SMG34: LIPBITE COMIC WIP UPDATE

oh boy... i know a bunch of folks are hyped for this comic... and boy oh boy are ya'll's prayers going to be heard... kind of... butt for the celebration milestone, and granted majority are from this comic, i thought it was best to give EVERYTHING that i have currently.

starting off STRONG with what you freaks most want: the completed pages. andddd yep that's it that all that i have done LMAO. i've been fixated on my own smg4 oc: tsb, and during the end of my summer was unfortunately fucked over by some personal issues that fortunately got resolved last minute good grief the anxiety prevented me from drawing the gays sigh... aNYWAYS LINEART WIPS!!!!

here are linearts i have completed / in the progress of!! want to aim like i did in the past by finishing up lineart first, and then speed through with color + minor rendering. the reason i have a few colored is to test out what it would look polished and my god... i have improved A LOT. THESE GAY PEOPLE GIVE POWER I AM NOT KIDDING BELIEVE ME IM NOT CRAY- anyways onto wip pages!

jumpscare: tsb stickman sketches. oh yeah. this is how i sketch and i blame sensei eiichiro oda /j. and in case anyone is unable to understand it {i don't blame u LMAO}, smg4 wakes up from the dream and is startled to see mario by his bed. they have a short convo before mario leaves, and we get a job to smg4 in the bathroom trying to put up a brave face. until the moment he leaves he's stunned due to seeing smg3 at his front door. will i elaborate more on specifics or unwritten dialogue? NOPE! gotta keep secrets to make it even more enjoyable at the end!!

currently at 13 sketched pages total, but this is probably gonna be reaching towards 20-ish pages, surpassing part two, but it will depend on how i come up with how to end it. additionally to confirm there will be a PART FOUR / chapter 3, to end this story. my goal is to have it done before i finish my senior year, or at least during the summer after i graduate bc good lord who knows whats gonna happen.

I don't really have nothing of importance to say since i literally joined this community 3-4 days ago but i do want to point out that i have known about the Ranfren comics for a very long time and have always been drawn to it's artstyle and overall it's themes of absurd horror and surrealism. I always witnessed the fandom from afar since i myself was afraid to join it after being told that the fandom was terrible but the thing is, that was not at all true, at least in the tumblr community. Every single one of you is so talented and i really admire that even though all of you are from completely different countries and obviously live different lives, most of you manage to give a warm welcome to any newcomer that joins the community. I admire the fact that all of you are brave enought to be creative, to put your OC's out there and to interact with one another, it really amazed me how much wonderful lore everyone has made around their own original characters and i really like how everyone has found ways to incorporate a fragment of themselves into the Ranfren universe. So what if some think our art isn't the best, no matter how good you are there's always room for improvement and growth. So what if our headcanons aren't accurate, that's why it's a headcanon and not canon, what i am trying to get to is that the Ranfren community is full of true artists, full of people that create regardless of the quality of their art or the accuracy of the way they storytell, everyone is just trying to have fun and create and i think that is somehting that most of the art community in general has lost. So, let us all keep creating and improving and most importantly, let's learn while having fun. I love the Ranfren tumblr community, let us all get along!!<33

Yay! 🥳 Finally my young beauty's art is done! I waited for her for a long time and didn't touch my homework at all at weekends, only drawing her, because she was waiting too long for to be done.

I'm really proud of this art, because I am rarely adding shadow and even more rarely adding highlights(?), but I wanted to her look as pretty as possible!!! ☺️☺️☺️

Info:

Quan is a modest 20-year-old girl. Sadly such sweet girl was too nervous and didn't pass the most important exam in her life with the required scores. Because of this, she spent a year recovering, and then another year looking for any collage or university that would take her.

Fortunately (or unfortunately), she remembered how a guy named Xing that came to her school and advertised a university that belonged to Kutora. Back then she passed the competition, but because of the exam, she did not go to study. Quan found this university and, of course, she was accepted to study. Happy and relieved, Quan did not notice that by signing the documents she sold her soul. She found out about this much later, when Xing directly told her about it. To his surprise, she reacted completely calmly, as if it meant nothing.

