vargr in my lore are a species and few and far between , specifically wolves directly descended from fenrir’s bloodline. currently there are only four *known vargr : fenrir , hati , sköll and lira.
Tumblr media
in my research all definitions of the word have primarily included references to fenrir and co. ( even though there are many other formidable wolves in norse myth , many of whom were used as mounts / pets. we'll get into that ted talk another time. none ever rivaled fenrir , that's the main reason why he's so feared. ) it also holds negative connotation ( evildoer , destroyer ) which is fitting — if you know , you know. it's more retribution than it is true evil in my opinion but i digress. that definition is specifically why i chose to commandeer the term for my own backstory.
although there are other species of ** wolf adjacent creatures in jarnvidr , likely more nightmarish in appearance given the járnviðjur ( giantesses / troll wives ) who birth them — i don't see that number being all that high. wolf packs with the resources to exist in large number are usually made up of around 12- 15, i see it realistically being closer to ten or so, and that’s me lumping all the sub species together including their offspring. there may have been a time where that number was greater , but because of odin's increased paranoia regarding wolves , those from the same place of origin as fenrir especially , that number greatly dwindled.
fenrir was the first wolf born in jarnvidr , and because of this remains the largest and most powerful of them all. his brood naturally following suit. there’s something in angrboda’s blood that needs to be acknowledged. she’s not only the chieftain of jarnvidr , but the original mother of monsters. it’s not all loki , although he’s definitely present and accounted for.
* there could be other children out in the realms protected the very same way lira was. i like the idea of sköll having children of his own someday and lira possibly having an older sibling or two that she's never met , more than likely because they were a casualty of the war against the jotunn. she's the baby so there could have been others before her , but as far as lira knows there are only four in existence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
** i really need to emphasize that no two creatures who inhabit these woods are alike. when i say wolf adjacent i mean something that might resemble a wolf in some aspects , but is still different than any other wolf encountered in any realm. the ironwood is made up of entirely unique monsters --- if two creatures happen to be compatible enough to procreate there's no way to know what sort of offspring will come of their union. further continuing the cycle of one of a kind entities populating the forest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
moder , pictured above , in the movie the ritual ( which i highly recommend everyone watch ) is the perfect example of this. she's the jotunn daughter of loki and * insert someone here , more than likely angrboda given her track record of birthing nightmare fuel * she isn't what one would expect to come from two seemingly normal humanoid beings. i'm married to the idea of everything born in the ironwood existing in a category all their own , even if ( as mentioned above ) they appear to have qualities that closely resemble an animal , like a wolf or an elk. this rarity makes it difficult to label other creatures , but it's on brand with the peculiarity of these woods as a whole. it's actually kind of funny because of all the abominations birthed in this place , fenrir and his family are seemingly the most normal in appearance.

"I was aiming low anyway." She chuckled and rested her head on her hand, elbow propped up on the wooden island, "I don't know that 11 kids in fifteen hundred years constitutes hoe behaviour.. Some humans have that many in the span of twenty years!"
"Well, you can't hit all of them." Emrys grinned and popped some ice cream jnto his mouth. "It is not my fault that dads a hoe."

What your myth! Loki ship says about you:
⚠ Just a heads up! I am doing this for fun and to see if I understand our community right! I'm by no means trying to hate on anyone who actually ship these things! Ships have just..always been so interesting to me, and I thought it would be fun. Did I forget someone? Please let me know! ^^
Tumblr media
Loki + Sigyn = You can't get over how tragic yet passionate their love is. After all it's the only thing we have of them together and somehow it makes the message of loyalty and compassion between lovers even stronger.
Loki + Angrboda = Either you're here for the tragedy that was their love, what could've been if only Odin didn't take away their children.. or you love the tall witch wife and small gremlin husband dynamic (me too :3)
Angrboda + Loki + Sigyn = You're tired of seeing the wives being pinned up against each other, heck it isn't even cannon to the mythology. You just want to see them all happy together while kissing. They deserve their polycule!
Loki + Gullveig = You don't actually ship them but if they had a relationship, it would be something along the lines of: one night stand parents trying to do what's best for their baby. Or you think Gullveig is actually Angrboda! 👍✨
Loki + Glut = You thought Loki and Logi were the same person. Now you either regret it and feel bad for believing in it or stick by it wholeheartedly. 🔥
Loki + Hoenir = Want to kiss your homies good night? Friends to lovers is your thing or you're there for the possible angst of letting a young lover go because it was never meant to be. 😔
Loki + Odin = You thought they could go deeper than being just blood brothers, didn't you? Ohh..the angst and pain you put yourself through for them.
