But also, nothing stays the same and the world turns and change happens whether we like it or not, and there would be something really lovely (bittersweet for certain, but also lovely) about the notion that Owen and TK came to the 126 to save it, and then the 126 saved them. And saved them so thoroughly that they reach a point where they can leave it in Paul's capable hands and go off on new adventures knowing that their 126 family will always be there for them even if that takes a different shape than it has for the last 5 years.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it seems to me like Joss is very deep in the alt-right rabbit hole because he didn't just follow people that are somewhat more well-known around the world (like Trump, Tate and Rogan) but some extremely right-wing people that are virtually unknown outside America (and even in America some are pretty niche), like Pearl (JustPearlyThings), Candace Owens, etc. I only know of them because I'm very into the left-wing political content on Youtube and the people I follow talk about these right-wing extremists and criticise what they stand for. And what they stand for is pretty disgusting. They're spreading not just queerphobia, but also mysogyny, xenophobia, etc. You would have to be pretty deep into this stuff to know about these people, let alone follow them. And unfollowing them after people called Joss out on it doesn't mean anything, especially not that Joss has suddenly had a change of opinion. It just means he learned to keep that shit secret and not talk about it.

Acgas Christmas Special Thoughts:

I'm really late posting this bcs I had uni coursework over Christmas 🥲 I cried so much at the CS this year. The acting and writing was superb as usual, but especially for this chapter of Audrey's storyline:

. Anna Madeley needs an award for her performance. She was so engaging to watch and I was a wreck by the end of the episode.

. I'm glad we had some flashbacks from S03E05. Even though they were scenes that we've seen before, they were impactful in showing Audrey's inner turmoil.

. I liked all the parallels between the fox cub and Edward. I'm probably reading too much into it, but it's interesting how they cast a fox out of all animals. Foxes are associated with being elusive, which is how Edward used to be.

. Owen Phillips was brilliant as Christopher Taylor. I hope we'll see more of this young actor.

. I adore Audrey's dynamic with everyone at Skeldale. She's a soulmate for Siegfried, and a surrogate mother for Tristan, James, Helen and Carmody. They all love her so much.

. On Siegfried �� Audrey, I enjoyed their interactions in this episode. The scene in the stable was a nice callback to the scene between James and Helen in the S1 Christmas Special. There was no hug or even a handhold, but I don't think this mattered. Siegfried has always found it difficult to express his emotions (it took him three seasons to tell Tristan how much he loves him). On top of this, Audrey was in a fragile state and just needed people to be there for her. Siegfried expressing romantic feelings would have been inappropriate and a distraction from the plot. If anything, he cared for Audrey in ways that no one else could by sparing the fox cub, giving her quiet support and listening to her.

. Tristan continues to be blamed for everything. It was funny to see Enoch Sykes being proven wrong for his false accusations. On a similar topic, I don't think it was fair of Siegfried to criticise Tristan for giving Audrey hope. She needed someone to be optumistic, regardless of the outcome.

. Although Siegfried is still harsh on Tristan, it's nice to see them spending more time together (great continuity from ep. 6). I also like how Siegfried picked up on the fact that Tris was feeling sad on Christmas morning, due to his comrades leaving. They've been drip-feeding us hints about Tristan's mental health since his return, so I guess we'll have to wait until S6 to find out more.

. James and Richard Alderson arguing about Jimmy's future was amusing. I definitely preferred the look of the farm play set over the vet one.

. I missed Carmody... I hope he comes back for at least one episode next season.

. And Siegfried forgot about the goose 😆 they should have just eaten the pigeon /j

This episode is sooo good-my favorite disaster!

"Your lady's good!" "Why do you think I called her?" Grace 😭 is such a good dispatcher/ her and Judd are such a good team 😭! (damn, they're probably gonna have Wyatt do this w/the 126 & f up on one of the calls in the beginning)

"Marjan..she's my ride or die..." 🥲 the whole team ❤️ (this might be a reach, but was the song choice when Paul gets saved a subtle inclusion of Marjan & Grace (since she helped earlier in the ep) because of what's going on with them this ep to include their team despite their absence in that moment

Nancy literally thinking to call Carlos before they even knew how serious it was & Tommy coming out to say they should call his dad

3x03: Shock & Thaw

TK is so dumb (I love him) "I still am [your little boy]" he's just a baby

TK literally avoiding everything by living in his coma world with his mommy (it's his safe space in crisis)

Fight scenes are better & everything more dramatic in bad weather

3x04: Push

sry (no hate) I every time, I genuinely lol at Owen going to make things right with the universe so TK will know he has something to fight for ...SIR, now's not the time