Quan, despite the fact that Xing deceived her and millions other students about great studing conditions, she is always circling around him, admires and imitating him. She bought a formal blouse in the same color as his vest adn wears it everyday at university.

Quan studies quite well, despite the fact that she has been wasting time in vain for 2 years. But that's what her mother says. In fact, Quan was promoting her streamer channel.

Quan's mom is the heiress of the family business. Quan inherited such a long surname from her mother. Unfortunately, in the modern world, the flower shop suffers a lot from competition and other businesses. At the age of 6, Quan's parents divorced. According to the court, little Quan stayed with her mother, although she maintained a warmer relationship with her father.

Nowadays Quan's mother still devotes all her time only to business desperately trying to save it. She is quite She is indifferent to her daughter and does nothing but nag about study, job and social-medias. Quan's father works as a hairdresser. He is the one, who braided Quan her favorites dreadlocks. He always supports and helps his daughter. He was the one who inspired Quan to study and never give up.

Fast Facts:

Quan will be acquainted with Mei and Red Son. I mention this because my characters rarely interact with canon characters. (Time period after Season 4). Red Son will even craft her a unique suction gun 😋

Quan is a big fan of Mr. Bluewood. She follows all of his social media and watches most of the shows where he is presenter. However, this is precisely what pushes Xing away from her, because Xing has a bad relationship with his father. In the past, he also had a girlfriend, who, as it turned out later, only dated him for her father's money.

Quan likes to tie knots and knit. She tied her two belts herself.

Despite her modesty and naivety, Quan is very brave and confident. (Red son wouldn't craft her a gun if she wouldn't know how to use it 😏)

Mirror Arranad/TR Arranad Bio

Born in the Tarkatan village of Mireya, as the daughter of its leader, Sorak, and her Outworlder wife, Minerva. Her home village had always been considered fortunate among Tarkatans, managing to avoid the usual isolation of Tarkatan communities and establish important trade relations with other Outworld communities. On top of that, Arranad’s father had made a deal to incorporate Mireya in Onaga’s alliance, gaining his village important allies to protect themselves in case an external menace arrived, as was the case when the Edenian Regime started its ‘pacification’.

Arranad had been raised to become the future leader of her village, and in the still present Tarkatan warrior culture of Mireya, resulting in her becoming quite a brave and powerful soldier, always willing to defend her home village and world against the Edenian Regime and her allies and being quite successful in doing so. She was even admired by many soldiers among her allies in Onaga’s alliance, although she was initially uncomfortable working with many of them.

Arranad was fully aware of the harsh conditions of other Tarkatan villages which weren’t as fortunate as Mireya. Rejected, isolated, many times victims of generalization even if they were peaceful for the conflicts started by particular other particular villages. She worried for her people and tried to help them as much as she helped her home village, many times recommending them to establish trade relations with nearby communities, and even proposing some to join Onaga’s alliance, although the latter option was almost always rejected out of distrust. Knowing this, it was no wonder she felt uncomfortable and angry whenever some of the soldiers among Onaga’s alliance referred to her as ‘one of the good Tarkatans’ or ‘wished every Tarkatan was like her’. Luckily, she found an ideal group for her when she was invited to be part of Reiko’s Kahn Guard due to her achievements.

Reiko valued loyalty and dedication to Outworld and its people all the same, deep down wished to help everyone in his world, Tarkatans included. And his allies shared the same ideals. Arranad finally found her place among Onaga’s forces, being capable of forming many friendships, and a very special connection in the form of the Vampire Carmilla.

