A character looks straight into the camera and says "I'm not interested in romance" and people will still say "No, it's not confirmed they're aromantic!!!" "They could change their mind!!!" "it's a challenge for them to overcome!!!" "They'll have character development that makes them fall in love"

It's like they are given the most blatant answer to a character romantic orientation and they actively ignore it. all the while all it takes is subtext for people to speak as if it is fact for a character to be any other sexuality.

Wu trained Morro at the same time that Garmadon was training with Chen which MEANS that Misako was around to see what the pressure of wanting and training to be the Green Ninja could lead to.

So later when she had Lloyd and KNEW that he would be the legendary Green Ninja, do you think she thought of the child Wu had once trained? The kid who became so obsessed with proving himself that he put himself in danger time and time again? The little boy who ran off into the night and never came back?

After seeing that, is it any wonder why she didn't want to leave her son-- the actual Green Ninja-- to be trained by Wu at such a young age?

Maybe a boarding school for bad boys would never make him want to be a hero. Maybe it would keep him safe from the destructive power of destiny. Maybe Darkley's was the only way to save her beloved son, Lloyd Garmadon, from himself.

Maybe Misako remembered Morro. And maybe, just maybe, she knew it would be best if her son never turned into someone like that.

thinking about the remaining members of the ghost crew after the liberation of lothal. they've freed lothal, which is like a second home to them, but the victory is bittersweet. because kanan is still gone. ezra is still gone. and they have to return to yavin, triumphant but grieving, ezra's message still ringing in their ears. thinking about them having to fill out reports for the rebellion, saying that they're two spectres short. having to start dealing with the questions from people around them: where's spectre 1? where's spectre 6? (dead. missing in action). hera discovering she's pregnant just a few weeks later and it's a joyous moment for the remaining ghost crew, but it brings a fresh wave of grief too. because the other two members of their crew should be there. just thinking about them throwing themselves into the rebellion, taking it day by day with the ever-present reminder that their family is incomplete. because there are holes in their life where kanan and ezra should be (where's spectre 1? where's spectre 6?) (still dead. still missing in action. but maybe he's dead too. maybe he has been the whole time).

The fact that all Gwen knows about her variants in other universes is that they're dead is so sad. Like imagine you want to know what happens to you in other dimensions and it turns out that wherever you look you mean nothing, you're so unimportant that there's no bigger role for you other than dying.

And I've seen you guys pointing this out, where she's looking at what looks like her own death and even if it's not this is not just a "love interest" Gwen, this is a superhero who is supposed to mean something, but she doesn't. She's only here to die. And so far this (our) Gwen doesn't have any reason to believe that she won't die very soon just like other Gwens.

I think that one of the main reasons why she's rejecting Miles is not just her trauma and all shit she's been through and the fear of dying like other Gwens when they're involved with Spider-Man, but also because if they start something and she dies this will hurt him too.

It's easy to say "canon events aren't true she shouldn't believe in that" but this isn't just a regular risk, this is her life we're talking about.

arcane season 2 introduction analysis incoming:

does anyone else find it really cool, but also very nerve-wracking, that the season 2 arcane introduction is referencing a bunch of well known tragic plays/musicals? we all know riot/fortiche isn’t one to put unnecessary details in, every single thing is either symbolic, a parallel or foreshadowing - especially in the introductions. so, could these chosen plays/performances foreshadow how the rest of the story could go?

i know that the caitlyn/macbeth poster parallels have been circulating a lot recently, and i think it provides a really good idea into how caitlyn’s arc might go. 

the events of act one positioned caitlyn in a perfect place to follow the storyline of macbeth. her current state (losing her mother, the trauma from jinx, etc) has made her predisposed to violence, much like macbeth. we can clearly see that in the caitvi betrayal scene, when she hits vi in the gut with a rifle, as well as in the fight before that, where she has no qualms with potentially killing innocents for the ‘greater good’. she was also thrust into a position of high power where she will be easily manipulated by ambessa. 

