i am so angry.
Ok so i was watching beat bobby flay. Pt-br dub. Everything cool. One of the judges of that episode was alex guarnaschelli. Fucking amazing i love her. I was like yay!
Then she spoke.
And i realized.
They changed her va.
It didnt sound anything like the old one. It was so completely different. It was so offputting and i tried changing it to english and it wasnt working for some reason and i was just like!!! No!!!! Thats not her voice!!! Thats not ever so slightly similar!!!!!! Aargh!!!!!!!!
i was actually so fucking overwhelmed watching that episode i couldnt deal with such a different voice for her.
So tragic.
#corvus yaps#i was genuinely so overwhelmed#and angry#also i like talking about my niche ass interests#like cooking shows.#specially food network cooking shows#i wonder if theres tags for the chefs or the shows#there isnt one for alex guarnaschelli#:(#alex guarnaschelli#now it exists. expect more food network posting btw.

Just watched Food Network’s Ciao House and I’m underwhelmed. Love ICAG but I can never get into her shows no matter how much I try (see: Supermarket Stakeout, Alex vs. America, The Kitchen). Tbh I miss when she was on GGG. Anyway, this time the competition is trying way too hard to be a trendy reality show. I watch FN for the food and for this particular show, I wanted to learn about Italy. I’d rather they cut out the petty, staged rivalries and focus more on their beautiful setting. Never mind that it seems like their decision of who to send home was more for “shock value” than anything else.

What I love about Ted Allen on chopped is when he introduces the judges and he's always like "resteraunteur" or "executive chef" but whenever it's Chris Santos he's like "small plate rockstar and critically acclaimed cool guy!!" Or smth else wildly dramatic
#chopped#why does ted allen think chris santos is so cool#also sometimes when he introduces alex guarnaschelli you get the feeling hes about to be like#and my very best friend chef alex from the food network#like yes ted we love her too

what if I become a Food Network fandom blog and pump out gifsets of alex guarnaschelli and guy fieri. for the bit
#yesterday i took the day off work bc of day 3 of...like my third-ever migraine#y'all who get these a lot. my God. i always think so fondly of you. nothing worse imo#anyway i basically posted up on the couch and watched a whole season of alex vs america#which is incredible#and then because i wanted to save some of it instead of starting another season i switched to guy's ranch kitchen#and around minute 4 of guy's ranch kitchen 1x01 i had a bit of an epiphany#that i was watching a group of friends i do no know basically dick around together in front of cameras#the very thing i am often ranting about not understanding the appeal of#i would submit it's different watching celebrated food-makers make food#than. say. watching a bunch of too-online white people play d&d#or whatever it is they're doing on the low-rent game show network or whatever it is#but like. is it? is it different#anyway. alex vs america gifsets coming anytime. get pumped

The cooking show will be interesting. I wonder which one she’s ripping off. Martha Stewart, Ina Garten, and Rachel Ray are probably the most likely ones since they were big in the ‘90s (aka Meghan’s ideal decade). But Selena Gomez and Florence Pugh are popular among the youth with their down-to-earth/slightly chaotic shows. But Anthony Bourdain (RIP) and Stanley Tucci are popular in the wine mom/Goop crowd Meghan is going after.
I say Bourdain. After all, Anthony Bourdain was Meghan's self-admitted OG travel/foodie show muse from way back. A Martha or Ina rip-off would require far too much work and actual expertise (in her mind). Although she may begin like them, based in one location (Montecito/Casa Olive Garden/the "American Riviera"), imo she'd love ultimately to expand into a Bourdain-type international travel/foodie show. I think she thinks that an on-the-road travel/foodie show would be easy-peasy for her (eating, drinking, traveling, word-salading on camera), while the producers and crew do all the bts heavy lifting. Remember when Gwyneth and the disgraced Mario Batali did something similar, traveling through sunny Spain, eating tapas and drinking sherry all day and night? WCK's Jose Andres did the same type of show recently with his daughters. The Tig was Megs' discount attempt to materialize an offer for a similar gig.
Of course, the reality is that the success of Bourdain and his iconic shows - just like Martha's and Ina's - required intense work and decades of culinary expertise and experience, not to mention personal charisma to burn ...none of which Meghan has.
(PS: "Slightly chaotic" is a perfect description for Selena + Chef! I loved her early show with Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli (sp?), in which Selena showed up in the kitchen wearing a white pinafore dress lol. But she's authentic and eager to learn, bless her heart, and brings in a young viewership.)
