ever since your breakup with isagi, he’s been so in his feelings.

the only reason you know this is because of the posts your friends have screenshotted from his profile of sad quotes with drake songs playing in the background. it’s honestly a little cringe. so, if you hadn’t felt so bad already you’d probably be crying with laughter. you’ve also noticed user6372928 in your story highlights a lot recently. wow, must be a real fan.

and isagi knows he’s only making this worse for himself, that he’ll never move on this way. but, he can’t help it, hes a certified lover boy!

meanwhile, you’re not really sure how to feel with all this. you know isagi’s been asking around about you, you know he’s stalking your socials constantly. he just won’t leave you alone. and i guess in some fucked up way it was reassuring, knowing how much isagi actually loved and needed you.

but you ended things because you wanted better for him. so, why was he still holding onto this for dear life? you were hoping he’d realise sooner or later, hoping maybe his friends would help him move on.

but really, all his friends hate this more than when he was actually with you. saying, “bro, please just move on from her. you should be glad anyway, wasn’t she like, mad controlling?”

he frowns, “no..? where did you get that idea?”

shrugging, they reply, “cause you never came to the frat parties anymore. plus, she was pretty nasty. always saying shit to you, i couldn’t deal with that.”

but even if you weren’t his girl anymore, isagi wasn’t about to let his friends talk shit about you.

“shut the fuck up, she wasn’t nasty. she was the best girlfriend i had. you think i’m this upset over a girl who treated me like shit?”

then there’s a pause of silence.

“damn alright. sorry, bro.”

he huffs before getting up from the couch he was just sat on, storming up to his room with a frown on his face and slamming the door shut. he’s definitely letting your break up get to him more than he should.

so, he decides to stalk your instagram again!

and the way his stomach dropped when he saw your instagram story; you at a frat party with your girls, looking like you’re having the best time of you life, the frat isagi and his boys hate. what makes it all worse is the fact you look like you’re actually fine without him, that this breakup has no affect on you. and sure, isagi knows you’re the one who broke up with him, but you weren’t even a little upset? a little bit hurt that your two year relationship was over?

the actual truth was that your friends had practically dragged you there, wanting- no, needing you to stop being so fucking miserable about your now ex boyfriend. yeah, yeah, you love him, but you’re really bringing the energy down here!

of course, isagi never had this though cross his mind and instead jumping to the worst case scenario. it’s like everything finally snapped. there’s no way isagi is gonna take this for a second longer. he can’t.

and that’s how he ended up in this situation, his hands shoved in his pockets whilst walking out of his frat like a man on a mission, ignoring his friends questions and calls.

he’s gonna get you back one way or another.

I need to go to bed, but initial thoughts:

I like Magia Record a lot more. I'm having fun but I admit that I feel a little disappointed. I'm going to stick with it but I don't think I'll need to worry about whaling too much on this game.

The combat is growing on me. I prefer Magia Record's combat but I can see how Magidora is going to have more intricate stuff going on that won't just devolve into magia spam/blast spam. Maybe. I dunno? But it's fun and that's good enough. I do like the speed element of it over random disc selection, I think.

I don't really like the 3d bits but I can live with it. Folks keep saying how good the graphics look and to me it looks kinda ugly, but no one ever said I have good taste.

I don't particularly like how exploring labyrinths work. You're not even really exploring, just moving in a straight line looking for the occasional shiny. The labyrinth parts feel like an awkward in-between the content that matters, aka story and combat. I think I'd rather move between menu screens.

Uhhhh story wise.... Hmm. I think one problem I have is that the main story is literally just pmmm but an inferior visual novel version. If I want to read the pmmm story then I can go watch the anime or the movies or even the horrible comics. This doesn't really do it for me.

I'm also a little worried about upcoming event stories for spinoff girls. I straight up hated the Tart events in MR because a lot of them were an extended boring rehash of the manga and if I want to experience the story, I'd rather read the fucking manga, you know? For all the upcoming spinoffs: are they going to do their own thing with new stories like magia record did? Or are they going to be another visual novel version of the comics? Because god I don't really want to go through that???

