Gotta love how Nick's been around Arryn so long that he's just immune to Her Bullshit™️
----------
Arryn: *tinkering with her bombs in an enclosed space*
Everyone Else: Oh shit, she's gonna fuck up and kill us all! Better leave the area before we die!
Nick: Could you at least try not to get your explosive chemicals all over my paperwork?
----------
Arryn: *says she's fine, she doesn't need to eat/sleep/etc.*
Everyone Else: She might shoot me if I argue, so I'll just let this slide/not say anything and watch the trainwreck.
Nick: Wrong, you're going to eat this bowl of noodles I got you and I will literally hold you down until you go to bed, you need sleep.
----------
Arryn: *is refusing to let anyone treat her injuries*
Everyone Else: She'll probably give me an injury if I don't leave her alone, so I guess that's what I'll do.
Nick: You don't get a choice, I'm sewing up that wound, so we can do this the easy way or the hard way.
----------
Arryn: I can handle this alone.
Everyone Else: Ok.
Nick: And theoretically I could detach my arm and beat people with it, that doesn't mean it's a good idea. I'm coming with you.
-----------
Arryn: *openly voices her self-hatred and insecurities*
Everyone Else: ...
Nick: Don't make me tap the sign

Feel free to ignore this bc i know the topic is annoying but i was wondering about hbomberguy’s video criticizing rwby… did he admit that he made shit up for that or just flat out didn’t even watch rwby? I feel like I’ve seen that said before but never knew if it was true or if maybe I’m misremembering
Honestly i feel hypocritical for never having watched that video myself but also i try not to engage with shit i know will piss me off. The same can’t be said for 99% of the people who won’t shut up about how much they think rwby sucks 🙄
i don't think he's ever admitted to anything - the level of ego it takes to prostrate yourself as a media critic when all he does is make character attacks against the creators that he knows he can get away with (the weird parasocial dogging on Miles and Kerry, implicating them as paedophiles at one point if i recall correctly. an early version of the video having him shitting on Barbara for a tweet she made telling people not to watch the show if they don't like it that was only removed when viewers pointed out that she'd tweeted that in a specific context - that she and Arryn had been tagged in a fucked up edit of their characters stabbing each other by an asshat in the hatedom - which showcases either his poor research abilities that he didn't look further into that or that he knew and didn't care as it was an opportunity to attack someone else until he found out that the context was known and he couldn't get away with it) doesn't leave much room for self-reflection
i'm in the same boat - i don't watch shit that pisses me off because outrage bait rots your brain and i have better things to do with my life than watch that pretentious turnip lie about shit he doesn't like
from what i do know he misrepresents certain aspects of the show (calls Sun white at one point), makes clear he doesn't pay attention in other parts (claims the 'dust robbery plotline' was dropped and left unresolved when it wasn't). oh and he lies. a lot.
about Monty specifically - because he presents himself as having been a fan of Monty, disappointed that the show was dragged down by Miles and Kerry specifically (and makes it clear he thinks everyone else who works on the show is too talented to be wasting their time on it). and dedicated the video in Monty's memory
except he fucking hated Monty when he was alive, and we know this because of posts he'd made on the somethingawful forums about six months before Monty's death where he shits on Monty, shows blatant contempt for everything Monty had ever done, seems to just not respect anyone who engages in fandom (weird distaste for people who write fanfic, make fanart, cosplay) and throwing everything he says in that video into doubt because he's blatantly lying about having been a fan of the man
and you know why? it's the same reason his Sherlock video primarily focuses on shitting on Moffat and doesn't call much attention to Mark Gatiss's contributions. because it's bad for Hbomb's image to attack a dead man or a gay man - regardless of why he's criticising them

Something I find very interesting how the people who understand f&b is painting several female characters in a bad light because they didn't conform to societal expectations for women in Westeros or simply wanted power and then in the same breath talk about how Maegor is a blood magic baby and Visenya was a evil sorceress. Let's use our brains now.
I do like Visenya and Maegor’s Morgause and Mordred slay but agree that things are probably not as simplistic as they seem. I’m always caught on the tension between
Even those who loved her best found Visenya stern, serious, unforgiving;
and
When the regent of the Vale rushed out to confront her, with a dozen guards at her back, she found Visenya with Ronnel Arryn seated on her knee, staring at the dragon, wonder-struck. ‘Mother, can I go flying with the lady?’ the boy king asked. No threats were spoken, no angry words exchanged. The two queens smiled at one another and exchanged courtesies instead.
You could easily interpret the latter as a veiled threat and/or good politicking, but it’s interesting that “stern, serious” Visenya was able and willing to smile and at least convincingly pretend to be personable—can you imagine Stannis doing that? Perhaps the difference is a gendered one, but Visenya did have more leeway than the average Westerosi noblewoman given that she rode a dragon, was able to train with a sword alongside her brother, and later sat the Iron Throne during his absences from King’s Landing:
Save perhaps for Good Queen Alysanne, the wife of King Jaehaerys I, no other queen in the history of the Seven Kingdoms ever exercised as much influence over policy as the Dragon’s sisters. It was the king’s custom to bring one of his queens with him wherever he traveled, whilst the other remained at Dragonstone or King’s Landing, oft as not seated on the Iron Throne, ruling on whatever matters came before her.
As with several other historical characters who have strong parallels to ones in the present, I find it interesting to see what light the latter might potentially shed on the former. Rhaegar obviously expected his third child to be a Visenya figure, and despite one key difference Jon does fulfill the role really well. I think his personality helps to explain some of the contradictions present in the descriptions of Visenya’s in that he’s somewhat chameleonic and reveals a lot of kindness and levity in his interactions with characters like Arya but appears completely different to those whom he doesn’t like and/or don’t know him well, see Theon and young Alys Karstark:
The bastard was a sullen boy, quick to sense a slight, jealous of Theon’s high birth and Robb’s regard for him.
Tumblr media
Additionally, the batch of descriptions GRRM gave to an artist in the early 2000s which includes the one of Rhaenyra people use to “prove” she’s not feminine enough in the show also includes this:
Rhaenys is the flirt, Visenya the seductress. Although they share their brother Aegon between them, they compete for him too, each in her own way....
While neither description has made it into any published books, I bet the same people who use the Rhaenyra one to complain about HOTD will claim the show about the Conquest is OOC if it includes any hint of rivalry between the two women. Not that I necessarily want the show to do this as it could easily skew kind of cliché, but regardless this rivalry between siblings does evoke Robb and Jon, particularly in that Aegon is not just a love interest for the sisters but a proxy to power.
Anyway, on Maegor’s conception—it’s true that accusations of evil sorcery can be misogynistic calumnies, see Rohanne Webber, but magic is real and it was probably much more powerful in Visenya’s time when the dragons were alive than it was during the Dunk & Egg era when Bloodraven likely managed to convincingly glamor himself as a hedge knight, and certain biographical details of Maegor’s do seem a bit suspect so I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if those who “said that [Visenya] played with poisons and dabbled in dark sorceries” are at least somewhat correct and Visenya did…blood magic IVF or something, and/or she and Tyanna raised Maegor from the dead after his fight with the Faith Militant. I really do wonder how the former is supposed to have worked, though—is the consensus that Visenya sacrificed someone in order to conceive a son à la “only death can pay for life” or is there an ethical way to do magic IVF? Lmao

