Are there any people Nemu gets along particularly well with in the Gotei 13?
Is there anyone she avoids? Anyone she wants to get to know better?
Alternatively, would Yamamoto ever consider making a fourteenth division?
Nemu's primary hobbies are Aiding and Abetting so she is GREAT friends with everyone else in the Shinigami Women's Association. Girl loves her some shenanigans, even chicanery, but the SWA is providing her with outright machinations and the lab-grown henchwoman is THRIVING.
The most important things about Nemu in AEIWAM are:
1. She knows perfectly well that she is a lab-grown person, she's her father's seventh attempt, and she regularly looks after her likely successor Hachigo in her tank in the basement of the 12th. This doesn't bother her- if anything, Nemu is a bit smug about all the care and attention her father put into creating her, whereas many of her colleagues are the result of insufficiently durable prophylactics.
1.1: She is sometimes a little sad that Hachigo will not be raised to consciousness until after Nemu has been destroyed, as she would like the opportunity to talk with her "little sister" and make sure she understands all the prerogatives they share, because there are a sight more than Mayuri knows about, and also to play house a bit.
1.2: Nemu really likes playing house in which she has her collection of dolls perform arbitrarily assigned familial roles, but if you ask her why, she gets very agitated and tries to move on from the topic.
2. Nemu takes after Mayuri in quite a few ways that are not immediately obvious because she's not as vocal as he is, but she has the same mile-wide streak of pride and the ruthlessness of someone who can see the bright, shining line between her means and goals, and the willingness to disregard all else in pursuit of those goals.
Nemu has been in a personal quest to push the scientific boundaries of sanitation and disease eradication, quietly running her own experiments on the other side of the lab from her father and the occasional unsuspecting 12th division member. Her secrecy from Mayuri is not a matter of safety- being disassembled by him is a mere nuisance to her- but a matter of pride: for all his other accomplishments, Mayuri has never successfully eradicated a disease, so she wants to have eradicated at least one major pestilence before she presents her results to flex on him.
The only real difference between Mayuri and his daughter is that she can hold up her end of a conversation without immediately resorting to threats of violence to get her way, or falling for obvious jabs at her pride. You can neg Mayuri into doing something, but not Nemu.
...her problem is that she's extremely susceptible to flattery and the casual expectations of others. It took Matsumoto all of ten minutes to work out that she could get Nemu to do nearly anything if she started the request with "I'm sorry to bother you with this but frankly you're probably the only person in soul society who could handle it-!".
Nemu would rather die than fall short of the image others have of her in their minds, and it is a testament to Matsumoto's loyalty as a friend that absolutely nobody else knows this.
3. What social graces Nemu does possess, she has largely due to her fellow SWA members, but ESPECIALLY Unohana. Lady Unohana did not come by her social graces naturally, but instead by centuries of patience and analytical observation, and can now explain a great many social interactions from a unique outside perspective, often to the horror of her friends.
Nemu, who was not allowed to interact with people outside of the 12th until she hit puberty/mayuri's previous lieutenant escaped and he had to promote SOMEONE, Found these lectures to be invaluable, and took notes. This greatly pleased Unohana, who has the maternal instincts of a cuckoo but is a remarkably good teacher, and soon the two of them had formed an odd friendship people would lack the ability to describe until 2001 when Tatsuki Aikawa introduced soul society to the phenomenon of Autism.
3.1: At least some of Nemu's fascination with disease control comes from Unohana- the older woman was once verbally recounting a problem with hantaviruses at an SWA meeting more as a form of rubber ducking than anything else. Nemu realized and pointed out that the likely vector was probably not the fourth's lab rats somehow contracting the diseases through contaminated grain, but improperly sanitized interactions between the research medics in charge of the lab rats and the sanitation medics that were exposed to the sewer rats.
"...I think you're right." Unohana realized, then turned to Nemu, smiled and patted her head. "Good girl!'
Nemu has been chasing that high ever since.
4. Nemu is rather leery of Ukitake, actually.
The captain of the 13th has absolutely no problems with checking the behavior of the other Captain's, with force of necessary. He gets away with this kind of dominance play because he never does it unless he's damn sure he's right to do so, and if push comes to shove, he'll be backed up by the other captains.
Mayuri, chronic ethics guidelines violator, has been on Ukitake's bad side more than once. It's less that Nemu feels persecuted by proxy, and more that...
Well frankly, Ukitake is scary when he's angry. The man is a very heavy hitter among the captains and if he's genuinely mad he will not hold back. Mayuri is more death-resistant than most, and has gotten into more than his fair share of battles with his colleagues, but Ukitake tops the leaderboard in terms of number of altercations and closest anyone has gotten to actually killing her father.
...which makes the fact that Ukitake is so kind and friendly to Nemu all the more upsetting for her. The fact Ukitake can compartmentalize like that is what she finds most frightening about him. He WOULD kill her father and offer to take her out for ice cream afterwards.
So she keeps her distance from him. She knows it's irrational- she's heard more than enough horror stories about the Bad Old Days from Unohana to know that all the really successful captains are capable of this kind of extremely selective violence.
It's the fact that Ukitake is so goddamn NICE all the time that really illustrates the terrifying gulf between human nature and Nemu's understanding thereof.
---
Yamamoto was forbidden from expanding the Gotei-13 from its dimensions of 13 divisions, with no more than 200 members each by governmental fiat- the Central 46 kept the Gotei-13 obedient by keeping them overworked.
Yamamoto is perfectly aware that the Gotei-13 is being forced to do too much work for too few people, but is less of the opinion that he needs a fourteenth division so much as about half the division responsibilities should be someone else's job. Combat medics should not also be doing civil sanitation. Research and Development is key, but a waste of shinigami when there are so many other perfectly qualified nerds out there. After the events of TBTP, the 13th division was forced to take over the work of the Kido Corps, which pissed Yamamoto off because he had damn near foisted the burden of research from the 13th onto the Corps, and now they had to take on the whole thing!
So, no. Yamamoto does not want a 14th division. He'd like the 13 he currently has to be free to do their fucking jobs.

