- Let’s start this off with Tom absolutely loves you, your his sister of course he does. He doesn’t care what you look like or what you do, he's going to support you all the way just like you did for him growing up and defend you from anyone who bullies you about your style. Of course he’s not going to get physical because he’s not really that type of person but he’ll definitely give them a talking to.

- You two often like to hang out when you both have the time with him being a cop and all. Since you often like to come visit him this means that you get to see Maddie a lot as well and she absolutely loves you as well. She’s definitely impressed with your style and absolutely loves it. I feel like she’ll definitely hype you up about what you wear. She also really appreciates your kindness and how you are willing to help her with some stuff.

- Now onto the trio:

- For Sonic I have a feeling you’ve met him some point near the end of the first movie. At first you two were surprised with each other. You were surprised because there was this random creature who claimed to be a hedgehog standing in front of you and was talking to you. If it wasn’t for Tom and Maddie managing to calm you down you honestly thought you were hallucinating. As for Sonic he was mostly surprised yet interested in you. Like sure he’s seen some interesting people when he was totally not stalking the town of green hills but you're different. He honestly admires you in a way. And to think that your ‘Donut lords’ sister just makes it even cooler.

- He definitely opens up to you quickly, this is mostly because of how you are around him. You treat him so nicely despite him clearly being different from you. If you’ve seen the second movie he considers Tom like a father to him and I like to think that maybe he considers you as an aunt. He also may or may not called you aunt one time when you visited him and yes he may have gotten teased by Tom about it but honestly you didn’t even mind. You're just glad that he feels that comfortable around you that he called you that.

- He definitely asked you if he could try on some clothes and of course you let him. Although they clearly didn’t fit him due to the size difference between you two but honestly he didn’t care, he’s having fun with it and may even give you a little fashion show while he’s at it.

- For Tails and Knuckles they’re kind of similar. Both of them met you at some point after the second movie. They mostly likely met you when you decided to catch up with the other three unaware of tails and knuckles. As soon as they heard the door open and to Sonic happily going over to you excited to see you with Tom and Maddie following behind him of course they got curious and when they saw you they were immediately surprised.

- For Tails I feel like he’d be a little caught off guard when he first saw you. He wasn’t scared of you of course but just like Sonic he hasn’t really seen anyone like you. But despite the initial surprise from him he actually kind of admires you. He really likes how you're open about your style and not really caring about what people think about it. He really appreciates that.

- Again just like Sonic he opens up to you quickly as well. Maybe even quicker than sonic. Since he didn’t really have anyone back on his planet seeing how kind you were to not only him but other people makes him kind of want to be around you 24/7. He really likes it when you visit.

- When you do visit over he really likes to show you his gadgets that he created and hearing you saying how cool it looks and how smart he is he couldn’t help but feel really happy that you enjoy them. If you're willing to listen he’ll explain in a lot of detail about them, even if you don’t really understand certain terms he’s saying. Seeing that you're listening to him explain it is enough for him. Maybe if he has the time he might make something for you. As a way of saying thank you.

- For Knuckles as mentioned in some of my previous posts, it takes him a while to open up to people even if they’re the kindest person in the world he’ll have trouble opening up to them. If you consider his backstory in the second movie it’s honestly understandable why. But despite this he’s actually really interested in you. Unlike Tails who may be caught off guard or for Sonic who was initially surprised when first meeting you, Knuckles surprisingly took an interest in you. But despite this he’s still a bit cautious of you so he kind of admires you from a distance. Eventually Tom notices this and somehow manages to convince Knuckles in one way or another to talk with you. This then eventually leads to him being more open around you.

- He’s kind of the same like Tails when it comes to being around you. He’s definitely very attached to you although not as open compared to Tails but still it’s kind of obvious that he is even if he doesn’t directly say it to you. Due to this he can be protective over you. If someone even dares look at you the wrong way or comments on your looks he’ll tear one into them before you eventually have to take him somewhere else.

- I feel like after hanging out with you just like Sonic he kind of sees you like an aunt due to you being related to Tom and how kind you are to him. Maybe accidentally called you aunt as well and Sonic may have teased him for it but quickly gets shut down but Tom when he said he did the exact same thing.

- Overall, although they show it differently all of them really appreciate you.

My theories for what the themes of the fourth Sonic movie will be based on.

Ima preface by saying that most of my exposure for anything Sonic related mainly comes from the movies although I've been trying to read up on some of the canon lore these past few weeks but I just wanna put out there how I can see the fourth movie playing out.

Throughout all three movies, we've seen Sonic develop in many different ways, however the more a character develops, the more they run the risk of becoming a character that doesn't develop and grow. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but considering that Sonic is indeed the main protagonist of these movies, it's important to have a place where he can continue to grow and develop as the story continues as a way to keep things fresh.

So where I think the themes of Sonic 4 will be based on are "flaws and perfection". In fact, there's already some decent setup for this to be the case based on the post credits scenes of Sonic 3.

The scene in particular that I'm referring to is when Sonic refers to Metal Sonic as a cosplay, even noting that he got a few details wrong, and we see Metal get visibly mad at this as shown when his pupils dilate. Sonic even follows up his statement by saying how "it's hard to copy perfection", referring to himself.

So where can Sonic 4 go with this idea? Well, based on this scene in particular, we can see that Sonic is pretty confident in himself. He's confident in his abilities, his skills, and his powers, and upon encountering Metal Sonic, all he does is just treat him as just a "villain of the week" threat. He doesn't treat him with the same seriousness like he would with Robotnik or Shadow, but rather another bad guy that he can easily beat.

Now from what I know, in canon, Metal Sonic was basically created to be the "better Sonic" by Eggman. A version of Sonic that was made to outclass him in every single aspect.

This is where I think the themes of flaws and perfection could fit in with the movie.

As I mentioned before, Sonic is confident in who he is and his abilities. And in a way, he now sees himself as perfect as he could possibly be after everything he's went through throughout each of the films. But what does it really mean be perfect? Does it mean to be without flaws? Without faults? Or does it mean that you don't have to be perfect in the literal sense, but to embrace who you really are, flaws and strengths combined.

Throughout the movie, we could see how Sonic grapples with the identity of being the "perfect" hero to everyone, especially since he's served as huge inspirations to other characters such as Tom, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow to be better versions of themselves in the previous movies.

