the thing about fall out boy is they will always make you feel so seen and heard, they will hold your hand and hug you and tell you they understand how you feel and that you aren't alone. that they're saved by their music just as much as you are, that the separation between us as listeners and them as the artist is basically nonexistent. we are the dreamer and they are the dream, they owe us everything as we to them. has anybody else thought about how jk could easily manage sofia's parts of slow dance or is it just me?
#jikook#bts#everybody is working to insert jk in who where i just don't see it (other than the seven parallels)#and not talking much about what i see as WAY more obvious nods most especially in rebirth#like jm sings about wanting to be worthy of someone - maybe someone who just became a huge SOLO global popstar?#and mentions 'real love' - what was the name of that chapter in the bangtan book again?#and the feminine pronouns not present it's just the nebulous 'you' that in jimin songs often stands in for 'army'#(and one very specific 'fan' who has said he is ALSO army)#it's the 'i wanna be with you'#the answer for jk's 'i am still' with its unspoken additional 'still with you' layer#and then we get slow dance and we're back to the nebulous 'you' - on an island he-#oh wait what was that about a pair that traveled to an island? and filmed some stuff there that we'll see soon? hm#the reason this set me off though is the lines about 'cancelling my plans' to live to 'the tempo of our favorite song'#the falling deep into lines etc etc#because we know what happens when those two get together - they lose track of time everything else fades away#it's why they haven't done lives. why 'you and me' are 'up all night' why jm knows that as soon as jk is around#his self-discipline will crack and he'll fall into the pattern he tried to head off by separating from jk while making face#and we *know* jimin wrote on this song#frankly if he *hadn't* gotten a female feature everybody would be JUMPING on this song as a jikook anthem#the inclusion of sofia works perfectly - like hammering the pin back in a grenade#but i was reading those lines and thinking how high she went and going who else could sing this ...?#huh. who do we know of who can sing *anything*? and who has a range that can hit and blend with jimin's perfectly?#so. i dunno. y'all do your delulu the way that works for you and i will do my delulu my way lol#personally i think the eyes in the mv look like a screenshot from the love wins all mv but that's only me#i think the parallels with seven work more#and speaking of parallels (there are so many) i think this album was built to ensure jm is on equal footing with a certain someone#it's the commerciality of it - as though jm was like we will be together in this as well#when he seems not to be super interested in global domination but still 'special' enough to be on the same level with his love

#helix.txt#gross i ended up spilling my guts in tags. look at them fucking writhing on the floor all bloody#dont rb please#vent#to quote fall out boy i knew it was over i just didn't know the date#yeah that's it. fall out boy can fix this.#i will feel better if i go listen to bang the doldrums#and infinity on high in general#and folie a deux. folie a fucking deux how i love that album#my chem will make me better. gerard way save me#god what a weird feeling. you used to know me better than any other person but then you moved hundreds of miles away and it worked#for a while. then two years later you said it wasnt working and that this was best for both of us. guess i never got the memo for that one#hope we treat other people better because i wasn't as kind as i should have been towards the end and you were never as thoughtful or con-#-siderate as i needed towards the end. we grew apart because you're bad at keeping contact over messaging#and in some ways the cracks in the foundation that grew from that were my fault too i guess. our conversations always felt one sided#maybe i was smothering you#you could never seem to keep more than a passing recollection of the things i liked or even pay much attention to them#but i wasn't great about that either#we just became different people. you weren't what i wanted or needed and you couldn't do long distance. whatever#i know it was the right thing i just wish it hadn't made me feel so damn awful#will we still talk after this? who knows. we didn't end on bad terms but things are definitely weird#and considering your track record with people you can only talk to online i'm not optimistic#you tried to break things off initially by saying you'd said you would improve in the past with nothing to show for it#something i didn't disagree with but i said it didn't bother me much. and it didn't#but it's complicated now. i did deserve better. but you made it clear i'm not getting it from you#you weren't as present or thoughtful as i needed#i wasn't there in person the way you needed and certainly not as considerate as i should have been. and for that second part i'm truly sorr#anyways. sorry. i'd been thinking about it for a long time anyway. i didn't want to admit it because i didn't like to think#about what it might bring. maybe i should have been braver#right. that's enough

so much (for) stardust was made with the care of a family dinner. It was made meticulously but in a way that showed the love for it instead of the desire for perfection. It was made together, and it was about enjoying the process of making music together. It was made as a celebration of their previous eras and at the same time moving on from them. They savored its creation.
It’s about the two choices you have when faced with the darkness of life and the inevitability of the end: giving in to nihilism or putting nihilism forcefully aside and choosing to make something out of your life and doing what your passions call you to do.