WOULD THEY DATE A PLUS SIZED PERSON? | SKZ⁸
ᝰ.ᐟauthors note: raise your hand if you’ve been victimized by a tik tok video regarding who in skz would date a plus sized person! 🙋🏻‍♀️ in honor of that, here’s my take on this lol. these were written with reality in mind, but sprinkled by delusion on some. you’re all gorgeous and we don’t know these people personally, so delulu is the solulu.
p.s: written by a plus sized girlie
Tumblr media
౨ৎ — BANG CHAN
Yes.
see source one, source two, and i had another video that i cant find, but chan talks about how saying “you look fine as you are” can sometimes give a negative impression, and how people say “you look good when you’re skinny” but he (at the time) didn’t like how skinny he was, and wanted to gain weight. he just…gets it, in a way, and i’m standing on that! can you tell he’s my bias?
i feel like his is so straightforward that there’s not a lot to elaborate on. he understands that bodies are different, for many reasons, and has always been so open about struggles. be it his own struggles or others, he’s always so kind and open minded. he also definitely gives me the vibe that he’s not actively seeking out romance when he meets someone, so he’s not even considering what’s attractive and what’s not attractive. people become attractive to him when he learns their personality and gets a good grasp of their energy and vibe. so, yes, chan would definitely date a plus sized person <3
౨ৎ — LEE MINHO 🐈
Yes.
now, i don’t have a lot to back me up here other than straight vibes. he’s another one who doesn’t immediately consider romance when meeting other people, and i think he’s probably experienced being physically attracted to someone and then their personality completely throws him off, so he’s just stopped considering looks as a whole. even if looks are considered, he seems like he doesn’t understand why he’d go out of his way to comment on someone else’s body, or why anyone else would. he’s very demure, very minding his own business, very whatever comes his way is what he loves. he’s just a chill guy.
౨ৎ — SEO CHANGBIN 🐇
…do I even need to say it?
for a number of reasons, yes. first and foremost, he just has that vibe that he loves the look, and secondly, he knows what it’s like to not be accepted because of how you look, and therefore, would never want to be that way to other people. he’s a sweetheart, and very much just wants someone who dotes on him and that he can dote on in return. changbin is a strong yes and you’re incorrect if you disagree.
౨ৎ — HWANG HYUNJIN 🥟
indecisive
genuinely, the only thing keeping me from saying yes is how firm some other people’s ‘no’s have been. from my perspective, hyunjin seems like someone who’s open minded and more focused on the ways he can connect with people rather than worrying about judging them. not to mention, he’s an artist. one could argue that he’s more critical, but i also feel like because of that, he wants to really know someone before making any judgements. plus, given the forbidden bullying scandal, i feel like he might be terrified to find himself in another situation like that but i digress
so like…if you ask me? yes, but i am delusional and hyunjin is one of my bias wreckers so who knows
౨ৎ — HAN JISUNG 🐿️
YES GAWDDD
look, i’ve seen mixed opinions on him as well (most of these opinions i’m referring to are old tumblr MTL posts or tik toks and the comment sections on them) BUT i feel like he’s very curious and open minded. so, say a plus sized person shoots their shot? han’s got that “you know what? hell yeah.” mindset. ANNDDDD the video where felix mentions gaining weight, and han immediately reassures him that gaining weight is okay, and that he’s pretty. plus, han spends a lot of time working with chan and changbin, to which i feel like they all probably have come to similar conclusions due to their influence on each other. plus han also gives me the energy that if you’re pretty, you’re pretty, regardless of size, shape, etc.
౨ৎ — LEE FELIX 🐣
…yes. and hear me out,
i’ve seen almost everyone who’s done this sort of thing say that felix is a hard no because of his own struggles with his body and how his perception of beauty is warped. while i can see that, i don’t think that translates to how he views other people. if anything, he wouldn’t want to put someone else through what his own mind puts him through. not to mention, i think he could find a lot of comfort in security in being with a plus sized person who’s confident with themselves, and could implement better ideals to felix. that’s just my take <33
౨ৎ — KIM SEUNGMIN 🐶
YES.
i don’t think i’ve seen anyone say he wouldn’t, and i stand with that because hear me out:
“but i’m fat”
“…okay and i’m seungmin?”
this man does not care. he acknowledges it and appreciates it. he’s very much in the “if i like you, i like you” category. case rested.
౨ৎ — YANG JEONGIN 🦊
indecisive pt. 2
in theory, yes. i think he’s probably taken some influence from chan, or maybe even seeing how changbin has been affected and treated by media would alter any negative views he might have had. to be fair, i just don’t even see jeongin dating LMAO like he’s content as he is, and if the person that happened to come his way was plus sized? if he likes your personality, he’s down.

OK, so, the name I was really struggling to remember last night was: SPINOZA.
Bear in mind I come at this from a philosophical perspective and not a theological perspective, but all these guys were Christian theists wrestling with the problem of how and whether free will can happen in the context of an all-powerful, all-knowing, eternal God, and Cartesian Dualism (the thought that the mind and body are separate substances (spiritual and physical)). This causes a problem for causation. It's hard to understand how an immaterial entity (the soul, God, angels) can interact with a physical substance. Pierre Gassendi is particularly good on articulating why this just doesn't make sense Apologies, my cat is now being a pain, so I can't go look up all the references I'd like to, but this is the Stanford Encyclopedia on Gassendi:
And Descartes' Meditations are usually published with objections and replies between Descartes and various correspondents (Gassendi, Mersenne, Hobbes, among others) and his correspondence with Princess Elisabeth of Bohemia is also good (he was trying to court her as a patron, and she was an excellent philosopher herself).
But Spinoza is the one that's really wild, IMHO. He argues for psychophysical parallelism: the spiritual/mental and body are entirely separate. He just bites the bullet: causation doesn't make sense if they interact, so... they don't. But God, who is all powerful and all knowing, set both the spiritual and the physical going from the beginning as separate paths of causation that work perfectly in parallel. So when you mentally want to move your hand, you physically do so, but your desire/thought didn't cause that, it's all part of a line of causation going back to the first cause (God) who determined how all of physical actions and all mental actions should be. Like setting off two lines of dominoes that perfectly mirror each other.
This is a problem for free will because it means that God pre-ordained all your actions. The feeling that you caused your hand to move is an illusion. God did that.
There's also, like, interventionism? Where God interacts at every time you want to do something physical, because only an all-powerful God could square the circle that is psycho-physical interaction. But again, that means God controls what you do, and if he doesn't want something to happen, it won't. And if God wants us to be free, does this mean God isn't free to stop us doing bad things? Does God have no free will?
OK, Garlic is gonna destroy the house if I don't stop now, but hopefully that gives you some starting points. Again, this isn't addressing the theological and scriptural questions about whether angels have free will - I'm not a Bible scholar and I don't know much about what's considered a heresy and what isn't - but as I say, all these guys were devout Christians. Gassendi was a monk!
trying to understand the angels-venerated-as-saints lore