similar to this, macbeth is a story of a man thrust into a high position of power and unable to keep the blood off his hands, and he and his wife eventually go mad because of it. I think ambessa fits the role of lady macbeth here, and she has the potential to goad caitlyn (macbeth) into violent acts and atrocities while keeping the blood and blame off her hands. through caitlyn, ambessa now has significant influence and power over piltover and the fight with zaun. how will caitlyn, who is barely more than a pawn now, cope with this? macbeth slowly went insane in his attempt to maintain power - i fear for how caitlyn will fare. 

macbeth is a tragedy, by the way. 

i haven’t properly analysed the rest, but i think it’s interesting to know that the shot of jinx holding the flag is a reference to les mis (also a tragedy, as SPOILER ALERT all the characters die in their fight for freedom and fairness). the line is literally 'oh the misery'. if jinx rallies zaun to fight against piltover, is she leading them into a massacre?  

les mis is a tragedy. 

the shots of mel and ambessa lounging on the couch is a reference to julius caesar. it is a play of betrayal and caesar is betrayed by one of their companions. et tu, brute? brutus joins a conspiracy to assassinate caesar and prevent him from becoming a tyrant. does ambessa become a tyrant/bloodthirsty leader with her newfound power? will mel join the black rose and betray her mother in order to stop piltover’s destruction?

julius caesar is a tragedy.

one last thing. in all of these works, the main character of the story dies by the end.

so, safe to say, i am very nervous about what the introduction is foreshadowing. i have a feeling an important character is going to die.

arcane will be a tragedy. 

(viktor and the mask is also a reference to phantom of the opera but, as much as i love that musical, i haven’t analysed his shots yet so i haven’t included it)

Every time I see someone earnestly say that Carver hates Hawke, I have to exercise such restraint to not scream.

Every day I get closer to writing a deep dive about him because that's my guy. He's so interesting. He feels so much. He tries so hard when talking to the other companions and some of the dynamics he has with them are so good. He can be so fucking funny and sweet and awkward. He so badly wants to be wanted and appreciated and to protect everyone he loves.

Carver Hawke, they could never make me hate you.

I don't think people actually hate volumes 4-6 as much as the fndm claims to abhor them. Not only do they carry narrative significance with the introduction of new antagonists (Tyrian, Hazel, Watts), new worldbuilding (Anima, Menagerie, Atlas), new protagonists (Oscar, Maria, Klein/Schnee Household), but arguably some of the most important arcs in the show including but not limited to Ozpin's possession of Oscar, RNJR's grief over Pyrrha, Yang's road to recovery, Blake's reunion with her family and past, the beginning of Ironwood's descent, Ren's vengeance, the beginning Raven's redemption, and the descent of Adam. Literally none of the awesome moments in volumes 7-9 could be possible without the "filler" volumes

I'm ngl, I'm kinda pissed at looking at people on Twitter going "drdt fans after a character dies in DANGANRONPA" and it's a gif of like a man slamming his fist into a wall out of frustration cause like yeah. that IS me after the confirmation of ace going to die, so what? God forbid a character be so complex and well written and have his arc go down so beautifully that you think "he so me fr!!"

yes I'm upset ace is the culprit, no I might not drop drdt cause I do have other favorites even though ace was my #1, please remember that people form genuine connections to characters, and it's not right to be like "oh wow your leaving the random cause YOUR favorite is going to die.....heh couldn't be me" like if you think that plz stfu as long as the person isn't attacking drdt dev about this then there's no goddamn reason to be complaining about OTHER PEOPLE'S CHOICES.

The shading was a bit hard because I was trying to use yellow light on a yellow goober, but then I added the blue light and it was smooth sailing from there.

My favorite songs are Letters, Charming, and Pierre & Anatole, they're all pretty story heavy but I love it. (The Ball definitely has the most unhinged Anatole, though the wording can be a bit yikes a few times.)
