i keep adding things to this one post and then realizing they'd make more sense as a separate post. so here's how the party explained what happened in dagger ending au to bonnie:

Siffrin was very sad and worried about everyone leaving, because he was alone before he met us and he didn't want to be alone again. But he didn't talk about it because we all had plans that seemed very important, and he didn't want to get in the way, and he didn't want to admit that he didn't have anything else to do. It sounds pretty silly when you put it like that, but the rest of us were nervous to admit how much we cared about each other, too! Sometimes it's hard to tell someone how important they are to you, if you don't know whether you're important to them.

During the quest it was okay, because Siffrin knew we would stay together until Vaugarde was saved. But getting to Dormont meant the quest was almost over, and they got so upset at the idea of everyone leaving, that they didn't really care about what they were doing. Why did it matter what happened to them, when they were going to be sad and alone tomorrow either way? So they weren't very careful while they were training, and they got hurt. Luckily Odile saw, and Mirabelle healed them right up.

Now, he's really glad that we all decided to stay together longer! But he might still feel worried for a while, because it's hard to believe that everyone isn't leaving, after he's been dreading it for so long. And sometimes when you're sad for a long time, your brain just tries to keep being sad even when there isn't any reason to be. But if we keep reminding him that we love him just as much as he loves us, it'll start to stick in his brain better! We might also need to remind him to be careful and take care of himself, because that can be hard to remember when you're sad. And while he practices that, we can help take care of him, too!

when it comes to Amane.... i think "right" vs "wrong" should be looked at with a little more nuance, maybe...

was killing Shidou wrong? yeah. but did Amane actually know it was wrong? maybe this is a controversial take, but i don't think she did. i think Amane knows others would see it as wrong, but that's not the same thing as knowing something is wrong.

Amane's belief system was almost entirely created by the cult (i say almost because it's clear she still, at least sometimes, has beliefs of her own that go against some of what the cult taught her). i think Amane knows what's right vs wrong when it comes to both her cult and to outsiders. but that doesn't mean she actually believes and knows what is Right vs Wrong.

if you are not taught something is wrong, and are even taught it is right... then why would you think it's wrong? right and wrong are not inherent things people believe. there are some things that may be inherently off putting, thanks to evolution (nature), but those things can be overridden by your environment (nurture).

and this isn't determined by age or intelligence. i don't think it's an insult to Amane's intelligence to say she doesn't know right from wrong. nor is it treating her like a child to say she doesn't understand this. even if she was a teenager, even if she was an adult, i would still be saying this.

she said in one of her interrogation answers that she believes what she did would be met with praise by those she respects (the cult).

What do the people you respect think about your sin? I just followed what I've been taught. So obviously they'll praise me and tell me that I did good.

she does not know it was wrong, because she does not know the cult is wrong.

As a queer Christian, I’ve been interested in blending religious and queer stuff together in sticker designs. BUT IM ALSO HAVE A LOT of guilt about my gender/internalized transphobia/etc, plus I struggle a lot with reconciling faith and queerness. So I have NO IDEA if this design is super f#cking stupid to someone else or if it’s ok ;-;

part of me is irrationally convinced no queer person would like this and this is blatant heresy to my belief system BUT IDK HVJDHVHJDJF I really like the design but I feel stupid using a scripture other people used to go against trans people but I meant this in a reclaiming way? Anyway yeah sanity check pls…does this design make sense or is it wildly contradictory lol….

Hi hello!!!!! I will very gladly talk about Bluebelle, she’s the love of my life forever :D 💙💙💙💙💙

Important note: I’m a very um dramatic person when it comes to creating oc backstories. I am nothing if not a little bit pretentious, and giving ocs weird and angsty backstories is my passion project, and that’s part of the reason it took so long to collect my thoughts, and come up with something concrete, (or as concrete as possible)

I’ll start with facts about her that I like and then backstory regarding the fabled music box :))

-her design/colors are based off of a stuffed animal I bought in Munich :)

-the songs I most associate with her, (I have a playlist because I wanted one), are probably A Dangerous Thing/Everything Matters by AURORA, The Sugar Plum Fairy from the Nutcracker, and I came to your party dressed as a shadow. Adore those songs

