Hi I was wonder if I request tom wachowski with a goth sister and she comes and visits and the trouble trio absolutely LOVE HER because sheās so sweet š„ŗ
Tom Wachowski with a goth sister
Hey there thanks for the ask!
Honestly Iāve been feeling like shit for the past couple of days so seeing this ask actually put me in a better mood. Hope you enjoy it ~Blaze/Dawn
Pronouns: Not mention but reader is referenced to be female
Warning: ā ļøSlight mentions of Tails and Knuckles backgrounds in the second movieā ļø
Requested: Yes/No
Characters: Tom + Maddie + Sonic + Tails + Knuckles
Proofread: ā
Credits: Poster belongs to Sega and the people who created the Sonic movie + Banner by adorbbs on Pinterest
āāāāāāāāāāā
- Letās start this off with Tom absolutely loves you, your his sister of course he does. He doesnāt care what you look like or what you do, he's going to support you all the way just like you did for him growing up and defend you from anyone who bullies you about your style. Of course heās not going to get physical because heās not really that type of person but heāll definitely give them a talking to.
- You two often like to hang out when you both have the time with him being a cop and all. Since you often like to come visit him this means that you get to see Maddie a lot as well and she absolutely loves you as well. Sheās definitely impressed with your style and absolutely loves it. I feel like sheāll definitely hype you up about what you wear. She also really appreciates your kindness and how you are willing to help her with some stuff.
- Now onto the trio:
- For Sonic I have a feeling youāve met him some point near the end of the first movie. At first you two were surprised with each other. You were surprised because there was this random creature who claimed to be a hedgehog standing in front of you and was talking to you. If it wasnāt for Tom and Maddie managing to calm you down you honestly thought you were hallucinating. As for Sonic he was mostly surprised yet interested in you. Like sure heās seen some interesting people when he was totally not stalking the town of green hills but you're different. He honestly admires you in a way. And to think that your āDonut lordsā sister just makes it even cooler.
- He definitely opens up to you quickly, this is mostly because of how you are around him. You treat him so nicely despite him clearly being different from you. If youāve seen the second movie he considers Tom like a father to him and I like to think that maybe he considers you as an aunt. He also may or may not called you aunt one time when you visited him and yes he may have gotten teased by Tom about it but honestly you didnāt even mind. You're just glad that he feels that comfortable around you that he called you that.
- He definitely asked you if he could try on some clothes and of course you let him. Although they clearly didnāt fit him due to the size difference between you two but honestly he didnāt care, heās having fun with it and may even give you a little fashion show while heās at it.
- For Tails and Knuckles theyāre kind of similar. Both of them met you at some point after the second movie. They mostly likely met you when you decided to catch up with the other three unaware of tails and knuckles. As soon as they heard the door open and to Sonic happily going over to you excited to see you with Tom and Maddie following behind him of course they got curious and when they saw you they were immediately surprised.
- For Tails I feel like heād be a little caught off guard when he first saw you. He wasnāt scared of you of course but just like Sonic he hasnāt really seen anyone like you. But despite the initial surprise from him he actually kind of admires you. He really likes how you're open about your style and not really caring about what people think about it. He really appreciates that.
- Again just like Sonic he opens up to you quickly as well. Maybe even quicker than sonic. Since he didnāt really have anyone back on his planet seeing how kind you were to not only him but other people makes him kind of want to be around you 24/7. He really likes it when you visit.
- When you do visit over he really likes to show you his gadgets that he created and hearing you saying how cool it looks and how smart he is he couldnāt help but feel really happy that you enjoy them. If you're willing to listen heāll explain in a lot of detail about them, even if you donāt really understand certain terms heās saying. Seeing that you're listening to him explain it is enough for him. Maybe if he has the time he might make something for you. As a way of saying thank you.
- For Knuckles as mentioned in some of my previous posts, it takes him a while to open up to people even if theyāre the kindest person in the world heāll have trouble opening up to them. If you consider his backstory in the second movie itās honestly understandable why. But despite this heās actually really interested in you. Unlike Tails who may be caught off guard or for Sonic who was initially surprised when first meeting you, Knuckles surprisingly took an interest in you. But despite this heās still a bit cautious of you so he kind of admires you from a distance. Eventually Tom notices this and somehow manages to convince Knuckles in one way or another to talk with you. This then eventually leads to him being more open around you.
- Heās kind of the same like Tails when it comes to being around you. Heās definitely very attached to you although not as open compared to Tails but still itās kind of obvious that he is even if he doesnāt directly say it to you. Due to this he can be protective over you. If someone even dares look at you the wrong way or comments on your looks heāll tear one into them before you eventually have to take him somewhere else.
- I feel like after hanging out with you just like Sonic he kind of sees you like an aunt due to you being related to Tom and how kind you are to him. Maybe accidentally called you aunt as well and Sonic may have teased him for it but quickly gets shut down but Tom when he said he did the exact same thing.
- Overall, although they show it differently all of them really appreciate you.

sconc middle names but me and cori are stupidt
last night me and cori got slap-happy and made a list of charactersā middle names so happy birthday sonic enjoy. tw catholicism jokes bc when we get slap happy we end up on that train
Sonic: His middle name is actually not Maurice. He wonāt tell anyone what it is but it isnāt Maurice. Not in the ānoooo itās totally not ;)ā way he legit doesnt know where anyone got that misconception from
Metal Sonic: His middle name IS Maurice. Thatās where people got that misconception from
Tails: When he and sonic were filling out paperwork to make sure he legally existed Tails realized he didnāt know his middle name and could reasonably put āTails.ā Instead he put āTerminatorā
rouge, losing it: oh my god are you serious tails: i was like five and thought it was cool sonic: you were rightĀ
Knuckles: He literally doesnāt care so once again when filling out paperwork heās like.
knuckles: so i guess my last name would be my tribe shadow: the knuckles tribe? knuckles: yeah shadow: so youāre putting down knuckles knuckles knuckles: yeah probably shadow: so whatās your middle name? knuckles: well take a fucking guess buddy
Amy: Also picked her own name. Debated between āAmyā and āRosyā for a while before sticking with āAmy Roseāā rose for the pretty flower she loves and its symbolism, āAmyā because it means āmuch lovedā and sheās desperate for affection. and then she well. picked a middle name that sounded cool
shadow: oh my god tell me your middle name isnāt āterminatorā too amy: oh my gosh no amy: amy: itās velociraptor shadow: oh my god amy: JURASSIC PARK JUST CAME OUT I WAS HYPED
Shadow: We had two (2) options: #1.) Itās something extremely Catholic like Clementinus. It doesnāt fit his brand so he just doesnāt tell anyone. also he canāt pronounce it. #2.) Itās like a deep, guttural screech/roar. Everyone assumes it was Black Doomās name for him but no that was Geraldās idea actually
Rouge: Francisca. Shadow was like āoh something really catholic as wellā āactually my family were very much not catholic thatās just a funny coincidence.ā
Omega: Terminator. Stole the idea from Tails
Cream:
Blaze: She has like 48 middle names cause sheās royalty and theyāre like that
Silver: āIn the future we donāt have middle names. We ate them for sustenance.ā
Vector: ALSO something extremely Catholic like Benedict or someshit
Espio: āA ninjaās secret name is to stay absolutely secret. It is the key to their identity. Their soul. None shall know of it.ā He picked his own middle name and it was SasuNaru and heās embarrassed about it.
Charmy: Vector named him so it is also EXTREMELY Catholic. Charmy cannot remember it. āItās VALENTINE, Charmy!! Itās literally one of the easiest Saints to remember!! Saint VALENTINE!!ā ālook i made a necklace out of gummy worms :Dā
Mighty: itās something like super normal like Evan or Thomas
Ray: Sunshine :D
Fang: Itās actually Nack. whudda think
Bean: And similar to Fang, itās ACTUALLY āDynamite.ā Did he name himself? Youāll never know.
