movie — spencer reid
pairing : spencer reid x fem!reader ( no use of y/n ) summary: spencer accidentally uses the word "we" content warnings: secret relationship , rossi playfully getting mad at reader , mention of closed case a/n: me and emily share the same opinion
Tumblr media
The weight of the case you had just wrapped up still lingered, but for once, it wasn’t suffocating. You had saved the victim—just in time. It was the kind of win that made the exhaustion a little easier to bear, the long hours and dark realities a little more worth it.
You sat across from Spencer in the jet, your legs subtly interlocked with his beneath the table—not obvious but enough to feel content.
He held a book in his hands, fingers resting against the worn spine, but his eyes weren’t on the pages. Instead, he was listening as the team engaged in a heated debate over movies.
"The Thing is a must-watch movie,” Rossi declared, leaning back in his seat with the confidence of a man who had lived long enough to know a classic when he saw one. “I mean, come on—it’s a masterpiece.”
Emily scoffed, arms crossed. “It’s just a bunch of paranoid guys stuck in the snow. Half of them barely have personalities.”
“That’s what makes it brilliant,” Spencer interjected, his voice slipping into the conversation as easily as he slipped into statistics. “The isolation, the uncertainty of who’s human and who’s not—it’s a perfect study of paranoia. The ambiguity of the ending only adds to the tension.”
You bit your lip to keep from smiling. That was Spencer—effortlessly brilliant, unknowingly endearing.
Derek chuckled. “And here we go with the movie analytics.”
Spencer smiled apologetically but didn’t say anything, instead he shifted slightly in his seat. His knee pressed a little more firmly against yours. You smiled softly at your boyfriend.
As the conversation continued, you watched Spencer’s fingers absently trace the edges of his book.
“What’s your opinion on it?” Derek asked, nodding at you. You had been quiet throughout the discussion, content to listen rather than participate.
You shrugged, feeling everyone’s attention shifting to you. “Don’t have one,” you admitted casually.
Derek raised a brow. “How do you not have an opinion?”
“I’ve never watched it.”
The moment the words left your mouth, you felt the entire mood in the jet shift. Rossi let out an exaggerated sigh, shaking his head in what could only be described as theatrical disappointment.
“This generation,” Rossi muttered under his breath, exasperated.
You raised your eyebrows at him. “Is it really that big of a deal?”
Spencer, who had been quiet until now, suddenly shifted his leg against yours—just a small movement, but enough to catch your attention. When you glanced at him, he met your gaze with a look of utter disbelief.
“Yes,” he said simply, siding with the rest of the team without hesitation.
Even Emily, who had just been trashing the movie moments ago, nodded in agreement. “Yeah, you kind of have to watch it at least once. It’s a cultural milestone.”
“I just don’t see the appeal,” you said, shrugging.
Rossi let out another dramatic sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose as if you had personally offended him. “Young lady, I expect you to watch this movie in the next three days—at the very least. And if you don’t—” He turned to Hotch, completely serious. “Aaron, I want you to fire her.”
You laughed quietly, shaking your head at the absurdity of it all. “Unbelievable,” you muttered, glancing around at your teammates, who still looked thoroughly scandalized.
Before you could protest further, Spencer spoke up, his voice calm and matter-of-fact. “We can watch it tomorrow if you want.”
The second the words left his mouth, you felt your entire body freeze. Slowly, you turned to look at him, eyes wide.
Spencer, who had seemed completely unaware of his slip-up, only realized what he had just said when he saw your expression. His lips parted slightly as if he was about to backtrack, but then he clamped his mouth shut, looking like he wanted to disappear into his chair.
For a split second, there was silence—thick, heavy, and dangerous.
And then—
“What?” Derek’s voice cut through the air, loud and full of suspicion.
Without thinking, you kicked Spencer lightly under the table, your foot making solid but harmless contact with his shin. He flinched slightly, but to his credit, he barely reacted otherwise, keeping his face neutral even as you shot him a look that screamed really?
Morgan narrowed his eyes, shifting his gaze between the two of you. “We?” he echoed, emphasizing the word.
Emily leaned forward, suddenly interested. “Yeah, Reid. We?”
Spencer cleared his throat, clearly trying to recover. “I—I just meant—hypothetically, if she wanted someone to watch it with, I—”
“You’d volunteer as tribute?” Emily teased, smirking.
“I mean—statistically speaking, it’s more enjoyable to experience a film with someone rather than alone,” Spencer rushed out, his voice just a little too high, a little too fast.
You resisted the urge to groan. He was not helping.
Rossi, who had been watching the exchange like it was an unfolding plot twist in one of his own novels, suddenly smirked. “Interesting.”
Hotch, the only one who hadn’t reacted much, simply raised an eyebrow before going back to his paperwork. Which, honestly, was more terrifying than if he had said something.
You exhaled, shaking your head, trying to brush it off. “Alright, movie night it is,” you said, forcing a casual tone.
The team was still watching the two of you suspiciously, but after a few moments, they slowly let it go—well, for now.
Under the table, Spencer nudged your foot in silent apology. You sighed, nudging him back.
This was not going to be the last you heard about it.

۶ৎ: "c'mon sweetie, tell us what you want." beomgyu's voice dripped with lechery as he spoke with a sexy tone. both of them looked down at you menacingly, waiting for you to speak. "we don't have all day"
Tumblr media

⌗ lexi adds! - this one made me... feel something. I'd be the same as reader if I was in this situation :3 also ty to anon for sending this yummy request!! also might be inaccurate cos I've never been to an actual band concert ;( not proofread!
Tumblr media
your favourite band was coming to town, how could you not go?
so here you were, amidst the crowd of eager fans in the front row waiting for the members to come out and begin the concert. music videos of the band display on the big screens as the fans sing along to the songs.
once the last music video ends, it's silence. and suddenly, the lights go dark, signalling that the concert was beginning. roars and shouts began to join together as the members walked on stage, looking better than ever as the bright lights focused on their forms, positioning themselves in front of their designated instuments and microphones.
you looked at them in awe, taking your time to admire each member.
yeonjun, a confident guy who was also the main singer began to sing their newest song while the other vocalist stood beside him. taehyun sang with yeonjun, their voices harmonizing with such beauty that you and the crowd couldn't help but cheer for them. behind them was kai on the drums, his amazing drumming skills working amazingly with power and rhythm.
when you turned to taehyun's right, you saw soobin, a tall guy towering over his keyboard, his eyes focusing on each of the notes played.
finally, your gaze reaches beomgyu, who was right beside soobin. your eyes widened as you realized that beomgyu was a looking straight at you, a smirk adorning his face as his fingers worked on the strings of his bass guitar. he elbowed soobin gently and nodded toward you for soobin to look. you watched as his eyes searched for you, the person who beomgyu already had eyes on.
you made eye contact with him, smiling eagerly at the fact that two of the band members were gazing at you. they smile back and you wave your glow stick with power that had been given to you by the other fans before everyone was inside the venue.
beomgyu doesn't hesitate to laugh at how excited you were. finding it cute that you were acting like that just for them. you felt like your heart could just melt on the spot.
It went on like this throughout out the concert. of course, you had interactions with the other three members; a high five from yeonjun, a wave from taehyun, and a wink from kai, but soobin and beomgyu gave you the most attention.
you knew that getting the expensive front row tickets was worth it at this point. you were having the time of your life right now.
⸝⸝
then the concert came to an end. fans flooded the exits of the venue, buying merch and grabbing extra banners to keep as memories.
you followed behind the big crowd, about to walk through the doors of the venue when you hear a slightly muffled "excuse me" from behind you. when you turn around you realize you were stopped by a staff member.
you thought you were in some kind of trouble but what could have you done wrong? certainly nothing, right? "um... is there something wrong?" you stammered on your words as you spoke, a bit anxious for their response.
"come with me" the staff spoke with such bluntness, saying no more but turning around and starting to walk. hesitantly, you follow behind, your mind full of scepticism as they lead you to a part of venue you had never been to before.
finally, you reach a door, the room is labelled as "green room"
and then it hit you, this was where the group waited before going on stage. why were you being taken here? "uh- I don't have the vip ticket..." the staff leaves your words unanswered and opens the door, holding it and waiting for you to enter. you quickly do, not wanting to leave the staff waiting. "is there some kind of mistake?"
you couldn't see the staff's face, half of it covered by a white mask but you could tell they were getting tired of you, "do you want to see the members or not?"
"I'm seeing the members?" your eyes widened in surprise from the staff's words, completely bewildered.
before you could look at the staff member again, they left the room, leaving you to figure it out yourself. so you stood there, gripping your purse nervously as you await for the members of your favourite band to appear. you were so tense at this point, overthinking everything. thinking of what to say to them, how to act, and if you looked good right then and there.
before you could even check yourself in a mirror, the members came out, but only two; soobin and beomgyu.
they smirked when they saw how still you stood from shock. beomgyu chuckled softly, "what are you? some kind of statue?" his tone was joking yet sweet, just how you had imagined it. this felt like a dream. everything felt so surreal you wondered if you were even alive.
"uh no-" you stuttered and quickly fixed your stance.
"you're cute" soobin said, his hands leaving from his pockets as he crossed his arms over his chest. they both looked so menacing in front of you, they were even better looking up close.
they started walking closer and you didn't know what to do. your thoughts were running through your head like a bullet train and you felt the heat of their bodies radiate off of them ever so slightly when they were close enough.
beomgyu ran a finger softly across your jawline and cheek and suddenly, heat ran up to your face, your cheeks immediately turning to a pink hue, spreading like blush. of course, this was a normal reaction when your celebrity crush was this close to you and even caressing your face.
"when I saw you in the crowd... " he began, his tone in a low and soft growl "i couldn't help but think of how hot you were." you blush even harder than before at his words. you couldn't believe it. dressing to impress was definitely the way to go for the concert and it was paying off. you look at his face, only to see his eyes glued onto your slight anxious look on your face, a smirk running along his face as his eyes deepen into yours, creating some kind of romantic feel in the air.
"do you want to do us a favor? " soobin asked, his voice less menacing than beomgyu's. you nod your head, causing both of them to grin. "good, tell us what you want from us."
"what I want..? " you repeat his question, a bit confused of what he was implying.
"okay, let's make this easier for you to understand." soobin gripped your shoulders and pushed you down, making you get on your knees in front of them. you could feel your body heating up as you tried not to gaze at the bulges in their pants.
"c'mon sweetie, tell us what you want." beomgyu's voice dripped with lechery as he spoke with a sexy tone. both of them looked down at you menacingly, waiting for you to speak. "we don't have all day"
"I-I don't know..." you stammered over your words, the scene getting overwhelming.
"then we'll just have to ask you, don't we?" beomgyu put his hands in the pockets of his jeans while soobin moved a hand to softly rub your hair affectionately. "do you want our dicks?" he spat out with no filter and soobin chuckled under his breath when he saw the way your eyes widened.
"don't ask her, just give it to her." soobin said, leading both of them to unzip and unbutton their pants. you moved your gaze to the floor, not wanting to look like a pervert.
"hey, look up." beomgyu commanded , gripping your chin with his thumb and pointer finger to make you look up, their dicks both hard and hanging right in front of your face. they each griped their base with one hand.
"oldest goes first, hm?" soobin said, pushing beomgyu to the side softly before gripping your head. you looked at the monster that they expected to fit in your mouth: a long and girthy cock, his tip a pulsing sweet pink, veins running along the length with big and heavy balls. just looking at it alone made your throat want to close up.
soobin looked down at you with soft and gentle eyes, making you calm down a bit. he caressed your head again, fond of your pretty features. "you're so pretty," he said, admiring the scene for a few more seconds "just signal me when you can't take it anymore, okay?" his words of reassurance made you nod, a small smile adorning his face and he placed his satiny tip against your pursed lips. when you felt comfortable enough, your parted them, his dick making it's way into your mouth slowly.
soobin couldn't help but groan at the feeling of your mouth enveloping him with so much warmth. "just like that..." he mumbled under his breath, his eyes closed shut as he enjoyed the moment.
he thrusted into your mouth, making sure to not hurt you or go to hard, just the right speed, allowing both you and him to enjoy it.
when soobin spoke, his tone was of embarrassment "fuck, I'm gonna cum already... you're gonna swallow like a good girl, right baby?" you nodded a bit to eagerly at his words, sucking even harder than before, causing him to hiss. "take it, baby..." his cum shot into your throat and your felt him pull out with a pop. your mouth felt so full and sticky but you swallow, opening your mouth to show him. "such a good girl..."
suddenly beomgyu cuts into the moment "get over here." he said as he signalled toward the gray couch that decorated the minimalistic room. soobin helped you off your knees and you both walked toward him. you sat down next to beomgyu and he began taking your top off, catching you off guard. he smirks at your expression "what? thought you'd only be here to suck dick? you're in for a ride."
he pulled your shirt over your head, throwing it on the floor and leaving you in only your bra and skirt. his actions followed with him ripping off the other pieces of clothing from your body and having them all in a built up pile.
and that was when they began staring in admiration, taking in every inch of your body. "fuck, you're beautiful..." soobin said, moving his hand up your waist to cup one of your breasts, sitting on the opposite side of you, allowing beomgyu to do the same.
both of them rubbed their thumbs over your hardening nipples, the touch on your sensitive skin, causing you to whimper.
"what? do you like this?" beomgyu asked a bit harshly, moving his finger away to lean down and place his lips tightly around your bud, sucking lightly and running his tongue over it.
sounds of ecstasy rolled off your tongue when you feel both of them sucking on each of your nipples, the lewd scene seeming so vulgar and full of lust.
beomgyu's hand discreetly slid down your body, feeling each of the curves and dips of your form before reaching your embarrassingly wet folds, the amount of slick enough to wet the couch. he ran his lanky and long fingers along them, the wetness coating with digits with ease from how wet you were.
his lips left your nipple, the cold breeze hitting your nipple like an iceberg as you shivered. your eyes screwed shut once he rammed two of his fingers inside your hole, the stretch a bit painful from how long you had anything inside you. you could just hear and imagine the look on beomgyu's face as he chuckled ominously at the way your face contorted with pleasure as his fingers pumped in and out of you aggressively. only the wet sounds of the fingering and the somewhat loud noises that escaped past your lips were audible.
"fuck, you like being pleasured by two men don't you? such an attention whore..." beomgyu stated, his other hand creeping up from your breast and to your neck, he didn't apply any pressure but the threat still lingered in the air. "hyung, get your phone, would you?"
soobin detached his lips from your chest and went to another room for his phone. beomgyu smirked at the opportunity he had here. he picked you up with ease and placed your over the armrest of the couch, your back arched as your hands gripped the armrest. a shaky breath left your mouth and you felt the tip of beomgyu's cock prod against the rim of your hole, drawing a circle around it repeatedly.
you parted your lips to say something but the only thing that escaped were whines. beomgyu leaned in next to your ear, his breathing warm against your neck and earlobe. "you're whining?" he questioned, his tone sinister and dangerous as he spoke. "why are you instead of telling me what you want, hm?" his hand reached your throat once more, applying the pressure that he hadn't applied last time. "say what you, beg for it like a whore."
when you spoke, you had sounded this desperate and needy ever if your life. "need y-your dick... pleasure beomgyu..."
another low chuckle came from beomgyu, his words and questions never failing to leave you wanting more. "hm? need this fat cock inside of you?" you nod a bit more eagerly than needed and yelp when a his other hand is brought down hard to your ass unexpectedly. "I don't that's enough begging, is it? doesn't seem like you'll be having dick anytime soon"
tears began to adorn the rims of your eyes, threatening to fall from your lashes as you begged even harder, "please! p-put it inside of me! even if it's just the tip...!" your voice was failing to keep the tears a secret which only turned beomgyu on even more.
his eyes seemed to have soften for a while, but just how quickly they softened, they turned and went back to the fierce look of lust "that's more like it baby..." you shriek when he smacks your ass again and lets only his fat bulbous tip push inside of your awaiting hole, the stretch so good your eyes almost rolled to the back of your head and your breath quiver.
soobin came back into the room, one hand holding his phone while the other still held a grip at the base of his cock, his fingers able to wrap around it with ease unlike your mouth. he rolled his eyes at beomgyu already having his turn with you, "you really can't play fair in anything can you? I wasn't finished. "
"don't worry, she's not even getting dick yet... I'm just waiting until she snaps." and with that, he slid his tip out of you, leaving your hoke to be clenching around nothing.
desperate and pathetic, you whine again, the tears finally falling down your face. "put it back in-!" you cry out, moving your hand behind you to possibly put his dick inside you yourself. beomgyu sees this, quickly gripping your wrist with such force you swear it could've stopped your blood circulation.
"what the fuck do you think you're doing?" the sterness in his voice didn't fail to scare you, your arm weak against his as you give up trying to get what you want. "that's not how things are given." he throws your hand back onto the arm rest where it was. "hyung, get a picture of her face, I bet she looks pathetic as hell right now, just like a whore would be."
soobin nods and moves in front of you, panning the phone down to an angle where your whole face was visible through the camera app. he was taking the picture with one hand, the other jerked himself off. he spoke to you softly unlike beomgyu, "chin up baby, let me see your pretty face. he's not hurting you, right?"
you shake your head, letting him capture your vulnerable form displayed before them. just as he took the pictures, you feel beomgyu's dick surge into you and thrust relentlessly causing you to yelp and cry out, "t-too fast!"
soobin smiled and placed his dick against your lips again, prodding them open. you look at him, your eyes shimmering from the tears you had shed and he nodded, leading you take in his cock once more as you moaned and whimpered from the speed beomgyu was going.
beomgyu smacked your ass again, causing you to lunge forward and choke on soobin's dick, taking it in deeper than you had the previous time. your muffled moans not reaching their ears from how soobin's dick muted you.
"f-fuck... beomgyu let me have my turn. oh shit-" soobin huffed out, knowing that his climax was close. but beomgyu was still thrusting into you, in a completely different world, eyes closed as he continued to pound into you.
he pulled out of your mouth abruptly, a string of saliva stretching and snapping as he made his way behind you. he pushed beomgyu aside, the feeling of both of your holes being empty making you whine once more.
beomgyu lets out a long annoyed sigh, not liking how you were acting like a brat. he moved in front of you where soobin had been, lifting your chin harshly and looking at the pouty look on your face, finding it cute yet frustrating at the same time. "one second without dick and you're already starting to whine. you're lucky you're getting two instead of one" he grabs his dick and signals you to suck. slowly but surely, you tongue wraps and swirls around the tip of his dick; its smaller than soobin's, but it was super thick, the girth left you in shock.
beomgyu threw his head back as his adam's apple bobbed up and down from his heavy pleasured breaths. and again, you're surprised when soobin slams into you from behind, his dick reaching even deeper than beomgyu's.
soobin groaned behind you, gripping your hips as he thrusted in and out, "I wasn't going to let beomgyu have this all to himself... tell me if it hurts, okay pretty?" his reassuring words cause you to nod while sucking beomgyu off, small kitten licks given to the slit of his tip before beomgyu gripped the back of your head and pushed you down, forcing you to take him down your throat.
his fingers wrap around your hair and grip it tight and he guides your head along his shaft, pleasuring himself to the max as you tightened your cheeks. "oh fuck, of course a whore like you has experience with sucking dick, hm? fucking take it...!" without warning, his cum shoots down your throat just like soobin's had.
your moans and whimpers continue as you swallow and soobin fucks into you harder in order to chase his climax. the wet lewd sounds of skin slapping on skin echoed in the room along with their heavy breathing and your moaning. the tickle of his balls hitting your clit made you shudder and twitch.
"hmph! I'm cumming...!" you cried out, gripping the couches arm rest as if your life depended on her it.
"oh no you don't" beomgyu spoke sternly as he stared into your eyes, "brats like you don't cum until he cums."
you trembled as you tried to hold in your cum, feeling as if you'd pop like a balloon. A flash from the camera shot in your face, another picture captured for memories. each thrust of soobin's had you so close to cumming just by the way his dick pressed and kissed your cervix, sending you into a spiral of pleasure.
finally, you heard as his breath grew heavier and quicker, a signal of his incoming climax. he hissed as he pressed his hips against yours and he completely buried himself inside of you before his cum shot out. you cum right after him, listening to beomgyu's words and cumming all over his cock.
"that's it baby... you did so well for us... " he leaned in forward, pressing a kiss to your shoulder. soobin pulled out, taken a picture of the way your mixed cum spilled out of your hole and onto the couch.
beomgyu tilted your head upwards, his lips finding their way to yours as he kissed you with a bit of pressure.
both of them put their dicks back into their pants, zipping up and standing in front of you. soobin patted your butt lightly telling you to "get dressed". they kept the same smirk on their faces as they watched you pick up your clothes piece by piece. soobin spoke in a proud tone, "I guess we picked the right person to come backstage." his statement caused beomgyu to laugh with pride before speaking.
"I hope you enjoyed your vip experience, this won't be the last time."