During their time fighting together, Arranad and Carmilla discovered they had the same objective apart from defending Outworld: helping their people, in Carmilla’s case by aiding Nitara’s rebellion against Vaeternus’ regime. They started admiring one another and helping each other in their missions. The time they spent with each other thanks to this allowed them to meet each other more deeply and form a bond that went beyond friendship. They are currently a happy couple, and building a world in which they can have a good future together is even more motivation for them to put their spirit in their cause.

Having achieved the rank of Commander in the Kahn Guard thanks to how valuable she has proven in battle, Arranad is one of General Reiko’s most prominent soldiers, ready to keep fighting against the Edenian Regime and its allies, and for a better future for Outworld.

Hello Luci, how did you guys decide it was random-ass ask time about what it seems ‘the fic’?? jsjsjkss  Most of the Original Characters in this fic were thought as ‘characters that actually have a mention in Guardian canon but we know nothing about’, see Lin Jing’s master who sent him to work with ZYL to improve his cultivation. So here’s a list:

Dao’an Shifu: Lin Jing’s and Zhao Yunlan’s master, the Old Monk, human but ancient - Lin Jing is supposed to be the only character who knows the master’s actual age, but this may or may not be true, as him and ZYL being the only canon characters that are Dao’an’s disciples also may or may not be true. Da Qing’s old friend. Plays a major role in the general plot, not a background character, even when he doesn’t have too long ‘screentime’. He and the whole monastery thing in general is a tribute to @sagittariusdarkarrow (I’ll talk more about him in the reply of another ask soon)

Cai Hong: the only monk to actually have a name and a role in the fic, despite the whole arc in the monastery… He’s around LJ’s and ZYL’s age and we can say they were a trio when they were younger (Da Qing was also there, so not actually a trio, I guess). He’s the monastery’s gardener, yet several monks take care of the gardens, Cai Hong has a special relationship with that. His love for plants was the primary bond he formed with ZYL. (Fun fact, all the three characters that have deep love for plants/abilities related to plants and nature in this fic - so this monk, Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan - are all tributes to beloved @fixaidea - her plant posts and one of her Guardian arts inspired this part of the story)

Wang-shushu: the food stall uncle. Appears in only one chapter (at least so far). The Longcheng University quartet (Cheng Xinyan, Shen Wei, Zhao Yunlan and Lin Jing), have some moments eating dumplings at his stall. Some homemade wine is involved.

Niuniu: Shen Wei’s cat. Although she used to be a canon character (I don’t know if that counts as ‘character’, but that exists in Guardian, so…) I can’t talk too much about her because it’s a lot of spoilers. She’s not brave but will try her best (and scare the hell out of people by accident) if Shen Wei is sad. I love her, I’m going to give Shen Wei this cat in other fics as well. Me and Deputy Chief @tazzy-ace have been dreaming of Shen Wei’s sweet lady for long, we didn’t know she’d become real in our co-written fic <3

Shen Wei's directors and monitors when he studied at Zhejiang University: bastards.

Some random ghosts and other potential dangerous whatever they are: needed annoyances. But highlight to the xiqigui that was the one who took part in an important scene for relationship development. (This is a qi-eater type of ghost, in case you’re wondering)

Bonus mention to Cheng Xinyan, even though she’s a canon character in the drama, she doesn’t exist in the novel and writing her for a novel-based fic felt very much like writing an OC - I made my efforts to keep her in character because she’s THE character from the drama that I love, but as everyone else, she was shaped by the plot. She’s a major character, things in the plot move because of her, Shen Wei takes decisions because of her. I repeat that I’m obsessed with Novel!Shen Wei + Cheng Xinyan friendship kjskjsjs

If one day I write the requested spin-off with teens Zhao Yunlan, Lin Jing and Cai Hong (+ Fat Cat) in the monastery, more monks will come, but for this fic I don’t think any other will show up.

Nora Gem - Stormbreaker and Divine Aberrant Paradox

Age: 28(?)

Level: 130 Storm Wizard

Personality: Brave, bold, impulsive, quickly and fiercely loyal, has an eye for detail, easily distractable by said detail

Status: Mostly human, mostly stable. Journeying through her home Spiral trying to find her way to the Arcanum without her World Keys... and without being found.