Bark: Something super Russian like Vladimir
Big: Big has no middle name he has no last name he is too powerful for all of us
Tikal:
Tikal: yeah we didnāt have middle or surnames in my time. Closest was just āoh thatās Pachacamacās kid.ā Tails: Okay but you need a middle name for paperwork so pick something Tikal: Termi-- Knuckles: No. Tikal: Okay. Lesbian
Jet: Tony. you know why
Marine: Itās just literally āAustralianā
Sticks: āClassified.ā Everyone is like āoh geez Sticks okā and donāt realize her middle name is literally Classified
Surge: When she got to pick hers she picked Azula for obvious reasons
Kit: He picked āSurge.ā
Belle: Periwinkle
Sage: Ann Ima. believe it or not, that is also. Catholicā¢
Tekno: Terminator

It really is not just annoying, but also somewhat sad, that IDW characters can never have a meaty role without shamelessly upstaging a game character. It's the ultimate play of insecurity.
Tangle gets touted as the Sonic Female of All Time while the crewmembers drag the game females through the mud.
Whisper gets randomly fawned over by Silver and Jet of all guys.
Lanolin humiliates Silver and treats him like a child.
Rough and Tumble are too much for Cream the OP to handle.
Starline was hyped up for an extended period as Eggman's superior (no, his final fate did not undo sitting through his agonizing "Sonic VS Eggman is routine" soapboxing).
Surge is being hyped up for even longer as the most badass villain and the most badass character period, despite having absolutely nothing of merit to show for it.
Is it really that hard to find a middle ground? I get you want your character(s) to do big things and be a legitimate part of the cast instead of sitting in the background with their thumbs twiddling, but this is not the way to do it. Trip was only recently introduced to the series, and she found her place just fine. She didn't need to effortlessly beat up Sonic in concept art in order to earn her stripes. She didn't need her creators to brag that she would improve Forces through her mere presence in order to cement her value.
Look. I talk a lot about Trudy. I talk a lot about her role in my fic, her interactions, her dynamics, her abilities, her quirks, all that good stuff. I take her role in the story quite seriously, and in an age where it's become taboo to have your OC do literally anything with the game cast (because overcorrection), I've stuck to my guns and made her a big part of the fic.
But - and this is a big but - none of this comes at the cost of the other characters, or the story as a whole. Sonic is still Sonic, and acts as you'd expect from him. Tails is still Tails, and isn't dismissed by the narrative as a mere sidekick to prop up Trudy as the "true" hero by comparison. Amy is still her bubbly self, not morphed into a Sally clone. Cream is still capable, despite her youth and innocence, and her bond with Trudy doesn't reduce her to literal baby. Eggman treats Trudy no differently from the rest of the cast, and he sure as hell doesn't show any fear at the prospect of facing her. Stellar is not little more than The Trudy Show: it's Sonic's latest adventure in a new land that Trudy happens to be tagging along for, and how he leaves an impression on her. Just like Unleashed did with Chip, and Secret Rings did with Shahra, among other examples.
Even Sonudis, for as Never Going To Happen In Canon For Very Obvious Reasons as it is, is still made with the mentality of not only what Sonic himself is actually like in canon, but the others too. It's not a shallow bait that exists solely to exist, it's something I took seriously in regards to how it could potentially work without sacrificing Sonic's official characterization. Is it a fanfic cliche? Is it self-indulgent? Maybe, but writing fanfic in general is inherently self-indulgent. The sooner you accept that, the better. But as fanfic-y as some concepts may be, I still try to portray them as naturally and as faithfully as I can in respect to the games that spawned this franchise. That includes not reducing Sonic to a lap dog with no independence or backbone.
You can make your character important, and even give them a risky role if you're daring, without disrespecting the game cast and what they contribute to the franchise.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles (Knuckles) Part 3: Hyper not living up to the hype
Unfortunately I had to cut this one short because I had to stop the session, so itās just me Emerald hunting
So while weāre here what about those Super and Hyper forms for Tails and Knuckles?
Theyāre lame
I donāt understand why Sonic gets to have a unique design, but Tails and Knuckles (and later Amy, Mighty and Ray) only get to glow a little. They donāt even fly! Tails is especially egregious because he still needs his tails to fly and can still get tired!
Not only is it lame from a gameplay perspective (Tailsā invincible flickies would be great if not for the fact that he himself is already invincible thus making it much faster to kill enemies yourself, and Hyper Knuckles is literally just Super Knuckles except he has a wall smash attack that is nowhere close to being as versatile and fun as Hyper Sonicās hyper dash), it also makes little sense from a lore perspective
I know that the wholeĀ āSega said only male hedgehogs can turn Superā has (from what understand at least) been proven by a member of Sonic Team itself to be misinformation, but this is one of those cases where I think the games themselves donāt do themselves any favors because look: Sonic, Shadow and Silver get proper Super forms, all the others only have them in the Classic games and they just glow a bit, while in the modern games no one else ever turns Super and that one time in Heroes Tails and Knuckles only receive Super Shields from Super Sonic. The only exception to the rule being Blaze really. Itās easy to imagine, even from an outside perspective, that the super forms of most characters that we see in the classic games are a purely gameplay related thing and not story canon. Iām not claiming thatās the case, just that that would be an easy conclusion to come to just looking at the material on its own
Furthermore it just doesnāt make sense period: Knuckles should have more proficiency at handling the Emeralds given his ties to the Master Emerald, honestly he should be second only to Shadow! I remember reading somwhere that the reason why Tails needs the Super Emeralds to transform is because he has little experience. I wanna stress that I donāt know if this is official or fan theory, but either way itās just nonsense: oh sure he doesnāt have the ability to handle the powers of the Emeralds, but their more powerful versions? He can handle those no issue!
And if we really wanted to follow this type of logic then, again, Sonic himself should have trouble using the Emeralds, because he, by this point, has only encountered them 3 times, and the first time it wasnāt even the full set! Yet he can totally use their full power by his second adventure with them, while Tails for some reason still has issues and Knuckles, the guy whoās spent his life guarding the biggest Emerald of all, can just do the bare minimum with them?
And for the record: no Iām not saying I want everyone to spam Super forms all willy nilly. But when I see Sonic go Super to fight the latest threat while the others just stay back and cheer him up I would really like to know why exactly itās always just him and maybe one other guy whoās turning Super instead of the whole gang which, yāknow, would be more practical? (I mean look at SA2: Sonic and Shadow turn Super to fight the Biolizard while Knuckles, the guy who should also be able to go Super according to S3, just stays there literally slack jawed)

the vocal themes from frontiers describe a specific theme on their lyrics and it gradually turns from fear to acceptance (i suppose)Ā iāll be talking abt these (in the order of their āappearanceā in game): iām here, undefeatable, break through it all, find your flame, vandalize.
