I’m so far down the SNAP rabbit hole I’m now interested in the fictional tv show in a fictional transformers continuity

Anyways, what kind of media is As The Kitchen Sinks? Who’s Thundercracker’s favourite character? Will he ever get his friends interested in the show?

ofc there's no real substance to it in canon, we only get that single bit in G1, so i completely made up everything except the title for SNAP! ATKS is kinda an in-universe species swapped standin for the role that actual the Transformers franchise plays? it's a much smaller franchise with far fewer tie-ins, but it has the same feel as the 80's cartoon. i could also compare it to iCarly, Wander Over Yonder, or the animated Barbie movies/show. it's an animated show, mostly for nymphs/younglings, following a broad, wacky cast of organics from a fictional species (that are uncannily similar to humans! but not actually humans, i am doing other things with humans in this universe) in a more episodic dilemma-of-the-day simplified soap opera plot structure rather than an overarching story with a specific climax to reach. there's a few smaller spinoff cartoons, a good chunk of comics, probably a couple novels, games, and direct-to-TV movies? a broad selection of toys and merch also. smallish but ongoing and respectable franchise with decent sized fandom

while it's similar in tone, it's not a one-to-one equivalent of Transformers, or any Earth media. Cybertron has a very different media/entertainment culture than humans do and their genres, production methods, and publishing forces don't act the same way (don't ask me to elaborate on this, i have nothing solid beyond "their civilization has been digital, interconnected, and interplanetary from the start, unlike our extremely recent information age, which would have shaped their media industry tremendously"). it's part of a general genre of specbio organic fiction, which is distinct from extant organic fiction (usually concerning actual organic aliens Cybertron once encountered, or their local organic lifeforms). a critical eye would note that this genre is usually infantilizing, demeaning, dismissive, or otherwise condescending about organic life, with an underlying attitude that they are simply inferior, stupider, incapable, etc in comparison to mecha. subtle and often unintentional propaganda wound up in otherwise average entertainment, despite the current absence of any known organic contact with Cybertron

resident nerd Thundercracker is something of a weeb for the very concept of organics, largely due to this show. TC's favorite character would be his OC, Buster, who is a "dog", a species he very carefully designed to plausibly fit into the world of ATKS, and who is absolutely the Mary Sue protagonist of his novel-length fanfiction. the Sweeps are modeled directly after Buster and Galvatron had to thump him a couple times to prevent Scourge from actually calling them that, because basic infosec even about ur OC could be the thing that keeps your secret identity safe. if he had to pick a favorite ATKS character, it would be a close tie between a cute little genius who gets around on wheels (Chip Chase standin) and a determined spitfire warrior he's written as one of Buster's best friends (Marissa Faireborn standin). his siblings and Megatron are pretty tired of hearing about ATKS, but now he's got a buncha new folks to preach to at the JAAT! folks like Powerglide simply cannot resist!

note that i'm never going to draw what ATKS looks like, or actually name the characters, etc. it's supposed to be a wink at the audience, a meta reference to canon Transformers humans without actually being them. enough that someone can go "is TC talking about Agent Fowler???" but never confirming it. mostly bc i don't want to figure out how mecha would perceive and design organic characters, and also i don't want to preclude using those human characters for real after SNAP's plot is done. Earth might be out there in the big wide universe, i don't want to confirm it only exists as the setting of ATKS and nerf myself that way

POV: you are watching a small streamer play COD when Megatron A.K.A the former leader of the Deceptacons joins the lobby and tells the kid to go do his homework and that's it's a school night so he shouldn't be streaming while destroying him in game, then the kid yells for his mom to go tell Megatron to leave his lobby but the kid's mom just laughed and him that he was on his own while talking to Megatron like he was an old friend and from the outside a female voice that you could barely hear coming from possibly the window asking if that was Uncle Meg she was hearing, all while Megatron himself was laughing like a maniac. Now you the viewer has to live with the fact that out there in the world there's some kid whose mom is friends with Megatron and lives with his possible niece.