This is also where I think Amy would be able to play along with the themes of the movie. Let's say she has her tarot cards, this could cause her to have an idealistic view of the way the world works. She could think that her tarot cards could provide the answers to the future or something along those lines. And in turn this could lead her to have an idealistic view of Sonic, viewing him as a legendary hero with all these grand acts of heroism that have inspired her to be her own hero and her tarot cards told her that she would meet this hero one day (this is how I assume Amy managed to locate Sonic at the end of Sonic 3).

There was this one artwork by @/Kiioki11 on twitter that portrays how I would imagine the Sonamy dynamic playing out in the movie, with it being something more mutual instead of something one-sided or a "reverse Sonamy" situation, where Amy looks up to Sonic as a legendary hero that she was destined to meet and Sonic, being his cocky self, playing along with it and hyping himself up. Overall I just want them to be silly goobers with one another and to form a genuine bond with each other.

Now as comedic as it may be for Sonic to hype himself up, this actually starts developing an internal struggle for him. Even though it's great that he's looked up to by people and has helped them in one way or another, it can cause him to start feeling that he has to live up to those expectations. And with how high of a pedestal Amy has Sonic on already, something like that could overwhelm him so throughout the course of film, we can see how he can crack under the pressure being the "perfect" hero for his friends since he's supposed to be their leader, he's supposed to be the one who guides them into victory, the one who mostly has the fate of the world on his shoulders.

So when Sonic finally reaches his lowest point during the film, this is where Amy's idealized view of Sonic is finally broken. The image of the "legendary hero" she was destined to meet is shattered, and instead is replaced with the real Sonic. Here she actually gets to see Sonic as Sonic and this time, she's the one who motivates him to keep on going, making it a reversal of the "pep talks" Sonic would usually give to other characters such as Knuckles or Shadow. Despite having had that idealistic view of Sonic now destroyed, her empathetic nature allows her to see past that, especially with everything they have gone through together throughout the film. This is where Amy learns to see Sonic for who he really is and if we're gonna go the romantic route, that small crush she once had turns into genuine love and adoration for Sonic and vice versa.

Now where Metal Sonic comes into play is how he could have what I like to call a "crash out" arc. What this means is that once he finds out he's just a copy of Sonic and not the real deal, this is what drives him batshit crazy to prove he's the "one true Sonic", leading him to become Neo Metal Sonic, essentially representing a Sonic that is "perfect". A Sonic without flaws and is at the peak of both his powers and abilities. So while Sonic has learned to embrace who he really is, flaws and strengths combined, Metal Sonic tries to eliminate the flaws he has to achieve absolute perfection. Also Paramount, please give Metal Sonic a Tai Lung/Shredder-esque battle where he completely mops the floor with Team Sonic, I wanna see him be an absolute beast.

Anyways, that's all I got for how Sonic 4 could potentially play out and how I would like to see some things go. Let me know what you guys think 🫡

OK, I need to toss this out here.

if the theory was right that the new year Tailstube was set up for the next game and Professor Victoria is going to be involved as an important character I think I got an idea what it might be like.

My feeling is that it’s going to be a sort of Sonic adventure, three with a similar style to sonic adventure one where each character has their own campaign with its own style of gameplay.

We know Prof Victoria is likely going to be a major character, and whether or not she is Maria’s sister or niece or is a robotnik, we can confirm at the very least that she is a historian, if not a full on archeologist based on the title of her book. Combining this with the ancients and the dangling plot threats from Frontiers about them I think the next game is going have something from the past being uncovered, w/ professor Tori being involved.

I also think the game is gonna have an element of travel similar to unleashed, because of the tailstube mentioning a road trip, knuckles and amy both also mentioning wanting to explore the world.

I think bare minimum playable characters are going to be the people who were front and center in this tailstube, as its the first bit of media directly addressing whats coming post-frontiers. As such, the likely playable characters are as follows:

Sonic

Tails

Knuckles

Amy

Rouge

Shadow

Sonic is obviously going to be in this game. Let’s not even joke. I think him and shadow are likely going to play similarly Because they roughed out a pretty decent style w/ frontiers, and refined it with shadow generations. Considering Shadows popularity and the amount of hype surrounding his character, and the fact they have a very good gameplay system for him already they can easily adapt to Sonic, its not that far of a stretch to say they’ll probably gonna make both of them playable. I’m expecting them to do some differences though shadow has chaos control and chaos snap and all his other abilities. Sonic is his usual tool kit maybe with some extra twists to help differentiate the two. (For example, Sonic has Spindash/Dropdash, rolling, & the bounce bracelet, Shadow has Timestop, Chaos Spear, and Stomp). As for their stories, presumably Eggman’s gonna uncover something from history w/ power, and attempt to harness it leading Sonic on his journey to stop him. Meanwhile, shadow is probably gonna be involved because of professor Victoria, either because she’s Maria’s sister, knew Maria’s father, or because She Worked for GUN (she got geralds journal to Commander Towers), which we know was crippled by eggman post forces, and had been slowly building itself back up.

Tails’ whole arc in frontiers was about regaining his confidence and proving himself as a hero, and he ended that game by saying that he wants to go on an adventure of his own. The Tailstube episode specifically ended with him saying he was gonna take it on a road trip, signalling he’s likely gonna have a solo journey. I’m crossing my fingers that we get a mix of on foot gameplay like adventure, one and the cyclone from adventure 2, instead of JUST the cyclone, because as much as I think it’s cool I liked on foot tails better, and it helps make tails more than just the Tech guy. They already had a pretty solid on foot tails. They just need to refine his kit a lot more and fix a couple things.

Amy is kind of tricky but again she had a really solid gameplay set up in frontiers, they just need to make more of her attacks use the hammer instead of the tarot cards, which was my only complaint. She said she was gonna hang out with her friends more in the tailstube so I’m guessing her campaign is about her going on a road trip to visit all her friends. I’m not sure if she’ll be playable because I’m not sure what her campaign would be like but I hope she is.

Knuckles and Rouge are both interesting and are similar to sonic and shadow, as they are both closely associated with the treasure hunt style of gameplay. Knux ends frontiers by planning to branch out from his island, explore the world and treasure hunt and mentions as much in the Tailstube, while Rouge tells tails she wants to expand her gem collection, interestingly with tails asking her about gems of historical value, which could tie into Professor Victoria, who is bare minimum a historian, if not an archeologist. The differences could be neat tho: knuckles is going on more classic treasure hunts to seek information about the ancient mysteries involved in the plot while Rouge’s levels are more like bank heists with some more puzzle elements. Could be some cool variety.

