Chapter 77 of the manhwa: says Helene is lonely just as the manhwa shows Helene saying to Fian “this is all my fault”. Also calls Helene out as being extremely similar to Lyla (something that has now been thrice reiterated by Paris, the garden guy/Hendel, and now Phillip) and this is in spite of the fact Helene and Lyla are definitely opposite of each other Literally the chapter before this (and after iirc): people who grew up close together have very similar “souls” and will be confused as being like each other by those around them. Case in point: Phillip and Fian who have been confused as each other by Daniel, Paris, and Fian’s own mother despite being very different people Me, putting the pieces together from the light novel: oh. Ohhhhhhhhh. Time to cry again oh nooooooo

Or: I’m once again astounded by the clever foreshadowing that The Mighty Extra’s manhwa partakes in and how it spoils things ahead of time if you connect the dots. Using Fian and Phillip’s changed relationship and “similar souls” thing to subtly hint at the truth of Lyla’s and Helene’s relationship is amazingly well done. It's something that goes over the head at first glance but if you notice the parallel and what it's implying...man I love TME <3

The Favor

When Youngblood became a ghost he actually didn't think he would be so lonely. It was stressful and annoying, being so young, watching the years go by but never being able to move on or change. He was a child who died, and the only way for him to feel like a child again was to play.

But even then he felt invisible. That made his powers listen to his wishes and cause no adult to see him. And maybe that was for the better, adults were scary, adults could hurt you. They wouldn't understand.

Meeting the other ghosts was both a blessing and a curse. Everyone saw him as a kid, some thought he was annoying and others played with him. He was grateful to Ember for spending so much of her time being a pirate, but he didn't want to take up so much of her time. It made him feel guilty.

When Danny became King and the ghost kid heard that he was destined to help the other ghosts, Youngblood plucked up his courage and asked him for a favor: Find him a friend. One alive that wanted to play and never get bored of it.

Danny took the task very seriously, looking for all possible candidates, avoiding ghosts. Until he found a more or less suitable friend: Klarion. He was older than Youngblood but seemed to be just as bored. Clockwork looked at him in dismay at his solution to the problem but didn't stop him.

This led to the Justice League being defeated by Klarion, who had taken over the Watchtower and seemed to be happily talking to air. He was seconds away from destroying the earth or something similar with death ray, but there was nothing they could do about it.

Everyone froze when a portal opened next to the boy and someone came out asking "How are the new friends?" Before realizing the situation, the creature sighed in disappointment and destroyed the death ray with a snap of his fingers. A girl just like him came out of the portal excited ignoring everyone and began to talk to the air. Klarion seemed to be following the conversation.

Danny watched Youngblood talking to Dani and Klarion, he knew that his cousin could be good company, but he hadn't contacted her before due to her travels and status as a halfa (the probability of destroying the world was there too); well, now Youngblood had two friends (that solved the problem) but- how did he prevent them from ending the world? Or worse, from terrorize innocent cosplayers?

Cody pressed his hand against Obi-Wan’s neck, reaching further down, his thumb resting in the hollow of his throat. He shuddered desperately under the contact, wishing the hand could press further, beneath his skin into his very blood.

“Yes.” He was a little surprised when he managed the word, afraid that Cody’s hand would stop it escaping from his throat.

Cody’s other hand rested carefully on his bare shoulder and Obi-Wan wondered desperately and wildly if touch could burn. If, like this, Cody could truly remake him, shape him into a man that knew rather than remembered touch.

Obi-Wan is horribly and terribly in love with Cody. He dreams of closeness, even as it aches.

I love that ship where both characters are introduced as friendly, only for one to turn out to have been lying the whole time and try to kill the other, all of which eventually culminates in their defeat and dramatic (and literal) fall, only then for them to return as a reluctant ally of their once enemy who knows them way too well and whose new relationship with them is largely interpreted as bantery. What do you mean which one.

Okay, I’ve been enjoying all the “Buck is an Ally” jokes but, especially after the scene with Maddie, I feel like there’s an element there that’s not being discussed but that rings really true of a lot of people’s queer experiences.

I’m pretty sure Buck knows that being a man and going on a date with a man makes him some flavor of queer. He’s not that dumb, he can do that math.