Loki + Heimdall = You're torn between the fact they don't actually have to hate each other vs the way they clearly have a love/hate relationship + obvious tension. If they ever fought in front of you, you'd probably shout inappropriate things at them. 🤨
Loki + Svadilfari = You try everything In your power to forget what really happened between these two and tried to fix the story for the better..💀
Loki + Thor = Let me guess, the reason you like this is because of Marvel? If not you have a thing for the bratty twinks and their giant straight boyfriends that haven't realized he is bisexual yet.
Loki + Baldr = You either stand by the headcannona that Loki killed Baldr because he loves him (one-sided or not) and tried to protect him from Ragnarok. Or you have the "I hate straight people so I'll force these two to date even though they don't go well together." mentality. No, there isn't anything in between for you. 😭
Loki + Hodr = For some reason you just had to see the potential angst between these two! You love the dramatic storytelling of being betrayed by your lover, making you do their dirty work! You poor being, what happened?
Loki + Sif = Possible exses? Secret affair? You live for the drama and desperately want to know what happened between these two.
Loki + (potential) farmer man = You wish we had more good representation of Loki being with a another man. (I agree!) So when Odin accused Loki of being a milkmaid and having children, it opend a whole new world to inspire you!
Loki + Skadi = The lokasenna was enough for you to decide they totally dated in the past. Also you love spiteful exses that will threaten to kill your children if they don't shut up…😨(spoiler: Loki didn't shut up)
Loki + Zisa = I don't know why you'd ship them If their "affair child" was supposed to be a secret but I guess you're into the drama. Anyways Zisa isn't real..she can't hurt me. 😌

Loki Children Headcannons
Disclaimer: probably obvious from the fact I am talking about his children, but this is myth Loki, not Marvel’s bastardisation.
Sleipnir
Sleipnir is the eldest and is non-binary (he/they).
They are capable of taking on a human form and, when they do, they act like a diva who drinks way too much and complains about Odin using him as a steed.
If they existed in the modern day, they would absolutely dress like a young woman in the 30s – shawl and all.
Out of all the siblings, he is somehow the one with the highest alcohol tolerance.
Loki struggled at first to bond with Sleipnir because they were born out of r*pe (depending on how you interpret the only source we actually have on his conception, it could be seen as consensual or not. I personally think it was supposed to be non-consensual but, because the author was Christian, was vague about it).
Hel
Her dead side is only mildly blue and bruised looking like a fresh corpse when she is happy. It becomes more grotesque the angrier she gets. She becomes a full-on skeleton on that side when she is furious.
Hel is a lesbian and occasionally dates some of the women who die and come to Helheim but doesn’t have a consistent partner.
She is the youngest of all her siblings but ends up acting like the eldest because the only place they can reunite is in Helheim after Ragnarök where she is queen.
Loki, Sigyn and Angrboda still baby her though. She will never admit to secretly liking it. At least, not in front of her siblings.
Narfi
He is trans. I don’t know why, it's just vibes.
He is the elder of him and Vali.
He is studious and generally much softer and nicer compared to Vali.
He is a user of seidr (Norse magic) which he learnt from Loki and even Sigyn a bit. This made him a target of teasing as a child since seidr is a girl's thing.
He has his mother’s dark hair and darker skin with Loki’s green eyes.
Vali
He is gay but started off with a lot of internalised homophobia because he was teased for being the child of Loki, a notorious genderfluid in a culture that saw feminine men as a bad thing, and became unwilling to accept what could make him seem like a girl.
He is a warrior and is prone to rash decisions, making him a lot like Loki.
Vali and Loki have a bit of a difficult relationship since Vali is a mama’s boy but he is so similar to Loki in many ways (which a large part of him hates but the rest of him can’t help but love).
He is very muscular with Loki’s red hair and Sigyn’s black eyes. He has a long beard with he braids and decorates with Narfi’s help.
Jörmungandr
His first word was “Ssssssnack!”
He used to either curl up in front of the fire, against Fenrir or in Hel or Loki’s laps. Those memories are the only thing staving off his pain from being a land serpent in the cold depths of the ocean.
He and Fenrir used to get into play fights all the time as a pup and hatchling and someone would always end up having to break them up before they broke something.
He can speak in human tongue, but not nearly as well as Fenrir. He is also the only non-human child of Loki who can’t take a human form.
Fenrir
He is a cuddly teddy bear and used to sleep curled up in bed with one of his siblings or Loki, Angrboda or Sigyn.