All in All, I don’t know if this is accurate, but I’ve had this in my head for like the past couple days and I just needed to get this out.

It really is not just annoying, but also somewhat sad, that IDW characters can never have a meaty role without shamelessly upstaging a game character. It's the ultimate play of insecurity.

Tangle gets touted as the Sonic Female of All Time while the crewmembers drag the game females through the mud.

Whisper gets randomly fawned over by Silver and Jet of all guys.

Lanolin humiliates Silver and treats him like a child.

Rough and Tumble are too much for Cream the OP to handle.

Starline was hyped up for an extended period as Eggman's superior (no, his final fate did not undo sitting through his agonizing "Sonic VS Eggman is routine" soapboxing).

Surge is being hyped up for even longer as the most badass villain and the most badass character period, despite having absolutely nothing of merit to show for it.

Is it really that hard to find a middle ground? I get you want your character(s) to do big things and be a legitimate part of the cast instead of sitting in the background with their thumbs twiddling, but this is not the way to do it. Trip was only recently introduced to the series, and she found her place just fine. She didn't need to effortlessly beat up Sonic in concept art in order to earn her stripes. She didn't need her creators to brag that she would improve Forces through her mere presence in order to cement her value.

Look. I talk a lot about Trudy. I talk a lot about her role in my fic, her interactions, her dynamics, her abilities, her quirks, all that good stuff. I take her role in the story quite seriously, and in an age where it's become taboo to have your OC do literally anything with the game cast (because overcorrection), I've stuck to my guns and made her a big part of the fic.

But - and this is a big but - none of this comes at the cost of the other characters, or the story as a whole. Sonic is still Sonic, and acts as you'd expect from him. Tails is still Tails, and isn't dismissed by the narrative as a mere sidekick to prop up Trudy as the "true" hero by comparison. Amy is still her bubbly self, not morphed into a Sally clone. Cream is still capable, despite her youth and innocence, and her bond with Trudy doesn't reduce her to literal baby. Eggman treats Trudy no differently from the rest of the cast, and he sure as hell doesn't show any fear at the prospect of facing her. Stellar is not little more than The Trudy Show: it's Sonic's latest adventure in a new land that Trudy happens to be tagging along for, and how he leaves an impression on her. Just like Unleashed did with Chip, and Secret Rings did with Shahra, among other examples.

Even Sonudis, for as Never Going To Happen In Canon For Very Obvious Reasons as it is, is still made with the mentality of not only what Sonic himself is actually like in canon, but the others too. It's not a shallow bait that exists solely to exist, it's something I took seriously in regards to how it could potentially work without sacrificing Sonic's official characterization. Is it a fanfic cliche? Is it self-indulgent? Maybe, but writing fanfic in general is inherently self-indulgent. The sooner you accept that, the better. But as fanfic-y as some concepts may be, I still try to portray them as naturally and as faithfully as I can in respect to the games that spawned this franchise. That includes not reducing Sonic to a lap dog with no independence or backbone.

You can make your character important, and even give them a risky role if you're daring, without disrespecting the game cast and what they contribute to the franchise.

OKAY!! SO!!! I watched Sonic movie 3 yesterday and I NEED to talk about it! Spoilers below!

They seriously LOCKED IN when making this movie cuz it was SO GOOD!!! ACTUAL PEAK CINEMA!!! And honestly, it's probably the best instalment in the series!

I LOVED how they did Shadow's character in the movie! He isn't this edgelord and is this tragic and complex character, like how he is in the games!

I found it very interesting that he came from a meteorite instead of being made by Gerald, but it's still pretty likely that Shadow's still related to the Black Arms!

And DUDE!! Each scene with Shadow and Maria made my heart swell! They were SO cute! Like, that 1st scene with them, where Maria drew a little face on Shadow's tube thingy, and they put their hands against the glass, UUGGH!! I was tearin' up! I was seriously tearin' up, yo! Then they showed a little montage of them spending time together...! It was- It was so good. I LOVE how they handled their relationship! And, oh.. The way Maria died... She didn't actually get shot, but SHE WAS GOING TO!! And that is SO crazy to think about! Instead, she died from a explosion, caused by one of the G.U.N soldiers. And the very moment they showed Shadow and Gerald tearing UP! Eyes WATERING!! On the brink of TEARS!!! Like, I can't believe they actually showed that! Like- 😭😭😭

Okay, now I wanna talk about Sonic cuz HO-LY CRAP!

He was kinda scary after Shadow punched the living daylights out of his dad. (That scene was also so crazy btw! Like-! Like-! The parallels between Shadow to Maria's death, and Sonic to Tom's supposed death, UGH, IT'S SO GOOD) But anyway, yeah, so I feel like we've never seen Movie Sonic so serious, so ANGRY before! And the scene where Sonic is demanding the Master Emerald from Knux...! It was so hard to see them like that... (But I really liked the brief cameo that Wade had, I actually really like his character)

And OF COURSE I gotta talk about Super Sonic vs. Super Shadow! 1st of all, was NOT expecting it. 2nd of all, it was SO COOL, and SO HYPE! And that scene where they had a heart-to-heart on the moon, yo!! I just... I just love how they did that... And THEN! They teamed up and FUDGING LIVE AND LEARN STARTED PLAYING, AND THEY DID THE POSE!!! I freaked the fudge out, if you couldn't already tell.

Now I gotta talk about Robotnik and Stone cuz they made me sad. I felt SO bad for Stone in this movie! Like, that one scene with him and Tails where Tails asked Stone if him and Robotnik were friends, and Stone's just like, "Oh y-yeah! We're TOTALLY friends! Yeah. Haha..." Or something like that. And the scene where Stone says he doesn't want to loose Robotnik again, like DUDE😭 It's real, they are canon (well it might be one-sided on Robotnik's part-) BUT STILL!!!

And of course, I can't forget about the part where Robotnik is saying his final words to Stone. The scene was ACTUALLY emotional! I never thought anything like that would happen in the movie! It's also the closest thing to the "I've come to make an announcement", but instead of being hilarious, it's sad and bittersweet... And gay-

Can't believe they actually redeemed Robotnik too. Such a good send off to his character.