(also spoilers)
iām here is a lot about doubting and reassurance. it starts with sonicĀ āleaving the life he knew beforeāĀ āfinding the truth of who heās meant to becomeā, revealing a degree of uncertainty. despite the fact sonic has always moved forward,Ā āto new horizonsā, heĀ āfights this fear, with his lifeā, fights the fear of losing his friends. but in the next pre-chorus, it seems like he can hear his friends (ādonāt be afraid, i will be with youā) who are trying to reassure him and give him the strength he needs to keep on fighting. in the end, he still moves forward, but now heās more assured asĀ āthe way aheadās becoming clear.ā
undefeatable is about a strong sense of confidence that overshadows the real emotions sonic is feeling (a topic touched by the next song as well). thatās mostly fear. sonic seems to be handling everything well so far, even saying thatĀ āthink im on 11 but im on a 9, guess u dont really know meā which shows he really believes he is āundefeatableā and that makes sense, especially since he is in his super form for the first time since the beginning of their adventure and is certain the chaos emeralds will help him complete his mission (he doesnt know yet that the emeralds disperse after visiting a different island). however, he keeps repeatingĀ āface your fearā and it serves as a reminder to himself that he cant avoid this emotion.Ā āi used to never know/this feelingās just a ghostā is him trying to persuade himself that this fear is momentary and that he has to focus on the battle to keep moving forward.
break through it all is about accepting and overcoming the fear. sonic still tries to convince himself to keep the fight going (ādont look downā) but at the same time heās calling out to his enemy (āshow yourselfā). thatās when heās found most of his friends but has yet to find tails. he wants to end this and quickly, so he doesnt wait for the enemy to appear on its own. now he knows that heĀ ācant hide from what he feelsā, heās still afraid but more determined (āno more compromise, this is do or dieā) and ready to risk it all. half of the chorus is sonicās friends hyping him up, telling him that heĀ āwont fade out, cuz the fire in him never diesā and that he shouldnt stop cuz they have a mission. sonic has been listening to them and he knows they have been with him this whole time, so he accepts that they will be okay cuz they are fighting alongside him (āwe wont stop until the battleās wonā) and until the end of the song, sonic talks on behalf of all of them.Ā
find your flame is about the ultimate disappearance of that fear. theres no fear overshadowing what he has to do (ātake a seat, im on a missionā) and heās carrying his friends with him in this one (āwe wont back downā). sonic has surpassed his frontiers (āim here to go beyond my limitā), he is at the worst state possible (cybercorrpution) and is eager to end the fight, even more now that hes reunited with his little bro. (āiāve been waiting for my moment to strikeā). he has no inhibitions, heās not restraining himself, heās not feigning confidence but he is filled with it (all the pre-chorus indicates that).Ā
now, heres an interesting take (which ofc may be completely wrong but oh well):Ā āwill the whole world know your name/ when we dance with destiny?ā is a line asked by sage, trying to understand sonic.Ā āim never gonna stop believingā is tailsā response as he tries to prevent sonic from doubting himself. he is the only one who has been with sonic for the longest time, the only one whoĀ āhas been there and has seen itā, sonicās willpower and strength, so he reminds him thatĀ āheāll find his flameā (it connects with the conversation sage and tails had regarding sonicās abilities). and now, sonic is sure that this isĀ āthe end of the showā and that heāll find his flame thanks to his friends.Ā
vandalize is about the aftermath. sonic was betrayed (āyou promised to help me rebuild/you caught me off guardā) he is in pain. this whole adventure has left a mark, it has vandalized his heart. from losing his friends, to finding them, to not being able to save them, to having to find the chaos emeralds again and again while fighting the cyber corruption and then getting betrayed but also barely managing to make it out in one piece yet not being able to save everyone (rip sage). thereās no fear. just determination, certainty. and pain. even when the physical pain stops, the emotional damage (LOL) has been dealt. no matter what happens next, this adventure has left a mark on sonic.
#thats all i guess#(Not me singing bring you back while writing this down)#im bored to edit this further so#here you go people#what do yall think#sonic frontiers spoilers#sonic frontiers#sth#sonic the hedgehog#miles tails prower#sonic and tails#sage the ai#im here#undefeatable#break through it all#find your flame#vandalize

Thoughts on The Super Mario Bros Movie
Spoilers ahead
- - -
Positives
- The fact that Bowser's entire plan to get the Power Star was just so he could use it as a proposal gift to Peach is hilarious š¤£
- Jumpman!
Syrprised no one has mentioned this yet. No seriously this cameo made me smile so hard š And yes it is Charles Martinet, and yes he is playing "Jumpman" in the background!
I just thought it was very sweet and YES while he doesn't look like game Mario, it was the best way they could've done it in, my opinion.
- The family was charming!
Honestly when I heard they had a whole family I got very worried that they would be taking up so much screen time.
It's like the issue I have with the humans in the Sonic movie's so far - they are not terrible, but I find it hard to care about them when they are not the main characters, and they go and high jack the movie.
But surprisingly, they aren't in it for too long! They are only at the beginning and end, and serve their purpose. In short, I am ok with them šļæ½ļæ½
- Bowser is perfect!
They got Bowser so right - honestly was a bit worried that he was just going to be a love struck clown throughout the whole thing...but when he gets mad or something doesn't go his way - he's terrifying! They really captured the fury of what a monster he is, both Jack Black and the animators šš»
- OK now I know the other reason why they hired Jack Black! Bowser being a secret rocking music dude is not what I was expecting, and I love it š¤£šš»
- The fight scenes
DAMN! They did not hold back on these! The way the characters hit each other, the number of times Mario should've been dead with how hard he got smacked around. Dang it's brutal! And I love it!
Gotta mention the epic DK/Cat Mario, Rainbow Road š, and Bowser/Luigi/Mario fights!!! So good š
- The Bros reunion
Need to mention it here, even though I already knew about it and gushed about it so many times there is literally nothing else I can say! It's a beautiful moment and even though it's quick I'm so glad they took the time to make that a moment ā¤š
- THE BROS FIGHTING TOGETHER
Kudos to the movie for never forgetting the true heart of the movie - the Bros' relationship. Luigi coming in to defend Mario, the Bros taking each other's hand, them running to the star together, Bowser being absolutely pummelled by them! It's so good!!! ššš I could watch that all day!
- This movie actually made me like Donkey Kong but not Seth Rogan
- I like what they did with the Kong's being a whole kingdom and like a big family š
- DIDDY KONG GOT A LINE
- Toad is a funky dude. Please give him more in the sequel!
- I like the fact the end credits was so open. Yes I am aware some are upset that Daisy, Wario, Waluigi, and even Rosalina did not appear. But I think that it's a good thing. It shows that Nintendo and Universal did not want to hype up too much, just in case of the possibility of a sequel never happening (you can't really tell with Hollywood sometimes...) and it just means they got time to work on it.
This is the issue I had with Tails being introduced at the end of the Sonic Movie. They hyped him up so much, only for the writers to have to try and write in a sloppy reason in Sonic Movie 2 for why he is there.
It's clear this movie was a MARIO movie. Not hyping up too much for a cinematic universe or trying to get to the sequel - and I appreciate that immensely.
- The fact that Foreman Spike and Peach (two characters who have been in the same franchise but have never interacted due to the time and console releases their intro games took place in) suddenly sharing the same space in a movie??? That is surreal to me.
Negatives
Technically these aren't so much negatives - just nit picks and little annoyances I found that they could've done better - and also talk about some complaints other people have mentioned.
- The pacing
Yes everyone has talked about this - and they aren't wrong about it...but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! Yes some scenes did seem to be on fast forward, just so the writers could get to the parts they really wanted to do...but when you also look at it from the perspective of urgency that the Mushroom Kingdom is under, some of it does make sense.
But still, the movie does tend to move at too fast a pace sometimes. But it is a fun rush. I can't really find a middle ground with it...
- Slow mo
No seriously did Zach Snyder take over at some point? There were too many pointless slow mo scenes for my liking.
- The pop songs
Not as bad as I thought they were going to be - but I still can't stand pop songs on Mario and I especially hate 80s songs!
In fact, what bothered me the most was the weird opera song they kept playing during their scuffle with the dog. Not only is it obnoxious, but it's playing so loud over the sounds and voices that you can't process anything effectively. It's weird and should've just been left out of the scene.