He was the gentlest of his siblings before being chained up. Even after that, he remained shockingly kind but became very protective over his family as a result.
He has black fur with an almost purplish tinge and bright yellow eyes.
He is able to change his size, going from normal wolf to “able to eat the sun and moon” big.
He has a human form with long, thick black hair, sideburns and the same eerie yellow eyes.

LET ANGRBODA AND SIGYN BE THEIR OWN GODDESSES (and their children be their own too.)
STOP MAKING IT ANGRBODA VS SIGYN or FENRIR, JORY, HEL VS VALI and NARFI!
It's because of things like this that we can't have nice things. Stop pitting them against each other! Angrboda and Sigyn are both wives of Loki, accept it, but please stop discrediting their stories with each other and their children, trying to make one more valid over the other. They are all equally valid and heartbreaking. We need better representation for ALL of Loki's Kin, not more division. Be better.

Note
Do you have any sources about Loki eating Angrboda's heart loki ate heart and becoming pregnant with their children? I have been seeing the Gullveig=Angrboda a lot lately, and I wanted to know if it's true.
Man it's been a hot minute. I don't have any sources off the top of my head, but I think it might be original to the Prose Edda? Don't quote me on that.
What I CAN tell you is that correlation between Gullveig and Angrboda is speculative. We (Americans) have a very obnoxious habit when it comes to how we handle the stories of the Norse gods; we try to fit them all into a cohesive, orderly narrative plotline.
Gullveig's identity is often questioned because she only appears once throughout the whole arc of mythology—briefly, and spectacularly, in the first act. She's never mentioned at any point after, hence people's determination to equate her with a figure who is. Chekhov's gun compels us.
What we tend to forget is that the stories of the Norse gods don't represent chapters in a greater, uniform canon of mythology. They're samplings of regional folktales, the likes of which are transmitted orally and not in any particular order. The only reason why these tales are compiled episodically in books is because that's how books work.
I've seen people try to equate Gullveig with the unnamed Seeress in Voluspa; the Seeress with Freyja; Gullveig with Freyja; Angrboda with the Seeress; and now Gullveig with Angrboda. I think it's because they're all known for witchcraft?
Anyway, I'll leave it to readers and followers who are in-the-know to give more specifics on the story itself.

Loki is the Norse god of mischief, and the hard cold truth, even tho he may be cold, he is wise, and charming in many ways.
I use resources, I do not own the info, and most deep dives have UPG (that I use in my work.) And I only take some information from sources. I am 14, this is my hobby, I am learning but I spent many hours and days on this, and I am always open to criticism. I have been doing worship for 5 years. HOW TO INVOKE FENRIR:
Start by setting out an altar and dedicating it to Fenrir. This can be as simple or elaborate as you like, but it's important to have a specific space reserved solely for him. Offer a prayer to him, and make sure to be genuine and sincere. Show humility and appreciation for his wisdom and guidance. Leave an offering that is meaningful to you, such as a piece of jewelry, food, or drink. Make it genuine and personal. Meditate on his energy and try to connect with his presence. Read up on his myths and legends, or research his associations and symbols, and finally, be mindful of your behaviour and ensure that you are acting with respect and reverence toward him.
PRAYER FOR FENRIR:
“Great Fenrir, guardian of the Underworld, destroyer of all things, I call upon you to guide me in this journey of self-discovery and transformation. I seek your protection, insight, and guidance as I walk my own path.”
“I thank you for your presence and guiding hand, Great Fenrir, I give thanks and praise for your wisdom and protection. Hail Fenrir.”
SIGNS THAT FENRIR IS CALLING YOU:
• A sensation of warmth, protection, or guidance that you feel around you.
• Experiencing a boost in intuition or creativity.
• Having thoughts or ideas that seem to come from a higher power or a divine source.
• Feeling inspired to explore new paths or ways of thinking.
• Seeing signs or coincidences that seem to be connected to Fenrir's energy or a reminder of his presence.
• Having an increased interest in nature, wolves, survival, or self-reliance.
• Having dreams or visions involving Fenrir that seem significant and meaningful.
• Seeing or feeling connections between things that would normally seem unrelated.
• Feeling like you are being guided or led to certain places or experiences.
• Having a sense of deja vu, as if you have been in this situation before, or that it is familiar in some way.
• Feeling a sense of peace, calm, or harmony around you, as if you are being protected or supported.
OFFERINGS:
• Tobacco
• Bread
• Incense
• Booze: wine, beer, mead, and other alcoholic beverages.