You already KNOW I freaked out during the after credit scene! I got spoiled that Amy was gonna be there, but Metal Sonic?! Wasn't spoiled for that! Dude. He looked so cool!! And there were other Metal Sonics! And they also looked cool! But where'd they come from? Who built them? Guess we'll hafta wait until the next movie!

All in all, this movie was super good, and I enjoyed every second of it! So much so, that I wanna watch it again! VERY BADLY!!

EGGMAN IS BACK and WOW. HE uhm, certainly changed a lot since his defeat in the last movie.

MARIA!! I like that they updated her look to be in line with the 70s

Sadly there seems to be no Amy or Rouge. As much as i like the movies i cant take the lack of female characters. Yeah maddie is cool and all but I expected more game characters

Esspcially jarring since amy and rouge played prominent roles in SA2. Sorry but adapting into a new story isn't an excuse to exclude them

I don't think Shadow will kill Tom. I have no idea where that theory came from.

I heard rumors Maddie might be pregnant so... this means she'll likely get sidelined.

Kristen Ritter is playing a GUN agent. We dont have her name but i think she could be Rouge's replacement.

Stone is still loyal as ever. Glad that they're not pulling a dumb twist like they did to Dr. Starline.

Im concerned with some of the changes in the story, mainly GUN asking Sonic for help capturing Shadow. It just seems like another attempt by Hollywood to make Sonic a traditional superhero a la the Avengers when that's not his style.

Jim Carrey seemingly playing Gerald tbought this just might be a dream sequence. Like he imagiens meeting his childhood hero and in true Eggman fashion sees Gerald as an extension of himself, only to find out there's more to the story than he initially believed

And ofc course how could I forget the man of the hour :D

Shadow looks AMAZING!! He really does resemble his game counterpart, and Keanu's voice fits him nicely (my personal gripes aside).

I read a comment on twitter that Shadow's skating looks a lot like a king cobra and now im loving it even more. Just those minute details really help to make his character shine without being too loud.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles (Knuckles) Part 3: Hyper not living up to the hype

Unfortunately I had to cut this one short because I had to stop the session, so it’s just me Emerald hunting

So while we’re here what about those Super and Hyper forms for Tails and Knuckles?

They’re lame

I don’t understand why Sonic gets to have a unique design, but Tails and Knuckles (and later Amy, Mighty and Ray) only get to glow a little. They don’t even fly! Tails is especially egregious because he still needs his tails to fly and can still get tired!

Not only is it lame from a gameplay perspective (Tails’ invincible flickies would be great if not for the fact that he himself is already invincible thus making it much faster to kill enemies yourself, and Hyper Knuckles is literally just Super Knuckles except he has a wall smash attack that is nowhere close to being as versatile and fun as Hyper Sonic’s hyper dash), it also makes little sense from a lore perspective

I know that the whole “Sega said only male hedgehogs can turn Super” has (from what understand at least) been proven by a member of Sonic Team itself to be misinformation, but this is one of those cases where I think the games themselves don’t do themselves any favors because look: Sonic, Shadow and Silver get proper Super forms, all the others only have them in the Classic games and they just glow a bit, while in the modern games no one else ever turns Super and that one time in Heroes Tails and Knuckles only receive Super Shields from Super Sonic. The only exception to the rule being Blaze really. It’s easy to imagine, even from an outside perspective, that the super forms of most characters that we see in the classic games are a purely gameplay related thing and not story canon. I’m not claiming that’s the case, just that that would be an easy conclusion to come to just looking at the material on its own

Furthermore it just doesn’t make sense period: Knuckles should have more proficiency at handling the Emeralds given his ties to the Master Emerald, honestly he should be second only to Shadow! I remember reading somwhere that the reason why Tails needs the Super Emeralds to transform is because he has little experience. I wanna stress that I don’t know if this is official or fan theory, but either way it’s just nonsense: oh sure he doesn’t have the ability to handle the powers of the Emeralds, but their more powerful versions? He can handle those no issue!

And if we really wanted to follow this type of logic then, again, Sonic himself should have trouble using the Emeralds, because he, by this point, has only encountered them 3 times, and the first time it wasn’t even the full set! Yet he can totally use their full power by his second adventure with them, while Tails for some reason still has issues and Knuckles, the guy who’s spent his life guarding the biggest Emerald of all, can just do the bare minimum with them?

And for the record: no I’m not saying I want everyone to spam Super forms all willy nilly. But when I see Sonic go Super to fight the latest threat while the others just stay back and cheer him up I would really like to know why exactly it’s always just him and maybe one other guy who’s turning Super instead of the whole gang which, y’know, would be more practical? (I mean look at SA2: Sonic and Shadow turn Super to fight the Biolizard while Knuckles, the guy who should also be able to go Super according to S3, just stays there literally slack jawed)

Initially I thought Knuckles and Jet could fit equally good as either Dagur or Snoutlout (I'm never getting used with his original name LOL), but then nah... Dagur is too much villainous in the start, like he is deliberately such a madman and had such a charisma being that villain and was so into being like that by his pure free will plus the way he was used to see the world and such that not Knuckles or Jet can fit, none of them were ever evil to begin with, one was misguided and the other is just not exactly good as well.

Knuckles being there was only guided by the aesthetic since you're considering Blaze to be Heather and then the two ✨guardians✨would be the siblings and it made sense to me for a time.

Meanwhile I just thought on Jet because of SatBK, as many point out Lamorak and Percival are siblings in the Arthurian Stories, that's it...

Buuuuuut y'know what, or rather who, have a personality that matches with Dagur? Infinite! Yes, I'm suggesting him, I feel like he has the vibes to take Dagur's role.

Then we get who would be Snoutlout and a further thought put Jet out, Initially they seemed equally perfect as them both have that dynamic, like they hype themselves and even boast like they were better than Sonic, but then the narrative is like "actually, Sonic is just as good as them... I think he's even better lol" if it even makes sense...

But then, let's be real, if there's something ridable in the universe, Jet is doing that years before than Sonic (Uh, he could be one of that group that raises the kind of dragon Heather rides, which I'm not sure of the name in the original dub)

Also, Snoutlout is kinda like Hiccup's first rival, just like Knuckles, so yeah, Knux is the better suíted.