- Cranky's voice
Literally the only voice in the movie I felt did not fit the character at all. He should've sounded more old and grumpy.
- The fact it went by so fast!!! It was such a rush it went so quick. I wanted to stay in the MK forever š
- Luigi being absent
Honestly, yes we needed more of the Bros, but it was inevitable that Luigi wasn't going to have more screen time. Yes it is sad a prison breakout did not happen, but with all the footage they revealed up until release, it became more clear to me thst this wasn't going to happen. There just wasn't going to be time. I'm not upset about it, but we definitely need more in the sequel.

Im gonna post the trailer here tomorrow but here are my thoughts
EGGMAN IS BACK and WOW. HE uhm, certainly changed a lot since his defeat in the last movie.
MARIA!! I like that they updated her look to be in line with the 70s
Sadly there seems to be no Amy or Rouge. As much as i like the movies i cant take the lack of female characters. Yeah maddie is cool and all but I expected more game characters
Esspcially jarring since amy and rouge played prominent roles in SA2. Sorry but adapting into a new story isn't an excuse to exclude them
I don't think Shadow will kill Tom. I have no idea where that theory came from.
I heard rumors Maddie might be pregnant so... this means she'll likely get sidelined.
Kristen Ritter is playing a GUN agent. We dont have her name but i think she could be Rouge's replacement.
Stone is still loyal as ever. Glad that they're not pulling a dumb twist like they did to Dr. Starline.
THE ANIMATION HELLO??? look i dont care in the cartoon community has a bias against 3d it looks so darn AMAZING. Ithe designs are also more colorful than the previous 2
Im concerned with some of the changes in the story, mainly GUN asking Sonic for help capturing Shadow. It just seems like another attempt by Hollywood to make Sonic a traditional superhero a la the Avengers when that's not his style.
Jim Carrey seemingly playing Gerald tbought this just might be a dream sequence. Like he imagiens meeting his childhood hero and in true Eggman fashion sees Gerald as an extension of himself, only to find out there's more to the story than he initially believed
And ofc course how could I forget the man of the hour :D
Shadow looks AMAZING!! He really does resemble his game counterpart, and Keanu's voice fits him nicely (my personal gripes aside).
I read a comment on twitter that Shadow's skating looks a lot like a king cobra and now im loving it even more. Just those minute details really help to make his character shine without being too loud.
Man poor Knuckles and Tails, they get the butt kicked out of them :P
THE MOTORCYCLE IS HERE I REPEAT; THE MOTORCYCLE IS HERE!!!!!!
Sonic sounds a bit serious in some scenes, a testament to Ben's voice acting ability.
I think i saw glimpses of the ARK
It seems that Maria's death might be changed to a bombing. Honestly that's more BRUTAL than her og death š
THE CHAO????
Overall, it's a cool trailer and i really hope the movie lives up to the hype!

Initially I thought Knuckles and Jet could fit equally good as either Dagur or Snoutlout (I'm never getting used with his original name LOL), but then nah... Dagur is too much villainous in the start, like he is deliberately such a madman and had such a charisma being that villain and was so into being like that by his pure free will plus the way he was used to see the world and such that not Knuckles or Jet can fit, none of them were ever evil to begin with, one was misguided and the other is just not exactly good as well.
Knuckles being there was only guided by the aesthetic since you're considering Blaze to be Heather and then the two āØguardiansāØwould be the siblings and it made sense to me for a time.
Meanwhile I just thought on Jet because of SatBK, as many point out Lamorak and Percival are siblings in the Arthurian Stories, that's it...
Buuuuuut y'know what, or rather who, have a personality that matches with Dagur? Infinite! Yes, I'm suggesting him, I feel like he has the vibes to take Dagur's role.
Then we get who would be Snoutlout and a further thought put Jet out, Initially they seemed equally perfect as them both have that dynamic, like they hype themselves and even boast like they were better than Sonic, but then the narrative is like "actually, Sonic is just as good as them... I think he's even better lol" if it even makes sense...
But then, let's be real, if there's something ridable in the universe, Jet is doing that years before than Sonic (Uh, he could be one of that group that raises the kind of dragon Heather rides, which I'm not sure of the name in the original dub)
Also, Snoutlout is kinda like Hiccup's first rival, just like Knuckles, so yeah, Knux is the better suĆted.
I won't lie, I also think Vector could work as Snoutlout, his attitude + the soft and sensible side he gets in the series (and I think were carried to the second and third movies I need to rewatch) + the kid he have quite a quarrelsome big-lil bros dynamic with made Vec just pop around here
So in short, I invaded your Ask Box to suggest you to put Infinite in Dagur's role and that somehow I suggest Knuckles and Vector equally to Snoutlout's role
I thought about the twins too, but the fact one of them ends with Fishleg, who iirc is Tails, makes it harder
Yeah Jet never really wanted to KILL Sonic so he doesn't quite fit Dagur, and as you say Knuckles was just misguided and eventually becomes besties with Sonic - which is why I feel he works better as Snotlout too!
I DID actually think of Infinite as Dagur!! Even before Blaze as Heather (which might have been Chaz's idea I don't remember who said it first now lol). Cuz he definitely does fit how Dagur acts in riders/defenders but not really in rtte where he has a complete personality change and decides to be good sjfjdhfgd. But it could still work perhaps... there's enough reformed Infinite aus out there that it wouldn't be TOO weird lol. I'll see I'll see, again I'm not sticking with all the canon relationships so he doesn't have to be Blaze's brother if I do have him as Dagur.
Also I'm crying do you mean Mala? Jet as Mala, queen of the defenders of the wing? Who ends up married to Dagur?? Maybe you meant one of the others but I'm LOSING it at Jet/Infinite... that's so funny I've never considered that ship ever. Yeah why not Jet can be Mala LMAO
I don't think I would consider Vector as Snotlout (sorry) just cuz I wanted the main squad to be the classic characters y'know? And Shadow lol. That said, my original line up was Jet as Snotlout, Tails as Fishlegs, Knuckles as Tuffnut and Amy as Ruffnut. However. And I'm very sorry about this... I just don't like Jet. I don't have any real reasons, I just don't lmao so I didn't want him to be part of the main gang ^^;
I did have a vague thought of Vector being Gobber but idk... if he was he definitely wouldn't have the same dynamic with Aleena that Gobber and Stoick do lol!!
Someone mentioned Sticks as Tuffnut which is hilarious but they wouldn't have the same dynamic as Ruff and Tuff so idk. That's why I thought of just having 5 of them rather than 6 and not having twins at all (rip). Amy and Knuckles can still have the headbutting dynamic as they're both pretty hot headed, they don't need to be related to do that!
If we wanna talk about canon httyd relationships then Fishlegs also dates Heather in rtte, as well as Snotlout having a GIANT gay crush on Fishlegs in one ep, and the both of them fighting over Ruffnut in the 2nd movie. So like I'm not gonna be doing all that don't worry skfhfhsgs I'm picking and choosing the dynamics I like and want to keep.
#i see the riders gang as a polycule which i'm definitely not doing in this au#but!! thank u for ur thoughts!!#i'm glad infinite as dagur makes sense to someone else as it was my first thought for him#i might make him more petty than dagur when he reforms though#also shout out to chaz fleetways they're why i came up w this au in the first place#answered#sth httyd au

I feel like this is a growing side effect of fans being starved from Tails being the non-action tech guy for so long to where Forces caused a boiling point for so many, some are latching onto Nine or IDW in spite of it. (I argue Tails got drowned out often even back then when characters like Shadow, Silver, and Blaze were a huge talking point back in the 2000s. But still in good standing before Unleashed and Colors.)