timeless
Tumblr media
18+. mdni. smut. mentions of drugs. no use of y/n!
you find yourself back in hawkins, with nothing but your grandad’s old diner and a bunch of conflicted feelings about your old best friend, can you say goodbye to him all over again?
a/n: set in the 80s but also the 50s idk i just wanted that old timey feeling pretty long fic i was originally going to split up but decided against.. hope you read it and enjoy anyway:)
⋆ and you were headed off to fight in the war, you still would’ve been mine, we would’ve been timeless ⋆
⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆
hawkins was really the end of the road for you.
deserting the dreams of the big city to come right back to where it had all started.
it had been years since you’d stepped foot in this town, not much had changed since then, if you were completely honest.
still the same old shitty, rundown dump it always was.
eternally grateful that your grandad still owned the old diner at the other end of town, meaning you’d flounced right into a job and somewhere to stay once you’d packed your bags and left new york behind.
it’s nothing like the office used to be, barely seeing a dozen customers a day, only if you were lucky. but it was nice, a change in pace after the hustle and bustle of the city.
the radio hums on quietly in the background, a couple of regulars sit sipping their coffee at various tables. they did this day in, day out. drink coffee, complain about some mundane new issue they had with the town and then shuffle off back to their homes.
it didn’t exactly seem like your idea of fun.
there’s a bang from outside, metal hitting the ground and a chorus of laughter pulling all attention to the back of the kitchen.
you don’t hang around, barrelling through the kitchen to just about catch the gaggle of kids sprinting off down the road leaving behind their cans of spray paint and a delightful new mural on the back wall.
“what the fuck?” screaming out after them though it’s really no use, they’d already gone.
exasperated that in the seven years you’d been gone, the kids hadn’t changed a bit.
you slink back inside, immediately reaching for the phone, hoping that maybe the police had gotten a little better since you’d left.
though you hold no hope, if they were anything like they were when you were a misfit teen, you’re screwed.
-
the sun had set, the regulars had scurried off home and now it was just you and the crude painting on the wall. hours and hours of waiting for someone to get out to you.
only for the patrol car to rattle up into the parking lot, just as you had given up all hope.
you storm out of the building, infuriated by the nonchalant attitude hawkins police still seemed to hold, “oh, how nice of you to come! i only called three-,” stopping dead in your tracks as the man exits his vehicle.
you still completely, frozen to your spot, blinking rapidly in disbelief.
eddie fucking munson stands, with his thumbs hooked into his belt, at the door of his patrol car. hawkins police department uniform to boot, a complete shell of the man you had known years ago.
“when’d you blow in?” he asks innocuously, slamming the door shut. a new found confidence, or maybe it was cockiness, in his stride.
“last week,” still coming to grips with the fact that the man stood before you was the same nerdy metal head you were once inseparable with, “when’d you become a cop?”
out of all the possible occupations you could’ve imagined eddie munson in, cop would’ve been dead last on that list. in fact, inmate was several dozens of spots higher.
he chuckles, realising how ridiculous it must look, “few years ago,” he’s close now, close enough that you can see his long black curls peeking out the back of his hat, “didn’t know you were coming back, i would’ve been quicker if i’d have known it was you.”
you scoff, very much doubting that, “you should’ve been here hours ago anyway,” beckoning him to the back of the building, no time for reunions while you had a diner plastered in lewd drawings.
“these fuckin’ kids,” you huff, shaking your head like a scolding old lady, “look at it,” motioning at the hideous spray painting they’d vandalised the entire back wall with, “if you were here on time, you might’ve been able to catch ‘em,” turning your displeased scowl to eddie.
the corner of his lips twitches, creeping into a full smile. only angering you further.
“what? d’you think this is funny?”
he shakes his head, cautiously meeting your eye, “no, it’s just.. pretty sure we got taken to the station for doin’ this behind melvalds,” his shoulders shaking as he chuckles.
you stand, straight faced, the irony wasn’t lost on you, it just didn’t feel like a laughing matter.
“are you joking? no, really? you’re serious?” rubbing your fingers viciously over the dried paint, “you can paint this shit since it’s so funny to you.”
“alright alright,” eddie soothes, “i’ll help you paint it,” eyeing the large canvas he’d now been tasked to paint.
“no,” you frown, “i said you can paint it, i’m not helping you.”
he smiles, teeth peeking out from his lips, “you get the paint and i’ll do it, deal?”
driving such a hard bargain, it’s almost impossible not to fall at his feet and sarcastically thank him for his help.
“fine, deal.”
“great,” he beams, “now how about some coffee?”
“we’re closed.”
he exhales, pursing his lips slightly, “please?”
-
eddie blabbers on about the vagrant youths in hawkins, how just yesterday he was dragging some boy by the scruff of his neck back to his parents.
it’s all great, exhilarating stuff really. except, you can’t help but let your mind wander, noting his lack of visible tattoos and a ripped up band tee.
and then further down onto his wedding ring.
wedding ring?
“you’re married?” you blurt out, staring at the plain band on his fourth finger. eddie munson, married. a feat you had never thought possible.
“huh?” following your gaze down to his hand, “oh, no,” sliding the silver band from his finger, “it’s the only one they’d let me wear.”
his fingers once adorned with various rings and shoddy stick and poke tattoos, now plain and simple with only the shadows of once black markings.
“oh,” looking back at his face, “i don’t like it,” shaking your head as if you had any real say on his jewellery, “doesn’t feel like you.”
eddie takes a sip of coffee, looking just through you, rather than at you, “maybe this is the new me.”
you ponder, wondering whether you should get as equally profound as he was, “maybe.. still don’t like it,” turning to slide the rest of the dirty plates through the hatch, “when’d you decide to become a traitor anyway?”
eddie chuckles loudly, the walkie on his shirt crackling incoherently, “a few years ago, it was either this or jail so..”
“how was it between this or jail? what the hell d’you do?” motioning to his iron pressed getup.
he sighs, looking down into his mug, “hopper caught me selling at the high school.. not just weed but,” he nods, making a circular gesture with his hand, “like, real hard shit..” sighing softly again as his eyes meet yours, “he told me that he could turn me in and i’d be lucky to get a couple years, or he could get me a job down the station and we could forget all about it.”
you can’t help the pang of guilt from seeping across your chest. you’d left pretty abruptly in ‘89, much to eddie’s defiance, leaving him to a  town full of people that either hated him or only acknowledged his existence when he was useful to them.
there’s no question as to whether your departure was anything to do with him peddling hard drugs, that was a given.
“well shit,” the frown between your brows deepening, “i’m sorry for opening my mouth,” brushing your hands down your apron, hoping that he would see the funny side.
eddie just shrugs, sliding the empty coffee mug back over the polished wood top, “it’s alright, i don’t mind it actually, not much happens in hawkins anyway.”
“i wouldn’t say that,” you frown, deciding that the mug would simply have to wait until tomorrow to clean, “there’s a bunch of ugly graffiti on the side of my diner,” quirking your brow, hoping it’ll serve as a reminder to why you’d even called him up here in the first place.
his eyes sparkle in the dim light, creasing with contained laughter, “i told you i’ll paint it,” his chair scrapes across the wooden floor, straightening his hat, “where’re you staying now anyway? need a ride?”
you shake your head, looking back at the clock, “i’m at my grandpa’s for the time being.. he should be here soon,” silently praying that he’d arrive so you weren’t forced to ride in the back seat of his patrol car.
certain people would have plenty to say about that for sure.
“alright well.. i’ll see you later,” saluting with his two fingers as he leaves.
an indescribable feeling settles in your stomach. somewhere between melancholy and regret.
maybe things would’ve been different if you’d stayed.
maybe not.
that’s what makes you the most unsettled, it’s a sick nostalgia for something that never even happened.
a question that had plagued you for the past seven years, one you’ll probably never know the answer to either.
you brush whatever wistful, reminiscent reflections out of your mind, turning the lights off to wait for your ride in the mellow july evening instead.
-
the coffee machine hums, the only thing in this place that seemed to be used consistently. forced to make hundreds of bland black coffees for crony old men day in, day out.
that’s how bored this place had you, pondering the feeling of the inanimate coffee machine. jesus christ.
time creaks on by, ticking slowly as the sun clears off and the night settles in. one more hour and you’d be on your way home, ready for another night of re-runs and a stale tv-dinner with your grandad.
you couldn’t complain really, he’d been extremely welcoming, sorting your own little bedroom out for you in his unused office.
tires screech into the parking lot, crunching on the gravel, alerting you to that damned patrol car pulling up again.
you watch as he does his little routine, strolling into the diner with a tiny smile, sidling up to the counter with such an air of self-importance, it actually makes you a little sick.
“you come to paint the wall?” you quip, offering nothing but a tight lipped smile back.
he clicks his tongue against the back of his teeth, “uh.. no, coffee actually,” pointing to the used and abused machine.
“hmph,” shaking your head, “you promised.”
“yeah and i’m gonna do it,” holding his hands up, admitting that this was a battle he had already lost, “tell you what, i’m free all day next saturday, you get the paint and i’ll be here.”
you don’t believe him, you have no reason to but alas, you nod anyway, “you better or you can kiss this friendship goodbye.”
eddie grins, splaying his palms out flat as he shrugs, “so how about that coffee?”
-
eddie makes sure to stop in every single day this week. and next. often for hours at a time until his walkie dragged him away and back to the work he’d been ignoring.
like clockwork, his car crunches over the gravel, swinging in to the same spot without fail.
nobody even looks twice as the bell rings, too invested in the financial times to spare a second of their attention.
“you’re here an awful lot,” raising your brows, sliding your notebook back into your apron.
eddie shrugs, placing his hat onto the counter, “what can i say? i like the coffee,” smiling innocently as he takes his seat.
“oh i’m sure,” rolling your eyes in return, grabbing a mug and pouring his coffee before gently sliding it over the bar.
he stays until close tonight, lingering behind as you lock up, no doubt pretending to offer some sort of protection though you’re absolutely sure that you’d be more capable of fighting off any potential threats than he’d ever be.
you look at your watch, knowing your grandad should’ve been here by now. it was a long, treacherous walk back to his place, not exactly something you wanted to tackle at ten pm either.
“you need a ride?” eddie asks, standing at his car with his keys in his hand.
you press your lips together, taking another look at the ticking clock face on your wrist, “if you’re going that way, that’d be great.”
his eyes roll back, knowing that even if he were driving to the other side of the country, he’d still take you home first, “c’mon,” opening the passenger door as you begrudgingly slink over.
he certainly keeps his car in better condition than he ever kept his beat up, old van. sometimes it felt like you’d die from dust inhalation than his shoddy driving.
“they give you this for free?” you ask, admiring the plush leather seats.
“yup,” tapping his fingers against the steering wheel, “pay for the gas too.”
“wowww,” feigning amazement, “you’ve got it good.”
he glances over, scowling just so, unappreciative of your sarcasm, “who’s the one with a driving license and a car here? because it’s not you.”
your mouth falls open, blinking rapidly at his terrible attempt at a joke, “ouch okay,” hoping he’d regret his callousness, though it wasn’t likely.
“i offered to teach you.. you could’ve been on the road by now,” his eyes leaving the road every other second, fingers itching to rest on your knee.
“pffft. driving lessons from you? i’d rather walk.”
you wish he’d just do it, his hands were twitchy, begging to make contact.
they don’t.
keeping on the steering wheel instead.
but he chuckles, low and grumbly, “dustin didn’t wanna learn with me either for some reason.”
“oh wow yeah, i wonder,” turning to stare blankly at the side of his head.
he glances over, shaking his head before turning back to the road, “you’re so mean,” throwing out a pathetic pout.
the car rolls onto the familiar street, an unwilling sinking in your gut that the journey was over too soon.
eddie taps the wheel, peering out of the window at the decaying row of houses, “jeez,” air blowing out of his lips, “hasn’t changed a bit.”
you shake your head, wanting to stay in the car just a bit longer, “nope..” emphasising the ‘p’ as you follow his eye to the splintering door.
he nods, still staring straight ahead rather than daring to meet your eye, “i’m really glad you’re back,” his fingers playing a repetitive tune on the leather, “i feel like i’ve been waiting for you to come home for so long now that i wasn’t sure if you ever would.”
you hadn’t ever planned on it.
dreams of new york had filled your mind for as long as you can remember.
that was supposed to be it.
and at the start it really did seem like you’d spend the rest of your life there. but a string of tumultuous relationships and an awful
boss had forced you back to hawkins.
“i didn’t think i was ever gonna,” sighing softly, “i’m sorry for just.. leavin’ you,” turning unexpectedly bashful, “i thought about you all the time you know? new york’s not really that great but i think you would’ve made it better,” feeling the heat soar to your cheeks.
it was true, at least, at the start. you’d often find yourself wondering about what eddie was up to or if he was thinking of you too.
“don’t apologise for that,” shaking his head, “i get it. if i coulda, i woulda done it too. you’ll have to show me around one day when i’m-,” clearing his throat, “when i’m not stuck at work.”
he sounds off, something hidden in his tone that you really don’t understand. the moment too tender to query it too much, apprehensive to change the subject just as things had started to feel normal again.
“i can do that,” turning to eddie to find him already gazing back. “you gotta give me a tour of the station first though, it’s only fair.”
“deal,” eddie nods, offering his hand out for you to shake.
you do it, not acknowledging his clammy palm or the way his fingers are shaking just so.
“alright,” you nod, breaking the tension, “i better go, you’ve gotta busy day tomorrow,” reminding him of your long-awaited agreement.
“wait-,” grabbing ahold of your fingers before you’re able to climb fully out of the car.
you turn, eyebrow raised, “what?”
he’s been so strange all night, like he’s edging to say something
“uhm.. what time did you say again?”
you blink, baffled by his outburst, “uh.. anytime in the afternoon, i’ll close up early and come and help.”
“o-okay yeah perfect,” letting go of your fingers.
your face contorts but you keep your thoughts to yourself, he was pretty peculiar at the best of times, this was no exception.
“goodnight eds,” finally closing the door, leaving him to his confusing little stupor.
-
eddie’s there right on time, with a paint bucket in hand and the brush tucked into the pocket of his ratty, paint spattered shirt.
he looks a picture, resembling more wayne than the eddie munson you knew.
“what?” he questions your marvelling expression.
“you look ridiculous,” tucking the cloth back into your apron to get a further look at his get up. his jeans closely resemble the ones he wore as a teen, tattered and torn with spatters of paint adorning the denim. it’s no wonder who he’d stolen his clothes from.
“ouch,” clutching his heart, “i can just go home if you want? leave that graffiti on your wall?”
“i didn’t say that,” tutting your tongue against your teeth, “go on out, i’m just gonna finish up in here and i’ll join ya,” ushering him back out the door.
closing takes longer than you’d expect. mr. casey wasn’t best pleased to hear he had to finish his coffee and go, grumbling all the way out of the door and into his car.
you make it outside just as eddie spreads the last lick of paint onto the wood, “nice of you to join me!”
you stare up at the freshly painted wall, grateful to never have to look at the god awful eyesore every again, “doesn’t look like you needed my help anyway,” feet crunching against the stones as you make your way over to him.
“what d’you think?” proudly showing off his work.
your eyes scan the wall for anything you can make a quick quip about, only to find that he’d really done a great job.
“yeah..” frowning slightly as you peer at the wall, “you just missed a tiny little spot,” gesturing for him to come closer.
“what? where?” stomping over, displeased with your criticisms of his hard work.
“right here,” grabbing the brush from his hand, smearing a streak of dusty grey across his cheek before immediately jumping back to admire your handiwork.
eddie stands in shock, hands in the air while the cogs in his brain tick away slowly, figuring out how to get you back.
he goes for the can, picking up the full metal bucket and angling it in your direction, a maniacal, nay, evil grin on his face.
“don’t even fucking think about it eddie, i’m serious!” dropping the paintbrush in defeat, surrendering your hands in the air.
he cackles, thunderous laughter that makes you shriek in response, hands flying over your face to protect yourself for the onslaught.
eddie bounds over, the paint spilling over onto the floor as he goes, forcing you to brace yourself.
except the paint doesn’t come, daring enough to open your eyes to find him a few steps in front.
“come on,” he complains, “you didn’t really think i was gonna do it, did you?”
“yes! i did!”
he collapses into a fit of laughter, placing the can safely back on the ground, “i would never,” inching closer to prove his innocence.
only, he isn’t at all.
his fingers swipe the paint from his cheek to wipe the dusky colour onto yours instead, a perfect hand print encapsulated on your face.
“you’re an asshole,” grabbing his wrist to redirect his paint covered palm back to his own face.
eddie is, no doubt, stronger than you are. twisting your arm until it’s tangled around your own body. encasing you within your own limbs, held tight by his own unfaltering grip and his chest pressed against your back.
“what was that?”
“you’re an asshole and i’m going to scream if you don’t let me go,” an empty threat really, considering the dreary regulars had all shuffled off home and the nearest neighbourhood was a good mile east.
“i mean, you can if you want to but i don’t think anyone’ll hear you,” snickering into your ear.
you hadn’t anticipated that he’d now had years of experience with apprehending criminals, you were never a worthy opponent nowadays.
you lurch forward, taking both of your bodies over to the wall, eddie’s clumsy clown feet knocking over the tin of paint on his way. splashing the bottoms of your legs and shoes with the ghastly stuff.
you go stumbling into the still-wet wall, eddie following closely behind, pressing your back into the sticky paint. his chest heaves, still holding onto your arm though you’d come to face him now. his fingers twitch against your skin, slotting his between yours, holding your hand against the wall after the most painful few weeks of almosts.
quickly, his other hand comes to cup your chin, tilting it up to meet his. in a split second he goes from staring at your lips to crashing his into them.
knocking your head back against the wall with such ferocity, years of tension and unanswered pining leading to this moment.
“jesus christ,” he mutters through rushed kisses, “i’ve been waiting to do this for so long,” combing his dirtied fingers through your wild hair.
your arms snake around his neck, surely spreading white finger prints across his clothes and into his hair, “you should’ve.”
the sun beats down on your skin, painting his face a glorious orange hue, wanting nothing more than to bask in this view for the rest of your life.
eddie pulls away, pressing his forehead to yours, “you okay?”
you’re breathless, chest heaving against his, “yeah,” falling into a fit of giggles, “yeah.. are you?”
he nods, fingertips gently tucking strands of messy hair behind your ear, “yeah.. well, i’m better now,” ducking his head to lean in and meet your lips again.
you’d read about sparks flying and all sorts of other romanticisms in books for years, brushing them off as exaggerated works of fiction, only now, the very happenings you’d denied were happening to you.
to feel that someone’s lips were made so perfectly just for you seemed absurd, but truly, it was possible.
eddie’s words rumble against your lips, incomprehensible as your brain is preoccupied with processing what was happening.
“hey.. hey,” only really hearing him once he’d pulled away and was staring into your eyes with his deep, brown ones. “anyone home?” laughing at your vacant smile, as if he weren’t the culprit behind it.
“just shut up and kiss me again.”
-
the evening winds down rather quickly, now covered in peeling eggshell paint, your uniform half-off, half-dirtied.
you didn’t mind one bit, slowly making your way inside the diner to attempt to clean yourself up before heading home.
“since we’re in here..” eddie starts, leaving you wondering what was going to come out of his mouth next, “coffee?” eyeing the machine you’d already polished and turned off.
“seriously?” dead-eyed as you turn to face him.
“i wasn’t lyin’ about coming for the coffee,” smiling from across the bar, “i just didn’t mention that i was also coming to see you.”
your eyes roll back instinctively, however sweet he was being.
eddie offers to take you home, a gesture of goodwill after you clean him up and fill him with free coffee. both of you skirting around the fact he had you pinned up against the wall just mere hours ago.
if he’s not going to, you have to.
there was no going to back to normal, not after that, not after he had proclaimed that he had been waiting for that.
“pull over,” you blurt out. too loudly, too rushed that eddie can’t help but panic, questioning your urgency and most likely, safety.
but he follows your orders, pulling into the nearest clearing, all the while looking completely panicked and a little unsettled.
the engine is barely off before you’re sliding over onto the drivers seat, thighs resting either side of his as you skilfully lean down to push his chair back all at once. refusing to give him the chance to jabber his way out of this one.
“hey.. woah, what the fuck?” chuckling softly though his hands reluctantly come to rest on your hips, eyes darting around the dark outside of the window, “i’m in my patrol car.. what if someone sees?”
“who d’you think’s gonna see?”
“i-i dunno,” allowing himself to get comfortable, “but i’ll get fired,” reluctance in his throat.
“you can come work at the diner, you’re there all the time anyway,” interrupting his worrisome whining with a kiss to the side of his lips, taking his bottom lip between your teeth.
he indulges for a moment, sighing softly into your parted lips before hastily pulling away, “i mean it, i can’t,” gazing up to you with his doe-like eyes.
“fine,” you grumble, sliding back into the passenger seat, “d’you wanna come over? grandad’ll be asleep by now,” picking at your fingernails like some teenager talking to her crush.
that’s sort of what he was, an eternal crush that you’d never really get over.
“you sure? we could.. i mean, wayne still lives with me but i’m sure he wouldn’t mind,” eddie offers, though the thought of doing anything in that trailer made you recoil and shudder.
it was cozy and served you well during your adolescence but privacy was nonexistent, every breath or movement was projected very clearly into the next room.
you shake your head, “i’m closer anyway, i’m sure it’ll be fine,” after years of living on your own, debating where the safest place to have sex was seemed like a hundred steps back.
eddie can hardly focus, hand squeezing your knee the entire drive over. any longer and he’d have broken skin, that’s certain.
but now it’s your turn, you can’t keep your paint tarnished hands off of him, the second eddie steps over the threshold and into the corridor, you pounce. wrapping your arms tight around his neck, pressing your lips together with such ferocity that he falls back into the wall.
but he catches up quick, finding your waist as he walks the both of you up the hall, hungrily grabbing at the sliver of flesh peeking from underneath your shirt.
a light at the top of the staircase flicks on, forcing your lips apart.
“hi sweetie,” your grandad calls from upstairs, “good day?”
eddie’s fingers squeeze your waist, sharing a panicked look before you clear your throat, “hey grandpa.. it was good,” knowing full well that he wouldn’t venture out of his room at this time to catch you, “i’ll see you in the morning, alright?” ushering eddie through the kitchen door.
“okay, goodnight dear,” he calls, the light finally flickering off allowing you to release the breath you weren’t aware you were holding.
silently pulling him down the tiny hall and into your converted bedroom, holding in a devious cackle.
it really wouldn’t matter if he had caught you, grandad had always been a huge fan of eddie’s, cooking him dinner and offering him unsolicited dating advice during your teens. if anything, he’d be championing the ship.
“oh my god,” you mouth, closing the door, your room was the tiny office space right at the back of the house, which in hindsight, seemed like the best option now.
eddie’s hands find you again, resting on your hips with a sickening smile, “thought he was asleep?”
your eyes roll back on their own, hooking your arms around his neck once again, “so did i,” guiding him towards the bed, “just be quiet and we’ll be okay,” rushing to unbutton his shirt.
fifteen years of friendship boiling down to this very moment, a litany of teenage tension and hidden feelings bubbling to the surface all at once.
eddie moves your bodies as one, lowering your back onto the bed with tepid hands, coming down on top of you, “i don’t know if i can do quiet.”
“well try,” you hush, connecting your lips in a haste, rushing to unbutton the rest of his messy shirt.
grandad was partially deaf, the likelihood of him hearing anything was minuscule, but you weren’t willing to take that risk.
his tongue swipes across your bottom lip, no longer the novice he once was apparently. groaning softly into your mouth with every slight move of his hips.
you struggle with his shirt, his now-defined arms hold himself above you, leaving the fabric draped around his shoulders. you can’t complain, fingertips tracing over the solid muscle, a stark contrast to the spindly biceps you once clung to.
he taps your hip, signalling for them to move, allowing him to slide your pants down your thighs.
eddie had seen you naked a handful of times, mostly followed by you screaming at him to get or close his eyes. it was different then, when being naked in front of someone was the most personal thing you could ever do.
now it feels natural, his hands roaming your body as if they’ve always belonged there.
tossing his shirt to the ground before working on removing yours, all the while pressing hungry kisses to your lips, jaw and neck. chest heaving with the palpable tension.
it’s mostly silent bar your concealed sighs and the sound of his lips smacking against the crook of your neck.
he’s so hard, nudging against your aching core, you can feel it with every tilt of his hips, painstaking in the way he comes so close just to pull back again.
your panties end up on the heap of clothes last, eddie’s teeth gnaw at his bottom lip, watching the lacy fabric slide over your supple thighs.
“fuck,” gasping under his breath, marvelling your bare body.
his boxers go next, your eyes trailing down to his slick cock, far different to how you’d ever imagined.
there’s a slight jolt in your stomach, wondering why you’d ever waited so long for this to happen.
you’d have to make up for lost time, secret pining and infantile crushes all gone to waste.
two fingers tease your hole, shining in your release as they draw in and out. stifling the squeaks of pleasure into your palm, thighs closing around his arm.
you could truly cum from this alone, so pent up, so turned on that just his thumb tapping at your clit had you clenching around his digits.
“need.. more,” holding onto his bicep, refusing to let him prolong this any further.
“yeah?” eddie nods, “i can do more,” positioning himself at your sopping entrance, waiting for your go ahead to slide in.
“yes.. yes.”
he slips inside with a groan, only, the groan doesn’t come from his lips, but instead the creaky old mattress holding you both up.
eddie freezes, wide-eyed as his hips still. there was no way you could have sex on this old thing, at least not indiscreetly.
your lips twitch, laughing at the sheer insanity of this entire encounter, the world was clearly against the idea of you two having sex.
he falls into a quiet chuckle, still halfway inside of you at this point, “what should i do?” unwilling to disrespect your grandad while also being unwilling to give this up.
you felt like a teenager again, sneaking around with boys you shouldn’t, except, this time you’re twenty five and far too old to be worrying about being caught in the act.
“just- just fuck me,” you order, sick of the karmic interventions. there was only so much you could tolerate before things became too ridiculous.
eddie’s eyelashes flutter, letting his hips move as your cunt envelopes him.
“god- fu-uck,” fingers gripping at the sheets besides your head. beginning to lose his sanity already.
your pants fill the room, closely followed by the sound of his skin colliding with yours. moving in perfect harmony around one another in a bid to keep this as quiet as possible.
“eddie,” you sigh, loosening your grip on his neck only to cradle his cheek, meeting his eye in what was possibly the closest he had ever felt to anyone in his life.
there’s no hope in this lasting much longer, not with the way he was fumbling his words, certainly not with his cock twitching as he reached new, otherworldly heights. though his strokes are slow, they make your legs tremble, his tip nudging softly against your sweet spot.
your chin tilts, pressing clumsy kisses to the side of his mouth, panting in tandem with one another.
there’s something skilful about the way he angles himself, sliding in and out of your glistening pussy, pulling almost all the way back out just to end up filling you to the hilt again.
refusing to think about the implications of that.
“sweetheart i can’t- won’t last much longer,” whining against your cheek, carelessly pecking the soft skin.
“nearly.. nearly there,” you breathe, letting your eyes roll back, focusing on the way his core meets your clit and his soft cries that fill your ears.
this gives him the much needed determination to not let himself topple over before you had. coming even closer as he lowers himself, using one hand to glide down to your throbbing clit, two fingers rubbing lazy circles in time with his messy thrusts.
your stomach flips without warning, falling to pieces underneath his body as your thighs tighten around his hips. cumming around his cock, accompanied by incoherent mewls, an attempt to keep quiet though it fails miserable.
eddie’s hips sputter, grunting with each feeble, final thrust. barely pulling out before he cums, thick ropes of his release paint your cunt and stomach.
“ohh shit,” he curses, sitting back on his knees to assess his mess.
heaving for breath as he searches frantically for something to clean you up, a reformed gentleman. there’s no way eddie of the past would ever think to do something so thoughtful.
“there’s a towel.. somewhere,” gesturing vaguely to the floor, though your legs are intertwined with his, making it a much harder ordeal.
he scrambles off anyway, sweaty skin on skin causing him to fumble, almost tripping over completely just to save himself seconds before disaster.
your cackle erupts, watching him stumble around like a mad man. this had been anything but the quiet endeavour it should’ve been, and yet you can’t bring yourself to care.
after years of waiting for things to fall into place, they finally felt like they had. like something had clicked and you were right where you were supposed to be. what you had been missing was eddie, a best friend before he was ever a lover. someone that knew you and not just the version of you the city brought out.
“jesus christ,” he huffs, wiping his release from your stomach, “i tried,” tossing the towel back onto the floor, coming to collapse beside you.
immediately nestling into his side, still giggling over his pathetic tumble, “you’re ‘bout as grateful as a baby deer,” placing a hand on his chest, much leaner than his teenage years.
“be grateful i’m too tired to fight back,” sliding his arm under your resting body, bringing you in close. “god i missed you so much,” he sighs, melancholy out of nowhere, “i uh.. i..” trailing off into silence, while his fingers find their way onto your shoulder, drawing lines on the goosebumped skin.
you’re too weary to pay too much attention to his muttering, dozing off to sleep with the help of his chest. there’s something about his thumping heartbeat that soothes your messy head, he could tell you in the morning if it were truly that important.
-
a late august morning blooms outside the window, peeking through the curtains to pull you from your slumber.
only to find an empty bed and the scent of bacon wafting into your bedroom.
that can only mean one thing, and that petrifies you.
there’s no saying what your grandad would divulge about you over morning coffee, he was terrible at secrets at the best of times.
“..what’s going on?” rounding the corner with apprehension in your face, not wanting to disrupt whatever conversation they were having.
you meet eddie’s eye first, his lopsided grin and messy hair making your own smile emerge, grateful that he hadn’t ran off during the night.
“breakfast,” your grandad replies, sharp and snappy but soft as always, “we normal folks tend to eat it in the morning,” a dig at your late awakening, despite the clock only reading 9:30.
“has anyone ever told you how funny you are?” pulling a face behind his back, purely for eddie’s benefit.
your grandad hums, “i found eddie here, rather underdressed, coming out of your bedroom this morning,” transferring the greasy bacon onto a plate, thankfully avoiding all eye contact, though you can spot his cheeky smirk a mile away.
“oh.. right,” catching eddie’s eye just to widen your own, terrified for what else he may come out with.
there’s a silence between the three of you, only the sounds of cutlery clinking against the plates and your feet shuffling awkwardly around the kitchen.
“i don’t care,” he announces, breaking the uncomfortably long quiet, “i think you deserve this more than anything,” finding your gaze, a gentle, sincere smile plastered over his face.
“thank you grandad,” ignoring eddie for a second, you’d shared tidbits of your time in the city, but nothing compared to what your grandad had heard for years.
“i mean it,” he starts, including eddie in the conversation finally, “you’ve both grown into remarkable young people and you..” pointing his fork at eddie’s smiling face, “you, i would’ve never guessed you’d grow up,” eddie doesn’t wince, taking his jabs on the chin, “but look at you.”
eddie nods, grinning sincerely, “thank you sir, i appreciate it,” a tender moment that makes your heart swell.
you don’t want to call it what it so obviously is, not yet. but watching him grin at your grandad, completely domesticated and tender, you can’t help but think about it.
your grandad smiles, sliding plates of food in front of you both, “now get and eat this before it goes cold.”
-
the diner had apparently become a circus of sorts, only you seemed to be the main attraction.
now that things were partially out there and eddie didn’t feel so scared to let you ride him in his patrol car, people, namely his colleagues had become regulars at the diner.
you wouldn’t have ever cared, really. it was bound to get out at some point and if this was going to be a permanent, serious thing, you’d have to meet them all eventually.
what you aren’t fond of, is their incessant staring, the gawping and tittering about your endeavours.
eddie hadn’t believed you, always arriving just after they’d left, leaving you feeling crazed all alone.
except for today, too busy refilling coffee to notice his car pull up, his lackeys too busy watching you refill coffees to notice either.
the bell rings above the door, your eyes flitting up to find him staring at the table.
they notice one by one, quickly looking down into the mugs and unfinished eggs, embarrassed and rosy-cheeked.
vindicated in your madness at last.
“afternoon,” eddie nods, strolling over to the counter, looking more amused than the angry, stern eddie you’d hoped for.
“hmph,” awaiting his reaction,
“you weren’t joking, huh?” eyeing the rambunctious table, his chest puffed out to showcase his seniority.
you scoff, rolling your eyes, “no,” making your way around the bar to grab his arm, “what’ve you told them? i thought we weren’t going to make this a big thing,” shoving the mug of coffee into his chest, though he didn’t deserve your hospitality.
eddie holds his hands up high, a plea for his innocence, or forgiveness, “i just.. i told a few people about you. i’m happy, im sorry,” opting for puppy dog eyes. “i didn’t think they’d come up here to antagonise you, honest,” stroking your arm, a gesture of peace you can’t help but resist.
your eyes narrow, slipping away from his grasp to get back to your job, “you’re so lucky i like you.”
-
eddie had stayed until close again, mumbling something about vacation and helping out. but you’re ravenous the second the door locks, a one track mind to get into his pants and out of yours.
tugging him by the collar into the kitchen, throwing yourself on him with such ferocity his body almost sends the cutlery to the floor as he holds the counter for stability.
“okay.. okay,” he laughs, breaking away from your lips to hoist you atop of the cold, steel counter, “rough day, huh?”
you nod, wasting no time in getting your legs wrapped around his midriff, arms draped over his shoulders. now that having this was a real thing, you didn’t want to ever stop.
your lips find solace in the crook of his neck, working your way up to his ear, your teeth nibbling at the sensitive skin.
“huh- fuck okay,” eddie’s hands clamp down on the surface top, enveloping you perfectly within his grasp. his uniform hangs off of his frame, disheveled by your wandering hands.
eyes scanning the clearly empty restaurant for what feels like the thousandth time already, as if even he believed that someone would sneak in just to catch you two out.
“eds please,” huffing frustratedly into his ear, “i practically own this place.. no one’s gonna find us,” snapping his distracted gaze back to your pouty lips, his hands settling on your hips almost immediately.
“i know i know,” nodding along, “okay, shit,” further diving into the space between your legs, his cock teasing as it nudges your clothed entrance.
“need you so bad,” jutting your bottom lip out further, fingers dipping below the messy collar of his button up, in dire need of something a little more substantial to satiated the ache between your legs.
his twitchy fingers struggle with the button of your jeans, failing him in his time of need.
“ah fuck,” eddie gives up completely. head dipping into the small space between you, forehead resting on your chest.
“what’s wrong? what’s.. what’s the matter?” you tug at his hair in an attempt to bring him back upright.
he sighs, the warm air splaying across your exposed skin, “i gotta tell you something,” finally reemerging to meet your eyes, “you’re gonna be mad but.. i just need you to listen, okay?”
your brows furrow, features crumpling in sheer confusion. he was terrifying like this, cryptic and coy. what could he possibly have to say that couldn’t wait until after you’d fucked?
“what is it?” your voice trembling, still cradling his face, terrified for whatever he might blurt out.
he sighs again. deep and guttural as his gaze flickers, “i’m.. sorry, first of all. for not telling you about this.”
your anger and worry both grow increasingly stronger, “sorry for what? eddie, i don’t understand what’s going on.”
eddie pauses, brushing his thumb over your hot cheek, “i’m being shipped out on monday,” chewing down on his lip nervously. rightly so too.
dropping the bombshell of the century at five in the afternoon as you sat pathetically, covered in grease and coffee stains all the while ridiculously turned on.
“what?”
his mouth opens but nothing comes out, he’d run out of things to say already. he’d had weeks and weeks to tell you, to at least prepare himself for what to say and this was the best he could come up with?
“why didn’t you tell me?” dropping your hand, positively raging with the stupid boy, “how long have you known?”
you can almost hear the gulp, regret and guilt seeping through his face immediately, “the day after you got back,” sounding utterly pathetic.
your hands push him back instinctively, anger pulsing through your veins, “and you didn’t tell me?” you slide off of the counter, shoving him backward.
“i didn’t know how..” scrambling now, refusing to allow his cowardice ruin this, “i wasn’t expecting to fall in love with you again-“
“-don’t! don’t do that!” jabbing your finger harshly into his chest, “why didn’t you fucking tell me!”
“because i was scared,” eddie somehow remains level-headed despite your lack of control, “i didn’t know that i was gonna feel this way or that you were gonna stick around again,” sighing frustratedly, “i never wanted to hurt you,” a complete and utter dejection in his voice.
your lip trembles, tears threatening to spill over, “and you thought that not telling me would be any better?”
“no! i didn’t..” shaking his head, hands reaching out one more time, “i wasn’t thinking at all,” you don’t push him away this time, too encompassed by your devastation to notice his hands grab yours.
“you’re unbelievable eddie,” scolding him for his ignorance, but he can feel you relax into his touch, “three days… three days is all i’ve got to say goodbye again,” forlorn, already wishing away the year.
what if he never come back?
he could meet someone else, decide that hawkins was a dead end and stay the rest of his life with someone other than you.
it’s unfathomable, the last time you said goodbye, you didn’t see him again for years.
eddie’s eyes are wet,
“wait for me,” he nods assuredly, “a year and i’ll be back,” trembling as he speaks, desperate to not lose you again, “please.”
“a year?” you fret, angry all over again, “i’ve just.. i’ve just got you back! you can’t-” struggling to breathe through your sobs, “what if you don’t come back? and then i’m stuck here for the rest of my life waiting for you!”
“that’s not gonna happen,” pressing the rough pads of his thumbs into your wrists, keeping you in his hold, “i’m coming back for you,” wrapping your arms around his waist, pulling you into his chest where your cries become muffled wails. “i want to be with you forever. you don’t have to worry about that,” resting his chin atop of your head, drawing soothing patterns into your back.
“promise me,” you blubber, pulling back just enough to catch his eye, “promise me that you’ll come back,” sniffling through your words, a mess that would scare any man from coming back.
“i promise you, i’m coming back.”

