The battle had been lost. Aventia had been lost. Agron wasn't going to sit and sulk about that though. There wasn't much he could do about the situation so mulling it over in his head wasn't going to help. He'd already had a few guild members and one specific witch asking if they had done anything wrong. What was he ever supposed to say to that? He probably could have done a lot different himself, but it wasn't going to change the fact that Aventia was lost. Just like Iskaldrik had been. All he knew now was that he needed to make sure the same did not happen to Eterna.

"You survived." He spoke as he came upon Kuno in the Tower. Agron would never admit to it aloud, but he had been concerned that the kid wouldn't be able to survive. He was glad to see that his concern had been misplaced. "I should pat myself on the back."

Those were the exact words he preferred to hear. Agron was not the kind of guy that was going to easily mentor someone. If he was going to, they needed to put more than one hundred percent into everything they did. He may not have been proficient in the use of bows and arrows, but he was proficient in fighting. That was what really mattered at the end of the day. Everyone needed to know how to deal with any situation thrown their way. A Bowmaster could outperform a Blademaster and vice versa. The Queensguard would never downplay another party's ability unless they had shown that they were incapable. Right now? Kuno was not even giving one hundred percent and he knew that the kid could do better than that if given the opportunity. However, coddling was not in his nature. The best way to get the other to realize his capabilities was to put it to action.

As soon as Kuno picked up his bow, he was pushing forward to attack. The arrow hit the ground beneath his feet which caused Agron to deftly move sideways before another arrow was shot at his shoulder. Before it could land, he was shifting into a bat and then landing himself behind the other warrior. His blade at Kuno's throat, he shook his head. "You should know your enemy's strengths as well as their weaknesses." He moved backwards, sword still lifted and pointed at the other's back. "You're human, Kuno. Strigoi and dhampir have many abilities that make it easy for us to move across any battlefield. If I attack you headfirst, you adapt and attack where you think I will end up." His other finger lifted to tap against his own temple. "Think like a strigoi and you beat the strigoi. Think like a human and you fail."

Kuno had already spent the past few weeks berating himself, picking out every flaw and convincing himself that was why he was alone. He didn't need yet another voice amplifying his own, as it only felt worse to have his worst insecurities confirmed. So, yes, he was done, but Agron didn't seem the kind to take 'no' for an answer. For better or for worse, Kuno was done when his mentor said he was done. He hung his head in shame as Agron laid into him, not daring to utter a single word until the other was silent. A quiet "Yes, sir." was all he could manage after.

He rose slowly, practically shrinking under the strigoi's gaze as he picked up his bow. Unlike him, it was refined, polished, and made to fight. Kuno didn't quite feel like fighting anymore, but he'd have to push on if he wanted to walk home without bruises. He knew Agron wouldn't hold back. Before the archer could even get into ready position, the older man charged at him, causing Kuno to quickly kite backwards. He reached behind him and grabbed an arrow, gracefully nocking it before pulling back and firing at Agron's feet. He hoped to throw off the strigoi's footing, make him stumble to create more space in between them. Even though his demeanor might not suggest it, his aim was always precise. It was stamina he needed to work on, clearly. He sent another arrow flying at Agron's shoulder, again trying to knock him off balance.

Giving Curses to Characters Who Didn’t Have Them

I’m gonna try and make each of these short because I know I’ll start rambling if I don’t

Akari - Is it even a question? She would 100% take a dip in the Spring of Drowned Piglet. Maybe a fully grown pig if there’s a spring for it.

Konatsu - Toss that girl into the Spring of Drowned Girl! I like to think the only noticeable differences in her cursed form is her hair color and either gaining or losing an inch or two.

Akane - Is she technically cursed by the Spring of Drowned Akane? Hmm... Maybe the Spring of Drowned Man? Y’know, just to compliment Ranma’s curse? Given that she can’t swim, she’d probably get cursed by mistake.

Kasumi - Remember that one chapter where Kasumi was possessed by a demon for a minute? I can see her falling into a Spring of Mischievous Demon. Maybe she’d look similar to Lum from Urusei Yatsura in her cursed form? Oomf, suddenly reminded that I need to read that.

Nabiki - I actually can’t think of anything specific for Nabiki, but I know she’d find some way to profit from it. Maybe a red panda? Cute animal pics sell well, right?

Ukyo - I can’t see Ukyo willingly fucking with Jusenkyo, so any curse of hers is accidental. I can see her ending up as something like a beaver or a platypus, mostly because their tails remind me of her big ass spatula.

Tatewaki - ngl, it feels weird calling him by his given name. We know that Kuno has tried messing with wish granting swords and phoenix eggs, so he’d probably find out about Jusenkyo powder eventually. I’d say he would go for Spring of Drowned Twins so he could date Akane and ‘the pig-tailed girl.’ At the same time, I can see him screwing up and getting stuck as a bullfrog or something.

Kodachi - She’d end up in a Spring of Drowned Raven. idk, I think about her whole ‘Kodachi the Black Rose’ thing and I can so easily see her leaving a trail of black feathers instead of rose petals.

Tsubasa - Given that his whole thing is dressing cute, I feel like he’d get an equally cute curse. Maybe a tree frog? I might be the only who finds those cute actually. But if you want to dive into the supernatural, I’d make him a mermaid (If we can have warrior goddesses and ox monsters, we can have mermaids!). How does one drown a mermaid? idk, probably the same way they drowned an octopus.

Azusa - Similarly to Tsubasa, I can see her ending up as something cute. Maybe a penguin to go with her ice skating? No, I don’t know what a penguin was doing at Jusenkyo either.

Mikado - A slug

Shinnosuke - An elephant, just for irony’s sake. Y’know, cuz they say an elephant never forgets.

reread the entirety of ranma for the first time in years. the thing about ranma is that almost everyone is selfish, immature and has the emotional intelligence of a goose. and while the premise is the relationship between ranma and akane and they do have their moments, the show's essence is a slapstick romcom with a heavy emphasis on the com. most gags are built on endless misunderstandings and willful assumptions. youll get growth about every couple dozen chapters at best. the ending leaves you wishing for more. i wanted more development and less BONKS YOU WITH HAMMER every five panels. fans might maul me for saying this but i do hope the remake anime cuts some of the chapters out because they just plain arent needed. they feel distracting. also some stuff reeeeally didnt age well and im not sure todays audience would like those jokes.

To lose is to live.

It's an unchangeable part of life. That revelation does not make it any easier to bear.

Knowing loss from a young age, even if only in the form of a hunting dog taken by wyvern or a foal born but not drawing breath. The idea that familiarity dulled the pain was a notion Matthias quickly found to be false, although knowing death so intimately did help in rebounding from the grief. Losing his siblings to the conflict on the border taught him nothing that could be put to practical use, only reinforced that it was bad tactics to think a conflict would simply end with the more bodies thrown at it. Losing his wife and second child taught him many things. Killing in the name of revenge wasn't rewarding in the slightest, the dead wouldn't come back no matter how many bodies were offered to them. In fact, it was possible to become numb to death. Losing someone so important could surely strip someone of the ability to cry as they might otherwise do so...but in losing such a thing, he found it was a bit easier to mourn. Far easier to accept. Losing his king taught him no matter how confident, no matter how untouchable one seemed, they could not win if they decided so brazenly to challenge death's embrace. Rather than the things he's achieved, the feats he's managed, his whole life has been colored by the loss within it. His desire to keep others at arms length, the insistence on methods he knows don't work but prevent worse catastrophe, and perhaps worst of all, his belief that his death would simply be accepted as a necessary, that those around him would not mourn, that in dying, he proved more useful than he did in life.