While I'm glad the movie and Prime made Tails in general a big talking point again; more positively this time, I am mixed on it coming at the expense of his Modern self. MOSTH and Modern being playable again later in Frontiers is a start, but he's probably not going to really shake this off until he goes solo for a bit in a upfront way. (That, and having more interactions outside of Sonic to show off more of his character. Love their bond, don't love how fans treat it so one-sided when discussing it.)
Anon, you're probably right.
(Though I don't really see what is there to latch onto in idw, he doesn't really do much? I wouldn't even say his characterization is bad, it's just that he kinda. Exists around. I see people hype up idw Tails and I'm like. Wow no wonder people think he's boring and lame if this is what passes for good Tails representation)
The thing with Unleashed and Colors is interesting, because I feel like the characters who had good early portrayals (the aforementioned Blaze, Shadow and Silver) but hadn't appeared since are still remembered as competent and cool characters because this characterization is still fresh in people's minds even though it was so long ago, while due to Tails having more appearances he's more remembered for the more recent ones... (and probably there's a part of "Why can't my supercool fave be in this game, why is Tails here, he's lame!")
I feel there's also the thing that all of those characters had very... impressive introductions. No matter how bad the writing for Shadow gets people can go back to his introductory game and remember what he was invisioned to be as a character, etc.
But Tails's backstory is all in the manual. He even has a little character arc (seeing Sonic, becoming more optimistic and learning to fly/run fast enough to keep up with Sonic, meeting Sonic for the first time and following him into battle), and it's not only only in the manual, it happens before the events of the game itself. Even Knuckles has more of a character arc/involvement in his introductory game plot. (This is how we ended up with early adaptations where Tails thinks that math is yucky and hard despite canon Tails literally being an engineer) Tails just. Doesn't get to make the same impression, and never will, because he's a 30+ old character and that ship has sailed. (And it's ironic to see how people latched onto Nine since he's technically having the same arc, it's just like you know... Show, don't tell. It really works. (And also he's angsty, that helps too))
Yeah... I love people being excited about versions of Tails from adaptations, but it really brings me down when people use them to talk shit about mainline Tails. You know what this reminds me of? When there's a new Scooby Doo adaptation and everyone is like "Finally they fixed Daphne so she's competent and isn't a damsel in distress anymore". And it's like. Do you know anything about Daphne. And. Why are you giving credit to the adaptation for doing something that has always been a thing?
I'm not expecting Frontiers to break through Tails's public image either, but I hope he at least has an enjoyable gameplay so people could be like "Wow that was fun! I wish Sega would make even more games where you could play as Tails!" :3c And then maybe we could get this "solo adventure".
(Though the way it's worded in Frontiers it's more of a "Tails is going to the mountains to train" than "Tails is becoming a solo operation". Like he clearly just wants to get "stronger"(in a broad sense of the word. Though personally I think what he actually needs is to stop basing his self worth on his usefulness and Sonic's opinions. Ironically if he was more like Sonic in this way he would be happier) and is expecting to get back to Sonic at some point. I could live with this though, I don't mind it at all as long as he's actually treated as Sonic's partner afterwards rather than a cute accessory that Sonic talks to so he doesn't look weird talking to the broken robots.)
I love tmosth! Ian Sr is such a good writer, honestly I don't know about his abilities to write a cool adventure plot, but he has the character voices nailed down! (Except for maybe kleptomania jokes with Rouge) But Tails was so good! He was basically a co-protag with Barry (they had a very cute dynamic), we saw him interacting with other characters who aren't Sonic (honestly he and Sonic barely interact with each other there at all), he took charge of the investigation and got to show off his smarts beyond "I fix this broken thing like it's magic"(Though he did that as well!), and he was still shown to be insecure and childish at times, it's just *clenches fist* so good.
Sorry had to take a break to gush, this post was becoming too negative ahaha. Ok back to it.
The Unbreakable Bond thing. Yeah... I also love their relationship, but the fact that Tails doesn't really have developed relationships with the rest of the cast makes him feel very isolated and like his life revolves around Sonic. Even Amy and Knuckles, whose most developed relationships are with Sonic as well, have other characters that they interact with without Sonic being involved, (or at least used to interact with), like Rouge or Cream. Who does Tails have? Professor Pickle? Barry? Please. Tails is getting suffocated by the soulmate bond.
(And I don't love to criticize how other fans engage with the franchise because I also have my silly headcanons and interpretations. Like. I literally hc Tails as nonbinary which he isn't, in canon, as far as I'm aware. But. Yeah sometimes it feels like people are more into the idea of Sonic having a little brother that he can dote on. Rather than, you know. Sonic & Tails's actual relationship. Like I literally saw someone say (genuinely as far as I could guess) "Sonic sacrificed so much to raise Tails" and like. Ok. It's time to step back a little and look at the actual canon content. Sonic didn't even know where Tails's house was in sa1, what exactly is he sacrificing with such attentive parenting I wonder. But I do also love cute brotherly bonding stuff so. (One of the reasons why I love aosth so much, though there are other reasons as well. Also while I'm complaining, nobody understands the "Mom, Dad and the Picket Fence" thing.))
Sorry if this post got a big edgy at times, sometimes I start going and slip into it a little bit, even though I'm generally trying not to complain too much about the stuff I don't like and instead focus on the things I do.
#tails#project.txt#project.ask#tails the fox#miles tails prower#negativity#rant#idw critical#<- again I'm not really criticizing anything but I feel like I got a little mean so just in case#long post#also... I'm really hoping we could get Sage and Tails as rivals later on#especially looking at the japanese adaptation of frontiers. i feel like there are things they could have in common but have different#stances on and it could really help to flesh out and develop both of them as characters especially if tails does stick with#his character development from the game

It can easily make sense in-universe why Surge constantly loses or is bested by others, despite having these strong powers. I really doubt Starline spent much, if any, time teaching Surge how to actually use her powers and strength for combat, and solely focused on just brainwashing her to be Sonic's copy. So she's purely being reactionary when fighting, instead of using any actual skill or experience. Like handing someone a tool or weapon, but not teaching them how to properly use it. Which would add another layer to the whole inner conflict of Surge being brainwashed into being laser focused into being a Sonic copy.
Yet the book and fandom keep hyping Surge up as some OMG badass undefeatable gurl boss.
Yeah, this is true. It's annoying how much Surge loses, but I also would have never wanted her to best Sonic because the gap in experience is just too big, and she would have come out as an even bigger Creator's Pet. By all means, Sonic should wipe the floor with her, it makes sense.
... the thing is that he doesn't.
Laviarray pointed this out too: fights are never about who wins, but who loses. And Surge loses without making Sonic win. In #50 she falls because of Falling Rocks. In #54 she trips on bolts, gets a bucket stuck on her head, and Tails is the one who drains her power (hey good job Tails, you did one useful thing!). In #56, she overcharges herself. And of course, in IS a big mecha knocks her out and she needs Kit to face Metal, which only adds to her pile of failures.
Laviarray finally explained one of the things that bugged me the most about Surge: she always loses, but not in a cathartic way. It's not because Sonic is too much of an obstacle for her. She's just unlucky. The writers humiliate her at every step of the way. This is why she's so unsatisfying as a foe, and what makes her shilling particularly obnoxious.

"Sonic? Like, The Hedgehog?" Chapter 3
The thing about being a global hero whose entire schtick is running faster than the eye can see is that, well, people donāt actually see an awful lot of him. They know his name, they know what heās done, and they recognise the iconic blue blur he leaves in his wakeābut, just walking down the street, you donāt expect every single blue Mobian you see to be the one that routinely fights off giant mechs and ancient deities.Ā Really, how were they supposed to know who the guy actually was? (Or: Five times Sonic invoked the Tony Hawk phenomenon, and one time someone recognised him.)