Where will you meet your lover?
The date, time, and setting of a fated meeting is one that can cause a lot of anxiety in people. Today, I recieved a message that I should help you and the collective find out where they will meet their lovers. All will happen in due time.
Drink some water, pick a pile, and feel free to reject what does not resonate.

Group One ~ The Water
You will meet your lover on a snowy or just a very cold winter's day, under a streetlamp. You may have just been coming back from a big social meal or a holiday celebration, or maybe the club or a party if you are so inclined. If you smoke, they may offer you a cigarette. If not, they may comment on the weather, and how out of place it may feel.
The connection will at first be friendly. Whether or not the snow can resonate with you, there will be a gravitational pull under the streetlamp no matter the weather. It may feel more like people having a chance meeting with someone at first, but over text or instant messaging, it will be almost scary how much you both have in common with each other.
The relationship will flow effortlessly, and you will be friends before you are lovers.

Group Two ~ The Dandelions
You will meet your lover for the first time as you are trying to hurry. You would be late to something, or have a very groggy and grumpy morning, and end up late for an appointment, school, your job, or anywhere else that would require punctuality. Your lover may be walking on the wrong side of the sidewalk, be hurrying and not paying attention, or maybe even will be a tollmaster or a ticket master who is also having a grumpy day.
Either way, they will present a roadblock towards getting where you need to be. You will forget this reading entirely, and become frustrated with them. You have places to be, you're in a hurry, you don't have time!
Then, you may see that same person on a dating app, perhaps they have recently broken up with someone. You don't recognize who it is, but realize this persion has all the same values as you, traditionally or otherwise, and you both are in alignment with what you want or need. You will make a meeting, and have a revelation at the date that it was the person who you bumped into.

Group Three ~ The Meadow
You will meet your lover in nature. You will be going on a hike, or visiting a recreational lake or garden, or just getting some fresh air. It probably would be about the beginning of spring, many flowers are in bloom or just beginning to bloom.
There is an air of heaviness or sadness around you, you may have many burdens and heard that walks in nature can clear your head. There will be some blockage in the road, perhaps construction or a large branch will block your path. Maybe someone would be accidentally camping on your trail, or asleep in your path somehow. Either way, you and someone else will stop at this roadblock, and your lover will introduce themselves.
You will be charmed by them, and them by you. You will both make jokes or talk about the roadblock, and move together at the same pace. You will exchange numbers, but a date will happen very quickly afterwards. You both may want to get some food for your first date, and it would be very casual and warm. You both are very comfortable with each other, and enjoy each other's company, at your first date and beyond.

Group Four ~ The Guitar
You both will meet in service of society. Something will happen, that will move you to protest, to volunteer your time, or seek a career in advocating for others to combat the injustice in the world. You will be riteously angry, and so will your lover.
You will meet in the throws of rage, defending and campaigning for what you truly believe in. You will become close, but see each other more as allies and dependable figures. If you go outside to protest, one of you may bail the other out of confinement. One may defend the other against false testimonies or online hatred for what they believe in.
When the dust settles, you both will see that you were not as alone as you thought, that the person who you also wish to fight for, was fighting for you as well. This revelation will overjoy you both, and you will celebrate a battle well fought and a time of peace afterwards.

Thank you so much for trusting me with your time, connections, and energy seekers. I pray this finds you at the right time, in the right moment. Blessed be to you!

𝐬𝐡𝐲 𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐱 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 [𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 → 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬]
Tumblr media
summary over than span of the school year, you go from the girl who plays with Eddie's hair to so much more | wc 700
.・゜゜・ ・゜゜・.
Shy!eddie who doesn’t dare say anything when you begin twirling the end of his curls around your finger by week three of sitting behind him in Mrs. O’Donnel’s class.
The gentle tug feels nice, and he’d be devastated if you stopped. He knew who you were—all of Hawkins High did. You always smiled at him in the halls, and he’d know the scent of your vanilla perfume anywhere.
Then one day, playing with his hair transitions to you drawing small shapes on his back. When the dismissal bell rings, he finally musters the courage to turn around and look you in the eyes with a shy smile.
“Hey,” he says.
You realize then that he has faint freckles dotted on his cheeks. Over the bridge of his nose. You smile back like it’s the easiest thing to do.
“Hi.”
He didn’t think this far ahead. Doesn’t know what to say, so he dips his head down and lets out a chuckle while praying his cheeks aren’t the dusty pink color he remembers his mother’s rose bed being when he was a little boy.
“Sorry,” you murmur. “I can stop.”
His brows lift a bit as if you startled him. He doesn’t have time to muster up a façade of nonchalance, so he rushes out, “No, it’s okay, you don’t have to. I don’t mind.”
You bite your lip and tilt your head at him as you fight off your growing smile. “Okay.”
“Okay.”
Next week at lunch, you mosey over to where he’s sitting by himself listening to music.
Upon noticing you, he clumsily takes his headphones off and sets them on the table. He’s nearly halfway through his lunch. What he’s not expecting is for you to reach for the headphones and put them on your own ears. He shifts as if he instinctively wants to stop you but ends up refraining.
Warmth rises to his cheeks. “It’s, uh, Metallica.”
You hum. “Obey your master, huh?” you quote the lyrics back to him as they rattle in your ears.
Eddie smiles sheepishly.
“Are you doing anything after school today?”
He blinks like he misheard the question, but musters up an answer anyway. “I—no. Not really...”
You smile in a sweet way that makes his chest flutter. “Would you like to?”
Shy!Eddie who starts seeing you outside of school more and more. At Lover’s Lake, the diner, the arcade, Family Video. You come to realize that turtles do come out of their shells. It’s easy to talk to him, and it helps that he’s cute. He feels the same way about you.
You go to see him play at The Hideout, and wave at him from within the small crowd. You’ve listened to him practice in his room on multiple occasions, and there’s something gratifying about watching him do his thing in front of an audience of more than just you.
Shy!Eddie who lets it slip that he’s glad he met you.
One fateful evening, several months into this friendship, the two of you are sitting on his couch as rain patters onto the windows outside. There’s a sitcom playing on the TV, and even though you’re both looking at the screen, neither of you are paying attention. Over the span of thirty minutes, you’ve managed to press yourself even closer to his side without saying a single word.
Finally, like he did back before you were friends, he musters up the nerve to peek over at you. The way you bite your lip makes something flutter low in his gut.
“Hi,” he murmurs, beginning to smile because he can’t help himself.
You reach out to tug one of his curls. As you scoot even closer, your thigh presses against his. Eddie holds his breath when you close the gap between you to place a gentle peck on his lips.
“Hey,” you whisper.
Shy!Eddie who’s warm all over and can’t help but lean back in.
Thanks for reading ♡

AFFECTIONATE
Tumblr media
akaashi keiji x gn!reader
includes: clingy keij
notes: old fic reupload
Tumblr media
There are days when Keiji has these… moods.
It starts out unnoticeable at first, his actions so small and natural they’re simply normal—a kiss to the temple as he passes you in the hallway, brushing his fingers over your arm when he sits down beside you, placing a kiss to your lips as he hands you the lunch he’s made.
You’re no stranger to your husband’s feathery touches throughout the day, delicate affections rewarded unto you for no reason other than that he loves you.
But as the day goes on, that’s when you finally begin to notice the change. He curls himself around you as he watches the movie you’ve put on for the afternoon, he bombards you while washing dishes to steal a few drawn out kisses before disappearing, he leans over the back of the couch to bury his face in your neck for a few moments then goes back down the hall to his office.
The more time that passes, the more you find your husband coming back to you again and again—more touches, more affection, more love.
You’re in the kitchen looking in the fridge for a pre-dinner snack when two familiar arms wind around your waist from behind, followed by a soft set of lips pressing to the base of your neck.
“Hey,” you greet, placing your hands on top of Keiji’s arms, rubbing circles into his skin with your thumb. He hums in response, simply pressing another kiss to the side of your neck. Grinning, you lean back into him, dropping your head back onto his shoulder. “What’s gotten into you today?”
There’s another kiss, this time longer, and then Keiji’s pressing his lips to your temple, not even for a kiss really, but just enough for contact. “I miss you,” he whispers, and a rush of warmth spreads through your bones.
“I’ve been with you all day, silly. What do you mean you miss me?” Keiji pulls back so he can look down and meet your gaze, glasses slipping a little down his nose. Then his arms are tightening around you and he’s leaning to bury his face in your neck again, flushed cheeks pressing into your skin.
“I just love you,” he breathes, his voice that same shy tone he uses when asking for cuddle time after breakfast and saying excuse me when he walks in on you changing, even after two years of dating and three of marriage. “So much.”
Your cheeks hurt from how wide your lips stretch, twisting around in his arms and placing your hands on both sides of his face, making him look at you once again.
“You’re so precious, you know that,” you tease, though there’s obvious sincerity laced within it. Even now, it seems Keiji is facing an inner battle about whether to look at your eyes or lips, subconsciously leaning in with each tick of the clock.
You meet him halfway, initiating the first bout of affection from your end today. Your fingers slide from the sides of his face to the nape of his neck, sifting into the curls at the base, scratching ever so slightly. When you pull back, Keiji chases your lips, and you can’t help but laugh as you give him one more peck then untangle yourself from him.
“I’m gonna go watch a movie in bed,” you tell him, slowly walking out of the kitchen. You stop once you’re in the doorway, turning to look back at your husband over your shoulder with a devilish little smirk. “Aren’t you gonna come cuddle?”
The rest of the day is spent with Keiji and you tangled up in bed, limbs intertwined and breaths shared between lazy kisses. You’re halfway through your second movie when the sound of soft snores comes from where Keiji’s head is pressed to your sternum.
You try to shift, just to see what’ll happen, and smile softly when it does nothing but make his arms wrap around you tighter. You slip his glasses off his nose, setting them on the bedside table, and bury your nose into his hair.
“I love you,” you whisper to the sleeping man on top of you, who hums as if he’s awake enough to respond. Pressing a kiss to the crown of his head, you let your eyes slip shut too. “So much.”

Mumscarian, but the relationship is complicated, and it's not a throuple but three different couples. They all like each other, and they're all dating each other but in different ways
But also, before they all end up dating each other at the same time, it's a story of Grian and Mumbo dating, breaking up, then Grian and Scar dates, breaks up, lastly Mumbo and Scar dates, breaks up.
At some point, they're like "Wait but we could all be dating each other at the same time. Let's do that.
So they do.
Works wonders for them tbh
Eventually, they do end up as a throuple bc the three separate relationships start to bleed into each other.
Meanwhile Grumbot is confused as all hell, first his parents split, then they separately date (who he considers to be) their enemy, and then all three of them dates.
Takes a while for him to come around to Scar, but when he does, they have a v sweet dynamic
Jrumbot is too young to understand anything. Unlike Grumbot, tho, he liked Scar from the beginning. Viewing him as his "Fun uncle"

don’t they know it's the end of the world (cause you don’t love me anymore) — geto suguru.
Tumblr media
You blinked, the knot in your chest tightening as you took in his face, his solemn expression that didn’t match the usual carefree look he wore. Was he already saying goodbye in some way? You shook your head slowly, the smile coming to your lips, though it carried a mixture of sadness and certainty. "Sugu, how could you even think about that?… I could never forget about you."  “It can happen, you know. Life happens.” He smiles in a small timid manner.   Your voice was soft, but there was no doubt in it. "No, you’re wrong. You’re the most important person in my life. How could I forget someone like you?"