But he’s nervous! There’s something exposed and uncomfortable about going on this date, telling his friends and family, being seen to be something other than straight. And he feels like he shouldn’t feel that way. He thinks being queer is great! It’s totally normal! No one should feel uncomfortable about being visibly queer!

So if he’s uncomfortable, if he feels exposed, if he doesn’t want to tell his friends or family right away, if he lies about it? Was he never as okay with all of this as he thought he was? Was he not actually an ally?

I feel like allyship can come with this sort of expectation that you’d transition gracefully into being queer. That it would be comfortable and easy. And that expectation can actually make it a lot more uncomfortable. Because being comfortable with queerness and being comfortable with self-discovery are two very different things but when the self-discovery you’re dealing with is your own queerness they don’t seem separate.

It can really feel like “if you were a good ally you’d be totally comfortable being perceived as queer” sometimes. And obviously that’s not true. Coming out can be extremely vulnerable and it can be really uncomfortable to do any kind of self-discovery but especially figuring out your sexuality. And especially later in life. And I think it really makes a lot of sense that Buck, who is definitely feeling unsure and exposed, feels like he shouldn’t feel that way because he’s been an ally. So he feels like he needs to validate that past experience of being an ally. He’s seeking validation that being unsure in this self-discovery doesn’t negate his past acceptance of and comfort with queerness. And I think he does get that validation from Maddie.

And I think there’s an interesting conversation (and maybe some interesting fanfiction) there if we just dig a little deeper past the jokes.

I think anybody who thinks autism is more "accepted" nowadays is either in denial or can't see outside themselves. What we actually did is just popularize a really weird infantilized perception of autism that focuses on the symptoms that can be repackaged as "cute" or "quirky," and are continuing to treat people with inconvenient or even upsetting symptoms like garbage. And no I'm not talking about bigots who pull the "I'm literally neurodivergent" bs I'm talking about supposed allies telling me I'm acting like a child for getting too emotional when I literally have "Can't Regulate My Emotions" disorder, or that I'm moving weird, or that my voice never has the right tone to it. Sorry my autism doesn't stop and end at hand flapping and dinosaurs lmao I can gaurantee I'm not enjoying my meltdown any more than you are, buddy! In fact, I'd say I'm having a far worse time than you! I do not make a choice to be emotionally volatile nor do I feel good when I get upset. It's not my fault that emoting "properly" is a performance that takes energy and I really can't do it 100% of the time. Like idk it honestly feels like I still have to mask in supposedly progressive spaces just in a different way.

And of course this doesn't even start to get into people with higher support needs than me who are rarely acknowledged unless they themselves are doing it. It's one of the reasons those posts that are like "Do you think neurodivergence is just autism/adhd, and not (heavily stigmatized other disorder)?" rub me the wrong way. They always seem to be addressing the most sanitized version of autism possible which strikes me as counter intuitive to the point being made. And don't get me wrong, as a system I understand why it's being said but it just really frustrates me because the people these posts are about don't actually think severe cases of autism or adhd are neurodivergence either! They treat higher support needs people with the same disorders like shit!

No I do not think anyone who's ever made a post like that is a bad person nor do I expect every post to have a disclaimer containing every possible nuance but I do think a lot of them are not written with the existence of high support needs or "weird" autism symptoms in mind, which inadvertently feeds into this "palatable autism" thing people keep doing

People who live in other countries do not consult American statistics before we speak. This applies to my statement that “trans women face more violence than trans men.” This statement is true in Australia, and continues to be true no matter how much Americans insist that all violence should be racially motivated first and foremost. It freaks me out how eager you collectively are to correct me on this. It’s such a fundamental truth about the world to you that certain bodies deserve violence that you automatically assume anything else must be wrong. I’m not willing to be complicit in that kind of thinking.

Don’t get me wrong; there’s a lot of racial violence in Australia. We are a colonial nation founded on bloodsoaked soil, and we are racist as fuck. However, if I were to discard every instance of violence against a trans person of colour as being racially motivated and nothing else (again, the implication of that is troubling to me)… then my racially segregated data would still report that trans women face more violence than trans men. Like, that’s just how it is. Feel free to take your anger about this out on a map of the world.