..you know what it's very in character to walk away, avoid at all costs, and distract from his feelings...like father, like son (i'm not mad at it) also, i'm gonna correlate Owen's tendency to fix things himself with Carlos' likelihood to do so ahead of s5, because it's very in character for me to insert Carlos in situations he's not directly in

I do appreciate the very intentional hug between Carlos and Owen [him going back] 🙄 (after all that) but ❤️😭❤️

Carlos not telling his parents him & TK broke up, because he "didn't want to let them down"...BECAUSE it's the first time he's felt truly accepted in regards to his sexuality 😭😭😫

Detective Washington/Carlos' boss is lowkey pushing Carlos for better (she doesn't praise him for his neighbor cam footage at first & then he goes out of his way to search thru hrs of car plates when it isn't his case atm)

TK is such a heavy sleeper as Carlos is moving around a ton and writing lol; meanwhile Carlos wakes up at the lightest couple of shakes at the proposal in 3.18

oh she is teaching him! 😁 Detective Washington correcting Carlos on his idea on the male voice (thinking there's an accomplice) in the audio, but pointing out his blind spot of the evidence right in front of him

FR none of us can say Owen truly doesn't care. HE AVOIDS. (he leaves quickly because he loves Gwyn & it hurts; he leaves the hospital because he doesn't want to face the reality of his son's condition, and distracts himself in ways when Gwyn returns for a visit with the kid he wished was his baby [i like how we focus more on TK this episode & see Owen's struggle at a different time].

3x09: The Bird

I love Tommy checking up on TK! It's crazy to think there's a good chance we wouldn't get these kind of paramedic team scenes if Tommy didn't enter this season or TK didn't make the switch from firefighter.

The Rings of Power ask game link. More questions welcome/encouraged, I'm still hyperfixating hard and it's still one of my only sources of joy 🥲

1. How did you find out about Rings of Power? What was the one thing that drew you into the show?

I knew about it while season 1 was in pre-production. Like since it was announced, while streaming services were still fighting over it. Only reason I didn't watch it sooner was everyone floating around the internet talking about how it was going to be "like LotR meets Game of Thrones." I did enjoy Game of Thrones, but......no. They're two very different types of fantasy and I couldn't stomach that idea.

LotR is one of my comfort-fandoms. I go back to it whenever I'm having a hard time. After rewatching the films at no specific point in time in November of this year, I just finally bit the bullet and started Rings of Power. I was a bit iffy through the first episode, but the end when Unnamed Dude came crashing down from the sky in a fiery crater next to the Harfoot settlement pulled me in and made me keep going. I was convinced from that moment that he had to be Gandalf (it was technically his first ever fireworks display for the halflings 🥲) and I refused to give it up until I was at least sure of THAT. I may or may not have yelled at the screen in protest when the Magical Bitch Trio implied that he was Sauron.

And then I just got into the story.

2. Who is your favorite character and why?

All the characters are quite lovely, n-no one in particular, I—

Okay okay okay, just. Aragorn was one of my first ever fictional crushes and I may be reliving all of those feelings all over again. There's mentions throughout the books that Aragorn is similar to Elendil and Lloyd Owen has managed to completely nail it while still making the character his own, and I love him so much for it.

Baby Gandalf also holds a special place in my heart, though. He's so precious. I wanna pat him on the head and give him a cookie and reassure him that one day he'll be able to just pawn everything off on the hobbit of his choosing

And maybe also their "Monody" with Galadriel and memories of her brother and their peaceful days in Valinor before the war, the memories and the grief that she can't let go of (I still hear you in the breeze/See your shadow in the trees/Holding on, memories never change). Both RIELL and Laura Brehm (respective vocalists for each song) have such lovely, haunting voices.

Though I'll always associate "The Wizard" by Black Sabbath with Gandalf. Since it's literally about Gandalf.

This scene. The fucking symbolism is beautiful. The firebird is a reflection of all the people Jack has met, has loved and lost. They seemed so small and insignificant compared to the amount of time he'd lived, but they shined so bright and left the biggest impact on him. Tosh, Owen, Ianto, the list goes on.

The fact that out of all he's seen and done, that is the one thing he talks about in what he thought were the last moments of his life

I did move and it's been fantastic. I haven't done much decorating (because my savings were completely wiped out just buying the house 🥲), but it does feel so much more lived in now! And I feel soooo much healthier for having my own space 🥰 hopefully will be able to do a bit more decorating this summer.

Short answer I still don't know.