I won't lie, I also think Vector could work as Snoutlout, his attitude + the soft and sensible side he gets in the series (and I think were carried to the second and third movies I need to rewatch) + the kid he have quite a quarrelsome big-lil bros dynamic with made Vec just pop around here

So in short, I invaded your Ask Box to suggest you to put Infinite in Dagur's role and that somehow I suggest Knuckles and Vector equally to Snoutlout's role

Yeah Jet never really wanted to KILL Sonic so he doesn't quite fit Dagur, and as you say Knuckles was just misguided and eventually becomes besties with Sonic - which is why I feel he works better as Snotlout too!

I DID actually think of Infinite as Dagur!! Even before Blaze as Heather (which might have been Chaz's idea I don't remember who said it first now lol). Cuz he definitely does fit how Dagur acts in riders/defenders but not really in rtte where he has a complete personality change and decides to be good sjfjdhfgd. But it could still work perhaps... there's enough reformed Infinite aus out there that it wouldn't be TOO weird lol. I'll see I'll see, again I'm not sticking with all the canon relationships so he doesn't have to be Blaze's brother if I do have him as Dagur.

Also I'm crying do you mean Mala? Jet as Mala, queen of the defenders of the wing? Who ends up married to Dagur?? Maybe you meant one of the others but I'm LOSING it at Jet/Infinite... that's so funny I've never considered that ship ever. Yeah why not Jet can be Mala LMAO

I don't think I would consider Vector as Snotlout (sorry) just cuz I wanted the main squad to be the classic characters y'know? And Shadow lol. That said, my original line up was Jet as Snotlout, Tails as Fishlegs, Knuckles as Tuffnut and Amy as Ruffnut. However. And I'm very sorry about this... I just don't like Jet. I don't have any real reasons, I just don't lmao so I didn't want him to be part of the main gang ^^;

I did have a vague thought of Vector being Gobber but idk... if he was he definitely wouldn't have the same dynamic with Aleena that Gobber and Stoick do lol!!

Someone mentioned Sticks as Tuffnut which is hilarious but they wouldn't have the same dynamic as Ruff and Tuff so idk. That's why I thought of just having 5 of them rather than 6 and not having twins at all (rip). Amy and Knuckles can still have the headbutting dynamic as they're both pretty hot headed, they don't need to be related to do that!

If we wanna talk about canon httyd relationships then Fishlegs also dates Heather in rtte, as well as Snotlout having a GIANT gay crush on Fishlegs in one ep, and the both of them fighting over Ruffnut in the 2nd movie. So like I'm not gonna be doing all that don't worry skfhfhsgs I'm picking and choosing the dynamics I like and want to keep.

I feel like this is a growing side effect of fans being starved from Tails being the non-action tech guy for so long to where Forces caused a boiling point for so many, some are latching onto Nine or IDW in spite of it. (I argue Tails got drowned out often even back then when characters like Shadow, Silver, and Blaze were a huge talking point back in the 2000s. But still in good standing before Unleashed and Colors.)

While I'm glad the movie and Prime made Tails in general a big talking point again; more positively this time, I am mixed on it coming at the expense of his Modern self. MOSTH and Modern being playable again later in Frontiers is a start, but he's probably not going to really shake this off until he goes solo for a bit in a upfront way. (That, and having more interactions outside of Sonic to show off more of his character. Love their bond, don't love how fans treat it so one-sided when discussing it.)

(Though I don't really see what is there to latch onto in idw, he doesn't really do much? I wouldn't even say his characterization is bad, it's just that he kinda. Exists around. I see people hype up idw Tails and I'm like. Wow no wonder people think he's boring and lame if this is what passes for good Tails representation)

The thing with Unleashed and Colors is interesting, because I feel like the characters who had good early portrayals (the aforementioned Blaze, Shadow and Silver) but hadn't appeared since are still remembered as competent and cool characters because this characterization is still fresh in people's minds even though it was so long ago, while due to Tails having more appearances he's more remembered for the more recent ones... (and probably there's a part of "Why can't my supercool fave be in this game, why is Tails here, he's lame!")

I feel there's also the thing that all of those characters had very... impressive introductions. No matter how bad the writing for Shadow gets people can go back to his introductory game and remember what he was invisioned to be as a character, etc.

But Tails's backstory is all in the manual. He even has a little character arc (seeing Sonic, becoming more optimistic and learning to fly/run fast enough to keep up with Sonic, meeting Sonic for the first time and following him into battle), and it's not only only in the manual, it happens before the events of the game itself. Even Knuckles has more of a character arc/involvement in his introductory game plot. (This is how we ended up with early adaptations where Tails thinks that math is yucky and hard despite canon Tails literally being an engineer) Tails just. Doesn't get to make the same impression, and never will, because he's a 30+ old character and that ship has sailed. (And it's ironic to see how people latched onto Nine since he's technically having the same arc, it's just like you know... Show, don't tell. It really works. (And also he's angsty, that helps too))

Yeah... I love people being excited about versions of Tails from adaptations, but it really brings me down when people use them to talk shit about mainline Tails. You know what this reminds me of? When there's a new Scooby Doo adaptation and everyone is like "Finally they fixed Daphne so she's competent and isn't a damsel in distress anymore". And it's like. Do you know anything about Daphne. And. Why are you giving credit to the adaptation for doing something that has always been a thing?

I'm not expecting Frontiers to break through Tails's public image either, but I hope he at least has an enjoyable gameplay so people could be like "Wow that was fun! I wish Sega would make even more games where you could play as Tails!" :3c And then maybe we could get this "solo adventure".

(Though the way it's worded in Frontiers it's more of a "Tails is going to the mountains to train" than "Tails is becoming a solo operation". Like he clearly just wants to get "stronger"(in a broad sense of the word. Though personally I think what he actually needs is to stop basing his self worth on his usefulness and Sonic's opinions. Ironically if he was more like Sonic in this way he would be happier) and is expecting to get back to Sonic at some point. I could live with this though, I don't mind it at all as long as he's actually treated as Sonic's partner afterwards rather than a cute accessory that Sonic talks to so he doesn't look weird talking to the broken robots.)