Story: I've told Nora's story plenty times over on this blog, but I shall tell it again. Nora is my main Wizard, who successfully quested through Arc 3 and became the Divine Paradox, though with a heavy toll to her emotional and mental health. The weight of being everything to the Spiral yet nothing but a bunch of epithets crushed her, with Sybil's prophecy (mis-heard or mis-repeated as "You are Nothing to fear") as the latent last straw that broke her back. She lashed out against the Chaos Heart, effectively undoing one of her last canon moments and releasing destructive aberrant magic across the Spiral, and fled to another dimension (my old OC universe, which is able to connect to multiple other fandoms) with her baby sister to get away from everything.

While in this getaway period, Nora crossed paths with Blake Thorburn (RP'ed by my friend @bad-pun-king), originally of the Pact fandom. Word had spread of the 'strange fairy and her child' who had moved in, and Blake sought her out for a chance to cure his humanity of the Abyss, a horrific semi-conscious plane of existence that wants nothing more than to consume and digest the universe and everyone in it. Nora, in all her kindness, helped Blake become human again, and as a result became a major target for the Abyss. This will become relevant later.

Eventually, Nora pulled herself together and remembered that her last moments in the Spiral were basically a catastrophic temper tantrum on the divine and international level. So Nora sought to... y'know... fix that. However, because of her meltdown, she was widely considered a dangerous vagabond, a hero who had gone bad and whose good reputation was tarnished (perhaps beyond repair). So, Nora had to be incredibly fickle with her savior'ing, unable to be the public figure she had once been. She wasn't even sure if even her old allies at the Arcanum would take her back.

Nora eventually revealed herself to the Arcanum (which now included her cousins?) while trying to save Karamelle from both the consequences of her own actions AND the predatory presence of the Abyss, which had become aware of the Spiral once she returned to it. Despite her best efforts and the help of her estranged friends, one monster from the Abyss ate her alive during the tumultuous battle for Karamelle.

Rather than dying, however, Nora fell into the Abyss, where its magic took root in her. She desperately tried to crawl her way out of the Abyss, with the help of the real actual Nothing that Sybil had originally seen and a jaded but hopeful monster who wanted to escape the Abyss with her.

Now Nora has made her way back to the Spiral, though with some scars (such as her left arm from the elbow down and her wings being replaced with living debris, and a constant hunger rivalled only by the Abyss itself) and incredibly out of tough. How long has it been since she'd fallen? Is the Arcanum still around? Is her family? Why is there talk of a second Spiral? And who's this new young voice in her head asking about wizardhood?

Many questions, but only one way to find out: questing solo, like old times.

Hey, can I see what your other Kirby ships look like?

Hahaha I'm going to be totally real, there really aren't a lot of other Kirby ships I actively think about other than metadede-!! -u-'

I don't know what it is, but that particular ship just happened to scratch an itch in my brain I didn't know I had lol. And I only really started shipping it around a year and a half ago! A King and a knight who have worked together through the ages and both have really interesting and different personalities and likes and dislikes... I have a lot of fun with them! I never thought I'd ever gain the confidence to regularly produce and share ship content on any platform. So I was happily surprised and grateful to find a little corner on the internet here to share my thoughts on them with willing readers haha.

Other than that.... I don't have a strict list of ships I stick to! I feel like I keep saying this kind of thing, but in most cases I get more enjoyment seeing other people's interpretations of ships more than producing them myself! The Kirby universe is rich with characters and a wonderful space to explore character interactions and relationships with each other (platonic or romantic or otherwise!)

I mean, I know everyone interprets Kirby character ages differently which is also cool and all! I just have my own set of established headcanons that I've been slowly cultivating since I got introduced to the series 15 or so years ago.

