yk. after talking so negatively about alberta as of recent i want to share some photos i’ve taken around here because at the end of the day, alberta is not only a beautiful province, it’s also my home. so!
these are from around banff and lake louise:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
these directly from lake louise, of obviously of the lake, but also pictures i’ve taken in and around the area on some nearby hikes!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
these are from johnston’s canyon, one one of the most famous hikes in the area. the second two are near the lower falls, but i’ve been to the upper falls once and it’s just as beautiful. the wiggly tree is just something fun about the hike! it’s been there since my mom was a kid, and even before that…
Tumblr media
and this is a photo i took while riding probably the most popular gondola that has the banff springs hotel near the bottom!
now for a couple from canmore:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i really only have a couple photos from canmore because i don’t go there super often, but these are a few i really like! the third one is my favourite, that bridge is super cool tbh
moving onto jasper:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
jasper was hit fairly recently with a lot of really awful wildfires, and since then i haven’t actually visited… but, the last time i did go, it was absolutely beautiful. the first two are photos of a hike you take a gondola to get up to, unfortunately i couldn’t finish them due to elevation sickness, but even from where i was the view was incredible. the last photo is of spirit island, which if i remember correctly, is an important place to the stoney nakoda first nation, because of their belief of mountains representing their ancestors (i really hope i got this right)
these are from abraham lake, and probably some of my dad’s favourite photos from a trip here!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
these are methane bubbles frozen in ice on the lake, which is the main attraction of going in winter! it’s freezing cold, but absolutely worth it (trust me, seeing these in real life is really awesome)
these are a little closer to my home, there’s a small hike around the elbow river my family does just about every summer!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the first is the actual hike, and the second is an inukshuk i remember seeing someone make on the hike a couple years ago! (bonus story uh one time on this hike i. may or may not have stepped in a stream of water and had to finish the rest of the hike with a wet shoe 😔)
and then for some more “city/industry focused” photos, here are a few i have of both edmonton and fort mackay!
these are some places in edmonton:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(the art gallery of alberta, and a building near the university of alberta that is literally referred to as the butterdome)
and some photos from fort mackay!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a lot of these deal with the oil sands since, yk, it’s one of the places where all the hardcore oil drilling and stuff happens. the third photo, if i remember correctly, is actually a site where they’re working to clean up all the literal toxic sludge lol. i actually think my parents worked on it! and obviously i had to include some buffalo my family saw :)
and i don’t have a lot of photos from fort mcmurry unfortunately, so i’ll ask my parents to send me some, and i’ll edit the post to add them later!
and finally, it wouldn’t be a scott alberta appreciation post if i didn’t include my home city calgary :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
inside the university of calgary, a photo of peace bridge,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a photo of eau claire mall before it was demolished, a photo of bowmont park (if i remember correctly, a photo of the reservoir i actually think looks really cool with COP in the background (a place for skiing)),
Tumblr media
and lastly for now, the northern lights just outside my home :)
there’s so much i didn’t include here: photos from kananaskis, downtown edmonton, the saddledome and the bow building in calgary, and so much of both red deer and fort mcmurray, which have all been a part of my life growing up in alberta. as much as i have complained about it here recently, it is my home, and at the end of the day, it’s a home that i love.

Alternatives to Squishmallow
So as many of you have probably already heard, Jazwares, the company that produces Squishmallows, is donating to charities that support Israeli soldiers and the IDF. They’re also supporting Canary Mission, which has been doxxing people who speak out against Israel. BDS hasn’t called for a boycott against them, but I can’t in good faith spend my money on their products, and I would strongly encourage everyone who enjoys plushies to really think long and hard about if you want to give your money to a company that’s helping support genocide!
But the holidays are coming up, and lots of us enjoy plushies and were fans of Squishmallow, and were planning to give Squishmallows to friends and family this year.
Fortunately, there are a number of great plushie companies out there, and I want to promote some of my favorites in the hopes that folks will get their plushie fix from a source that doesn’t side with Israel. So without further ado:
Fluffnest
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fluffnest got their start on Kickstarter a few years ago, and I adore the round shapes of their PuffPal plushies! My favorite is Pete the Possum, which is probably the best possum plush I’ve ever seen. I’ve also got a beautiful moth from their Kickstarter and I’ve been wanting their bats for ages. They also recently had a Kickstarter for an Animal Crossing-esque video game featuring their plushie characters and it looks fantastic.
Squishables
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can’t get over the plague doctor plushies. They’re so perfect and cute, and they’ve released other variations of them called Alter Egos, like a ghostly version, an alien, or a really sweet cottagecore one! They’ve got a ton of variety, but what I like the most are the fantasy plushies. There’s a lich! There are dragons and demons! Cryptids! Biblically accurate angels! A lot of really fun stuff!
Also they do a lot of great charity work! Right now they’re doing an auction for the Food Bank of New York City.
AfternoonFika
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AfternoonFika is a very small business of only three people, but their plushies are extremely cute. They tend to sell out fast, so I recommend following them on social media to stay on top of any restocks! They recently released a line of dinosaurs that are precious, and of course I love their iconic cactus cat and cinnamon bun bunny.
Jellycat
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jellycat has been around since 1999, so they’re the oldest of these companies. They’ve got great designs, a ton of variety, and a lot of their plushies are made to be cuddled on and not just displayed. All three of my tiny nephews sleep with a different stuffed dog from Jellycat. My mom has a sun and several succulents that she uses as decorations. There’s a little something for everyone who enjoys plushies!
If you have any other favorite companies I haven’t mentioned, feel free to add on! I’ve enjoyed Squishmallows for a while now and I’m sad to see their leadership coming out on the side that’s committing war crimes on a daily basis, but this is a good time to discover new favorite plushie companies! And remember, money speaks loudly. Even if BDS hasn’t called for a boycott of Jazwares, it sends a message when sales start dropping for companies that support genocide. It’s a small thing, but the little things we do can add up!

pls hear me out 🙏🙏 vampire!james is recently turned and doesn’t feed cause he’s such a sweetheart he doesn’t want to hurt anyone.
reader notices how weak he is and finds out he hasn’t been feeding and basically offers herself to him and it’s just really comforting and cute
Babe I hear you !!! I hear you soooooo clear (the voices omg, I was so excited to write this). Thank you for requesting!
cw: blood mention
vampire!James x fem!reader ♡ 1.7k words
James never had a problem with eating animals before he became a vampire. You pointed this out to him, once, but he only said it’s different. You suppose it is. The chicken nuggets he used to devour came to him cooked, fried, and with sauces, utterly unrecognizable from what they’d once been. There’s no separating the live-ness from what James has to eat now.
You spy on him over the top of your book. He’s sitting on the other end of the loveseat with your feet in his lap, massaging your arches through your thick socks while he watches a football match on the telly. His dusky skin had paled after he was turned a few weeks back, but he looks even paler than that now. If he were still human you’d think he was anemic. It’s four in the afternoon, and your ball-of-energy boyfriend looks as tired as if he’s ready for bed.
“Jamie,” you say, and he squeezes your heel to indicate he’s listening, “can I ask you something?”
“Of course you can, lovely, yeah.”
“Have you been feeding?”
James stiffens at the term. “Mm, why do you ask?”
It’s as close as he thinks he can get to a non-answer, and it’s an answer for you anyways. James can never stand to lie to you. It’s terribly endearing.
You turn your foot to poke his abdomen. “I can hear your stomach growling.”
His lips curve. He glances at you. “I’m not sure that’s how it works.”
“Really? How does it work?”
“I don’t actually have a clue.” James smiles, which was your aim. He’s been far too downcast for your liking, his new condition entirely to blame.
“Well, you’re looking pale.”
“I’ve been pale.”
“Paler than pale.” You set your book on the side table, moving closer to him. You sit with your feet folded under you. “Also, you haven’t been going out to feed like you used to.”
James finally looks a bit sheepish. You smile and cup his face in your hand. Though he knows you know, James has still been a tad secretive about the vampire business around you. He sneaks out after he thinks you’re asleep. You’ll hear the front door open and shut when he leaves and then again when he comes back, the kitchen tap running as he cleans himself up. You wish he’d just use the shower. You don’t mind him walking through your bedroom with blood and dirt on him if it means he gets to feel clean when he slips back into bed with you.
You rub your thumb over his cheek. “What’s keeping you?”
He sighs. His face weighs a bit heavier in your palm. You think this must be progress, and you repeat your ministrations to his cheek to encourage it.
“Everything’s hibernating,” says James, a quiet shame underlying his tone. “The…things I used to feed from are gone, and I’m not left with a lot of choices.”
You hum. “Well, you’ve gotta eat, Jamie.”
He hesitates, and you give him your sternest look.
“You do. What about the deer?”
“They’re harder to catch. And…I…I just feel bad, you know?”
You nod. Take his hand and press a kiss to his palm. Your poor sweetheart. You know James hasn’t killed anything he’s fed from, but even scaring them and potentially hurting them for the time it takes him to feed rattles him terribly. He’s too good, good and kind down to his core, but you know he’s going to have to find some way to cope other than starving himself.
“What about people?”
James’ eyes round behind his glasses. “Wha—no, I—”
“I wouldn’t mind you using me.”
He seems to falter for a moment. His thick brows draw together in stages, from disbelief to confusion and back again. “Angel,” he says, “I couldn’t do that.”
“Why not?”
“Because, it’s—it would be—”
“Or maybe we could try someone else. Someone bad, like a corrupt politician or one of those people who siphons money away from charities.”
“No.”
“Then we’re back to me.” You smile at him, one part teasing and two parts genuine. “James, I want to. I don’t like seeing you like this, and I really don’t think I’d mind it.”
James looks like he’s still having trouble processing. “You don’t think you’d mind?”
“I don’t,” you repeat patiently. “I’m sort of curious, actually. It could be fun.”
He looks, to your surprise, like he might actually be considering it. He’s gnawing on the inside of his cheek. “I don’t know if it’d be fun, angel.”
“That’s okay,” you promise him. “I want to do it for you. You’re hungry, yeah?” You try to make your voice serene and persuasive, your hand coasting up and down his arm. “Let me help.”
James looks you in your eyes. You hold his gaze. After a while, the fight seems to go out of him.
“I don’t want to hurt you,” he says.
“Oh, baby.” You kiss him on his cheek, your heart bulging. “You won’t. It’ll be fine. How do you want me? Hair up?”
He shakes his head. “It’s good the way it is. I think, um, it might be easier if you were in my lap.”
“Okay.” You grin, lifting your thigh over his so you’re straddling him. His hands settle on your hips. “Are you romancing me? Is this part of it?”
James lifts the corners of his mouth, but you can see the trepidation lingering beneath his smile. You do your best to soothe it away with your hands on his shoulders.
“I want to be gentle with you,” he says.
“I bet you say that to all your victims.”
“Sweetheart…”
“Sorry, sorry.” You’re nervous. You kiss his nose in apology.
“If I hurt you—if you don’t like it for any reason, I want you to squeeze my shoulder. Okay?”
“Okay.” You nod, trying to look certain. “Does it usually hurt?”
“I don’t think so,” James admits. “With animals, they don’t usually…move much after I’ve bitten them. I’m not sure if it stuns them or what.”
“I’ll report back,” you say seriously. You glance down at the couch cushions. “Will it be messy? Should we go to the bathroom or something?”
“No, I’m—I’ve gotten better at it. We should be fine here.”
You smile at him, your pride genuine. “Sounds good.”
James is starting to look worried again, so you kiss him. On the lips, as sweet as you can muster, and imagine all your love pouring through it. Then, you pull your hair to one side and bear your neck.
His pupils splay out.
“Remember to squeeze my shoulder.” He sounds hoarse. One of his hands slips up your back to steady you beneath your shoulder blades.
“I will,” you vow.
James looks dazed, almost reverent. He wets his lips, and when he opens his mouth you see his tongue skim over pointed teeth. Some prey animal’s instinct sends a shiver of fear through you. Your blood hums with anticipation. But just before James’ teeth skim your neck, he pauses.
“Jamie.” It’s soft, a murmur, a plea. “It’s okay. Do whatever you want with me.”
He makes a quiet sound, like a sigh or a whine, and closes the gap.
At first, it’s only like he’s kissing you. He’s exceedingly sweet about it, lips opening warmly over your skin, his tongue pressing over your artery as though testing the waters. He splays his palm wide over your back in silent warning before his teeth sink into you.
There’s a sting, but you were ready for it. You keep yourself from wincing, from doing anything that would make James move away, and after a second the pain dulls. Everything does, except for the extraordinary feel of James’ mouth on you.
“Oh.” Your mouth opens of its own accord, head lolling further to the side to give him better access. You want more, more of this, more of him. Your brain fuzzes and your heart pounds, every nerve in your body narrowing its focus to where James is sucking at your neck, lapping you up.
You wind your arms around his neck, wanting to be closer to him, and his palm coasts up your back comfortingly. You feel molten, spectacularly, transcendently languid, like you could press your fingertips to his shoulders and they’d melt right in. You don’t, not wanting him to misinterpret it as your signal and stop, but after a while James’ arms are the only thing keeping you from tipping sideways onto the couch, and he stops anyway.
He finishes with a few chaste kisses, and you think giddily that you weren’t too far off about the romancing.
“Y’okay, lovie?” he mumbles into your skin.
You hum in reply.
James presses one more sweet kiss to your neck, almost a thank-you. He seals the wound with his tongue. A giggle bubbles out of you, one shoulder coming up to ward him off.
“Sorry,” you say to James’ surprised look. Your head is starting to clear. “That part tickled.”
His grin splits his face, one part tentative and two parts relieved. “Yeah? Are you really okay?”
“Super okay,” you promise him. You can’t help grinning. “You were right, it didn’t hurt. That was nice.”
James’ expression eases, some mix of relief and interest in his gaze. “Was it actually?”
“Mhm. I would be your blood donor any time, really.”
James scoffs, but he’s clearly elated. He strokes from your hip to your ribs with a big hand, trailing tender kisses up to your cheek. You’re thrilled to see how much more energy he already has.
“I don’t know about that,” he says in between kisses. “I’d still rather not make you my victim if I can help it.”
“I didn’t feel like a victim, if that helps.” Your words go mushy as he reaches your lips, but you keep talking, wanting to make your point. “I just mean, I wouldn’t mind doing it again. Maybe when you’re lacking in other options.”
“Mm, maybe. What was it like?”
“Like a really good kiss.”
James backs up from you to give you a dubious look. “Better than the ones I give you normally?”
You grin. “Maybe a little.”
His eyebrows shoot up and his mouth drops open, curving on one side. “Oh, yeah? Bold claims.”
“I don’t know if you can compete with whatever vampire magic that was, Jamie.”
“My kisses are very magical. It seems like I may have to remind you how good they really are, though.”
You shrug coyly. “If you think you can top that, you’re welcome to try. I mean, you’re really only competing with your—”
James is on you before you can finish.

jimmy nsfw alphabet PLEASEE and maybe curly too
jimmy nsfw alphabet.
nsfw — lowercase intended ^_^
fem reader — cw for jimmy overall.. manipulation/dubcon. this might be a little heavy to some so if you’re extremely sensitive to anything i’d just skip this one. he is misogynistic to hell. hints of bi jimmy :^
requests are open and heavily encouraged, i write for every mw character ^.^
notes; using every guy i’ve ever known as inspo for writing this. don’t like? don’t read. block button is right there. i never write jimmy in a positive light and never will! curlys is already posted!
nsfw under the cut! minors do not read
Tumblr media
a — aftercare, (what they’re like after sex)
— i mean. if you ask for water or food he’ll give it to you (begrudgingly..), but it’s not something he’ll actively do. you know? he knows he can be rough at times but it’s not really a priority to him. besides, he kinda likes the sight of you all used up.
b — body part (their favorite body part, and their partners)
— for himself, his arms/shoulders. since he lifts i think he is quite lean..
— for you? probably your chest! he likes to grab at your boobs and squeeze at them, laughing at how you yelp or whatever.
c — cum (anything to do with cum, basically)
— i think his favorite would be on your face, like it gets in your hair and it’s all gross and stuff. that or would force it down your throat. wouldn’t let you go until you’ve swallowed it full. he’s scummy!
— i’ve mentioned it once before but he’s not the kind to just. not pleasure you. he has to make sex worthwhile for you to wanna do it- without much work on trying to convince you on his end. he’ll make sure you cum eventually.
d — dirty secret (a dirty secret of theirs)
— man where would i even start..
— i’ll keep it a bit light for now, maybe. he’s jerked off to you, on you, as you sleep. it’s into stuff like that. you just look so sexy laid there. sometimes he cleans it and sometimes he doesn’t.
— he always tells you the next day, however.
e — experience (how experienced are they?)
— he’s like the opposite of curly. very little committed relationships, many, many one night stands. he thinks if girls are willing to give their bodies up like that after one night, there’s no reason to be in any sort of committed relationship.
f — favorite position (self explanatory)
— you bent over some sort of table, or wall sex. whatever constrains you where he doesn’t have to do much work to do so. he also loves to pull on your hair so positions where he’s able to do that he’s into.
g — goofy (are they more serious in the moment?)
— he doesn’t think about it. like mood and tension? as long as he gets off. might make a few jokes here or there but doesn’t think much of it.
h — hair (how well groomed are they?)
— he trims if it gets too much, but it’s not really anything he cares about. doesn’t care if you’re bothered by it.
i — intimacy (how are they during the moment, romantic wise?)
— he’s not the most romantic. maybe on special occasions like your first time together, or your birthday, anniversary.. he’ll say ‘i love you’, just maybe. but in the long run he really only does it so you’ll stay.
j — jack off (masturbation headcanon)
— he jerks off whenever possible. maybe a bit of an exaggeration. the type to just jerk off while scrolling on his phone, ‘just cause’- he doesn’t think much of it and doesn’t really have one to one sessions. if he’s alone and bored he’s jerking off.
k — kink (one of their kinks)
— as a community of jimmy fuckers (i am not apart of said community, but i see you) i appreciate how we all agree he is into ddlg. he’s gross. and honestly for kinks, i’d be better to write off things he isn’t into. he’d watch women get tortured to get off, there really isn’t much he wouldn’t do.
— i won’t elaborate much on the ddlg thing because it’s personally not something i’d want to write about. but he’s into it, 100%.
— things like slapping, air restriction, tying his partner up, free use, water sports, somnophilia, corruption.. fuck- anything. really anything. just ask and he’s probably willing to do it.
l — location (favorite places to do it)
— likes bathroom stalls in gas stations because he thinks they are especially degrading and gross. even more so when you’re on your knees and pleasuring him. semi-public settings just turn him on.
m — motivation (what turns them on)
— this man gets horny to the smallest things..
— tease him even a little- show him skin on purpose and he’s fucking you straight. doesn’t take much for him to get hard.
n — no (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
— blank
— okay but anything that feels as if he’s not in full control. he likes tying you up, but he would not want to be. no way.
o — oral (preference in giving, receiving)
— he prefers receiving. eating pussy is not something he really likes to do. what pleasure could he derive from that, even? if you asked then maybe, if it’s something you really wanted.
p — pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual?)
— fast and rough. maybe slow and rough if he’s tired. he thinks rougher is better, and maybe to him but maybenot for you..
q — quickie (their opinion on quickies, how often)
— he’s into them. his goal with sex is to just get off, doesn’t care if it’s quick or ‘intimate’ as people would say. if you like them then that’s great! he’d rather do quickies than bother with actual, actual sex.
r — risk (are they willing to experiment? do they take risks?)
— he’s willing to risk a lot.. nothing that would ruin his public image, but like.. fucking in a park late at night, where someone might catch you. yeah, he’d do that. he thinks it’s hotter if you’re all exposed, and he’s masked and shit.
s — stamina (self explanatory)
— uh. like 2 rounds? anything more than that would just tire him out i think.
t — toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on themselves or their partner?)
— owns a fair share of toys, i won’t lie.. yes he owns a dildo and yes it’s for himself. he has toys for his partner as well he likes to use them often, multiple forms of stimulation- and seeing your reaction to that is extremely sexy..
u — unfair (how much do they like to tease?)
— a lot, he teases a lot.. he likes orgasm delay and stuff like that- sometimes he wouldn’t let you cum at all. he’d say such mean things in bed to, to mock you and such. shaming you for letting him do this to you. all round horrible guy.
v — volume (how loud are they? what sounds do they make?)
— he likes your noises over his. is that a surprise? thinks it’s one of the prettiest things about you. so he likes to keep it down. he’d say some stupid shit like.. making noises is a ‘girl thing’.
w — wild card (a random headcanon)
— occasionally he likes to overstimulate you, making you cum over and over. makes him feel as if he could control you if he could please you like that. no other man could, right?
x — x-ray (what’s going on underneath?)
— his penis is extremely mediocre and regular. he’s seen curlys and is extremely jealous of him. it’s funny sorry. not every guy can have a good dick, and jimmy is apart of that percentage.
y — yearning (how high is their sex drive?
— pretty high. if you’re open to fucking 1-2 times a day he is open and willing. but if that’s too much, maybe once every other day.
z — zzz.. (how quickly they fall asleep)
— falls asleep quick, but only needs like- a 10 minute nap or so. not the type to sleep, sleep- even if it’s late at night.