══════════════════
IF YOU COULD DESCRIBE WONDER, IT WOULD BE BEING BY SUGURU’S SIDE. No one else could understand it, you like to think. What the two of you had, it was certainly a language made for two. It was a life that was built for the purpose of being known by you both. And you like to think that he feels the same way too.
You and Suguru had been together since you were kids, bound by an unspoken connection that neither of you ever questioned. Because, there was nothing to question about it. Nor could words even describe it all. It was too unique, too intriguing. And yet, it only belonged to the two of you.
It all started on a warm afternoon at the school playground, where laughter and shrieks filled the air as children ran around in endless games of tag. It was a long while ago, and yet it felt like yesterday to you. You could feel your eyes twitching as you watched from where you stood, permeating with desire and anxiety.
You had been standing alone for a while, just a bit near the jungle gym, watching all the kids giggle and run about, with the zeal of youth dashing along with them.
As you watched them there with eager eyes, you kept wishing you could join in too, you wished you could run amok with joy too. But that heavy weight of fear blossoms your hesitation. It held you back from a lot of things, including making friends.
Yet, why wouldn’t you feel like this? You were new in town, and you didn’t know these kids. You didn't know any life lived in this place before you had come. Everything was new for you, as much as you were sure it would also be new to them.
How would they even react to you, knowing you aren’t a familiar face they were already comfortable seeing? How would you interact with them, anyway? It’s not like you could just jump in and smile and just jump in easily? This is a sea and if you plunge so deep, you could drown. And you didn’t want that to happen. Not here, not when you were starting a new life.
But then, that’s when he found you.
"Why are you just standing here?" a voice asked.
You turned to see a boy with dark hair, a little messy from running around, and warm, curious eyes. He wasn’t out of breath, despite the wild chase of tag that had just ended. His hands were shoved into the pockets of his tiny shorts, and he looked at you like he was trying to figure you out.
"I….I don’t know how to approach them." you muttered, kicking at a loose pebble. "I’m not sure how to come and tell them I want to play too, so I….."
Suguru blinked, then without hesitation, he grinned and reached out a hand to you. "I see…..Then let’s play together! I don’t care if you’re slow. I’ll just run at your speed, if that would make it easier on you."
Your eyes swiftly widened, surprised by the easy kindness in his voice. "Really?"
"Yeah!" he said enthusiastically. "I’ll even let you tag me first."
That was the beginning of everything, that was certain.
During recess, the world belonged to just the two of you. You ran hand in hand across the playground, unbothered by who was faster or slower. You hummed little tunes under your breath, and he giggled at the way you always skipped a step ahead before doubling back to him. You hopped, he ran, and sometimes, in the joy of it all, you tripped over each other’s feet and tumbled into the dirt.
And if one of you scraped a knee? The other sat down beside them without hesitation. If you fell, Suguru would plop down next to you, crossing his arms stubbornly. “I’m not playing if you’re not playing. That’s just how it is!
And you would do the same for him, because what was the fun in anything if he wasn’t right there beside you?
Nothing was ever quite complete without each other.
It wasn’t a good day unless you were together.
Even as you grew older, nothing changed.
The playground turned into quiet walks home, but your hands still found each other without thinking.
"You still hold my hand like we’re kids, Sugu," you teased one afternoon, fingers laced together as you walked home. The sun hung low in the sky, spilling warm golden light over the quiet street. Your shadows stretched long behind you, linked together like a promise.
Suguru glanced down at your hands, his grip tightening just slightly. "Yeah? You don’t like it?"
You smiled, squeezing back. "I never said that, you know!"
His grin was soft but sure, a mirror of the way he had always been with you. "Good. Because you’re still my favorite person."
And really, wasn’t that all that mattered?
══════════════════
IF YOUR BIRTHDAY COULD BE A HOLIDAY, SUGURU WOULD MAKE SURE OF IT. Your birthday has always been special, you know that much. But now more than ever, especially because, for as long as you could remember, Geto Suguru had been by your side for most of it. Now, it was even more special than before.
The years blurred together in a collage of memories: the laughter, the excitement, the simple moments that felt so big when they were shared with him. There were so many pictures, pictures of the two of you, year after year.
You were always together. His presence in every single one, a steady anchor through the passing time. One that was the only constant throughout the world that keeps on changing.
Whether it was the early mornings, when you both rushed around the house, throwing together last-minute gifts for each other in the midst of the chaos of birthday preparations, or the quiet evenings spent chatting under the stars, those moments were always colored by Suguru’s unique way of making everything feel more important.
He never treated your birthday like just another day. To him, it was an event, something that deserved to be celebrated with the utmost care. After all, it was the day you were born—the day you were with him. And to Suguru, that meant the world.
He didn’t just show up for your birthday.
No, he took it as seriously as he would a test.
He planned it meticulously, down to the smallest detail, as though the day had to be perfect.
"I thought you might like this, buttercup!" he’d say with a grin, always just a little too proud of whatever thoughtful gift he managed to get you, even if you’d both picked it out together the day before. "I’m pretty sure you’ll love it."
And every time, no matter how simple the gift, the thought behind it always felt like the most meaningful gesture.
On your birthday mornings, you’d wake up to the smell of something delicious.  The pancakes, bacon, whatever it was that he knew you’d love, always cooked with that special touch that made it taste even better. He would rush in, hands full of wrapped presents, bright eyes sparkling like a child eager to see your reaction.
"You ready?" he’d ask, bouncing on his heels.
You couldn’t help but smile at the sight— Geto Suguru, the one who always had his life together, who always so composed, turned into a ball of excitement for just one day.
Even in the evenings, as the day began to fade and the sky turned dark, you would find yourselves sitting together outside, wrapped in blankets under the stars. He’d listen to you talk about the year that had passed, what had changed, what had stayed the same while you both sat in comfortable silence, the kind only the two of you shared.
"Make a wish, okay?" he’d say when it was time to blow out the candles, the way he’d always said it every year. But there was something about the way he said it then, with that little smile on his face, as if he already knew your wish without needing to hear it.
Suguru didn’t need grand gestures. For him, it was always about the little things, the way he made sure your favorite song was playing when you entered the room, the way he’d insist on carrying your cake even though it was ridiculously heavy, the way he refused to let anyone else help you with the birthday prep, because it was his job to make sure everything was just right for you.
And he didn’t think it was just about the day itself. To Suguru, your birthday wasn’t just a celebration of your life; it was a reminder that you existed, that you were here, and that the world—his world—was just a little bit brighter because you were in it.
Every year, as he gave you your gift, no matter how big or small, you could always see that gleam in his eyes. The beautiful gleam that said. "This is important. This is you, this is us, and I’m going to make sure you feel special, because you are."
For Suguru, your birthday wasn’t just another day in the calendar. It was the day you were born—his day to remind you just how much you meant to him, and to celebrate the fact that, all these years later, you were still by his side.
And when you looked back at all the memories, all those years of birthdays spent with him, you couldn’t help but smile. They weren’t just your birthdays, they were his to celebrate too.
He celebrated them just as fiercely, just as passionately, as if it were his own day to remember. Because, to Suguru, every birthday spent together was a blessing. And he never took that for granted.
But this year, it felt different.
Not because of the cake or the candles. Not because of the way your friends sang off-key, their voices melding into a perfect disaster. No, this year was different because, when the party had quieted down and the night was winding to a close, Suguru handed you a small, neatly wrapped box.
He was sitting beside you on the couch, his beautiful lilac eyes watching you closely as you held the box in your hands, the soft rustle of paper the only sound between you. You could only look at the beautiful box in front of you for the longest time. He clears his throat.
“Are you really not saying anything?”
You looked at him suspiciously, fingers hesitating over the ribbon. "You didn’t have to get me anything, Sugu."
"I wanted to, buttercup." he said simply, nudging the box closer. "Go on, open it."
So you did.
Inside was a delicate silver bracelet, the light catching on the fine chain, making it shimmer. But what caught your attention was the tiny charm hanging from it—a miniature book, small enough to rest in the center of your palm, its metal etched with tiny details that made it look like it had real pages inside.
You blinked up at him, surprise evident in your expression. "Sugu…"
He looked uncharacteristically shy, rubbing the back of his neck. "It’s nothing fancy, but… I thought it’d be nice. Y’know, for us."
"For us?" you repeated, tracing your fingers over the book charm.
Suguru nodded, watching your reaction closely. "Yeah. Because we always read together. Because of all those afternoons spent sharing a book, arguing over who gets to turn the page first—"
"You always turn the page too fast, you know." you interrupted with a pout.
"And you always get distracted by random things in the margins, buttercup." he shot back, smirking. “We’re both not good at it.”
You huffed. "That’s called appreciating the details, Suguru."
"Sure, sure." he laughed, shaking his head. "Anyway, that’s the first one."
You tilted your head. "First?"
He reached over, taking your wrist gently in his hands as he fastened the bracelet around it, his touch careful, warm. "Every birthday from now on, I’m giving you a charm. One for each year. Something that means something to us."
Your breath caught for a moment.
"You’re serious?" you asked, looking up at him.
Suguru met your gaze, his expression unwavering. "Completely." Then, with a lopsided grin, he added. "You’re stuck with me for a long time, you know."
You couldn’t stop the smile that spread across your face. Everything about you just felt warm, especially when you looked at it, knowing he put a lot of thought on this beautiful present. The bracelet felt light on your wrist, but the promise it carried felt heavier. This was solid, real, unshakable. Just like your relationship with him, ironclad for all your lives.
"Good." you said, squeezing his hand before letting go. "Because I wouldn’t want it any other way."
And back then, with Geto Suguru beside you, his promise wrapped around your wrist and his warmth wrapped around your heart, you believed it.
You really, really did.

ALL BIRTHDAYS ARE HAPPY, WELL THEY SHOULD BE. But this morning, this birthday of yours, it was not something that just truly felt odd. You had tried to put it off, knowing that it wasn’t the right place or time to talk about it. You could feel it, you know you do. Something was wrong with your best friend.
Geto Suguru had been unusually quiet all day, even when he was trying to be casual and jolly, smiling at you. But you knew there was something going on and you couldn't put your finger on why. The excitement of the day had dulled a little, as the two of you moved through the motions of cake and presents, but something in the air felt different.
It wasn’t until later that afternoon when everything changed.
You had walked him to the train station, like you always did, ever since he moved to another part of the city. Though this time, there was an unspoken weight that drowned between you, a heaviness that neither of you could shake. Geto Suguru, usually so confident and carefree, seemed distant, his usual smile a little more strained.
"I got in." he said, as the train pulled up to the station, his voice barely above a whisper, yet somehow carrying the weight of his words.
You paused, unsure of what he meant at first. "Got in?"
He nodded, his eyes avoiding yours for a moment before meeting your gaze. "To Jujutsu High School. I’m going to Tokyo."
Your heart skipped, the reality of the situation sinking in like ice water.
He was going to leave you, you were going to be separated.
Your Suguru was heading to Tokyo to train, on the other side of your world.
For the first time in years, you wouldn’t be by each other’s side every day. The thought was almost impossible to process. Not when you had been together for so long, just being bubbles in each other’s circle. Your lips parted, you wanted to say something. But you didn’t know what. You were too stunned to speak.
"Wait, you’re leaving? When?" you whispered, your voice suddenly became small.
“Tomorrow.” He whispered, his tone almost blossoming with shame. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. I don’t….I didn’t want to ruin the time and I didn't think it was going to come any time soon, but it just….”
"But… but today’s my birthday, Sugu."
Suguru gave you a sad smile, his hand reaching out to ruffle your hair. "I know. I’m sorry. But it’s not goodbye forever, okay? We’ll keep in touch, I promise."
You nodded, but the lump in your throat made it hard to speak. Suguru was your rock, your constant. The thought of him being so far away, in a completely different city, felt like the world was shifting beneath your feet.
He took a step closer to you, lowering his voice. "I didn’t want to leave without giving you something special." He pulled out a small box from his pocket, holding it out to you.
You took it from his warm hands, your eyes brimming with questions. When you opened it, a soft gasp escaped your lips. Inside was a new charm for your bracelet—a delicate purple colored buttercup, its petals etched with such fine detail that it looked almost real. It was beautiful. And soulful. Almost glistening as brightly as his eyes.
He smiled gently, a warmth in his eyes as he slipped the charm onto your bracelet. "It’s a buttercup," he said softly. "My nickname for you. So I thought…I thought it would be perfect."
You stared at the charm for a moment, the lump in your throat thickening. "You still call me that…"
Suguru’s smile grew tender. "Always will. And whenever you look at it, I want you to think of me, okay? Think of me often."
You blinked away the tears threatening to spill and smiled back at him. "I will, Sugu. I promise."
He pulled you into a tight hug, holding you close for just a moment longer than usual. "Take care of yourself, alright? And don’t forget—I’m just a train ride away. Osaka is not that far. So when you need me, call me. Okay?"
“Okay.” You squeezed him back, trying to imprint the moment into your memory, trying to hold onto the feeling of him next to you. "I won’t forget. I’ll think of you every day."
Suguru pulled away slowly, his fingers brushing the side of your face. "I know you will."
The train’s loud engine roared to brutish life, and the sound of the wheels on the tracks made your chest tighten even further. You watched Suguru stand by the window.
His beautiful face illuminated by the soft afternoon light as the train slowly started to pull away. Your feet felt rooted to the ground, your mind racing with so many things you wanted to say, things you didn’t know how to say.
But before you could stop yourself, something inside you snapped. You took a step forward, then another, and then you were running, your heart pounding heavily in your chest, your breath coming faster as you pushed yourself harder, faster, chasing the train like you could somehow outrun the fear that gripped your heart.
"Suguru!" you called out, your voice shaking, but loud enough for him to hear.
He turned around in surprise, his eyes wide as he saw you running toward him. The train was moving faster now, but he didn’t hesitate. You could see how his face lit up with a mix of disbelief and hope, his hand pressed against the window.
"Sugu!" you shouted again, your heart racing even harder, your legs moving as if they had a will of their own. The distance between you seemed so large, but you weren’t going to stop.
He leaned closer to the window, his hand now reaching out, as if trying to touch you through the glass. You could see the concern on his face, his bright lilac eyes filled with an emotion you couldn’t quite name, but it made you move faster, faster than you thought you could.
When you finally reached the side of the train, you stopped just short of losing your breath. You pressed your hands to your chest, feeling your heart pounding, and you looked up at him, eyes shining.
"I love you, Suguru!" you blurted, the words spilling out before you could stop them.
For a moment, there was nothing but silence. Geto Suguru froze, his eyes wide in astonishment, as though he hadn’t expected you to say it—that particular thing, not now, not like this. You watched him, your heart hanging in the air between you, waiting for his reaction, wondering if you had made a mistake.
But then, his expression softened, and a smile broke through the surprise. It wasn’t just a smile you see. It was his smile, that beautiful smile that only belonged to you. The one that made everything feel like it would be okay, no matter what. He nodded slowly, a little chuckle escaping his lips as he leaned closer to the window, as if pulling you in even from a distance.
"I love you too, buttercup!" he said, his voice full of warmth, his eyes soft but certain.
And just like that, everything that had felt so heavy was lifted, the weight of the unspoken tension, the distance between you, all of it faded into the background of that moment. You smiled back at him, breathless but relieved, and the world around you seemed to slow down.
The train started to pick up speed again, and Suguru gave you one last look, his smile still lingering as he waved.
"Take care of yourself, okay?" he called out, his voice carrying over the noise of the train.
"I will!" you said, a smile tugging at your lips. "I’ll always think of you."
And with that, the train pulled away, leaving you standing there, heart full, the buttercup charm on your bracelet gleaming softly in the fading light.
That train carried your heart with him.
But you were sure that you held his heart here too.
You looked at your buttercup charm, smiling.
“Come back to me soon, okay?”

THERE WAS SOMETHING ABOUT HOW MUCH HE HAD CHANGED. And all he could do was wish that you didn’t see it, that you would never find out the truth. All he could pray for was that you didn’t notice the light in his eyes dying or the bitterness of the taste from the curses he was forced to consume still on his tongue.
Geto Suguru has always been a powerful force of nature, a rock withstanding everything in his way. In a way, he was also your rock, your steady presence in your life. No matter what was happening around him, he was there, unwavering, holding everything together with that quiet strength of his.
But recently, something in him had started to shift. Something he wasn’t prepared to admit to just yet. Ever since Amanai Riko’s death, the change had been subtle at first, there were those small signs that he was struggling, pulling away just a little more each day. But now, as the days passed, it became harder to ignore.
Geto Suguru was slipping.
And he didn’t know how to stop it.
He didn’t know how to be more than this.
He didn’t know the way out of it.
He found himself lost in a fog of thoughts he couldn’t quite articulate, his emotions tangled in a web he couldn't find a way out of. The burden of loss weighed heavily on him, crushing him in ways he didn’t know how to handle. But he couldn’t—wouldn’t—let you see it. Not today. Not on your birthday. Not on your last day together.
He had made it a point, from the moment you walked into the room, to be the Suguru you knew. He plastered on that familiar smile, spoke to you like everything was fine, and made sure the day went on like any other.
But the moment you looked away, or when you laughed, or when he caught you looking at him with that softness in your eyes, a heaviness settled deep in his chest. He wanted to say something, to tell you what was really happening, but the words felt like they were caught in his throat, unable to escape.
You had no idea what he was battling inside.
And he couldn’t bear to burden you with it—not on your special day.
It was the evening, the sun sinking low in the sky, and you both sat together on the balcony of his apartment, watching the colors in the sky shift from gold to deep blue. The breeze was warm, and you had your head resting on his shoulder, the same way you had for years. You both sat there in a comfortable silence, but Suguru’s mind was anywhere but there.
"I’m really glad we could spend the day together, Sugu." you said softly, your voice like a melody that brought him back to the present. “Thank you for coming to visit me, even with your busy schedule.”
Suguru nodded, his smile barely there as he kept his gaze on the horizon, afraid if he looked at you too long, you would see the cracks he was trying to hide. "Me too, buttercup." he said, but even to his own ears, the words didn’t sound right. They didn’t carry the weight they should have.
You could feel the subtle shift in his energy, the way he wasn’t fully present. He wasn’t the Geto Suguru you knew, the Sugu who would always make you laugh, who would hold you close and whisper silly things to keep your spirits high. He was distant, almost like a shadow of himself. And you knew he hated it, even without saying it to you.
"Sugu." you said quietly, sitting up to look at him, your hand gently touching his arm. "You okay?"
Suguru flinched, the question catching him off guard. He gave a small, forced laugh, trying to brush it off. "Yeah, I’m fine. Just tired, I guess. I’ve….been very busy."
But you didn’t buy it. You knew him better than anyone else, and you could see the lie in his eyes. But he wasn’t ready to talk, not now, not on the day that was meant to be yours, not on the day that he wanted to protect you from his own chaos. He didn’t want you to see him like this, not when everything was supposed to be perfect.
He wanted to be strong for you, wanted to be the Geto Suguru you deserved, the Geto Suguru that you love, the Geto Suguru you knew. But the weight of the world felt like it was crushing him from the inside, and he didn’t know how to hold it together anymore.
You reached up to touch his cheek, the gesture so simple but full of the warmth you had always shared. "Sugu… you don’t have to hide from me. Not now. Not ever."
He froze at your touch, his lilac eyes shutting softly, even for just a brief second. He wanted to let it all go, wanted to break down in front of you, but he couldn’t. Not like this. Not today. He swallowed hard, the words choking him before he could even say them.
"I’m fine." he repeated, but there was no conviction in his voice. “Really, buttercup. Don’t worry so much about me, okay?”
You didn’t push him further, but the sadness in his once bright eyes told you everything you needed to know. He was breaking inside, but he didn’t want you to see it. He didn’t want you to know. He didn’t want to talk about it just yet. He wasn’t ready. Not yet. And especially not on your last day together.
"Okay." you whispered softly, leaning back against his shoulder once more, both of you falling into silence again.
But Geto Suguru knew. He knew that you would always see through him. And as you sat there, so close, yet so far from what was really happening, he couldn’t help but feel like he was losing grip on everything. He thought he was losing himself, you, on the life you had dreamed of sharing.
And so, the night passed in a quiet sadness, Suguru’s heart heavy with emotions he couldn’t quite express. Tomorrow, he will leave. Tomorrow, everything will change. He knew that all too well. By sunrise, you wouldn’t recognize him anymore. By sunrise, he wouldn’t be your Sugu anymore.
But for tonight, he would hold onto this—hold onto you, and pretend that everything was okay, just for a little while longer. He thinks he could pretend one last time and keep you with him, enjoying the need of warmth that only you could understand.
The evening air was still, the world outside quieting as the stars began to prick the darkening sky. You sat together for a little while, as you waited for the train to come. Geto Suguru’s silence was heavy, but there was a soft, almost palpable tenderness in the way he was beside you. It was always that way, when he was beside you. Even when you were kids.
But the silence was a new thing. This silence was so loud, and yet so deafening. Yet you also didn’t bridge the gap. At least not tonight. He didn’t need it right now and you can tell. You just took a deep breath and waited, staring off the train tracks.
Your Suguru seemed lost in his own thoughts, his calloused fingers absentmindedly tracing patterns on the railing in front of you, his lilac gaze ever so lost in the faraway space. To the place you could not follow.
But you knew it was just his way of trying to hold everything in. Then, after a moment that felt like eternity, he broke the quiet, his voice soft but steady, like he was trying to make it sound casual when it wasn’t.
"I got you something, buttercup." he said, his hand reaching into his pocket. You looked up at him, noticing the faintest tremor in his fingers, but you didn't comment on it.
He pulled out a small, carefully wrapped box, offering it to you with a look that was a mix of hesitation and something deeper, something he couldn’t quite put into words. "I know it’s not much, but I wanted to give you something… meaningful. Like always."
You took the box from him, your little heart fluttering a little in anticipation, not knowing what to expect. Slowly, you unwrapped it with much care, your tender fingers gently peeling back the layers until you saw what was inside.
It was a charm, delicate and beautiful, with a tiny forget-me-not flower carved into its surface. The petals were soft, yet detailed, their edges just slightly raised as if to give them life, to make them feel real. The forget-me-not. It was simple but meaningful, and somehow, it felt like it held everything unsaid between you two in one small, fragile flower.
Suguru’s voice broke the moment, barely above a whisper, but heavy with emotion. "I want you to always remember me, buttercup." he said, his gaze meeting yours, his eyes dark with something you couldn’t place. "No matter what happens, no matter where life takes us, never forget about me."
You froze for a heartbeat, confusion washing over you at his words. Never forget about him?
The thought didn’t make sense. Geto Suguru was more than just a memory; he was the person who had shaped so much of your life, the one who had been there for you through everything. He was your everything. How could you forget him?
You blinked, the knot in your chest tightening as you took in his face, his solemn expression that didn’t match the usual carefree look he wore. Was he already saying goodbye in some way?
You shook your head slowly, the smile coming to your lips, though it carried a mixture of sadness and certainty. "Sugu, how could you even think about that?… I could never forget about you."
“It can happen, you know. Life happens.” He smiles in a small timid manner.
Your voice was soft, but there was no doubt in it. "No, you’re wrong. You’re the most important person in my life. How could I forget someone like you?"
Suguru’s lilac eyes softened at your words, the weight of the moment easing just a little as you spoke. His chapped lips parted slightly, as if he wanted to say something more, but he only let out a quiet, relieved breath, his shoulders relaxing for the first time that evening.
He reached out, gently placing the forget-me-not charm on your bracelet, his fingers lingering there for a moment longer than necessary. "I just… I need to know you’ll always remember. Even when we’re apart.”
"I will, I promise." you said, your voice firm, the sincerity in your words reaching the deepest parts of him. "I’ll always think of you. Every single day, every single hour. Even the seconds. I’ll always remember you, Suguru. You’re too important to forget."
“Is that so?”
You hummed, smiling at him. “Hm. Because I love you.”
For a brief, tender moment, Suguru’s eyes seemed to shine with something that wasn’t just sadness but relief. It was as if the weight of the unspoken fears, the guilt, and the pain he’d been carrying had finally started to lift, just a little. He smiled, a real, heartfelt smile that reached his eyes.
"Good," he said quietly, his voice thick with emotion. "That’s all I need to hear."
And there, under the stars, with the sound of the world fading into a quiet lull, you both sat together. You didn’t need words to fill the silence that had settled between you. The charm on your bracelet was a promise, a symbol of everything you had been through, everything you had shared, and everything that was still to come.
"I love you too, buttercup." Suguru whispered, his voice barely above a breath, but the words carried so much weight, so much meaning that it felt like the whole world had shifted in that instant.
You didn’t hesitate, not for a second. "I know, Sugu. I know." you replied, a soft smile tugging at the corners of your lips, a smile that only he could make appear.
It was a statement, but one that wasn’t born out of arrogance. It was the truth. The truth that had been there all along, between the quiet moments, the shared laughter, the years of growing together. He was your constant, just as you were his.
And you had always known, known in the very marrow of your bones.
he loved you too. More than anything in life. More than the universe could know.
Suguru didn’t immediately respond. He simply stared at you, his gaze softening with an intensity that almost made it hard to breathe. He shifted closer, his hands rising slowly, as if afraid that if he moved too fast, you would vanish in an instant. His fingers brushed against the curve of your jaw before they settled on your cheeks, warm and grounding.
His touch was gentle, the weight of his hands steady against your skin, as though he was afraid to touch you too hard, afraid that any sudden movement would make you slip through his fingers.
His gaze never wavered from your face, and for a long moment, it was like the world faded away. There was nothing but the two of you, him, close enough for you to feel the warmth of his presence, and you, feeling like the universe had shrunk to this moment.
Suguru’s eyes searched for yours, his expression both tender and filled with something deeper, something that only someone who had loved you for so long could understand. It was as though he was memorizing every detail of you.
The way the light caught in your eyes, the curve of your lips, the soft flutter of your lashes when you blinked. He took in your features like he was afraid they would slip away, like time was running out and he couldn’t afford to miss a single second of it.
His thumb traced the outline of your cheekbone, the movement so soft it almost tickled, but it was full of reverence. As if you were something sacred to him, something irreplaceable. As if you were the most important pearl of the world, shining in front of him, making him your sea.
"You’re so beautiful, buttercup." he whispered, and the words held so much more than just a compliment. It was the way he said them, as if he had seen every side of you—your strengths, your flaws, your heart—and still, in every corner of it, you were beautiful to him.
The simplicity of the words took your breath away, and for a moment, you didn’t know how to respond. You just looked at him, feeling the weight of his love like a gentle embrace, like it wrapped around your heart, holding it safe in his hands.
You didn’t need to speak to feel the truth of it all. This moment, this space between you, felt like the entire universe had conspired to bring you to this point, where everything you had shared and everything you had yet to share hung in the balance of this silent exchange.
Suguru leaned in slightly, his breath warm against your skin. You could feel the way his body was still, but there was a pulse of something deep inside him, something he wasn’t fully ready to let go of, not yet. And in that breathless, delicate space, you let your own heart speak.
"I love you, Sugu." you whispered back, your voice trembling just slightly, but filled with a certainty that made everything else fade into the background.
His hands cupped your face a little tighter, his thumbs stroking the soft skin of your cheeks as if you were the only thing that mattered in the world. "I’ll never forget you, buttercup." he murmured, almost as if he was saying it to himself, but you heard it. “You’re everything I am. Everything I breathe.”
The weight of it hung in the air, and though his words were bittersweet, you felt a flicker of hope in them.
"I’ll never forget you either." you whispered, your voice steady and sure, despite the turmoil swirling within you.
Because you knew that no matter where life took you both, Suguru would always be a part of you. No amount of time or distance could change that. “You’re my everything too.”
You leaned into his touch, your foreheads pressing gently together, the warmth of his hands grounding you both in the moment. His lilac eyes closed for a beat, a soft sigh escaping him as if he, too, was trying to hold on to this feeling, trying to commit it to memory just as you were.
And for that brief moment, there was no goodbye. There was only the now, the shared stillness, the love between you both, wrapped up in the quiet understanding that no matter what happened, you would always carry each other with you.
He moved his face closer, his lips brushing softly against your forehead. The kiss was light, like a promise, a silent vow that this love, this sacred bond between the two of you, it would never truly be broken, no matter the miles between you.
Suguru’s lips linger on your forehead for a moment longer, a soft, lingering warmth that makes everything else feel distant, as if time had slowed down just for the two of you.
The world outside the station, the sound of the train tracks, the noises of the city, the ticking of the clock, everything seemed muted, fading into the background as you both existed in this fragile, perfect bubble of quiet.
He pulled back slightly, just enough to meet your gaze, his eyes soft but laden with an unspoken weight. He looked like he wanted to say something more, something important, but the words never quite formed.
Instead, he just studied your face, as if he was trying to memorize everything about you. Every little memory of you, your bright expression, the way your long hair fell around your face, the way your eyes held a kindness that had always been there, even in the most difficult of times.
“I’ll miss you.” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion, a subtle crack breaking through the calm facade he’d been trying so hard to maintain.
You nodded, your heart aching as his words sank in. The truth was, you would miss him too, more than you could ever put into words. You couldn’t even imagine what life would be like without him so close, without his constant presence to steady you.
The thought of the distance between you both made the space around you feel colder, as though the warmth of his touch was already slipping through your fingers.
“I’ll miss you too, Sugu. More than you know.” you whispered back, the truth of it making your voice tremble just slightly.
He smiled, a sad, bittersweet thing, his thumb tracing the outline of your jaw once more, slow and deliberate, like he was savoring every moment.
"Just remember, buttercup." he murmured, his eyes soft but intense. "No matter where we are, no matter how far apart we get, I’ll always be with you. I’ll always be there, in everything we’ve shared."
"I know." you said, nodding again, a small smile tugging at your lips. “And I’ll always carry a piece of you with me. In my heart.”
Geto Suguru’s breath caught at your words, his eyes glistening as if he wanted to say something more, but the emotion was too much, too overwhelming. Instead, he just leaned in and kissed your forehead once more, gentle but full of all the feelings he couldn’t quite express.
“I’ll be waiting, buttercup.” he whispered, his voice low, but there was a fierce determination behind it. “No matter how long it takes. I’ll be waiting for you.”
You looked up at him, your heart full, eyes brimming with something that could have been tears if you let it. You didn’t speak for a moment, just held his gaze, feeling the weight of his words settle into you like a warm, comforting blanket.
Finally, you smiled through the lump in your throat, the quiet sadness blending with something softer, something hopeful. "I’ll come back to you, Sugu. I promise. So come back to me too, okay?"
The words hung between you, a promise sealed in the silence that followed.
He can’t promise something like that to you, not like this now.
By sunrise, he can no longer come back to you, never again.
And yet, he still does, he lets this promise be unfulfilled.
He lets this moment be a little white lie to keep your smile.
Suguru nodded, a small, hopeful smile on his lips, but his eyes, those dark, familiar eyes, held a quiet ache. He didn’t say anything else, just stayed close, his hand still on your cheek, his presence steady even though the moment was winding down. The night was still, and it felt like time was slipping away too fast.
“I should go, buttercup.” Suguru said, his voice tinged with reluctance. "But I’ll see you again, right? You’ll visit me when you can, won’t you?"
You nodded, already knowing how much this meant to him. You smiled tenderly at him, you smiled at him like you loved him. You smiled at him like he deserves to have it. And yet he doesn’t. The devil does not deserve such a thing.
"Of course I will." you reassured him, reaching up to touch his hand, the one that had stayed on your cheek. "I won’t let you forget about me."
His smile grew just a little, and for the first time in what felt like forever, there was a glimmer of peace in his eyes. "I could never forget about you."
And with that, he gave you one last kiss on the forehead, light and full of everything unsaid, full of everything you would carry with you in your heart. He pulled back slowly, his hand slipping from your cheek to your hand.
His fingers lingering for a moment longer, as though reluctant to let go. Then, with a final, lingering look, he turned and made his way toward the door. He didn't want to leave. He didn't want this to be the last time. But he had to. He had to go.
He let himself step into it, the door closing softly behind him. For a moment, you felt the weight of the world shift. The quiet that followed his departure felt louder than any noise, and yet, somehow, you knew you’d be okay. You’d carry him with you, just like you promised.
The night grew darker, but the small forget-me-not charm on your bracelet caught the light, reminding you of everything you had shared. It was more than just a memory, it was a piece of him that you could hold on to, no matter where life took you both.
Geto Suguru was always going to be a part of you. And no matter the distance, no matter how much time passed, you would never forget him. He was the most important part of your life, and that would never change.
Two days later, you got the call.
He had gone missing, his parents were gone.
And you?
You had lost the love of your life.
That was his goodbye.

