When series begin to question their initial premise and in doing so pull the rug from underneath the audience's feet. Like, walking up a hill and sitting on a bench only to find out I actually just sat down on a roller coaster

The audience *could* question mob's explosions or reigen using mob #but for the most part it just trundles along and basically functions as a mechanic for the setting? Until you find out it's not #with kaguya-sama it tends to use its comedic side to set the scene. The entire idea of them confessing to each other is a competition #until it's not #but kaguya-sama actually does this multiple times where something is a gag until you look closer and it's actually not #su: f is doing this to the entire og series by looking at how a chara like steven fits in the genre #but actually that has implications. the ideal understanding hero doesn't exist in isolation #ugh anyway there's probably some trope name for this but idk exactly what it is #mp100 #su #suf #(edit: also I realise this makes it sound like reigen taking advantage of mob is entirely ignored which isn't quite the case #because separation arc. but it's not actually concluded there even tho it seems that way)#idk if utena would count with the entire idea of a prince not existing but I feel like it's upfront enough from the start #about deconstructing that idea that it doesn't feel like it quite fits in that category with the rest)

I do need to sit down today and draft a new budget even though it scares me. I need to be realistic about it too. I really don't enjoy budgeting. Neither me nor wifey are especially gifted with it, and it makes us both anxious and avoidant, so it's really unfortunate.

Definitely one of the tasks for the personal assistant chart once I can afford one.

#for any one wondering:#i have an ongoing understanding with my wife that should our finances ever allow it there are two services i want to hire out #household maintenance care and the phone call/mail/email/bills bermuda triangle of disaster #between the two of we are so fucking bad at these things but they are so essential to basic functioning #that it genuinely harms us when we fuck up #so for now we keep chugging along #lots of radical acceptance and self compassion and executive functioning support strategies to try and keep the plates spinning #but some day theoretically we'll have the money to pay a freelancer to come in and spend 1-2 hours a couple of days per week #just.....helping us deal with some of this stuff #i'd pay them very well #i'm thinking something like $100/day for maybe 2 hours work?#i just want someone who will sort and respond to my mail for me and schedule my appts/log them in my calendar and shoot me a text about it #someone who washes all the dishes down to baseline once a week and helps me do organizational planning/reworking once a month #not big stuff by any means but life changing to me #especially if their role is largely body doubling with me while I do other cleaning/organizing tasks so double the work can get done #anyway its purely hypothetical now and for a long time to come but i keep track of what tasks we may need help with #so i can prioritize and understand how many hours of support we would really need each week

What I was taught growing up: Wild edible plants and animals were just so naturally abundant that the indigenous people of my area, namely western Washington state, didn't have to develop agriculture and could just easily forage/hunt for all their needs.

The first pebble in what would become a landslide: Native peoples practiced intentional fire, which kept the trees from growing over the camas praire.

The next: PNW native peoples intentionally planted and cultivated forest gardens, and we can still see the increase in biodiversity where these gardens were today.

The next: We have an oak prairie savanna ecosystem that was intentionally maintained via intentional fire (which they were banned from doing for like, 100 years and we're just now starting to do again), and this ecosystem is disappearing as Douglas firs spread, invasive species take over, and land is turned into European-style agricultural systems.

The Land Slide: Actually, the native peoples had a complex agricultural and food processing system that allowed them to meet all their needs throughout the year, including storing food for the long, wet, dark winter. They collected a wide variety of plant foods (along with the salmon, deer, and other animals they hunted), from seaweeds to roots to berries, and they also managed these food systems via not only burning, but pruning, weeding, planting, digging/tilling, selectively harvesting root crops so that smaller ones were left behind to grow and the biggest were left to reseed, and careful harvesting at particular times for each species that both ensured their perennial (!) crops would continue thriving and that harvest occurred at the best time for the best quality food. American settlers were willfully ignorant of the complex agricultural system, because being thus allowed them to claim the land wasn't being used. Native peoples were actively managing the ecosystem to produce their food, in a sustainable manner that increased biodiversity, thus benefiting not only themselves but other species as well.

i entirely agree that humans should depend on each other more and that we should try to approach people with open minds and not believe that they are out to get us, on that note, shaming and chastising people for not feeling comfortable to depend on other people and telling them that they need to fix it or they're actually MORE of a bother and a burden is probably not the best way to go about it

To Those Who Still Hold Onto a Shred of Morality and Humanity - Stand with Us and Don’t Forget Us.