Long answer:

There were definitely bits that I loved! Like the addition of Ranger Campbell (and Carlos getting a work friend!!) was really fun. I loved that whole story and the resolution for Carlos. The time between Carlos finding out it was Campbell that killed his dad and the actual reveal was super exciting. I never doubted Campbell for one second, and I was surprised to see people getting caught up in that 'reveal' at the time, I thought it was not exactly obvious that he was being set up as a patsy, but it didn't come out of left field for me. I don't know why I remember thinking that. I do remember talking to my sister about Bridges being dismissive of Carlos at Gabriel's wake in s4 and that being shady. But I doubt they thought that far ahead at that point 🥲

I also really loved Paul becoming Lieutenant! It made so much sense for him and then playing About You by The 1975 (my favourite band) over that scene was a huge moment for me. Me and my sister got really excited about it. And watching him struggle with being in leadership and balancing that with trying to be friends. It's hard!! and Paul is SUCH a good friend. I really enjoyed it. My guy!!!

AND Paul with the non-binary kid whose name I forgot!!!! I so wanted more of it!!!!

I loved Wyatt! Thought I was gonna take some time to warm up to him but he endeared me to him very quickly. Loved his scenes with Carlos! Although, I did feel my eye twitch every time I saw his wheelchair didn't fit him right.

I enjoyed Marjan's episode and Nancy becoming temporary captain but I wished there was more time with both of those storylines. It felt unfair that Marjan's whole engagement and wedding was shoehorned into one episode when there were clearly feelings that should have been explored more and maybe would have been in a longer series. Same with Nancy filling in for Tommy. I know she had to have feelings about taking over for Tommy and I wanted her to get to have them!!

The stuff that I loved I loved and the stuff that I liked and wanted to love felt half finished.

Then onto the things I didn't care for so much... (under the cut because I don't wanna put wank directly in front of folks faces)

The explanation for Grace's absence felt so disingenuous to her character. I don't care what anyone says, she would not have left her baby.

And to be honest, fuck that whole team that was a part of Sierra feeling like she had to walk away. We just had a whole fucking strike about paying actors what they're worth. Grace is and was the heart of the show!!! Fuck you!!! The season felt off without her. The potential for her and Wyatt to work together will forever be the One That Got Away!

TK was very unsympathetic to me in the Jonah drama. Like I get exactly why he was the way that he was about Jonah, but I still couldn't get myself to root for him in any way. And I love conflict! 3x13 episode of all time! I love it when I when root for both of the characters. Maybe it was the way specifically that he was written in this conflict? Or because they had this whole thing about kids in season 4 and there was no real follow up on that? Maybe I just hate kids storylines? Idk but I hated it.

Now, I'm not one that gets on about Owen having more screen time/stories than everyone else because most of the time I think they're fun or interesting and i enjoy them. However, knowing this was the last season and they only had 12 episodes, I felt myself getting frustrated that we were with Owen again and again. I get why they had him with Judd, but I wished that had been TK to be there for him. It would have been such a beautiful full circle moment.

Mateo got a 10 minute arc in the last two episodes. I remember watching season 1 and being so excited about his storylines! he was born to do it sir!!! and a feel like he hasn't had anything that wasn't played for laughs since the Dust Cloud at the end of season 2???

I didn't like the Tommy getting cancer storyline. I understand why they did it. But I didn't like it. It took her away from the team and I think Tommy has had enough conflict without adding cancer to it.

I will say that I did cry a lot at her talking to Charles's ghost. If there's one thing Gina Torres can do, it's act her socks off.

Overall, the pacing felt really off sometimes. There were scenes between some characters where I was wondering if the actors suddenly hated each other because the Chemistry wasn't the same as previous seasons, but again might have been clunky writing.

And I don't want to place it all on the writers I know they had a very difficult job in getting an ending for everyone. And I know they have it in them to be good writers!! Lone Star writers were responsible for one of my favourite episodes on OG this season! Like!! I know they can be great!! Why is this what you're going with!!

I haven't rewatched it yet. I've been really busy lately and I want to at least start the rewatch when I have the time to really sit with it. So maybe i'll enjoy it more the second time around when I'm not watching it at 1 in the morning and when I know how everything shakes out.

Either way, I still love the characters and the show. And i'll still hope for the Rangers spin-off 🫶

ellie williams - slytherin

ellie is 100% a slytherin IMO and i’m tired of everyone saying she's a gryffindor. she’s incredibly ambitious, driven, cunning (uses her own intelligence and skills for personal gain, i.e. tracking abby and killing all her friends), ruthless (in the aforementioned killing), self-reliant (rejects help, oftentimes from joel, i.e. at the dance), and brash, all of which are big traits of slytherins. we see her cunning, ambition, and drive particularly in her drive to kill abby, and ellie's disregard for the people that get in her way (i.e. owen, mel, nora).