epilogue
A LONG TIME HAD COME AND GONE, BUT IT STILL FEELS LIKE YESTERDAY. Seven years had passed since Geto Suguru’s defection from the jujutsu society, since the time he turned away from everything he once held dear. Time had blurred the edges of the past for everyone except him.
He had tried to move on, he knew he had to. He had all but tried to bury his memories deep enough so that they no longer haunted him. But there were days when everything came rushing back to him.
The horror on his parents faces that night, their deaths at his own hands, the ones he had betrayed, the village consumed by blue flame. And then there was you, the love he had lost and left. The one he had let go and fly away.
From the shadows, Suguru watched you kneel before the graves, the sun hanging low in the sky, casting long shadows across the quiet cemetery. You were gentle with the flowers, your movements soft as you arranged the bouquets on the gravestones, your fingers careful as they brushed away the dust that had accumulated over time.
He had never imagined, in his darkest moments, that he would see you here—so close, yet so far away from everything he had become. But there you were, tending to the graves of the parents he had killed, as if it was something he had never been able to do. You were doing it for him, in a way, even though you didn’t have to.
He had heard the stories about it all. He had to keep his tabs on you, he just couldn’t stay away, even now. Throughout the years, he heard whispers of how you had married, how you had continued on without him, a life of your own.
He had known that it was bound to happen, but it didn’t make it any easier. To see you with a ring on your finger, a life that no longer had a place for him, a life that had moved on while he stayed stuck in his past.
The soft rustle of the wind moved through the trees, and that was when you turned your head, your eyes meeting his. For a moment, the world seemed to stand still. You blinked, as if you weren’t quite sure you were seeing him, but then there was no mistaking it.
Geto Suguru was standing there, just outside the cemetery gate, watching you with that same quiet intensity that had always been his. The world seemed to hold its breath as you slowly rose to your feet, the weight of his gaze pulling you in.
He didn’t speak at first, not knowing what to say.
After all this time, what was there left to say?
He had left you and you had suffered.
What could someone who broke their promise say?
You walked toward him, your expression unreadable but steady, your steps purposeful. As you got closer, he noticed the glint of sunlight on your finger, and his breath hitched before he could stop himself. The wedding ring.
It was a beautiful thing, one could say. But when he looked at it, it was all but a bitter ugly, disgusting thing. It was a reminder of the life you had. A life he had never been a part of, a life he had given up on when he made the choices he did.
You stopped in front of him, your gaze unwavering. You looked at him for a long moment, your eyes searching his face, almost as if you were still trying to figure him out after all this time. "I didn’t think you’d come back here." you said quietly, your voice thick with something he couldn’t place. Maybe it was sorrow. Maybe it was a relief.
Suguru felt a pang in his chest, but he swallowed it down. "I didn’t think I would either." His voice was rough, almost foreign to him after so many years of silence, but the words still carried weight. "But... here I am."
Your gaze flickered to the bracelet on your wrist—the one with the forget-me-not, the buttercup, the book charm. It was a silent progression that told a story. A long forgotten story, one that only you and him could remember. It was at one point his story. His presence, his absence, his love. And now it wasn’t. Not anymore.
That Geto Suguru is dead.
All that remains is an imposter.
All that remains is a devil.
"I never took it off." you said, a small, sad smile playing at the corner of your lips. "You told me to never forget you. I thought I would, after all these years... but I never could."
Your fingers traced the charms lightly, the memory of the years that had passed between you both lingering in the air like a ghost. "I couldn’t take it off, Suguru. Not even when it felt like I should."
He couldn’t quite hide the sadness that flickered in his eyes at your words, but he didn’t look away. He had been the one to leave. He had been the one to make all the wrong decisions, and yet, somehow, you had never given up on him. You had never completely forgotten him.
Suguru reached into his pocket slowly, his movements deliberate, as though he were unsure of his next step. He pulled out a small charm, delicate and beautiful, white chrysanthemums this time, it was an offering of something new, something that said goodbye and hello being said like it was the same word.  He held it out to you, his eyes never leaving yours.
"For you." he whispered, his voice barely audible, but full of all the unspoken feelings that had built up over the years. "I know it’s too late. But I want you to have it."
You took it from him, your fingers brushing against his for just a heartbeat before you looked down at the charm in your palm. The white chrysanthemums were soft, intricate, and they reminded you of the fleeting nature of everything. It was full of the memories, the love, the pain.
You smiled, a bittersweet curve of your lips, your heart heavy with a mixture of emotions that you had long buried. "Sugu….Suguru." you began, your voice steady but thick with something he could almost taste. "For so long, TYou wanted to be remembered. But now... you want to be forgotten."
His heart clenched at your words, but he nodded slowly, as if he had already known, as if it was something he could never change. "You deserve better than to remember a ghost of someone long gone, buttercup." he said, his voice soft but full of the kind of finality that only a ghost could understand. "You deserve a life that’s yours, not one haunted by me."
The distance between you seemed so vast in that moment, even though you were standing right in front of him. The years had stretched that gap wide, and yet, in this final moment, you both understood each other completely.
You stood there, the weight of his words heavy between you both, as the space around you seemed to quiet. The cool breeze rustled the trees, the only sound in the air, but even it felt like a distant whisper against the rawness of the moment.
You opened your mouth, a million things on the tip of your tongue, but none of them felt right. Your heart was full of so much you couldn’t put into words. A thousand emotions flooded your chest/
And yet, you felt an aching kind of clarity in his request. You hadn’t expected it. You hadn’t expected him to say those words, to say that he wanted you to forget him. To leave him behind as if he were nothing more than a faded memory.
He stood before you, his back slightly turned, but he didn’t move away. His eyes, those dark, familiar eyes, were locked onto the distance, as though he was already gone in his mind, already on his way to somewhere far from this place, from you.
You swallowed hard, your gaze flickering over his face, trying to catch any hint of a smile, of the warmth that had once been there between you both. But it was gone. Everything had long perished to nothing.
The man in front of you wasn’t the same person you had known all those years ago, and deep down, you knew that neither were you. You had both changed, time had done its work, and the world had swept you in different directions.
"So, if I see you again—" you started, unsure of where to take the conversation, unsure of whether there even was a conversation left to have.
Suguru’s smile was sad, almost imperceptible, but it was there, and it tugged at your heart more than anything else. “Pass by, buttercup.” he said, his voice so soft, so worn. "Don’t look at me. You shouldn’t remember me. Just...."
Let me go. He thinks to himself. Don't love me again.
The simplicity of his request hit you harder than any words of anger or resentment could have. You shouldn’t remember me. He was asking you, begging you, to forget him. As though he was a shadow, a passing thing, unworthy of your attention, of your love, of your memories.
For a moment, you just stood there, your heart pounding in your chest, your mind spinning with the weight of it all. You wanted to shout, to argue, to tell him that he was wrong—that you couldn’t just erase him from your life like he was nothing.
But the silence in the air, the finality in his tone, made you hesitate. It wasn’t anger you heard in his voice. It wasn’t even regret. It was something else entirely. it was something deeper, something rooted in the pain he had carried all these years.
“I can’t just forget you.” you whispered, the words slipping out before you could stop them. The truth was raw and simple, and it echoed in your chest as it passed through your lips. "I’ve carried you with me for so long, Suguru. I can’t just erase you from my life."
Suguru turned his head slightly, just enough to meet your gaze, his eyes dark and filled with something you couldn’t quite place. It wasn’t guilt or anger, but something quieter, something softer, as though he was bracing himself for the weight of what he had just asked you to do.
"You don’t need to carry me anymore." he said, his voice barely audible, each word dragging with the weight of a thousand regrets. "I don’t deserve to be remembered. Not by you. Not by anyone. I’ve become someone else, someone I never meant to be."
His eyes drifted to the ground, and for a moment, he looked almost... defeated. "I hurt too many people, and in the end, I hurt you too."
Those words hung in the air like a star waiting to fall from the sky but they didn’t sting, nor did they cause you any pain. Instead, they felt like the closing of a door, the end of a chapter that had been written in too much pain. You felt your heart ache, but you understood. You had mourned it long ago and this was just the end. The final bow.
You understood because, deep down, you had always known this moment would come. You had always known that one day, Geto Suguru would fade from your life, not because of time or distance, but because he had made himself into something unrecognizable.
You stepped closer, closer than you had been in so many years, the distance between you two now defined not by physical space but by something more profound, something that time had created. Your hand reached out but you stopped. You had to. You knew you can't do this. You purse your lips into a flat line.
“I see.” You whispered, barely audible over the deafening silence between you. It was as if the world had swallowed your words before they could reach him, and the weight of it all pressed down on your chest like a heavy fog.
"I'm sorry." you murmured, feeling the familiar sting of regret in your heart.
But the words felt useless now, just as they always had when it came to him. Too many apologies, too many unanswered questions. It was all too late. Geto Suguru shook his head ever so slightly, his dark lilac eyes never leaving the distance beyond you, his voice low but firm.
“Don’t apologize to me.” he murmured, the edges of his words soft but carrying a weight that made your heart ache. "I should apologize…"
His eyes finally met yours, and for that brief moment, you saw a flicker of vulnerability, something raw and unguarded that he had never allowed anyone to see.
“Buttercup, I’m letting your hand go.” he said, and his voice cracked on the last word, like it pained him to even say it.
You could feel the tears pricking at your eyes, threatening to spill, but you fought them back, the lump in your throat making it harder to breathe. It was too much. Too much to lose, too much to let go of.
“I know.” you replied, your voice barely a whisper as if saying it out loud would make it all more real. The finality of his words clung to the air, and you wished you could take them back, take him back, but the truth had already been laid bare.
“Goodbye, buttercup.” he said, the words both tender and final, and they fell like a stone into the abyss between you.
“Good… good-bye, Suguru.” you managed to choke out, your voice shaking but steady enough to carry the weight of the moment. Your lips trembled, but you didn’t dare look away from him. There was nothing more to say, nothing more that could fix the pieces that had been shattered between you two.
Geto Suguru gave you one last look. It was so brief, so fleeting, like the last ray of light before the darkness settled in. His gaze lingered on you, a final connection between two souls that had once shared everything but now, they were a thousand miles apart.
He didn’t say anything else.
He didn’t look back, not once.
He simply turned, his figure growing smaller and smaller as he walked away.
Your heart tightened, but you didn’t move. You couldn’t. There was no running after him anymore. He had already made his choice, and you had to respect that, even though it felt like a piece of you was being torn away with every step he took.
His footsteps were quiet against the earth, a soft rhythm that carried him further into the distance, further away from you, from everything you had ever known. And you stood there, frozen, unable to move, unable to make sense of the emptiness that filled the space where his presence used to be.
You watched him disappear into the horizon, the last connection between you both unraveling like a thread slipping through your fingers. But this time, you didn’t chase after him. You didn’t need to. You didn’t have the strength anymore.
There were no more promises, no more hopes of reunion. This was the end of the story that had once been yours, the final chapter in a love that had burned so brightly but had faded into the past. The world had changed, and so had you.
You would never see him again. He would never hold your hand again, never smile that gentle smile that had always made you feel like you were home. And you could feel the weight of that truth pressing down on you, but it didn’t break you.
It was the end of that world. Of the two of you, of the way you had been, of everything that once felt like it was meant to be. And so, you let go. You let go, even as it hurt, even as it felt like the most impossible thing in the world.
You couldn’t love him anymore. Not like you used to. Not in the way that kept him a part of your every thought, every moment. You couldn’t carry that burden with you forever, and you couldn’t make him stay.
As he disappeared completely from sight, you finally exhaled the breath you’d been holding, a quiet sigh that seemed to carry away the remnants of him still lingering in your chest. It wasn’t easy. It would never be easy. But it was the only way forward.
You took a slow step back, your feet heavy with the weight of all the years you had spent loving him. You weren’t sure what the future held, but you knew one thing for certain. You had to let him, or you'll both suffer more.