Over 40,000 lives have been lost, with 70% of them being children and women. Among these numbers are my own family members—many of whom I’ve already lost.

My family, my cousin, aunt, their children, and grandchildren were all directly targeted by Israeli airstrikes. I’m sharing a video of my aunt and cousin to reveal the harsh reality we are facing in Gaza. In this video, my aunt bravely shares her story about how the Israeli army airstruck them along with their children and grandchildren. Even if you don’t understand Arabic, just watching her speak will help you grasp the immense suffering we are enduring in Gaza. You can see the vedeo in this post.

The few family members who remain are in grave danger, and I’m terrified of losing them too. We have a chance to make a real difference and give my 24 surviving family members a chance to live.

In Gaza, jobs are non-existent, and nonprofit organizations like the UN have drastically reduced their work on the ground. Basic necessities such as milk, food, and medicine are almost as expensive as gold. My family is struggling to afford even the essentials, and my mother urgently needs medication that we simply cannot afford.

I’m also sharing another video that shows the daily struggle people face just to get clean water. The suffering here extends far beyond my family; it’s a genocide affecting every aspect of life in Gaza.

Thanks to the generosity of those who have already donated, we’ve raised $535 toward our goal of $190,363- august 17th. I’m deeply grateful to each of you, but we still have a long way to go, and I need your help more than ever. Imagine if it were your family—how would you feel if they were in this situation?

Never gonna get over the fact that Captain Rex spent FOUR episodes with The Bad Batch, during which time:

Tech nearly wipes out a runway construction crew, Tokyo Drift style

Crosshair picks 3 separate fights with regs, including Rex himself (and Rex socks him in the face for it)

Hunter literally looks Rex in the face after receiving orders and says “ehhh yeah no” and then proceeds to charge an approaching enemy squadron head on

Wrecker begs to explode just about every single building they lay eyes on

Hunter confesses to a Jedi general that he’s never submitted a single report in his life

Hunter also goes for a joyride by dangling from the foot of a giant winged beast from a single rappelling line

Tech later convinces them all to jump through the air onto the backs of said winged beasts in the middle of heavy enemy fire after summoning them with his self-made Animal Sound Spotify

Wrecker destroys like 100 battle droids in 3.5 seconds with his bare hands and laughs like a maniac the entire time

Crosshair, rather than let himself be shown up by Wrecker, destroys like 1/6 of the enemy forces with tiny hand mirrors and a single laser shot

The entire batch is sassing each other THE ENTIRE TIME (“don’t worry, Wrecker, I’LL hold your hand” “yeah…it’s a lift” “me and the boys will tag along, just to say I told you so”)

And after all of that, Rex looked at Echo and was like “yeah I think we’ve found your new home” and Echo was just like 😍😍

Fatboy Slim - The Rockafeller Skank 1998

"The Rockafeller Skank" is a song by English big beat musician and DJ Fatboy Slim. It was released as the lead single from his second studio album, You've Come a Long Way, Baby, on 8 June 1998. The single peaked at number six on the UK Singles Chart and topped the Icelandic Singles Chart.

The song features the repeated line "Right about now, the funk soul brother / Check it out now, the funk soul brother", which is a truncated vocal sample of rapper Lord Finesse on the track "Vinyl Dogs Vibe" by Vinyl Dogs. The original line, a spoken-word introduction to the instrumental track, was "Check it out right about now, it's no other than the funk soul brother, the Lord Finesse. And you're welcome to the world of the Vinyl Dogs right about now".

The song also features eight other samples, including a sample of the song "Sliced Tomatoes" by the band Just Brothers, The Bobby Fuller Four's "I Fought the Law" (featuring DeWayne Quirico's drum intro), "Join the Gang" by David Bowie, "Who You Wit II" by Jay-Z (pitched down vocals saying "Rockafeller"), and a sample of "Beat Girl" by John Barry and his Orchestra. Guitar lines were also sampled from "Twistin' 'N' Twangin'" by Duane Eddy and "Why Can't You Love Me" by Brian Poole & The Tremeloes, along with a shout from the song "Soup" by the J.J. All-Stars. Fatboy Slim has stated that to clear the samples and release the song he had to release 100% of the track's royalties, 25% to each artist, meaning he receives no royalties himself.