I love tmosth! Ian Sr is such a good writer, honestly I don't know about his abilities to write a cool adventure plot, but he has the character voices nailed down! (Except for maybe kleptomania jokes with Rouge) But Tails was so good! He was basically a co-protag with Barry (they had a very cute dynamic), we saw him interacting with other characters who aren't Sonic (honestly he and Sonic barely interact with each other there at all), he took charge of the investigation and got to show off his smarts beyond "I fix this broken thing like it's magic"(Though he did that as well!), and he was still shown to be insecure and childish at times, it's just *clenches fist* so good.

Sorry had to take a break to gush, this post was becoming too negative ahaha. Ok back to it.

The Unbreakable Bond thing. Yeah... I also love their relationship, but the fact that Tails doesn't really have developed relationships with the rest of the cast makes him feel very isolated and like his life revolves around Sonic. Even Amy and Knuckles, whose most developed relationships are with Sonic as well, have other characters that they interact with without Sonic being involved, (or at least used to interact with), like Rouge or Cream. Who does Tails have? Professor Pickle? Barry? Please. Tails is getting suffocated by the soulmate bond.

(And I don't love to criticize how other fans engage with the franchise because I also have my silly headcanons and interpretations. Like. I literally hc Tails as nonbinary which he isn't, in canon, as far as I'm aware. But. Yeah sometimes it feels like people are more into the idea of Sonic having a little brother that he can dote on. Rather than, you know. Sonic & Tails's actual relationship. Like I literally saw someone say (genuinely as far as I could guess) "Sonic sacrificed so much to raise Tails" and like. Ok. It's time to step back a little and look at the actual canon content. Sonic didn't even know where Tails's house was in sa1, what exactly is he sacrificing with such attentive parenting I wonder. But I do also love cute brotherly bonding stuff so. (One of the reasons why I love aosth so much, though there are other reasons as well. Also while I'm complaining, nobody understands the "Mom, Dad and the Picket Fence" thing.))

Sorry if this post got a big edgy at times, sometimes I start going and slip into it a little bit, even though I'm generally trying not to complain too much about the stuff I don't like and instead focus on the things I do.

DEATH BATTLE LIVES!!!

That's right, Boomstick! With $737,442 raised (almost 10 times the initial goal!) Death Battle gets to keep going on strong! And in commemoration of the Kickstarter wrapping up, I might as well give my thoughts on all the matchups confirmed through the stretch goals!

Bardock vs Omni-Man (Dragon Ball vs Invincible):

Feels a bit wrong seeing Omni-Man again after only two years, not gonna lie. But at least this time around, he'll actually have some kind of challenge to face in an old-school Saiyan. (Watch them somehow still squeeze in that damn universe shockwave feat)

Bowser vs Eggman (Super Mario vs Sonic the Hedgehog):

The fact that they squeezed in a reference to Eggman's announcement and Bowser's Hotel Mario meme face was perfection. And the animation preview looks absolutely sick. Let's just hope that Bowser got whatever he had on the Moon in Odyssey off there, because we all know what's coming to it...

Kratos vs Asura (God of War vs Asura's Wrath):

The eternal bridesmaid finally gets its chance to shine! And honestly, I don't exactly get the hype around it all to much. I mean it can be cool, yeah, but second place in both Championship polls? How? Not only that, but remember when Kratos' most wanted opponent was Dante instead of Asura? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

Mahito vs Shigaraki (Jujutsu Kaisen vs My Hero Academia):

I haven't watched MHA since season 4 and have never seen JJK so I have nothing to say.

Aang vs Traveler (Avatar: The Last Airbender vs Genshin Impact):

I'm not to hyped on this one either. I don't watch Avatar, and while I like a good few characters in Genshin, the Traveler is one I'm neutral on (Not to mention how I dipped out of the story mid-way through Sumeru). I guess it could be cool, but to me, this one is a bit more filler-like in my eyes.

Ash vs Yugi (Pokémon vs Yu-Gi-Oh!):

Aside from the episode 200 factor, this one is really interesting due to the many ways they could handle it. Since it likely won't be Ash and Yugi themselves throwing hands, it all comes down to what "monsters" are brought onto the battlefield. Obviously, we'll have Pikachu and Dark Magician, but we could also get Ash-Greninja, or Exodia the Forbidden One! Hell, maybe even "weaker" ones like Rowlet or Pot of Greed, which allows Yugi to draw three additional cards from his deck and place them in his hand!

Simon the Digger vs Kyle Rayner (Gurren Lagaan vs DC):

Welcome one of the most infamously back-and-forth toxic debates, in my eyes. While not on the same caliber as Bill vs Discord or Joker vs Giorno, I've seen the tides of debate shift on this so many times. And I... don't really care all that much. The White Lanterns are an area of DC I'm not that familiar with, and I tried watching Gurren Lagaan a few years back but lost interest after the time skip. Not only that, but I feel like the main reason people got interested in this matchup is because of Will of the Drill, and people, lemme break it to you; It's probably not gonna get used in the actual episode. Not saying it absolutely won't, but the chances are slim.

Ruby vs Maka (RWBY vs Soul Eater):

While I've only seen the first 4 volumes of RWBY and know nothing about Soul Eater outside of Venom vs Crona, I guess this one could be interesting. Though I can almost guarantee you that there will be some kind of scythe-lock moment in the fight. It's practically inevitable.

Hulk vs Godzilla (Marvel vs Toho):

I feel like I'm one of the few people who are actually into this matchup. Most people I've seen talk about it online are usually either neutral or flat-out dislike it. Or even weirder, only like it if its MCU Hulk vs Monsterverse Godzilla (And I have no idea why) but I'm really down for this. Here's to hoping Hulk grabs big G by the tail and gives him the Puny God treatment.

Gru vs Megamind (Illumination vs Dreamworks):

WOOOOOOO!! YEAAAAAH, BAYBEEEEEE! That's what I've been waiting for! That's what it's all about! WOOOOOOOO!

But seriously, I'm really happy this episode is finally happening. While it's not my most wanted episode (Infinity Ultron vs Heaven Ascension DIO), my second-most wanted episode (Borg vs Cybermen), and so on and so-forth, this one can still be a grand old time. It'll also likely be an easy wash for Megamind so long as he, y'know... S H O O T S G R U W I T H T H E D E H Y D R A T I O N G U N ! !