I personally see characters like Kirby, Bandee, the other Waddle Dees, Ribbon, Adeleine, Gooey, Prince Fluff, Elfilin, etc. as children. They're powerful and brave and very unique from each other, but still kids in my eyes.

And then there's the characters like Dedede, Meta Knight, Queen Ripple, Daroach, Hyness, etc. that are characterized definitively as adults. And other characters like Magolor, Taranza, Susie, the Mage Sisters, etc. that might be interpreted differently by different people, at least from what I have personally seen! (But I see them as adults, personally)

Again this is all my personal opinion haha. I quietly stay away from ships that mix characters from my personal child and adult categories above- (which are not exhaustive lists because this post would be ten million words if I tried to list every single Kirby character, and are my personal characterizations and not me trying to impose my views as the one, canon interpretation!).

OC x Canon is also enjoyable in my book as long as the ages and dynamics are appropriate and consensual for both parties :)

And I don't need or want to make a list of everything I stay away from or anything. I don't feel that strongly about it. I guess my biggest personal example is that if someone ships Metakirby or Dedekirby (or their respective mirror versions), I'm not going to enjoy or support that no matter what their creator's justifications/reasonings for shipping those are. I'm just going to stay away from that ardently.

Anyway, I'm not trying to be controversial or say my opinion is fact either! These are just my personal thoughts and feelings and I curate my internet experience accordingly. My interests change all the time, I just enjoy seeing character interactions and stories written with love and passion!

....If I had to pick another ship that I like thinking about, I guess I'd pick Magoranza. It's fun to think about how they'd interact with each other, and sometimes I like to think of Magolor and Taranza as Garak and Bashir from Star Trek hehehe.

TL;DR: At the time of writing this post I only like creating metadede content for Kirby ships but I quietly enjoy a variety of other people's ships.

YEAH!

Well Bullet (the red guy in the bottom left corner) isn’t so much actively in Be Brave but he’s still technically canon to it. He’s a big part of the Flippy backstory that @ickyguts has written and im pretty much in love with it so it’s canon to me ^w^

Kyle the Mononykus and Splash (the lil mint colored Dino and the purple plesiosaur) are part of the overall Be Brave story but they are only alive during the Dino-Sore Days timeline. I mean…mass extinctions are pretty rough. But they were very close pals to Cro during those days and have had their own run ins with the trio before the meteor hit. You may see them in the main timeline but they will be fossils hehe

Nergal has a particular dislike for Kyle since he’s the one who gave Nergal his lip scar. ;)

Abigail, Lydia, and Aaron (the lil kid rat at the top, the blue girl rat and the yellow goat at the bottom right) are also significant to the story but they are only really around for the 300 year Colony. They did not survive past it. Lydia is John’s sister and Abigail’s mother. Aaron is Abigail’s father and Lydia’s husband. They were all important and active parts of John’s family.

There are other ocs too that are a part of this universe. We are always fleshing out the entire world and history and it’s constantly growing and taking shape, I’ll have to do an update on it soon. It’s become a HUGE thing and writing it in dms with your friends is one thing but making easily digestible content to present publicly is a whole ‘nother beast entirely. Slowly but surely <3

Did I fucking write an entire list of births for marvel character for my AU? Yes, I did, because I have a thing for list and numbers and timelines.

Well, here we go. The birth dates are based purely on their first appearance, the stories they are in, and to make sense of thir physical age (like, why Kitty Pryde still looks so young after so many years), with some canon birthdays, like Cannonball's. I don't really have nothing of importance to say since i literally joined this community 3-4 days ago but i do want to point out that i have known about the Ranfren comics for a very long time and have always been drawn to it's artstyle and overall it's themes of absurd horror and surrealism. I always witnessed the fandom from afar since i myself was afraid to join it after being told that the fandom was terrible but the thing is, that was not at all true, at least in the tumblr community. Every single one of you is so talented and i really admire that even though all of you are from completely different countries and obviously live different lives, most of you manage to give a warm welcome to any newcomer that joins the community. I admire the fact that all of you are brave enought to be creative, to put your OC's out there and to interact with one another, it really amazed me how much wonderful lore everyone has made around their own original characters and i really like how everyone has found ways to incorporate a fragment of themselves into the Ranfren universe. So what if some think our art isn't the best, no matter how good you are there's always room for improvement and growth. So what if our headcanons aren't accurate, that's why it's a headcanon and not canon, what i am trying to get to is that the Ranfren community is full of true artists, full of people that create regardless of the quality of their art or the accuracy of the way they storytell, everyone is just trying to have fun and crate and i think that is somehting that most of the art community in general has lost. anyway:

