My (very quick) design of Akiridon prince Steve!

This would be the version of him if he came to earth along with his siblings for the events of 3Below and Trollhunters.

This is NOT the version of him where he is already on earth and is the Steve we kinda know (more on that Steve later)

Solaris was born two years before his siblings and by himself which is odd for akiridons (apparently)

He was raised to be heir apparent

He dearly loves his siblings

His whole appearance is all about his siblings (see his hair with krel’s spikes and Aja’s hair bump)

He always makes sure he has time for them when they need

Aja and krel see solaris more as their parent than their actual parents

Solaris is a skilled fighter and trained to be a general with Zadra and varvatos vex (am I hinting at a knight thing??? Perhaps)

He’s basically the most perfect heir

The coronation is actually for him to take the throne and his siblings to be named king and queen in waiting

Morando happens

They go to Earth

Aja and Krel thrive

Solaris…. Does Not

(Until he sees a cute human guy who is also fucking struggling and they end up connecting over having way to many duties and identity crisis.)

I'm still pissed at ROTT so since I'm not a YouTube reviewer you get this text wall of me explaining why while the ending of the movie does indeed suck it isn't just the ending that sucks

Why didn't Jim put on any armor till the very end? you pretentious child why should I care if you got injured when you're running around armorless just because you can't have your magical amulet armor anymore

Why was Jim questioning if he was still the Trollhunter when all the way back in S2 E11 'Unbecoming' of Trollhunters he himself said "I know I'm the Trollhunter. I'm the Trollhunter, Amulet or not"

Why did Jim suddenly start caring about his father in the movie? Aside from the fact the conversation leads to nothing and you could've easily cut it out and it wouldn't have changed anything it was established all the way back in S1 that Jim never cared about his father so why retcon that?

They shouldn't have killed Nomura off so early when we've barely been able to see her dynamic with the Trollhunter cast outside of being an antagonist and let alone see her dynamic with the cast of 3below and Wizards

Following up on the last one why did you send Trolls to the only Titen in broad daylight, you can't tell me there weren't better picks then Nomura and Arrrgh

And on that point, here's my little fan reassignment of the teams

Anyways time to explain my reasonings

Team Sword: the OG was fine I have almost no problems with this one but Krel could've been utilized way better imo, also Arrrgh is perfect for lifting up a giant rock with a sword embedded in it, he's literally always described as a hulking brute by other characters so ??

Team Orb: same thing with Team Sword I have nothing against it and it's probably the best one out of all of the originals but man Nomura interacting with Blinky is just... such an amusing thought to me, it is partly fueled by the short kinda interaction they had when Krel was playing music earlier in the movie but anyways more serious reasoning is I think she's the best alternative to Claire since it's not like her shadow magic was- or could've been used at any point during the mission乁(ツ)∫

Team Sunshine: once again what the hell was Jim thinking with this one? The only one that made sense to be there was Douxie, anyways reasonings with this one is that 1. Toby would actually be utilized lmao 2. Toby and Krel interactions fuel my soul 3. With Toby's hammer and Krels tech they'd probably have a way easier time getting up the Earth Titen

Team Icy: Claire Shadow magic = no rope snapping and lesser chance of Strickler dying aka less unnecessary deaths yay :DDDD

The mission assigning was such a good opportunity to have characters interact who haven't interacted prior/flesh out previously established relationships that didn't get alot of screentime and ROTT blew it, truly so much missed potential but I suppose you can say that for the entire movie

Why did they just casually mention there was a heartstone on Akiridion-5 like we knew that information prior to the movie? no one commented on it and it made me feel insane while watching

GET. RID. OF THE. MPREG. SIDE PLOT‼️‼️‼️ you're not Fairly OddParents it doesn't work and doesn't make sense, Aja and Steve have entirely different biology

(These next ones are more personal/general nitpicks but whatever)

Call me a hater but the whole "Arcadia is the center of the universe" is so dumb, I remember first hearing that little bit of info from a fancomic and i thought it was just having Blinky be egotistical but no, apparently that's a fact of life now

Idk I think it's cooler and funnier if all these guys came to Arcadia out of pure coincidence yknow?

what/where was Dictatious, Chompsky, Nancy/Nana and anyone else I'm forgetting doing during all this especially when Arcadia was being destroyed at the end, just feel like they should've atleast done a quick cut away shot to what they were doing during all this chaos (translation: I miss Dictatious)

Why doesn't Blinky use Dwärkstones anymore, I thought that was gonna be his signature weapon after The Eternal Knight but apparently not I guess, seeing him chuck explosives at Gods definitely wouldn't have been cool anyways...

Blinky sure has alot of time on his hands for being the supposed Head of New Jersey Trollmarket

Btw does that place even exist cuz for all intents and purposes it doesn't, so serious why didn't we ever get to see it dude 😭

Before I get to pointing out the obvious with the ending I'd like to highlight scenes that I actually liked and were actually good!

I liked the scene in the somewhat beginning with Blinky and Arrrgh talking about if the other dies they were glad they got to know the other that was sweet, loved it, 10/10

Like I mentioned earlier the brief scene with Krel playing music and Blinky and Nomura being annoyed by it was great, got a chuckle out of me and I wish we got to see more of that

Blinky being electrocuted was pretty good 👍 the pilot unnecessarily pointing out his multiple eyes and arms was funny to me

near the end where Blinky went to comfort arrrgh when Toby died was another 10/10 I love them ur honor

Okay being nice over, time to dig into this movie again

Toby being the Trollhunter is such a terrible idea for multiple reasons

For 1. It just makes Jim's job harder now cuz changing something as fundamental as who's the Trollhunter is gonna drastically change so many things which inturn makes things far less predictable and unless Jim has the new amulet still (which is unlikely since he's never shown with it after going back) he can't just Undertale-style reset if something goes wrong

2. Toby has never shown interest in being in any leader-type role (unless you count him directing his short film in 3below) and considering part of being the Trollhunter is basically leading an entire race...