Red String of Fate
Tumblr media
Pairing(s): Janitor and delivery person!Yoongi x college student!reader
Genre: Fluff, angst, e2l-ish, college au-ish, soulmate au-ish
Word Count: 10.7k

A/n This fic officially marks my comeback to Tumblr *insert applause here 👏* After years of hiatus, my life finally settles a bit so I can continue what I've always loved. I had so much fun writing this one. Enjoy! This fic is still unedited though, I'll edit it ASAP.
Masterlist | Join/Leave Taglist
There were three things that Yoongi wished didn’t exist. One, flat-earthers. Two, anti vaxxers. And three, the red string of fate.
During 21 years of his life, he learned that not only the red string of fate foresaw the relationship of two people, but also the fact that it predicted hostility between them and not romance like what those legends had said. Not to mention the disturbing fact that he could see them for as far as he could remember.
He’d seen his parents divorced, his two best friends fought one another, and even random people argued on the street. And what was the similarity of all of them? That damned red string that was attached between the people involved. The sure sign that those people would go their separate ways sooner or later.
As he went about his typical Saturday which consisted of getting ready for work, doing some deliveries, and depositing some money to his parents’ bank account, he noticed the absence of his red string. With an almost inhuman speed, he finished the rest of his routine and called his only friend.
The door jingled as he pushed the door open. In an instant, a smell of coffee entered his nostrils. He couldn’t help but to take a long whiff, enjoying the rich aroma.
Upon seeing him walking in, the boy who stood behind the counter grinned at him. “Take a seat. I’ll come to you in a bit.”
He strode to his favorite spot in the cafe, at the far corner near the window where he could watch the pedestrians outside.
The boy who was once behind the counter turned the store sign to ‘closed’, turned off some of the lights, and made some drinks before sauntering to Yoongi with two cups in hand.
“Sorry for meeting you at this time, Tae. I honestly don’t know what to do if you are busy.”
“No worries. It’s not like I’ve other things to do after this.” The boy placed a cup in front of Yoongi.
“Thanks,” Yoongi mumbled. “Won’t your boss be angry if you have a guest here?”
“Nope. In fact, she encourages us to have guests. To introduce the cafe to more people, she said.”
“Good marketing strategy.”
“I know right. So, what do you wanna talk about?”
Yoongi told the boy in front of him about his day. From the moment he woke up, until the time he texted his friend to meet up with extra detail when he realized his string had disappeared.
He was just finished with the second to the last delivery. The lady who received the food thanked him and went back inside her house. He took it as a cue for him to continue with his last delivery.
It was when he was checking the next address when he felt something was missing.
He patted his pockets to look for his phone, wallet, and keys which were still intact. He made sure he didn’t forget the food he needed to deliver. He even checked his phone in case there was a task he’d forgotten to do.
But he found none.
With head full of confusion, trying to remember what was missing, he drove to the last address.
Five minutes away from the last place he needed to go, at a traffic light, his eyes fell to his left pinky, the place where his red string attached to him. The place where there was no longer a red string.
His eyes were big as saucers as he inspected his pinky.
During 21 years of his life, there was not a single time, as far as he knew, in which the red string ever disappeared. It could twist, bend, stretch, and become thinner, but never disappear. It could even fade sometimes, but could never vanish.
He looked around to see other road users. Their red strings were glaringly obvious. Some even had a deep red color.
He sighed though not all his worries went away.
He didn’t lose his ability, just his string.
“Oh my God! I just realized that your string is very much gone.”
“Do you have an idea of what this means? Or what caused this to happen?”
Taehyung leaned back in his chair and shrugged. “It’s your fault for not joining our weekly meeting.”
Yoongi met Taehyung at a club specifically made for people who can see the red string. He didn’t know what made him join the club, but he could probably blame his curiosity for that.
“I have work. Plus, it’s not like you understand what’s going on either after attending them.”
“Touché. But, do you know who’s at the other end?”
“I knew about it a few weeks ago.”
How stupid of him to ignore the weather forecast this morning. It said that there was going to be a thunderstorm. Yoongi just realized how accurate the forecaster was as the rain hit against the library's windows loudly.
His shift as the campus’ janitor had ended an hour ago, but since the rain didn’t let him go home and he was stupid enough not to bring an umbrella, he decided to wait in the library until the rain subside.
Every now and then, a thunder illuminated the dimly lit library before breaking in an ear-splitting noise. And every time it happened, he couldn't help but to wince even after hearing it for the nth time in the past hour.
He was sitting on the floor in the corner while gripping the encyclopedia on his lap. His mind couldn't cooperate for the last few minutes. He'd been reading the same line for countless times now and he grew agitated.
On the next aisle, a couple had been arguing for the past five minutes. And as much as Yoongi didn't like to eavesdrop, he had no headphones he could use to cover his ears.
"So, going out with my best friend behind my back was your brilliant solution?" the girl half-yelled.
They had been half-yelling the entire time. They knew that they weren't allowed to be loud here, yet they still chose a library out of all places to have an argument. That ticked Yoongi off.
"She came to me first, okay? I didn't know you weren't there. She said you were coming along," the boy defended himself.
Yoongi rolled his eyes. Of course a cheater would make up stupid reasons.
“Here’s what’s going wrong. One, you could leave her once you knew. Two, you could tell me you were with her. Three, you could cross-check with me first. And you did nothing out of all three.”
Yoongi smirked and nodded in agreement though he knew well they couldn’t see him. It was exactly what he’d say in a situation like that. He liked this girl, they had a similar way of thinking.
Yoongi suddenly grew curious at what the girl looked like. He scooted closer towards their voices and peeked between the books on the shelf.
Just like what he’d imagined, the girl was gorgeous. Or, at least as gorgeous as a sleep deprived college student can be.
She had a cute nose and lips, and bright eyes despite looking tired and sleepy. Dark eyebags and fading eyeliner decorated her eyes. Her hair glistened under the dim light, probably still wet due to the rain. Her pink lipstick also started to wear off, showing off her natural chapped lips.
The boy grew quiet for a bit. “Sorry, babe. It won’t happen again.”
She snorted. “I know. Because there’s no such thing as next time. Bye.”
As she walked off, his eyes trained down to her pinky, a habit he’d had because of the stupid ‘talent’ he had. He followed the red string on her pinky to the other end of the string, another habit he’d had because he was full of curiosity.
Most of the time he couldn’t see the other end, since enemies usually weren’t within sight with each other. This time, though, he kinda hoped that hers would connect to the boy she was dating. That way, it’d explain why they broke up.
Not as expected, her string ended on his pinky.
“Do you hate her?” Taehyung asked after sipping on his hot chocolate.
“Nope.”
“Maybe that’s why the string disappeared?” Taehyung suggested. “The string only connects enemies. Maybe if it makes a mistake like this, it’ll disappear.”
“Can the string make a mistake?”
Taehyung shrugged. “You don’t hate her, though.”
“But why didn’t it disappear right then, why today?”
Taehyung bit his lip, deep in thought. “Did something happen today?”
“Not today, but I met her yesterday.”
He was late to work and his dead watch was to blame. Somehow it slipped his mind to change the batteries and now he had to deal with his own stupidity.
As he scurried to campus, someone accidentally crashed into him from behind. His tattered bag fell and spilled its contents.
"Oh my! I'm so sorry!" A girl crouched beside him and helped him pick up his stuff.
"It's okay," he replied timidly.
Right as he put the last thing into his bag, the girl's friend, who since then only loomed over them in silence, clicked her tongue in annoyance.
"Can you be faster? I have a presentation in 10 minutes."
When Yoongi and the girl stood up, he finally got the chance to see who the girl's friend was. Their connected red string only confirmed it further.
Since the last time Yoongi saw her, she was in a worse condition. A cup of coffee was in one hand, a laptop in the other. Her eyes were puffy and dried tears were visible in her cheeks. Unlike back then at the library, she didn't wear any makeup. She wore an old oversized sweater which looked older than Yoongi's seven years old bag with a pair of washed up jeans that were baggy in weird places.
The girl who helped him snapped back at her, "That's your own fault for having a midlife crisis this morning."
The library girl only linked her arm around the girl's arm and dragged her.
He knew she was supposed to be his enemy, but for the rest of the day Yoongi couldn't help but to wonder what happened to her. His curiosity got the best of him now that he knew she was on the other end of his string.
Did she have another relationship problem? Or maybe her ex pleaded to get back together again? Or maybe just college stuff?
"You didn't ask her name?"
"She was in a hurry,” Yoongi defended himself.
"Still. I think we need as much information as possible, and a trusted person."
"Like who?"
"Namjoon."
"The club's leader? Are you kidding me?"
"Hey! He might be the only one who knows about this ordeal."
"But you're talking to him." It wasn’t a question.
Taehyung shook his head. "No. You talk to him."
"We're talking to him."
"Fine."
Despite Namjoon’s busy schedule and Yoongi’s multiple jobs, meeting him was easier than Yoongi had initially thought. One day he just texted him and not five minutes later Namjoon replied to meet up the next day after his shift ended. Just as promised, Taehyung came as a moral support and to provide with drinks.
After hearing Yoongi’s story, which was occasionally added by Taehyung with small details, Namjoon frowned. He bit his bottom lip and his eyes became unfocused.
“Do you think you can help us?” Yoongi asked after a minute of silence, already expecting a negative answer from the way the leader was behaving.
Namjoon’s eyes focused back to Yoongi’s. “I’m not sure. I’ve read something about this, but there wasn’t any more research about that. Maybe I can ask the previous leaders and see if they know about it.”
“Isn’t there anything we can do?”
“You said you knew who was on the other end. Can you bring her here? Maybe she knows something.”
“He doesn’t know her name, though,” Taehyung chimed in before Yoongi could say anything.
“That’s fine. Take as much time needed. I need to talk to the previous leaders anyway. Just tell me once you’re ready.”
“Joon,” Taehyung called him, catching his attention. “Is it possible that the string is wrong? Yoongi doesn’t hate her and that’s why the string disappeared?”
Taehyung’s question echoed in his mind for days on end. If his theory was right, then why was the string still there on the day at the library? Why didn’t it disappear right away? And what was going to happen now that his string was gone?
But one more question stood out the most to him. How could he ask for her to come with him without sounding creepy?
With the clock struck seven, his shift had ended and he could go home. He changed out of his uniform and walked towards the campus’ exit where there were some students still lingering.
He rolled his eyes at them. ‘Those kids are so lucky to be able to get an education at a place like this and they’re probably unaware of it,’ he thought.
Right as he was about to step out the door, a poster caught his eyes. More specifically, a face he’d grown to recognize just caught his eyes.
The poster was talking about a speech that was going to be held in a week’s time. The speech was going to be about the importance of vaccines and would be attended by some famous speakers. He knew one of the speakers.
It was the library girl. But unlike at the library nor in front of the campus, she wore a bright smile. She flashed her teeth, her eyes twinkled. Her makeup was perfectly done, thanks to meticulous makeup artists who took time with her face.
Underneath her photo, her name was printed in bold. Y/n L/n.
Yoongi gasped as he read her name again and again. He even tried how her name tasted in his mouth when he said it.
Her name was exactly like herself. Sweet, but not too sweet, with a hint of salty for her sharp words. It was closest to salted caramel in his mind.
But what was more important was the fact that he’d found her name. He grinned to himself at the thought. His only feat left was to talk to her and ask her to meet Namjoon.
The speech was held after the lunch break, which meant he got half a day to plan what to say to her. However, since he woke up, his mind had been a cloudy mess, he couldn’t think straight.
He tried to jot down possible things he could say to Y/n, but his clammy hand kept wetting his paper. He tried to type his thoughts on his phone, but his supervisor caught him playing on his phone and scolded him. All his efforts were futile in the end. His mind, paper, and phone notes were still as empty as they were this morning.
The night before, he’d talked to Namjoon and Taehyung, but both were as helpful as his empty mind.
“Just say whatever. It’s better if you tell her we’ll be talking about the red string,” Namjoon had said.
“Tell us how it goes, okay?” was the only thing Taehyung said.
When the time arrived, he waited in front of the campus’ hall where the speech was held.
Through the glass doors, he could see Y/n and a couple other speakers he didn’t care for. He couldn’t hear what they said, though. They took turns to speak, each more passionate than the speaker before them until the time Y/n stepped to the center of the stage.
All these time Yoongi only saw the angry, sad, and tired Y/n to the point he’d internalized the idea that she was like that most of the time. This was the first time he saw her speaking in front of hundreds of audience with a burning passion.
From outside where he couldn’t hear a single thing, he still felt moved and inspired by just seeing her hand gestures alone. He couldn’t imagine what it felt to be able to listen to her speech.
When she was done with her speech and bowed to the audience, they erupted in cheers and clapped their hands.
The event quickly ended with the MC saying some closing speech. With that, the crowd left the hall one by one not even minding Yoongi who was standing outside. Only a couple of faculty members and students still lingered inside, chatting animatedly with the speakers.
A pang of jealousy coursed through him at the sight of them. If money wasn’t a problem for him, he would have had a higher education just like these people. And to be reminded that those students were around his age made him sullen.
Among all the people inside, Y/n was the first to leave the hall. Looked like lady luck was on Yoongi’s side today since Y/n left all alone.
Yoongi quickly snatched his only chance and approached her.
“Hi. You’re Y/n, right?”
“Hi. Yeah, I am. And you are?” Her honey voice was sweeter than what he’d heard at the library. He could tell from her voice alone that her mood was definitely better than the last time he saw her.
“Yoongi. I’m the campus’ journalist.” At this point he just spewed out lies and he thought he was quite good at it. “Can we talk for a bit?”
“Sure. About what?”
“I was listening to your speech earlier,” another lie, “and I think you’re strongly opinionated,” not a lie. “I’m wondering if I can interview you? It’s gonna be about the red string.”
She furrowed her eyebrows. “The red string?”
Yoongi involuntarily gulped in fear Y/n would reject him.
“I don’t think I have anything to say about that, I’m sorry.”
His heart dropped.
Y/n was about to leave when Yoongi spoke up again, “Umm… It’s okay. We’re going to compile different opinions into one anyways, so if you don’t have a lot to say about it, that’s fine.”
“Oh.” Y/n stopped in her tracks. “When’s the interview then? Is it now? Because if it’s now, I have-”
“No, don’t worry. We can have the interview anytime you’re free. Plus, I won’t be the one interviewing you, an expert or something will ask the questions and I’m just gonna sum them up.”
Y/n nodded. “Can we do it tonight? Maybe around eight after the classes end?”
Technically, Yoongi could, but he didn’t know whether Namjoon was free or not.
“I need to ask the interviewer first. Make sure they’re free and all.”
“Good!”
Yoongi pulled his phone out of his pocket and handed it to her. “Can I have your number?”
Asking for a girl’s number was an achievement he didn’t know he would reach.
Y/n punched in her number and gave the phone back to him. “What’s your name again?”
Yoongi put his phone back into his pocket. “Yoongi.”
The walk to the cafe Taehyung worked at was as awkward as it could get. Two people who just knew each other for a couple of hours walking together, not knowing what to say to break the tension. Not to mention this was Yoongi’s first time walking with a girl.
Yoongi didn’t know whether he should feel lucky or not with Y/n trying to start small talks between them. Lucky because he didn’t have to come up with a topic, unlucky because he had to keep building lies upon lies.
“What year are you in?” Y/n kicked a small rock away from her path.
Yoongi counted in his head. 21 years olds usually were in their third year.
“Third. You?”
“Same. What are you studying?”
“I’m in art. Music.” In his defense, he did music in his free time, so he wasn’t exactly lying.
Y/n halted in her tracks. “Music?”
Uh, oh. Did he just say something wrong?
Yoongi also stopped walking and gave Y/n a questioning look.
“As far as I know, there’s no music major here.”
“Umm… I mean I’m studying art, but also join the music club.”
Y/n started walking again. “I see.”
Yoongi sighed in relief. Nice save.
“What-” The words caught in his throat. “What about you?”
“Science.”
The interview went pretty much the same. Only a series of questions and short answers. She was right when she said she didn’t have anything to say about the red string.
“Do you believe the red string?”
“No.”
“What do you know about it?”
“Not much.”
“Like?”
“Some people can see it.”
“And?”
“It connects soulmates.”
Yoongi stifled a laugh. If only life wasn’t so cruel, it would happen.
“What if I tell you I can see the red string?”
Y/n shrugged. “Good for you.”
“You don’t wanna know to whom yours is connected?”
And other questions that Yoongi had tuned out in boredom. From his peripheral vision, Y/n was holding back a yawn as if to confirm to him that the interview was indeed boring. The now cold coffee in front of them did nothing to keep them alert.
Thanks to his ability to ignore his surroundings for long periods of time, the interview came to an end before he knew it.
Namjoon glanced at the clock before closing his notebook. “It’s almost 10. Sorry to keep you until late.” He stood up and shook Y/n’s hand. “Thank you for helping us.”
“No problem,” Y/n said, though her eyes were starting to droop.
Yoongi was trying hard to hold his smile. It was a rare sight to see someone so tired they barely could keep their eyes open.
Worry and realization clawed at his heart at the sight of Y/n. With a little money he had in his pocket, he had to pay for her favor. Not pay directly with money, because that would be rude. But maybe give her something that she needed.
As if on cue, he heard Y/n’s stomach rumble as they said their goodbyes.
That was it! He could buy her food as a thank you.
He only had money to feed one person, though. It was supposed to be his dinner.
Yoongi bit his lip in confusion. He needed to pay tonight because he didn’t know if they were going to meet again. Plus, going without food for one night wouldn’t be that bad for his health, right? He could just start breakfast earlier the next morning.
He had made up his mind.
“Are you sure you don’t wanna eat?” Y/n asked after swallowing her burger. In front of her, Yoongi could only stare at her food while drooling.
“I’m not hungry.”
“You can take my fries.” She pushed her fries towards Yoongi. “I don’t eat fries. They make me fat.”
He gratefully shoved one into his mouth, savouring it before chewing on it. “And burger doesn’t?”
“Well, it contains meat and lettuce, so it’s not 100% carbs.”
Yoongi silently nodded though he was sure a burger contains more calories.
“How come I never see you on campus?” Y/n asked.
They had been walking towards her place for a while and Y/n refused an awkward silence to fill the air.
“We’re in different buildings, remember?”
This wasn’t a lie. Yoongi indeed worked most of the time in the arts building, a solid 100 meters away from the science building.
“Right. I keep forgetting that. Sorry.” Y/n giggled. As cliché as that sounds, her laugh sounded like bells in his ears.
“Don’t be sorry. No one really cares about art majors.”
Her giggles died down. “I care. I think art is a great way to make a statement. Not to mention it transcends all language barriers. A great media to change the world, isn’t it?”
That was definitely a view of art that Yoongi had never heard before. It would be a lie to say he wasn’t stunned at her words.
“Wow,” Yoongi eventually blurted. No wonder she was giving a speech a few hours ago.
Y/n stopped in front of a huge gate belonging to an apartment building before turning to him.
“Thank you for the food and for taking me home. I owe you one.” She smiled.
“No. Take the food as a thank you for helping me with my article.” At this point, lies came flowing out of his mouth. “And taking you home is just something normal everyone does.”
“Still. I gave you a favor, but you gave me two. It’s only right if I pay you somehow.”
“I want to, though. It helps me sleep at night.”
Yoongi stared at Y/n’s eyes. They were droopy and red from sleepiness, but still held sincerity. Before he drowned in her eyes, he pulled himself back and nodded.
“Okay.”
That night, Yoongi fell asleep with a half-empty stomach and a full heart.
The next few days went by as usual. Wake up, get ready, go to work, go home, sleep. No Namjoon, no Y/n, nor Taehyung in his mind. He was truly back to his boring life before his string disappeared.
The only difference was the ringing noise of Y/n’s words in his ears. ‘Art is a great way to make a statement.’
All these times, he only did art—music—because it was all he knew. He’d known of the possibility of making a statement with music, people had brought politics and social issues into their songs, but he wasn’t brave enough to challenge himself with those issues. He always thought that only famous or rich people were allowed to make such statements.
Yoongi’s next interaction with Y/n was in the form of a text.
Hey, Yoon. Sorry for disturbing you. But I’m curious whether my interview will make it to the campus’ newspaper.
He quickly made up another lie.
Hey. It’s fine. The team decided to change the topic, sorry. Kinda sad, I know.
Y/n instantly replied.
But you’ve worked hard for this! Can’t you say anything to them?
Oh, how he wished he could. Problem was, he wasn’t even a student here.
No convincing will do. They have made up their mind.
Y/n sent in two messages.
That’s inefficient journalism, wasting perfectly good interviews.
Before he got the chance to read Y/n’s second message, his supervisor warned him to put his phone down.
He only got the chance to read the message after his shift ended.
I think it’s the right time for me to pay you back, don’t you think?
Ice cream definitely wasn’t the first thing that came to his mind when Y/n said she wanted to pay him back. He was thinking something like paying for his bus ride home, or maybe buying him some food just like what he did for her. Basically anything that would be more useful than just a sweet dessert that couldn’t even fill an empty stomach.
He wasn’t one to complain, though. In his defense, he hadn’t had one in a long time; he didn’t even remember when was the last time he ate one. He was rather happy to break his long streak with Y/n.
“Something’s wrong with the journalism club,” Y/n said before putting a spoonful of ice cream into her mouth.
“How so?”
Y/n waved her spoon around. “How redundant to have a person interview a bunch of people only to change the topic in the end?”
Yoongi shrugged. “Things happen.”
“Does this happen often? If yes, that’s crazy.”
“I don’t think so.”
Y/n snorted. “You probably wanna keep your club’s secret. I understand.” Y/n angrily scooped her ice cream. “Aren’t you angry at being mistreated like this?”
“To be honest, I don’t care. It’s not like I like this club anyways.”
“You should leave the club, then. Do something you actually like instead of rotting in that club.”
Yoongi just nodded. What else could he do? He wasn’t even a member to begin with.
“What do you like to do? You said something about the music club.”
“Yeah. I do music in my free time although I’m not that active in the club.”
“Do you do gigs?”
Finally a topic he didn’t need to lie about.
Yoongi answered after he swallowed, “I don’t do that type of music. I don’t perform. I produce music.”
Y/n’s eyes widened. “This is the first time I know a music producer. What's it like to produce music?”
Yoongi told her about the first time he learned how to produce music, who taught him that, and even where he learned that. He was 13 at the time and a neighbor offered to show him how to produce music. It was the first time he knew music, it was love at first sight.
“I think it’s great for you to know what you wanna do,” Y/n commented after he finished his story.
“That’s the thing.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “I want to pursue it deeper but I don’t know how.”
“You can take up producing jobs?” she suggested.
It was time for him to open up. “There’s this entertainment company looking for an intern, but I don’t know if I can squeeze some time for that.”
Y/n’s face that was once relaxed, now became stern. “Are you sure you want to produce music your whole life?”
It was the same question his parents had asked him when he told them he wanted to do music.
He nodded.
The creases in Y/n’s face disappeared as she leaned back in her seat. “There you have it. Clear up your schedule and run for your dreams. If it’s worth it, you make time for it.”
That was the cue he needed to send his CV.
Despite his protests of not wanting to disturb her time, Y/n met Yoongi after her classes ended just a few days after he sent his CV.
Y/n grinned immediately upon seeing Yoongi in front of the campus’ gates.
“Have you seen the results?”
Yoongi shook his head, not trusting his voice.
“What are you waiting for? Open it!” Y/n peered into Yoongi’s phone.
With clammy, shaky hands, he opened the email and read the message.
Dear Min Yoongi,
We’ve read your CV and would like to discuss more with you on Tuesday, July 6th, 2021 at 13:00.
Regards,
Go Youngjae
He was still registering the message and rereading it over and over again when Y/n jumped and yelled, “This calls for a celebration!”
Y/n, her yellings, and people watching them thinking they were weirdos were all around him, yet his mind was clouded with the words from the message.
Only when Y/n grabbed his shoulders to grab his attention he was brought back to reality.
“What do you think?” she asked.
“Huh? A celebration?”
Y/n nodded so enthusiastically he worried she would accidentally hurt her neck.
“Okay, then.”
Y/n took a sip of her beer. “I’m jealous of you.”
Around them were bustling with people coming home from their work to eat.
“How?”
“You’re talented enough to achieve your dreams.”
“I’m not accepted yet.”
“Yet,” Y/n emphasized. “It’s just a matter of time before you work there.”
Yoongi frowned. “What do you wanna do then?”
“That’s the thing. I don’t know,” she whisper-yelled before taking a large gulp of beer. “And people think we’re adults who are supposed to know what we’re doing.” Y/n snorted.
Yoongi sipped on his own beer while nodding. Sometimes people around him forgot that he was a 21 years old kid who still needed guidance on life. Just because he had two jobs, didn’t mean he knew what he was doing.
“Are you happy with your life right now?” he asked.
Y/n shrugged. “I’d like to think so.”
“Then keep doing what you’re doing.” He knew his advice didn’t help, but he wasn’t graced with the talent to console people.
“I can’t keep being a student.” Y/n laughed in frustration. Her eyes were brimming with tears. “In a year, we’ll graduate. And then what? It’s all black for me while you’re interning. At least you have direction while I’m still as blind as a bat.”
“That sounds depressing.”