First Chapter, Second Chapter, Ao3 Version Despite the title of this chapter, there's not any real descriptions of injuries beyond the passing mention of one happening, so don't worry if that's something you're not big on!! Either way, hope you enjoy!! :D
Chapter 3: First Aid
(Fic under the cut!!)
-
Despite the tournament very obviously being another one of Doctor Eggmanās weird schemes, Peter is still pretty excited for the EX World Grand Prix. He can never resist a chance to see some Extreme Gear in action, and he heard the group calling themselves the Babylon Rogues are participatingāsure, theyāre thieves, but theyāre also some of the best Extreme Gear users aroundāsue him for being just a tad hyped up about it.Ā
Also, the money for acting as an onsite paramedic for the whole thing is really good. Peter can either stay home and find out about an Eggman attack on the news, or he can be at the Eggman attack where everyoneās flying around on Extreme Gear, help out, and get paid. Really, itās not even a choice.Ā
As always, heās got to keep a level head on his shoulders while heās working, just in case anything happens, though he canāt help the slight swell of excitement as he meets with the seven competitors, all holding their boards. He was assigned the task of meeting with each beforehand to discuss anything the paramedic team might need to know about them during an emergencyāallergies, preexisting conditions, and the like. Itās not the most pleasant topic, but still, even if he canāt linger, heās elated to meet all of them up close.Ā
The first three, Peter recognises on sight.Ā
Itās hard not to know who Tails is, based on his characteristic namesakes alone. The kid is bright, enthusiasticāhe answers all of the necessary questions politely and succinctly, though when the puffin expresses even a hint of interest, he begins to talk about all the research heās been doing on Extreme Gear schematics at roughly a thousand miles per hour. If the puffin didnāt have only the allotted time to see them, heād have loved nothing more than to keep listening to the fox talk. The kidās a genius; he can see why heās become so well known for giving Eggman a run for his money.Ā
Knucklesā defining characteristic is pretty much hisā¦ everything, considering heās the last echidna alive, and he answers Peterās questions easily enoughāalbeit, it feels a little awkward having to ask if thereās anything significant about echidna biology that the paramedic team might need to know. A little bit of a grumpy teenager, although, to be honest, he really canāt blame the guy. He didnāt expect the echidna to be into Extreme Gear; perhaps he only came because of the connection to Eggman, and the others asked for him to be here. Maybe living on a floating island helps with the vertigo?
The last of the heroes is Amy Rose, coming into the room decked out in full athletic gear. Sheās as chatty as anything; every answer to his questions is probably about three sentences longer than it needs to be, butā¦ well, itās much better to over-explain than under. She tells him sheās ecstatic to participate in the tournamentāalthough, quietly, she warns him that Eggmanās probably going to pull something during the event, and asks that he keeps himself safe. The compassion of the girl is heart-warming, but he tells her she doesnāt have to worry about him. She just needs to show off her Extreme Gear skills, and heāll concern himself with any injuries that may occur, should Eggman attempt an attack.Ā
The Babylon Rogues are just as blasĆ© about his questions as he was expecting them to be, certain that their mastery of the gear will leave no room for injury. Thoughā¦ Wave does ask how prepared they are to treat someone whoās fallen far off their board. If heās being honest, Peter doesnāt think sheās asking for herself. Heās excited to see them race, of course, but he dreads to think of anything happening to those little heroes, when they should just be able to enjoy a good competition for onceāsomething where the world isnāt ending. All he can do is raise the red flag to his colleagues and keep doing his job.
The last competitor, heās not sure is anyone as notorious as the last six. A blue hedgehog with green goggles on his head, presumably to shield his eyes from the drag while heās riding. His shoes are pretty dang fancyāspecialised for Extreme Gear, heās sureābut beyond that, nothing really sticks out. His demeanourās friendly, easy-going, and his tone is joking when he answers the questions, but Peterās fairly certain heās being sincere when he says they wonāt need to worry too much about him, anyway.Ā
āYouāve got real courage going up against all these big names,ā The puffin laughs, not unkindly. āBut good luck, kid. Iām sure youāll do great.ā
The hedgehog grins, giving him a bright thumbs upāitās a familiar sort of gesture, he thinks, but he canāt quite put his feathers on it. āAh, donāt worry. I always pull through in the end.ā He reassures, and once heās sure all the questions have been covered, he leaves the guy to his last-minute preparations.Ā
The Grand Prix is, in all honesty, just as exhilarating to watch as the puffin hoped it would be. The larger medical team is handling any issues that the audiences might have, so the competitorsā paramedic team are free to watch the racesāthey kind of have toāand Peter has absolutely no complaints on that front. Itās thrilling to look at them all dart about in the air, pulling off increasingly absurd stunts to get ahead of each other. He canāt wait to get home and watch it all again on tape.
Heās not surprised that one of the Babylon Rogues wins each of the first couple of races, but heās elated for the heroes when they get their bearings and start pulling ahead. More shocking than that, though, is how quickly the hedgehog is outmanoeuvring themāheād wanted the kid to do well, but he hadnāt been expecting him to come first in the penultimate race. Peterās pretty certain heās going to win the whole thing. Thereās only one point between him and who he assumes is the leader of the Babylon Rogues now, and the last race awards the most points.
Finally, everyoneās convened in the Sand Ruins, the main paramedicās station situated underneath an awning to shield from the sun. Thereās other tents posited in different parts of the course, to ensure thereās always staff close by, but Peter himself is in the colosseum, watching the race unfold from the huge screens at the front alongside everyone else.
Itās close. When heād watched the first race, heād expected the whole competition to be a clean sweep for the Babylon Rogues, but not only do the others gain on them, some of them even outpace them; Wave falls away from the race with a careening loop as Tails pulls ahead, the team by the section radioing in that sheās okay. Call it beginnerās luck, but the puffin is pretty dang impressed.
In the end, itās the leader of the Babylon Rogues and the hedgehog fighting it out for first place. In terms of technical skill with the boards, itās clear that the hawk is better, but the other is using the terrain in a way Peterās never seen anyone pull off without breaking something. Even on the projectors, he can see the bright grin on the teenagerās face, adrenaline pushing him forward with wild joy; as they split into the stadium, Peter is genuinely convinced that the hedgehogās going to win.
Nothing was going wrong until it was. One second, the hedgehogās on a straight-shot to first placeāthe next, something on his board is blowing out under his feet, and heās sent tumbling towards the ground from a height that makes the puffin break out in a cold sweat.Ā
Immediately, he and two other paramedics are rushing forward, forcing themselves to ignore the rumbling of the crowd and the competitors flying overhead. Heās the first to make it to the teenager, just as the kidās stiltedly attempting to sit up. He puts a hand to the hedgehogās shoulder, and avoids the side heād seen him land on for now.
āYou alright, kid?ā He says, purposefully calm even as a strange anger wells in his chest. The kid was winning; that was all heād been trying to do, and Peterās pretty sure he knows why that didnāt happen.Ā
To his credit, if anythingās bothering him, the hedgehog doesnāt show it on his face. āAll good!ā He smiles, just slightly hoarse from the dust that got kicked up when he fell. One of the paramedics has a bottle of water, and the kid takes it gratefully, opening it up for a long sip, gaze still trained on the hawk waving to the crowd behind the finish line, ascending the stairs towards the Chaos Emeralds.