lol possible! get some of those 10ft phone charger cables as noodles and sluuuuuurp for like a minute straight. kind of difficult since they're not as good as producing suction with their mouths as humans/mammals in general are (don't have the same cheek structure... or elastic facial structure in general. or direct "airway" connection to mouth)

well. i guess? sounds like the stupid kind of thing Hot Rod would do. they'd still have to be careful ofc, they can still damage their internals doing this, and torn up fuel lines and pipes is not fun. the other consideration with this and also the long noodles is making sure nothing of size sticks so it doesn't shatter/tangle/spread during transformation, in which the digestive tracks are often scrambled around a bit. could result in a particularly nasty way to trigger entrapment protocols

to be clear this is an uncommon issue that's most often solved with little effort. but freak accidents can always happen

i think a combination of the two? if it's large enough and they're careful enough they can just stick something down their throat to dislodge it (they don't have to breathe, remember). otherwise it's likely to get carried down by their next meal. the nanites breaking it down would more likely be self-repair nanites, as it would be acting as a foreign body to be chipped away and removed, but could probably still end up in use by the frame. a mech's forges and tanks do a lot of breaking down, sorting, reprocessing/forging, etc, so raw materials can be recreated into frame-specific useful things, but some raw materials (esp metals) are just sort of automatically useful as is and can be worked into the frame by self repair without "digestion" first

Fun Cybertron Game: Ener-Pong.

Basically it's like beer pong but instead of beer and a ping-pong ball it's glasses of Energon (can be any kind) and a circular frozen hydraulic oil cube.

now i feel like this is either a game for very cold places, or a game you need to play quickly before the ball melts. assuming you CAN get a ball frozen solid?? considering i don't think hydraulic oil actually freezes solid like water would, just becomes more and more viscous. i think that's true for most oils. i doubt it would bounce well??

Regarding your Cybertronian food posts. How would the food exactly be made. And is it possible for the bots to make some simple meals on Earth?

for most of the food, unless there's a process/origin written about in the description, i don't really think super much about the specifics of how they'd be made, bc tbh it would all be handwaving to fit the pastiche of this story. all of the food i've drawn is in the context of SNAP, my fan canon, which is a magical girl anime and thus pretty explicitly ripping off a lot of very human tropes, settings, and cultural -isms, including recognizable food. there's a reason my first food drawing was of an average cafeteria meal, i wanted to figure out what all my schoolkid protags would be eating!

so my answer is probably just "take human cooking processes and make them sci-fi + sprinkle in Cybertronian tech and terms + add vaguely realistic facts about the materials they're eating". eg, i would feel comfortable describing Maccadam as baking a cake, even tho "cake" and "baking" would both be pretty different from human normal, just coz that's the vibe i'm going for

that said. if any of you would like to use some of my foodstuffs in your own fic/art and come up with a cooking process for it, i'd be thrilled to see! SNAP's story doesn't actually go to Earth, so it would wildly depend on the continuity if they could make this food there. i'd imagine the fruit/vegetables i've drawn certainly wouldn't be available on Earth since they come from Cybertronian plants

Species Idea: Aquatrons.

Basically the Cybertronian equivalent of Merfolk and Sirens from Odysseus that can hypnotize other Cybertronians with their voice.

Also, for some reason I keep headcanoning Knock Out as an Aquatron purely because of his IDW and TFP designs with some parts of him reminds me of fish fins.

i feel like merformers enthusiasts should use this concept, or at least use the planet of Aquatron more

at the moment botbots aren't something i'm planning on using wholesale, they're just so disconnected from the kind of lore/worldbuilding and tone i'm using that it makes it difficult to fit in. that said i DO want to include an easter egg character named Steve who works in accounting :3 that's the only reference to botbots i have for now but it's one i've been meaning to include literally forever