“Because it is!” Y/n whined before taking another sip. “Sorry to ruin your celebration with my sad girl problems. Let’s just talk about you.”
Oh, Y/n didn’t know how much he’d rather have his celebration ruined by Y/n than to celebrate on his own.
In between her fading makeup, he could see Y/n’s face started to turn pinkish. Out of courtesy, he gently pulled her beer away from her.
“I think you’re tipsy.”
“No, I’m not.” Y/n reached back for her beer but it was out of reach. “Give it back.”
He argued with something he knew she wouldn’t refute, “You’ll ruin our celebration even further if you’re drunk.”
That kept her sober for the rest of the night.
“I think you’re too keen for celebrations,” Yoongi commented as he eyed Y/n with a bottle of wine. He didn’t even want to know how much it cost a fortune to buy that.
“Who doesn’t like to celebrate?” Y/n sat on her couch and patted the space beside her. “Don’t just stand there. Sit down!”
It was just a few hours after his interview. While he didn’t want to assume how well it went, Y/n believed it went pretty well. In her defense, had the interview gone wrong, he wouldn’t be here in her apartment, he would be crying away in his bedroom. Thus, Y/n convinced him to have another celebration.
Y/n couch was soft to the touch and probably cost more than his kidneys, he felt bad of having to sit on it and potentially dirtying it. But Y/n didn’t pay attention to it while she poured the wine into his glass.
“We have work tomorrow.” He immediately corrected himself with a cough. “Class, I mean.”
“We won’t drink a lot.” She handed him his glass. “Just one glass.”
Yoongi took the glass. “Just one glass.”
But of course one glass turned to two, and three, and a morning full of confusion and hangover.
Yoongi woke up startled. He sat up and gasped for air. His head was killing him, as if someone was hammering his head. His throat was dry, as dry as the desert. More importantly, he didn’t know where he was until the memory of the night before came rushing into his head.
Y/n pouring his drink, laughing at something silly he said, leaned closer and closer to him as her awareness slipped away little by little. And the feeling of her chapped lips on his.
He choked on his saliva. Did he really just kiss her? Or was it just a dream?
His fingers lingered on his lips, trying to remember the taste of Y/n’s lips.
“Oh, you’re awake,” a familiar voice emerged from the kitchen. “Are you thinking about the kiss?”
Yoongi stared at the girl sitting on the dining table.
“Relax, nothing happened. Just a drunken kiss.” She shrugged before shoving a spoonful of cereal into her mouth.
How could she talk about the kiss so lightly? Or maybe he was reading too much into it while the kiss really didn’t mean anything.
“Does that happen often?” he croaked. He winced, he really needed to drink.
As if reading his mind, Y/n grabbed a glass of water and gestured to it, ushering him to take it.
Yoongi slowly got up from the couch, hissed when his headache flared, and walked to the dining table.
“Being drunk or the kiss?”
“The drunken kiss.”
She snorted. “Can you believe it? I don’t get drunk that often and I don’t kiss people every time I’m drunk.”
“You were almost drunk a few days ago.” Yoongi took a seat in front of her.
“Almost. Not completely black out drunk like last night.”
With how nonchalant Y/n seemed, Yoongi blurted out the burning question, “Doesn’t the kiss mean anything to you?”
“I’d like to believe that a drunken kiss means nothing.” She shrugged. “We’re drunk, we can’t even recall it. A meaningful kiss is not a kiss you easily forget.”
“And if you’re drunk but still remember it?”
“Is it still meaningful if the person you kiss doesn't remember it?"
Just like how it always had been, Y/n’s words rang through his ears for days. When he was scrubbing the walls, mopping the floor, taking the trash out, and even on the weekends when he had deliveries.
Not only her words, but the taste of her dry lips and the way she leaned to him etched permanently in his mind. The way she poured him a drink, the way she lazily ate her breakfast. He memorized it all like a fanatic memorizing the Bible. Not leaving a single detail out.
It was just a matter of time until he decided to take action against it.
“I can’t do this. I need to come clean with her.”
The time happened to be a week after the kiss after Taehyung’s cafe closed for the day.
“What? Who? Why? What happened?”
“I think I’m starting to like her, hard. Y/n, I mean.”
Taehyung gave him a meaningful look.
“Don’t give me that look,” Yoongi groaned. “I know it’s wrong because we’re supposed to be enemies. But she’s so fascinating, you know.”
“Tell me about it.”
“She has this… different views of things.”
Taehyung nodded understandingly. “Of course. A quirky girl who can change you. Like an unoriginal love story.”
Yoongi thought, had Y/n been there with them, she would say something along the lines of, "That what makes those movies realistic, doesn't it? Real people don't fight zombies for love."
His mind had been poisoned with the thought of her.
“She’s not just quirky, okay,” he protested, though he didn’t know whether he was defending himself or Y/n. “She’s not quirky at all. In fact, she’s the typical college student.”
“The rich, spoiled one?” Taehyung raised an eyebrow.
“The rich and spoiled one.” Yoongi nodded while chuckling, remembering your fear of adulthood and your lavish apartment.
“I don’t know, dude. But whether you like her or not, or even love her, you still need to come clean.”
Yoongi quieted down at the thought of having to confess his lies to Y/n.
“I know,” he whispered. “But I’m scared.”
“What are you scared of?”
What was he scared of? To be honest, he didn’t know. It wasn’t like he was going to confess his feelings or anything. Just coming clean that he wasn’t a student, but a janitor. That he wasn’t a broke college student, just broke.
Maybe he feared the unknown. He was entering a whole new territory he had never been to.
He’d made up lies upon lies to the person he thought he would never kiss, would never be addicted to. Would never wonder how their day went or if they had breakfast.
He was stupid. Stupid for making up those lies, stupid of ever wondering about his red string, stupid for getting involved too deep with Y/n. His supposed-to-be enemy, a person he should’ve avoided. Stupid for catching feeling with her.
He wanted to kick himself, or Taehyung, or even Namjoon. Himself because he made up those lies. Taehyung because he supported him. Namjoon because he pushed him to come up with anything.
But he knew one thing for sure. If Y/n left him after his confession, he would never forgive himself.
He was going to keep his secret a little longer. If Y/n leaving him was inevitable, at least he had delayed it as long as possible.
Y/n’s life must only contain college and celebrations.
After the results came back—he was officially an intern—Y/n wanted to hold another celebration in his stead.
“We must celebrate every milestone in our lives,” she had said.
Going by her motto, he reluctantly agreed to have another celebration. This time in the form of a small party. So small, only three people were involved. Y/n, Taehyung, and himself.
“Taehyung is your barista friend, right?” Y/n asked enthusiastically when Yoongi told her about his plans. “I always wanted to work part time as a barista,” she sighed dreamily.
Y/n was in charge of the drinks—Yoongi told her not to bring alcoholic drinks. Taehyung was with the take out food. And Yoongi was going to host the party in his house.
He hoped his mom wouldn’t mind having his friends come over.
In fact, his mom was the complete opposite. She was too hyper in his opinion.
First of all, his mom literally bonked him in his head with a vegetable spoon. “Had you told me about it, I’d make some food.”
Second of all, she embarrassed him in front of Y/n. “Yoongi here never told me that he has a pretty friend like you.”
Third of all, she started playing matchmaker. “Are any of you dating Yoongi? No? I think he looks good with Y/n, don’t you think, Taehyung?”
Yoongi had had enough.
“Mom,” he groaned. “Please, stop.”
His mom giggled. “Alright, alright. I’m going back to my room. After you’re done, clean everything up, okay.”
“So, Tae,” Y/n immediately opened her mouth after Yoongi’s mom left, “Is your boss looking for a part-timer?”
“I don’t think so. She never mentions anything about that.”
Y/n nodded sadly. “If she ever looks for a part-timer, can you tell me? I’m interested.”
“Sure.”
Y/n eyes lit up. “Oh my God, really?” She laughed. “I owe you one.”
Taehyung waved his hand dismissively, “Nah, I don’t mind helping out a friend.”
“Are we friends?”
Taehyung shrugged. “A friend of my friend is my friend.”
Y/n clapped in excitement. “That’s what I think, too! I think we’re going to be great friends.”
While they were having a conversation, Yoongi only listened and imagined a life without Y/n. A life after he confessed. His parties would just be filled with silence. Heck, he wasn’t even sure if he would ever throw a party ever again.
But then another thought popped up. This one was more urgent like a ticking time bomb.
He had to leave his current job, and Y/n, to work at his new place.
No matter if he told her or not, she would eventually be out of his life.
The question had changed, then. It used to be when he was going to tell the truth. Now, it was whether he wanted to leave her on a good note or not.
“Hey.” Y/n touched his arm lightly to pull him from his thoughts. “Are you okay? Why are you so glum?”
Yoongi just shook his head, not trusting his own voice.
“Are you sure?” She frowned.
“Y/n, prepare the fruit punch! Let’s have a toast for Yoongi,” Taehyung said, catching both of their attention.
Soon after his friend said that, Y/n’s warm touch left his arm.
Though the party only ended when both of his guests went home, the fun part of the party left with Y/n. It was marked by her phone rings.
She quickly tossed her stuff into her bag and explained, “It’s my alarm. I have an assignment I forgot to do and a class early in the morning.”
“You’re going home now?” Taehyung’s glass of half-full fruit punch looked sad in his hand.
She sighed. “I’m sorry for ruining the party.” She looked at Yoongi. “Again.”
“It’s okay,” Yoongi replied. “How will you get home, though? It’s dark outside.”
“I’ll call a cab.” Y/n slung her bag over her shoulder. “Tell your mom I say thank you for having me.”
With one last glance at Yoongi, she left.
“What does she mean by ‘again’?” Taehyung dared to fill the silence.
Yoongi explained everything. About the burger after her interview, the ice cream, the beer and Y/n’s sob story, the interview and the drunken kiss, and this party. All the while Taehyung listened to every word he said.
“You can’t keep her in the dark. She’s too nice and sincere,” Taehyung finally said.
“I’ll leave her anyway. I can’t keep my job at the campus while being an intern.”
“And never tell her the truth? That’s cruel, dude.”
“It’s either that, or she hates me for the rest of her life.” With a choked voice, he added, “I don’t want her to hate me.”
“You can’t possibly think of that.” Taehyung shook his head. “You’re selfish if you do that.”
“Is it wrong to be happy?” Yoongi cried.
“Yes, if you’re sacrificing her trust. Your happiness is just a lie.”
“But you were the one encouraging me to talk to her back then!”
“Had I known you were going to fall with her, I would have told you to be honest.”
He shook his head, refusing to listen to his friend’s words. He had made up his mind and there was no need for Taehyung to make him doubt his choice.
“I’m going to enjoy my time with her as long as possible.”
Taehyung’s next word, however, echoed in his mind. “You’re going to regret this.”
You’re going to regret this. The words kept ringing in his ears, just like Y/n’s words. But unlike hers that was soothing, this was hot and painful. He deserved it, though. He needed a constant reminder that he was living his best life at the expense of Y/n, her trust, and Taehyung.
“So, there’s this opening party for a new club this weekend.” Y/n stirred her tea with her straw. “And I need a plus one. I’d ask my friend, but she has a seminar or something.”
As Taehyung’s words screamed in his mind, Yoongi asked, “You want me to come with you?”
“Well, if you’re okay with that. We won’t be there long, I promise. I just wanna say hi and stuff.”
You’re going to regret this.
“Sure. What should I wear?”
Y/n shrugged. “Anything comfy. It’s just like a normal frat party at someone’s house.”
Yoongi had never been to a frat party.
By the time they arrived, the party had already started. The music blared out loud, Yoongi was sure the neighbors were filing a complaint. Inside, people were dancing, singing, and playing drinking games.
Yoongi winced when a drunk person hit him accidentally.
This wasn’t a pleasant experience.
Y/n had been long gone from his side, being dragged away from him right when they passed the door. He remembered Y/n flashing him an apologetic smile and mouthed to him, “I’ll be back.”
She’d be back. All he needed to do was stay exactly where he was and don’t catch other people’s attention. He wouldn’t want an art student to recognize him.
“Hey, I think I know you,” the drunk person from earlier slurred.
Yoongi cursed under his breath. So much for trying to stay low profile.
“No, you don’t,” Yoongi replied, trying to get away from him, but he instead grabbed his arm.
“Yes, I do. I’ve seen you somewhere.” He called his friends over. “Do you know this guy?”
Gulping, Yoongi saw some of them nodded while the others shook their heads.
“I’m sure I’ve seen him before.” The drunk guy frowned, trying to remember where he met Yoongi. “Did you watch our speech?”
Yoongi’s eyes widened. There was no way this dude was a speaker there. He didn’t recall him at all.
“What’s going on here?” A booming voice came from behind him.
Yoongi turned around and sighed in relief when his eyes met with Y/n’s.
“Y/n! Have you ever met this guy?” The drunk guy pointed to him.
“Yes! He’s my friend. Get away from him.” Y/n yanked the guy’s hand off of Yoongi’s arm.
“Okay, geez.” The guy raised his hands in surrender and walked away.
Once the guy was out of ear sight, Y/n hissed, “What were you thinking? He’s a person you don’t wanna get involved with.”
“He approached me first,” Yoongi defended himself.
Y/n shook her head. “Doesn’t matter. Just try not to get too close with him.” Y/n whispered in his ears, “He’s a fuckboy.”
Y/n took his hand and was about to pull him out of the party when suddenly another drunk guy stopped them.
Yoongi immediately recognized the boy to be Y/n’s ex, the one she was talking to back at the library.
“Y/n!” he called, pretending to be surprised, but Yoongi could see straight to him. “I didn’t know you were gonna be here.”
Y/n snorted. “That’s supposed to be my line. Now, get out of my way.”
“No way. I haven’t seen you in weeks. I miss you.”
Y/n furrowed her eyebrows. “And I don’t. If you have some kind of self respect, please go away.”
“There’s no way you don’t miss me. Are you seeing someone else?” The boy nodded his head towards Yoongi. “Him?”
Y/n gave her ex a straight face for a few seconds. But then her face lightened up as she whispered to Yoongi, “Play along.”
“Yes!” she answered while linking her arm around Yoongi’s. “I’m with him.”
It was the ex’s turn to furrow his eyebrows.
He checked out Yoongi. From his face, down to his clothes and shoes. Scepticism was evident on his face.
“He doesn’t look very loaded,” the ex commented, much to Yoongi’s dismay.
Y/n shrugged. “At least he’s smarter than you.”
The ex’s attention was back on Y/n. Yoongi finally could draw a deep breath.
“He can’t possibly make you happy.”
“And your cheating ass can? Get out of my face.” Y/n pushed the ex away to the point he stumbled.
As Yoongi and Y/n walked past him, the ex yelled, “I’m marking your face, remember that.”
“Whatever. Just ignore him,” Y/n said.
“I’m assuming he’s your ex?” Yoongi asked though he already knew the answer. He could recognize the lanky boy anywhere.
“Yep. Thanks for the help, by the way.”
“I didn’t do anything.”
“You did a lot by staying quiet.” Y/n chuckled softly as she shook her head. “He was looking for a fight, your silence confused him.”
“Why did you come to this party if it’s filled with problematic people?” he asked.
“I need to at least stop by. The club was my idea, after all.” Y/n shrugged. “Plus, not everyone there was problematic. Some are nice.”
Yoongi nodded. “I see.”
Y/n sighed. “Let’s go home, shall we?”
Resigning was another problem he had to deal with. First of all, he needed to make a letter of resignation which he didn't know how to make. Second of all, he had to print the letter though he didn’t have any printers. Third of all, he had to face his manager whom he only met once.
His manager stared deep into Yoongi’s eyes after reading his letter. “You have a new job?”
“Yes.”
“When will you start working there?” His boss tossed his letter to the trash can.
So much for trying to make a good letter.
“Two weeks from now.”
His boss pursed his lips for a moment before answering, “Okay, then. You may leave.”
“Thank you.”
Once he was outside his boss’ room, Yoongi exhaled in relief. His current job was coming to an end.
And so was his friendship with Y/n.
Three days before Yoongi left his current job, Y/n wanted to meet him in front of the campus after her class ended. He didn’t know why she wanted to meet him. After all, all she sent was a short text.
Meet me at 7 at the usual spot. Important!
He couldn’t help but to feel a sinking feeling at her last word. Did she find out about who he actually was? Or about the red string?
He was going to get his questions answered soon since he could already see the back of Y/n’s head.
But he didn’t even get the chance to greet her when Y/n turned around to face him and shoved her phone in front of Yoongi. A photo of him in a janitor uniform while holding a broom was displayed.
Yoongi stopped in his tracks and gasped. His eyes wide and mouth agape.
“Where did you get that?” Inside his deepest mind, he knew who’d taken the picture.
“What is this?” she demanded.
“I-”
“This is edited, right?” Her voice wavering, eyes brimming with tears. “You’re just a student just like me. Right?” She sounded desperate. Desperate to believe that Yoongi wasn’t lying to her.
All Yoongi could do was to look down and shake his head in shame.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” she sniffled. “I trusted you.”
“I wanted to tell you but I was looking for the right moment.”
“Bullshit! That’s all what they say. Have you ever thought of me as a friend?” She stared at Yoongi with so much venom in her eyes.
“I’m sorry.”
Y/n wiped her tears aggressively. Her mascara started to run down her cheeks. She looked similar to the day at the library. The day Yoongi was making fun of her ex for being stupid. But this time, he was the stupid one.
“Stop saying sorry, dammit! What part of you are real? Are the company, the email, your internship all lies? Your ambitions, too?” At this point, her tears flowed freely down her face. “Answer my questions!” she yelled ferociously, not minding about passersby who stopped to watch them.
Yoongi really wanted to spill everything. From the library, the connected red string, then when it disappeared, the speech, and the friendship he’d gotten from it. But his mouth was sealed. Closed with the weight of the words.
With the lack of an answer, Y/n shove her phone back into her bag. She nodded and sniffled one last time.
“You’re just like my ex. A liar. A dirty, dirty liar.” She laughed sourly. “You know what’s funny?”
Yoongi shook his head.
“The fact that my ex was right all along. You can’t make me happy.” She visibly gulped, trying to hold back her tears. “Thanks for the friendship all this time. Goodbye.”
Just like that, she left his life without a trace.
Each word coming from her mouth attacked him like bullets. And it only hurt more every time he replayed it. He liked the pain, though. He deserved it after ruining his second friendship. He deserved it after hurting his friend.
The remaining days at his current job dragged on. He couldn’t focus at all. He kept forgetting his tasks, forgetting to turn off the ACs after the classes were over, getting scolded by his supervisor.
Not to mention that he found out Y/n had blocked him on every single of his social media, effectively cutting any means of communication.
“The manager told me you’re leaving. But I don’t want you to slack off,” his supervisor once said.
He wanted to scream at his supervisor, his manager, anyone that there was a giant tear in his heart. His heart was bleeding and it wasn’t going to stop anytime soon. The best he could do was show up to work. But just like at the night when Y/n confronted him, his mouth was shut tight.
That same day, Namjoon visited him after his shift ended. While there was a twinkle in the leader’s eyes, Yoongi’s eyes were filled with void.
“I’m done with my research,” Namjoon said.
Yoongi sighed. He just wanted Namjoon to say whatever he had to say and leave him alone. Better if Namjoon cursed him too before he left.
“You’re actually in a good place.”
Yoongi wanted to laugh at that. Oh, the irony.
“She’s no longer your enemy. But, you're in a grey area right now. Play your cards right, and you'll find your true love. Take a step wrong, and you'll make a new enemy.”
“Look.” It was the first time he opened his mouth in front of Namjoon. “I know you’re just trying to help. But it’s too late.” He bit his bottom lip. “I already made her an enemy.”
Instead of curses, Yoongi was getting a warm, knowing smile.
“It’s to be expected, actually. Your string was attached to her, after all. I never said it was easy to make her your true love. Only that it was a possibility.”
“Then, do I still have the chance to-” He didn’t need to finish his question for Namjoon to know what he wanted to say.
“Since you’re no longer attached to her, your enemy status is not permanent.” Namjoon laughed. “So, I’d say, go for it.”
Yoongi stared at the ground in disbelief. Warmth emerged from his heart, where emptiness was once, and spreaded throughout his body.
“But she hates me,” he whispered.
“I’m not a counselor. But you might have a chance, if deep down she feels the same.”
That was the problem. He didn’t know if she felt the same.
On his last day, Yoongi was packing his stuff up from his locker, shoving it mindlessly into his old duffle bag.
His supervisor was leaning against the locker beside him with an envelope in hand.
“You’re actually leaving, huh?”
“I don’t break promises.” Yoongi zipped up his bag and closed the locker.
His supervisor handed him the envelope. “Here’s your pay. Thanks for working with us.”
With a curt smile, Yoongi accepted the money. His job here was done.
He was about to leave the perimeter of the campus, promising himself not to look back for the last time, when he heard someone shout his name. Someone he had been dying to talk to. Someone he’d be willing to break his promises for.
He turned around and came face to face with the owner of the voice.
“I’m sorry,” they both said at the same time.
Yoongi gestured to Y/n to talk first.
“I’m sorry I didn’t let you explain first. I was too caught up in my emotions.”
“No worries. It’s nothing compared to lying.”
“I've already come to terms with it. You were probably scared. It happens to the best of us.”
Yoongi nodded. “I was. This is better, actually. I don’t need to hide the truth anymore.”
“What were you scared of?”
He took a moment to respond. “I guess, being rejected.” It came out more like a question.
Y/n frowned. “Why would I reject you?”
“In my mind, you’re rich and amazing and perfect, basically everything a person wants to be. And because of that, I’m scared you’d think of me as being less than you.”
Y/n snorted. “I’m not perfect. My life is fucked up in its own way. I just never tell anyone about it.”
His mind reverted back to Y/n’s fight with her ex back at the library, and again at the party.
“I would never think of you less. Even if you lied to me.” Y/n flashed him a genuine smile, a sign that he had been forgiven. “Mistakes happen so we can learn from them. What’s important is that at least we acknowledge that and learn to be better.”
Yoongi nodded. He knew her words would ring in his ears for days as usual.
“May I know who took the photo?” he asked.
“My ex.”
His suspicion was confirmed. Somehow he felt even more at peace.
“He marks my face, no wonder.”
“I already told him not to mess with you again.”
“Thanks.”
“It’s nothing.” Y/n shook her head.
Y/n looked down at the duffle bag in his hand. “You’re leaving now?”
“Yeah. It’s time for me to move on with my life.” ‘And move on from you’, he added in his mind.
“Do you wanna grab ice cream for the last time? For old time’s sake?”
Y/n scooped her ice cream as she said, “Stupidly, I forgot to give you the chance to explain yourself. Again.”
Yoongi shrugged. “It’s no big deal.”
Y/n dropped her spoon. “It is for me. So for my sake, please explain.”
Just like that, Yoongi blurted everything out. Letting out everything that had been pulling him down. The fight at the library, the interview, and everything happened after that. Including the red string.
“Wait, red string?” Y/n furrowed her eyebrows.
“Right. You don’t believe the red string actually exists, do you? Well, I can see it.”
Y/n’s eyes widened as big as saucers. “Are you making up another lie?”
“Unfortunately, that’s the truth.”
Y/n leaned back in her chair as she snorted. “There’s no way that’s true.”
“Well, if you don’t believe me, you can ask Taehyung. You believe him, right?”
“Yeah, he’s still my friend.” She blinked her eyes repeatedly. “But what does that have anything to do with him?”
“He can see them, too. That’s how we know each other, actually.”
Y/n laughed in surprise. “I’m surrounded by crazy people.”
“We’re not crazy!” Yoongi searched for Taehyung’s contact in his phone. “Just talk to him first.”
After one ring, Taehyung picked up the call.
“Why are you calling me? I don’t want to talk to you until you’re telling her the truth.”
“I’m doing that right now, but I need your help.”
“For what?”
“Tell her about the red string, our red string, and the fact that we can see them because she doesn’t trust me.”
A shuffling sound could be heard in the background. “Okay. Give her the phone.”
During the entire phone call, Y/n was mostly nodding while saying, “Yes”, or, “Sure, or, “I understand.” Some questions were also thrown around like, “Mine was attached to Yoongi?”, and, “Mine disappeared?”
A few minutes later, the call ended and Yoongi’s phone was back in his hand.
“Wow,” that was all she said.
“So, do you believe me now?” Yoongi bit his bottom lip.
“Now I understand why you lied to me.” Y/n giggled. “Had you not lied to me, I wouldn’t come with you.”
“That was what went in my head at the time.”
“But what if I believed the red string? Or if I could see them?” Y/n teased before shoving her ice cream into her mouth.
Yoongi was stunned for a while. “I’d like to not think about that.”
Y/n laughed so loud it was etched into his head permanently.
The ice cream date could only go so long before they had to part ways and go home.
“So, this is goodbye?” he asked nervously, the duffle bag still clasped in his hands.
Y/n shook her head and smiled. “No. I believe this is a ‘see you later’.”
“See you later, then?”
“See you. When you’re famous, please have a collab with me so I can be famous, too.”
Yoongi let out a genuine laugh for the first time since the fight with Y/n.
Though parting and saying goodbye were never his forte, at least he could let out a laugh. He wouldn’t want his ‘see you later’ ruined with tears or sobs.
Not only Y/n’s laugh was stuck in his mind, the way Y/n’s hand flicked when she waved at him would also be another memory of her he treasured the most.
He swore to himself he still remembered the way to the administration office, but somehow all memories of the campus suddenly disappeared once he went past the gates.
As he was trying to recall where the administration office was, his thoughts were interrupted with a loud cheer coming from a group of girls in graduation gowns.
He frowned and stared at the group, showing his displeasure.
“Wait, Yoongi?” A girl ran away from the group and hugged him, making him stagger.
Yoongi was about to scold whoever just hugged him when his eyes landed on a familiar face. It was Y/n, his old crush.
“Y/n?” He stared at her attire. “You’re graduating?”
Y/n nodded while flashing her teeth at him. “Surprise!”
“You didn’t tell me you’re graduating.”
“Well, it’s been a year since we last met, right? It’s time for me to graduate. I’m sick of this place.” Y/n glared at him while pointing to the map he was holding. “And you didn’t tell me you’re a student here.”
“It’s only right to study here after working here.”
“Still! What about your work?”
“My boss wants me to pursue a higher education.”
“Oh, I see.” Y/n turned around to look at her friends before facing back to Yoongi. “I’m almost done with my stuff.” Her eyes glistened in mischief.
With a bored look, Yoongi asked, “What do you have in mind?”
He still remembered how outgoing Y/n was. It was something he liked about her.
“You finish whatever you need to do, then meet me at our usual spot, then we go for ice cream. What do you think?”
“Is it another celebration?” Yoongi raised an eyebrow.
“Of course.”
Yoongi’s smile was enough as an answer.