Ms. Heart🎨: The kids are saying they saw Coach Harrington carrying you out to the parking lot…tell me they’re kidding
Mr. Munson🎸: “Carrying” is an exaggeration…
You see the “Incoming FaceTime Call” notification pop up on the screen of your phone and hurry to shut your classroom door.  Even though it’s nearing the end of the day, and this is technically your planning period, sometimes kids still like to come in and hang out in your classroom.  You had a feeling that Eddie wouldn’t want any students around to hear this call though.
Your anxiety is momentarily forgotten when you see his handsome face on your screen after answering the FaceTime call.  Even after almost three weeks of knowing him, it still surprises you how gorgeous the man is.  You’re focused on the curve of his sexy grin, but you can't help but notice the subtle winces peaking through it.   You can tell he’s in the passenger seat of a truck, Steve’s truck you’re guessing, and your theory is confirmed when the man in question grabs the phone from Eddie’s hands and puts it up to his face.
“Well hello there Ms. Art Teacher!  You’ll never guess what your guy got himself into now–wait a second,” he turns to look at Eddie with an appalled expression ,”Why is your lady’s name in your phone ‘Ms. Heart’?”
Eddie snatches his phone back from Steve’s hands and can barely hear the sound of you laughing from the other end.  You and him both know that you put your names in each other's phones as your ‘teacher names,’ just in case someone were to see a notification and get suspicious.  You still have yet to go public with your new relationship, and Eddie is counting down the days until he can let everyone know you’re his girl.
“Will you stop calling her ‘my lady’? You sound like a douche.”
Steve lets out a triumphant laugh. “Yeah, right.  This douche is getting laid on the regular pal.  I’ll hear your opinions on my vocabulary when you can say the same.”
Eddie looks back at your face on his screen, noticing how you’re blushing at Steve’s words.  He throws you a wink, just to see your reaction, and he isn’t disappointed.  You turn even redder and throw your free hand over your face to cover your smile.
Steve’s words don’t bother you exactly, but you’d be lying if you said you hadn’t been devoting a lot of time to thinking about whether or not Eddie cares that the two of you haven’t slept together yet.  It’s not that you don’t want to, of course you want to.  You’ve been wanting to climb that man like a tree since the moment he first spoke to you at orientation.  There just hasn’t been time to even approach that topic with the school year starting and the craziness of it all.
You and Eddie are smiling bashfully at each other through the screen when he grunts in pain.  The phone shakes at the same time, and you remember that Steve is driving Eddie somewhere.
“Fuck, man.  Can you try not to drive into every pothole you see?”
Steve scoffs, “Yeah sure.  Lemme just swerve around them and into all the other cars on the road.  Then we’d both be injured.”
Both? Both? Meaning one of them already is?
“Eddie?” you ask.  He can tell by the sound of the question that you're on the verge of panic, so he smiles at you through the screen.
“Yes, sweet girl?”  You can hear Steve’s fake gag in the background at Eddie’s use of the pet name for you, but it doesn’t stop the lovesick smile from trying to make its way onto your lips.
Eddie finds it particularly entertaining to try out all the different pet names on you to see which ones will make you blush the hardest.  He says he keeps an Excel spreadsheet so he can track the data…but you’re pretty sure he’s lying.  Okay, maybe 75% sure.
You point a finger at him sternly. “Quit trying to distract me.  Tell me what’s going on please.”  Eddie would have to be a fool to resist your sweet request, so he gives in.
“There may have been a little incident while I was putting away equipment after 6th period…”
Steve guffaws, “Yeah, I’ll say.  Your man dropped a 40 pound speaker on his foot!”  Eddie’s hand slaps to his forehead with a groan, he had planned on breaking the news a little gentler to you, and perhaps in a way that didn’t make him look like a total idiot.
Your mouth drops in horror, “What?”
Eddie instantly jumps into trying to calm you down, “Honey, it’s really not that bad–”
“–I heard a crunch!”
“Steve!  Please.”
You take a deep, grounding breath.  “Eddie, just talk please.”
Eddie reaches over to smack Steve before speaking.  “Steve was in my classroom because we were planning on moving a couple speakers out to the fields for the game tonight.  The one I was carrying slipped and landed a little bit on my foot, that’s all.”  He tries his best to speak calmly to keep you from panicking, but it’s hard to ignore the throbbing pain in his right foot.
“Eddie!  Are you okay?  How bad does it hurt?”  You wish you were with him instead of pacing around in your empty classroom.
“I can barely feel it sweetheart, I’d rate it a three out of ten.”
Steve scoffs loudly, “Okay buddy, that’s not what it sounded like when I was carrying your ass out of school.”
Eddie turns to fix Steve with a glare, “I still had one foot on the ground, dude.  You were not carrying me.”  He turns back to look at your face through the screen, “He wasn’t carrying me.”
You hear Steve laughing off screen and Eddie rolls his eyes.  You can’t help but to laugh a little too at the absurdity of it all.  “Where are you heading to?”
“We’re going to the ER.  Personally, I think that’s a little dramatic, but mama bear over here…”
Steve passionately chimes in, “It’s important to treat every injury with the same level of seriousness, even the minor ones!”
“I actually agree with him on this one, Ed.” you say with a soft smile.  Eddie swoons internally.
He’s able to overlook your choice of Steve’s side due to your use of the nickname.  You’ve been a bit hesitant about using pet names with him the way he does with you, but you’ve assured him time and time again that it’s only because you’ve never dated a guy who actually liked any of that stuff before.  You’re working your way up to Eddie’s level of nicknames, and ‘Ed’ has been a recent development in that process.  Eddie loves it.
“Gimme the phone man,” Steve’s hand juts into the screen expectantly, swiping the phone from Eddie’s grasp.  “Hey Ms. Artsy, do you think you’ll be able to give this guy a ride back home? Our first home game is in a couple hours, and the boys can’t play without their coach.”
You had almost forgotten about the football game tonight.  Your students had been amped up all day long about it, convincing you to help them paint signs to hold up at the game during class time.  You were planning on asking Eddie if he wanted to go, but you weren’t sure how he felt about attending a school event together.  The status of your relationship wasn’t necessarily a secret, but still not very many people knew.
“Of course I can!  I just have to clean up a bit and I’ll be right there.”
“Thanks, teach.” Steve hands the phone back to Eddie, who’s been sulking in the passenger seat because he missed your face.
You smile at him, “Hang tight, I’ll see you soon okay?”
Eddie smiles, “Okaayyy–!” His voice cuts off in a pained grunt before the call ends, leading you to assume that Steve had once again hit a pothole.
-
You’re a ball of nerves as you pull in to park outside of the emergency room.  Thankfully, you’re the type of person who keeps their car relatively clean, but that didn’t stop you from doing a once over just to make extra sure there wasn’t any mess.  Why were you so anxious to drive with Eddie?  Maybe the stress from the past hour just has you wound extra tight.
Nervous as you may be, you can’t help but to walk with a bounce in your step as you approach the entrance.  Seeing Eddie is always the highlight of your day, and you couldn’t wipe the growing grin off your face if you tried.  You just hope he isn’t in too much pain, your heart lurches at the thought of him being hurt in any way.
Thanks to impeccable timing, you spot Eddie and Steve walking down the hallway you’ve just entered into.  You notice the papers in Steve’s hands, and the crutches that Eddie is already seemingly irritated by.  Your eyes meet as he looks up, and the crease between his furrowed eyebrows is gone in an instant as a smile lights up his face.  Steve can’t help but smile along as he watches Eddie hobble a little faster on his crutches towards you.
God, he missed you today.  He loves the color of the top you’re wearing, the way your jeans hug your thighs, the curve of your smile, and he might just love you too, although he probably shouldn’t tell you that part just yet.
Steve checks his watch for the hundredth time since he and Eddie had arrived at the ER, running a hand through his hair anxiously.  He hands you the papers the doctor gave them with care instructions and pain medication prescriptions before you can even say hello.
“Okay, team.  Kick-off is in thirty minutes, and I gotta jet.”  He looks to you, already in ‘coach’ mode.  “Here are the papers from the doctor, the do’s and don'ts for a bruised foot bone, care instructions, ya-da ya-da.  His prescription can be picked up after 6, there’s a pharmacy around the corner that’s open til 10.”
You take the papers from him and nod your head, trying to commit all the information to memory.
“Wish me luck guys!”  Steve jogs away, fist pumping the air. “Go Tigers!”
You turn to face Eddie, the both of you wearing matching smiles and shaking your heads at Steve’s theatrics.  You move a bit closer to Eddie, yearning for a hug but not sure if it’s a good idea.
As if he can read your mind, Eddie grins, “Can a hurt guy get a hug? I’m not able to hug you back at this moment but I’ll make it up to you later.”
You step into his space and wrap your arms around his waist, laying your head on his chest and breathing him in.  How does he still smell so good after teaching all day long?
He rests his cheek on the top of your head, wondering the same thing about you.  How could someone’s hair possibly be this soft and smell this amazing?  This.  This is what he’s been waiting for all day long.  God, you feel so good pressed against him like this.  If he wasn’t such a gentleman, he’d let the stirring of his cock in his jeans distract him from the pain in his foot, but unfortunately the two of you are still standing in the middle of the ER.
“Shall we?”
“Yup!” You reluctantly pull away from his warmth and move to his side to walk with him. You notice him holding his black Dr. Marten’s boot by its laces in one of his hands, then you look down to see his right foot, heavily wrapped in tan bandages.
“Be honest, does it hurt?” you ask as you take his boot from him so that he can have a better grasp on his crutch.
Eddie sighs, hanging his head.  “I mean, it’s definitely throbbing still.”
“Aw, you poor thing.” You reach up to brush a stray curl out of Eddie’s face, and he can’t help but to lean into your touch like a dog when you use that tone of voice.
You hope he’ll let you take him back to your house instead of his own.  The idea of taking care of him and doting on him has you smiling already.
“Wanna go back to my house?” Eddie feels his ears perk up at the thought of getting to go to your house again. “I can take you back to yours to get some clothes and stuff, but I don’t like the idea of leaving you there alone when you can’t drive yourself.”
Eddie knows he wouldn’t necessarily be alone, but having Steve Harrington as a roommate often feels like living alone.  Not in a bad way of course, it’s just that Steve is rarely ever at home unless he’s with a woman for the night or hungover in the morning.
“You sure you want me at your place all weekend long?” Eddie’s giving you an out.  He’s fully aware that the two of you haven’t spent the night together before, and the last thing he wants you to think is that he expects anything from you.
“Why wouldn’t I? We’ll be super lazy together.  We can watch movies, eat junk food, take naps…it’ll be awesome.”  You look up at him with a giddy smile and Eddie knows he would agree to anything you said.
“Sounds perfect,” he murmurs against your forehead before pressing two kisses there.
“I parked just ahead in the front row, I didn’t want you to have to go very far but I can still pull the car up here if you feel like you don’t want to go that far.  You must be exhausted.”
He feels his chest warm, you’re the sweetest thing he’s ever seen.  “I’ll be fine, baby.  I can make it.”  He has to work hard to focus on operating his crutches and not your sweet smile, it would be very un-cool of him to fall flat on his face in this parking lot right now.
He manages to make it all the way to your car, putting his crutches in your backseat and hopping over to the passenger side.  You make sure to open the door for him, not moving until you’re sure he’s safe in the seat and buckled up.  You hope he doesn’t think your hovering is annoying.
Eddie thinks your hovering is adorably sweet.
As soon as you get in and start the car, Eddie asks to see your phone.
“Sure,” you fish it from your purse and hand it to him, “Passcode is 0102.  You gonna DJ?”
“Nope, your car, your tunes honey.  I’m just putting in my address so you know where you’re going.”
“I remember where you live, Ed,” you giggle.  “I’ve been to your place before, remember?”
Of course he remembers, you let him cook you dinner twice and both times you fell asleep in each other’s arms halfway through ‘Back To The Future.’  Maybe this weekend you’ll finally be able to finish it.
“Well, alrighty then.  I’m sorry I ever doubted you, my lady.” You laugh at his dramatics and reverse out of the parking space.
“You’d be wise to never do it again, good sir,” you reply in a medieval accent similar to the one Eddie spoke in.  He’s thankful that you’re distracted by navigating yourself out of the parking lot and not able to see the way his face flushes and his jeans tighten around his groin at your reciprocated dramatics.  You’re so hot when you talk nerdy to him.  You’re so hot all the time.
Eddie sits back and takes in the image of you driving, one he’s never seen before.  He chuckles a bit at how proper you’re sitting, back straight and hands at ten and two on the wheel.
“Ease up, baby.  You’re not being graded right now,” he laughs.
You laugh along, a little embarrassed. “I know, I drive like a dork.”  You look over at him, exasperated.  “I just don’t feel prepared if I’m slouching or driving one handed!  You never know what could happen.”
“Careful, you’re starting to sound like Steve “Mama Bear” Harrington,” he teases.
You scoff and roll your eyes, still smiling.
“Can you put on some music please?  Driving without it weirds me out.”
“Sure,” Eddie chuckles, opening up the ‘Spotify’ app on your phone. “Uh-oh, look who’s in the hot seat now.  Time to take a peek at your ‘On Repeat.’”
You laugh but hold your head up proudly.  “Peek away Mr. Munson.  I’ve got nothing to hide, I am who I am.”
“Yeah we’ll see about that,” Eddie mumbles as he locates the playlist and hits shuffle.  He can’t believe his ears when the opening chords to ‘One Of These Nights” by Eagles play from your speakers.  His head snaps up towards you, and you can’t help but to burst out laughing at the bewildered look on his face.
“You know, I actually feel like a total asshole right now.  This is an amazing song.” He looks at you like he’s proud of you, and your chest feels warmer.
By the time the song is nearing its end, Eddie’s trying to catch his breath from attempting to hit the highest notes and you’re breaking your “ten and two” rule by clutching your stomach because you’ve been laughing so hard that it hurts.
Eddie vaguely recognizes the next song as a showtune, but doesn’t comment on it because he’s too caught up in you.
You, still laughing out loud with your widest smile and the setting sun outlining your silhouette in a golden-orange glow.  He can’t believe he’s in your car, that you’re driving him around, the goddess that you are.  You’re ethereal.  Other-worldly.
You’re starting to look concerned.
After coming down from your laughing fit, you turn to find Eddie staring at you with a dazed and confused look in his eye.  Being that he’s fresh out of the Emergency Room, you’re instantly a bit concerned for his well being.
“Eddie?  Are you feeling okay?”
He blinks a few times before responding, “S-sorry, it’s just…you are so goddamn beautiful.”
Will you ever get used to this floaty warm feeling in your chest?  Luckily for you, he says this while you pull your car into his driveway.  You put the car into park, and lean your head back onto the headrest, no doubt sporting a smile that’s as lovesick as you feel.
You look at him and whisper, “Thank you.”  Shy fingers reach out to take his hand that rests on your center console, and he’s quick to hold on tight.  Without breaking eye contact with you, Eddie brings your hand up to his mouth and presses two warm kisses to your knuckles.  He then uses that hand to pull you towards him, stopping when your faces are only inches apart.
“Thank you for driving me,” he whispers, unable to look away from your soft lips.
“You’re welcome,” you sigh, wishing he would just kiss you already.
Eddie’s loving the effect he has on you.  He notices your chest rising and falling faster, the breathy tone of your voice, the darkness taking over your eyes.
He finally leans in and presses his lips to yours gently.  This kiss is much softer than your first one, there’s no urgency or tenacity.  This kiss lets you know that there will be many more to come.  You can’t remember a time where you’d been handled any gentler than this.  Eddie’s holding your face like you’re a rare jewel, like you’re priceless and valuable, and he kisses you like he’s trying to worship you.
It feels like your lips are dancing together, this feels practiced and choreographed and natural.
You’re so going to fall in love with this man.
He pulls away after what could’ve been five hours or five seconds, either way it’s far too soon.  Your mouth chases his lips, making him chuckle softly as he drops kisses onto your nose, cheeks, forehead and chin.
You smile, thoroughly enjoying being doted on like this.
Eddie backs away once and for all, smoothing your hair out of your face with both hands, his smile matching yours.
“So pretty.”
You blush harder, if it’s even possible, and let out a happy sigh.
And with both hands on either side of your face, Eddie obviously uses this opportunity to smush your cheeks together so that your lips pucker.
“Even prettier,” He leans forward and plants one on you, “Let’s get inside, I can hear my bed calling our names.”
He quickly corrects himself when he sees your eyes widen, “F-for a nap!  I’m tired, you’re probably tired.  Nap time.”
Eddie is sure he’s totally mortified you until he spots you trying to hide your bashful smile and pink cheeks as you undo your seatbelt and get out of the car.  Maybe you’d be into more than nap time?  Why the fuck did he call it ‘nap time’?
You’re an idiot, Eddie.  That’s why.  She’s not going to fuck you while you have a stupid bruised and use words like ‘nap time.’
He’s still shaking his head at himself when you open the passenger door, looking at him expectantly.  Oh that’s right, you’re going to help him hobble to his own front door, because he’s an idiot who dropped a goddamn amp on his fucking foot.
Eddie hits his head backwards on the headrest with a sigh, “I feel so un-cool right now.”
The sound of your laugh eases his pain a little.
“You’ll live.  C’mon, big boy,”  You chuckle, smirking and looking down on him from where you stand outside your car.
You open the door to the backseat to grab his crutches and your purse, and Eddie starts to question himself as he feels his dick twitch at your use of the new nickname.  Perhaps it’s something the two of you can explore down the line…he needs to stop thinking about sex with you or else he’ll pop a very obvious boner and scare you off.
A quick recalling of the mental image that’s seared into his mind of Mrs. Bedson, the 57 year old choir teacher, bumping and grinding with the tennis coach at last year’s prom does the trick.  Eugh.  Eddie shivers at the memory.
You pop back up with his crutches under your arm, reaching your other one down to help him up.  He doesn’t need the help, but he takes your hand anyway because it feels so right to hold it.
You unlock his front door with his keys, and then the two of you head inside.  After placing your purse on one of the hooks in the entryway while simultaneously toeing your shoes off, you turn to him with a teasing smile.
“Nap time?”
He laughs, “Yeah, yeah.  Nap time.”