until recently i was a "havent even touched the game in 8 years, i barely remember the characters" type of ut fan, but i just finished it again and my brain is active again, but im really rusty. i could only think of you to ask, please feel free to ignore if youve answered before or for any reason at all. ill send them by separating, first one is this: since flowey says he "could never get past Asgore if it werent for you" does that tie to the quality of his determination, stats, or gameplay? like is he simply stuck on the "playing" part, no matter what he has equiped or his LV, is he simply unable to manage the turns? im a shitty gamer myself, i can bet sans fight would succeed to stop me from finishing a NoMercy, so is the asgore fight equivalent of that for flowey? so he never got Any "ending" at all, just went around doing what he could, until only thing left was asgore, and reseted? if so, wouldnt that make it basically canon he'd tried a NoMercy and got stumped worse with sans? please tell me your thoughts on floweys time with the power to save and reset
Hi, and welcome back to the game! I was in your exact same position a couple of years ago, so I'm super flattered you're looking at me for information.
Flowey's final kill count before the events of the game is... debatable. More under the cut because this got long.
Of course, like you said, you have lines like the ones after you deal with Asgore for him:
Howdy! It's me, FLOWEY. FLOWEY the FLOWER! I owe you a HUGE thanks. You really did a number on that old fool. Without you, I NEVER could have gotten past him. But now, with YOUR help… He's DEAD. And I'VE got the human SOULS!
There's a pretty straightforward interpretation of this line, and it's the one you brought up: Flowey tried to defeat Asgore but couldn't, and he needed us to weaken him first to achieve his goal. The phrasing doesn't leave much to be contested. However! There's another Flowey line--this time in the geno route, I don't know if you've already gotten to it in your replay--that i feel can offer a slightly different perspective.
You understand, I've done everything this world has to offer. I've read every book. I've burned every book. I've won every game. I've lost every game. I've appeased everyone. I've killed everyone. Sets of numbers… Lines of dialogue… I've seen them all.
If you go with the previous interpretation, you can read this line as Flowey being hyperbolic, or taking some poetic liberty for the sake of rhetorical parallelism. But considering his larger metanarrative role as a mirror and reflection of the completionist player experience, I think it is also completely fair to assume that Flowey HAS, in fact, killed Asgore before. Just like he's killed Sans. Just like he's killed literally everyone who can be killed in the game, either directly or indirectly (see, in our case, Alphys).
This does require a re-framing of the post Asgore fight dialogue, however. Which is... actually not as much of a stretch as you'd expect!
"but now, with your help... he's dead. and i've got the human SOULs." -> i needed your help to kill him.
"but now with your help... he's dead. and i've got the human SOULs." -> i needed your help to get the SOULs, specifically.
It's a subtle difference, but one that gets corroborated, once again, in Flowey's NEW HOME monologue in the geno route.
We don't even need to leave to get them this time. The king has six of them locked away. I've tried hundreds of ways to get him to show me them… But he just won't. I know he'll do it for YOU.
Remember how the SOUL containers are hidden under the floor in front of the Barrier until the moment you and Asgore initiate the battle? There would be no way for Flowey to know where they were stored unless Asgore chose to show them to him.
If you want my personal favorite interpretation, I think it's pretty clear that I lean towards the second option. All while not discarding the idea that Flowey is just a bit of a shit gamer as unrealistic (for all he may trap us in unavoidable attacks over and over, he does get thwarted every single time). He certainly seems more apt in plotting schemes and manipulation than sheer fighting prowess. My preference also remains because, while Flowey IS softlocked out of the ability to "finish the game" until we (the true protagonist) start playing, that is because Undertale doesn't end when we kill Asgore: it ends when we get to the Surface. THAT'S the final objective Flowey wants, and can never achieve on his own in the state of the game before it begins. Whether Asgore is alive or dead is irrelevant.
My preference also comes from Asgore and Flowey's characterizations. We know that Flowey has spent a significant amount of time stalking and resenting and mocking and enjoying Toriel's suffering in the RUINs. He is extremely good at pushing buttons and digging wounds back open. And well, Asgore himself is actively suicidal by the time we get to him, and has been for a while. Think only of the ending where Flowey doesn't kill him, so he kills himself instead. Furthermore, if you look at Undyne's reminiscing during our date in pacifist...
Once, to prove I was the strongest, I tried to fight ASGORE. Emphasis on TRIED. I couldn't land a single blow on him!
...it's clear Asgore is not only a very strong opponent, but also capable of blocking/dodging attacks. Something he doesn't do during our battle with him, in order to give us a fair fighting chance. Which is also clear suicidal ideation. Now, once again you could use this dialogue to support the opposite thesis that Flowey never managed to kill him. Asgore clearly has past experience in fending off rabid 13yos who want to beat his ass. But he is also in a very fraught mental state as is. Flowey's... well, everything--his mere existence as a concept would be enough to make him want to die. You can't tell me Flowey never drove his father to suicide during his resets (think of Asgore and Alphys' parallels), OR his mother--though I don't think he would be successful in her case (which only makes him hate Toriel more.)
But I would say both options are very good and can both be used to explore their characterization, on their own and in relation to one another.
So while I don't disagree with your comment about the Asgore fight being Flowey's personal Sans fight, I do think Flowey's Sans fight WAS also just... the sans fight lmao. Possibly with easier requirements to face it than us, if you only consider this dialogue of his after several neutral endings in a row
You know. Smiley Trashbag. Say. If I have ONE piece of advice for you... DON'T. Let his brother. Find out ANYTHING about you. He'll... well… Let's just say. He's caused me more than my fair share of resets. Stay away from that guy.
Though it's true that that could both refer to his fight and other shenanigans Sans could have pulled to cause problems on purpose for a time traveler, if he really saw them as a threat that needed dealing with.
does that tie to the quality of his determination, stats, or gameplay? like is he simply stuck on the "playing" part, no matter what he has equiped or his LV, is he simply unable to manage the turns?
I'll leave that to your discretion, actually! Like I already mentioned, it does seem to me that Flowey's specific strengths lie in his ability to manipulate and plot from the shadows, but whether he's naturally good at battles or not, I think the core of what makes him dangerous is the same thing that made us dangerous too. The fact that his mistakes, at the end of the day, do not matter. Flowey can fail and die and try again every single time he wants.
Every other character only needs to mess up once.
When the bored time bending kid with a violent complex has the wheel, it's not a matter of "if" he beats you. It's a matter of when.
Hope that made some kind of sense!

Looking at dr odyssey tumblr and idk who needs to hear this but as a polyamorous person I get the feeling that some of you dont actually realize how much work a polyamorous relationship takes????
First of all even if polyamoury (in this case im personally hoping for a throuple, but there is several ways polyamoury can look) is established, if not everyone is totally ready or on the same page and communicating its just not going to work. Its going to end badly.
Secondly if even one of them (in this case all of them) has not previously considered the possibility of polyamory as an option for them and their relationships thats like. A whole lifetime of nuclear family/romantic monogamy idealisation (and/or baggage) to unlearn.
Thirdly a sexy threesome and a healthy and stable throuple are absolutely NOT the same thing. Both are 100% valid but they absolutely are not gonna just all fuck together once and immediately be prepared to be romantically involved in a non-monogamous setting (whether as a throuple or a V shaped relationship.)
Im seeing a little bit of catastrophizing and with the renewal being up in the air i can understand that but seriously. Give them time to work out themselves and what they want for themselves and from eachother and how they want it. Im actually enjoying this relationship progression personally! and I don't really get why people are panicking about it being walked back. Sure I'd like to see more max and tristan interaction but like. Just give it time guys.
Also, idk why people are mad at max for wanting a more traditional-style family kind of deal??? He can still have that and be in a throuple. Its really not that far-fetched for someone to want a whole stereotypical white picket fence lifestyle, just with three people instead of two. And its not like he came out as a Trad ManTM he literally just said hes "a bit more trad than he'd like to admit" (which considering how non-traditional that man is, isnt really saying that much.)
Also also, hes allowed to enjoy no-strings sex and still be uncomfortable with it being "no-strings" despite him communicating that he has feelings. God forbid a man have boundaries I guess???