• Fruit
• Crystals
• Music
• Bones
• Things associated with wolves: raw meat, animal skins, and wolf teeth, fur, and claws.
• Plants
• Water
• Metals like platinum and gems
• Swords
• Blood
• Fire
DEVOTIONAL ACTS:
• Rituals: following a specific pattern or structure to honor and connect with Fenrir's energy and presence.
• Dress up in neutral, dark colours.
• Leave out offerings of meat and bone.
• Listen to music. (He seems to like metal and rock music, if not norse pagan chants like Loki, so far but it could be different for other followers)
• Eat meat (ethically sourced, of course)
• Spend some alone time in a quiet place or set a time in the day to just revel in the quiet.
• Feel and then release: Fenrir in his core is primal. He is a wolf and he responds to his natural instinct and emotions. Followers of Fenrir are asked to learn how to feel even if it is what others call negative emotions such as fear, anger, pain, sadness, etc.
• Master your rage: rage is a primal emotion that Fenrir rules on. It is chaotic. Keyword here is chaotic. He asks his followers to be angry but the hitch is that they reign in their anger and not let it loose.
• Light a candle to his name.
• Burn earthly incense like sandalwood.
• Toast to his name when you drink.
• Talk to him through meditation.
• Choose your battles wisely. Sometimes not all battles can be fought, some are best won by walking away from them.
• Forgive but do not forget.
• Respect others even if they have wronged you (unless they do not deserve the respect to be merited).
• Always keep your promises.
• Honour him and his family.
• Live life to the fullest. Do not shackle yourself with ideals and whatnot. The sky’s the limit.
• Adopt a furry friend or wolf: there are wolf centres and sanctuaries that allow people to adopt wolves (like be a friend or be a sponsor) to help with the protection of these creatures.
• Studying the history, mythology, and legends associated with Fenrir, as a way to gain a deeper understanding and connection to him.
• Creating symbols or icons related to Fenrir, such as drawing or painting images of him, composing poetry or writing about him, or carving his symbol into wood or stones.

And in the shorter voluspa loki had eaten an heart from an evil woman that was half-cooked resulting in him giving birth to the descendant of ogress, trolls and monsters. And in loki's flyting odin mentioned that loki bore children for 8 winters. so these are all of loki's children and hati and skol are just some extras.
please correct me if i got any of those wrong

Norse mythology AU I wanna hear what people think the gods would do in the modern times
For me I have alot and I’m going to. Lay them exactly out in order
Freyja and Freyr would go to cosplay conventions together, I feel like they definitely do cosplay and especially as a duo and Njordr is just sitting there in like a photo in a fucking flannel while his twin children are dressed as fucking Luffy and Nami(I don’t watch one piece)
Heimdall wears noise canceling headphones, has a 100+ spotify playlist and would absolutely dox people online
Tyr would play baseball, he holds the baseball bat (He will hit the ball and accidentally break a wall)
Odin has exactly 58 different passports
Loki would be wanted and banned in like 12 different states
Sigyn and Angrboda take Hel out on mallshopping (Girl’s night)
Thor is probably at his kids like tennis ball game, yelling and screaming instructions to them (They are trying their best) (He is loud but supportive💔)
Vále plays league of legends with Vidar
Hodur also has a large spotify playlist that he shares with Baldur, they go through different artists and pick out which ones they want (Hodur and Baldur love AJR and Hatsune Miku)
Speaking of which, Thor likes Nicki Minaj i have no explanation for this
Ok that’s all i’m gonna pass out and sleep soon 💔

Day 2: how do you imagine their first meeting in the myths, marvel /or in the MCU? (fanart, short stories or cosplay ^^)
In almost every universe of mine Loki meets Sigyn when he is at his lowest. He has lost everything. He has given up Sleipnir, his wife Angrboda and the children they had together to a prophecy he doesn't understand. He is angry, confused, grieving all because Odin could do it. And none of the gods bats an eye or cared, taking pity while he sat in misery.
Why would they anyway, to a terrible person and god such as Loki?
He knew they wouldn't change, not for him. He thought he would never make it out but then a certain victory goddess reached out. It didn't start with something too grand, just a simple "Hello" and asking if he was alright, still vigilant knowing very well who he was, but compassionate and kind enough to check in on him.
To Loki it was more life changing than anyone could ever know.