āDoes anything hurt? You donāt feel dizzy or nauseous?ā He questions once the hedgehogās put the bottle down.Ā
The kidās response is just slightly absent, still focused on whatever the rogueās doing at the pedestal. āNothing but scrapes.ā He says, even as the puffin spots a small burn from the blast on the arm opposite and starts to get something out of the first aid kit. āYou donāt need to worry about me.ā
Honestly, what is it with kids these days and being so dang valiant? If Peter had just fallen from that height, heād have lay on that floor groaning for a good ten minutes. The teenagerās already hankering to stand.Ā
The puffin wasnāt paying any attention to what the rogue was doing on the pedestal, but the hedgehog clearly was, because he startles and yells out just as a bright beam of light flashes out from the direction of the Chaos Emeralds. Everyone turns to find the hawk holding a strange blue cube, and the pulsing glow is the only warning they get before the ground begins to rumble. Peter holds the kidās shoulder to make sure he doesnāt fallājust in case the sudden shaking makes him dizzy.Ā
Peter watches, utterly flabbergasted, as an entire island bursts out of the ground like a volcanic eruption, ascending into the air in ancient-looking pieces. Thereās a brief pause where no one seems to know what to do, before everything rockets into fast forward. Eggman appears over the crowd to snatch whatever that cube thing is out of the hawkās handsāyelling something about Babylonian treasureāand Amy Rose sprints forward out of nowhere, taking a running leap and grabbing onto the Eggmobile before it can take off.Ā
He goes to look at the teenager next to him, to gauge if the chaos has affected him anyābut the kidās already shrugging his hand off, turning to look behind him.Ā
āTails! Knuckles!ā He calls, and sure enough, the two are sprinting towards them with their Extreme Gear in hand. āCome on, we gotta go get Eggman!ā
The hedgehog rushes off in a streak of cobalt blue like he hadnāt just been lying prone on the floor mere minutes before. Peter and the other paramedics can do nothing but stare on as the three leap in the air and take off in a near synchronised motion, feeling all at once incredibly oblivious as the dots finally connect.Ā
Dang, heās an idiot. āDid anyone else know that was Sonic The Hedgehog?ā He asks, just slightly hysterical. āOr am I just completely stupid? Because I feel completely stupid.ā
āHe entered the competition with his team. I literally saw his name on the medical forms.ā His colleague wheezes, and the sheer stress in their voice makes him feel just a little better. āI just thought āoh, hey, what a neat coincidence! Guess it must be a popular name these days!ā. Good Gaia.ā
Peter sincerely hopes theyāre all getting paid extra for this, becauseāquite franklyānone of what just happened was mentioned in the contract. He should really give his therapist a call.Ā

Thoughts on Sonic Frontiers?
Oh man where do I even begin.
The wait for this game was a roller-coaster of emotions for me. I wasn't too interested in it at first and had no means to play it anyway since I didn't have my PS4 yet. But the more that was revealed, the more excited I got. I've always wanted to run around as Sonic in an open world and Frontiers kept looking more and more promising. But with hype came anxiety too. Part of me feared that the first Sonic game I've been excited for in years was gonna flop horribly and that all my hype would be for nothing. It did not disappoint.
I love this game. It's moody and atmospheric. The way the game is first presented to you through the tutorial level is perfect. Sonic starting in a dark, closed off corridor with no direction but to go towards the blinding light up ahead, slowly revealing the world to you as your eyes adjust but only a small strip of the island to get the players comfortable. I loved the somber music and the rain, it really added to Sonic's feeling of loneliness in an unknown location. Then once you get out of that tutorial area, you get this huge pan view of the actual island and the real game starts.
The funnest part of the game for me is how it encourages you to find certain landmark puzzles in order to unlock more of the map. Until then, you're running around blindly and venturing wherever your little heart desires. I love how as you progress through the story, the island theme changes with it. It gives you a sense of progress and keeps the exploration engaging in a sense. I appreciate finally having a Sonic game that has both atmospheric music that's part of the actual gameplay while still having your typical Sonic jams in the cyberspace levels. Stillness and Motion is the perfect way to summarize the feeling this game gives, coming from the title of the ost, having both high octane fighting and speeding through levels while also having a lot of downtime to just soak in the surroundings.
The bosses, good LORD. Easily the best super Sonic fights we've had in years, this is peak power. I love seeing other people's reactions to the music because it goes HARD. Metal music in a Sonic game, we love to see it. There were moments in these fights that legit gave me chills with how cinematic they are. Incredible.
Lowest point is easily the cyberspace levels. I found myself putting them off until I had to do them, they just stopped interesting me after awhile. I would much rather explore the islands than do these really short and easy levels. They just felt kinda tacked on last minute. You would think that the levels being short would be a good thing since I don't feel like playing them much but it just further makes it feel like there wasn't much time and thought put into them. Could just be me being spoiled on having played Sonic Unleashed recently but who knows.
Finally, the story. The story is great! I was excited to hear from the start that comic writer Ian Flynn was on board and I got exactly what I wanted. Uncovering the mystery of the Starfall Islands and seeing how it all connects to previous mainline Sonic games and seeing the characters written in a way that makes them feel real and fit the overall tone. Character depth that had been missing from the cast for so long. The way Sonic interacts with his friends here felt so genuine, both with it's light-hearted segments and it's more serious ones. Sonic not only helped his friends by freeing them but also helped them discover something more about themselves along the journey. In the game where we play off of Sonic being stripped of any sort of community in a foreign place, he in turn helps them realize what journey of self discovery they want to pursue and Sonic supports their decision to go their separate ways. At least for a little while. There's something so beautiful and bittersweet about that. The story arc with Tails is the best example of this, how Sonic didn't anticipate for his lil bro to grow up so quickly and is a little hesitant on seeing Tails venture out to become his own hero, but Sonic fully supports him. It makes me so excited to see the future of this series and how we can see these bonds further develope.
Also THE MODEL EXPRESSIONS, HELLO??? THEY ANIMATED SONIC'S EARS!
To try to wrap this up, I overall thoroughly enjoyed Sonic Frontiers and recommend it to anyone looking for a more engaging story within the series. It's a fun, chill game with its intense and heartfelt moments when needed.

š - your favourite rare pair?
EggmanXMyPen
Because who else can I trust with him. :'<
āļø - a character you feel is overrated?
The usual faces:
The IDW cast, cause they get hyped up as the best characters of all time despite them being idiots, cunts, or idiot cunts. Some of them could have been promising had things turned out differently, but others were doomed to be shite from the start.
Scourge, cause he's the lamest take imaginable on an already boring premise. (What if Sonic... WaS eViL???)
Nine and Thorn, cause these two are held up as defining examples of Tails and Amy, which makes me a sad-but-not-surprised panda.
Mephiles, cause outside of Dan Green's voice, he's another poorly written villain of many who people treat as though he's somehow better than the rest when he's not.
The End, cause it's as nothing and artificially hyped as the rest of the plot it's part of.
The Freedom Fighters, cause folk believe so vehemently that they deserve special privileges, and are somehow more integral to Sonic than the actual game-born characters. They go on about their perceived legacy, when you could say the same thing about AoStH characters, Underground characters, etc, yet they never get this level of deification.
Silver, cause despite disapproving of his off portrayals in the comics, I've never cared for his in-character portrayal either. And his design still doesn't work in execution.
Sage, cause she's as compelling as watching grass grow, and bastardizes Eggman's character all the while. (I don't care what their intention was, they really should have predicted how the fandom would react to it, and they've continued pandering to the Eggdad crowd on occasion even after the fact. Until Eggdad gets more thoroughly debunked in-universe, a lot of the rationalizations surrounding it currently sound like copium to me... like a lot of handwaves for Sonic "Best Story Since Black Knight" Frontiers in general.)