Nettles, Rhaenyra, Laena, Mysaria, and the Prize that is DAEMON TARGARYEN
Tumblr media
Now, I'm not going to sit here and police shipping. I'm also not going to act as though better writers and thinkers long before me haven't talked about the same phenomenon of centring men in women's narratives as a way to value the women. However, as a person in this fandom, I do want to apply this thought to the shipping discourse of Daemon Targaryen because it has become exhausted.
We treat this man as though he's the prize to gain when these women are in relationships with him. In the sense that when Daemon picks these women to have a relationship with they gain a value and devalue the women he leaves behind. We see this with him going:
from Rhea and Mysaria to Laena.
He finally has a Valyrian bride who matches his spirit and can give him Valyrian children. They get along and are of equal standing.
From Laena to Rhaenyra.
He moves on, finds real happiness, finds his true family, becomes the Targaryen he was destined to be with his Targaryen bride at his side, and their Targaryen children with his real family
From Rhaenyra to Mysaria .
Rhaenyra became mournful and wasn't as she once was. Him and Mysaria just have this connection, and Rhaenyra approves.
From Rhaenyra and Mysaria to Nettles.
Daemon finally found someone he could look past himself for. The singers say they end up together. He does all of this and leaves the Rhaenyra to her death because Nettles left. He's finally ready to settle down and grow old. She saved him.
All of this is an overgeneralised hyperbole of conversations I've seen, but they always centre Daemon choosing these women to be in a relationship with as their biggest accomplishment in the narrative. Him at their side is the biggest deal, and when he leaves them, they are discarded and replaced by his new love interest.
The issue with this
Prioritising a man, this man, as the main factor in these relationships, discredit the women who exist outside of him and make it seem as though he's the only thing that adds value to them. The language being used, in short, dismisses their personhood and equates them to something he can own, discard and replace at whim, and he alone adds value to them. It's icky language especially with his game card.
Lady Rhea: wasn't even her choice. She hated him and refused to give him an heir to inherit Runestone. In the show, she makes sure he returns and kills her by insulting his sexual prowess.
Mysaria: is complicit and involved in his worst action but always ensures she pulls herself up with it. Being his courtesan made her wealthy, almost made her his wife. Then she's complicit in blood and cheese and gets herself promoted to the Lady of Whispers to the Queen, eventually putting an end to him.
Laena: CLAIMED THE LARGEST DRAGON IN THE WORLD AS A TEEN. Is quite literally the mother of the girls that survived the Dance. Her blood inherits her house's seat.
Rhaenyra: Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Had men avenge her death, and her son sat on the iron throne after her.
Nettles: created the religion that forged the most dangerous tribe in the Vale of Arryn. Claimed a wild dragon and committed alleged treason and escaped.
I'm not saying Daemon isn't important. I'm not saying he doesn't play a part. I'm saying that when we have these conversations about him and these women and the progression of his relationships with them, I hope we can reach a place where the idea that he leaves them isn't a jab or joke against one woman for the sake of the one he chooses. It's getting strange.
Women don't lose value because of a man. Ever.
This also applies to Baela and her adaptation in the show. She isn't uninteresting because she isn't a tomboy or like Daemon. They make her a political girl in the show and like Laena. That's not a loss. She's modelled after Rhaenys as well. She's just reflective of the women in her life. I'm sure she'll have a relationship to Daemon as well, but she's the Ward of Driftmark. That's quite interesting. We also have tomboys like Alysanne and Sabitha, so we aren't in a deficit by any means.

I hated how they did littlefinger in the show. what do you expect from him in the books?
Honestly, I think his ending will be somewhat similar as in the show... well, in the bare bones of it--Sansa will bring about his downfall. Potentially she may have help from her siblings, but I do not see her essentially being given a secret insight into Littlefinger's soul from Bran to push her to make the choice she needs to make. Rather, I think she'll figure him out on her own.
Littlefinger is kind of "dark" Sansa's shadow--she is learning to be a better player of political games, which will serve her well in the future. However, Littlefinger's also clearly grooming Sansa to machinate for his own uses--but here is where Littlefinger eres, same as Varys eres with Aegon and Doran with Arianne and Aegon with Daenerys and so on and so forth.
Sansa is her own person. She's not her mother. She's not a doll to be sculpted. She's not what Littlefinger wants her to be, and I see her ultimately overcoming Littlefinger as an antagonist in her arc not because of a magical memo from little bro, but because she has a kind, honorable side from both Ned and Catelyn in her that she will choose in the end. She is their daughter, and Littlefinger underestimates Sansa Stark as a person.
Littlefinger is clearly using Sansa to poison Sweetrobin with sweetsleep, and Sansa appears unaware of how dangerous it is. Naturally, if Robert should die while she's engaged to or married to Harry the Heir, then she takes over the Vale and potentially Winterfell. And if she realizes her role in killing little Robert Arryn, Littlefinger is probably counting on her internal guilt and naivete to keep her quiet.
I don't think she'll keep quiet. Or, if she does, she'll find a way to bring about justice and take Littlefinger down. Because Sansa still prizes honor and kindness, the things that make a true knight and loyal lady, and those will be her salvation.

First I like the theory of jaqen=aegon even many people won´t believe it . second I have couples of questions for you :
.How can we believe that jaqen face is true (the one arya saw half white half red) because many people assuming that is not true .?
.why jaqen is working alone to get his dragon , without the help of varys or anyone , he doesn´t have fellowship like danny ?
and last, I think danny and brienne have seen a similar vision about a man and a girl stand alone in a fallen city does this indicates something ? and i´m so sorry about my questions hhhh.
thank you
Thank you :) I just wanted to say again that I wasn't the person who guessed that Jaqen was Aegon. Many people before me realized that. You can find some old discussions on westeros.org and other message boards. I don't want to take all the credit for it. However, everything I write here about Jaqen's journey is my explanation. People have all sorts of ideas of what happened. I often disagree with them so what you see here is mine.
But to the point.
You probably noticed that A Song of Ice and Fire is written a bit like a crime story. The series begins with a mysterious death of Jon Arryn and then Ned Stark starts his investigation. Then, the "detective" himself is murdered and the chain of deaths continues. Ned's death was the result of the unfair trial but following victims died under even stranger circumstances. You remember Joffrey and Tywin, to name but a few. We also get the prophecy of the Valonqar who is supposed to ruin Cersei's life. Some people accuse Tyrion but then we get Mercy chapter where the true killer is revealed: he is hiding in Tyrion's shade and his name is the Stranger. Interestingly enough, we have already met the Stranger who first introduced himself as Jaqen H'ghar, who is a professional killer and a very important person in Arya's life. So this is a crime story where the characters and the readers are supposed to find the real killer. In crime stories, authors always introduce the killer very early but they usually present him as a person not involved in the main plot so out of suspicion. And so it happens that GRRM also introduced Jaqen and his work quite early. And we tend to believe that he is a random criminal locked in the black cells. We see his true face like in the classic detective book and then GRRM starts messing with us and gives Jaqen a new face and then another. So this is the first reason why this face is real: it's how things work in crime stories.
Another factor is GRRM's description of Targaryens on his Not a Blog. Back in the days when the comments were still allowed, GRRM used to respond to his readers. He talked about the Targaryens's fine chiseled aristocratic features and then he described Jaqen in almost the same words in the books "slender, fine-featured...the handsome one". In addition to his beautiful face, Jaqen has white Valyrian hair. GRRM makes him tall and slender too. Jaqen is supposed to be a criminal and yet he has the manners of the aristocrat. He is clever and educated, he speaks High Valyrian. If he is a Targaryen, he doesn't need another face - he already looks like a Targ.
Then we see the resemblance to the weirwood tree. Arya observes that Jaqen seems like a tree where he is standing next to the weirwood. His hair is the color of weirwood: Valyrian white and blood red like the song of ice and fire. And like you mentioned, the image of the weirwood that looks like a young man with a girl by his side appears later in the books, in Brienne POV. There is too much of importance to this face to dismiss it as fake.
There is also a notable reference to Jaqen and Bloodraven in the prologue to A Clash of Kings when the maesters at Dragonstone receive the raven. The raven that arrives is white as snow and larger than any hawk, with the bright black eyes that meant it was no mere albino, but a truebred white raven of the Citadel. The "mere albino" is Bloodraven. Jaqen also has white hair but is a true born Targaryen and the rightful king and more powerful than Brynden. Perhaps Jaqen has black eyes like Elia. Jaqen is also a student at the Citadel later in the books so he is "the reaven of the Citadel". When the raven starts to talk he is very polite, he bows his head and calls Shireen "Lady" which mirrors Jaqen's courtesy towards Arya in Harrenhal where he calls her "My Lady of Stark". It is so symbolic that GRRM is using a raven to make a reference to Jaqen because of what we later learn about Bloodraven and the magic of weirwoods. And here in the prologue we learn that he is more powerful than Brynden, the last greenseer.
A reader needs to work a little to understand Jaqen's role in the books but this is GRRM's intention. It's supposed to be a big mystery. Like he has always been saying, he laid out breadcrumbs for us to pick up and get the true meaning behind the story.
Next part of your question: the fellowship of Jaqen or the lack of it. When we talk about Varys I think that he might be helping Jaqen. We should remember that it is Illyrio who has the gold to buy the army and it was Illyrio who took Jaqen in after Rhaegar had lost the war. I think that Illyrio decided to get rid of J/Aegon after Serra gave birth to a boy who looked like a Targaryen prince. Illyrio in the books is a carbon copy of Aegon IV so he must be one of the King's successors. He is not a legitimate Targaryen and so he can't push his claim but he got his hands on Rhaegar's son and then he got a boy who looked a lot like Aegon. So, he swapped the boys and decided to raise Young Griff like Rhaegar wished his son to be raised and make him the king. I think that he told Varys to get rid of Aegon, to kill him or sell into slavery but Varys took the boy to Braavos and left him with the Faceless Men. Please, remember that Illyrio stole all the things that used to belong to Aegon. He has the boxes filled with the boy's clothing, the silver, the armor of his guardians, the court clothes. He might have had Aegon's dragons's eggs too but he gave them to Daenerys. So now Aegon has to earn his dragon himself. He was robbed and abandoned, that's why he is alone. I still think that Varys is secretly rooting for him and might turn sides when Young Griff dies. You may be interested in re-reading the prologue to A Feast for Crows for the reference to Aegon the Conqueror and Jaqen. There is a mention of Aegon's single-dragoned conquest of Westeros. Now, Jaqen comes to Oldtown to learn how to hatch his dragon's egg and he is surely dreaming of conquering Westeros with his dragon like Aegon I did it.
The last part of your question, the symbolism of weirwoods. Yes, yes and yes: the weirwood that Brienne sees symbolizes J/Aegon and Arya. It means that they are connected to the powerful weirwood magic. They will join the old gods someday. Their souls are immortal and they will live together in weirwoods for eternity.
I'm sorry but I can't remember which Daenerys's vision you have in mind. It would be great if you could find the quote from the books, thank you in advance!
I apologize for the long answer. There is just so much book material to explain.
Thank you for another interesting question :)