Does BNHA fail at being a superhero story?
So my “BNHA IS NOT A WORK OF SOCIETAL CRITICISM AND ITS MESSAGE IS NOT REALLY ‘OUT OF JAPAN’ FRIENDLY” post had some interesting responses that made me wish to address some more points.
Many people noticed Horikoshi was inspired by American comics but fails to understand their thematic, morals and the politic behind it and I see the problem as being slightly different in that it’s not that he didn’t understand them, it’s he didn’t care about them.
American comics were an inspiration but then he took some basic ideas from them and transposed them in a story bathed in Japanese culture and values in which, he believed, JAPANESE READERS would identify. They’re the target audience, so thematic, morals and politics must fit them.
All those differences I listed in my post between readers’ expectations and what BNHA does?
They’re there because Japan views (or used to see) things differently.
It’s something I touch in many posts, for example “THE JUSTICE SYSTEM IN BNHA - PART 1” & “THE JUSTICE SYSTEM IN BNHA - PART 2”, “Ramblings about the Todoroki family” “Part 1”, - “Part 2” & “Part 3”, “Heroes and human rights” (especially in the reblog in reply to a comment), “‘Code red’ order in Aldera middle school aka teachers supporing bullying in BNHA” and so on.
It makes sense because Horikoshi has zero interests in preaching that the American beliefs, values, ideas expressed in comics are right, he’s just taking some background ideas in American comics and transposing them in a Japanese setting.
What if Japan had people with superpower too? What if we made some of them a new kind of cops called ‘Heroes’?
The way Japan would handle people with superpowers, what they decided to call Hero, not an independent, selfless person who pursues helping others and justice but as richly paid figures who’re as popular as idols in the justice system shows us a completely different mindset.
The police, the prison, in Japan they’re greatly valued and appreciated, people don’t doubt them, when the police arrests you, YOU HAVE TO BE GUILTY and if you’re guilty you probably deserve what happens to you. If you’re a dangerous escaping criminal the police is allowed to shoot you in the back, which ties with how Heroes can kill Villains if they’re deemed dangerous enough. Things like giving people psychological help is heavily discriminated. Work needs to be prioritized over family.
In such a mind setting I don’t know how Japan would, for example, see Batman. His unwillingness to kill the Joker, the fact he brings his Villains to an asylum that he tries to have them psychologically cured should feel weird.
BNHA just slams them in Tartarus, not in the Arkham Asylum, even when they seem mentally unstable like Moonfish and no one worries because they're Villains.
Midoriya, Shouto and Uraraka want to ‘save’ their Villains, but neither of them seem to consider they should end up in a place that’s different from Tartarus.
BNHA Heroes ARE cogs in the machine,  NEVER critical of society even when they acknowledge it's grey and not perfect, and this is accepted as right by the story.
Let’s go back to the Lady Nagant’s arc. She confesses the commission had her murder Heroes because they were committing crimes, then that she couldn’t bear doing it and, as a result, she protested with the president. When the latter tried to take her out she killed him.
What is the thing that impresses/surprises Midoriya the most? That the commission had her kill people? That the president tried to kill her when she complained about what they were doing?
No, that she killed the president, that she went against the system. True, he was fed a different story so his reaction can be tied to this also but when he heard the Commission had Nagant kill people… WHERE WAS HIS REACTION?
He had none because deep down the idea is she should have obeyed orders, that yes, she was just a cog.
Midoriya claims he sees things more clearly now and that now he knows society has shades of gray BUT HE NEVER PLANS TO CHANGE SOCIETY RADICALLY, TO FIX THE WRONG OF IT, just to extend a helping hand when he has the chance.
While the western fandom wants the HPSC to be one of the great evil, Horikoshi easily dismisses it. The presidents who did bad things for the greater good are dead, the rest were just mindless soldiers, let's replace them with a better president and we're done.
After all they acted for the well being of society.
And then there’s of course the whole X-Men/Heteromorph. X-Men were also meant to be an allegory about the consequences of racial discrimination in America where the Heteromorphs are meant to be victims of xenophobia and Japan has its own idea on how to deal with it.
Of course everything is tackled differently, BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS SEEN DIFFERENTLY.
@stillness-in-green has many good posts dealing with the handling of Heteromorph but I recommend On Riots and Resolutions (Part One) as it tackles the way Japanese people don’t see themselves as racists but as xenophobics.
Long story short, it’s not that Horikoshi understands or not Hero comics, it’s HE NEVER PLANNED TO MAKE A COMIC WITH U.S.A. THEMES/VALUES/MORALS IN THE FIRST PLACE. He wanted to use the ideas of Heroes and some points to ponder and themes he found in comics to make a Manga with Japanese values and settings. As Japan is deeply different from U.S.A., of course we have moral reversed.
Batman is against killing, other superheroes might have killed but it’s so rare part of the fandom wonder if they’ve a no-killing rule, Midoriya, a teenager, is encouraged to kill as this would mean ‘saving’ and ultimately he kills Shigaraki and becomes the greatest Hero.
That’s why, in my previous post, I said BNHA has a message that’s not really ‘out of Japan’ friendly. Many countries outside Japan do not approve the idea that killing=saving, that work needs to be prioritized over family, that only the political party affiliated to Villains would care about GLARING human rights violations in prison.
We can’t however claim it’s a flaw in Horikoshi’s writing if his country agrees with this mind setting (though things are changing in Japan, that’s why BNHA can feel even to Japanese people like an outdated work), it’s just not a writing that’s suitable for countries with different values and a very different way to tackle with many issues raised in BNHA.
After all we can see it even if we spend some time looking through fanfics, which try to ‘adjust’ BNHA by proposing the character would even use a different cultural approach to certain issues or that laws would just be different from what they are in Japan (I’m guilty of this as well so I’m not criticizing).
All this to say that BNHA works in a specific  setting and, outside of its birth country it can be seen as an interesting look at the superhero setting if it were to take place in another culture… but it’s not a story fit for many who live outside Japan and with different values. We don’t want the world that BNHA offers as an ideal/better one because for us it’s not as such.

How glamorous. Thats the first thing that came to mind when Aryu saw you for the first time. Now, to be fair, glamorous wasn’t exactly a new adjective in his vocabulary, but if you knew him, you know that he doesn’t give it out so easily.
The moment he spotted you his eyes sparkled with a strange feeling. He could hear Aiku and Sendou snickering to each other in the background but that’s not what mattered. What mattered was you. You, so ever graceful individual, dressed in such a distasteful manner. Oh, his poor, innocent eyes.
What a shameful sight, a radiant being like you wrapped in a fabric catastrophe. Those colors? Clashing. That cut? An affront to symmetry. It was a sin against aesthetics, and he, Aryu Jyubei, the apostle of glamour had no choice but to act. It was his duty.
“Ah, my dear. You’re the new manager, isn’t it?” His voice smooth and elegant as always as his long legs carried him effortlessly towards you, towering over your frame, as his long fingers lifted a strand of your hair as though assessing the texture of rare silk. His face was far too close, and his pose naturally resembled a model in the midst of a photoshoot.
“Such… radiant warmth energy. Oh, how marvellous!” He said as his eyes traced every inch of your body, not stopping even at your confused expression.
“Thank you?” Your confusion held no weight to Aryu, as he continued with his train of thoughts.
“I just— don’t understand how someone as astonishing as you my dear, could dress in such… garments. Ow, my poor eyes!” He threw his head back dramatically while you stared at him unmoving.
“It’s 7am. I didn’t even have my breakfast yet because I still need to finish preparing the essentials kits for each player. My head is filled with 90% World Cup stuff and 10% of documents I still have to write. Trust me when I say, my hair or my clothes, are the least of my worries now” your voice calm, slightly tired, as you looked at him.
His eyes almost left his skull, as his expression morphs into something that resembles shock. How? Really? What in the world? But also… how intriguing. You didn’t even flinch. You didn’t awkwardly laugh like some of the others would have. Nor did you simply ignore him. You just stated your truth.
And he didn’t know whether to be pleased or absolutely horrified that someone could be so calm and collected in being so out of order. This… this was unacceptable. And yet… captivating. You had the nerve to dismiss fashion at the altar of duty and somehow made it look noble. Aryu was torn between fainting and offering to become your personal stylist. Maybe both. After all, he was the apostle of glamour, no?
There was a long pause. You had just rejected the sacred trinity: wardrobe, skincare, and morning aesthetics. Daring, bold. Maybe too much. Aryu blinked. Then finally sighed, a long tragic sound, which somehow he made it sound like a sweet melody.
“You poor, magnificent soul,” he said, shaking his head with genuine sorrow. “Your life… has been a series of poorly coordinated fabric choices.”
He reached into his bag and pulled out what looked like a travel sized bottle, very expensive, of leave in conditioner?
“I cannot allow this to continue,” he declared. “Consider this the first step in your aesthetic rehabilitation. Courtesy of Aryu Jyubei. No need to thank me… yet.”
You stared at the bottle in your hand like it might explode. “You’re giving me… hair cream?”
“Correction,” he said, pointing his perfectly manicured finger at the bottle. “An ultra lightweight moisture formula with UV protection and anti frizz technology. It’s a lifestyle, not a product.”
From behind you two, Aiku’s voice cut through the confusing moment.
“Yo, Aryu, you flirting again or just trying to recruit another victim into your beauty cult?”
Aryu didn’t even look at him. “I’m saving a life, Aiku. A noble cause. Unlike you, who insists on wearing socks with sandals out in Shibuya and then argue on why girls break up with you.”
“HEY—!”
Aryu had already turned his full attention back to you, not bothering to respond to any of Aiku’s provocations.
His eyes narrowed, not unkindly. “I see greatness in you,” he whispered, dramatic as if he was a character in an Argentinian telenovela. “But you walk in shadows. You deserve to shine. To live, to breathe the essence of glamour”
“Thanks,” you muttered, already turning to escape whatever was going on. “But I really do have to go back to work—”
“Meet me at 8 p.m. sharp.” His voice cut through the air, demanding yet with an elegance that left you speechless. “My room is on the second floor, last to the right. Bring nothing. I’ll provide everything.”
You stopped. “Why?”
His smile was breathtaking. “Because, my dear manager, your glow up begins tonight.”
You blinked. What in the world did he just said? “My what now?” You asked, trying to push down that mix of panic raising in your voice.
What in the world did you get yourself into… certainly that’s not what you were expecting when you signed as a manager.
But as you were busy trying to make sense of the situation, Aryu was already walking away, the morning sun catching in his moving long hair, and you wondered for a moment… Is he even human? He has to be some sort of mythological creature. A siren maybe. How can a human being be so pretty? He turned only once, just before disappearing around the corner.
“Oh, and dear? Don’t wear beige. It’s a crime against your complexion.”
And just like that he made his exit. Leaving you speechless and holding what probably was 120 bucks worth of conditioner in your hands.