Summer was my first muse.. (JJ Maybank X shy! kook! reader) Part 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: Hey loves! this is the second installment of summer was my first love and i just wanna say i love ya'll. You're all so nice, even the people simply liking, means a lot that my work is getting read. And the people asking to be on the taglist- you make my day. Anyway, here's your chapter, we're getting another interaction which I'm quite frankly very proud about. I like to think the reader is so funny, without actually trying, love her for wandering around the beach in skating attire. This work is dedicated to my friend, gwen :) love you wifey.
Summary: JJ Maybank spots you on the beach and discovers that his so-called good conversation skills are basically useless when it comes to you :) (although he still tries.)
Tumblr media
You didn't know why you fell in love with JJ Maybank. He wasn't exactly the type of guy your parents would want you bringing home. Not with the reputation he liked to carry around just like you carried your camera or board. Well, until one day in 5th grade when your mom snooped through your diary and realized just how much you had been crushing on the blond hellion. Since then, your parents took a liking on the idea of you bringing home the guy who charmed his way into the heart of little 3rd grade you. But that was wishful thinking on theirs and Maisy's parts.
God, he was beautiful. His eyes were a shade of blue that you never quite managed to color match when looking for paint colors. The dimple on his cheek never failed to make your knees buckle and your tummy do a flip. You liked to think that if you actually had the courage to ever paint him, you'd paint JJ Maybank with gold specks deep in his baby blue irises and a boyish grin that managed to honor his dimple and the crow's feet by his eyes.
From this angle, the sun hit his hair just right, and despite being shrouded by the tree line you could still see the way the breeze brushed gently through the strands, messing them up and making them dance around his head like a halo. He's smiling, eyes crinkled at the corners like they do every time he's laughing or telling a story, and your finger hovers over the shutter-release button for a few moments simply just admiring him, before snapping a picture. It was like he was created to be photographed or painted, his smile and features so symmetrical that you envied him sometimes.
You watch as leans down and grabs a beer can, not paying too much attention at the hand offering it to him. He retrieves a small switch-blade from his board shorts' pocket and makes a small incision at the bottom of the of the can and bringing it to his lips. He successfully shot guns the can of Natty light and one-two-three.. click! another picture. You lower the camera and study the picture on the display, reaching up to adjust your glasses with a soft flick of your finger.
You liked photographing other things aside from JJ Maybank. Nature being second best on your 'favorites' list. The sky was so beautiful and the marsh and beach were your favorite places. The small creatures and the greenery or the ocean were your favorite attractions and no matter how many times you photographed them, they never looked the same. But as you wandered through the marsh that summer day, you ended at the edge of the tree-line, on the beach sitting none other than JJ, surrounded by his usual crowd of people, John B, Pope and Kiara, Sarah Cameron being an addition to their group a little later.
You didn't follow him out here. Much less with the intention of snapping secret snapshots from between the trees. Still, you felt like a creep... You raised the camera to your eyes again, capturing another shot. JJ was now gazing out at the water, pointing to the waves and laughing about something you couldn't hear. The scene was beautiful, his joy infectious. You lowered the camera and finally stepped out from the tree line onto the beach, frowning to yourself as you stepped on the sand, the texture of it already annoying you given you were wearing your beat up sneakers. There was a considerable distance between you, JJ and his crowd, so you weren't worried about being spotted or approached by him or his friends.
As you walked along the shoreline, your eyes were drawn to a starfish that had been washed up by the waves. Its delicate limbs sprawled out on the sand, glistening in the sun light. You decided to photograph it before releasing it back into the water. Crouching on the soft sand, you brought the camera's lens closer to the small creature, snapping a picture and then inspecting it happily.
The starfish, a fragile beauty against the damp sand, seemed to encapsulate a moment of pure serenity. A stark contrast from your everyday internal dialogue. How lucky was she, getting to live in complete silence and have people like you release her back into the ocean after being photographed?
JJ was still chatting and laughing with his friends, completely oblivious to your presence on the beach. He was in the midst of explaining the importance of timing waves while surfing when he suddenly caught a glimpse of something in his periphery view. He turned his head slightly and spotted you for the first time, kneeling on the sand a few yards away from him and his friends. He stopped mid-sentence, his attention momentarily shifting from his friends to you. He watched you kneel in the sand, taking pictures of a starfish that had been washed up by the waves.
He stared at you for a moment, his eyes narrowed slightly as if trying to figure out why you always seemed to show up in the most random places, and why the hell were you wearing jeans and a hoodie to the beach? He had never really paid much attention to you before, but now he couldn’t help but be slightly curious about you.
He watched as you photographed the starfish, your face completely hidden behind the camera. He wondered what was so interesting about a simple starfish, but the longer he looked at you, the more intrigued he became.
You gently lifted the starfish after capturing its delicate beauty through your lens. With careful hands, you released it back into the water, watching as it gracefully disappeared beneath the waves. Your focus shifted to the rhythmic dance of the sea.
Raising the camera once again, you framed a shot of the sun's golden reflection on the waves. The light shimmered and danced on the water's surface, creating a breathtaking scene. This picture would need a bit of editing, but it was certainly worthy of posting on your Instagram. Aside from the pictures of JJ, of course. Those were just for you. You knew it might sound a bit strange and even creepy, but you weren't doing anything with the pictures. Besides, JJ wasn't the only one you photographed; he was just particularly captivating through your lens.
JJ continued watching you as you released the starfish back into the water, his curiosity growing with each passing second. He watched as you lifted your camera once more, snapping a picture of the sun reflecting off the waves. He couldn’t help but wonder what you found so interesting about the simple waves. He usually found himself taming the waves when he was out on the water, not admiring and taking pictures of them.
He found your interest in photography and natural beauty to be almost foreign to him. He’s always thought that everyone's interest laid in parties and surfing, not something so pure and quiet.
He sat there for a few minutes, continuing to watch you as you took more photographs of the ocean and the shoreline. He kept waiting for you to look over in his direction, to notice his eyes on you, but you seemed completely immersed in the viewfinder of your camera. He found himself watching with a mix of curiosity and fascination, trying to figure out what was going on in your head.
The Boneyard was a breathtaking place—a hidden gem where the ocean met the land in a dramatic embrace. Sun-bleached driftwood trees stood like skeletal guardians along the shoreline, giving the beach its haunting name. The sand was cool beneath your sneakers, a mixture of fine grains and crushed seashells that shimmered like tiny pearls. The air was crisp with the scent of salt and the faint aroma of wildflowers that clung stubbornly to the rocky outcrops.
You were still aware that JJ was further down the beach, his laughter occasionally carried to you by the gentle sea breeze. Unbeknownst to you, his gaze had settled on you, a curious look in his aquamarine eyes. Oblivious, you turned away, your back now facing him. Your attention shifted to a new angle where the waves caught the sunlight just so, each crest adorned with a glistening spray that made the ocean look like it was covered in a blanket of diamonds. The water reflected hues of gold and silver, harmonizing with the deep blues and greens of the sea.
The Boneyard's beauty was a photographer's dream. You lifted the camera once more, framing the shot where the sun's rays kissed the waves, creating a mesmerizing sparkle that danced across the surface. The images of JJ, however, were different. Those were just for you—a secret collection of candid moments that captured something genuine and unguarded. It might seem a bit peculiar, maybe even intrusive, but photography was your way of connecting with the world, and JJ looked like he was made to exist through your viewfinder..
As you moved along the shoreline, the sound of the waves provided a soothing soundtrack, each crash and whisper syncing with the rhythm of your heartbeat. The sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows and bathing everything in a warm, golden light. Seabirds called out to one another as they swooped and dived, their silhouettes cutting gracefully through the sky.
The rugged beauty of the Boneyard captivated you. Clusters of sea grass swayed gently atop the dunes. You felt a profound sense of peace here, as if time itself had slowed down to let you absorb every detail. Raising your camera yet again, you captured the interplay of light and shadow, the textures of the driftwood, the endless horizon where the sea met the sky.
In that moment, everything else faded away—the concerns, the self-consciousness, even the awareness of JJ somewhere behind you. It was just you and the vast expanse of nature's artistry. You took a deep breath, the salty air filling your lungs, and smiled softly. This was why you loved photography—not just for the images it produced, but for the way it allowed you to see and appreciate the world in all its transient beauty.
JJ watched as you turned away from him, now facing the other direction. He took the opportunity to look at you without you noticing, his eyes scanning your form from behind. He noticed the way you moved around, trying to find new angles to photograph the waves. He was almost envious of how easy it seemed for you to just get lost in the moment, completely unbothered by anything or anyone around you.
He found himself wondering what it would be like to be so detached from the people and the world around you, just being completely focused on something as simple as the waves. He continued to watch you for a few moments, his eyes still fixed on your figure, before suddenly realizing that he had been staring for far too long. He quickly looked back to his friends, trying to play it off like he hadn’t just been blatantly staring at you.
He forced himself to keep his eyes off you, trying to tune back into the conversation that he was supposed to be a part of. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t help but keep sneaking glances in your direction, watching you as you moved and photographed the beach.
He found himself silently cursing the fact that he couldn’t just walk over to you and ask why you were so intriguing to him. He was JJ for crying out loud, he could talk to anyone he wanted.
As he continued to sit there with his friends, he couldn’t help but feel frustrated with himself. He was a confident guy, but for some reason he found it hard to approach you. Maybe it was because you were always so quiet and shy around him, or maybe it was because you seemed so engrossed in your photographs that it seemed like you didn’t want to be bothered. Whatever the reason, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he wanted to get to know you, but he also couldn’t get up the courage to take the first step.
He tried to distract himself by joining in on his friends’ conversation, but his mind kept wandering back to you. He kept thinking about the way you knelt down in the sand, the way your face was hidden behind the camera, the way your hands moved effortlessly to adjust the settings of the camera.
Finally, his frustration got the best of him. He couldn’t sit there any longer, pretending that he wasn’t completely captivated by you. He decided it was time to act on his urges and finally talk to you, even if it meant facing your shy and awkward demeanor.
He stood up from his spot on the sand, the others in his crowd giving him quizzical glances, but he didn’t pay them any mind. He dusted off his shorts, his eyes still fixed on you, and began walking in your direction.
His heart was pounding in his chest as he got closer to you, his mind racing with thoughts of what he was going to say to you. 'What if you’re weird? What if you hate me? What if you start stuttering again?’ he worried while his legs carried him towards your form.
After capturing a series of shots of a seagull pecking at a stray French fry beside your feet—its feathers ruffling gently in the salty breeze—you felt a small surge of satisfaction. The gull was engrossed in its meal, oblivious to your presence, allowing you to document its simple pleasure, the sight of it quite funny to you. Just as you raised the camera, a shadow filled your viewfinder, causing you to flinch slightly. Startled, you realized that JJ's face had come into sudden, unexpected focus, his features accentuated by the golden hues of the setting sun.
Your heart skipped a beat as you lowered the camera shakily, fingers trembling ever so slightly. Adjusting your glasses, you looked up to find JJ standing startlingly close, his baby blue eyes reflecting a mix of curiosity and something else you couldn't quite decipher. The world seemed to narrow to just the two of you, the distant crash of waves and the call of seagulls fading into the background. A flush of heat crawled up your neck. Anxiety twisted in your stomach like a coiled serpent. Had he noticed you taking pictures of him earlier? The mere thought sent a cold rush through your veins, making you almost queasy. The idea of him confronting you for your inadvertent creepiness was mortifying.
JJ came to a halt a few feet away from you, his eyes fixed on you. He stood there for a moment, studying your face, the way your eyes glanced at him nervously behind the frames of your glasses. He could see the anxiety written all over your face.
"Hey, mouse."
He said in his usual cocky and confident tone. He hoped he didn’t look as unsure as he actually was.
"Uh hey.." you said in an unsure tone, letting your camera dangle from your neck lazily, the strap snug around your neck. He was still calling you 'mouse', so he remembered the other night at the party, and the whole ordeal of getting shoved in a closet together. Of course he did, it's not everyday you get locked into a small space with a socially inept stranger.
JJ stuck his hands in his pockets, his eyes scanning you up and down. He watched as you lowered your camera, letting it dangle from your neck. He couldn’t help but notice the way you fidgeted with the strap, seemingly uncomfortable with him being so close.
He tilted his head slightly as he looked at you, his face wearing a slight smirk. "So, taking pictures of seagulls now, huh?"
"It was eating a french fry.." you laughed weakly, pointing vaguely to the spot where the seagull was just a few moments ago. The little fucker had flown away, leaving you pointing to an empty space on the sand beside your feet. Suddenly the notion of it eating a french fry wasn't as funny anymore.
JJ let out a soft scoff, a small smile forming on his face. He looked at the spot you pointed to, where the seagull had once been.
"A seagull eating a french fry is picture-worthy to you?"
He raised an eyebrow, teasing you.
You nodded mutely, fidgeting with the strap of the camera nervously.
JJ watched as you fidgeted with the camera strap, your nervousness apparent. He couldn’t help but find your shy and awkward behavior interesting, although he would never admit that out loud.
"So, why seagulls and starfish and all that?" he asked, genuinely curious about your interest in taking photographs of mundane things.
You shrugged, gnawing at your bottom lip. The mention of the starfish made your ears perk up, 'so he was watching me for a little longer and more intently, if he saw me take a picture of the starfish.' you observed internally. The thought almost made you excited. "They look interesting.." you stated simply, humming faintly.
JJ's eyes lingered on you as you gnawed at your bottom lip, the action making him feel something in the pit of his stomach. He watched as your brows seemed to perk up slightly when he mentioned the starfish, silently finding that quite adorable. He had been watching you more intently than he would like to admit, but he couldn’t help but be drawn to your behavior.
He raised an eyebrow at your simple response, still watching you. "Interesting, huh? Interesting how?"
You stepped closer hesitantly, flicking through the pictures until you landed on the starfish, tilting the camera screen so he could study the picture himself, your actions silent. You watched his face as he leaned in studying the picture curiously, taking the time to study him, while he studied your picture. He was breathtaking. He smelled like cheap beer and his usual smell of ocean water and weed.
JJ furrowed his eyebrows as he leaned in closer to the camera screen, his eyes scanning the picture of the starfish that you had taken.
He had to admit, the picture was pretty damn good. The way you had captured the textures and colors of the starfish was fascinating, and he found himself looking at it intently.
He tilted his head to the side slightly, his eyes flicking up to your face as he continued to study the picture.
"Damn, you really know how to use a camera."
JJ continued to watch your face as he looked at the picture, noticing the way you observed him silently. He wondered what was going on in that shy brain of yours, and part of him felt almost nervous under your gaze.
Finally, he looked up from the camera and at your face again. He had to admit, there was something about your eyes that was oddly captivating.
"You take pictures like this often?" he asked, his voice laced with a hint of curiosity.
A small smile made its way onto your face at his compliment. You hated taking compliments when it came to your photography or any of your other hobbies, but with JJ it seemed like it was almost welcome. Maybe your were just biased since he was the object of your pathetic pinning for almost 9 years.
You nodded, your mind wandering to how you took pictures of him secretly and you felt creepy again. It was a bad feeling, you hated it, you truly just liked how he looked through a camera and that's how you captured your love for him. Poets and painters used their paints and words and you... You used your camera.
JJ noticed the small smile that graced your lips as he complimented you, and he found himself feeling strangely satisfied with himself.
He knew that receiving compliments was probably not your thing, considering how shy and reserved you were, but he couldn’t help but want to keep drawing those smiles out of you. He found himself weirdly drawn to the way your face lit up when you were happy.
He watched as your eyes lost focus for a moment, a hint of something he couldn’t quite put his finger on flickering across your face. He furrowed his eyebrows slightly, wondering what you were thinking about, seemingly an occurring thought the longer he spent around you. You seemed to go to your own world for a moment, a subtle shift in your expression, an almost sad look in your eyes.
He took the opportunity to study your face yet again, his eyes tracing every detail. The way your eyelashes flickered, the way you gnawed at your bottom lip, the way your fingers fidgeted with the strap of your camera.
He wanted to ask you what you were thinking about, but he hesitated. Would you even tell him? He knew that you weren’t exactly comfortable in his presence and you always seemed a bit shy around him, but for some reason he wanted to know what was going on in your head.
He decided to try his luck, his curiosity getting the better of him.
"What’s on your mind, mouse?"
Your eyes snapped to his again, blinking a couple of times. You shrugged slowly pressing your lips in a thin line, "nothing.."
JJ’s eyebrows furrowed as he watched you snap back to reality, your eyes meeting his again. He could tell that you weren’t being completely honest, he could see it in the way you pressed your lips together.
He took a step closer to you, his eyes narrowing slightly. He knew you were hiding something, but he wasn’t sure what. "I call bs, mouse. Spill it."
"Are you this forward and personal space invading with every stranger?" you found yourself asking softly, surprised at how easily the words just rolled out of your mouth. Maybe it was the fact that you were nervous and you felt cornered. And besides you still sounded like a weak and quiet whimp. Your response gave you deja-vu.
JJ raised an eyebrow at your response, surprised that you had actually said something to him that wasn’t a simple one-word answer. He was even more surprised that you had actually called him out.
He took another step closer, leaning in slightly, his eyes still on your face.
"No, I usually don’t care about what strangers are thinking. But you’re different, mouse." He paused, continuing to observe you. He was standing pretty close now, but he wasn’t backing away.
You hummed nodding, taking a small step back to put some distance between the 2 of you. Close proximity wasn't your thing, especially when the other person was none other than JJ.
You probably looked rude, your body language was probably giving off repulsion, but you were just so shy and flustered, and you didn't want to look like a dumbass in front of him by stuttering and blushing like a schoolgirl. That would be so embarrassing, god. If you and JJ kept interacting, you'd probably end up getting a nose-bleed.
JJ watched as you took a step back, creating some distance between you. He noticed the way you seemed on edge, your body language giving off a repellant vibe. He knew from experience that you were probably just feeling shy and flustered, which was understandable given how shy you usually were around him.
He couldn’t help but feel a bit bad for invading your personal space like that. But, he also was enjoying the fact that he was making you so flustered. The two feelings were crashing with each other in his brain and he wasn't sure if he liked that. "Sorry, mouse. Didn’t mean to crowd you."
Every time he was apologetic about something he did without meaning, which he thought made you uncomfortable, your heart fluttered for him. He seemed so much more different with you, in the 2 times you had interacted, like actually interacted. That made you like him more if it was possible. You were absolutely, mind bogglingly whipped for this dude, and what was even funnier- He had no idea. Absolutely comical.
You were silent as you stared up at him for a few seconds, before speaking up softly trying to reassure him as best as you could, "it's okay.. don't worry."
JJ listened carefully as you spoke, your soft voice sending a strange flutter through his chest. He noticed the look in your eyes as you looked up at him, and it made his stomach do a little flip.
He wasn’t sure what exactly he was doing. He didn’t usually care this much about a stranger, but something about you had him completely enthralled. "Okay, mouse. I’ll try not to get too up in your personal space again."
He said, his voice softer than usual.
JJ stared at you for a few more moments, taking in your features. The way your hair fell softly in around your face, braided into two loose braids, the way you continued to fidget with the strap of your camera, the way your lips parted just slightly as you breathed quietly.
He found himself feeling oddly drawn to you, and he didn’t quite understand why. He had always thought of you as just "that shy girl from the country club," but now he was starting to realize that there might be more to you than he first thought. Maybe he shouldn't judge the people at the country club so quickly. 'What a dumbass conclusion to come to, 'm not prejudiced..'
He cleared his throat, trying to regain his composure.
You knew that JJ didn't care about personal space much, given you saw how he interacted with his friends or even girls he was trying to chat up at parties or around town. So his reassurance actually meant something to you. Although you kinda wanted him to invade your personal space now, despite knowing you'll probably die on the spot.
You studied him intently too, the way his blonde hair almost glowed in the sunlight and the way it was ruffled gently by the breeze. His eyelashes and those blue eyes which you loved to photograph so much when you had the chance. You suddenly wanted to make him laugh somehow, to also see the small dimple on his right cheek, but that was wishful thinking given you were just standing there mutely. Nothing was charmingly funny about being awkwardly quiet.
With the 2 of you standing there silently, just studying each other, JJ couldn’t help but notice the way your eyes scanned over his face. He wasn’t used to someone staring at him so intently, especially someone he didn’t know very well.
He wasn’t sure what you were thinking in that brain of yours, but the intensity of your gaze made his stomach do another weird flutter.
He cleared his throat once again, breaking the silence.
"So, uh... you like taking pictures, huh?" he almost face-palmed from how obvious that question was, especially with the camera dangling from your neck, basically rolling its eyes at him as soon as the words left his lips. What the hell was happening to him? Why couldn't he socialize properly?
You let out a huff of genuine amused laughter at his obvious question. You shook the camera gently as if it to say 'what gave it away,' studying his slightly awkward stance. Never in 8 years of liking him, have you ever seen JJ Maybank actually awkard. Of course he'd be awkward around you, that's what happened when people spoke to you.
"No i just carry the camera for bragging rights..." you spoke up suddenly, your tone sarcastic and amused but still soft and quiet.
JJ couldn’t help but smile slightly as you quietly laughed at his question. He felt another spark of satisfaction at himself upon hearing the surprisingly pleasant sound.
He raised an eyebrow at your sarcastic response, his smile turning into a smirk.
"Bragging rights? Damn, mouse. Didn’t peg you for the cocky type."
You shrugged, feigning smugness as you shifted awkwardly in your spot, looking up at him.
"Why?... i mean why are you asking me if i like taking pictures.." you spoke up again, blinking quickly, silently cursing yourself for stuttering a bit as you gathered the courage to ask the simple question.
He noticed the way you shifted awkwardly, and the slight stutter in your voice as you spoke. He could tell that you were uncomfortable, but he didn’t quite understand why. He just wanted to get to know you better.
JJ chuckled softly, his smirk widening a bit.
"Just making conversation, mouse. Plus, I figure something this expensive has got to mean something to you."
He gestured to the camera around your neck.
"It does... my mom got it for me." you spoke softly, looking down at your camera and adjusting your glasses.
You still remembered how happy you were when you got the camera, finally able to capture as many pictures of things you liked but couldn't quite put into your paintings. Although your relationship with your mom and parents in general was a little-.. Strained at the moment, you loved the camera as much as you loved your board, the two constantly battling for second best in your heart. Obviously JJ was first best.
He listened as you spoke softly, his gaze softening as he watched you look down at your camera.
He could sense there was more to the story than just "my mom got it for me," but he didn't push you. He knew that you were a private person, and he didn't want to push you too far out of your comfort zone.
He took a step closer to you, his hand darting out to gently touch the camera around your neck.
"Your mom has good taste."
JJ watched as you flinched slightly as he touched the camera, and he quickly pulled his hand back.
He didn’t want to make you uncomfortable, so he took a half step back again, giving you some space.
After a few moments of silence, he spoke up again, his voice softer than before. "Why do you take pictures of things like starfish and seagulls?"
You were surprised as he took a step closer, startled that he wanted to touch your old camera, but the feeling melted into disappointment when he stepped back.
"To paint them. It's much easier when the thing you're trying to paint doesn't move." you explained gently, you didn't have the courage to start painting him though. Across these years you took so many pictures but never actually had the courage to try and paint him.
JJ nodded slowly, understanding your reason for taking pictures of such mundane things. It made sense to him that you needed a still subject. He tilted his head slightly as he looked at you, his eyes locking with yours for a moment.
"You paint? What kind of stuff do you paint other than starfish and seagulls?"
"Scenery... my family... random things I like..." you listed awkwardly, your words trailing off as a faint blush warmed your cheeks. Humming in thought, you tilted your head back to gaze at the endless expanse of sky. Wisps of cotton candy clouds drifted lazily across the azure canvas, and the soft hues of twilight began to creep in. The vivid images of the paintings flooded back into your mind—rolling hills bathed in golden sunlight, candid snapshots of laughter-filled family gatherings, and close-ups of everyday objects that held secret significance.
JJ watched as you hummed in thought, your eyes cast up to the sky. He could tell you were thinking about your paintings, and he found himself wanting to see your paintings. He was curious about what your art looked like.
He cleared his throat, pulling your attention back to him.
"Have you ever painted a person?"
"Aside from my family? no..." you mumbled, your eyes setting into his once again. Maisy was an exception, sometimes she forced you to paint her. Your favorite painting of her was of her one morning, with a massive hangover, makeup ruined and strawberry blonde hair sticking out in every direction.
He nodded slowly, noticing the way your eyes set into his. There was something about your gaze that was both captivating and nerve wracking at the same time.
He took a small step closer to you, and for some reason, he couldn't stop the words from falling out of his mouth.
"What would you paint if I were a still subject?"
"What do you mean?" you asked a bit confused, swallowing a small lump that was threatening to form in your throat.
JJ smiled slightly at your confusion, amused by how innocent and naive you could be sometimes.
He took another step forward, closing the distance between the two of you even more.
"I mean, if I sat completely still and acted as your still subject, what would you paint? Like, would you paint a portrait of me or something different?"
"Oh.. probably your eyes." you spoke without realizing, your eyes snapping up from the sand under your sneakers to look up at him with a slight panicked look. The response was vague and what you meant to say was: 'you'd paint a portrait of him' but the words came out weirdly.
JJ's eyebrows raised in surprise at your words. He wasn't expecting your answer to be so direct, but it honestly made him feel weirdly giddy.
He leaned in a bit closer to you, his eyes narrowed slightly. "My eyes? Why my eyes?"
"Well they're blue." 'yeah dumbass.. he knows his eyes are blue.' you scolded your self internally for your simple and dumb answer.
You resisted the urge to face palm at the simple and quiet statement whipped out in a nervous rush, just staring at him blankly, fidgeting with your glasses.
JJ chuckled at your response. He didn't know why, but he found it amusing that you answered his question with such a simple and obvious answer. He couldn't help but tease you a bit. "Yeah, I'm aware they're blue."
He said, his voice sarcastic and amused. He took another step closer, now standing only a foot away from you. He could almost see the panic in your eyes.
You felt like a dumbass. Who has the conversation skills of a baked potato? you seriously needed to get it together this was absolutely pathetic. His teasing statement didn't help how you felt either, growing more embarrassed as he spoke, the tips of your ears burning from being so flustered.
JJ could see the way you were mentally kicking yourself for your simple response. He found it slightly endearing how flustered and anxious you were at the moment, just because he was close to you and you couldn't string together a coherent sentence to save your life. It made him want to tease you even more.
He leaned in slightly closer, his face now only inches away from yours, his breath lightly touching your cheek.
"You know, you're adorable when you're nervous, mouse."
Which is all the time-... what? did he just? Refer to you as adorable? You felt as if your heart stopped for a second and started beating way too fast at the same time, your face heating up visually probably. You were so PATHETIC, ugh. Why couldn't you just take conversations in stride, just like he did, or any other fucking normal human on this planet?
JJ could see the way your face flushed with color, and it only made his smile widen. He found it incredibly endearing how flustered and anxious you were, and he was enjoying every second of it.
He reached up, his hand gently tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. "You're blushing, mouse. Why are you so nervous around me all the time, hm?"
"I'm nervous around... everyone." you choked out, cursing yourself mentally once again for sounding so affected. It was seriously comical. You were wondering how he wasn't making fun of you by now. Also the tender gesture made your insides melt even more, despite hating when people touched your hair.
His smile softened at your admission, feeling a pang of sympathy for you. He didn't realize that you were nervous around everyone, he thought it was just him. He hummed softly, his hand still gently fiddling with the strand of hair he was holding.
"Everyone, huh? Why? Don't you have friends who make you feel less nervous?"
He continued to study your face, noticing the way your eyes darted around nervously and the way your cheeks were flushed a pretty pink color. He could see the anxiety in your expression, and he wasn't sure what to make of it. Part of him wanted to tease you even more, but another part of him wanted to reassure you that everything was okay.
"You know, mouse, you don't have to be so nervous all the time. I don't bite. Well, not hard anyway."
You sighed, your fingers nervously twisting a loose strand of hair around them. No matter how hard you tried, you couldn't help it—you always clammed up like this. Words seemed to get stuck in your throat, despite the whirlpool of thoughts swirling in your mind. It was worse now, with JJ standing right in front of you; his mere presence amplified your anxiety, turning your usually rowdy internal monologue into static.
Your gaze shifted to the side, drifting over his shoulder. You noticed his friends in the distance, trying to get his attention. They were waving in your direction, their gestures frantic and eyes wide with impatience. Gathering a bit of courage, you pointed shakily toward them, your eyes meeting his briefly as you did so. The unspoken words hung heavy in the air, your heartbeat echoing in your ears as you waited for his reaction. A flush crept up your neck, the tension between wanting to say something—anything—and the frustrating quiet that held your tongue.
JJ followed your gaze looking over his shoulder, his eyes landing on his friends in the distance. He could see them waving and gesturing for him to come back, and he knew they were probably wondering what the hell he was doing.
He hesitated for a moment, torn between staying with you and going back to his friends. He turned his attention back to you, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Looks like my friends are getting impatient."
He let out a small sigh, not wanting to leave you just yet. But he knew he had to go back to his friends eventually, otherwise they'd just come over and drag him away.
He gave you one last glance, taking in your nervous expression. He smiled softly, his hand still lingering beside your ear. "I'll see you around, mouse. Don't disappear on me, okay?"
You were feeling disappointed that he had to leave. But you let a relieved breath out as he took a small step back. The close proximity was making your breathing go crazy and stuttery and your face heat up. You glanced at his friends and then at him, your eyes lingering on his face in an almost awe expression before nodding and humming, your hands fidgeting with the strap of your camera.
JJ couldn't help but notice the way your eyes lingered on his face, and he felt a small flutter in his chest at the expression on your face. He wasn't used to someone looking at him like that, especially you. He gave you one last smile, his hand reaching out to gently pat your head before he reluctantly took a step away from you.
"Behave yourself, mouse."
He said with a smirk and a wink before turning and strolling back to his friends.
As soon as his back was turned to you and he was walking back to his friends you let out a breath that you didn't know you were holding. Your hands reached up to fan your face gently, walking along the beach in the opposite direction.
You could definitely get used to interacting with JJ alone, have him look at you and call you mouse like that in his soft tone despite his boyish voice. Although the nickname was meant to be teasing, you still felt your heart do somersaults every time he called you it casually.
As JJ walked back to his friends, he found himself unable to keep his mind off of the interaction he just had with you. He couldn't get the image of your blushing face and wide-eyed expression out of his head.
His friends quickly pounced on him the moment he returned to them, their voices loud and excited.
"Dude, what was that all about?"
JB asked, his eyes widening with curiosity.
Pope chimed in with a raised eyebrow.
"Yeah man, since when do you talk to the girl who's terrified of you?"
JJ shrugged, trying to seem nonchalant about the whole thing.
"I don't know, I was just making conversation." All four of his friends looked at him skeptically, not buying his casual response.
John B leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a whisper so that no one else could hear their conversation.
"Do you like her or something?"
JJ's eyes widened in surprise at the question, and he quickly shook his head, trying to play it off.
"No way, man.. What, are we in 7th grade to be asking these types of questions?"

A/N: Here's the second chapter! God, you guys don't understand how happy i am. What do you think about the second interaction? I appreciate when you comment, or leave asks telling me what you think, so don't be shy! these can be read as stand-alone one-shots too but this is gonna be an entire story. Also i don't plan on following the main story-line of the show :( This and all my works will be written freely because i wanna give JJ the life of a teenager instead of a treasure hunter.

I’m writing a very self indulgent jayvik fic of them becoming new parents and then immediately bringing the brand new baby to their lab because neither of those fuckers can sit still long enough to be off work for longer than a couple weeks. Jayce is literally still recovering from having a baby and the only thing he waits the full 6 weeks of healing for is going to the forge. They are back in the lab full ish time within three weeks. Sky is appalled on a theoretical level but in practicality she’s loves that she can take breaks to play with the baby. Mel is in the same boat, but she nonetheless ends up in the lab at least an hour every day to walk around with the baby. There is a pack’n’play that fits nicely next to the lab couch and the bottle warmer sits right next to the coffee machine. They have a baby sling that Jayce wears as he does equations on the board and Viktor wears while he’s working on blue prints.
Heimerdinger, who took absolutely no objections when insisting that Jayce and Viktor have a full 6 months of paternity leave together as they welcome their baby, effectively stopping all hextech development for half a year, is HORRIFIED to find that not only are they back in the lab, but they are meeting deadlines almost exactly as intended and look basically no worse for wear. He resolves to pay more attention to his next protégés as he has CLEARLY not been able to protect these two from having worked themselves half to death unrestricted when having a newborn leaves them just as they were before.

Does it make pain any easier?
A writing drabble inspired by this:
Tumblr media
Because I had to.
Warnings: Blood, injuries, insanity, death. Me trying to write Daemon Fulgrim.
___________________
His body fell to the ground with a loud crashing sound. He felt bones break, as well as copper taste of the blood fill inside of his mouth and taint the lips.
He caughed, red fluid beginning to drip down the mouth on the scorched earth beneath him. The fingers covered in metal dug into the hardened soil, as Argus tried to pull himself up.
Not much life force left in this body. Soon he will die and resurrection will kick in. Even if he was gifted with eternal cycle of life, sometimes it seemed every cell of his body screamt in agony for regenerating process to stop and never again occure. He would lie if he said his mind did not want same.
It hurt. Regeneration hurt in a ways he cannot explain. Vulkan always told him that being born Perpetual is both gift and a curse and the pain rebirth carries is only what Perpetual will ever experience and understand.
Argus' musings to himself were cut short by the sound of dragging blades. Four of them. In each hand of the one, whom he once knew as a second Father.
As he approached, his slithering body movements, drowned everything. Except pain, not physical, which ravaged Argus' dying form, the one inside, the one which could not heal.
- Do it already! - Perpetual screamt, trying to pull his bloodied body off the ground. No avail. His legs were shattered and even if he knew he will walk again eventually, pain he felt now was blinding.
He heard blade being risen, the sound of it's sharp edge cutting the air. One strike and this attempt will end.
- Does it make pain any easier to bear? - All he heard was the voice. Same voice, which usually taunted him with sadistic glee, laughed maniacally and berated any of attempts at attacking him. Still tone felt like more humane of his sides trying to fight a Daemon Prince.
It had to be delusion. Pain inducted hallucination...
Argus gathered all the strenght in his arms and if not necrodium, he probably would have not managed to pull his upper body up. His entire arms were covered in blood, meaning he bled from other injuries too than his mouth or shattered leg bones and torn flesh. Damnit, he had Astartes genes and bone structure and still that was not enough to fight. His fingers dug into hardened soil even harder, splattered with his own fresh blood.
Meanwhile Daemon Prince slithered around him, his massive tail creating a ring around Argus grievely wounded form. No escape.
What he expected was blade at his neck. Strangely even how many times Fulgrim had slain Argus already, he never slit his throat or beheaded him. Like he did before. Like he did with his Father.
Instead what touched his neck were claws. Long, solidly grown into his large emaciated fingers, ringing from golden, now blood mudded chains he wore on his hand.
Again instead of being able so easily slice Argus' throat, he lifted his face up by chin.
- Does it make pain any easier to bear? - He asked same question again.
Argus refused to look at the large Daemon before him, he averted his gaze away, only to notice other three arms get closer to him. Two lifted him by the legs, but not in a usual, angry way, but much gentlier, while third held the back. He was gentle. Weirdly gentle.
Argus' survival instincts kicked in and he slammed the hands off, managing to wiggle of the grasp and throw himself back into the circle formed by scaled snake tail. He screamed of the pain the fall induced into his already shattered bones. He was Perpetual, being able to regenerate and also was Astartes, someone created with ability to regenerate and yet he squirmed from the pain. Like a child who got stupidly hurt.
- Don't touch me! - was all Argus hissed at Daemon above him.
He dared to look up this time. Hatered and frustration won over pain.
Fulgrim watched him from above. One set of lower hands crossed behind the back, the upper duo held out all bloodied with what Argus assumed his own blood in some weird ritualistic manner. The face of Daemon Prince had no expression. He just watched human on the ground, his snake pupils weirdly humanly wide. No sickening grin, no sliced tongue hissing at him. Nothing.
And then his eyebrows arched sadly.
- So it doesn't. I knew it won't. - was all he spoke.
Argus noticed Fulgrim held no weapon. If those were thrown off or were securily laid down behind his giant serpentine tail Argus did not know. At any rate Daemon Prince of Slaanesh needed no weapon to crush his opponent's already seriously wounded body. And yet he made no attempt.
- Enough! - Argus screamt, looking up at Fulgrim with all the hatered in his soul. Never he felt so much blinding hate than now, when person he hated the most was now so close. Once again he used arms to pull his upper body up, but sharp pain shot across his back and he fell down screaming in agony. The fall shatered what was left of his spine. He felt his arms numb up just as legs as his body became nearly fully paralysed.
Most of Argus' deaths were quick and painless. Rare occurence was for him to have suffer through such an agony before dying, but today seemed to be one of those unfortunate times.
Before he hit the ground with his face, massive clawed hand once again grabbed him and he fell on it. This one had no chains on it and skin felt eerly similiar to what he remembered. He wanted to resist, but at this point it was clear Argus' body was at it's limit.
Once again all he felt apart blinding pain was being scooped up in arms. He only saw through his bloodshot vision them engulfing him like a swarm, all four of them.
- Let... Go... - his breath was weakening with every raising of chest.
But Daemon did not react. Argus blurrying eyesight noticed massive wings covering him and their host in some sort of sinister cocoon as well as serpentine tail, who tightened in the circle only for Daemon to gently nest his upper body in it.
Argus closed his eyes. His breaths shallowed as pain engulfed entire body, even with muscle paralysis. He could not move, he could barely breathe. He was moments away from end of his current life.
However before the death, he felt something else. It came to him like a haze of dream. Beating of two hearts. As shallow as his, but with more echo. He recognised the melodic beat: same as it always was, stuck in his memory. Same which lulled him to sleep on so many occasations.
He felt tears roll down his blood covered face. Fond memories he was too weak to fight flooded back in. All Argus managed to do is to press his hand around massive thumb finger of someone whom he used to love so much. He felt once again as a small child, who could not walk, could not talk, but expressed his love with a touch. As strong as he possibly could with all he had left in him.
Before he took one last breath and went quiet.
-------------------------
Daemon Prince positioned his body to make it as comfortable for his foe as he could. Not foe, he corrected himself, someone he still loved as much as he did all those millenias ago.
He was aware Enlightment and giving himself to Gods of Chaos will not entirely change him. No, they freed him if anything. He was free of being used as a tool, free to enjoy existance, bathe in all the gifts of Slaanesh, no longer shackled by his own weak and imperfect flesh form. Uncover his true potential given to him by his nature, not Emperor's construct and ambition.
And yet he still felt. Felt pain and felt sorrow. Felt love as well as attachement. It drove him insane because how strongly he now felt, and as a sick gift the inner torture brought pleasure he could not stop lavishing in.
But now... He felt no pleasure. What he felt was disturbance of mind as ever, but clearance of heart. He could not think, he did not know why he didn't just deal with his foe like he usually did. It brought great pain to him, but the excess of pain also brought immense pleasure.
But not today.
Gently he scooped bloodied body of his foe, his boy, using all four of his arms. His arms formed a craddle and he used his massive wings to create intimate space between the two of them and the planes of Slaanesh's realm and other daemons who came to gawk at them.
- Let... Go... - limp figure in his arms spoke through troubled breaths. Fulgrim could just watch his nearly lifeless body.
Argus barely moved for quite some time after that last blow, except then he screamt of pain while trying to pull himself up few times. Now his boy just laid in Fulgrim's embrace, covered in blood from many deadly wounds across his body. It was clear he had not much life left in him and yet he was a Perpetual, gifted with innability to die.
And even if it wasn't first time, it hurt Fulgrim as ever. With every kill he executed against Argus, he saw what he had done to Ferrus. The vivid vision making him hurt in every cell of his body. His actions killing the one he loved the most repeating in a cursed torturous cycle.
But Argus returns. He always returns and it pains him in the ways no one knows, because Fulgrim is forced to kill his son as he killed his Father, his own beloved brother. In blind rage, only snapping out of it once it is too late to save them. He is the only one left to suffer. To vail in agony of his own making. Over and over again.
Now he snapped out of it earlier. Perhaps it was because Argus did not die from the first blow or perhaps because Fulgrim today felt exceptionally melancholic. And yet he still is unable to preserve this life of his son. He is dying. At least what Fulgrim can offer to make both of them hurt less is an embrace.
Pain does not make it easier. To neither of them.
While Argus did not answer the question, Fulgrim knew better. His son desperately hunts him down not because of desire of revenge, but because of wanting to hurt his own soul and flesh, to make inner pain reflect on pain of flesh. Because he believes it makes it easier.
Fulgrim pulled his son's limp body closer to his own chest. His hearts started beating louder than before, he felt that, he felt weirdly alive in this moment, and yet sorrow was strong and slowly swallowing him in another dark episode.
They are alike. Both cursed in so many ways, both never able to die, both forced to live in a purgatory of never ending pain they cannot get rid of. Both their existences are circle or pain and guilt and torture...
Suddenly Fulgrim felt Argus' grip around thumb of one of his hands increase. Even if body did not move except rare shallow breaths, the grip on his finger was strong. As strong as only Argus could do. Fulgrim felt like again he held his small human boy in his way too big arms like all those millenias ago.
Daemon let his black, elegantly curved horn adorned head down, his white long hair dripping over the shoulders to cover not only his face but body of his son too. He felt tears flood his eyes, as the painful memories came back to haunt him.
In one moment it all was over. Argus' breathing stopped, and grip on the thumb finger loosened, hand of his son falling limp. In same moment felt his own hearts stop beating too.
Daemon Prince Fulgrim, still head down, opened his wings and spread them wide, his giant serpentine tail slowly slithering less tight, as he held upon dead body in his arms for little longer. He knew what happened next was inevitable. He cannot preserve this moment for too long even if he so would want to.
Argus' body started to brittle into dust and like some sudden gust of wind cought it, all of it swooped off Fulgrim's embrace leaving this plane of existance. It will reunite with the soul of his Perpetual son somewhere in the galaxy. And his boy will be reborn. Like a true Phoenix of Iron he was.
As last of dust left his arms, Fulgrim spread all four of them, still bloodied from his own son, his head still low, he chuckled.
The chuckles grew into laughter, full on maniacal laughter, as Prince of Excess threw his head backwards, his hair whiplashing back, facing the void above. His pupils narrowed into slits as his laughter shook the realm itself, the tail slashing wildly around him in the centre.
The pain. The pain he felt. It was unexplainable, unimaginable to everyone else. It tore his hearts out and crushed them. It contorted his face, it broke his every bone and tore his every muscle in a way no one else could see. Yet it brought pleasure so immence, Fulgrim felt enthralled by it, fully controlled by it. It pleased him, it pleased Slaanesh.
What he felt no one could understand, but he relished in it. He felt awoken by it.
And he knew. Only another person to feel the same way will come back in search of this same pain. To relish in it. To feel this pain to make him again feel alive...