Petyr Baelish had offered to wed the girl himself, she recalled, but of course that was impossible; he was much too lowborn. -ADWD, Cersei II "Cersei, for one. She thinks herself sly, but in truth she is utterly predictable. Her strength rests on her beauty, birth, and riches. Only the first of those is truly her own, and it will soon desert her. I pity her then. She wants power, but has no notion what to do with it when she gets it. -ASOS, Sansa VI
For all Littlefinger's sneer at Cersei, he is more like her than even he cares to admit just as she would him as she looks down on him for being lowborn. He knows he is a lowborn nobleman from a newer house in a classist environment dominated by the Great Houses and older, more established houses just as much Cersei knows she is a woman in a patriarchal society dominated by men. They were also victimized by their betters in these systems with Petyr being sexually assaulted by Lysa Tully as Cersei was by her royal husband Robert. They even end up killing their abusers, and are intent to kill their abusers' children with Cersei ordering the death of all Robert's bastards and Petyr seeking to kill Robert Arryn.
They both respond the same way in that instead of trying to protect other people from being abused by these oppressive systems like they were, they want to reverse the roles and be the victimizers. Petyr preys on Sansa while Cersei preys on Lancel and even SAs Taena even using the same words as Robert, and excusing it on the wine. They are both narcissists with a sense of entitlement and inflated egos overcompensating for their insecurities.
Petyr's childhood crush on Catelyn was actually something more toxic and possessive as he was willing to duel her betrothed for her hand without asking her who she wanted to marry. Cersei made Jaime join the Kingsguard so he would never be married or able to be in a relationship with someone else. Of course, both are at the end, miserable people who end up not getting the things they want. They will never get the respect and recognition they think they deserve in no small part because of the harm caused by their actions.
Cersei never gets to marry Rhaegar, and Jaime effectively breaks up with Cersei at the end of AFFC while Petyr never married Catelyn and Sansa does not want him. I think both of them may meet their ends at the hands of their respective interests mentioned in prophecy with Sansa "slaying a savage giant in a castle built of snow" and Jaime as the "valonqar shall wrap his hands" on the Hand's chain around her throat and end her.
They forgot that in wanting to be the victimizers, victims may inevitably fight back just as they did.

what do you think could have been some ripple effects if the dance was somehow delayed by 7 years? what do you think the ripple effects could have been in favour of/against the greens as well as the blacks?
I admit to jumping the queue in my ask box for this question because it's really interesting!
The first thing that comes to mind is that Lord Corlys would almost certainly be dead. This, I think, is the biggest factor. He dies in canon only 3 years after Viserys and he's 79 at that point, so I'm going to assume he would have died around that age regardless. So if Corlys dies, there might legitimately be a Driftmark succession crisis before there's one for the Iron Throne. Now Lucerys presumably has the support of his family and can probably win any conflict, but at what cost? It's also true that this could give the realm a preview of what might happen were Jace to attempt to succeed Rhaenyra to the Iron Throne. And that's if Luke remains the undisputed heir after taking the Driftwood Throne, which I don't necessarily think is a given. Luke is inexperienced and the men of the fleet are going to resent him. At the end of the Dance the other side of the Velaryon family tried to overthrow Alyn, but he and Baela managed to reconcile with them, but with Luke? I think there's a chance that most of Corlys' fleet defects to the greens the moment Viserys dies.
Over on the green side, Aegon's kids are older and that's two more potential dragonriders in Jaehaera and Jaehaerys. Both Sunfyre and Tessarion would be larger too. Daeron and Aemond have almost certainly made marriages of their own, or at least betrothals, with brides to be married as soon as Viserys died.
There are also a lot of wild cards, like Daemon. In 7 years his sons are in their late teens and it might be harder to watch Jace inherit over them when they're promising young men than when they're little kids. How likely is he to get bored and shit stir? How likely is it that things have soured between him and Rhaenyra? Does Jeyne Arryn still die in 134? If so, the Vale is facing it's own succession crisis at that point. Does the Winter Fever still hit at the same time? The demographic that seems most affected by that seems to be people in their 30s-50s, so do Daemon, Rhaenyra, Alicent, Otto, all survive it?
I think that overall things do not look as good seven years down the line for the black faction. There are a lot of problems festering with their allies that have simply not come to a head yet when the Dance breaks out in canon. On the other hand, the greens have 7 more years to shore up alliances, for their baby dragons to grow, and for Aegon, Aemond, and Daeron to mature. The wild card factors mostly don't bode well for Rhaenyra's cause either.