Everything started at his worst and ended at their worst, just because Loki brought so much misfortune.. Truly it was out of his control and it never meant that they didn't love. ✨💚

Ballad of Sigyn ( a norse Myth poem )
People told of the tale of the Old Gods of the North
Thor with his hammer
Sif with her grain
My husband Loki with his tricks
And I was most known for me standing by my husband in the Twilight of the Gods
But what if I told you my story
As I treated ye listeners to honeydew tea and raspberry cake in Valhalla
My story is not of common nature, nor of the faint hearted
I've seen just as much moons as much as any other gods
Some have called me ' soft '
How mistaken they are
Once I was a member of the Seidr order of Asgard,
Taught in the ways of pagan priesthood
Whisper in the ears of royals, handling library paperwork, call upon the spirits of nature
That was amongst my duties
My guardians would like to marry any of Odin's sons
Yet Thor, Baldr and Bragi are already Wed
So that leaves Tyr, Hodr and Hermodr ( I can't count how many children Odin had )
Yet I was not interested in any of those bachelor brothers
For a volva is selective with her mate
Then came Loki, a jotunn from another world, so tall, so handsome
His stride stood out from his other Aesir counterparts,
His smile charming and alluring
And when he first kissed my hand after our first dance,
I fell, and I fell hard
We began courting,
Rendezvous in the Palace gardens,
Him and I showing each other magical tricks
How wonderful it is to find someone
Who feels a similar sense of ' otherness ' in Asgard as me
He made me feel more confident of my Elven ears
I made him feel more at home in Asgard, even as a Jotunn
After much negotiation, he and I are wed by Frigg,
And I became a new Princess of Asgard
Years went by,
My sons came, and got along with Loki's other children from his 1st wife
I understood his past with Angrboda
And focused on mainly be a good wife to him
We understand each others' storms in ways several others can't
He would often go to battle with the sons of Odin,
And I would often stay behind, handling diplomatic and sorcery duties
And when he returns, he would rush to me and our children
Embracing us all and showing the world how much he loves us
And I would tend to his wounds as we tell more stories of each other
Our magic is unlike that in Asgard,
And I suppose that what's makes us frightening to some over there
Then, tragedy struck
Baldr was slain,
And my husband is to blame
Yet my husband was influenced by the Norns,
It was not like him to recklessly kill one of Odin's sons,
And I knew it
Yet nobody else seem to listen
And I watched as my husband was banished before me,
My sons killed before my eyes
And I raged, I raged, I raged
All the Nine Realms are cursed with wars against each other
My step daughter Hel, all grown up to be a fine young woman,
Now leading Loki's army against Odin,
After my banishment, I steadfastedly stood beside him,
And helped shield the poison with my bowl
While I cursed all those who killed my sons,
And entrusting Hel to have the final stroke of justice against my sons' deaths
Because hell hath no Fury a volva enraged
And some have to learn the hard way
Fenrir later swallowed Odin whole,
Vidar has slain Fenrir
And I gifted Hel Loki's magical archery set
As Hel delivered a final below at Vidar
And my soul feels at peace, at finally, my sons' murderers are slain
But what of the survivors? How Will they recover?
Only time will tell
At my husband's death, he smiled up at me with his devilishly handsome smile,
And said, ' Love, you've done enough. I will see you in Valhalla.....and hopefully, in another life. '
He smiled a satisfied smile and closed his eyes
Ans for once I could not scream, or say a word
I could only weep
Exhaustion crept through my body,
And days later, my eyes closed
I opened my eyes, and here I was in Valhalla.
The murders of my sons are not there
In first came my sons, who embraced me
And I embraced them in turn
And Vali and Narvi led me to their father
And there he sat, with mead in his hand, and Fenrir and Jormungandr with him. ( Hel took over rulership of Nornheim after Ragnarok )
And beamed at me in welcoming, my Prince of Mischief

Angrboda (after her death)
Pt.1
So I guess this is a part 2 to my first retelling post about Angrboda. This part deals more with what happened to Angrboda after her children were taken away and she was killed. Causing her memories kinda become spilt.
Tw:
Image below the cut contains blood and an arrow lodged in the neck(all fake)+ mentions of death/murder
Tumblr media
The Mother: Due to Angrboda’s curse when she is killed “The Mother” is created from said curse. The mother is what’s left of Angrboda or, in other words, she is what the curse made combined with half her memories (post curse). Angrboda, having the feeling she was going to die anyway, knew how devastated Loki would be, so she decided to use a spell to create “The Mother”. So whenever Loki runs off to the Ironwood due to their own shenanigans or plans going too far(ex: mouth being sewn shut or the instances surrounding Sleipnir and Kol’s birth or he's just generally depressed). Loki finds comfort with this creature even if she is not fully Angrboda just what remains of her memory. Left in order to protect him from his own destructive behaviors when dealing with grief.
