Alaskan Gothic-
Stuffed animal heads above
Every door and entry way,
Glass eyes of bull moose and
Black bear rugs,
Like guardian angels.

Alaskan stone sheep sketch | Limited edition fine art print from an original drawing. My sketches start life as hand-drawn graphite images made on cartridge paper. I often work on these with charcoal, oil pastel or Caran d'Ache to create the look I'm after. The artwork is then scanned and finessed digitally ready for fine art printing. This process often referred to as Giclée printing uses the highest standard of printing methods to give gallery quality results that maintain all the details of the original sketch. The graphite pencils I use are Faber-Castel, the oil pastels are Sennelier and the china-graph is Caran d’Ache. The inks are pigment based archive quality (100years+). The heavyweight specialist papers I use are of the best professional quality having a wonderful surface designed specifically for fine art drawings and illustrations. Very limited editions with only ten per size printed. All artwork is signed and includes a certificate of authenticity. The A5 are 5.8" x 8.25" (14.8cm x 21cm) The A4 are 8.25" x 11.7" (21cm x 29.8cm) The A3 are 11.7" x 16.5" (29.8 cm x 42cm) The A2 are 16.5" x 23.4" (42 cm x 59.4cm) Originals are A3 11.7" x 16.5" (29.8 cm x 42cm) Frames not included in price. Free shipping on artwork to all destinations. https://www.seanbriggs.co.uk/product/alaskan-stone-sheep/?feed_id=5618&_unique_id=67554bb59eeb7

todays wotd!: sunaał.
meaning: to be tired
pronounciation: sue-naahl. (the barred l sound is made by placing the tongue on the roof of your mouth and exhaling, it should sound lime hissing!)
etymology: there's no direct etymology for this word, but i believe it's an old combination of su-, a prefix for new. and naał, the word for breath! in this theory, it would be getting new breath, for the next day!
usage: sunaał'nu, sgüü nm xst'ox. (i am tired. i must sleep.)
breakdown of the sentence:
- sunaał - to be tired.
- 'nu - i, or me. (first person singular, marked absolutive pronoun.
- sgüü - must, to have to do.
- nm - i will. (n - first person ergative/transitive pronoun / dm - will
- xst'ox - to sleep

I am from Alaska, and oh so how this reminds me of home. Mountains as far as the eye can see, snow caps that you know you'll never reach, but they tell you when its time for spring. Trees tall and trees thick they make you houses and tools and rods to catch fish. Silver silt rivers and streams crack open the brown and green ground. Owls sit in the trees you aren't looking, as hawks fly over your car driving down the one lane road. Coffee is dark, older folks say it grows hair on your chest, that and whiskey. Animals you've never seen before peak out from forests you've never known to watch the homesteaders and the hunters and the people passing through. Oh Alaska how I miss you.