i have a feeling you want to tell us about your ocs, i for one i’m curious
OKAY YAY I WILL TALK AHOUT THEM funnily enough though i get asked to post about ocs more than i post about them like i should be posting more but i forget... this post will be about KINGS OF OMAEGORVERSE TIMELINE
important concepts:
visenya & tyanna used valyrian blood magic on prince viserys the son of aenys (canonically squired for maegor and killed by him in retribution for percieved murder of visenya by alyssa). he's not an omega thats just a joke i dont have concrete thoughts on the biology of it all. i think it would be fun if he had tyanna or visenya's womb... oo or alys harroway's
maegor introduced the concept of a "wife in the blood" and a "wife in the faith" so he could have his cake and eat it too in regards to betrothing his kid to both aerea targaryen and a hightower oc
this is my sick and twisted psychopath joker au oc timeline. prepare yourself ^_^
MAEGOR I
rules until 66ac when his nephewwife viserys and daughter daenys kill him
consort(s): ceryse hightower who retires to the hightower after the viserys thing cos she's like "yeah this is the line in the sand for me" and grooms her niece to marry maegor's heir, tyanna and alys like in canon and then prince viserys random son of aenys no one remembers except me
child(ren): jaehaerys, viserra and daenys
JAEHAERYS I
ruled 66-92 AC
named after canon jaehaerys who gets killed by maegor in this. viserys wanted to name him that and maegor though it was funny.
physically and emotionally abused by maegor cos he wasn't masculine enough in childhood. bad bad childhood. got the stoicism beat into him. has an oedipus complex towards viserys
consort(s): princess aerea targaryen (betrothed from birth, she dies the same way she does in canon but its during her bachelorette party), lady maris hightower (ceryse's niece, my fave)
child(ren): aegon, aerion, helaena, daenerys, viserys, maegelle
AEGON II
ruled 92-99 AC
his life and rule was marked by his rivalry towards his twin brother aerion and their shared obsession with their sister helaena. was his mummy's favourite and the rejection by his father def made him who he is. however after his brother aerion killed the high septon and got exiled, the roles switched and he became daddy's favourite and abandoned by mummy
consort(s): queen jocasta lannister (daughter of viserra, bit crazy, mad that she's the wife-in-the-faith when she's more closely related to aegon than daenaera is) queen daenaera velaryon (half baratheon half velaryon, more normal but gets depression later) both his wives hate each other and despise jaehaerys a bit for obviously being in love with his sister (weirdo..)
child(ren): by daenaera- monterys, lucerys, jacaerys by jocasta: rhaena laena jaehaerys helaena aegor by helaena: rhaegar (bastard)
VISERYS I
ruled 99-120 AC elected king by a great council since aegon's kids were too young. daenaera also absconded to dragonstone and locked her kids in with her + no one trusted jocasta and her kids
jaehaerys is super weird about viserys cos kid viserys looks like a clone of mummy viserys. tries to beat masculinity into viserys like maegor did to jaehaerys. viserys is a bit whimpering and limp wristed likes playing with his sisters and a bit scared of his older brothers. shoving the kid into the training yard and to the kingsguard to toughen him up did NOT help. he just got a bunch of dogs basically
consort(s): alyssa arryn (alyssa was affianced to aerion targaryen, but aerion killed the high septon and got exiled which was a bit of a downer one could say so she was then married to his younger brother viserys. alyssa is undiagnosed paranoid schizophrenic and becomes enamoured with a red priestess >:))
child(ren): visenya/aegon/rhaenys (failed blood magic babies) maegor/daenys/alysanne (successful blood magic babies)
PRINCESS DAENERYS (QUEEN REGENT)
not technically a queen, but ruled 120-128 AC
viserys dies but his heir daeron (jacaerys' son by aerion and helaena's bastard son daemon, dont worry about it) is still 6 years old so daenerys swoops in and takes the role of daeron's regent.
consort(s): corlys velaryon (oc but like barely its jsut corlys from canon)
child(ren): valaena velaryon, laenor velaryon (he's straight here), naerys velaryon
DAERON I
ruled 128-136 AC
son of prince jacaerys (the child of king aegon i and queen daenaera) and daemon of qohor the bastard son of helaena and aerion. dont worry about the genders its a whole thing
obsessed with joining dorne to westeros. thought dorne was soooo cool. nymeria kin. though KL politics were a distraction and loved glory etc. pov youre told youre a god king from birth etc. hes gay but normal about it
consort(s): princess maryam martell to peacefully join dorne to the seven kingdoms but they never married. their wedding ended up being a slaughter committed ostensibly by dornish rebels who didnt wanna be westerosi but actually by his uncle jaehaerys (son of aegon and jocasta)
JAEHAERYS II
ruled 136-144 AC
son of aegon ii and jocasta lannister. huge inferioty complex and soooo mad that he's not the heir. orchestrates the death of his nephew daeron. he's very affable and personable and counters daeron's "lets go to war and get glory" with "that costs money asshole". he's at court while daeron is playing with dorne and makes friends there.
consort(s): princess aerea (bastard daughter of helaena and aerion, she dies before he becomes king. his great love that he never really understood and basically killed) queen alysanne tully 'red alys' (his wife-in-the-faith who double married him with aerea) queen alysanne targaryen 'blue alys' (replacement wife when aerea died, daughter of viserys i and his wife alyssa arryn. she's a blood magic baby) queen alysanne hawthorne 'aly hawberry' (originally a mistress, married her in 144AC right before he died)
child(ren): FUCK okay by aerea- elaena by red alys- maegor, jaehaera, aegon, viserra, aemond, aerys by blue alys- viserys daenerys naerys vaella rhaelle by aly hawberry- aelinor aemma aethan waters
AEGON III
ruled 144-147 AC
his elder brothers maegor and viserys were killed in a jfk style assassination by their sister elaena and he became king immediately after they and their father all died so its bad for him. went crazy trying to solve their deaths. killed by the most devout (faith of the seven) to put his brother aerys on the throne
consort(s): queen lianna redwyne (she was swapping with her twin sister larissa though. aegon was being gaslit by literally everyone in his life lmfao)
child(ren): helaena, baela, saera (saera was larissa's, though aegon and everyone thought she was lianna's)
AERYS I
ruled 147-184 AC
radicalised/groomed by the faith as a child. obsessed with his sister rhaelle. obsessed with religion and finding meaning in life but also in using the faith to not have to feel guilty for being a huge POS
his reign was hijacked by his nephew hugor stone who became the youngest high septon and who led a sect who became the "faith protectorate".
consort(s): lady agnes blackwood (never consummated cos he was obsessed with his sister, she ran off to the iron islands) queen rhaelle, queen helaena hightower
child(ren): by rhaelle- aemond aegon daeron helaena by helaena hightower- alysanne maegelle
DAERON II
ruled 184-204 AC
raised in the religious hell that was aerys' reign. when his sister helaena was confined to the maidenvault (yeah i kept that, aerys makes it) he tried to break her out with aemond and got sent to a septry as punishment. rhaelle switched him with a cousin and sent him to dorne instead where he was raised by daeron i's sister daena who had wed the prince of dorne. married her granddaughter. eventually besieged king's landing and took the throne for himself. forced his father to abdicate and kept him locked up.
after he became king, he tried to keep things cordial with the faith protectorate without just wiping them out. well they staged a coup and killed his wife and nearly killed him but it failed he just got major brain damage and his wife died :( his son baelor ends up mercy killing him
consort(s): tyshara dayne 'the evening star'
child(ren): baelor, rhae, daenys. his sister helaena later has some bastard kids with a knight of the kingsguard and he pretends they're his bastards by a random maid
BAELOR I
ruled 204-?
im up to about here on my family tree. not 100% on where everything will go from here on out
he's called the bloody for having killed his grandfather aerys and for killing some faith millitants during that coup when he was 9
consort(s): princess rohanne martell 'the rosy dawn' (she's half-martell :)) also has some dalliances with a baelon plumm and a barbrey bolton
child(ren): aerea, aegon, aemon, aenar
AEGON IV
married his sister aerea, remarried to a teora hightower after she died
AERYS II
born princess naerys targaryen. MEGA crazy. omegafies the guy her dad arranged for her to marry. rules as king aerys >:)
thats my current list ^_^ it gets hazy after aerys im still building my masterpiece. this has been in the works since omg april last year (though i restarted in september last year) so the concept is now a year old, happy borthdayyy