abby anderson - gryffindor

in my eyes, abby is definitely a gryffindor. she's brave, stubborn, can oftentimes be blunt, and is not one to back down. i know some people argue that she'd be a slytherin because they have an idea that abby = evil and evil = slytherin, but i disagree. abby has drive, but it isn't pushed to the extreme like we see with ellie. abby also has a pretty solid moral compass, with the exception of killing joel, but i would argue she was haunted by grief from her father's death. i think, in general, she understands what's right and just, and tends to act accordingly, rather than choose pretty self-centred actions like we see ellie do.

dina woodward - ravenclaw

i was tossing up between ravenclaw and hufflepuff for dina, but i settled with ravenclaw because i think it just makes more sense. dina is rational, logical, is an observer rather than someone who acts, and she doesn't jump into things on a whim - we see this when tommy visits ellie and dina at the farmhouse to try and get ellie back on abby's trail - dina is rational in understanding that continuing ellie's revenge quest will get them nowhere and leave them with more blood on their hands.

joel miller - gryffindor

joel was a really hard character for me to sort, because i think he has traits from both gryffindor and slytherin. ultimately, i ended up in gryffindor, because i think, especially in the first game, joel shows his bravery and stubbornness to leave ellie with the fireflies. while joel's killings might be more slytherin, as they are quite self-serving, they weren't intentionally so, unlike ellie's.

jesse - hufflepuff

jesse's a hufflepuff to me. he's hardworking, honest, compassionate, practical, and dependable. jesse is loyal, and determined to protect the greater good. i see this especially when he tries to get ellie to go with him when they suspect the sniper in seattle is tommy, and make sure he's safe (where ellie stays to track down owen and mel, jesse finds tommy).

tommy miller - gryffindor

i put tommy in gryffindor because not only is he loyal, especially to maria and joel, but he's also very brave and definitely stubborn. i do think he's a little brash, like ellie.

lev - hufflepuff

lev was definitely a bit harder, but i landed on hufflepuff because of his drive to do good. i can see this in him especially when he calls off abby from killing dina. he's loyal, especially to his mother (despite everything), yara, and also abby once he begins to trust her.

yara - ravenclaw

yara is very rational, analytical, and intelligent, hence sorting her into ravenclaw. she's also very emotionally intelligent, especially when it comes to lev, and i noticed this in how she talks to abby.

owen moore - hufflepuff

i put owen in hufflepuff because he's got a very strong moral compass, diffuses confrontation, is generally good-hearted, and very practical. he doesn't jump into things irrationally and is loyal to his close circle.

mel - slytherin

mel is realistic, determined, and quite assertive in what she wants, hence slytherin.

I agree with your theory if Ewan is a part of this adaptation then he wouldn't have read the book and most likely took Fennel's direction for the role. He also takes Ryan Condal's ideas seriously as well(Greek mythology so called fact about Cyclops trading his eye) which isn't even true. Also I think he might have taken this role as it's a famous director with a lot of hype and it will help his portfolio. In the interview with Emma he praised Margot Robbie's Luckychap production so maybe he was auditioning since then???

Anyways I feel like it's a race swap version of the book story and another fanfiction from directors at this point. I don't think actors take all this seriously I mean it's just work and pay for them. I will watch it for Ewan I guess🥲 but I really don't have any expectations from this. Thank you for reading 😊

honestly there are SO MANY fics i'm really, really proud of. slasher is definitely one of them. i was proud of myself for attempting something so ambitious as two different endings. also, writing dark fics is always a little bit more of a challenge for me.

i'm also really proud of my trucker king series (and my larger trucker universe) but i think i'll be more proud of it once i actually finally finally finally finish it 🥲

i'm really proud of my first omegaverse fic, the alpha next door, and the stuckyxreader fic room for one more and so so many others. but those are the ones i can think of right now!

in terms of something i want to write but haven't yet...do all my wips count? 😅 i have a bunch right now that have been neglected while i've been working on my sweethearts game fics. i have an alpha!ari fic that i really want to get back to, and a dad's friend!andy fic that i've been struggling with. plus updates for trucker king and my toxic bucky series.

if wips don't count, i've had an idea for a steve rogers practical magic-inspired fic where reader is a witch like the owens sisters—living in a house on a cliff by the sea, shunned by the town but always where the townsfolk turn when they need love spells or cures for heartbreak or help with hair loss etc—and steve comes to town to help care for his pregnant sister and he goes to reader for herbs.

he's instantly smitten but reader is wary because the women in her family are cursed and the men they love die young. she rebuffs steve, but when a woman in town comes to her asking for a love spell to make steve fall in love with her, reader refuses. the townsfolk throw tomatoes at her house and steve insists on cleaning it up. then he sees all the things around the house that need fixing/doing etc. he slowwwwly wins reader over.

i don't have any ideas for how the curse is broken, though, and i want it to be a slow burn, which just feels...daunting to write. so i've never started it! but maybe one day!