HEY YOU TURBO/WIR FANS!
Yeah I’m talking to YOU! 🫵
Do you want to know current updates in some of the Disney parks either I found or are recently happening? Maybe!
Ooooo you want to soo bad 👇👇 oooOoOoOo…
Hi. Im your residential Disney parks factoid. This doesn’t mean give your money to the parks and I still highly encourage getting merch/etc off hand :]
There’s a lot of content I’ve found while searching specific things in regards to Disney! So let’s start from oldest to newest? Sure !
1. KING CANDY BUG FEATURED IN WORLD OF COLOR
(Video credit to Theme Park Review on YouTube! Check out full video here)
This is from a Special Edition World of Color show in Disney California Adventure called “Celebration!” It was to celebrate Walt Disney’s legacy. This show only went from May 2015 to September 2016, and hasn’t shown again. This show included our beloved king candy Cybug BUT it also included two other scenes from WIR (albeit briefly)! Those being “Ralph and Vanellope’s handshake” and “Ralph’s sacrifice (when he’s falling towards Diet Cola Mountain)”
Is it a VERY VERY short clip of him? Yes 😔 but the idea he was chosen specifically for a ‘special edition’ of WOC while being paired with big bads such as Ursula, Scar, Sid, Maleficent, and even Stinky Pete (and more!) is so awesome to me!
2. NEW POSSIBLE WIR TOKYO DISNEY ATTRACTION!!
Tumblr media
In the year 2026 we are apparently getting a Wreck-it Ralph inspired ride! It will be in their Tomorrowland, replacing Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters (which I believe has already closed in late 2024 to begin construction!). Here’s the summary (read more about it here):
"In the new attraction, guests will team up with Vanellope and Ralph for an adventure in the game world. Riders will help save the world of the racing video game Sugar Rush, which is about to be destroyed by the bugs created by King Candy. Working together, players will return the sugar bugs to the original, cute sweets such as cookies and cakes."
I’ve heard it will look like Ant-man and the Wasp: Nano Battle in Hong Kong Disneyland (click here to see video of that ride!), a mix of screen and real props where you have to shoot (???) created by King Candy. Are these bugs referring to game-glitches or Cybugs? I’m unsure! But since KC is mentioned I’d LOVE to see if he could be apart of the ride as a “boss level” ending bit sort of deal (kind of like Zurg in Buzz Lightyears!)
3. VANELLOPE SWEET POP WORLD IN TOKYO DISNEY JUST OPENED!!!
Tumblr media
From January 15th to March 16th, 2025, Pal-Palooza is featuring our favorite little racer!!
This brings forth LOTS new Vanellope centered merch, as well as events within the park that includes a specialty parade, food and drink, photo ops, hotel services (there was an AR thing involved w the hotels 👀)
This post is getting too long BUT!!! THIS NEWS IS SO EXCITING, 2025 is the year for WIR I guess! 😭😭
If people wanted I’m totally down to go over something that was ‘Ralph Breaks Virtual Reality’ that TheVoid had hosted before their closure. But :] I’ll leave it at this for now!
((Like stated. I am a Disney park factoid, I love updates and such especially if it involves my favs! I figured this would be a decent way to update fans who aren’t in the know about past/current WIR ‘wins’(?) Feel free to ask any questions for more depth and I will gladly do the research! :] have a lovely day everyone!!))