I would LOVE to hear about your lil guys
Thank you for taking interest in something that I have cared for and put so much thought into for almost a good year.
Right now I have one (1) guy I am beyond obsessed with. I honestly could write/talk about everything about my HotD OMC. At the same time I really don’t know how to. Bc ever since I created my first OCs (like age 12) I’ve kept them to myself. So knowing that other ppl want to hear about them is foreign to me. But at the same time so validating and nice. It’s just scary to put oneself out there with someone/thing they cherish. Especially my guy bc…one of his relationships is one I honestly have not seen yet. And I can only put forth Targaryen incest and it’s fiction as a reason to a point. But I love it so and I love writing them.
His story came to me as all good stories do: lying in bed with no access to a computer. The phrase “He has a rage in his heart.” Came to my mind and here I am about 10 1/2 months later.
So, under the cut I will finally feel brave enough to talk a little about him.
The story takes place between 115 AC up to my character’s death. I’ve changed some birth dates, Viserys stays healthy longer, there is no Dance of Dragons. Most of my writing has been centered around 131 AC-146ish AC. That’s where the juiciest parts happen.
Daemon had a brief marriage between Rhea Royce and Laena Velaryon (less than a year). My OMC came from that short time.
Anyway…
My HotD OMC’s name is:
Rhagerys {Rage-air-es} ‘Rhage’ Targaryen. (His mother thought she was naming him the way of the Targaryen family does. Daemon wanted/was going to change it but tragedy happened and Daemon kept the name to honor Rhagerys’s mother).
Looks:
His left eye is green. His right eye is brown. Platinum white-blond hair. From age 15 on he always has a braid or braids in his hair in some way.
(The two ages listed are what I think the most when I picture him)
Age 15-16: He has just below shoulder length hair. He stands 6’4”. Delicate features.
Age 18 (and onward): His hair is just above hip length. He stands at 6’6” (but he definitely doesn’t act it. Especially around his father). His features are a bit sharper but softer than his father’s.
Personality (a small taste):
His personality is a mess. He can be calm one moment, full of rage the next. He's snide, sarcastic, and spiteful to a lot of people (he gets his sharp tongue from his father). But gentle and patient with children and some women. He has taught himself to act as if nothing bothers him. To look stoic in front of others.
It stems from his father, Daemon.
Daemon was able to get his heir and he was going to make sure his son was everything he wanted him to be. Everything he made him to be. But Rhagerys does have a fun, kind, protective side. Just only for people he has deemed ‘worthy’ of that side.
I don’t have a true pinpoint of Rhagerys’s sexuality. I feel it’s something in that time where it wouldn’t be thought on much. If asked Rhagerys would just shrug his shoulders and walk away or ignore the person.
His mother/her House:
I chose to have his mother, Igreyn Belmore (I created), be from/heir to House Belmore of the Vale. Not too much is known about that House so I ran with it. The only thing I that I made up about them was that their men are never shorter than 6’2” and their women are rarely shorter than 5’8”.
Rhagerys is also related to Rhaenyra through his maternal side. Rhagerys’s great grandsire was the third son (I created) of Rodrik Arryn. So the third Arryn boy was Aemma’s older half brother. Making Rhagerys and Rhaenyra double cousins.
Dragon:
He has a female dragon that is black/blue/purple named Starsong. She hatched the same day he was born. (There’s some sort of blood magic surrounding her. She grows quicker than a normal dragon [I needed her to for my story])
Plot Snippets (The bare bones):
Rhagerys had a normal/average childhood. He was very chivalrous and kind. Then his little family (Daemon, Rhaena, and himself [Baela is at Driftmark]) moved to Dragonstone when Daemon married Rhaenyra. Rhagerys was 12 (I bumped up/moved ages of the younger generation around).
From ages 13-15 Rhagerys was sent on progress to certain places in Westeros, see the realm that his ancestors conquered (He was sent away at the suggestion of Rhaenyra. They have a strained but amicable relationship).
He came back at age 15 changed, physically (he was around 5’0” at age 12 and when he returned to Dragonstone he was 6’4”) and mentally.
Daemon found out something about his son he did not care for (Rhagerys’s slight aversion/indifference to sex) and took matters into his own hands. Because Daemon was not going to let his heir, heir to Strongsong of House Belmore in the Vale, reject sex.
(If I was to describe Rhagerys’s view of sex it would be along the lines of: I don’t care. I just want the other person to be happy.)
~This is where it turns dark (Daemon is very manipulative and wicked at times in my story)~
Daemon teaches Rhagerys about sex. Hands on (won’t go fully into it). So, from ages 15-(I won’t give it away), father and son have a very secret/hidden sexual relationship. Rhagerys doesn’t hate it (most of the time), welcomes it at times. He sees it as a way to keep his father’s love and attention for him. If he pushes back, he gets set ‘right’ real quick. During those years Daemon manipulates and emotionally/mentally/physically beats Rhagerys down until he is what Daemon wants him to be. His. Daemon’s creation of the perfect Targaryen.
Then in the late spring of 134 AC the family from Dragonstone goes to King’s Landing (to put a stop Vaemond’s claim). Celebrate the defeat of the Triarchy in the Stepstones. Stay for three months.
There Rhagerys meets Aemond after 6 years. Both most definitely changed from when they were 12. A lot happens. Rhagerys finds a new purpose in life. Aemond. Doing anything and everything for Aemond.
The two of them become unhealthily committed to each other. Rhagerys will burn the world to the ground if Aemond deemed it so. While Aemond tries to cultivate, project himself upon how he sees/thinks Rhagerys is. How Rhagerys would want him (Rhagerys does the same).
At the same time Rhagerys has to balance his relationship with Daemon.
And that’s where I’ll stop with the plot points. I have more but I don’t want to give too much away or lay it all bare. I’ve written/created so much more. So much more happens before/in between/after. But I’m still trying to fully write those points. I have entire timelines for each decade/family trees/future generation planned/created and ready to go.
Right now I write mostly about Rhagerys between the ages 15-20. That time period has captured my attention for a while now.
So, that’s the basics of my HotD OMC. I will at some point around the new year (fingers crossed) have a pinned post about him. A little layout of who he is. With links to Pinterest/music list of my story.
I'll be real, idk if I’ll ever put the story on the internet, in any form, but to be able to talk about him, put him out into the world. By making tags, Pinterest boards, and writing for myself has really brought me such joy.
I apologize if this was too long. But it’s been marinating in my mind for a long time. Thank you, again, for asking me a question I thought I’d never be asked. 🌈 @emilykaldwen you are too kind to ask. I do hope it wasn't too long winded or too much.

Robert and Lyanna au
Contrary to the fandom's opinion, I believe Robert and Lyanna could've worked out. Robert was well, a hedonistic slut and Lyanna feared he would be unfaithful and unhappy with him. But I think with proper communication and learning to understand one another. I think Robert and Lyanna could've worked and been happy together.
Note. If you don't like the pairing, you literally don't have to read. Just ignore. Good god.
So imagine if after actually listening to Lyanna's worries and fears about her relationship with Robert and taking it to heart. Ned, Brandon and Benjen got together and knocked some sense into the oaf and basically told him "treat our sister with the respect and grace she deserves or we make it look like an accident :)"
Robert takes their advice and threats to heart and decides to change for Lyanna.
At first Robert seeks Lyanna out and tells her what Ned told her and begs her a chance to prove his love for her is real and to truly know the iron underneath her beauty. Lyanna is taken a back and touched by Robert's gesture and accepts Robert's proposal.
Robert would be shown Lyanna’s fighting spirit, her love for riding horses and love for her family. This would make Robert love her more and he’d love the she-wolf and the iron underneath.
Lyanna would be touched to know that Robert wants to know her as a person before they are married and to know that her fears are proven wrong.
Robert and Lyanna spend a lot of time together. Whether he courts her to Storm's End her meets her at Winterfell. Over the course of months, Lyanna begins to like Robert as a person, a friend and her future lord husband.
One day they ride horses together, but one day Lyanna reveals that she always wanted to fight but father would never let her hold a sword. This all changes when Robert offers to teach her to fight like the She-Wolf she was always destined to be.
One day they fight one on one. At first Robert is afraid he will hurt her and then Lyanna knocks him off his ass. Robert laughs his ass off and loves her even more. "Seven hells we could conquer the Others together"
Robert has a sword, armor and shield specially made for Lyanna and calls it the She-Wolf, an armor made in style of Stark & Baratheon and a shield of the wolf and stag and also gifts her a crown of winter roses and as Lord of Storm's End, in private he Knights Lyanna. And Lyanna is finally in love with Robert.
The Tourney at Harrenhal happens. Lyanna becomes the Knight Of The Laughing Tree, to fight for Howland. But something else. Lets say Robert becoming a better men caused insults from Aerys and this angers Lyanna to the point where she decides to win the whole thing.
It ends with Lyanna knocking Rhaegar off his ass and that alone causes Robert to laugh his ass off.
Lyanna would win the tourney, reveal herself and crown Robert as the king of love and beauty.
But I still think Rickard and Brandon would've died. Because of the Southron ambitions theory.
Aerys is still the mad king and via Varys he hears that Lord Rickard, Jon Arryn and Hosster Tully are marrying off their children to form alliances and sees their combined ambition as a threat to his rule, plus Aerys did not take kindly to being insulted at the tourney.
So, Aerys orders the arrest of Lord Rickard. Brandon like the emotional fool that he is demands the head of Aerys and Rhaegar. Brandon and Rickard die the same horrible fate.
Lyanna is enraged by this and calls the banners. Robert's Rebellion becomes Lyanna's Rebellion.
Imagine Robert and Lyanna as the ultimate battle couple. Kicking ass and taking names. Robert was feared in the Rebellion. But Lyanna? "The She-Wolf. The little Direwolf" "Lyanna Dragonbane"
Together Robert and Lyanna would kill Rhaegar.
Maybe with Rhaegar falling on the trident earlier, maybe Ned would’ve made it to King’s Landing before Tywin and the sack does not happen. With no brutal death for Elia and her children, I don’t think there would be resentment between Ned and Robert. Yes the death of Elia and her children was not Robert’s fault, but he did not condemn Tywin and just wanted the rest of the Targaryens to die.
With Elia and her children saved, Dorne backed Robert’s claim, both Princes Doran and Oberyn personally thanked Robert, Ned and Lyanna for saving Elia from being Aerys’ prisoner. Lyanna and Elia would start a friendship. With no battle of the tower of joy. Arthur Dayne would live and I think Arthur would be allowed to leave his post and marry Elia and raise Rhaegar’s children together.
If they reached King’s Landing sooner, let’s say they all reached the Red Keep before Jaime kills Aerys. Ned asks that he not stain your honor and to allow Ned to do the deed. Ned kills the Mad King, which prompts Jaime to tell Ned of Aerys plan to burn KL with Wildfire. Jaime would remain on the Kingsguard with no ill will between Ned or Jaime. And both Ned and Jaime are seen as heroes for failing Aerys’ plans to burn the city.
With the Keep being captured sooner, I feel like Stannis would’ve captured Rhaella, Viserys and the soon to be born Daenerys. Rhaella would survive childbirth, Rhaella and Viserys would be sent to live with Stannis. Viserys would grow disillusioned with Aerys under being raised by Stannis and he would’ve had a close relationship to Shireen. Dany & Rhaella would be sent to live with the Tyrells. Now I know what you’re thinking. The Tyrells are Targaryen loyalists. The Tyrells are smart and went to heel when Robert is crowned. And Dany just wanted a home and to be safe. Dany would have a close relationship with Margaery, Willas, Garlan and Loras. Dany and Viserys would have the occasional visits but now that they are both in a better place, they’re relationships would be closer.
Varys was put to death. With Robert in a better sense, he would know the man to be too dangerous to be left alive, as well as Grand Maester Pyecelle. Ned would kill Littlefinger for one day remarking that Cat gave him a child. A lie of course, but I hate him so Littlefinger dies in my scenario.
Robert and Lyanna would be king and queen. Robert was drinking and eating himself into an early grave because Lyanna was gone. But I think together they could’ve been a great king and queen. They would have three children. Jon Baratheon, Gendry Baratheon, Mya Baratheon, Lyonel Baratheon and Edric Baratheon.
The Greyjoy Rebellion still happens because Balon is an idiot. It happens as in canon. But I think both Theon and Asha would’ve been taken as wards. Theon with Ned and Asha with Lyanna.
There would be another incident after The Greyjoy Rebellion. The Boltons reputation for torture and rape would be too wide to ignore. So the Starks finally put their former bannermen down.
The Freys were gone too. Though that was Stannis and Lyanna’s doing. Neither trusted a man so cowardly and his late arrival to the Trident did not help his case. The Freys would finally be put down after so many years of cowardliness and deceit.
The way I see Robert’s small council the same but Lyanna would take apart of it as Robert valued her council in the war and obviously remove Varys and Littlefinger. Perhaps Doran would be invited as Master of Whispers but sends Elia in his place, and Tywin would be master of coin. Tywin would have to buy his way back into the good graces of the crown. If he could not be hand of the king, he would be master of coin. Still holding power over the crown with his wealth. While he could not have Jaime be Lord of Casterly Rock, he relented and made Cersei the heir of Casterly Rock.
so in total
Hand of the King:Jon Arryn
Master of Whispers:Elia Martell
Grand Maester:Cressen
Lord Commander of the Kingsguard:Barristan Selmy
Master Of Coin:Tywin Lannister
Master of Laws:Renly Baratheon
Master of ships:Stannis Baratheon
Jon would be betrothed to Margaery Tyrell, Robb to Rhaenys Targaryen, Viserys to Arianne Martell, Daenerys to Theon, Asha to Lyonel, Aegon to Arya, and Sansa to Willas Tyrell. That’s what I can see for betrothals so far.
The wolf and stag are together. Robert and Lyanna are happy and in love. Lyanna loves her children. Their children and Ned’s children gets along. Jon loves his aunt Cat and Cat loves Jon. The Lannisters never take power. Littlefinger never obtains power and plunges the realm into war. There is peace in the realm under the rule of Robert Baratheon and Lyanna Stark.