It was also kind of depressing to get old characters I love, excitedly go to their magical girl stories, and then realize they're probably going to be rehashing what we already know. I mean, they're not copies of the originals and I can see how they might provide new context that we didn't have before, but something about it just makes me really sad.

I also REALLY miss having a homescreen character. There is so much charm in having a character on the homescreen, selecting their outfit, getting excited over new poke quotes. And being able to change your homescreen in general. Getting a new character in magia record wasn't just exciting cause new character but also because you got to put them on the homescreen and see what they were about, you know? Like these are their poke quotes, here are their outfits, look at all their lil animations! I miss it so much. Getting a new character does not feel that exciting to me at all ;_;

Something I never thought about before, but I hate how dark all the menu screens are. MagiReco menus had a lot of color and variations and they weren't just the same dark gray background repeated over and over.

I think all of this kind of culminates in: it feels like some of my favorite aspects of magireco were taken away, mainly the character-focused nature of it. I'm not going to say Magireco was the pinnacle of writing but it was what drew me to the story in the first place and it's not here.

Last negative thought-- I have absolutely no idea how a person who doesn't know anything about Madoka Magica would feel about the game. The presentation feels kind of weird-- I feel like we're already meant to know who everyone is based on all the videos you see before loading in but then the story kind of treats us like we're brand new and that Mami is supposed to be some sort of surprise.

All of that said, it's early access and we're not even a whole day into it-- I'm not done with the main story so it's possible I'm missing stuff too. Maybe I'll be more into it once I start watching more Magical Girl Stories. The event story is kind of boring so far but it's also pmmm girlies and I love them but-- you know.

I think my greatest fear for the game is that it doesn't bring anything new and it just summarizes stories we already know. I know you have to strike a balance between presenting content that old fans and new fans alike are going to find interesting-- and new fans need to know what's the deal with characters they are unfamiliar with too. But I really hope it gives us new stories, new characters, new things in general.

There are elements I like, I swear that it's not just all negative. It looks like we'll spend a lot of time developing our characters and I like long projects which reward you for patient investment. Again, the combat is growing on me and I'm starting to enjoy it more.

Actually trying to write out the positives makes me think of more things i dislike aklfjsaklfasjfkkasfja

Which is weird, because I'm not not having fun. I am! I dunno.

I don't want to be a huge bummer so I won't put this in the tag. We'll see how I feel about the game in like a week.

At the very least this game looks like it'll be a fun way to waste some time and good god I've been needing something like that lately so if anything, thank the stars for that

open missions

Feel long and awkward with minimal dialogue, like a match in the dmz but more annoying especially if you’re trying to find all of the items. it gets quiet unless you’re in a fight.

not utilizing the dialogue system from alone and recon by fire. both missions were long but had the same sort of feeling, especially alone with the scanvenging. especially a big problem in highrise where price and gaz say NOTHING unless you go up or down a floor. it feels weird especially after recon by fire. should and could have been used for character building or smth fun.

too many of these in general. gora dam + precious cargo are REALLY good for open combat. highrise is fun and i love the level design, but gaz not having an ascender is WEIRD.

soap’s death

Feels off as a plot beat. I understand he died in the original mw3 but having him die in mwIII reads as just a shock effect of a game scripted too fast.

Price should have died instead, more below

the dialogue and reaction compared to the original mw3 and soap’s death is lackluster. minimal. it’s not emotional, it’s BORING. Price is screaming in mw3, where is that from him? where is that from ghost? where is that from gaz? Give me a cutscene after the bomb defusal of price scrambling up to soap with ghost sitting there looking away and gaz rushing the bomb in the background because look ok i have headcanons that would make this more understandable bear with me. give me them discussing where to send him. give me the ash scene where simon motherfucking riley can’t look at the ash because he got to know this bastard too well.

also talk about character assassination. the only reason ghost is loved and has character is because he played off of soap. now he’s gonna become that stony bastard in the background saying they should missile strike this and that. fuuuck.

