ive seen SEVERAL 'bill and mabel friendship' au's over the years and i love them all, so i figured it was about time i show the world mine!! ^^ im calling it Mabel's Muse. details under the cut!!

in this au, bill and mabel form a bond in the very early era of the show. like, early to mid season one. much like ford did, mabel lets him into her mind, and they form a close bond. she has no idea he has any ulterior motives. the rest of the shack, and honestly the town in general, chock this up to a weird "phase" of hers, referring to bill as "mabels imaginary friend". but mabel calls him her muse <3

theres a little more to it than this but its honestly still a work in progress, so take this for now and let me know if anyone would be interested in seeing more of this!!!

so bf of taigen to recover from life threatening wounds, just so he can hike all the way to kohama village from master eiji’s forge, buy the best food you can possibly find there, hike all the way back, and then proceed to promptly plop said food right in front of mizu and watch her eat all of it. dosen’t even blink. those dumplings are a childhood nostalgia food for him and he did not eat a single one. literally recovered from his injuries just enough to leave on his own, solely so he could go get food for mizu, and only for mizu. he didn’t get dumplings for anyone else, not even himself. he hates kohama, but he’ll go walk straight into the village centre that smells like the fish on his dad’s fists, just to purchase the only good thing from his childhood in that place, proceed to enjoy none of it, and offer it all to mizu with absolutely no expectations.

so my gf and I tried listening to the new Mountain Goats album while making dinner.

we didn't get through it.

it's showtunes. at first we hoped maybe it would just be the first track, going for something like a broadway opening as a starting bookend for the album. this was not the case, it was this style for as long as we were able to keep listening

(and to be fair to showtunes: I know many jazz musicians worked in, took elements from, and adapted musical theatre, doing incredible things with it. I don't mean anything like that. I mean Showtunes at its most cloying, cheesy, and insipid)

it's shockingly bad on a musical level. the horns are the most generic, corporate-sounding horns possible. john darnielle makes trumpets feeble and boring. the synth work is strangely juvenile, not in the sense of being rough like early mountain goats—more like if characters in a sitcom were going to see an 80s-themed show, that's the kind of discount, plinky synth music the sitcom directors would use for it

we got as far as the 5th track, “Cleaning Crew”, out of 12 total. that was enough, since it was awful in the same way up through that point. I stopped chopping peppers to put on something else, anything else

admittedly, out of the Mountain Goats' work, I'm mostly into The Sunset Tree, We Shall All Be Healed, Getting Into Knives, and Dark In Here. but like, I've listened through Tallahassee. it has its weaknesses, musical and lyrical, I have my criticisms, but it still does some good things. Btw I have to say that my fave pjo ships are all between Percy, Nico, Jason, and Leo - like, basically whatever pair (and even ot3, why not!) you choose, it's an amazing ship

Percy/Nico? Literally my forever otp, i think y'all know by now how much i love them lmao

Percy/Jason? YES yes yes, a thousand times yes, they have such an amazing dynamic

Jason/Leo? The perfect Leo ship if you ask me, sweet and funny and deep at the same time, they complement each other perfectly

Jason/Nico? The sweetest possible ship ever, just thinking about it makes me melt

Nico/Leo? What we could have had in canon if Rick wasn't a freaking coward. I said what I said.

Percy/Leo? This is a weird one, but whatever, at the very least they would be the perfect pair of besties.

the ending of guardians vol 3 is so beautiful because of how fitting it is. obviously we're sad to see them all part ways, but it's what they have to do. the guardians were a family and they always will be, but they're also individual people. a happy ending doesn't mean that all loose ends are tied up and the characters never have any more problems; sometimes a happy ending is just moving on. accepting that people come into your life, change you for the better, and then it's time for you to find your new people. and that's okay.