Alicent saved Dyana from torture.
In House Of the Dragon, Alicent Hightower finds out that her son aegon had raped a handmaiden named Dyana. Dyana helps with the kids for Helaena, so she was a good help for them. Alicent embraces Dyana, which only does with Helaena. Alicent helps Dyana but also in a way threatens her into silence and has her drink moon tea to prevent a pregnancy.
Many fans see this as Alicent trying to protect Aegon and his reputation so he can still have support to claim the iron throne. I can see that because she is protecting Aegon's reputation by belittling Rhaenyra's but only because this is a political move so that Viserys may change his mind about his succession.
So, in a way, she protects her son, who could damage his reputation, but when you look into context and how women are especially low-born like Dyana are being treated. Alicent saved her from being tortured. Women in westeroes are treated worse because the patriarchal system that with holds them.
Men can get away with a lot of things like adultery, fathering bastards and even rape. While women are punished for things. Women who have been raped are also punished and treated horrible, it's worse if you're a sex worker. Dyana spoke out about what Aegon did to her. She would be more punished than aegon would ever be.
You could say that if Viserys was alive as king, he would save her life from being tormented because Viserys has little to know about his kids with Alicent. However, we only see Viserys being angry at kids whenever it involves Rhaenyra, his favourite child. So, while he could spare Dyana's life, there's that question if he would.
Many fans claim that Alicent shows her hypocrisy for getting Dyana to drink the moontea when she resented Rhaenyra for doing the same years ago. I think people forget the reason why Alicent was mad at Rhaenyra and why she never trusts her again.
Alicent finds out by hearing that Rhaenyra was seen in a brothel with Daemon, Rhaenyra's uncle, and that she lost her virtue to him. Alicent and Rhaenyra were starting to repair their friendship that was strained, so hearing what Rhaenyra allegedly did. Alicent believes that Rhaenyra needs to honour her virtue and not be reckless. Alicent does want to Rhaenyra to rule.
Alicent confronts Rhaenyra and Rhaenyra tells half of the truth. She said that she was at brothel but that Daemon never slept with her nor touched her. Daemon never slept with her, but he did touch her. Rhaenyra lies to Alicent that she is still a virgin because Rhaenyra lost it to Criston Cole. Alicent believes her and tries to defend her against Otto.
It wasn't until Larys Strong who told her that he heard that a maester was seen heading over to Rhaenyra's chambers while holding a cup, which is most likely moontea. Alicent isn't mad at Rhaenyra for drinking moontea. She's mad that Rhaenyra lied to her. She feels so naive and betrayed by the one person that she thought she could trust.
Alicent does find out that it was Criston Cole who Rhaenyra lost her virginity. But instead of telling the king, she chose to keep it for herself. At that time, Alicent didn't know Criston that much, and she did need allies. Alicent kept this dark secret for years, which saved both Criston and Rhaenyra. Alicent could've said something, especially when Rhaenyra kept getting away with having illegitimate children, but she chose to stay silent.
Alicent gives Dyana moon tea to prevent a pregnancy. Alicent is seen as a horrible person for doing this because of her alleged hypocrisy, but I had already told you why. If Dyana has this child, it would be a lot harder. Alicent could've let Dyana stay in the redkeep, but people may start talking, and they already are.
I'm more concerned for Dyana's health because moontea is something that needs to be made very carefully. In the ASOIAF, it was revealed that Lysa Arryn, Catelyn's sister, drank moontea, ordered by her father because she technically raped Littlefinger. Lysa almost died from it, and it could only produce a sickly boy. So, it's good that maester orwyle knows how to make moontea carefully.
When Alicent hugs and comforts Dyana, you can see it as a manipulation tactic to silence Dyana from saying anything. But later on, Alicent hugs Helaena tightly because she is deeply saddened for Helaena and probably feels regret for setting up the marriage. Alicent isn't that affection towards her children besides Helaena. So, her hugging Dyana shows she does have sympathy for her.
When Alicent confronts Aegon, she slaps him and says that he is no son of hers. Alicent says that raping Dyana is a humiliation to his wife, Helaena, and technically, it does.
Dyana was probably the most helpful to Helaena with the kids, but because of Aegon's actions, Dyana left the red keep, and it's likely that Dyana was like a friend to Helaena. There's a scene where Helaena tells the newhandmaiden who looks uninterested about something interesting. It is possible that Dyana was the only one who may have understood Helaena or at least interested in what she had to say.
So, yes, Alicent does protect her son, but she also saves a girl from being tortured because the world in westeroes isn't kind to women like Dyana and especially women like Alicent.