Audhild/Angrboda (but dead): Now what really happened to Angrboda after she died is she went to Helheim. But when she decided to shove half her memories into something her curse created. She becomes the way she was before she was cursed. That being said, she doesn’t remember her children or Loki just everything up until she was cursed. This means Angrboda doesn’t recognize her own daughter anymore, which leaves Hel devastated. Even in her attempts to make her mother remember, Angrboda is stubborn and wants to be left alone most of the time. All Audhild cares about is finding her brother and parents (and her first lover, but Angrboda doesn’t know she’s dead).
Also, just for clarification: I’ll link pt 1 of my Angrboda design, but both Angrboda and Audhild are the same person, with different names/aliases(both dead and alive). When Angrboda gets cursed, she remembers who she is but gives herself a new name/alias. But “The Mother” is just the curse Angrboda had becoming its own creature with half of Angrboda’s memories shoved in.

Fucking.
Ganzant.
I am so obsessed with this hellfire dynamic, I don't even know where to begin.
Like, yes, there's the delicious dynamic of a zealous prophet and an apathetic god who doesn't even really consider himself a god, but it's also so much more than that.
They're Jason and Medea. Except Ganondorf is more Heathcliff than Jason; he's more Zant than Zant himself is; he is him; they are both Demise. They both saw each other as escape, but when push came to shove Ganondorf cut the spider's thread and let Zant die, and it bit him in the ass when he tried to call upon the vestiges of their bond and Zant clawed him down to hell with him.
They're like Jesus and Maria in the Pieta but Mary is shrieking and swearing while bawling her eyes out and Jesus isn't so tender, meek and mild now, is he? But they're also Jesus and Peter, first Bishop and first Pope, the one who holds the keys to Heaven, but also Peter is Judas, the knife in his back, the kiss on his cheek, and the means by which he fulfills his holy death.
What are they to each other? What is a God if not a Father, Teacher, King, Lord, Brother, Lover, Master, Husband and Traitor? What is a Disciple, if not a Prophet, a Servant, a willing Slave, a Sister, a Student, a Wife, a Mother, a Dog, your Son?
What does it mean, to share the same body, even for a bit?
When does a lifeline become a noose? If you throw down the rope, how do you know you too won't be dragged down? Ganondorf cut the cord, and fell when the waves hit. He was the hand that fed, and when he stopped, the beast had grown large enough to devour him.
They're Adam and Eve; Eve formed from Adam's rib, from him, his side, and when she offered him fruit proved his demise.
Did Odin create his own doom by dividing Loki's children? By damning Hel to the underworld, Jormangundr to the sea, and Fenrir to ribbon-bound treachery?
Do Sigyn and Angrboda both spurn Loki for the way he twisted them? For the children lost, the annihilation at hand? And yet she holds the bowl anyway.
I think Zant loved him. I think it was selfish, and hungry, and childish, and greedy. And I think he meant it. He would have walked barefoot across the desert, danced with knives in his feet on a ballroom floor of shattered glass, crawled on his belly over hot coals and dove to the bottom of the sea for him. He would have swallowed him down to keep him safe, and rebuild him again, and again. and again, as many times as he needed to rise anew. He gave him life, life worth living; and he gave him life, a new body: rebirth.
I do not think Ganondorf knew how far it went. If and when he realises... what then? It's one thing to exploit hatred, greed, to justify your own backstabbing with the idea that he betrayed his own monarchy, his own people, for you,
What do you do, when faced with a love so big it would do anything you asked, at the price of having you?
Ganondorf is a fiercely independent sort of soul. He brought himself up by his bootstraps despite everything working against him, and fought tooth and nail for the right to even exist. He does not trust, cannot trust, and only brings in people with the knowledge he'll cut them off if they become a liability, and specifically seeks out other ambitious, morally-unhinged people for this. No man is an island, but he'll be damned if he's going down with the rest of the continental shelf.
What do you do when you're suddenly given a soulmate?
That has to be fucking terrifying.
You get everything you want, the way you want, at the cost of losing you.
After all, a God belongs to His people.
As do kings, and lords, and fathers, and sons.
What do you do when you seek a contract and find enmeshment instead?
The rope goes both ways: the lifeline is the umbilical cord, and severence means death in either case. Ganondorf overestimated his own viability, and died clawing himself from his "mother's" embrace.