-the only jellicles that she has met, (by choice), are Victoria, Misto, Plato, and Demeter. Or rather, Demeter knows of her, but Bluebelle doesn’t know Demeter

-this is mostly bc she’s pretty paranoid about meeting new people, and prefers to stick to her people. It took her a while to warm up to Plato, but eventually she got used to him

-this is also despite Vicci’s best efforts to convince Bluebelle to at the very least meet Jemima

-SPEAKING OF JEMIMA, if you haven’t heard, here’s my little jellicle magic theory: The cat’s magic relates to their eyes, just vaguely. Jemima and Misto each have white eyes, and you may have noticed, Bluebelle has those eyes as well. Because she’s. Blue. And that’s not a typical cat color, I figured I should just run with it. I see Bluebelle’s magic as a combination of Jemima and Victoria! Yes, Victoria is magic to me and that’s not just because she’s lovely and beautiful, but because of the way she uses the music in the show, and the way some productions seem to use her as a metaphor for the Jellicle moon, relating it to her dancing. This is especially true for me when I hc Vicci as deaf, because it implies some sort of magic when her solo syncs with the music. Bluebelle has the same sort of music and dance magic as Victoria, and the same sort of eerie unearthly-ness of Jemima. Basically I combined all my favorite girlies into one and made her <33

Really incoherent n convoluted story under the cut lolllll

I’ve always imagined the music box has something Bluebelle has had since she was very young, as in some of her earliest memories are of the tune it plays. Her mother probably gave it to her before both of her parents disappeared like they were in a Disney movie. The point is that it’s one of her favorite things, and she loves dancing to it. Victoria loves the song as well, and they sometimes practice using the music box, and things continue as so until Misto appears, and starts practicing with them.

Because Misto insists that no music is coming out of the music box. He can’t hear a single note.

Neither can Plato, or any of the other jellicles, when Victoria borrows it, and plays the song for everyone else in the junkyard, (Bluebelle doesn’t go with her-she’d rather not meet the others, for fear they won’t like her, or will tell Victoria to stop visiting her).

No one else can hear the music. No one except, of course, for Jemima and the psychic twins.

Bluebelle starts to ask around town, playing it for different cats, until she finds an older tom, not far, though she doesn’t know it, from the Junkyard.

He can’t hear the music box of course, but he tells her that he’s bit of a collector of magical artifacts. Perhaps he’ll have something similar in his collection.

Would she like to take a look?

Bluebelle declines. Declines at least, to visit him on this night. She hands him the music box, and instructs him to take it back to his den, and look for himself. They will meet in the same place the next day, and if he cannot find anything, then she will go and see for herself.

The next morning, they meet again. He tells her that he’s sorry, he couldn’t find anything that matched the box, and that in his haste to meet her on time, he’d left the box behind. The tomcat invites her to his den, and again, she declines, saying she will visit on a later date, that she already has plans.

Bluebelle follows him home, and hides in wait. She watches as his friends gather to scheme, and doesn’t notice the staring of a golden queen hanging off the arm of a blood orange tom.

The acquaintances leave, and the old cat retires to his den. The fire is almost out, leaving her to sneak into the other tent.

…blood seeps from every item in the cramped space, leaving it to drip from the walls and stain the ground scarlet.

He is not only a collector of magical artifacts, but a collector of queens, as well. The music box is the only thing unmarred by the red, so she steals it back.

She swears she can hear him howling the whole trip.

Bluebelle doesn’t tell Victoria what happens. She tells her to steer clear of the cat who could very be Bluebelle’s father, with a coat as vibrant as the sea, and Victoria doesn’t ask any questions.

Bluebelle doesn’t want to meet any of the other jellicles after that. She barely wants to talk to anyone ever again, with the exception of the few cats she already knows.

She and Victoria still dance to the music box though. Misto tries to follow along.

Despite Cobb being the one who insisted on the job and assembled the team, Arthur is the real glue of the group that keeps all of them together. Or most of them at least.

Because we see Saito mostly talking with just Cobb, and we never see Yusuf interact with anyone outside of a strictly professional relationship. We only infer his friendship with Eames by the fact that they knew each other already , but that's that, and he was argusbly in a weird position, having to keep Cobb's secret about the compound and what not, so socializing probably wasn't high in his list of priorities.