No okay bc i was thinking about Rhea Royce and Daemon too, right, bc she’s an heiress so like-
I’ve mentioned this before but Lady Waynwood rules in her own right and all of her sons have her name. We know nothing about her husband, perhaps he was some wealthy Essosi noble and thus there was no family on the continent to be affronted at his children not having his name, maybe he was like second born and no one gave a shit, but regardless, she and Jacaerys (who was meant to take the name Targaryen once he was prince of dragonstone) are our only real examples here for ruling women who actually have children outside of dorne - because jeyne arryn never has children of her own so she never deals with the problem of “how do i navigate naming my kids as an heiress?”
DOES THIS MEAN DAEMON’S KIDS WOULDNT EVEN BE CALLED TARGARYENS❓
or does this mean Rhea is supposed to just be okay with the name Royce disappearing??? I do not fucking think so, so they’d likely do the split name thing like with Rhaenyra’s kids, although (and this is assuming Daemon manages to have even one let one two kids with her lmao) I do imagine Daemon having a single child out there that doesn’t have the name Targaryen really pisses him off.
The first names in this situation intrigue me. When Valyrians marry outside the family, their children tend to get at least some Valyrian names - Laena Penrose, Aemma Arryn, Viserys Plumm tho u could argue that was a purposeful insult too, Rhaego to some extent - and they usually marry back into the main branch - Jocelyn Baratheon, Laena & Laenor Velaryon, all the cousin swapping going on with Daeron’s grandkids, Elia Nymeros Martell (ish), potentially Aelinor Penrose as well - but at the same time, this house will descend from RHEA not Daemon, so the Valyrian name is likely to kinda die out after a generation or two for the main line, while the second born probably marries back into the main line. Like, the Penroses are named Phillip now, not Baelor or Laena, bc they don’t descend from Elaena on paper, they descend from her HUSBAND, from Ronnel. And while it’s likely Rhaenyra’s grandkids by Jacaerys would have Targaryen names, her grandkids by Lucerys would have Velaryon names, and crucially, all of Rhaenyra’s kids by Laenor have names Laenor picks because the husband picks. So Rhea’s son? gonna have a whack ass name like Baelon Royce. But Baelon Royce may want to pick a more Royce-ish name for his own heir, instead of a Targaryen one, and that’s gonna be. a conversation.
i think daemon is going to insist on his royce child marrying another valyrian and choosing another targaryen first name (even if they still keep the name royce). like, he is going to be the bitchiest sort of grandparent who just straight up won’t acknowledge the child’s real name if he doesn’t get his way here, at least while he’s alive.
IN THAT SAME VEIN, daemon is super valyria brained. if he has two girls or two boys with rhea it’s whatever but if he has a boy and a girl. i think this man is going to want his kids to marry. we are just going to have random royces fucking in the vale.
(i think he can be talked out of it easily enough if viserys just like, idk, promises the daughter to his eventual son or promises daemon’s son to rhaenyra AND LETS TALK ABOUT THAT SITUATION PLEASE).
and rhea in all this is like. fine you can name our kid baelon royce. fine our daughter can be named baela targaryen too. fine baelon can have personal arms that have a dragon on them. fine they can-no fuck you baelon and baela are not getting married i’m sending a raven to the king as we speak you fucking freak. what do you mean you’re sending rhaenyra to runestone viserys??
this woman’s life is a nightmare omg
but also THIS COULD HAVE HELPED SO MUCH AFTER SUMMERHALL. this is what these bitches get for incest marrying so much, no cousins to turn to when your main house dies. that’s called bad dynastic planning, read a history book daemon!!!!!

House of the Dragon Season 2, Episode 1 Thoughts
Just clarifying, these are my own thoughts, you don't like them, don't bother telling me so. Also, I'm not a book purist, I like adaptions taking putting their own spin on things - if it makes sense to do so. So, here were my thoughts. Obvs, this post is dark and full of spoilers.
I loved the opening, the whole callback to the White Walkers which cements the true arc of ASOIAF (and feels a fuck you to s8)
THEY CALLED VHAGAR THAT HOARY OLD BITCH, ONE OF MY FAVOURITE BOOK QUOTES
Rhaenys ate, she fucking ate, that's it girl you remind Daemon of your daughter and his place (you know that Daemon loved that shit)
And Daemon? The whole mother vs the Queen speech? What do you think YOUR mother would have done? Alyssa Targaryen would have done exactly the same if it were you torn apart and you goddamn know it.
Yes, Corlys mourning Luke. Everyone mourning Luke 😭😭😭
Alyn of Hull, slay.
Am I the only one who kinda thinks that the Hightower Sigil looks a little clip-arty? It's just not it 😬
I really wish they made the scorpions look better. I just always thought that the weapons would be more advanced because they actually know dragons.
Aegon and Helaena, you can sort of see that Aegon does care about her but he just doesn't know what to do with her.
Alicent ALICENT WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. GET THAT MAN AWAY FROM THERE
Also Criston? Giving head? Yeah, I'd think the sharks are real before I believed that.
Where was the build up to... That?
I actually fucking shuddered. SHUDDERED.
Tyland don't fucking annoy that little boy.
Terms? You killed her little boy and you sent terms?
Yes, Aegon you humiliate that Lannister bitch.
Why is Jaehaerys so sweet? 😭😭😭😭
Dalton Greyjoy mention!!
Mine are Bigger - Actual Aegon II energy
Why is Aemond sitting there like 🥺🥺🥺? You fucked up my guy.
Emma is heartbreaking.
Syrax never grew? Why she so tiny?
Arrax was so beautiful.
The actual stab of grief I got watching Rhaenyra on the beach. That was her baby. That was her little boy.
Aegon the Magnamious?
Aegon being nice on the throne? Being kind to the shepherd?
Your goats? No, sheep even better. 🙂 Aegon, I am meant to hate you.
Otto get fucked, Aegon was doing his best.
Hugh? Hugh Hammer? Girl, get the fuck out of here, asking for money and shit.
I can see a lot of ppl going to whine about them humanising Aegon but it's necessary? Complex characters and our relationships with them is GRRM's greatest skill.
Larys get away from that boy.
This is a green heavy episode. I know why but still, give us some Joffrey maybe? Some House Baratheon shitting themselves? The Great Houses getting the news and going oh fuck?
Daemon is lowkey right, Mysaria did help place Aegon on the throne but she is also right, he's only that angry with her because nobody else around.
Matt's acting is top tier because you can really see the grief, the anger and the insecurity when he's snarking.
Rhaenyra's return. Her silence, it's fucking gold.
Jace and Rhaenyra 😭😭😭😭 His lil voice. 😭😭😭
Where was Jeyne Arryn? Why no Jeyne??
The funeral 😭 lil Joffrey is too lil. Jace holding him *raptor screams*
Alicent, the fit ate but what good are prayers? Go smack that son of yours.
Somebody hug Rhaenyra. Right now. Rhaenys? Elinda? Baela? Rhaena? Hold that woman.
The CRIME HOODIE is back.
I still hate the gold cloaks' cloaks. They look like piss rags. Does nobody on the staff know what gold is? Look at Sunfyre.
The actual book quotes 🙂🙂🙂🙂
The War of Quills and Ravens, yes, yes
Aemond don't sit with Ser Incelot, he hast done thy mother
Y'know what, Aemond is a lil right, he's getting the blame for starting the war but Alicent and Otto literally laid the foundations?
Why is Criston standing for Otto? He's not a member of the royal family.
Aemond, sitting in that chair is very Daemon of you
Otto, showing off his slutty lil wrist, your pour yourself a lil drinky girl
Blood and Cheese have a lil dog with them. Please don't let anything happen to the dog.
There's something always so eerie about all those tunnels under the Red Keep. It absolutely terrifies me.
Aegon and his buddies sitting on the throne gives off fuck boi vibes and the Strong joke was actually pretty funny.
That Viserys statue is not it.
Why is Blood so fucking massive?
Cheese, did you just fucking kick that dog? I will kill what you love you absolutely bastard.
Oh, those locks. The world building, oh the worldBuilding
The atmosphere is very well captured. The music is on point.
I love the detailing of the interiors of the Red Keep, it's so much better than the OG series.
Oh Helaena.
Helaena, my love. Why Helaena, why her.
Why didn't they just check themselves?
How the fuck did the writers make Blood and Cheese that lack lustre? How the actual fuck do you fumble that?
Alicent, my fucking eyes, MY FUCKING EYES
I'm giving this a 7.5/10. Everyone else was great but HOW DO YOU FUCK UP BLOOD AND CHEESE? HOW? HOW? I DEMAND A TRIAL BY COMBAT
Also I must say, the Biblically accurate Hand of the King chain in the trailer is very good.