#I have to admit. I shut this off after about 30 seconds when I first heard it#because the reverb/auto tune on Keith’s voice and the generic beat track are both terrible#they still are#but I went back after hearing that reviewer say it was the 2nd best song on the album/best lyrically#and realized…this is the Charlie song#I mean just look at the first verse#‘do we have something or nothing at all/just tell me straight’#after everything they went through with Charlie keeping Keith in the dark about how sick he was#‘you got me high and it’s quite a long fall’ when he used to say Charlie gave him the ability to fly#‘how do we finish? how do we start? … how do we meet? how do we part?’#because now he knows their ending and their beginning despite insisting for years that Charlie would never die on him or fail him#‘everyone is asking questions/I’ve got one or two’ when the question he’s asked most frequently is about Charlie#‘just need a little time to clear the mind’ after he said he could only mourn Charlie ‘in increments’ because otherwise it was ‘too much’#and ‘play me a song/life’s moving too fast’ is depressingly self evident#the rolling stones#charlie watts#keith richards#old married band#lyrics

"Diamond on a Landmine” by Billy Talent
#song of the day#buckle up babes this one's a nice showcase of how my brain retains memories which is to say it's a long path to a close destination#in early 2011 when Leverage's season three had recently wrapped#one of my friends was writing a character study piece for Eliot with a partial focus on his toxic relationship with Damien Moreau#and they made a writing playlist for the fic that included this song#(and also 'Laughing with a Mouth of Blood' by St Vincent. absolutely killer song)#and I like the song but for whatever reason I never looked up anything else by Billy Talent#(I was at the time not spending so much time looking up new music but more just letting it come to me#in 2017 St Vincent came out with 'Los Ageless' and I was like oh I know her!! and I started paying attention to her albums#which is good because then in 2021 she released the Daddy's Home album which has 'Pay Your Way in Pain' /and/ 'The Melting of the Sun'#which are absolutely incredible tracks and my life would've been less without them)#and then today I saw a Call of Duty post with lyrics from Billy Talent's 'Afraid of Heights'#and I didn't recognize the lyrics so I went and pulled up the song as how I do#and as it played I was like. do I know this? no. I know something like this. what is it?#and at first I was convinced I'd just been listening to it but then why couldn't I place it? and then I realized I hadn't heard it recently#but I had been /thinking/ about something /related/ to it--which I had been. sort of. there's a Damien Moreau post queued for tomorrow--#and then in Afraid of Heights the chorus was wrapping up#'you're the only one I'd follow til the end of time / if we fall we fall together baby don't think twice again'#and something clicked and I dragged 'Diamond on a Landmine' up out of the depths of my various-artists folder#it's a great song got an excellent build to it#'alone at last / I can't wait til we're alone at last / all I wanted was a second chance / a second chance / to hold you in my arms at last#and the visual of 'better watch your step / she's a diamond on a landmine' is fantastic#anyway! I made giant scotch eggs with my family's spicy sausage ball mix instead of the normal breading and they're amazing#a good day#two weeks into May already can you imagine

#i’ve liked this chapter tbh#i was expecting all the falling action to be mid to bad but it’s actually been good sometimes#never on the level of WE’RE SO BACK but you know. it’s also not SO OVER#it’s evened out in the end. the epic highs and lows of c****** r*****. as they say#also it’s literally just that i don’t care as much anymore because this whole era is finally on the outs#turns out all we needed was for it to stop snowing and for me to read a fucking book#good to know. will keep in mind for future cringe eras!#the hard part is going to be finding a way to get MAD back into tsc in the time allotted#like i need to be crazy crazy. timeless video era insane.#what really needs to happen is i need to start rereading lord of shadows#and then we’ll be set most likely#i simply need a taylor album that is not attached to something stupid in my mind#i realized tonight that my anti midnights bias is just due to the fact it’s the horrors album#i could have been a midnights lover this whole time if it had simply come out a few months later!!! but it’s over and done. we persist