And with that, that only leaves us with one episode slot to cover... kinda: the fan-voted rematch slot. Since this one has yet to be decided, I'll tackle this one by saying which episode I'd vote for. And that would be...

Shadow vs Mewtwo (Like a good amount of people seem to be going with)

Hey, I can't help it if that episode sucked and deserved better for such a fitting matchup. It's at least a tad more interesting of a revisit than Master Chief vs Doom Slayer. Not to mention how Shadow's new Doom powers could shake things up from the first time around.

But nevertheless, the future of Death Battle is looking bright, and I look forward to analyzing a bunch of characters weapons, armor, and skills once more.

( I completely forgot to post this, thank you for being patient if there was someone out there who was waiting for this. Unless you forgot like me😅).

Out of all the plot lines, I hope the SCU adaptation has to be Sonic unleashed. I know Unleashed might be the least likely to be adapted due to the werehog being an odd premise for the casual audience. (I also found out that they don’t have the right to adapt the Sonic Unleashed storyline …for now at least). But I really love this story so let me have hope😭.

Context:

Ok, here is my take on if Amy was introduced along with the Sonic unleashed plot line after the events of the third or fourth films the world would know about Sonic and co and how they protect their world. Maybe G.U.N finally gives them a proper reward for their good deeds (and it could serve as an apology), a vacation around the world completely covered by G.U.N.

Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow (if he’s taken in by the Wachowski) are hyped about the trip (mostly Sonic and Tails are excited about the trip while Shadow and Knuckles are more cautious). This is Sonic’s first time being able to explore the world freely with his family without worrying about staying hidden. This trip would also be his brother's first time exploring the world and having fun. So Sonic wants this vacation to be perfect (especially for his new brother Shadow who has been through a lot).

Unfortunately for Sonic, it doesn't go as planned when he discovers Tails’ notes revealing that Doctor Eggman/Agent Stone is up to something no good once again. Not wanting Tails or the fam to worry about saving the world again thus ruining their vacation, Sonic decides to handle the evil genius solo so they can get back to their vacation.

Sonic has handled this alone and with friends so this would just be a quick butt-kicking in and out then back to family vacation… right. Nope. (One possible reenactment of Sonic Unleashed intro later) Sonic gets cursed with dark Gaia energy, and the world is literally falling apart, he may have possibly given some weird Chihuahua fairy amnesia.

So Sonic of course is freaking out about his new form, the world breaking, and what his family would think of him when they find out. After a few moments of panicking Sonic decides to put his feelings aside to help the fairy creature regain his memories. Due to it still being night and not wanting to scare anyone who didn’t recognize him, he decides to head back to the hotel the Wachowskis are staying at to give them a heads up on the situation and see if they could help. Sonic was a bit worried that his family wouldn’t recognize him but he figured he'd cross that bridge when he got there. On their way back they have an encounter with dark Gaia creatures that seem to be occupied fighting a feisty pink hedgehog.

Despite his lack of confidence in his new form, he jumped into the fray of the battle. During the fight, he learns two things: one, his new form grants him new slightly horrifying abilities at the cost of his speed and other powers. Two, the pink hedgehog was a girl with an awesomely large hammer.

After the fight both hedgehogs are a bit awkward/nervous, the pink hedgehog is at first unsure if the beast that aided her was friend or foe while Sonic is on a roller coaster of emotions. While Sonic was excited to meet another hedgehog (besides Shadow) but also nervous cuz it was his first time meeting a pretty girl (who was also a bit scary with a big hammer). Not to mention he is not feeling the most confident meeting a girl in his less handsome new form ( movie Sonic would definitely be self-conscious about his werehog form since he takes a lot of pride in his look based on the first two films).

Before Sonic decides to run off or the pink hedgehog declares him a foe, something clicks with the pink hedgehog when her eyes meet the werehog’s eyes.

The pink hedgehog lets her guard down along with de-summoning her hammer (which surprised both Sonic and the fairy ) running up to him and hugging him exclaiming “You’re the one I’ve been looking for!”

Now confused and flustered he questions if he knows her. The pink hedgehog breaks from the hug and quickly apologizes.

The pink hedgehog quickly introduces herself as Amy Rose, a Mystic guardian who was sent to Earth to help Sonic restore balance to the world.

Before Sonic can properly introduce himself and the fairy creature the sun rises triggering his transformation.

After the intense transformation was over he managed to get a glimpse of himself realizing to his relief he was back to normal. With the knowledge that his beastly form was a temporary Sonic’s confidence reemerges at full force. Dusting himself off he turns to his new concerned allies, introducing himself as Sonic the Hedgehog hero of Earth.

After some explanation of Earth's predicament and reassuring his new friends that he was ok (he was not) they set off to meet up with the Wachowski to form a plan to save the day. However, they do get a bit sidetracked when Sonic and Amy need to help the little fairy with his memories. Sonic also wants to re-introduce himself to his new friends in a more cool image than the freaky monstrous one from earlier. Good thing that form was only temporarily like his super form, and there is no way that he has to go to that horrific transformation again… right?

the vocal themes from frontiers describe a specific theme on their lyrics and it gradually turns from fear to acceptance (i suppose) i’ll be talking abt these (in the order of their “appearance” in game): i’m here, undefeatable, break through it all, find your flame, vandalize.

i’m here is a lot about doubting and reassurance. it starts with sonic “leaving the life he knew before” “finding the truth of who he’s meant to become”, revealing a degree of uncertainty. despite the fact sonic has always moved forward, “to new horizons”, he “fights this fear, with his life”, fights the fear of losing his friends. but in the next pre-chorus, it seems like he can hear his friends (“don’t be afraid, i will be with you”) who are trying to reassure him and give him the strength he needs to keep on fighting. in the end, he still moves forward, but now he’s more assured as “the way ahead’s becoming clear.”

undefeatable is about a strong sense of confidence that overshadows the real emotions sonic is feeling (a topic touched by the next song as well). that’s mostly fear. sonic seems to be handling everything well so far, even saying that “think im on 11 but im on a 9, guess u dont really know me” which shows he really believes he is “undefeatable” and that makes sense, especially since he is in his super form for the first time since the beginning of their adventure and is certain the chaos emeralds will help him complete his mission (he doesnt know yet that the emeralds disperse after visiting a different island). however, he keeps repeating “face your fear” and it serves as a reminder to himself that he cant avoid this emotion. “i used to never know/this feeling’s just a ghost” is him trying to persuade himself that this fear is momentary and that he has to focus on the battle to keep moving forward.

