Does anyone remember that ONE Captain Underpants book where George and Harold messed with fucking time travel and met their future selves who were married with kids and had successful careers as comic book creators or was that a fever dream?

I like to imagine that in the canon universe the new Dog Man movie was initially drafted and submitted by George and Harold as a concept, thinking it wouldn’t be accepted but wanting to give it a shot anyways.

⬇️ This was the wildest thing ever to my 11 year old brain btw. So wild that I didn’t even register that Harold is canonically gay.

Me, faced with a shiny new story idea: Save it for the Inklings Challenge, save it for the Inklings Challenge, please save it for the Inklings Challenge, I'm begging you please save it for the Inklings Challenge

#adventures in writing #the idea engine is warming up #by now i've got a certain sense of what kind of stories i generate for the inklings challenge #mash up one of the genres with another work or genre and create some half-baked world #the most recent is: the boxcar children as a portal fantasy #older sister and middle brother and younger sister the oldest no more than eleven or twelve #fantasy world royalty who flee from danger (probably an evil usurping uncle who wants to kill them like it's the aristocats)#and stumble into our world #and have to have all sorts of orphan adventures as they figure out how to survive #scrounging for supplies #setting up housekeeping in the woods or in some kind of abandoned building #figuring out our world and making friends #which they're going to need once the evil uncle's forces come after them #it would be so so middle grade and so derivative and such cheesy earnest fun #telling you about it now because it's the type of story idea that loses its luster in 24 hours #and i'll probably never write it #but also it can go on an inklings list and who knows #maybe three days before the deadline this one will pop up as a viable option for this year

i saw a post saying boom was good bc it feels like it could be done with any doctor/companion duo and honestly that was one of the things i felt was wrong with it

#in a show with a title character that could be Literally Anyone and a companion sharing the lead that could be Literally Anyone #i value the little moments that set this duo apart from the rest. ESPECIALLY when it comes to returning writers like rtd/moff #fifteen and ruby felt a little too eleven/twelve and clara adjacent in boom. in both their dialogue and characterization #space babies also landed a little weird at first bc it lifted a bit from end of the world BUT the scenes that fifteen and ruby #had to themselves. like ruby getting covered in snot and fifteen laughing. or fifteen and ruby looking after the Space Babies #or fifteen going out of his way to save the monster bc that monster is the only one of its kind Just Like Him Fr #that stuff is so good and its also something we haven't seen from another nuwho doctor. the vulnerable bleeding-heart empathy #and a dynamic w a companion that is basically 'two troublemakers that just deeply love fun and adventure and getting into trouble together'#oh yeah and also the devil's chord was peak fiction because it touches on fifteen's renewed connection and love for humanity #and marries it to ruby being a musician and how music like any art is the expression of the human soul etc etc #WHAT MAKES A DOCTOR WHO STORY GOOD TO ME IS PARTLY HOW THE PREMISE TIES INTO THE DOCTOR AND COMPANION'S CHARACTERS #IT HAS TO FEEL LIKE IT WAS TAILOR MADE TO THEM. ELSE IT WONT LAND RIGHT TO ME #i hate the take that they should've saved wild blue yonder for a fifteen episode bc #the tension is hinged on how well the doctor/companion know each other. u have a level of it that u can ONLY get #with fourteen and donna who are two halves of a whole soul but have also spent much more time missing the other than knowing them #im not rewatching fifteen's eps rn until a week later when i can watch it w my qpp but #rn i still feel a stronger sense of fifteen and ruby's characters from all the rtd-written eps rather moffat #which like. i get that a lot of that is my personal dislike of moffat's writing style but still #dr who #15 era #dw spoilers

#digital art #tropical's art #art #cw eyestrain #eye strain #rain world #rw slugcat oc #I decided to make the neon green and red slugcat an actual fusion between a latern mouse and a slugcat #Also Jace but slug cat #The other guy was still made by Two Sided Coin in an attempt to recreate themself as another organism #Though I wonder if any other animal in rain world can be modified #I reckon they can #But since slugcats were originally purposed to clean out iterators and other organisms can't easily travel through their superstructures #Genetically modified slugcats are the most efficient way to transfer messages through secret means (like spearmaster)#So makes sense there aren't any other modified animals unless it's a slugcat #But Two Sided Coin is having fun so they're able to make whatever they want #Including random fusions #Though I wonder if they're limited on making what creatures they want #Since if it's a scavenger or lizard #It can't really leave their superstructure #So slugcats and their fusions are mainly what they do unless they somehow found a work around #As for the slugcat!Jace? Idk he's just there adventuring out (his frills are just for show I suppose)#Bulkier than your average slugcat having a similar gimmick to gourmand with the bodyslamming and the added ability of mauling too #but as a trade off he's probably slower and less flexible #As for neon green it's a lot faster but not as fast as rivulet #I like to think it can flash any predators with a burst of neon green and red light to stun them #It's coat gets a lot duller as a result and it gets brighter until it's back to being a walking eyesore #It can also grapple with its tail and also glows thanks to being part latern mouse #I mentioned it was poisonous so maybe this is just the super easy mode of rain world since nothing wants to try and eat it #But that's no fun so it just looks poisonous