When they go to Hell, do they see each other? Does Ganondorf escape it so he can escape her? Escape her sharp nails, her malformed fingers around his neck, the bitter hisses and saccharine kisses lain upon his ear? Does he loathe the softness of her thighs when she presses his head to his lap and miss them when he lies awake under an open sky?
Does she curse him when he's near and sob when he's far? Does her heart flutter when she sees the sun in his hair, as her mouth fills with bile vowing to drag him back down with her? Does she yearn to be Semele and Euryidice, wishing he would come fetch her and knowing bitterly it ends the same regardless?
Theseus and Ariadne, Dionysus both.
It's been often said that Zeus, Hades and Dionysus were all aspects of the same god.
In making that pact, are they, too?
What is marriage but a vow to merge 'til death do us part?
Do you want to become one with me?
Birth and Death are two sides of the same coin.
Do you want to become one with me?
In cheating it, have you cheated me?
Do you want to become one with me?
Hyrule's history tells of a King of Thieves,
Do
Did you mean to steal this, too?
you
All men are the same; you have no honour. Why must I suffer, for bearing you?
want
I love you; I love you so much; I want you even if it kills me.
to
And it does.
become
You're the moon to my water, the sun in my sky. There are 93 million miles between us, and yet we gain union via an eclipse.
one
I'm your little satellite, your angel, your Lucifer, your dutiful executioner and nightlight. I watch over your bed with fingers aching to dig themselves into your supple neck.
with
It's not fair! It's not fair! I have been nothing but honest with you. Why do you lie to me? Why do you feed me, then withdraw your hand when I try to lick it? Your taste is wonderful; I love you, I love you so much. If you asked me, I'd gobble you up. I have been nothing but good to you; why do you betray me?
m--
I could make you whole. I would give your my blood, my skin, my teeth and my bones. You could use me for spare parts and I'd thank you each time. Just cradle me on your lap; just offer me milk; offer me meat; offer me hair and offer me water.
You can have anything you've ever wanted,
If only you give yourself.
If you get anything, can I not have everything?

@parrotxx You asked earlier and I already had it in my drafts for a bit so heres all ive written for it so far.
I wonder if this still technically counts as canon compliant cus its the same scene and dialogue and doesnt go against anything in the book because we dont get Loki's thoughts.
Anyways im having a fucking blast with Loki's narration.
------
I do love my kids, despite popular belief and some of my actions. Yes, I'm aware that forcing one of my daughters to marry a giant doesn't exactly scream 'Parent of the Year'. But it'll only be for a day at the latest. Then I'll be free and kill everyone—except my children and my wife.
That snake's gonna get it, though.
"Welcome, Magnus Chase!" I grinned at the boy, "I hope you'll excuse me if I don't get up.".
"Gods." The boy muttered, looking at me with...
Was that pity in his eyes? I haven't seen that kind of feeling towards me in years. More pure hate and disdain is what I'm used to.
I chuckled, forgetting for a moment. "Oh no; no gods here! They never visit. They sealed us in and left us. It's just me and my lovely wife, Sigyn. Say hello, Sigyn."
Sigyn stayed silent, as usual. She looked up at the entourage but didn't show any emotion.
"Oh, that's right," I said bitterly. "Sigyn hasn't spoken in a thousand years—ever since the Aesir, in their infinite wisdom, butchered our sons and abandoned us here to suffer for eternity."
It was actually two thousand and sixteen years, ten months, and four days. But hey, who's counting?
"But where are my manners? This is a happy occasion! How are you, Thyrm, son of Thyrm, son of Thyrm, son of Thyrm?"
Happy for me, more like. I can't say the same for anyone else in this cave; most of them will be dead. Sigyn hasn't been truly happy for two thousand and sixteen years, ten months, and four days, and my daughters have already made their feelings well known about this.
The giant groom—nope, nope! I can't even say it, and if I have to ever again, I'm throwing myself on Heimdall's sword—the giant looked uncomfortable.
The discomfort might have been because it was his wedding day, which was understandable. I remember my wedding day with my first wife, Angrboda. Gods, I was so nervous I shapeshifted into a goat at the altar. It was so embarrassing!
Or the discomfort could have been because he was in my presence. Which is also understandable, considering my —mostly true— terrible reputation.
Either way, I was enjoying his discomfort. I'm really not liking the way he is looking at my daughter.
"H-hello, Loki. It—it's actually just three Thryms..."
I do not care, I thought.
"And I am ready to seal our alliance with a marriage".
And I have been ready to be done with it since you walked in. I also thought but decided to, for once, keep my mouth shut voluntarily.
Instead I said, "Yes, of course! You brought the Skofnung sword!"