Price and why he should die

survived original mw series as the only ’main’ person who didn’t die. less predictable.

has had a fakeout death in EVERY reboot game he has been in. his original introduction was a fakeout death (and recon by fire start is also one). him not waking up/realising it’s not a fakeout would have been a much more efficient and interesting plot point. Rule of three.

him dying is a chance to explore a lot more of Gaz as they’ve technically known the longest (by how much we’ve seen them together in games) + i want gaz to grieve and to be forced into a leader role because Ghost is too freaky to be captain and soap is too young while Gaz’s introduction was already showing him as a good (N)CO. Also like is this not a natural progression if he’s so calm/ idk how to put it? diplomatic? in mw3?? 

his whole ’cutting the head off a snake’ thing. he’s getting his head cut off. what with the whole royalty thing makarov talks about (french royalty and beheadings)

more frusturating in-universe. he’s dead and the team is FUCKED because they just lost their lead. and makarov isn’t behind bars. bigger blow, bigger panic -> wonderful set-up for the fourth game.

I want either Gaz or Soap killing shepherd. Ghost would be too stereotypical lmao. Specifically Soap would be neat- he’d spiral into revenge for sure and he’s already got good reason to hate shepherd for the whole mess in mw2 AND false intel for price AND he had the whole thing about shooting shepherd earlier. on the other hand, Gaz specifically bargained for shepherd and had remained the calm here, so i think it’d be cool to see him fuck around. if he must have his changes then god give me ”WE HAD ACTIONABLE INTEL ON THIS” gaz back. also like ’taking command’ is getting your hands dirty and i feel like killing shepherd would be a LOVELY start if you ignore the butcher scene in 2019.

Gaz 

i feel like his character changed. 

he curses when the dad dies in embassy, he’s shocked when price tosses the guy with the bomb off the balcony. HE STILL TRIES HELPING EVEN IF THERES NO TIME. He gives Farah coffee after embassy. He’s KIND. HE CARES. SO WHY IS HE SO DISTANTLY BALANCED? This guy has righteous fury, where the FUCK is it? 

he’s literally concerned about random people at a checkpoint (shock n awe cutscene! the cop car one!). he’s literally asking what if they don’t move- he doesn’t like the idea of hostages, he’s concerned where they stop. he’s concerned about innocents. it’s development that he’s willing to go further but why is he so ready to forgive and forget when he wasn’t before??

i feel like the fact he can refuse to help Price interrogate the informant on mission is important. Price gives him an out to stay clean. i do not remember which is canon. i just. like that he has the choice yk.

he’s level-headed, but his introduction shows him LITERALLY joking / being sarcastic with his commander. “can’t truly alarm the public”, “terrorists know that too sir?” He comments that someone’s an easy shot in old comrades. He’s prickly when Norris declares Farah’s army hostiles. He jokes when he’s angry and frustrated. He literally pushes back when that happens, why didn’t he push back with SHEPHERD? HE GETS PHYSICALLY AGGRESSIVE OVER JUST THE BUTCHER, WHERE DID THAT RAGE GO??

he’s BITTER. he starts bitter. He’s pissed at the piccadilly attack because there wasn’t proper support or authorisation. He’s PISSED. He curses when he talks to price. he wants to fight, he’s FRUSTRATED. Where did all of that go? Why is he so unnaturally level-headed, why isn’t he frustrated? Why isn’t he pissed at shepherd for the civilians in alone when he cared so much in piccadilly and the embassy? Is he just repressed or did they change him?

Why isn’t there more talk with him and price? he’s clearly the only one slated to be captain or a higher rank. let him and price exchange looks more. let them talk more. let price either talk to him like a friend or like a mentor. ?? link back to my highrise complaints ok i really like the way they play off eachother in 2019 and in 2022. wish they’d kept that up

I think Riven was poor in the show... I think Riven hated Sky for being a prince too. They're fighting was because of that too. Are you saying that Riven did not hate Sky because he is a prince? Riven said a lot that he did not like Sky because he is rich and rich people are unfair. Please share your thoughts for me.

Anyway, Riven coming from a poor or even "middle class" background isn't canon, it's just a really good headcanon. I say it's a headcanon because when it comes up, it's always a vague implication that could also be about something else. Like his mother abandoning him could definitely have led to him growing up poor, but it's also not an exact confirmation. His mother leaving for money could mean they were poor, but it could also mean she just wanted More Money. Darcy saying he has "a darkness inside him" is likely about mental illness and trauma rather than him being poor and taking it out on the others (also anyone who uses this as an example just know i am beam blasting your house so hard). Riven calling out nepotism and classism could definitely be more personal but it could also be an example of his very high morality and moral judgment. (like riven is extremely intelligent and stands up for people in less fortunate situations a lot.)