Part 2 - Puppy Love
Summary: Aurora is busy with interviews when everything goes south
Warnings: None <3
a/n: How are we feeling about this story guys? Thank you for all the love!
Tumblr media
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Here’s the thing Aurora, we need to get these music videos filmed for your new album and you aren’t answering our calls. This is the first time I’ve seen you in three weeks because you always tell me you’re busy ‘house shopping’ or some bullshit excuse. It’s time to get shit done.” Mark Fuego, one of music's biggests managers, who also happens to be Aurora’s manager, hadn’t stopped barking orders at her since he showed up at her place 10 minutes ago.
“Next week we are planning to film the music video for “Espresso,” no more fucking house shopping to avoid me, be there. Then you have four interviews lined up: one with Vogue, then a Q and A with GQ, then a puppy interview, and then a google Aurora Prince interview. All of them will take place in L.A. so also, no avoiding me. Then the week after that Vogue would like to know if you would do a fitting for them.” Mark hadn’t mentioned anything about a fitting for Vogue, Aurora was used to the regular interviews, but a fitting was unusual.
“Soooo, what’s this fitting you’ve been holding out on me?” Aurora’s smirk deepend as she doom scrolled on Instagram, avoiding eye contact with Mark. She heard Mark stand from his normal stressed position. Crouched on her letcher chair, occasionally sitting up straight to give his back a break from the stressful position.
“I’m not promising you anything right now, but Vogue has a huge show coming up in France. They reached out to me a little while ago asking if you would want to be fitted for some outfits.” Mark knew this was a huge dream for Aurora. Walking in a Vogue fashion show, let alone in France. She wouldn’t pass this opportunity up for anything. “You winning Album of the Year last year really made them want you apparently. They haven’t seen how annoying you are.”
“Pretty sure I’m the one that pays the bills for that million dollar house you just bought Mark.” Aurora considered Mark to be one of her closest friends but also the one person who could keep her grounded. He was actually the person that was encouraging her to move out of L.A. the most. “You know, the house shopping that you despise so much is going great. Just so you know.”
“Let me hear it, where are you thinking?” Mark had moved from his leather chair to the same couch Aurora was sitting on. Chicago P.D. was playing quietly in the background. “Better not be too far from here. You know how I feel about flying.”
“Don’t freak out, but I’m really loving Chicago right now. I looked at a place a couple weeks ago and I can’t get the city out of my mind. It’s beautiful and absolutely nothing like here. I also flew to Cincinnati while I was there. Its night life is amazing. I can’t ignore that. Oh my gosh, Boston. I loved it there too. I would say those are my top three right now. They just, I-I-I don’t know. It feels like a fresh start.” Aurora couldn't help but feel giddy when she thought about leaving her Los Angeles life behind and starting new.
“You have to do what you think is right, and if the midwest or east coast lifestyle is treating you right, then fuck it. Move there. I’ll sell this house and be right behind you.” Aurora leaned over to engulf Mark in a hug. “I know I give you a lot of shit, but I’d do anything for you. I hope you realize that. Even if it means giving up my million dollar home.”
“I love you Marky” The blonde girl couldn’t help but laugh.
~~~
“Okay, I think we have everything we need, Aurora. Thank you so much for spending time with GQ!” The direction smiled brightly at her as she started to take down the stage lights. Aurora hopped off her chair only to be met with Mark.
“Alright, we need to head over to your puppy interview now. Your stylist has something for you to wear. Not sure what you wear to get peed on by a bunch of puppies but she said she had a whole outfit planned.” Aurora ended up wearing a pair of black jeans with birkenstock clogs and a deep red top. About two hours later she arrived at the Buzzfeed interview headquarters to meet all the puppies.
“Hi, I’m Angie. The interview will only last around fifteen minutes. We will ask you questions from behind the camera and while you answer just play with the puppies. All of them need to be adopted so it’s a good cause.” Angie didn’t stick around long enough to ask anymore questions. Aurora took a seat on the floor, awaiting her 10 little visitors.
“Oh my gosh, you guys are so cute.” Aurora instantly picked up a little black lab named Snickers.
“Alright, do you have any pre-performance rituals?”
“Uhhhh, I wouldn’t say I do. Snickers, bud, you gotta chill out. Actually, now that I think of it, we did have one on the Midnights tour. Before every show we would take a shot before I went out. Not a good habit.” Snickers had become extremely squirmy in Aurora’s arms so she switched him out for a corgi named Basset.
“What is your favorite food to eat on the road?”
“Hands down, McDonalds. Sorry, I know that’s such a bad answer. Those chicken nuggets are my weakness. With a diet coke. Oh my gosh. I definitely could eat that everyday.”
“What is your favorite song to perform?”
“Uhhhhhhh, this is actually such a hard question to answer.” Aurora actually hated this question. She never knew what to say. “Karma is so fun. Like, let's be honest. Everyone is dancing in the crowd. I also really love performing Feather. The choreography is just so much fun and all my dancers get involved. Honestly, I want to perform every song.” This back and forth questioning went on for a while until Angie warned Aurora this was the last two questions.
“Alright, what is your go to show right now?”
“This is so easy. Chicago PD. I don’t even have to think about it. I’ve been watching that show since season 1, no matter what I’m doing I will have time for Chicago PD on Thursday nights.” Aurora let out a deep laugh because she knew everything she was saying was true. She would leave parties early to go home and watch her comfort shows and eat junk food.
“This is the question everyone has been dying to know about Aurora.”
“Oh gosh, I’m nervous now.”
“Who is your celebrity crush?”
“I-I uhhhhh, oh, ummm. I don’t know.” Aurora wasn’t big on sharing her ‘crushes’ online because everyone always had an opinion. Even if it was just for an interview. “I don’t know if you would say he’s a celebrity, but he’s in the NFL. I do love seeing Joe Burrow on my TV.” Everyone behind the cameras started laughing, making Aurora break into a cheesy grin.
“He definitely is easy on the eyes. Thank you Aurora Prince for joining Buzzfeed today. Go shoot your shot with Joe Burrow.” Angie started to coral the puppies and bring them to a back room.
“You know that’s gonna go viral on social media. Everyone is gonna love that you ‘adore’ Burrow.” Mark grabbed Aurora by the arm guiding her through the building, probably to her next interview.
“They set me up. I mean I wasn’t lying. Ask anyone, he’s a good looking guy. You think I cheer for the Bengals because I like orange?” Aurora had been to a couple Bengal games but never gotten the chance to meet Joe. Ja’Marr and Tee had reached out and wanted to meet her but she figured Joe was a busy man.
“Okay, you have three hours before the Google Aurora interview. We are gonna grab something to eat and then get you changed. What do you want?”
“McDonalds. Obviously!”
~~~
Aurora was midway through her last interview of the day with WIRED. She was revealing all sorts of basic questions. Who is Aurora Prince, What does Aurora Prince do, blah blah blah. Honestly, she was getting bored. This wasn’t something she liked to do, sit around and talk about herself all day.
“Okay Aurora, we have one more board for you to do and then we will let you go.” Some guy named Tony was running this interview.
“Alright, what does Aurora Prince weigh? Oh my gosh. Okay. People really want to know everything about me now. Honestly guys, I don’t know. What I care about is if I can get through a two hour set list without being tired.” What a rude fucking question to ask. “Okayyyyy, who is Aurora Prince’s brother? I actually don’t have any siblings. Only child right here. I had the best childhood growing up. I never had to share anything with anyone. What is Aurora Prince’s favorite color? Pink, pink, pink, and pink. I love everything about the color pink. It’s such a beautiful color. Real guys wear pink.” Everyone behind the camera broke out laughing along with Aurora.
“Alright guys, last question for you. Are Aurora Prince and Joe Burrow dating? What, no. No way this was one of the most Googled things about me.” Aurora looked around the room catching Mike's eyes. He just shrugged his shoulders, there was nothing they could do about the question now. “You guys move quickly. No, me and Joe are not dating. Matter of fact he’s too busy for me. I’ve been to a couple of Bengals games and I haven’t gotten the chance to meet him. So no, me and Joey B are not dating. He’s still up for grabs ladies, I’m not stealing your man.”
“We did notice you follow him on Instagram. Does he follow you back?” This Tony guy was really pushing Aurora's buttons. This interview was gonna create a false narrative.
“Uhhh, I don’t know. I can check.” She pulled out her phone, even though Aurora knew the answer. Joe didn’t follow her. “Nope, I’m just a fan guys.”
“Thank you Aurora for your time today.” Aurora grimaced as soon as the cameras turned off. She prayed Joe would never see this interview.
“Mike, he can never see that. Please” Aurora couldn’t let her ego take a hit like that. It wasn’t like she was pining over Joe Burrow but a man that looks like a Greek God can’t see something that embarrassing.
“Sorry sister, it’s out of my hands.”

Hiking Trip (2) | Yandere Diasomnia
Tumblr media
First Chapter
Not long into your night your time with Lilia ended as the tent you were in went up in flames
Cuddling into Lilia’s side for the rest of the night
by sunrise your tent is no more and everyone was waking up to your unfortunate circumstance
“That’s awful. If you like my sleeping bag is large enough for two, (Y/n). It can be hard for someone not as familiar to sleep in the open.”
“Thanks Silver.”
You help the others pack up and begin on the trail once again
The question of the tent is playing on your mind as a coincidence or…something planned
Sebek made his dislike of you quite clear
but you didn’t think he’d take it that far
He also seemed to have calmed down staying near Lilia and looking away everytime you two made eye-contact
You brush it off instead attempting talk with Malleus
“So you’d like to speak with me? How brave. I see why Lilia chose you.”
Despite his weird Chunibyou complex that came up every now and then he was interesting to talk to
Offering his incite when it came to architecture and the like
He was fun to talk to
“(Y/n) how do you think of Lilia as a partner? Does he satisfy you?”
“That’s a little–”
“You do not have to answer, your hesitance speaks volumes.”
He seems to have the wrong impression on your relationship with Lilia
Often using this to segue into the various resources and riches his birth family had access to
Somehow he didn’t make it sound like he was bragging
but rather trying to sell you something
“I would like to offer my tent and sleeping bag for your convenience. It might be better to make Silver and his father sleep in the same bag. After all I’m sure it’s something they’re familiar with.”
“That’s quite the assumption but I remember hearing from you that you wanted to bond with Father.”
“You might have misheard.”
“Did I?”
“I–am not opposed to providing you shelter.”
“Really Sebek? Looking to make friends with my future fiance?”
The green haired boy was blushing and turning away as he loudly babbled something about getting wood
For the second night you let Malleus take your time with him, saying his only job was making sure Lilia did no such thing as cook
Apparently Sebek would have normally done this,
shooing Malleus away with a ‘MASTER MALLEUS IS MUCH BETTER THAN COOKING WITH HIS OWN PRECIOUS HANDS.’
But for whatever reason when Malleus mentioned him and you looked his way he rean away to grab more wood
Silver who looked as though he wanted to join rolled his eyes as he pretended to need Lilia’s help with setting up the camp
“You owe me Malleus…Father! Will you show me your expertise in preparing the campsite?”
“I thought I taught you this? Oh well I’ll teach you again! Listen closely whippersnapper.”
With him looking nowhere near the fire you and Malleus could organize the dinner they would be having
“I’m glad I brought some spices of my own. Here want a try?”
“That is spectacular! Not only are you good company but you are an excellent cook as well.”
“Well thank you!”
“I only speak the truth. Perhaps I feel regret for not meeting you first.”
You don’t know what to say to this…
Only brushing it off as he invites you on a stroll
Magically surrounded by fireflies he looks ethereal when he asks for your arm
You give it to him
It’s only his heritage which is why he’s so polite
Which is why he’s so much like a prince charming
Complimenting you and seeking you out
even as your eyelids grow heavy and yawing more frequent
“Like I said before I believe you will find the best rest in my tent. It is much bigger than the others.”
“Don’t be fooled (Y/n) he sleeps like a wild man. He’ll likely crush you before you can get to sleep.”
“I OFFER MY TENT, IF ONLY TO RELIEVE MASTER MALLEUS OF HIS SPACE HE’S SO GRACIOUS TO GIVE UP.”
“Oi oi you all seem to forget who’s partner they are!”
Hushing them all Lilia encourages them all to retreat to their tents
Grabbing your hand as he leads away from the campsite
“I’ve been waiting this whole trip to have you to myself.”
“Have you? I was worried you’d forgotten I came at all.”
“Please you’re the highlight of everyone’s trip so far.”
Letting him draw you close under the stars, you trust in your boyfriend to take care of you
Ending the night with you leaning on his chest, you let your eyes rest as you cuddle into him
Lilia looked happily down at your resting face
Not needing to look up at the woods behind to know who was watching him
“You can look on as much as you like. In the end it’s me they’ll always return to.”
Something about the way he said that made the one watching that much more determined to defeat him