@schemmentits sorry for the spam! we’re nearing the end of this one. even now i’m thinking of possibly doing a sequel 😅
The Aspiring Teachers Program
Part 9 WC:~1.1k
‘Oh, unh-unh. No way,’ Ava thought, as she watched Melissa and Barb turn on their heels and start heading for one of the rooms down the hall. She immediately followed them. When she walked through the door, the two women were talking in hushed tones about something clearly important.
“I thought I told y’all that if you had any tea, you had to loop me in. How am I supposed to be the most beautiful principal with all the knowledge if y’all aren’t gonna inform me of the knowledge? Come on, y’all, spill.”
Barb looked to the redhead, waiting for Melissa to make the first move.
“Alright!” Melissa threw her hands up after a few moments of Ava staring into her soul. “I went to the Aspiring Teachers Program a long time ago, when I was goin’ through my divorce. I had a whirlwind romance with a nineteen year old, and gave her my stuffed Ronny Jaworski eagle on the off-chance that she might find me again.”
“Well, that’s stupid,” Ava remarked.
“Thanks, Ava,” Melissa muttered out through clenched teeth.
“No, I mean you got that fine young thing out in the hall practically throwing herself at you, and you worried about some girl you haven’t seen in a million years? Girl, please.”
“That’s the thing, Ava, she is the girl from the Program.” Barb pointed out, before turning to Melissa. “And you told me that you just hated the girl’s name, but you hated it because it reminded you of your young girl from Chicago,” Barb said with a few soft chuckles. The glare she got from the redhead made her smile disappear instantly.
“Oh! Well, go get her then! What are you waiting for?” Ava grabbed Melissa’s arm in an attempt to pull her out the door, but Melissa shook out of the principal’s grasp.
“I can’t.”
“Why not? She’s literally right out there, and clearly she’s still into you if she’s carrying around that weird little eagle thing,” Ava said.
“What if when she realizes who I am she hates me for breakin’ her heart? Then, she never talks to me again?”
Just as Ava was about to tell Melissa how silly she was being, Janine poked her head into the door. “Everything okay?” She asked.
“Janine! Tell Melissa that your little friend out there has it bad for her, and all she needs to do is admit her feelings and we’ll all go back to our regularly scheduled lives. Well, except her. She gonna be gettin’ nasty!” Ava did a little dance for emphasis.
Janine pulled the rest of her little self into the room, and gave Melissa a questioning look. When Melissa wouldn’t look up at Janine, the young girl put the pieces together. She, too, had witnessed the moment Melissa saw Ronny.
“Oh! My God! You’re Em! Of course, you are! The eagle and the red hair, and the fiery attitude, it makes so much sense now! But she-” Janine looked at the door, clearly thinking about you “-doesn’t… oh my god, she has no idea! You gotta tell her, Melissa. It’s like a fairytale come true. Star-crossed lovers. Destiny!”
Melissa groaned loudly after the girl practically shouted the last word. This day was not going anything like how she expected, or wanted! Somehow, Melissa had managed to fall in love with the same girl twice. In her defense, she didn’t know that you were the same girl. It had been so long since she had seen Parent Trap’s face, she hadn’t been sure if she could have picked the girl out of a lineup, but now all she could notice was every similarity between you and the girl from years ago.
The three women just stared at Melissa, waiting for her to say or do something. “Alright!” The redhead huffed. “I’ll do it, but I’m not doin’ it tonight, not with all youse guys around being nosy.”
True to her word, Melissa didn’t confess her feelings that night, much to the dismay of her friends and colleagues. She couldn’t bear it. She just knew the moment you found out that she was the one from the Program all those years ago, that you would never talk to her again. She figured she could try and enjoy one last night of being able to see your beautiful smile and your eyes that shined brighter than some of these kids’ futures. One last night to hear your sweet voice.
Over the following week, Melissa could tell that you could sense the growing tension in the break room growing, but had no idea what was going on, and when you asked, Melissa was increasingly thankful that no one was willing to spill the beans. Janine, Ava, and Barb were all getting increasingly frustrated with Melissa, but none of them would tell you why, and when you asked Melissa about their looks, she panicked and she acted like she had no idea that the women were giving her stranger and stranger looks as the week went on.
It all came to a head on that Thursday. The following day would be a non-contact day. The students wouldn’t be at school, but all of the teachers would. Everyone knew that Melissa would be taking the day off, she hated non-contact days, so the three women who had confronted Melissa last week were ready to cause some chaos.
You were the last to arrive in the break room for lunch, much to Melissa’s dismay. Melissa had already warmed your food, like always, so you took your seat and began eating, choosing to listen to the conversations around you, rather than contribute, definitely being quieter than Melissa had grown used to. Jacob and Janine were talking about a movie they were planning on seeing over the weekend, and Mr. Johnson was telling Ava about this underground casino he’s running.
No one in the room noticed as Ava and Barb made eye-contact and enacted a plan they had been preparing for days. Barb turned to her friend and asked loudly what her plans for the weekend were.
“Yeah, Em, got any special plans?” Ava asked innocently. Janine whipped her head to look at the older women after hearing a nickname that no one used for Melissa. The redhead then watched as Janine had a conversation with you across the room, just through your eyes. Before anyone could say anything else, they all watched as you stood quickly, the force of your chair sliding back causing an awful noise, drawing the attention from anyone who hadn’t already given it, grabbed your plate of food and left the room without a word.
Not a single soul left in the break room knew what to do. They didn’t dare say another word because Melissa already looked like she was going to tear Ava limb from limb.
Barb wondered for a moment if she had actually crossed the line this time. She worried that Ava’s life may truly be in danger. That feeling was not quelled when the redhead stood and glared at them. “I’ll deal with you two later,” Melissa said before stomping out of the room to finally face the music.

Belonging and humanity (some more Ivan thoughts)
Tumblr media
There's a big difference between knowing for a fact that you're a human being and getting to FEEL part of humankind. That's a thing that I feel Ivan sorely lacked. Some of his issues can definitely be traced back to it.
There's three things we know for certain about Ivan's early childhood nowadays, so let me start from those:
There were other humans around him in the slums, at least other children (for now it doesn't seem there were adults around, or none who would approach or care for the children).
However, we also know Ivan did not learn social behavior properly; for example, how or when to smile.
Going by the lonely tone of the song Nowhere and its emphasis on having no one, plus the previous point, we can infer there was no meaningful social contact with any people he knew/saw.
Ivan has been described as someone who is always learning to survive and his time in the slums must've been the same, after all; it's most likely that the other kids were competition to him (for food or other resources), threats or simply strangers with whom connections were never made.
That's to say, there were humans around Ivan but no "human community".
And that's the thing: take someone who went through a critical developmental stage with no one to care for or be cared by, learn social behavior with or practice the emotional exercises of understanding and empathy - ask that someone what "being a part of humankind" feels like, and what can he even make of it? It must not mean much more than categorizing a species, no feeling involved. And anyway, what difference does it make if there's anything else to say or not?
It's not like those are easy questions. None of the ALNST cast, with all their limitations, would be able to respond comprehensively.
But it changes things, the differences are there.
There are things that Till knows, from having a mother, learning from her and being enriched emotionally by their interaction, that I don't think he could describe but certainly has within him. Or Hyuna, who had a brother to feel that family bond and sense of community with, learning all sorts of positive social skills and having a heart full of room for empathy as she always looked out for the little Other Person next to her.
Beyond knowing their species, they know what it MEANS to be the rare and amazing human creature from these experiences of connecting, teaching, being taught, holding things in common, giving and receiving love. On an instinctual level they accessed what it feels like to be "part of humankind", which is so cool about them!!
Then you have cases like Mizi being too trusting of aliens because she was raised to feel community with one, Sua being mostly withdrawn because she didn't have a lot of warmth and community around her, Luka who was deprived of everything and then clung too hard to his first proper bond...
And Ivan, with his empty circumstances. There are a million things Ivan didn't learn and doesn't KNOW he lacked.
Of course that with his background he'd end up 1: being defensive by nature, having selfish tendencies, trouble processing emotion and socially weird habits and 2: feeling like a twisted being because of it, which is such a core aspect of his character. A human with less humanity but no idea why or how.
He adapted himself a lot once adopted, of course, and caught up an even bigger lot in his time in Anakt Garden. But I don't think he ever understood why he was "more twisted than others" and honestly, his intelligence and observance doesn't do him any favors on that front; on the contrary, I think it made him more aware of the gaps between him and other people.
And I really have to wonder if his experiences around the segyein are all that different, emotionally speaking.
I mean, of course objectively they have to be, but… his adopted life was a matter of observing his new environment, feeling like an absolute stranger because he's another species, but learning and adapting as quickly as possible in order to make himself a desirable pet that would be kept around. His experience being sent to Anakt and put in a human group was, again, feeling like a stranger because he's different to others of his own species, but learning and adapting as quickly as possible, eventually making himself an "acceptable", charming, absolutely cagey but near-perfect man. He succeeded both times.
He never did get rid of that awareness of being "twisted", though. After all, he also didn't unlearn all his survival patterns or fix the weak spots in his emotional development. As much as he progressed, the sense of not quite belonging and the faint relationship with his own humanity stayed. (With one big exception, but I'll leave that thought for the end of this ramble.)
In a way, I feel like this is exactly what made him so successful in segyein society as far as he lived. So adaptable that beyond being a good pet, he could also be trusted with and hold down an actual job, decent (faked or not, still good) relationships with segyein and, if he had any chance of survival, probably the capacity to live in their society with moderate perks.
Being an adaptable stranger who belonged nowhere in the first place… I think it's what made him more willing, more capable and more okay with mixing with the segyein like that, paired with his intelligence to pull it off.
No human pride to sacrifice. Not much humanity in the first place.
Except for the one noteworthy exception that shifted Ivan's growth: his relationship with Till.
Not only did Till embody things that Ivan lacked, which fascinated him from the start, but through his bond with him Ivan developed a lot of those traits and sensitivities that constitute peak humanity. It's a bit of the "love will make you human" trope, but on god does it apply. Ivan learned to care, to feel and to love, at times selfishly, at times messily. Buth he got pretty good at it; so much that love made him selfless and sacrificial in the end. He became a little more human for the object of his feelings. It didn't't erase all his struggles or fix his issues at large, but it was a lot. Of course he'd die thanking Till.
Anyway, that's all I wanted to get off my chest!
Humanity is a tough theme with Ivan, so I hope my thoughts about it were an interesting read.
The usual disclaimer: I've talked about 1 aspect of Ivan in this post, which does not mean this is all there is to his character or that I aim to invalidate other aspects. Just rotating this one in my head.

Feveruary Day 3: Caught in the Rain
Fandom: ATEEZ
Sickie: Seonghwa (fever)
Caregiver(s): ATEEZ
Word Count: 1,359
Notes: There's more to this story, but I cut it where it felt natural to cut it. Maybe I'll release a part 2 in the future...
The photoshoot was supposed to be quick and easy. A luxury brand had asked KQ for ATEEZ to model for them, specifically requesting Seonghwa and Yunho. Their communication had been timely, respectful, and cooperative. The shoot was going to be Quick and Easy. That was the whole reason Hongjoong and their manager had ultimately allowed Seonghwa to go: the schedule was short and the required energy low, a perfect first engagement back after the eldest had just barely recovered from a nasty case of bronchitis.
What actually ended up happening was neither quick, nor easy.
The marketing associates who had previously been in contact with their managers are no where to be found on set. Instead, two company executives, clearly in the middle of some sort of power struggle, were running the show, and constantly trying to undermine one another. They nitpicked the stylist teams, unnecessarily extending the process. They kept interrupting the director of the shoot, asking the photographers ridiculous questions, touching equipment they knew nothing about, trying to chat with Seonghwa and Yunho when they were trying to listen to directions. They’d made it through a handful of pictures inside the studio before moving outside, like executive B had wanted, but by the time they got out there, the weather had stopped cooperating. A storm had begun to roll in, and while the photographers and managers pushed to go back in, both executive A and B had insisted they get the outdoor shots, assuring everyone that things would be ‘fine.’
They’d only been snapping pictures for thirty minutes before the downpour started.
So now, ten minutes later, Seonghwa was sitting on a bench outside the studio, shaded somewhat from the rain under the large leaves of a tree, but still shivering from the chill of the wind against his soaking wet clothes. He wasn’t sure where Yunho or their manager were; the photographer had left him here a few minutes ago while the executives and director argued about what they wanted to do with the shoot. Seonghwa didn’t much care at this point. He was tired. He was cold. He was ready to go home.
But he was also professional enough not to say anything until he was asked, so he simply sat shivering on his bench in the meantime.
Seonghwa’s daze was broken when his shoulders dipped as a jacket was placed on his shoulders. He blinked up, shelling his eyes from the rain to better see Yunho.
“No.” Shaking his head, Seonghwa began to shrug the jacket off.
Yunho’s hands held the fabric in place. “No, yourself.” Seonghwa continued shaking his head, so Yunho kept his hands in place on his hyung’s shoulders.
“You need your jacket,” Seonghwa insisted.
“Not as much as you do.” Yunho shifted to sit next to Seonghwa, looping one arm around his shoulders.
“Yunho, it’s raining. You’re all wet.”
A chuckle rumbled in the taller man’s chest. “So are you.”
Lightning flashed above their heads, a roll of thunder following lazily. Seonghwa’s head rested against Yunho’s shoulder. “I want to go home,” he said quietly.
Yunho placed his head on top of Seonghwa’s. “Me too. This whole thing has been one big clusterfuck.”
“Don’t say that too loud,” Seonghwa warned.
“Hyung, the closest person is more than three meters away, and there’s no way they could hear me over this rain.”
“Still.” He paused, clearing his throat. Not quite a cough, but it made Yunho frown all the same.
“You feeling okay?”
Seonghwa shrugged. “I’m tired.”
“Me too, hyung. Me too.”
*
“Oh my god.” San threw his book to the side, standing immediately when Seonghwa and Yunho walked into the den. The rest of the group, (minus Hongjoong, who was working at the studio,) were waiting patiently for the duo to watch a movie. But this was unexpected: while Yunho and Seonghwa had already removed their jackets and shoes, they were still visibly damp. “Wait, stop, why are you all wet?” He ran over to the pair, one hand running through Yunho’s hair, the other feeling Seonghwa’s shirt. He pouted in confusion, wide puppy eyes scanning between them. “Why are you all wet?”
“Not sure if you’ve noticed, Sannie, but it’s raining,” Yunho replied with a good-natured smile. He readjusted his arm around Seonghwa’s shoulders, tightening his hold on the older man, who had yet to stop shivering since their moment on the bench two hours before. “And our photoshoot was, surprisingly, outside.”
“It was outside?!” Wooyoung’s jaw dropped. “Did you know that?”
Seonghwa shook his head while Yunho replied with a simple, “Nope.”
“And they didn’t take you inside when the rain started?” Wooyoung clarified.
“Not for a good 45 minutes,” Yunho answered.
“But you’re makeup and hair and stuff?” San asked, incredulous. “They didn’t think about all that hard work going to waste?” Yunho shrugged one shoulder, shaking his head.
“We apologized to the stylists on their behalf,” Seonghwa spoke up. “Thanked them for working so hard despite… it getting ruined. It didn’t help that the one exec kinda liked it better messed up…” His voice trailed off, his eyes wandering away to the floor.
Wooyoung shook his head. “That’s ridiculous. I would’ve fought someone.”
“Kinda hard to fight a high-profile brand executive.”
Wooyoung scoffed, pushing off the couch, stomping to the kitchen and back to blow off steam. San had yet to stop pouting, running a comforting hand up and down Seonghwa’s arm (the one not currently smushed against Yunho).
“It wasn’t horrible,” Yunho added, his voice placating. “The shoot director was really kind, and had some amazing ideas. He tried to get us back inside the minute the clouds rolled in. And the stylist team? I’d go back just to work with them again.”
“Stop all this toxic positivity.” Wooyoung crossed his arms over his chest. “You can be mad at people for treating you like shit, Yunho.”
“He called them a ‘clusterfuck’ earlier,” Seonghwa supplied unhelpfully.
Yunho nudged him. “Of course that’s what you remember.”
“Wait, hyung, you called the a clusterfuck to their face?” Jongho asked, shock evident on his face.
“No, of course not, we were-“ Yunho breath caught, as he pitched to the side with a loud sneeze. He shook his head after, blinking in surprise. “Shit, excuse me. Didn’t expect that one…”
“Fuck! Now you’re sick too!” Wooyoung started pacing again, threading his hands through his hair.
“Okay, okay. Calm down, let’s not get ahead of ourselves,” Mingi said, taking control of the situation. He pointed towards Yunho and Seonghwa. “Let’s get you two warmed up. Go hit the showers. Hwa-hyung, be honest, can you stand on your own? Cause you haven’t let go of Yuyu since you got home.”
On a normal day, such a direct call out would invoke a demonic wrath from the eldest that few were brave enough to face. This was not a normal day.
“I would like someone to stay with me, please,” Seonghwa admitted, voice quiet out of exhaustion rather than embarrassment.
Mingi nodded. “Sannie, go with him please. Jongho, Woo, you guys go heat up dinner. Sangie, do something productive, I trust you.”
“You don’t trust me?” Wooyoung whined.
“Never,” Mingi replied simultaneously with Yunho and Jongho’s emphatic, “No,” and Yeosang’s “Let me have ONE thing!”
Amidst the chaos, San had successfully extricated Seonghwa from Yunho’s embrace, and had led their eldest down the hall.
“Pretty sure his fever’s back,” Yunho muttered to Mingi after the bathroom door closed behind them.
Mingi shook his head. “Oh, definitely. He’s so quiet.” The rapper’s eyes turned to scan Yunho. “You better not get sick, too, mister.”
“Mingi.” Yunho put his hands on his friend’s shoulder. “I’m fine.”
“You better be. Go shower.” He hit Yunho’s butt playfully as the dancer turned to go. Yunho whipped back around and clumsily hit Mingi’s hip, earning a laugh from his friend.
Once Yunho’s footsteps had disappeared up the stairs, Mingi joined the group in the kitchen.
“Hongjoong-ah’s gonna kill someone,” Wooyoung singsonged under his breath to Mingi as the taller man leaned against the counter.
“As long as its not us, I’m not complaining.”

Asking Lilia Vanrouge to tutor you in history sounds like a great idea, doesn't it? He seems to know a lot about historical events due to living through them and there's even a picture resembling him in your textbook. History is his best subject. What could go wrong?
You leave the tutoring session more confused than before. Lilia's knack for history is no joke, though his knowledge is all over the place.
Hardly any of what he says gets covered in class. It's probably not going to be on the test. He brings up the names of random people, common folk with no impact on the grand scheme of things. He drones on about these people for longer than necessary. He rambles about insignificant bits of their daily lives like an old man reminiscing about old friends and you don't know how to stop him.
"Patricia really hated when they implemented the new calendar system, khee hee hee! Said it made her miss a date with this lad she fancied, but it all worked out in the end. He came to find her after a while and they went steady. Never met him. Heard he was a paper boy. The kind that makes paper, mind you. Word has it that he made fine paper but I never much cared about the quality of paper."
Lilia starts floating off his chair as he becomes immersed in his own tale. He crosses his arms in thought. You stare at his exposed forehead as he turns upside-down, your pen hand at the ready in case he says anything actually useful.
"Ezekiel, though? He was a lad who was mad about paper. Oho. This was, oh, roughly 350 years ago. He penned a letter to the Shaftlands government to petition for lower taxes. About a decade after that blight incident that wiped out their food reserves. More than half their crops were being taxed and it was a brutally cold winter, he could barely afford firewood, but he still used the best parchment he could find. Said it made a stronger point to those in power. Oh, and his daughter was so angry about it!"
Lilia laughs. Three hours pass in this manner. He wafts through the air absentmindedly and bumps against your shoulder, sending him floating back in the other direction. When he drifts too far, he magically pops into another spot and makes you jump. He has a smile on his face, this is genuine fun for him.
You manage to fill in half a page with notes that seem kind of useful. You don't know how you'd source them in an essay, though, aside from "Lilia told me." You ask if he knows anything about the legendary Queendom of Roses Revolt and he launches into another unrelated story that happened around the same time about some really good chicken he once ate.
When you've had enough and the study session is over, Lilia thanks you. He gives you a piece of hard candy, its wrapper somewhat disheveled like it was in his pocket for a week. "It's important for kids like you to study hard," he says with a thumbs up. He pats you on the back before leaving. You consider asking Riddle for help the next time you have questions.