I read recently (this is all already public btw but I won’t use any info that could be identifying) about a woman with contamination ocd (but her contamination was sort of abstract, in practice she was washing a lot etc but things felt ‘contaminated’ by distrust, broken promises etc), and she was effectively confined to two safe spaces: the driver seat of her car and her room. she lived with her boyfriend of a few years. obviously her life was very reduced, she felt so immobilised that she couldn’t even really shower or eat food other people had prepared and struggled to do laundry etc. she was depressed.
on christmas day her boyfriend played a ‘prank’ on her, giving her a few presents. they were rubbish that he’d fished out of their bin and wrapped in christmas paper (it’s like a horror story…). she said this triggered her immensely, she felt scared and confused and a huge lack of trust had entered the relationship. he’d also moved things around in their (her? idk) room in a way she had no control over, so she felt the bedroom was no longer safe and she started living out of her car.
she wrote that she knew her ocd made her irrational, her boyfriend had probably just been trying to use tough love to ‘snap her out of it’, and she wasn’t sure she had a right to feel as bad about it as she did. she revealed he had done things like this often, deliberately dirtying things and presenting her with things that felt unsafe, despite her being at the time severely ill. I was interested in how other people would respond to this situation, because while ocd is a disorder, there are qualified professionals who help treat people in this sort of reduced state, and it’s a crisis situation that cannot be ‘fixed’ by someone’s partner praying a cruel ‘prank’, however irrational and ‘crazy’ the person’s behaviour may seem to them. for her it felt like a life or death situation, but she thought maybe she could be in the wrong (she had chosen to break up with him once he’d played this prank and ‘contaminated’ the bedroom (I remind you here that feelings of distrust and lack of safety in relationships were directly linked to her feeling that things were dirtied)).
they told her to call a women’s refuge where she could live for a while, so she could not sleep in her car, and that it sounded like her boyfriend had been abusing her for months when she was having a mental health crisis. I was relieved when others reacted to this situation with the amount of horror I was feeling! it made me wonder about how vulnerable women with mental illnesses like ocd can be to this form of intimate partner abuse, because they understandably view their reactions as heightened, irrational, and therefore suspect they must be in the wrong for feeling afraid. no partner that loves someone would ever try and ‘help’ them like that, period
I will try and turn reblogs off for this btw, but if it doesn’t work please don’t share it. I have not shared anything this person did not share herself publicly, but I still feel a bit mm even about posting it here, I’ll probably delete it later. I wish I could post something only for my mutuals or followers. but I’ve been thinking about this the past few days, what a nightmare story that I’d never even considered before…

Hi! As a SNS shipper, I still don't understand why Kishi felt like he had to make Naruto and Sasuke receive the chakras of the brothers Indra and Ashura. He must've known that antis would've taken it and manipulated it into them being reincarnated brothers by soul/spirit. It's funny because it literally says in the manga that it's chakra! Chakra doesn't even equal spirit, it can be described as a supernatural energy source!!
Other than it adding more development, I don't really see a reason why he'd do that. Also, people say that the only reasons SNS were drawn to each other is because of the chakras from Ashura and Indra. What do you think about this?
Hi, the problem is with these people who cannot read with understanding. Sasuke repeatedly shows that he is dissatisfied with Naruto's answer about them maybe being brothers or friends. You can read more about it here. Kishi could not present it clearer because it is already clear as day. For instance when Sai spoke with Sasuke he said that Naruto considers him as brother and Sasuke straight up refuses and says that he has only one brother.
Tumblr media
Naruto called him brother and friend because he was confused if what he feels for Sasuke can be considered that. It cannot and after their final fight Naruto himself says that he does not think he has an answer. Kishi also many times stated that their relationship is more than blood brothers and it is hard for him to explain what their bond is. If it was brotherly, friendly it would not be hard and he would explain it right away. If they are more than blood brothers then the only answer is that they are soulmates.
Tumblr media
When Naruto talks with Hagoromo he straight up says that he is not Ashura and Sasuke is not Indra. Clear as day. Hagoromo does not even protest against this statement.
Tumblr media
Why do you think Hagoromo chose Naruto and Sasuke? Bceuase even though they have Ashura and Indra's chakra they are totally different from them and from every other incarnation of them. All of them always chose to priorities their own goals and visions. Naruto and Sasuke break this cycle because they always would choose each other over their own goals. Why would they do it? What makes them so different? Love! A very strong love that can transform darkness into light. Friendship or brotherly love would not do it. Ashura and Indra failed and they were brothers. Hashirama and Madara shared strong friendship but still it could not change their fate. This is the reason why Hagoromo decided to show himself after so much time and gave his powers to Naruto and Sasuke. He saw the love that they both share and it gave him hope for the first time. He also points out that the love Sasuke feels is different than the love he had for his mother. There you have it!
Tumblr media
The fact that Naruto and Sasuke are the Sun and the Moon is romantic in nature especially knowing that their love broke the cycle of war and hatred. The Moon is always feminine and the Sun is always masculine. The Sun appears to chase the Moon in the sky. The Moon needs the Sun to shine. Sasuke needs Naruto's love to break free from his darkness and hatred. Furthermore, they will always find each other in every lifetime. Is it not romantic trope? It is! Literal soulmates thing! SS and NH just wish to have it. I also want to point out that Sakura and Hinata are just one of the many wives that their incarnations had. They are not important at all and they are just additions. These women were never love of their lives because in different timelines they married with other women and these women were not incarnations of each other. The Sun and the Moon can have around them many stars but the center is them and they will remain together forever.