Like,,, it's never directly stated that he's poor and the implications that people usually see could very easily be about something else. Kind of like the headcanon that Helia grew up at RF or comes from a military family; lots of good implications, but not canon. Or s1 implying that Flora could be a lesbian or wlw; lots of implications, but not canon. On the flip side, there are tons of things about Riven that are directly stated or directly implied (like his trust issues, issues with administration, his mental health issues, and even his mother leaving him). But Riven coming from a specifically poor background is something that's more often than not just an implication that could be implying something else. I'm not saying that implication isn't there at all, but it can definitely be read in other ways (for example, I've seen people headcanon that Riven comes from a noble family and hates classism because he's seen it up close). But regardless, Riven being poor is just an implication because it's not stated or shown in canon.

Also, I should note that my post wasn't about shitting on this headcanon. I like the idea that Riven comes from a poor background. It makes sense within canon, I do think it's implied (even some of the weaker implications are still fun to me), and I often use it in other headcanons and aus. But again, it's not Canon and his rivalry with Sky and the other specialists had a lot of components that aren't related to classism. My post was specifically about how the Sky vs Riven rivalry wasn't just about classism. Riven absolutely does not like royalty or the idea of different classes in general. However, his rivalry with Sky was never just about Sky being a prince.

Riven calls Sky out for having advantages over them, yes. Riven calls out the other characters for not knowing something, for being privileged, for nepotism, etc, yes. But his dislike of Sky specifically didn't stem from classism. Like I said in that post, classism was absolutely a factor but it wasn't the Biggest Factor.

Riven had a lot of internal issues in s1 and all of them played a factor in his rivalry with Sky. Sky being a prince was the icing on top. It really cemented everything that Riven thought of Sky before, but it was never the First Reason, the Big Reason, or the Only Reason. Riven didn't like the specialists because they were constantly undermining him, constantly insulting him (sometimes in a direct insulting way and sometimes in a "playful/joking" way), always assuming the worst of him, and never taking his side in literally anything. He also has extreme trust issues, felt like he would be better off alone, and used everything they said and did as a confirmation of why. Like s1 Riven had a really bad case of confirmation bias and was constantly looking for reasons to hate them (Sky being a prince was One of those reasons).

Like I said in that post, the Riven vs Sky rivalry had a lot of depth and both parties played into it. In canon, it was never just Poor Boy Hate Rich Boy. Sky being a prince and therefore having a lot of privilege was absolutely a factor in Riven's dislike of him, but it was never the only thing or the biggest reason. If Sky hadn't been the prince, Riven still would've hated him. Like,, that's important! Riven didn't hate Sky Just because he's a prince. He didn't trust Sky, hated that Sky looked down on him (regardless of their class standing), and hated that Sky "saw better in him". He hated that they were both extremely stubborn, irrational pricks who took it out on each other. He hated that Sky clearly didn't like, trust, or respect him.

And again, I really do think his relationships with the other royal and/or rich characters back this up. If Riven hated Sky simply for being a prince, that energy would've been directed toward Brandon first and it would also be directed toward Bloom, Stella, and Aisha. But it isn't. In fact, Riven often shows that he respects and likes Aisha! Even when he does call the other royal/rich characters out, it's never with animosity. It's usually in this, "yeah you're rich and dumb and privileged here I'll show you how it's done 🙄" kind of way. With Sky, it's more "i hate you i hate you i hate you i hate myself fuck off i hate you AND you're a prince god could you get any worse???". Yknow?

Well, that’s just horrifying. I know we’ve been aware of Paul McKenna for years. It was his house Louis “rented” in Los Angeles during his stint with Danielle. But I don’t remember ever seeing anything about him treating Harry, Zayn, or Louis. And the connection to Weinstein? So fucking disturbing.

So, not only do these contestants not have proper emotional/psychological counseling during XFactor, they have some slimy guy putting them under hypnosis.