break through it all is about accepting and overcoming the fear. sonic still tries to convince himself to keep the fight going (“dont look down”) but at the same time he’s calling out to his enemy (”show yourself”). that’s when he’s found most of his friends but has yet to find tails. he wants to end this and quickly, so he doesnt wait for the enemy to appear on its own. now he knows that he “cant hide from what he feels”, he’s still afraid but more determined (”no more compromise, this is do or die”) and ready to risk it all. half of the chorus is sonic’s friends hyping him up, telling him that he “wont fade out, cuz the fire in him never dies” and that he shouldnt stop cuz they have a mission. sonic has been listening to them and he knows they have been with him this whole time, so he accepts that they will be okay cuz they are fighting alongside him (”we wont stop until the battle’s won”) and until the end of the song, sonic talks on behalf of all of them. 

find your flame is about the ultimate disappearance of that fear. theres no fear overshadowing what he has to do (”take a seat, im on a mission”) and he’s carrying his friends with him in this one (”we wont back down”). sonic has surpassed his frontiers (”im here to go beyond my limit”), he is at the worst state possible (cybercorrpution) and is eager to end the fight, even more now that hes reunited with his little bro. (”i’ve been waiting for my moment to strike”). he has no inhibitions, he’s not restraining himself, he’s not feigning confidence but he is filled with it (all the pre-chorus indicates that). 

now, heres an interesting take (which ofc may be completely wrong but oh well): “will the whole world know your name/ when we dance with destiny?” is a line asked by sage, trying to understand sonic. “im never gonna stop believing” is tails’ response as he tries to prevent sonic from doubting himself. he is the only one who has been with sonic for the longest time, the only one who “has been there and has seen it”, sonic’s willpower and strength, so he reminds him that “he’ll find his flame” (it connects with the conversation sage and tails had regarding sonic’s abilities). and now, sonic is sure that this is “the end of the show” and that he’ll find his flame thanks to his friends. 

vandalize is about the aftermath. sonic was betrayed (”you promised to help me rebuild/you caught me off guard”) he is in pain. this whole adventure has left a mark, it has vandalized his heart. from losing his friends, to finding them, to not being able to save them, to having to find the chaos emeralds again and again while fighting the cyber corruption and then getting betrayed but also barely managing to make it out in one piece yet not being able to save everyone (rip sage). there’s no fear. just determination, certainty. and pain. even when the physical pain stops, the emotional damage (LOL) has been dealt. no matter what happens next, this adventure has left a mark on sonic.

The usual faces:

The IDW cast, cause they get hyped up as the best characters of all time despite them being idiots, cunts, or idiot cunts. Some of them could have been promising had things turned out differently, but others were doomed to be shite from the start.

Scourge, cause he's the lamest take imaginable on an already boring premise. (What if Sonic... WaS eViL???)

Nine and Thorn, cause these two are held up as defining examples of Tails and Amy, which makes me a sad-but-not-surprised panda.

Mephiles, cause outside of Dan Green's voice, he's another poorly written villain of many who people treat as though he's somehow better than the rest when he's not.

The End, cause it's as nothing and artificially hyped as the rest of the plot it's part of.

The Freedom Fighters, cause folk believe so vehemently that they deserve special privileges, and are somehow more integral to Sonic than the actual game-born characters. They go on about their perceived legacy, when you could say the same thing about AoStH characters, Underground characters, etc, yet they never get this level of deification.

Silver, cause despite disapproving of his off portrayals in the comics, I've never cared for his in-character portrayal either. And his design still doesn't work in execution.

Sage, cause she's as compelling as watching grass grow, and bastardizes Eggman's character all the while. (I don't care what their intention was, they really should have predicted how the fandom would react to it, and they've continued pandering to the Eggdad crowd on occasion even after the fact. Until Eggdad gets more thoroughly debunked in-universe, a lot of the rationalizations surrounding it currently sound like copium to me... like a lot of handwaves for Sonic "Best Story Since Black Knight" Frontiers in general.)

More controversially, while I do respect Shadow, even if he's never been one of my top favourites, I kind of resent how the attention given to him always comes at other characters' expense. I also don't appreciate when, in the process of fans hyping up and down how deep/complex/etc he is, they usually dismiss Sonic, Eggman, and most of the others while doing so, because they're perceived to be simpler, ergo they consider them lesser. Being the Eggfan that I am, you can imagine why I'd take offense to this.

I guess Crash and Spyro and Gex would qualify, since I grew up with a PS1. As Sonic-pilled as I would eventually become, my knowledge and firsthand experience with the latter was non-existent until 2003.

It can easily make sense in-universe why Surge constantly loses or is bested by others, despite having these strong powers. I really doubt Starline spent much, if any, time teaching Surge how to actually use her powers and strength for combat, and solely focused on just brainwashing her to be Sonic's copy. So she's purely being reactionary when fighting, instead of using any actual skill or experience. Like handing someone a tool or weapon, but not teaching them how to properly use it. Which would add another layer to the whole inner conflict of Surge being brainwashed into being laser focused into being a Sonic copy.

Yet the book and fandom keep hyping Surge up as some OMG badass undefeatable gurl boss.

Yeah, this is true. It's annoying how much Surge loses, but I also would have never wanted her to best Sonic because the gap in experience is just too big, and she would have come out as an even bigger Creator's Pet. By all means, Sonic should wipe the floor with her, it makes sense.

... the thing is that he doesn't.

Laviarray pointed this out too: fights are never about who wins, but who loses. And Surge loses without making Sonic win. In #50 she falls because of Falling Rocks. In #54 she trips on bolts, gets a bucket stuck on her head, and Tails is the one who drains her power (hey good job Tails, you did one useful thing!). In #56, she overcharges herself. And of course, in IS a big mecha knocks her out and she needs Kit to face Metal, which only adds to her pile of failures.

Laviarray finally explained one of the things that bugged me the most about Surge: she always loses, but not in a cathartic way. It's not because Sonic is too much of an obstacle for her. She's just unlucky. The writers humiliate her at every step of the way. This is why she's so unsatisfying as a foe, and what makes her shilling particularly obnoxious.