And yet, even with Yusuf, Arthur is the only character other than Eames (which he knew already) who feels it's alright to tease him for making his dream level rain. That little comedic scene between the 2 of them is a little treasure, that speaks, to me at least, of how comfortable the 3 have become with each other while testing the compounds. So Arthur, who had never seen Yusuf before, manages to strike up some sort of bond with the elusive chemist.

Then we have Arthur & Cobb. Their bond is pretty self-explanatory, Arthur is established as Cobb's friend and right-hand man since the very beginning, though we see that bond starting to crack under the pressure of the situation; and Arthur also knew Mal and thought she was lovely, so there's that too.

Arthur is also Ari's mentor and the one she can rely on for information and for stability in a way. They spent time alone and formed a bond of respect and trust and appreciation in that time. We don't see her interact one-on-one with anyone else but Arthur and Cobb, and with Cobb she was actually the one who helped him, and she did it by sheer stubborness against his resistence, but Arthur was the one team member she could go to when she was the one who needed help.

And last but not least, Arthur's relationship with Eames. It's romantic, we all believe it, the subtext is mind-blowing. But even without considering that aspect, they've been built as two characters with history, two characters that definitely knew each other from before and had already formed some sort of bond between them. It can also be inferred Arthur’s presence is at least one of the reasons Eames accepted the job, and Cobb made sure to mention him for that exact reason. They argued and bantered most of their screentime together, but they clearly enjoyed the interaction. If there was any real animosity it wouldn't have been so schoolboy-ish playful, or they would have ignored each other, instead the job prep is like 80% them. And if that wasn't enough there are those beautiful beautiful scenes that hint of some deeper actual friendship between them, the 'darling' one, and especially the 'security's gonna run you down hard', which spoke of actual care between them behind all the bluster of their relationship as we saw it till that moment. (but I'm digressing a little here)

No other character has such clear interactions with everyone else, only Arthur takes the time to get to know everyone, because to pull off a job like that, any job actually since they go into each other's minds, there needs to be a modicum of trust. And yes maybe he took that time for professional ethic, because he likes to run a smooth household, or because he needs to see if people really are trustworthy, or maybe it's just Arthur being Arthur, but he's still the only one who cared enough to take the time to get to know everyone and form a bond, tying them all together by more than a paycheck.

thinking about the way most of My social circle sided with Me when I was berated for My narcissism, there's this obvious grandiose urge to just go "heh..that's just where being likeable gets you."

but the unfortunate thing is that society's idea of what makes a person "likeable" is based in no small part on them showing few-to-no signs of social disability, including personality diagnosis.

I have multiple social disabilities, but none of them stand out too much: I'm a covert narcissist, I'm a mostly recovered avoidant, My schizophrenia is almost always in partial remission, and My autism often just looks like eccentricity unless a situation calls for a social skill that I just plain don't have.

I definitely got out of the situation well because I'm likeable, but not necessarily because I'm a good person. unfortunately, there are many other people who have been mistreated for their diagnoses who were seen as being "in the wrong," simply because they externalized a bit too much.

would I have been supported if I made it clear that I thought I was better than everyone else, and that I wasn't just being silly and ironic? would I have been supported if I were overtly attention-seeking? would I have been supported if I didn't balance staying out of situations where others were being comforted out of jealousy and hypoempathy with engaging anyway? the answer is almost definitely no.

I'm absolutely well-liked, but I wish whether or not someone "deserves" to be on the receiving end of bigotry wasn't determined so much by if they were fitting in beforehand.

Tell me more about the worst things about the rationalists? The point about “you are experiencing a feeling as though you’re having an insight” (sorry don’t have your exact wording in front of me) is sort of giving me a light bulb moment re: their whole thing

so... the answer is at least kind of "yes, i can do that", but in attempting to answer your question i found myself writing several thousand words of explanation about who i think "rationalists" even describes anymore/ever, why i've encountered them and what my background is, etc, so if you'd like to write back clarifying your own knowledge of/level of interaction with internet rationalism that might help me cut out some of the thousands of words of historical context. regardless i'll think about it and try to figure out which takes i think i'm actually qualified to air in public/which will be meaningful to anyone less immersed in weird rat history inside baseball than i am
