So I Saw This Costume...
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein / Helena Bonham Carter as Elizabeth Lavenza
Elizabeth wears this gown to a dance held in honor of Victor Frankenstein going off to study at the university, a scene which takes place in 1789. The front of the gown is embroidered with flowers, leaves, and what appears to be wheat. We can see in the bottom photo that the embroidery continues around the back.
Frock Flicks did a great writeup of the costumes for this film, which were designed by James Acheson. I borrowed several of their photos, in fact!

I rewatched P&P during my Halloween crafting and I forgot how much I loved this part
Elizabeth: It is possible for a woman to be settled too near their family...
Darcy: Yes, exactly. You would not wish to be always near Longbourn.

Hey, if you do crafts (especially things like crochet, knitting, embroidery, etc), make sure to look up how to identify when a listing is AI generated. You do NOT want to waste money on an incredible looking kit or pattern that is physically impossible to make, especially if you're on sites like etsy hoping to support an actual artist.

COLLAR IS DONE AAHHHH, so I had to do a side by side with the game model!
Almost 50 hours of actual embroidery, plus roughly another 10 for the border stitching details, all done by hand. Whew! But look at it, I’m so damn proud!
I hadn’t initially planned on lining this, but now I think I will for a more finished feel. So that’s next, then sewing up the sleeves/sides, and then it’s back to embroidery hell for the hem xD And in the meantime, I need to get back to the stitching details on the trousers, because I can only do a little of that at a time before my hands start screaming at me.

@alberichfanpage mentioned that Freyja talks about Jerren but even if we had the option to ask Ansbach about Varre, I’d imagine we’d get something like this

One Dress a Day Challenge
November: Oscar Winners
Moulin Rouge / Nicole Kidman as Satine
Year: 2001
Designers: Catherine Martin and Angus Strathie
Like the so-called "Hindi Wedding Dress," this is a costume for a play-within-a-play. Since the costumes for this movie are already very stylized and flashy, it must have been a challenge for the designers to make these costumes look even more theatrical. Hence the fantasy headpiece--and if you told me this one was also based on the Australian frilled lizard, I would find that completely believable.

Something incredibly satisfying about knowing your craft and the confidence that goes with it. Just the casual “yeah I could make that”. Want a band tee? Yeah I can embroider my own with the lyrics I want. Bridesmaid dress too long? Yeah I can hem it. Need new slippers? Yeah I can crochet a pair (and give them bunny ears). And of course it’s not perfect but nothing beats that feeling of being able to craft your own solution with your own two hands

... You know what, having to figure out the embroidery patterns for Tolkien related embroidery makes me feel feral.
If I was an Elven maid, tasked with sewing all those bloody stars on the heraldry banners I would be asking for a compensation equaling my weight in fucking GOLD.
"Yes, my Lord, I will sew these stars all over, but IF I AM NOT GETTING MY WEIGHT IN GOLD and *Insert Elvish king/prince she has a crush on* as my SPOUSE you are gonna go into battle with barely threaded banners and Morgoth will LAUGH at you all".