I LOVED the last ParaCold fic you wrote, it was so so good -- if you have any ideas for writing for them again, I'd love to read it! Consider this a request? :D
Though if you would rather, I'd also be happy to read anything you wrote for Broken/Paranoid or Contrarian/Hero~ Take your pick, I love everything you write!
(I WILL NEVER SAY NO TO PARACOLD! Thank you, because the paracold fics are some of my favorite, and I always seem to get possessed when it comes to them and also Skeptunist, so I hope this one is good as well! Enjoy!)
"I'm sorry."
Cold spoke into the darkness of their bedroom, staring at a wall for so long that his eyes were beginning to burn, his brain refusing sleep to him.
On the other side of the bed, there was the sound of light and hesitant shuffling, but nothing else.
Cold sighed, gripping the pillow that he was clutching desperately to his chest with even more strength, as if it could actually replicate the touch that he was so used to.
"I'm sorry," Cold repeated, louder this time, and the shuffling grew louder as well, until it stopped as Paranoid spoke up, "You're not sorry."
"I am," Cold replied, feeling an urge to roll around and look Paranoid in the eyes, but he knew nothing good would come from that, nothing that Cold hasn't experienced before.
Cold wouldn't have considered himself an apologetic person, but then again, he also wouldn't have thought that he would actually feel something for someone else.
He couldn't believe that Paranoid was the one to keep Cold's attention for long enough that he began to grow attached to him.
Cold thought the fluttering feeling would go away once he realised how pointless emotions like that were, and it wasn't like Paranoid, of all people, would feel the same. He kept trying to ignore how much calmer and lighter everything felt when Paranoid walked into a room, or spoke to Cold about anything.
But it only got stronger, and Cold was experiencing emotions that were maddening and exhilarating at the same time, and he wasn't sure how he could possibly numb this type of attraction.
He didn't want to, was the simple answer. Cold didn't want to get rid of these feelings for Paranoid, and the memory of Paranoid almost breaking down at the sight of Cold falling gravely ill, was enough to let Cold know that some emotions didn't need to numbed, no matter how confusing they were.
Cold remembers Paranoid never leaving his side as he nursed him back to health, and the second that Cold had opened his eyes, Paranoid had leapt with joy, throwing his arms around him and rambling how he was scared that Cold wouldn't make it.
The only thing Cold really cared about from that day, was taking Paranoid's face in his hands and seeing if kissing him was as good as he imagined.
It was better.
But right now, Cold couldn't have imagined how awful he would feel in this moment.
"I wouldn't lie to you, darling- you know that." There was the faint sound of feathers bristling against the sheets, and Cold's lips twitched in amusement, at still having this effect on Paranoid even when they were fighting.
Cold didn't really care about petnames, but they evidently had an effect on Paranoid, so he liked to see those reactions whenever he could.
Paranoid sighed, sounding heavier than Cold wished. "I know that but-"
Cold waited for him to continue, but instead, he heard more aggressive rustling, feeling Paranoid squirm and inch away on the other side of the bed. "But I'm still mad at you, so I'm not ready to forgive."
The small kernel of hope quickly died within Cold, and he became more and more aware of how much he hated this situation.
Cold was used to silence. He was used to doing things solo. He was used to the others not really understanding or indulging in his interests. That was all fine by Cold. It was usually better that way.
Cold was used to being alone. But Cold was not used to being lonely.
He wasn't used to feeling this creeping darkness drowning him, making him feel so far away from the rest of the flock, even when he was physically next to them, and right now, even when they were barely five feet apart- Cold has never felt more lonely and lost.
He hugged the pillow to his body tighter, but it should've been Paranoid he was holding onto.
"My intentions are never to hurt you," Cold tried, and was met with a curt, "I know."
He sighed, burying his face into the pillow, imagining it was Paranoid's small but soft feathers, and with the scent of lavender that constantly followed the anxious bird.
"It's just-" Paranoid began, and then he sighed sharply, "I don't want you to think that I'm mad about you discovering something, because I'm not. I'm mad because you took it too far this time."
"How did I 'take it too far'?" Cold asked, a hint of annoyance in his voice, even if he knew that would only make things worse.
"Because you left for days!" Paranoid snapped, his voice getting dangerously loud for the middle of the night. "You left without a word and I had no idea where you were or if you were even safe!"
"I was looking for something," was Cold's explanation, one that didn't mean much to Paranoid, apparently.
"I don't care what weird thing you were looking for this time! You need to tell me!"
"Would it have changed anything?" Cold quietly asked, and Paranoid had no response for that.
Cold sighed again, wishing that this argument never happened in the first place. It was getting in the way of Cold feeling the emotions that he much preferred, along with filling his chest with a warmth that he hadn't known he needed.
"I'm sorry for yelling," Paranoid mumbled tiredly. "I'm sorry that we're fighting."
"We fight all the time," Cold pointed out, and it was true. Most of their time was spent discussing topics and trying to get the other to see their point of view. Other times, it was either Paranoid berating him for being reckless or getting hurt, or Cold scolding Paranoid for not telling him that he was about to have a panic attack.
"I know but I never like it," Paranoid said, and there was the sound of him wrapping the blankets closer to him. "I never like getting mad at the people I love, no matter how often it happens- especially not you."
Cold hummed in response. He would say that arguments were something he enjoyed getting into, but when it came to Paranoid, his chest began to ache at the thought of them, and their most recent one had been bad.
'You don't even care about how others will feel! Not even me!'
'Maybe you need to stop being such a smothering mother hen to me all the time.'
Usually Cold welcomed any and all emotions that caused something to shift within his heart, that gave him something new to feel. But this feeling-this feeling of frigid loneliness when his partner was physically right there-
Cold couldn't take it.
It was torture.
He looked down at the pillow he was holding. He was using a pillow as a substitute for where Paranoid should be in his arms. Was a fight really worth being this pathetic? Was it worth this distance and pain?
No, Cold decided.
Slowly, Cold lifted his head, looking over his shoulder to try and catch a glimpse of Paranoid-and his eyes widened in shock.
He had assumed that when Paranoid took the blankets, he had cocooned himself in them for comfort, like he usually did.
But Cold was surprised to see that instead, Paranoid had taken the blanket, rolled it up, and pressed it against his back-almost as if trying to replicate someone pressing up to him from behind.
"Love," Cold whispered, twisting around to face his partner. Paranoid flinched, before glancing over his shoulder, and his eyes immediately went to the pillow in Cold's grasp.
Their eyes locked.
Then the next thing they knew, they were scrambling and grabbing for each other.
Cold pulled Paranoid flush against him, sighing at the warmth he provided, as Paranoid frantically cupped his face and brought him into a desperate kiss.
Cold's entire body relaxed as he clung to Paranoid, tossing the pillow to the side. They kissed with an urgency, as if this was the last time that they would embrace like this. It reminded Cold of their first kiss.
When they separated, Paranoid kept his arms wrapped tight around Cold's neck. His feathers were a mess, and there was a wild spark in his eyes that Cold couldn't look away from.
Paranoid took a sharp breath in, ducking his head as he whispered, "I don't want to fight with you."
"I don't want to, either," Cold agreed, and then after a second or two, he nervously added, "I don't like how it makes me feel."
Paranoid sighed tiredly, then hugged Cold as if they had been lovers separated for years, and not two hours. He rested his head in the crook of Cold's neck, nuzzling into feathers that were constantly freezing, like they were the only thing to provide comfort to Paranoid.
Cold closed his eyes, focusing on the way that Paranoid felt, how his breathing evened out, and how all the tension left his body.
"I'm- sorry for worrying you," Cold said softly, his hands running up and down Paranoid's back. "I truly never like being the reason you panic so much."
"I know," Paranoid mumbled, then leaned back to look Cold in the eye. "I meant what I said though-I don't mind if you go off and look for whatever- I just wish you'd tell me so that I'm not just running around and losing my mind over where you are."
That was fair. Cold often forgot about the rest of the world when his mind fixated on one thing, but Paranoid had to be that exception. Not unless he wanted to feel that loneliness again.
"Or better yet, just ask me to come with you," Paranoid added, and that made Cold observe him in surprise.
"You would do that?" Cold asked, and Paranoid was confused for a moment, before Cold continued, "You would follow me to whatever dark corner of the world that I find myself in?"
Paranoid looked worried for a split second, before steely determination replaced it. "If it meant keeping you safe, yes. I'd follow you wherever."
A rush of excitement and warmth was bubbling up within him, along with a wicked grin that was reserved only for Paranoid's eyes, and he brought his love into another kiss, gently resting against the pillows, sighing as sleep finally began to catch up on them.
He gently laid Paranoid's head on his chest and whispered, "Then follow me into slumber, darling. I won't be far from you ever again."