A Christmas Wish
Tumblr media
Photos are not mine. They are courtesy of Pinterest/Google.
Pairing: Billy Russo x F! Reader
Warnings: Fluff, smooches, mentions of Billy’s shitty childhood and a couple of swear words.
Word Count: 2.1K-ish
Summary: You love decorating the Christmas tree but Billy doesn’t and he tries to put on a smile for you so you try to make it better by giving him a few special gifts.
A/N: Greetings and Happy 2025 to my lovely friends! Hope you are well and I apologize for being quiet lately. I’ve been sick and my entire week off from work was spent trying to recover from whatever lovely cold is going around.
I tried to put this out before Christmas but obviously that didn’t happen and I’ve also been a little bummed about friendly interaction, everyone seems to have disappeared but whatever, I digress.
Oh I’m also thinking about trimming down my tag list again just because I don’t feel like wasting anyone’s time if you’re not interested in reading my fics anymore. I dunno, I’m just feeling sorry for myself. I’m sure it will pass…
As always, thank you for reading!  I appreciate it so much and comments, reblogs are welcome and encouraged. Don’t be shy to tell me your favorite part. 💕💕 💕
Some of them were very delicate.
The ornaments were old, made from very thin glass and passed down to you by your parents, that they received from THEIR parents. There were a handful that said “Baby’s First Christmas” followed by your name written in beautiful script. A pink bulb that was stuffed with “angel hair” was one of your favorites. That’s what your dad used to tell you when you were little which you thought was a cute story.
Billy had taken the ornament tote out of storage so the two of you could decorate the tree together. Mostly, he just sat back and let you decorate the tree. He wasn’t particularly fond of this time of year or any holiday.
A brass ornament with a sleeping baby and the year you were born, a red bauble with your name written in silver glitter on the side, and a bone ornament with your childhood dog’s name on it were a few more of your favorites.
Each ornament had a story like who gave it to you and what year, and if there was a reason they picked that particular one. The dates ranged from the time you were born up until recent years. Some of them were handmade from when you were a child that your father thought you might like to have along with the one he gave you last year with a picture of you and Billy inside for your first Christmas together.
Trimmed to perfection, which was obviously Billy’s doing, the tree stood impressively in front of one of the large windows in the penthouse so it could be seen by others, looking out from the tops of their buildings. The warm white lights shined against the dark green needles, giving off an enticing invitation that made it so you couldn’t help but stare at it.
The branches were full and abundant with plenty of room for all of your ornaments as shades of red, green, and gold bounced off the delicate glow of the white lights.
This time of year brought back so many fond memories for you. Billy couldn’t say the same thing. Growing up without a family, this time of year was just a reminder of all the holidays he spent in the group home, alone.
He didn’t have any ornaments from childhood to hang on the tree.
“The decorations they put up just made me more depressed.” He had told you. “The old pathetic little fake tree, it was all bullshit, and it just made me hate her even more for leaving. They called the group home Ray of Hope but there was nothing hopeful about that place.”
He had a mother, she had been out there somewhere but she didn’t want him. She never did. That shattered your heart, twisted your stomach into knots, and left you wondering how a mother could do that to her own child.
The darkness that comes with the winter months is hard enough so you thought a tree would light up that darkness, make it colorful, and maybe brighten his day just a little bit.
Billy put the tree up for you, because you wanted it and because he loved to see you smile, even though the Christmas season didn’t bring him any happy memories like it did for you.
But you were determined to make it better, he deserved it and you loved him more than anything.
**********
If he had ever wanted to talk about it, Billy would be the first one to tell you that his childhood was shit but he worked hard to make sure children in need would have a better Christmas than he ever did so he helped out collecting Toys for Tots during this time of year.
So he had a lot of long December days where he wouldn’t get home until late.
The lights in the penthouse were dimmed to create a warm and cozy environment for when Billy came home. The presents you had for him were nicely wrapped and sitting on the large coffee table near the couch, you picked up his favorite cookies from the bakery, and had a glass of his favorite bourbon ready and waiting for him.
His keys jingled in the door handle as he walked through the door.
“Another late one, sweet girl. I’m sorry.” Said Billy.
He was always so apologetic when he worked late but you understood.
On cold nights like tonight, you loved to sit in the dark, a fire blazing in the fireplace, relax in comfortable clothes, with nothing but the Christmas tree lights on, and quietly look out at the city skyline. You had been enjoying a cup of hot chocolate and reading your book when Billy walked through the door.
He walked over to the couch to give you a quick kiss and then head to his office but you stopped him.
“Can you sit for a minute, handsome? Please?” You asked.
He desperately wanted to get more work done before really calling it a night plus he liked to find any excuse he could to not be near the Christmas tree.
“Can it wait, baby? I just wanna get a little work done.” He said, firmly.
Normally, you could wait a little while until he was finished but tonight was different, this was for him, and you just really wanted to give him something special.
But you decided to put your foot down.
“No…actually, it can’t wait, Billy.” You said.
Billy hated to disappoint you or make you angry with him so he sat down on the couch, next to you. He noticed the present as he took a sip of bourbon.
“Did you get an early present from someone at work or somethin’?” He asked.
Biting down on your lower lip, you shook your head and tried to keep from smiling. You were excited to give him his presents.
“It’s for you, Billy.” You said, softly.
Billy set his glass down, looked at you and then looked at the box.
“But Christmas isn’t for two weeks, sweet girl.” He said with a slight smile.
You replied, “I know…open it.”
The wrapping paper was all white and you had tied a perfect bow with royal blue ribbon. His long fingers carefully untied the ribbon and set it aside. Billy then tore into the wrapping paper, revealing a large white box. As he removed the top, he stared at the blue tissue paper inside for a minute before digging around for the gifts underneath.
Billy first pulled out his United States Marine Corps ornament. He read the saying on the back out loud for you.
“From the Halls of Montezuma
To the shores of Tripoli
We fight our country’s battles
In the air, on land, and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
Of United States Marines.”
Billy looked over at you and started to say, “Baby, this is…”
But you stopped him.
“There’s more, my love. Keep going.” You said, kissing him on the cheek.
He found his Christmas stocking next. It looked like yours except his was red to go along with your green one and his name was embroidered at the top, in the same font to match yours, and a hook to hang it from, over the fireplace. The final gift in the box was a plain red bulb ornament with his name written in silver glitter on it, just like the one you received as a child.
You wanted Billy to have ornaments that were his and his alone for him to hang on the tree. You hoped it would make this time of year a little happier for him.
“Sometimes I forget that this time of year isn’t pleasant for everyone. I was hoping to make it a little better for you, Billy. So I got you ornaments that are just for you.” You said.
He replied, holding the stocking and glitter ornament in his hand, “They’re just like yours.”
“I wish I could take away your bad memories, but I can’t. So I thought maybe if you had new memories…that, um…” You trailed off with a hitch in your voice.
Billy didn’t let you finish. He just leaned in and planted a soft kiss on your lips, the sweet taste of vanilla and a little spicy from the nutmeg on his from the sips of bourbon he had a few minutes ago, and the woodsy scent of his cologne floated past your nose as you kissed him back.
The warm white lights reflected in his onyx colored eyes and his smile traveled from the curl in his lip, up to the lines around his eyes. Billy didn’t have to say how he was feeling, you could see it in his eyes, see it in his smile, and you felt it in the way he kissed you.
“These are just…I don’t…thank you, sweet girl.” Said Billy.
He looked over at the tree for the first time since he arrived home and actually smiled. Billy finally had his own ornaments to hang on the Christmas tree and he looked excited about it.
“Go ahead, baby.” You said with a warm smile.
Billy rolled his shirt sleeves up to his elbows, loosened his tie, stood up while carefully holding his ornaments, walked over to the tree and pondered about where he should place them. You knew the perfectionist in him wanted to pick out the perfect spot for them.
He found your ornament with your name written in silver glitter and he placed his on the branch next to it. Billy then found a branch near the top for his Marines ornament that he needed the stepladder to reach and he hung his stocking on the opposite end of the fireplace from where yours was. He said he had to keep it “symmetrical” which made you chuckle. There’s that perfectionist trait hard at work again.
Billy actually looked content, finding places for his ornaments and hanging his stocking on the fireplace. He finally had the experience that he didn’t get to do when he was young.
Forced to grow up faster than he should have, Billy Russo’s childhood was stolen from him by the person that was supposed to protect him and love him but she didn’t. His mother left him and never looked back so it really wasn’t a mystery of why he didn’t trust anyone, why he never got close to anyone, or why he never had a long term relationship.
You were helping him work through some of that pain and building trust so he would never have to go through any of that hurt ever again.
As he sat down, you let your head gently fall against his chest as he kissed the top of your head. You felt your eyelids getting heavy and it was a relief to close them as you pulled your legs up onto the couch. His body was a warm cradle for yours.
“I love you.” Whispered Billy, kissing the top of your head again.
With your eyes closed still, you smiled and replied, “I love you too, Billy. I just want all your Christmas wishes to come true.”
“You’re all I’ve ever wanted, my love. My only wish is I wish I didn’t have to wait so long for you.” He said in barely more than a whisper.
Tears stung the back of your eyes as your heart began to race and your fingers started to tingle. All Billy had ever wanted was to be loved and something as simple as a Christmas ornament with his name on it, you knew he’d cherish it forever because it came from someone who showed him he deserved to be loved and he was worthy of affection.
You finally understood why Billy always kept you close, why he never let you wander too far from him, and why he had a hand on you at all times. Sometimes he held on a little too tight but it was because he didn’t want what he had to go away or be taken from him like it had all those years ago.
The little toy soldier that was attached to his keys was the first thing you ever gave him and he was constantly reaching into his pocket to make sure it was there. Just like the ornaments, the toy soldier might seem insignificant or small to anyone else, but to him, it was everything.
You gave him back some of the childhood that was taken from him and you will never forget the smile that stretched across his face.
Your parents always said that it was better to give than receive…and giving Billy a happy Christmas memory allowed you to finally experience what they had been talking about.
And they were absolutely right. Making Billy Russo smile really was the best feeling in the world.

stolen planets
this is a minor point of order, mostly unrelated to the stuff about the River that I'm trying to get to later, but it's an idea I've never seen anyone post about in their consideration of John's empire and agenda.
early on in AYU, while dwelling on her miserable slog through convalescence, Judith mentions overhearing an inscrutable bit of BOE slang:
The stomach pouch was removed on a previous excursion to what they said was an abandoned “steal planet.” I understand that they use the word “steal” for what we would term “shepherd.”
I say slang because why else would you use the present tense verb in place of a past-tense adjective here, if not as colloquialism? however, this slang appears nowhere in NTN, where we spend great chunks of time airing out BOE vernacular.
Reading between the lines a bit, we can easily guess what the BOE troops meant by "steal", because they spend the rest of the short story trying to get Judith connected to one:
The ship was a Gorgon-class vehicle... it was the last time they had tried to design a light craft that still had room for a stele. Blood of Eden must have captured or stolen one intact.
However, this is still an unusual way of speaking; we've never exactly heard of a "stele planet" before, and we know BOE had to get their stele from Mercymorn, as opposed to finding one in the corpse of a flipped planet.
Looking for 'plot holes' and errors in the continuity of a magic system is rarely productive, but if we comb back over HTN, AYU, and NTN, there appear to be some interesting inconsistencies in the presentation of stelae.
In HTN, John describes stele travel as vaguely dependent on obelisk infrastructure, forcing his Lyctors (who can travel freely) to lay down more of them - the reader is encouraged to that stelae are warp drives, and that obelisks define the regions a stele can transit between.
God said, “We came up with the stele instead, and the obelisk, which are less to do with travel than they are to do with transmission. But there will be times in your future when you will have to move unfettered by needing an obelisk, and even times yet to come when you will fulfil the sacred Lyctoral duty of setting obelisks...”
“Where we are going there are no obelisks for a stele to hook on to,” said the Emperor.
Certain asides in AYU and NTN double down on this interpretation, making references to "obelisk anchors", and establishing the need to locate an anchor at one's intended destination before embarking on stele travel:
Someone else said more clearly, How will we know where the anchor is? And the voice said, I’ve given you the blasted co-ordinates, haven’t I? It won’t be in the ship’s stellar registry, so you’ll have to do the input work yourself. And you must follow the route I’ve given you afterward.
“The Ziz isn’t Cohort standard. And it’s not as big on the inside as you think. Look at the windows—see how there’re none on the back end? It’s mostly engine. Not plated either. It’ll get to sublume without many problems … but it definitely doesn’t have room for a stele. Camilla is right. It can’t travel by obelisk anchor.”
However, AYU makes it clear that a stele also has a role to play as an anchor:
Under this duress I told them I understood how the stele worked but had no ability to use it myself... I said one necromancer alone would not be able to use it as an anchor and that it needed to be energised on a thanergenic planet, so it would never be of any use to them.
NTN even seems to flip-flop around, with people locating a stele to anchor onto, and using obelisks like an array of engines rather than to define one end in a point-to-point transition.
"The Warden convinced the Oversight Body, convinced the Sixth House to come with us. We showed them the secret of the installation. We helped them find a stele that would anchor such a big thanergy transition … which means, we helped them move."
"How’d you get it through a stele? With the weight of that thing, you’d never survive River displacement.” “Five hundred and thirty-two obelisks,” said Camilla.
Here's my tinfoil hat for you: if a stele and an obelisk both have similar roles to play in FTL travel - as suggested by their both being named after words for monuments - then the obelisk should have a similar necromantic nature. They may both be similar names for the same thing, or two different versions of the same thing, at least.
If nothing else, given that they're clearly both "anchors" rooted in Fifth House spirit magic, obelisks and stelae must have similar demands for upkeep and maintenance. And how can a Lyctor possibly set up such an obelisk out in space?
We know that each anchor relies on great quantities of freshly oxygenated and thanergy-enriched blood - that is, each anchor is sustained by a thanergenic fluid still flush with thalergy, per Pyrrha's comments to the effect that blood wards are more thalergy-rich than bone wards. Such anchors also have to be charged with power from thanergy-rich planets.
Mercymorn was able to produce an automatic oxygenation unit via the use of flesh magic, but blood cells need external organs to stay alive. For purposes of sustaining a very large anchor with life and death, a simpler option might be to make your runes with very wide chisel cuts or specially treated surfaces, so that they can't be blotted out by debris, and then leave them in a liquid ecosystem. Place them at the bottom of a water basin teeming with microorganisms, and then allow the micro-ecology to start dying off in the same thanergenic background radiation that you're using to charge up the anchor monument.
For example, by carving into the seabed under the salt-water ocean of a dying planet - a stele planet.

Always Somewhere
Sooooo, this one isn't my usual Harvey Specter fic. I've known F1 for ages (my fiance is a diehard petrolhead and an F1 huge fan, so I've heard about it here and there). But with all the media coverage, I've been exposed to the world of F1 more than usual lately. And I've had this idea in my mind for a couple of weeks now, so why not post about it?
This is definitely going to be a mini-series. Forgive any errors in my writing. I hope you guys enjoy this!

DECEMBER 2021
It was a little over 9 pm when Max made the urgent call to Charles. Being alone in his apartment, Charles told him to come to his place. He wouldn’t say that Max was his best friend, but they always had that chemistry going on between them, also the urgency in Max’s voice, Charles couldn’t lie that he got quite worried. Even when his nickname was Mad Max, he never really let his emotions get the best of him outside of the racing world. Charles always saw him as a very poised man, against all odds.
The ding to Charles’ apartment startled him. When he opened the door for Max, he was surprised. Max looked... disheveled. The black circle under his eyes, the unshaved stubble. Max smiled weakly as he raised a bottle of wine. Max sat quietly on the couch as Charles disappeared with the wine bottle. He carried two glasses of wine and managed to also hold the bottle in his right hand. As Charles sat across from him, Max sighed. That deep long sigh that was laden with something heavy. It was silent for a couple of seconds before Charles broke the silence. “Are you okay?” Max didn’t look at him right away; his gaze fell upon the white fuzzy carpet under the table, then to the stacks of magazines on the table, to the wine glasses, to the withering flowers in the vase. Everywhere but Charles’ eyes. Max sighed again, and what after felt like an eternity, finally he met Charles’ gaze. “I feel like total shit,” Charles commented with a small laugh. “No shit.” Max snickered at Charles’ response. Max also felt the same way about their friendship. But Max knew Charles understood. Not to mention they live only a few minutes drive away. Desperate times called for desperate measures, Max thought. “I couldn’t sleep. When I slept, it was full of nightmares,” Max paused, Charles nodded and encouraged him to continue. “The burden of everything...” he trailed off; both his hands found their way to his face, and he groaned. Charles looked at him with full sympathy. He put a gentle hand on Max’s shoulder. “I’m sorry, I can’t help much. But you know, if you are open to suggestions,” Charles threaded carefully as Max looked at him. “I know a therapist, a psychologist; she can help. She’s like the best one I know.” Again, Charles looked at him carefully. Afraid that Max took it as an offense at the prospect that he needed professional help. “You are seeing this psychologist?” Charles shook his head. “No. But I’ve known her since I was a kid.”
So that night, Max saved the number of said psychologist, just in case he wanted to go see her. The rest of the night went smoothly, transforming the depressing topic into a lighter one. Max laid on his sofa, Sassy sprawled across his chest. His finger hovered over the number he had just saved the previous few nights. Max won’t even deny it. There was some pride in him that he just couldn’t admit that he needed to talk. Of all the things he could do, he needed to talk. Just talk. But the past few nights had been horrible. “Fuck it,” he mumbled to the empty house as he pressed the number. A chirpy voice in French greeted him, and he awkwardly chuckled before saying that his fluency still needed some finesse to it. “Yes, I would like to set an appointment.” Max waited, sat straight up now. It was nerve-wracking, he thought. He listened (not so) patiently and nodded, “Just as soon as I can.” The chirpy voice came to a halt once again: “Okay, Mr. Verstappen. I can schedule you today at 6 pm. Would that be okay?”
It was 5.45 pm when Max arrived at the building. He sat there in his car, in complete silence. He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel. He could just say he suddenly got sick and bailed out of it. Max was not one to pour his heart out. He sighed as he rubbed his eyes. He closed his eyes and leaned back. He took a steady breath. He needed this. He needed to get better for the upcoming season.
As he waited for the elevator to go up, he couldn’t help but marvel at the lavishness of the building. This psychologist must have made a lot to be able to rent a place like this. As the elevator came to a halt, Max took some cautious steps. He again was greeted by the same chirpy voice he heard on the phone just a few hours before. “Good evening, Mr. Verstappen.” She was greeted with a warm smile. Max stopped at the reception table and nodded his greeting. “Mr. Verstappen, there are some forms that need to be filled just before you proceed with your evening here,” she handed him a transparent clipboard and a pen.
Max then entered the psychologist's room. He pushed the heavy door and was greeted with a woody smell. The room was big with a ceiling-to-floor glass window overlooking the dark Mediterranean Sea. A woman, he bet wasn’t even older than him, turned to him as she heard the door being pushed open. She was beautiful, Max admitted. Not models kind of beautiful but like normal kind of beautiful. Her hair was long and wavy. She dressed in a tan sweater and navy pencil skirt just shy around her knees. Her high heels clacked over the marble floor as she approached Max. “You must be Max Verstappen; it's a pleasure to meet you,” she offered her hand and smiled at him. Her name dripped out of her mouth like honey. “You can call me Max.” Max sat down on the single-seater leather sofa just across from her. “Okay, Max. So how are you today?”
To his surprise, the conversation went smoothly. He didn’t feel like he was under the scrutiny or anything. He talked about his father, the burden of this year’s WDC, the nightmares, and the feeling that he had never done anything good enough. Everything. Before he knew it, their session was over. Max held himself from whining when she informed her that they had finished their session. “You should think about our conversation,” she said, looking at him thoughtfully, legs crossed. Max mused, deep in thought, then nodded. “We can continue this next week, yes?” She smiled at him before writing something down in her notebook. “Next week? That’s like so long,” Max's brows knitted. She laughed, and he found himself smiling at the sound. “You need to think about what we talked about today, Max. And not that I discredited your ability to think about it, but this type of thing takes time. Okay?”
FEBRUARY 2022
What Max only planned as one session turned into 5, and 5 turned into 20. It wasn’t always face-to-face sessions. Sometimes Max needed out of the country multiple times, so they continued via video calls. Sometimes, Max asked for more than one meeting per week. And she obliged as she deemed necessary. But on this 20th meeting, they met again in her office. After an hour passed, she put down her glasses on the side table. “Max, it is with great joy that I inform you that this is your last session with me,” she smiled brightly at him. Max was flabbergasted, to say the least. “What do you mean the last? I still need you." She smiled at him, full of understanding. “Max, let me ask you something. Say that you go see a doctor for a headache; the doctor prescribed you some ibuprofen. Upon deeper investigation, it happened that you have poor sleep hygiene, and you never ate on time. That is what caused you persistent headaches. While fixing your sleeping and eating schedule, you keep taking ibuprofen. But once you can maintain a good sleeping and eating schedule, the headaches vanish. Do you think you would still need to take the ibuprofen?” Max slowly shook his head. “Why?” she asked again. “Because the core of the problem is handled.” He answered but his voice was smaller than usual. “Exactly,” she smiled and watched him. “You don’t look happy,” she observed. “How if I can’t do it without you?” she gave him a warm smile and a gentle, brief squeeze on his hand. “It’s you that has been doing it all this time, Max. Not me. You did it all just before the season started. Wasn’t that your goal? You should be proud of yourself as much as I you.” Max nodded at her answer, feeling defeated. “You should be glad. Cheer up, Max! You don’t have to keep paying me now,” she tried to lighten up the situation with a joke. Max chuckled, “Money is not the problem.” She looked deep into his eyes. “I know.” They stayed like that for a couple of seconds until an idea crossed Max’s mind. “But we can be friends, right? You’re friends with Charles, and I’m also friends with Charles.” He looked at her, eyes full of hope. “We can’t be involved in any relationship at least until 2 years from today,” Max’s jaw dropped. “Said who?” he quipped. “Said the code of ethics,” she chuckled. “I’m also moving to Cambridge; I’m taking my doctorate.” She blushed as she shared the information; she was never really one to share with her client, even on the last termination session. Max beamed over the news, “Oh, I’m so glad to hear that! I hope England will treat you well.”
As Max waited for the elevator to bring him down, he realized he wasn’t that thrilled about the news that she was going to continue her doctorate, nor at the news that they couldn’t be in any relationship for the next 2 years. Something tugged at his heart. He was going to miss her.