Esoteric and Divine Composite: Prospera
Tumblr media
It's time for everyone's favorite gaslighting mommy. As with her daughter and Miorine, I see a number of interesting inspirations and homages for her character. They range from the esoteric Magician from tarot to divine figures, Mimir, Loki, Hades, and Hecate
Magician
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've already covered this parallel in my As Above So Below post. But let me expand on this briefly. With her manipulation and intentional twisting of communication, you can see how she embodies the card itself. It's compouded by Suletta telling us multiple times; Prospera is a magician as her namesake is in The Tempest. But this magician is a hermetic scholar, and so is Prospera.
Tumblr media
The Schwarzette's design, a gundam she's overseen the development of is coded with Baphomet imagery, is proof of this. As Above So Below. And just like any good hermetic alchemist, she pursues eternal life in the form of QZ. The Philosopher's stone or Panacea. She helped create a miracle already in the form of Homuculi, heavily hinted at being aided by Notrette.
Tumblr media
But her time as the Red King is done, the crown given to her daughter, and with the absence of her White Queen another miracle is impossible. All of this is symbolized with her hair and face. Her sun has burned out and all that is left is decay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's another magician beside Prospero she harks to. Merlin, the one whose contest grants Arthur his first sword. Like Merlin, she gives Suletta a sword, lampshaded in Cradle Planet. And as with him, she is eventually 'imprisoned' by a Lady of the Lake (Miorine, who bestows Suletta Calibarn) after imparting wisdom. She's lucky Mio entrapped her as an in-law and not in a tree like Merlin.
Mimir and Loki
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If Mio is Odin then it's Prospera who plays the wisdom granting Mimir. As with Odin, Mio is forced to make a painful sacrifice in order to drink from Mimir's well and gain insight. Take note of Prospera's visor, since it's the first in a series of subtle mythological references. Mimir is eventually beheaded and kept at Odin's side as an embalmed head that provides counsel.
Tumblr media
Loki isn't hard to extrapolate even if you have a passing knowledge of the trickster. It's interesting to note both Odin and Loki are associated with different aspects of Hermes/Mercury. And since GWitch's Hel and Fenrir are her children, she must be Loki. It is Prospera who begins the events of gwitch ragnarok by sending Suletta, as Baldr Guel's mistletoe and slayer of the Nemean Lion, to Asticassia.
Tumblr media
But why the father and not the mother? Because Angrboda is a giant who isn't very relevant in norse other than simply being the mother of monsters. What is intriguing is that you can make a valid comparison for Earthians=Giants in norse myth. Both are contesting against the Aesir/Spacians. So who is an Earthian geneticist who could have uploaded Eri's biometric code and crafted replichildren? Anesidora/Notrette is Prospera's Angrboda. It's wild how they hint at Notrette being Prospera's counterpart in multiple ways. Makes you wonder, is there more to be uncovered? She is explicitly Anesidora, 3 chthonic goddesses who deal in hidden knowledge.
Hecate and Hades
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mentioned it briefly in the Mio analysis, but it goes deeper than simply stealing Persephone and defiling her spirit. Like Hades, she has a Cerberus (Eri) and a helmet that aids her to speak with the dead.
Tumblr media
It might not turn her invisible, but she always seems to slip away until its ripped from her head by a bullet.
Another divine figure who I think Prospera is meant to invoke is Hecate. She is associated with witchcraft, the moon, keys, dogs, and thresholds. Specifically the threshold between the living and the dead. It's easy to relate the dog coded Suletta and QZ as the underworld.
Tumblr media
It was explicitly mentioned when Suletta is called a Key, and we know she's the twelfth, correlating to the philosopher's stone. It simultaneously relates back to esoteric and mythology.
Tumblr media
Hecate is known to wear a mask and to be decaying. When you dig deep, this may be the most on the nose homage honestly. Goddess of witches indeed. Hecate is also inexorably linked to the Eleusinian mysteries along with Demeter and Persephone. The three are often interpreted to be the phases of womanhood: maiden, mother, crone. Considering Hecate's triplicity and the three prominent eyes on Prospera's mask, her design is very interesting. An additional design note, red mullets are Hecate's sacred fish. Prospera/Elnora's hair imo, is a visual pun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
**Tangentially related to the red king point, Helios god of the sun is referred to as Hecate's spear in a Sophocles play. It is a spear, Gungnir, that Odin pierces himself with when hanging in sacrifice. (And Mio throwing herself into Prospera's clutches for her red king could be interpreted as this.) Could be a coincidence, but it works too well I think!