Hori allow Katsuki to be a hero on his own challenge: impossible
Seriously why is it that when Bakugou doesn’t have Deku to focus, he drops down to hero rank 15. Didnt Hori try to force the idea that Bakugou sees Todoroki and the entire class as his rivals? So why is it that he can only get to the top five if Deku’s with him.
I can’t even say his debut was about him alone, because Hori made it clear that Bakugou is the main contributor to Deku’s hero suit, so I can even make the argument that his ranking was dependent on how he can fund that. Because Hori refuses to allow bakugou to be a hero on his own. So he has to find a way to tie everything about bakugou to Deku in some way.
I mean the story made kind of a messy explanation, but the way I understand it:
The ranking originally is composed of incident resolution rate, public approval and social contributions.
Hawks changed the formula in an unexplained way, but Deku was always in double digits even when he did no hero work whatsoever, so incident resolution rate must not be a very big factor.
Bakugou started out as sidekick to Best Jeanist (normally side kicks are not ranked)
After he went independent, he debuted at No 4 because he was very popular due to his fight with AFO in the war
He started to lose points on public approval (which again seems to have a HUGE weighting in the formula also considering how Hagakure jumped up after her accidental face reveal) due to his rude manners and potty mouth and slid down to 15 over a period of time.
His slide down the ranks is not linked to ability or incident resolution or work ethics, but purely PR reasons.
Deku gets his suit and re-debuts as active pro hero, working on weekends and after classes. His approval skyrockets as people talk about his past greatness and are hyped about his return. He jumps immediately to No 4 (to give him the same starting point Bakugo got when he entered the charts)
As Deku is in the spotlight, people inevitably bring back old footage of the war, talk about osanana, saving All Might, etc. Probably talk in interviews about the armored suit and Bakugou's role in the project. People are hyped seeing them together, so Bakugou's public approval rating suddenly goes up as well and he's jumping to No 5.
So basically, my point is, that nothing in the text of 430-431 or the fanbook says the nonsense that some people in fandom peddle - that Bakugou wasn't trying hard enough before. He's clearly frustrated with his ranking situation in 431. It's clearly stated it's not an ability or effort issue.
I can also imagine that between going independent/ working alone and being involved in the suit development, Katsuki got really stretched thin and stressed. Which actually would explain no filter / angry outbursts at citizens and journalists and PR nightmares. After the suit was done and Deku was back on the field, he could probably relax and have more time to take care of himself. Plus it says that team-ups play well into his image.
The only thing I cannot imagine is Bakugou EVER half-assing his hero work for whatever reason. That would destroy the fundamentals of his character.

sometimes jared makes me wonder if he’s watched the show or understands his character. his love of the finale is one of those things that triggers this. the finale was just bad.
i think he's pretty much always held a surface level understanding of sam and dean and holds to the simplistic notion that sam always wanted a "normal" life meanwhile dean was always 100% committed to hunting / dying on a hunt. and so he thinks the finale is totally logical and "in character" for both of them. and stuff he's said over the years, about sam ending being what "dean would have wanted" and then recently insisting that the job application in dean's room was somehow sam's just further shows me he really doesn't understand either character. sure dean would've liked knowing sam got to live a long life and have a family but i think dean would've been very sad to know sam completely turned his back on all their friends and seemingly stopped helping people (closing down the bunker) and went on to live a lie of a life (i sincerely doubt he told his family abt his hunting past beyond making sure they were protected). that's not the life dean would have wanted for sam! and then jared failing to even consider that the job app could be dean's? that dean could have wanted more beyond hunting? him thinking that anything abt the finale was "good" or a fitting end for these characters while jensen struggled with it and had to talk to multiple people to even be a little bit okay with it (and also make a whole spin-off to give dean SOME of his agency back) and even to this day is still expressing how much he hated dean's death just shows me the world of difference between the two of them.