Hi Mae!! I wanted to request a story where doctor!Remus and you are dating. You're out with James and Sirius whilst he's at work and you pass out/are sick/whatever you think fits the story and they freak out and take you to the hospital, where Remus sees you and loses his mind. He takes care of you and the guys are there for moral support. Also, reader is afraid of doctors in general but specially needles so putting that IV on is a hassle in itself hehe.
Thanks in advance!!!!
Hi, thanks for requesting!
cw: fear of hospitals and needles, somewhat angsty, mention of vomit (in the past tense, if that helps), this was sort of weird to write because I don't usually write reader arguing with their love interest like this but I hope it came out okay
doctor!Remus x fem!reader ♡ 1.3k words
You’re alerted to Remus’ arrival by Sirius’ shrill voice.
“Finally! I’ve been texting you.”
“We’re not really encouraged to be checking our phones during busy shifts,” says Remus. He sounds sharp and tired, and you look up from where your head rests on James’ shoulder just as he comes to a stop in front of your chair. A creased brow and gentle hands feeling at your forehead. “Hi, darling. Seems like that flu’s gotten a bit worse, hm?”
“You told us to check in on her,” Sirius goes on, “and we did, and we found her basically in a puddle of her own sick.”
“She’d been sick in the toilet, and then fell asleep on the bathmat,” James clarifies. “But she seemed really very ill.”
“Let’s go back,” Remus slides an arm around your waist, hoisting you up against his side and helping you walk towards the double doors that lead out of the waiting area. “What was her temp at when you found her?”
“We don’t know.” Sirius trails behind, exasperated. “We couldn’t figure out where you kept your thermometer, and she was hardly in a state to say.”
Remus makes a worried humming sound. “How are you feeling, dovey?”
“Tired,” you sigh, hoping you’re not leaning too hard against him but having a difficult time recalling what walking normally feels like, “‘nd my head hurts.”
“She seems a bit better than when we first found her,” James says. You think you detect some worry in his tone as well. “She was just waking up then, and Sirius got her to drink some water in the car.”
“Doesn’t sound like you’ve been taking very good care of yourself,” Remus murmurs, just for you. He kisses your head. “Poor love, I knew I shouldn’t have come to work today.”
“M’alright,” you say, letting him help you onto a small cot in a curtained-off room. Sirius and James file in behind you, and Remus shuts the curtain once they’re inside.
You look at him, and your surroundings, the machines and tools and the overwhelming harshness of it all, start to sink in for you.
“Can you take me home?”
Remus’ expression is gentle. “Not yet, sweetheart. You should be feeling much better once I do, though, yeah?” He brushes a piece of hair away from your face, encouraging you to lie back on the pillow. “Would one of you want to hop up here with her?” he asks the other boys, then to you: “You don’t mind sharing your bed, do you?”
“No,” you say, somewhat bemusedly. Sirius grins at you, climbing over you to lie down by your side.
“Thanks. I’m just gonna get your vitals now, dove.”
You feel a bit silly, but your nerves worsen as Remus checks you over, sticking plasticy things in your ear and cold metal on your back and making his various concerned faces. He must notice something when he takes your pulse, because he thumbs over the skin of your forearm comfortingly. Sirius, noticing, works an arm under your shoulders and pulls you close to his side.
“Alright,” Remus says in what you recognize to be his most soothing voice, “look at Sirius for me, please.”
You, of course, look in the opposite direction of where he wants you, and he’s taking your arm, pushing up your sleeve.
“Remus.” Betrayal sounds in your voice as you pull away from him, holding your arm close to your side.
He sighs. “You need fluids and medicine to get better. You want to go home, yeah?”
“I don’t want an IV,” you say in a tight voice.
Remus softens. He rubs your leg through your pajama pants. “I know, babydove, but you need to have one. I’ll get it over with as quickly as I can.”
“I had to have one last summer, when I got dehydrated,” James pipes up. He’s stolen a small stool likely meant for the doctor and is swiveling back and forth restlessly. “It wasn’t as bad as you might think. I hardly remembered it was there most of the time.”
“I just don’t want to,” you say again, voice going quiet and frail. Your vision starts to blur.
“Take a deep breath,” Remus coaches in that lulling voice. It’s half working, a familiar sort of comfort wrapping like a blanket around your frazzled nerves. You feel torn between your trust in your boyfriend and your absolute terror of everything that happens in a hospital. “You’re alright, yeah? This is the last thing you have to do for me. After, you can rest or have a nap, and when you’re well enough you can go home, okay? I might even be able to go with you.”
You shake your head wordlessly, feeling ridiculous and childish but altogether petrified as you wipe tears from underneath your eyes.
“Oh, sweetheart.” His brows pinch, and he leans over, kissing your temple. “You’ll be okay, I promise. Look over at Sirius, yeah?”
You cry but don’t resist as Sirius uses the arm around your shoulders to turn your face away, feeling Remus take your arm in his grasp. His fingers press gently into the crook of your elbow.
“Hey, it’s okay,” Sirius says quietly. He touches his lips to your forehead. “You’ve got this, babe, it’ll be over before you know it.”
Remus is obviously doing his best to make good on this promise. He ties the tourniquet quickly, and something cold and wet swipes over your skin. The bite of the needle doesn’t come as a surprise, but you take in a tiny, petrified breath anyway. It rasps wetly in your throat.
“You’re alright,” Remus murmurs, undoing the tourniquet as he speaks. “You’re doing so well, almost done now.”
You’re not in pain, necessarily, but the sensation of a foreign object in your arm is distinctly unsettling, and Sirius makes a soft sound of distress when your weeping worsens. None of this is helping your headache, either. Your sinuses throb.
“There.” You hear tape ripping, and then Remus is pressing it carefully over the spot in your arm. “There, done.”
Sirius lets go of your face. The moment you turn around Remus’ is on you, brushing away your tears and kissing your hairline apologetically.
“That’s it, darling, you can relax now. You did so well. Do you feel alright?”
“He means are you cross with him,” James translates helpfully.
Remus gives his friend an exasperated look, but his smile is sheepish. “That too, I suppose.”
“Honestly?” Your voice is pitchy. It scratches against your flu-torn throat. “A little, but not really. I’ll get past it.”
Remus gives a little laugh. “Oh, my love.” He bends forward, wrapping you up in a hug. “Thank you. I can live with that.” He holds the back of your head, rubbing between your shoulder blades firmly. When he lets you go, it’s with a kiss to your brow. “Sirius, get out of her bed. She needs to rest.”
“Excuse me?” Sirius is affronted. “I think I’ve just proven I make an excellent pillow. And where am I supposed to sit? James has taken the only stool.”
“He can stay,” you tell Remus.
“Thank you, gorgeous. See? Jamie, come over here so we can watch a film on your phone.”
Remus rolls his eyes, stepping aside to let James scoot by on his stool. “Fine, but try to get some actual sleep. I want your temperature down when I come back to check on you, yeah?”
“You’re the doctor,” Sirius points out, getting cozy on his side of the bed as you and James scroll through films. “What’s she supposed to do, will it down? Sod off.”
Remus heaves a long-suffering sigh, pulling off his gloves and dropping them in the trash can. “So glad you’re here.”
“And where would your girl be if we weren’t, Rem?” asks James, looking up from his phone to raise his brows. “She’s lucky to have us.”
Remus rolls his eyes, leaving the room. “Aren’t we all.”

Brrrrr...
The sound of the whistle rings through the air as the sprinters swim towards the ball dropped at mid-pool.
It was overtime in the Big 10 Women’s Water Polo Championship game. The next goal scored would win the conference and secure you a spot at state.
This would be the first time in school history that Iowa’s team has ever won a conference title. You had promised your coach that you would bring a championship to this team back when you were a freshman. Obviously, it was said as a joke considering you weren’t the greatest swimmer back then.
You went into your senior year of high school barely learning about the existence of the sport, looking to get extra conditioning in before basketball season that year. Also, just interested in learning a new sport in general. Your friend, who was on the swim team, encouraged you to join so you guys could spend more time together. She taught you how to swim and you caught on quick. Since it was a very young team, you earned yourself a starting spot, soon falling in love with the game. With some help from the coaches and putting together a highlight tape, you caught the eye of Iowa's head coach, who offered you a spot not too long after.
Iowa's polo team was very new and they wanted to build. You were perfect for the team: a fast learner who was passionate and competitive in everything you did.
You didn’t take it right away, hoping an offer for basketball would be coming soon, but to be honest, it was either water polo for Iowa or the JUCO route for basketball.
After thinking about how quickly you fell in love with the sport, you couldn’t turn the offer down.
A freshman who couldn’t tread water properly to four years later being in the last minutes of a conference title game.
Your friend, Jade, had possession of the ball and passed it back to the goalie. You swam to the top of the pool and got the ball passed into you.
You were immediately fouled and the whistle was blown for the defender to back away. You knew that if you got the ball stolen it was an easy 1-on-1 against your goalie.
This defender had been on your ass all game. She had gotten away with drowning and kicking you the entire time.
Your teammates were all being face-guarded so you had no choice but to get around her yourself. You took a mental note of the shot clock before turning her and swimming straight down the middle of the pool, dribbling towards the goal.
“YOU, YOU. YOU.” You heard your coach scream as you had a clear path to the goal.
The crowd erupted at the move as you got on your hips and motioned to pass the ball to your teammate, Keira. The defender jumped towards her and you faked the ball and turned to aim straight at the corner of the goal. As you rose out of the water to take the shot, you felt a hand tug on your shoulder, you felt and immediate tearing pain You yelped in pain as you dropped the ball and immediately went underwater.
You didn’t think about swimming up, gripping onto your shoulder in pain. You can’t remember much after that when the last things you felt was a player’s foot hit your head as you lost consciousness.
…..
“What happened to her?” a voice asked softly as you stirred awake.
“She got shaken up pretty badly at the polo game,” you recognized the voice of your athletic trainer as you looked to see who she was talking to.
“I think she’s awake,” the girl said.
“Go get her some more ice, please,” the trainer said before turning to you and immediately asking you how you are feeling.
“Try not to move too fast. How’s your head feeling?”
“Did we win?” you asked, wondering how the game ended.
“Y/N, that’s not important right now. How’s your…”
“My head is fine. Did we win?”
“No, the game’s still going on but you need to…” You moved immediately, ready to leave the room and head back to the pool deck.
She puts her arms in front to stop you and you look back at her in confusion. This was the championship game; how could you not be out there?
“You can’t leave. You really need to stay sitting down; you hit your head pretty hard. It’s not good for you to be up right now.”
“Please, I have to see the end of it. This could be my last game,” you pleaded.
“I can go out there and get you an update, but you need to stay here. Deal?”
You nodded with a little attitude behind it, closing your eyes and leaning your head back.
"Also, I was kicked; I didn’t just 'hit my head,'" you stated.
“Drop the attitude, kid. Kate’s bringing you ice. Safety first, always,” she said before walking out.
You relaxed a little, understanding that she was just trying to help. You’ve grown really close to Regina. She's 100% your favorite trainer and she’s learned how to manage your stubbornness.
“Here, this should help," Kate said, her voice soft but firm.
"Thanks," you replied, pressing the ice to your shoulder. You glanced up, meeting Kate's gaze.
It didn’t fully register with you that this was Kate Martin. If you were in any other state you would be freaking out.
Kate hesitated, then sat down on the chair next to you. "Do you need anything else?"
"No, this is good," you said, then added nervously, "What about you? Aren't you busy with practice?"
Kate shrugged. "Practice just ended. I was supposed to ice and heat, but I guess I got roped into being your ice delivery."
You laughed softly, wincing slightly from the pain. "Well, thanks for the delivery. I owe you one."
Kate smiled, a bit shyly. "It's no problem. I’m just glad to help."
An awkward silence settled between you. Both girls fidgeted, neither sure what to say next. Finally, you broke the silence. "So, you play basketball, right? I’ve seen you on the court. You're really good."
"Yeah, thanks. I’ve seen you play a little too. You’re amazing out there," Kate responded, her cheeks turning a light shade of pink.
"Really? Thanks," you said, your heart beating a little faster. It didn’t make any sense to you that she knew who you were. "This is my last season, so I’m trying to make it count."
"I understand. It's my senior year too," Kate said, her voice tinged with a mix of pride and nostalgia. "It's a lot of pressure."
"Yeah," you agreed, nodding slightly. "But it's also exciting, right? Knowing you’re giving it your all."
Kate looked at you, admiration in her eyes. "Absolutely. And it looks like you were doing just that before... well, you know.”
You chuckled, despite the pain. "Yeah, that defender really did a number on me. i can’t stand her”
Kate's expression softened. "I'm sorry that happened. I hope you’ll be okay for the next game."
"Me too," you said, trying to stay positive. "If there even is one."
As if on cue, the door opened, and Regina walked in. She glanced at both of you, then at you.
"I’ve got an update," she said.
"You’re not cleared to go back in. I’m sorry."
“No shit” you thought. You didn’t expect to go back in, obviously; you were knocked unconscious. It’s honestly a miracle you aren’t in the hospital right now.
"But," she said, her voice filled with excitement, "You won! You’re a Big Ten champ, kid!"
Your eyes widened in disbelief, a rush of joy flooding through you despite the pain. You turned to Kate, a radiant smile lighting up your face.
"We won?" you exclaimed, unable to contain your excitement.
Kate's own smile mirrored yours. "That's amazing! Congratulations, Y/N!"
The trainer nodded, her grin widening.
You and Kate shared a moment of shared jubilation, your eyes sparkling with pride and happiness.
Soon your team came flooding into the room with their Big Ten champ hats on.
You hadn’t noticed you were holding onto Kate’s hand until she pulled away.
“Congrats again, I’ll be at the next game for sure," she said before walking away. A small blush formed on your face as you watched her walk away with a smile.
You were pulled out of your thoughts when Jade pulled you into a hug.
“CAREFUL, SHE'S FRAGILE RIGHT NOW,” Regina scolded.

tags: loser!ellie, theatre kid!dina agenda, modern au sorta?, i suck at tagging a year later, ellie is a nervous wreck, italics indicate internal monologue (most of the time), fluff(?), one small use of y/n, okay that’s it i think
Ellie might’ve had a little thing for you — probably more than just a little thing, because you’d occupy most of the space in her brain 99% of the time. And she was, unceremoniously, an incredibly big loser. She never speaks to you directly, instead stealing glances at you during passing periods or watching you from afar whenever you’d been hanging out with your other friends.
The hallways always seemed to be cramped and crowded, but not crowded enough that she couldn’t see you. Something about you made her always recognize it was you.
Standing at her locker, she’d been joined by Dina as she’d been grabbing some things from her backpack. The hallways were bustling with chatter and bodies, but it seemed to only be them right now.
Dina looks at Ellie as her locker shuts with a small smirk. “I saw you staring at her again.” She teases. “You’ve got it bad!” Dina pokes her softly. She sings a cheesy love song, to which Ellie groans and puts a hand on her forehead. “You’re gonna make me die of embarrassment.” She mumbles.
Dina laughs at her, putting an arm over her shoulders. “Look at you, all grown up and having a little crush.” She says theatrically, wiping fake tears. Ellie chuckles to herself as she looks down at her canvas sneakers.
“Yknow, I could introduce you to her.” Dina mentions without much thought. If Ellie had water in her mouth, she would’ve spit it out dramatically. She stands as stiff as a board as she turns to look at Dina. “Really? I mean — you’re serious? Like 100%?” Ellie seemed excited, but god was she nervous at the thought.
“Yeah, totally! You can sprinkle your little loser dust on her in hopes that you absolutely woo her.” Dina throws her head back dramatically with the back of her hand on her forehead. The pair chuckle slightly at Dina’s antics.
Ellie still couldn’t believe that Dina knew her. Like, a majorly pretty girl? “Pinch me.” Ellie says, clearly in some state of disbelief. “I think I’m dreaming.” Dina pinches her on the cheek and she smiles. “You’re awake, Ellie! It’s me — Dina in the flesh!” Dina smiles at her.
“Dina, I’ve been like, dreaming of this since school started. I will come to your house later. Just please don’t be lying about this.” Ellie did dream about you a lot, and she always wished she didn’t wake up before the good parts. But she always did, so she woke up sulking all morning.
Even when the passing period had ended, she couldn’t stop creating scenarios about the two of you in her head. Well, the two of you and Dina. Cause she’d be there too. Ellie would feel bad to leave her out.
She knew that this was super cliche but she liked how cliche it was in some odd way.
She was staring out of a window with her earphone in, tapping her gnawed up pencil against a wooden desk as she listened to songs that reminded her of you.
Which was, obviously, most of the music she’d ever listen to now because she was just that in love with you. She had it bad. Super bad. Actually, no word could describe it.
Once she started dreaming about you, she knew she was doomed. Even more so now that she’ll actually talk to you.
The anxiety of meeting a pretty girl like you sets in. What if she thinks I’m too weird? But she’s friends with Dina.. maybe it’ll be okay. This is so stupid. God, just focus on her! Her internal monologue was a flurry of ‘you got this’ and ‘don’t be a total loser’.
All of that literally goes out the window the second she makes it to Dina’s house.
As usual, Dina’s home was cluttered but homey, and the walls were covered with Dina in various grades performing in school musicals. Ride The Cyclone, Heathers, all that kinda stuff that she has little to no knowledge of.
“She’s waiting in my room — and stand up straight or something. Body language is important.” Dina says, leading her up the creaky stairs. Ellie almost didn’t hear what Dina was saying as they got closer to her room.
She’s in there! Right there! She thought, a smile creeping onto her face. The door of Dina’s room swings open and there you were, sitting on the edge of her bed.
“This is who I was telling you about! Y/N, this is Ellie. Ellie, Y/N.” Dina smiles at both of you brightly. “Hi!” Ellie blurts out, her voice cracking slightly. She instantly feels embarrassed and clears her throat. “Hello. How are you?” She attempts to reapproach the conversation, but when she saw that you’d been already chuckling and smiling, all her affirmations were lost to her.
“I’m fine. And you?” You asked, smiling at her. “I’m.. I’m good. Totally chilling right now, yeah.” Ellie rambles nervously.
She kinda just stands there awkwardly until she thinks about another question. “How’d you uh, meet Dina?” She asks, rocking back and forth awkwardly on her heels. “We’re in the same theater class. And you,”
You point at her. “You’ve known her since like, forever, right?” She says to Dina, eliciting a soft hum from the girl. You smile at Dina. “I’ll leave you two alone for a while.”
Upon hearing that, Ellie snaps her head around to look at Dina. Her eyes scream “don’t leave me here”. Dina smiles remorsefully before leaving the room.
So now it was just Ellie and you. Staring at eachother while birds chirped softly in the distance. Ellie smiles awkwardly. You chuckle at her. “Are you usually this nervous?” You ask, tilting your head to the side slightly.
“..Yes, but not really?” Ellie would never in a million years admit the big fat crush she had on you, not now that you were sitting infront of her. “Well, I’m not gonna like, eat you or anything. You don’t have to be so nervous.”
“That’s easier said than done when you’re that pretty.” Ellie mumbled to herself. “What was that you said? You think I’m pretty?” You ask, smiling brightly. When she realizes you’d heard that part, she becomes incredibly flustered. She smashes her face into the palms of her hands as her cheeks become flushed.
“I’m truly flattered! It means a lot coming from another pretty girl.” Ellie stood breathing for a moment. She thinks I’m pretty? She thinks I’m pretty?! She truly wants to jump for joy but she doesn’t. Instead she just stares at you.
Once you stand up and start walking towards her, she gets even more nervous because you smell like heaven. “I think we should get to know eachother more.” You suggest as you look at her. “I’ll give you my number.”
“Your number?” She blurts, excitement underlying her tone. “Yeah! It’s no biggie.” You say as you reach for your phone that was previously on the charger.
When you both eventually exchanged numbers, Ellie was staring at your contact in awe. Maybe you were talking to her but she was in her own little world.
She’d finally done it — talked to the girl she’d had a crush on literally all year. And somehow pulled it off enough to get her number.
Has Ellie wooed you? She didn’t know. Were you definitely looking forward to talking to her? Hell yeah you were.
“So I guess I’ll talk to you very soon then?” You raise an eyebrow at her with a smile on your face. Very soon? That could mean tonight! “Yeah, yeah totally. Call me whenever. I’m always free, yknow, never busy.” Ellie said, forming an awkward smile.
I basically just told her I have no hobbies or many friends! How charming is that? Way to go, Ellie. She internally cringes at herself. “Good to know. Bye Ellie.” You wave at her before leaving Dina’s room.
The door shuts and Dina runs up the stairs. “Oh she’s definitely into you.” She exclaims, holding Ellie’s hands. “I’m proud of you for putting your big girl pants on.” Ellie looks at Dina with a stupid smile. “She’s into me.” She mumbled with a starstruck expression. “She’s into me!” She repeats, smiling. I really hope that’s true. She thinks excitedly, squeezing Dina’s hands while looking at her.

𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐇𝐈𝐌.
Dick Grayson x Spider-Man Reader
AKA; one of my favorite tropes ever.
CONTAINS !!! masculine reader (only cuz they go by Spider-Man, but I kept gender/pronouns vague), LGBT reader (also kept vague), mentions of stitches, the slightest hint of bisexual Dick, could be translated as a platonic or a pre-slash relationship, and they were roommates.
Tumblr media
“Uh… hey.”
Pausing mid-stitch, Dick looked up at his doorway to see you standing there, your hands shoved into the pockets of your jacket. There was the slightest worried quirk to your brows, your mouth formed into a thin line, and your eyes constantly glanced down the hall like you were planning an escape route. It didn’t take his natural intuition to tell you were troubled by something. Hell, maybe even anxious.
“Hey,” he softly returned, his suturing needle still motionless in his hand. He made sure he was fully facing you, giving you all of his undivided attention as he added, “what’s up?”
“… I… uh.” You gingerly pulled a hand from your pocket to scratch your neck. “I was wondering if you had some time to… talk?”
Talk? Trying not to show his concern, he gave a reassuring smile and scooted over on his bed. “Yeah, sure, of course.” His gaze was back down on his partly stitched-up arm. “Lemme just finish up real quick. You can come in.”
As he quickly got to work with closing up the wound, he could see from the corner of his eye that you hesitated for a moment. Something was clearly weighing on your mind, and the clearer your distress was, the more suspicious he became on what this talk was going to be about. He had a pretty sure guess; relief washed over his conscious just thinking about it. This wasn’t going to be a serious talk. Well, it was, but not in a bad way. Rather, he was at least 99.99% sure it was a seriously good thing. Something to celebrate, even.
You were finally coming out to him.
Admittedly, he’s had his suspicions for a while. He’s known you for a while, enough to trust you with his secret as Nightwing, so he’s picked up on the subtleties you’ve left for him, whether you were aware of it at the time or not. But it was all just speculation until you moved in as his roommate, where he could basically observe you under a microscope 24/7. And when you suddenly became more withdrawn from him, he was vehemently convinced he was right.
Now, despite being pretty sure he’s known before you even knew, he never asked you outright. It’d make him feel terrible if you felt pressured to come out of the closet before you were ready, so he gladly gave you all the time you needed to tell him directly. And of course this didn’t go without dropping subtle hints that he loves you and supports you through all your endeavors.
The bed dipped as you finally sat down on it, just in time for him to tie off his stitch. “So,” he began, trying to keep the knowingness out of his tone, “what did you wanna talk about?”
You didn’t say answer immediately. Rather, you took to staring at his bedroom carpet for a few moments, presumably getting your thoughts organized. “I… need to tell you something.”
Oh, he’s definitely right about this. “Okay…?”
Another moment of silence happened between you two. “… I’ve been keeping this secret for… for a while. And I thought you’d be mad at first, cuz I never told you, cuz I-I was kinda scared, and… well…” you softly shook your head, like you were shaking away an oncoming tangent. “Well, I guess I realized… that… I shouldn’t have been. I shouldn’t have been scared.”
He couldn’t help but put a comforting hand on your shoulder. “(Y/N)…”
“Promise me things won’t change,” you softly pleaded. It was then you finally looked up at him with an apprehension. “Promise things won’t be… different… between us… please?”
“I promise,” Dick confirmed, voice dripping with pure sincerity and encouragement. “(Y/N), things would never be different between us. Not because of something like this. I care for you. And I always will.”
There were several seconds where you scanned his face, trying to find an inkling of a lie. After realizing he was being serious, you took a deep, shuddery breath. “Dick…”
He then watched as you brought a shaky hand up to the zipper of your jacket.
… Woah, woah, woah, wait a minute.
Before he could even process what you could possibly be doing, you pulled open your now unzipped jacket and turned to face him. All he could do was stare dumbly at your scrunched-up grimace as you finally dropped the bombshell.
“… I’m Spider-Man.”
… Huh?
Slowly, his eyes braved the trip downwards to your chest, only to be met by an all-too infamous spider symbol. Oh… Spider-Man. You’re Spider-Man. This was not the coming-out talk he was expecting. At all. Any coherent thought he previously had was thrown out the window in favor of processing… this. You’ve been Spider-Man this entire time and he had no fucking clue? What the hell? How did he just… not pick up on this? Was this why you became so withdrawn? You felt like you had to hide this secret from him of all people? Your own vigilante roommate?
… Ironically, these were probably the same questions he’d have if you actually were coming out to him… in a world where he didn’t already figure it out, anyway.
“… Oh,” was all he could say. He owlishly blinked at the insignia on your chest before looking back up at you. “Wow. Uh… okay. Holy shit, uh…” he ran a hand through his hair, trying to recompose himself. He had this whole spiel prepared about how he more than happily accepts you for who you are, but it became quite apparent he has to make some adjustments on the fly. “You’re Spider-Man. Cool. I… I had no idea.”
You cracked an eye open, cautiously gaging his reaction. “You’re not… mad?”
“Well, I… can’t say I’m not shocked.” He sent a quick glance at the spider symbol. “I mean… I kinda pride myself on my detective skills, so… I guess I’m a little thrown off for not suspecting anything.” His jaw tightened a bit. “You really went above and beyond to hide this from me.”
“I-I know it’s kinda stupid, but… I mean…” you rubbed the back of your neck. “I don’t know, I thought you’d be mad that I didn’t come to you initially after the spider bite.”
He could only stare at you with a blank expression. “A spider bit you?”
“Uh… long story.”
“… Well, then.” He laid back on his bed, resting his hands behind his head as he stared at his ceiling. “Spider-Man’s my roommate. That’s cool. Uh… lotta questions, but I still gotta, y’know, process this.” He turned his attention back on them. “And not because I’m mad or anything. I just… was picturing a whole different conversation when you asked to talk.”
While you seemed to visibly relax at how he was taking this, you also cocked your head to the side in a quizzical matter. “What do you mean?”
“Hope I’m not making any horribly off-base presumptions,” (even though he was certain he was 100% right,) “but I actually thought you finally coming out to me.”
Now it was your turn to be thrown for a loop. After taking in what he said, you turned to face the wall with a simple, “oh” spilling from your mouth. “Guess it was only a matter of time before you figured me out, huh.”
“Hey, I know a thing or two because I’ve seen a thing or two,” he lightly joked.
You looked at him curiously, but didn’t pry, instead shucking off your jacket to fully expose the top half of your suit. “And yet…” you offered him a humored smirk, “you didn’t figure out I was Spider-Man? How does that make sense?”
“I have no frickin’ idea,” he exasperatedly groaned. “So, you mean to say you’ve been sneaking out to do your little spider thing this entire time? Right under my nose?”
“Kinda helps when you sneak out and do your little bat thing,” you countered with a sheepish shrug.
“And speaking of which,” he hoisted himself up into a sitting position, pointer finger jabbing accusingly at you, “we are so patrolling together tomorrow. I wanna see all your neat tricks up close. Got it?”
A warm chuckle bubbles from your chest. “Aye aye, Mr. Nightwing sir.” You even saluted him to sell your tiny quip. “Same time? 6:30?”
“If that works for you, itsy-bitsy.” After giving out his own chuckle, he quirked a brow at you. “But… I gotta know.”
“Yeah?”
“Where do… like… your webs come from?”

♕ No Matter What - Part 16 | Lena Luthor ♕
Tumblr media
Pairing: Lena Luthor x reader
Warnings: mentions of injuries and slight angst
Summary: Lena is still a no-show. . .
Previous Part | Next Part | Masterlist
________________________________________________
“Good, you’re doing great. Just one more step,” Dr. Mike encourages, holding my left hand as I walk on unstable legs.
My right hand is wrapped so tightly around the bar mounted to the wall that my knuckles have turned white.
I take the last step before lowering myself into the waiting wheelchair. My hands are shaking and I’m breathing heavily as Doctor Mike crouches down by my side with a beaming smile.
“That was amazing, Y/N,” he says. “If you keep working hard and doing your exercises you’ll be almost as good as new in no time.”
I try my best to smile, but even without the pitiful look on Doctor Mike’s face that follows it I know it wasn’t very convincing.
Ever since we dialed back my pain meds my entire left leg has been tingling and is weak. Sometimes it feels like an electric shock runs through it, all the way from my hip and down to my toes, and Doctor Mike says that even though the weakness will get better, the nerve pain will never truly go away.
Yes, it will also get better, but I won’t ever have physiological sensibility and mobility again.
“Why don’t we get you back to your room, you look tired,” he states rather than asks when I don’t comment on anything that he’s said.
I mumble please and hang my head low when he begins pushing me out of the pt room and back to my own room.
It’s been almost three weeks since what happened and I’ve honestly never felt this empty.
Don’t get me wrong, I was absolutely crushed and numb after Noah was killed, but now there’s just so many things weighing me down that I don’t know if I’ll ever come out on the other side of things again.
To start things off, I’m constantly having nightmares about what happened with Lex. They’re mostly about what actually happened but sometimes they’re also about Lena, Sam, or Ruby getting shot.
Then there’s the whole situation with my dad. He hasn’t visited me since that one time where he tried to apologize, and I’ve been racking my brain ever since if I have it in my heart to forgive him.
There’s also the nerve damage on my lower spine which turned out to be worse than expected. I’m not paralyzed — something I apparently came very close to— but my left leg is basically useless at the moment and the constant physical therapy is painful and exhausting.
And to top it all off, Lena hasn’t visited me even once since I got here. I also can’t get ahold of her on my phone because Lex destroyed it and I have yet to get a new one.
No one’s heard from her. The news outlets are dying for a comment from her about Lex’s and all her friends — Sam obviously included— can’t reach her either.
She’s not at home, apparently, which worries me, but it’s not like I can just walk out of this hospital and go look for her myself.
The only thing that gives me a little peace of mind is the fact that she texted Sam the day I was shot that she had to deal with some stuff and that she wouldn’t be available for some time.
When I first heard about it I was very worried because I know she blames herself for what happened, but then as time went on, I started to hate her for abandoning me.
Now, though, I’m just sad and dejected.
Do I really mean that little to her? I mean, even if she does blame herself, I thought her worry would outweigh her guilt eventually and she’d visit me, but apparently not. . .
Doctor Mike drops me off in my room, making sure I’m comfortable in the bed before leaving with an encouraging smile.
I sigh and close my eyes, only to open them again a couple minutes later when Sam and Ruby stop by.
They’ve been visiting me every day and even though I’m absolutely miserable and can’t wait to get out of here, they’ve been a reliable support system and always managed to cheer me up, even if it’s just a tiny bit.
Sam kisses my cheek in greeting and Ruby hugs me before pulling a deck of UNO cards out of her mom’s purse.
“Can we play?” she asks with a hopeful grin and I pat the space on the bed next to me with a nod.
We’ve been playing this game for a week now and at first ai thought I’d get tired of it, but that has yet to happen. I love playing with the two of them, especially when Ruby giggles after putting down a draw four card.
“Of course, c’mere.”
Sam takes a seat on the chair next to the bed while Ruby settles in next to me. She shuffles the cards and hands them out as Sam tells me about her day at the office.
“. . . and then Marcus has the nerve to burst right into my office,” Sam concludes once Ruby has passed out enough cards. “Can you believe that?!”
I chuckle and shake my head, sorting my cards and fanning them out in my left hand. “I honestly don’t know why you haven’t fired him yet.”
Sam huffs and puts down the first card, a red four. “Yeah, me neither.”
We play a couple of rounds, chatting about God knows what until Ruby decides she’s had enough and that she wants a hot chocolate from the hospital’s cafeteria.
Sam hands her some cash and we both watch her leave before Sam turns back to me with a serious expression.
“Okay, out with it,” she says, moving her chair closer to the bed. “You’ve been awfully quiet lately and I know it’s not just because of Lena.”
Immediately my eyes start stinging with tears and I gulp, trying to force them away. When Sam grabs my hand and squeezes it however, there’s no stopping them anymore and within seconds my cheeks are wet and my chin is wobbling.
“I just— I can’t anymore, Sam,” I admit with a hiccup. “I’m exhausted and-and everything around me reminds me of everything bad that’s ever happened to me.”
I use my free hand to wipe away my tears, but it’s of no use because they just keep coming and there’s nothing I can do about it as everything I’ve been holding back for almost three weeks now bubbles out of me.
“I can’t stand walking past Noah’s favorite coffee shop every morning. I hate seeing my dad’s favorite local beer in bars and I hate all the reporters outside the hospital just waiting for me to talk about Lex,” I whisper, not daring to look at Sam. “It’s too much. . .”
It’s silent for a moment until Sam’s soft touch on my cheek makes my breath hitch. She uses her free hand to wipe away some more of my tears and when I look up to meet her eyes all I can see is sympathy and understanding.
“It’s okay, Y/N,” she says quietly. “I understand what you mean and I think it’s high time you got away from all of this for a while.”
I take a shuddering breath and squeeze her hand. “You’re saying I should leave?”
She nods. “Yes. You could travel and explore the world, or you could just move somewhere else for a couple of years, you know?”
I don’t want to travel. I’ve seen enough of the world for now, having been stationed in a couple of countries while I was in the Army.
The thought of moving, however, makes me pause and think for a second.
It would be a great opportunity to start over, start on a blank slate, and if I ever get homesick I can always just move back to National City.
“But what about you and Ruby?“ I ask. I’ve always been there for them and they’ve always been there for me, too. I can’t just leave them behind and start a new life somewhere.
“We’ll be fine,” Sam assures me with a watery smile. “We’ll always stay in touch, but it’s time for you to start living again, Y/N, rather than just existing.”
“Sammy. . .” I trail off, not exactly knowing what to say. I’m overwhelmed by her understanding and her support, but I’m also sad at the prospect of being away from her and Ruby.
“It’s okay,” she says. “You’ll be okay, and Ruby and I will be okay, too.”
I squeeze her hand again and close my eyes for a second, letting what happened just now sink in.
“I love you, Sammy,” I whisper when I open my eyes again.
Sam sniffles and blinks away some of her own tears. “I love you, too.”
I chuckle and press a kiss to her knuckles right as Ruby returns from the cafeteria. She doesn’t notice our tear stained faces and wordlessly joins me on the bed again, sipping hot chocolate from her paper cup.
She starts babbling about her day at school which makes me smile softly. Every so often Sam’s gaze meets mine and the unrelenting understanding in her eyes puts my mind at ease.
I’m going to be okay, I think, but the question of Lena’s whereabouts and what she’s up to still gnaws at the back of my mind.
It’s been a week since I decided to move and an old friend of Sam’s told her about an apartment he’s just finished remodeling in Metropolis that I can move into at any time.
It’s a big step, moving to the other end of the country, but it will give me the space I so desperately need.
I was released from the hospital two days ago and have since been packing most of my stuff and getting my affairs in order.
I have to take it easy because I’m still recovering, which is why I’m only packing light things like clothes. The rest will be taken care of by a moving company that I’ve hired to start tomorrow.
My left leg is still weak and tingles, but the shooting pains have stopped and all my other injuries have healed nicely.
I have to use a crutch for the time being because I’m still a little unstable on my feet, but Doctor Mike told me that I won’t be needing it soon enough if I continue to do the exercises the physical therapist showed me.
So far the only people who know that I’m moving are Sam and Harper. The latter found out because she was there when Sam called me about the apartment, but she swore not to tell my parents about it.
We’re almost back to where we were before Noah’s death since she, not unlike Sam and Ruby, also visited me in the hospital daily, but it will still take some time for our friendship to be fully restored.
Now, as for my parents, I’ve decided not to tell them about moving until I’m already settled in Metropolis. If I told them now they’d try to stop me from going because they’re both trying to make things right with me, but I can’t start healing if I don’t get some space.
I’ve come to the conclusion that I will never be able to forgive either of them for what they did to me, especially not my dad, but I can see myself being civil with them in time.
A knock on the door makes me pause and drop the stack of clothes I was just about to put into a box onto the bed.
It’s almost dinner time and Sam was planning on coming over with some pizza, so I think nothing of it when I open the door with a lazy smile, but then I freeze when my eyes land on the one person I’ve been yearning to see for almost a month now.
“Lena,” I whisper, taking in her red nose and the snowflakes in her dark hair.
“Hi.” Her voice is just as quiet as mine, if not even quieter, and when her green eyes meet mine in silent question, I step aside and let her into the apartment.