all the young dudes by mskingbean89 (completed, 527k words, wolfstar & jily): this is THE marauders fic for most ppl, and i just think of it as what happened canonically. no fic is perfect, but this should be every1’s first marauders era fic imo (you might’ve read this already cuz it’s SO popular). its from remus’ pov and it follows him throughout hogwarts and until (i think) poa or ootp

the wolf’s tail by myheadsgonenumb (wip, 457k words, no ships yet but prob wolfstar & jily): this one’s pretty underrated imo, and it’s SO WELL WRITTEN!!! this also follows remus throughout hogwarts. however id say the diff between this and atyd is that (so far at least) it focuses more on the war side of the marauders era, even when they are still young and at hogwarts. so if you’re interested in how actually dark and dangerous the times were back then, even for children, you will like this one! the only thing ill say for this is that its kinda very descriptive at points (ex. there’s a lot of newspaper clippings, book quotes, interview transcripts etc) but you can just gloss over them if you think they’re not that important. rn i think their 5th year just started, so keep that in mind (its gonna be a long one)!

the cadence of part-time poets by motswolo (completed, 980k words, wolfstar & jily): AAAAAAHHHH this one is my ALL TIME FAV (marauders era) FIC <33333 this is a muggle au, so no magic! this is also a remus pov (😭) and he goes to hawkings (which is basically hogwarts) in his (i think??) 4th year? or younger? smt like that :,). this fic also has my fav oc (tomny) hehe. as the tags say, its a band fic/au, but i’ll spoil no more!

the making of the map by fox_pitch (completed, 79k words, wolfstar & jily): this is a shorter one, but its also rlyyy good. pretty sure this starts and ends in their sixth year, but as the title suggests, its how the marauders map come to exist! its also how wolfstar gets together and its very cute and wholesome. the ending is kinda ambiguous in the sense that it doesn’t give any hints as to if anything changes in this fic’s universe’s future, but id assume not.

choices by messermoon (completed, 624k words, jegulus, wolfstar & jily): i kinda assumed you wanted the “canon” ships (aka jily and wolfstar) but if you’re interested in jegulus (james potter/regulus black) then this one is prob for you. i personally haven’t finished this fic, but ik its a jegulus classic/canon, just like atyd is for jily (& wolfstar). this one follows james, and it doesn’t start on his first year i think. it has alternating povs as well! however, as the tags warn, it is canon compliant, aka reg dies in the end, so do w that what you will :,)

only the brave by solmussa (completed, 646k words, jegulus, wolfstar, dorlene, rosekiller & pandalily): this is another jegulus fic! it has started being considered a classic and if you read it, you’ll understand why. this also does not start from their first year, and this one also has alternating povs! i love the writing and just general concept/plot of this one; i don’t love jegulus but i was still HOOKED w this fic, so yes. its rly good. and as you can see w the tags, this is a happy ending (aka, reg lives)!!!!! mwah love those.

art heist, baby! by otrbs (completed, 219k words, jegulus, wolfstar, dorlene, alice/frank longbottom - idk their ship name): i also have not read this fic, but ive only heard good things about it (and some sobs but that’s what you get for “major character death” : ) )! i know the ending of it tho, and it is kinda sad, so prepare yourself. it is a muggle au, and they basically wanna pull an art heist? yup lets go w that simple explanation.