More controversially, while I do respect Shadow, even if he's never been one of my top favourites, I kind of resent how the attention given to him always comes at other characters' expense. I also don't appreciate when, in the process of fans hyping up and down how deep/complex/etc he is, they usually dismiss Sonic, Eggman, and most of the others while doing so, because they're perceived to be simpler, ergo they consider them lesser. Being the Eggfan that I am, you can imagine why I'd take offense to this.
š - longest fandom you've been in?
I guess Crash and Spyro and Gex would qualify, since I grew up with a PS1. As Sonic-pilled as I would eventually become, my knowledge and firsthand experience with the latter was non-existent until 2003.

A Far Too Long Sonic Prime Post
Not my usual content I know but I thought it would be worth talking about.
I watched all of Sonic Prime season 1!
I didn't really enjoy it... I wanted to... So badly... but it was quite dull.
The new voice cast do a good job though not having Mike Pollock as Eggman just felt so wrong. The animation is nice and bouncy and lively for the most part, though it definitely has its ups and downs in terms of quality, some shots look quite bad and the reused animation is not subtle at all. They recap past episodes so frequently to pad out the runtime, it's terrible (I audibly groaned every time that palm tree flashback played, did they really think we wouldn't notice?).
I appreciate that it's a kids show, obviously, but I really can't tell who the target demographic is, the dialogue is too wordy and exposition-heavy for younger kids, and the story is way too simplistic and unsubtle for older kids. That's just how I feel at least.
The plot went absolutely nowhere. I hate this Netflix model of having a season solely exist to hype up the next one. Shadow did nothing in the plot at all and existed just to tease stuff at the end. The story was incredibly thin, repetitive and uninteresting. Sonic is constantly confused by the alternate universe versions of his friends not being exactly the same as his prime universe friends. It grates pretty hard.
Every time, he'll find one of his friends is acting out in an alternate universe and decide he has to change the way they're acting because it's not cool, (Tails in Literally 1984, Amy in the Jungle and Knuckles in the Pirates) and they'll do some fighting and arguing and he'll preach to them about being more cool and then things will resolve after some kerfuffle.
It sounds like a good formula on paper but barely anything is layered on top of that, it's just a little barebones and it stops it from being fun. I think part of that problem is the fact that it is episodic but the plotlines span 2-3 episodes each, which is way way longer than needed, especially with 23 minute episodes. I think if each plotline and location was condensed down into a single episode it'd be way more fun, fast-paced and fresh. When we spend 3 episodes in a jungle with a villain that basically only says "stop hurting the green" it gets tiresome, it didn't need to be a mini-arc it could have been a single epsiode. That's just my take anyway.
Many of the outfits are really overdesigned, especially Sonic's shoes they do not look good at all in my opinion. And what was the obsession with giving Tails robotic tails?? Even in the pirate universe?? For what reason? And why was Amy a villain in two out of three of the alternate universes, what did the writers have against her š.
Going into this show I expected it to be way more episodic, going to a new universe every episode or something, I didn't think the only universes would be the ones we saw in the marketing material, maybe that's just my expectations being out of wack but I was a little disappointed about that. Same with the Eggman variants, only the Literally 1984 universe had Eggmen? No pirate Eggman? That was a real shame (also they did say "literally" way too much, I don't know how the writers got away with that, same with the word "shard").
Ultimately the show just went nowhere. The pacing was not great and the overarching story just felt like it had no stakes. The "Prime" versions of every character were completely sidelined in favour of characters that shared their appearance and names but had none of their appeal. They honestly could be anyone and it wouldn't really make a difference other than stopping Sonic from preaching about the values of friendship to them in the false assumption that they already know each other.
I understand it's for kids and the messaging needs to be understandable, and I really appreciated the more environmental slant that's been missing from the series for a long time, but I think there is better ways to get your message across through more naturalistic dialogue. The IDW comics do it so so well.
That might be part of my problem, I find it hard not to compare it with the high standard of quality set by the IDW team's writing.
When the next season drops I really hope the pace can be tightened up and the dialogue can get a little better. I also hope that it doesn't have such a nothing ending, I want plotlines to have a proper structure and a satisfying payoff. Watching Sonic Prime felt like a bit of a waste of time, and I just find that a bit sad. Though it has prompted me to wonder how much Sonic X holds up under scrutiny so I may well rewatch that in the near future to see what I was watching as a kid.
If you want an arbitrary number score I'd probably give it like a 5/10, it's pure average. Ultimately inoffensive but has nothing to properly engage you. As a longtime Sonic fan I was hoping for better.
Anyway, read IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog.

SONIC PRIME SPOILERS FOR SEASON 1 (THIS IS LONG. THIS IS LITERALLY ALL MY INITIAL THOUGHTS.)
OKAY SO FIRST OFF. GOD. Everything with new yoke is so so good. By far out of the universes they made new yoke a very very engaging one-- all the characters feel complex and thoughtful and it's not just a one-off universe. You care about their plight and while circumstances have changed them as people, theyre all still believable and complex like you can see why they've become this way. They dont feel like theyre being forcibly FIT into their roles in new yoke if that makes sense.
On that note, god Nine is so good and CARRIES when he has the focus. He's such a good introspective on Tails, and his deeper feelings and who he is without sonic, who he would be if he had to make it on his own. They do a wonderful balance of showing he's been forced to "grow up" because of the eggman empire, while also showing that he's still just.... a really lonely 8 year old who thinks the world is against him. So when sonic shows up and reaches out to HIM, gives him the first good connection he's had... he clings to it and clings hard. But he's new to connections and friends and doesn't really understand yet how to work them I think. So when sonic doesnt make it to save him, when sonic can't stay in the grim because he has other friends to save, nine takes it personally. It's all just. so so well done and in my opinion, out of all of the introspections they try to do with sonic's friends-- the most faithful, heartfelt, and engaging one. Which, is somewhat a given since it seems like Nine is going to remain a major, overarching character, along with the rest of new yoke.
ANYWAYS. Nine and New Yoke aside, I think another thing sonic prime is doing well so far is building up stakes with its main plot. Its not throwing nonsensical plots twists at you, but just builds in this great steady way that you're putting the pieces together on the situation the same time the characters are, and realizing just how deeply things are getting fucked. It's been REALLY engaging on that front and I'm happy for it.
But uhm. On a different note, the universes outside new yoke were.... lackluster. Both try to delve into another one of sonic's friends, and their feelings and sonic's relationship with them, but I think like... In the writers' heads right now, new yoke is the "main" plot heavy universe, and the others are one-off side universes that exist only as stepping stones to forward it. And you can... tell. Neither of the other universes' storylines are as engaging, and none of the alternates of the characters have the thought and depth that the new yoke ones have. And I think it kind of hurts the storyline, cause, well. You can tell. They WANT to engage you emotionally with amy and knuckles' nuances but they just fall flat and lose that impact theyre going for.
And god dont get me started on thorn and the jungle universe. That was just the biggest waste of what. 2? 3 episodes? I ever watched. I could not fucking care about that plot at all.
Uhm what else.... Well I think shadow is done... alright. He's being helpful, or, well, an ally (kinda hard to be helpful when youre a Void Ghost allowed only like 2 minutes of screentime), rather than a pointless obstacle, and his anger at sonic has reasoning behind it. His voiceacting also isn't as terrible as I thought. It's still not Right but its not kirk thornton-- and doesnt have that overexaggerated roughness. He is still very obviously sonic primes hype man though. He's got something going on, and clearly they want to do some kind of plot with him, but over the course of the 8 episodes he gets a little... repetitive. He kinda just relays the same thing to sonic every time we see him. Like Okay Sonic Fucked Up is Shadow going to just keep telling sonic that or is he gonna like. help.
I guess we'll see. I gotta be honest until that ball gets rolling im more invested in Nine and whatever happened there with Rusty Rose seeing Black Rose. someone please help rusty