ㅤ"So, not to be the one to point out the obvious, but Sheik didn't seem happy with your choice. In fact, he looked quite mad at us." Actually, Link could confidently say that it looked like the Sheikah stormed off. Didn't say much, just stared at them, and then vanished. Literally vanished. The only thing Sheik had left them with, was pointing out the fact he was not in the Sacred Realm. Didn't specify where he was, or what he was doing, just that he wasn't there. Which left the Hero of Time with more questions that answers, something that happened quite often between the two of them. Lacking answers, lacking an understanding, wishing things could make sense when they never will.
ㅤWhat he did understand was that Sheik wasn't physically with them. General observations could figure that out, but also the way he acted and vanished did. A projection of some sorts, but the kind that could interact with it's surroundings somehow. He's seen things like it with Phantom Ganon, but Ganon's power was supposed to be different than the Sheikahs.
ㅤWherever Sheik was and whatever he was doing wouldn't help with the current conversation though, just finding the direction that they needed to go. Since clearly the Hero of the Skies was determined to reach the end of this somehow.
Tumblr media
ㅤ"If Sheik doesn't want to leave then what's the point in attempting to force him?" He moved to the next platform with the other Hero but attempted to block his path. He wanted to have a conversation about this before they kept running on, especially when it seemed like he personally no longer had much of a reason for being here. Punching Sheik aside, he went looking for the Sheikah to make sure he was alright. For his own curiosity he wanted to see if the other actually remembered him and what happened, but also that this was something he was fine with. Sure, Link can't force Impa back into the Shadow Temple to free Sheik, but he would have tried his damndest to do something if the other was actually miserable.
ㅤNo matter how his journey went—he might not consider Sheik a friend friend, but he consider them at least friendly with each other. Some middle ground in all of that. A person he knew, that he cared about, who was somewhat helpful. Their relationship was complicated, but he would have still attempted to move the Golden Goddess themselves to make sure Sheik was alright.
ㅤHowever, based on the way that Sheik spoke, he was fine and content with his own choice. He wanted to be here in whatever way that was. He made his bed and now he was content to lay in it. That was how it sounded to Link and if that was the case, he and Sky have to accept that there isn't much they can actually do about this. They can't drag Sheik from the Shadow Temple, nor could they just remove a sage from their place of prayer. Both were impossible things.
ㅤNo matter what Sky actually wanted, someone had to be rational here. Which was apparently going to be him for some reason. "If Sheik will not leave Sky, then there isn't anything you can do. He told you, he made his choice, he is content to here. So what are we doing, really?"
Tumblr media
It hurts that Sheik simply rebuffs him and just seems so set on doing this when Sky is offering another option. Is it that he's just stubborn or that he thinks his Zelda would not be able to make something that would get Sheik out? Sky believes in her, if she hadn't been able to do something to help with the Sheikah before him then she would've simply told him instead of letting him leave to come here with false hope. He can get that Sheik doesn't know her so all he really has is the Chosen Hero's word. Sky's expression shutters into one of fierce determination even with how it hurts when Sheik had put distance between them.
"I'm not wasting my time and I'll face whatever I need to in order to reach the Sacred Realm," Sky told him as he glanced towards the two Beamos beyond the next jump, before it had been a Stalfos lying in wait, and looked back at the Sheikah. "If I have to cleanse Uyi again, then I will. Same if I had to go through countless hordes of monsters, I've done it before and I would do it again."
For you.
"I wasn't happy with my choice, even if it was the right one to go back to when I was from, Sheik," He adds after a moment, his now empty hands squeezing briefly into fists at his sides before forcing himself to relax. "Well, it's also my choice to come back for you."
Call Sky selfish, throughout his entire quest he was never selfish. But for this? For Sheik? What they have together? He would be selfish for him. They both had made a choice to let each other go that Zelda had told him sounded like a saying in one of the old books, if you love someone sometimes you have to let them go. Well, he had let the other go once and he wasn't doing it again. The knight simply wishes that Sheik could make a choice that had nothing to do with duty and instead was for his own happiness. He wishes now that he had looked at what Zelda had given him, she had simply kept him from uncovering it and told him he would know when to use it. If there was any moment for when he had to use it, then it would be when he reaches the Sacred Realm.
From everything he has learned from Sheik himself and what Link told him when they ran into each other in his home, the other was not happy. He did this for his mother to have the life she deserved. Well, in that same vein, doesn't Sheik deserve that too? The other may have had to do horrible things to maintain his cover, and once Link awakened, he did the best he could to keep Ganondorf from catching up with Link while secretly helping as much as he was allowed to.
Sky found that prophecy to be cruel, Sheik should have been allowed to help more than he had been. But with the way that Impa raised her son like a weapon and treated that Princess more like her own blood, there was nothing he could do. Sky had had help, not always but still. He had had Fi and later, during those two fights against the Imprisoned, he had had Groose helping him. Headmaster Gaepora helped where he could in small ways but enough to be able to give Sky a way forward to follow.

"Link," Sky said as he looked over at the Hero of Time who's item looked like it had seen better days. "Give me your hand, if you intend on continuing here with me then I need to make it so you're able to see the invisible things."
When Link did give him his hand, his own eyes glowed as he concentrated on making a tether that wasn't like the one he shared with Sheik. It wouldn't do to accidentally start gleaning what the other Hero is feeling. With himself and the Sheikah, that had been completely accidental. His magic reached for Link's that felt like cool grass and carefully weaved a small bond, one where Sky could channel his magic through it so he would be able to see it. With a glance towards the Hyrulean's face, he let out a pleased hum as he saw the same purple outline in the other's bright blue eyes.
"Done, don't go too far away from me or it's going to unravel and I'll need to do it again," Sky warned him as his blue eyes ceased their brilliant glow and he looked at the Beamos again. Taking out a bomb from his pouch, he tossed it over the gap when the guillotine's blade fell again. The explosion from his own bomb and the one bomb flower that had been sitting between the two enemies took both of them out.

hibiscia!!! Sorry if youve explained before but is there something specific about reset-remember fics that you hate? I don't really like them either but for me it's just because I feel like a lot of authors type sans in very ooc ways
They're completely antithetical to Sans' character arc for the sake of cheap and easy angst. The nature of his brand of cosmic horror isn't in reliving his life again and again, that's Flowey's. Sans knows OF the anomaly, knows that it's manipulating time and knows it's a threat to the entire universe, but he doesn't know how or why, because he doesn't remember.
And that's crucial! him being mostly in the dark in spite of the MANY warning signs about us... because it's in that doubt that he remains hopeful. YES we could potentially end the world... but what if we don't? yes we have unimaginable power over everyone else and we can bring back time, but what if we're just.... sad? he needs that gap in his knowledge so he can take a leap of faith across it, it's his entire character arc in the pacifist run. sans THINKS he's given up, he wants to have given up, he chose to do it because there's a comfort in that. in contenting yourself with good food and bad laughs. there's peace. but he hasn't given up, not really. on himself? maybe. but not in us.
there's no way to have that arc if he remembers resets.

you need to be his voice and hands. he needs to be your eyes and legs--and dick.
when you're hooking up on the reg but only just find out that the sex you've been having has been t4t all along lol
i keep calling them mirrors but like. what other more succinct way is there to describe it. recognition of the self through the other (derogatory). they could find companionship and understanding in each other but it's because their problems are so similar that they clash so hard. like adding fire to more fire. truly it requires some dire circumstances to get them to reveal themselves like that, and even then it's not their choice. tervantias accidental matchmaker of the millennium? and theodora for facilitating their meeting. wow. agents of love. and hatred. and every other incredibly complicated feeling in between.
relatedly, commorragh is also an essential part of the cosmas/heinrix relationship. like the scene you get when you don't take heinrix is a lot of fun but straight up whatever connection there is between them fails if they don't go through the horrors together. load bearing shared trauma. and you don't get to learn about his eye n stuff. sad! but also probably real and true, neither of them are opening up without this.
fkhglfg thank you for defending us misha nothing but respect for OUR TROOPS 🫡🫡
if i were an evil sadomasochistic elf i would have a human fetish i would be the most gay romanceable drukhari of them all
#also i am pulling the bisenhorn thing out of my ass and i know basically nothing about that entire series or the character i just think hes#cool and also a lil attractive
bisenhorn. bi-nrix. the proof is right there. sexy fanart of eisenhorn made me download the books so maybe ill get to them after uhhhh like 8 more gaunt's ghosts.
#fyi misha gets hella fucked over in that commissar incident#on one hand is extremely distrustful and assumes the worst. is rightfully very suspicious#however due to his background is wired to follow a commissar regardless. just another example of misha fucking himself and his retinue over
this and #commissar emmot hyde would give my imperial guard ocs strange awakenings for sure MISHA AND EMMOT CROSSOVER INCIDENT
i love the commissar in commorragh he's my special little scumbag... i want to call him by his first name all the time but im like. first i need to establish if whoever im talking to is on a first name basis with my beloved iako sotniy. GO MISHA FOLLOW YOUR CONDITIONING nothin g bad ever happens to the von valanciuses.
cosmas doesn't believe iako at all, but he also thinks he can use him. keyword thinks. iako ends up being the one using HIM and it makes him SO so mad but iako's comments about liking commorragh better than the imperium make him determined to drag the fucker back into realspace to kill him there, so he grits his teeth and plays along. really good if you also bring argenta cause then you can save vigastes n he adds to the iako haterism experience. minor npc win.
consider for me. my rarepair. this is my only piece of evidence i have nothing to say other than i was so shocked and surprised that ravor 1. got spare time and 2. made a friend.