How is Corlys so dismissive of Joffrey and Rhaena!? 🥲 Theyre his grandkids too. Luke never knew a thing of sailing but Corlys was okay with him and he was same age as Joffrey too.
Sometimes, there is no making sense of bad writing, specifically where it concerns characters saying/doing something only because the plot demands it. In this case, Corlys is only saying what he does because the writers need him to push his bastard son as the new heir to Driftmark since that’s a plot point. However, the writers have clearly changed the whole context around it, so now Corlys’ actions will lack all logic.
When it comes to Rhaena, what Corlys says is very unnecessarily harsh. Her not having a dragon is hardly a big deal because Velaryons aren’t even a dragonrider family for the most part. Rhaena not having any knowledge of the sea isn’t a dealbreaker either because she can always learn. Luke was younger when Corlys was calling him heir and just like Rhaena, Luke also didn’t know anything about seafaring. I keep seeing fans say Corlys is being misogynistic towards Rhaena but he isn’t actually dismissing her on account of her gender. And the thing is Corlys IS a misogynist! So there was a reason right there for him to dismiss Rhaena (that even other lords of Westeros would readily accept). Instead his arguments are just random irrelevant details that don’t hold up to scrutiny.
With Joffrey, he is presently Corlys’ heir in the show. It does not matter that he is a boy of six because as long as he is acknowledged as Laenor’s legal son, he remains heir to Driftmark (six year old Rickon Stark is considered the legal heir to Winterfell by Northern lords so the young age is not a disqualifying factor and the potential rival Stark claimants are all siblings NOT uncles or aunts). Addam & Alyn are obviously going to be Corlys’ sons in the show (therefore, Joffrey’s uncles). Again, the age factor does not matter here because under the laws of male primogeniture that Westerosi lords adhere to, sons come before brothers. Laenor was Corlys’ eldest son and his original heir. After Laenor, it is his sons (who are still alive and legally considered Velaryons). After them, it would be Laenor’s brothers. Corlys cannot just pick a heir (in the book he even explicitly tells Rhaenyra that these traditions have to be followed and that she is merely an exception because of her father, the King). If it was simply a matter of picking and choosing your own heir, then Randyll Tarly would not have to go to the effort of forcing Samwell Tarly to join the Night’s Watch; he could’ve just named the younger son as heir. Nor would Tywin Lannister be seething over having Tyrion Lannister as his legal heir. He could’ve easily dismissed Tyrion’s claim for another Lannister. Jeyne Arryn was able to name Joffrey Arryn as her heir because the previous treasonous actions of Arnold Arryn had left him locked up as a prisoner (and yet many Vale lords still viewed Arnold’s line as the rightful one because of the laws of inheritance).
In the upcoming episodes, it looks like Corlys is being set up to dismiss Joffrey as his heir to make his own bastard son the new heir instead. But in order to do that, Corlys has to first publicly denounce Joffrey as a bastard or some other excuse (an heir cannot be dismissed just because they lack competence in the family business or because they are young; if such was the case, the lords of Westeros would riot over the threat this ruling poses to their own young heirs). Even if Corlys does not publicly denounce Joffrey, just by dismissing Joffrey’s claim for his own sons (therefore throwing the line of succession into disarray), Corlys sends the message that Joffrey is a bastard who has no right to inheritance. By extension, his older brother must surely be a bastard as well therefore undermining Jace’s position as Prince of Dragonstone/Heir to the Iron Throne. With those two then being viewed as bastards publicly, it also announces to the lords of Westeros that Rhaenyra is guilty of high treason and as a result, has no claim to the Iron Throne. If that’s Corlys’ true intention, well, okay then! Otherwise, he’s just creating a whole new political conflict IN THE MIDDLE OF A SUCCESSION WAR.
As it is, with these writers’ track record, none of this will actually matter. Any potential problems will be hand waived away (just like how the Silent Five/Vaemond’s sons were erased). It’s obvious that HOTD doesn’t care to explore the legality behind the characters’ actions. Whatever excuse Corlys uses in the show, it will have no bearing on the worldbuilding (my guess is he’ll use the idea that Joffrey is too young). I’d love to be proven wrong but these writers haven’t shown anything meaningful in how the competing claims are handled (still can’t believe show!Alicent was motivated by a misunderstanding 😂😂).
I’m actually starting to understand now why show!Corlys is described as a politically incompetent person by the people working on HOTD. If this is the stunt he’s going to pull, it’s going to be the height of stupidity.
Of course, this wouldn’t even be a problem if the show just followed the book. In that, Corlys passes Addam off as his grandson and has him legitimized as a reward for claiming a dragon (dragonseeds were promised lands/lordship/etc) because that is the only legal way he could be Corlys’ heir without him publicly denouncing Joffrey. It’s actually a really clever loophole. Without it, the whole situation becomes a mess.

Ye Olde Magick AU Part II: More Houses
As always: thank @books-n-guns for the existence of this AU :D Basic lore (and the first bunch of houses): X Without further ado, have some more houses~!
The Arryns: Wings, wings, wings. They have the most beautiful feathered wings you'll ever lay eyes on and back muscles because damn their wings are heavy. They need special oils and soaps, and are almost constantly grooming. And they have echo voices (X). If the song Hallelujah existed in ASOIAF they would own it. The skies of the Vale always has at least one Arryn or one of it's cadet houses The Boltons: Like books-n-guns says, they're vampires with an interest in blood magic. Legend says the Boltons actually used to be able to shed their whole skin—and I mean their whole skin—until one Bolton got into blood magic and suddenly vampires. The northern weather is perfect for them. The Mormonts: Werebears! Werebears! Werebears! You think Bear Island was named after the bears that inhabit it? No. It's the werebears of House Mormont. Were as wild looking as the Starks of old just bear themed; claws and teeth and fangs and thicker hair, and were generally bigger and stronger. Now they're just strong. Lady Maege Mormont can still crush a man's head between her hands.
The Tarths: Giants. For some reason the magic has been absent from their bloodline for a few years until Brienne was born. While not as big as her ancestors, Brienne is still big and has great strength. She didn't defeat those who had a bet on her maidenhead so much as she sent them flying. People held score cards. Loras was sweating in his armour and allowed Brienne to grapple him instead shut up you drunken archer of my family I allowed it because I didn't want to fucking die. The Hightowers: Flame hair. Think Hades from Hercules. It's safe to the touch and doesn't set anything on fire...unless the Hightower it's attached to wants it. Just like when they turn the beacon's fire green to call their bannerman, a Hightower's hair can turn green at will. Please imagine Alicent entering the room not only in her green dress, but with flickering green flame hair. The Baelishs: Fiery eyes. Look up Lucifer Morningstar red eyes and you get what I'm imagining, though the pupils are a glowing flame coloured. It's hard to look like a friendly and powerless man to be underestimated by all the high lords with these eyes, but Littlefinger manages it. The Greyjoys: Krackens. Honestly I'm just imagining a kracken version of Davey Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean. But they can only get that form when wet with seawater. Can remain in that form so long as a part of their body is still in seawater. Rare times does it skip a member of the family, so sorry Aeron. The Karstarks: Since they are a cadet branch of the Starks they also benefitted from the same wolf magic—however instead of fangs they've got the claws. Sharp and deadly, the Karstarks are best at being frontline fighters where even if they lose their swords they can still maul a bitch. No, seriously, they will maul someone with their claws. They have mauled people with their claws. Rumors say they use grindstones to keep their claws nice and sharp. The Freys: Trolls, specifically bridge trolls. And not the dependable kind that they used to be back in the day. Still having that weasel look to them, they have granite skin that makes normal swords break against them and above-human strength, thus still making them the most powerful bannermen of House Tully. The Reeds: Lizard-lions or frogs. Actually, nobody really knows what the Reeds are—not now or back in the past. Not even Ned knows what Howland Reed looked like because he kept his entire person covered from the top of his head to his hands to his feet. The only thing he saw was a super long tongue jab hard at Arthur's neck that killed the knight and save him. And that's what I've got for now. Again ideas of other houses are welcome!