3. Sorta following up on point 2 The role of being Trollhunter holds so much responsibility and burden and it just... dare I say, doesn't make sense for Jim as a character to put that burden onto Toby, his best friend

Guys this is the same kid who went into the darklands alone to take on Gunmar because he didn't want to see anymore of his friends/family getting hurt and you expect me to believe he'd then put that all onto Toby?

4. Toby even getting the amulet doesn't make sense considering in 'Unbecoming' the amulet was already taken by Draal by the time school ended

5. Speaking of 'Unbecoming' that episode also established that if anyone but Jim got the amulet Arcadia- and in extension the world- would be doomed and the eternal knight would happen so I guess he wants everyone to die ! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyways I'm done (hopefully) TLDR: the movies awful, makes dumb decisions, completely ignores or retcons things established earlier in the franchise and didn't utilize it's extensive cast at all

More 3below Headcanons

● Aja and Krel where aleays treated differently. Aja always seemed to be the favorite. Their parents still loved both of them, but they let Aja get away with more things while putting Krel under alot of pressure.

● Krel held a little bit of resentment towards Aja but could not hold it against her because none of it was her fault. She wasnt even aware of it.

● Varvatos Vex would have loved werther's original

● Aja and Krel are both somewhere on the ADHD spectrum

● Aja is terrified of responsibility. Like that makes so much sense. Thats why she always runs away to not face responsibility. She is terrified of being queen. Of being in charge and responsible for millions of people. Of messimg up and endangering her people, her home, ger family. She's not ready for it, not prepared, of being wrong or make the wrong choice. This inadvertently made her parents put alot of pressure on Krel.

● Krel would be claustrophobic. Thus due to a situation of Krel trying to fix some part of the ship endes up in a very claustrophobic situation thus started having a panic attack. Aja would try to help but she dosent really know what to do. They manage to get him out and the Mother AI gives them a rundown on what humans call mental health and panic attacks

● Mental health would also not be a major thing on Akiridion. They were a technologically advanced race they probably speed ran through evolution thus never really looked into mental health alot.

● Zadra would actually be quite kind to Krel. Pre Morondo she sees his arrogant nature and but also knows the amount of pressure he is under and how despite being royalty is kinda treated as an outcast and is not as favoured as his sister. Hes not by any means a major combatent like the rest of his family so she teaches him basic self defense. It's slow as hes not very good at it but she is always supportive and patient. (Inspireied by a post by @garocamarillo)

● Steve would actually be really good at chess. Krel would suck at it and hate the game

● Krel not having many (if any) friends on Akiridion 5. Due to his status as a royal and people wanting to be friends with him for political or manipulative reasons to gain more power and station. Or due to his arrogant and closed of nature and people seeing him as the black sheep of his family as opposed to Aja who is much kinder and seen as perfect.

● Eli gets Krel into Dungeon and Dragons

● Krel loves frogs and has multiple frogs pets

● Aja would 100% be into snakes. Like obsessed. Would know all the snake facts and have a pet ball python. She named him Sir Snake.

Just finished showing my boyfriend Tales of Arcadia. Some of his thoughts (please note these opinions do not represent the opinions of everyone associated with this blog, most notably that of the first bullet point):

- Varvatos Vex is what makes 3 Below watchable.

-“I hate it,” in response to the ending. “It implies the amulet chose wrong the first time.”

- The 9th configuration is so conceptually lame.

- Archie’s dad rocks.

- The animation in the movie is beautiful, Nari’s design is so pretty, and the Titan’s design is very cool.

- Steve’s mpreg: it’s funny but I hate it.

- Toby being the butt of the joke at the beginning of the movie about not knowing where to send him because they don’t think he’s good for anything is such a disservice to his character and regressive on the writers’ parts, especially since it’s Blinky saying it.

- The idea of a magic neutralizing ray is ridiculous, and makes Toby’s “sacrifice” all the more ridiculous.

- Akiridion tech and magic being compatible is kind of like when Thor says that Asgard’s tech is what humans call magic.

- Steve was robbed of being the first Knight of the modern age, a competent and skillful person who can actually do anything.

Troll hunters au where it’s Frozen. Douxie is Elsa, Claire is Anna (I could’ve used Krel and Aja but I’m saving them for later). Basically the same plot as the movie but with certain changes to it. Jim is Kristoff, and the rock people he’s raised with are obviously the trolls. I feel like Toby should be that other guy who likes reindeer (I forgot his name but he’s in the second movie). Hans being Steve is obvious but bc of his character development I think I’ll put someone else. Krel and Aja would be northuldran, as well as most Akiridions we meet, though I think Aja Krel have some sort of power that lets them travel between the forest and the kingdom. Douxie would obviously be the one with powers, though he would have magic in general instead of just ice. I think that Sven should maybe stay Sven, like no particular character name attached, maybe I’ll change it but it feels weird to put one of the characters as a reindeer (which is why I decided I didn’t want Toby to be Sven). Merlin would of course be their grandfather, the one who made a deal with the northuldrans and lied, and Claire’s parents would be their parents. Idk if I’m cooking, but I think I’m doing pretty good with it. Also the forest spirits are obviously Nari, Bellrock, and Skrael.

Rise of the Titans ending rewrite

Trollhunters is one of my favorite shows of all time, and 3 below and Wizards are really good as well. Unfortunately, the film that ended the series ended on a low note. I liked the the film itself, not nearly as good as the shows that proceeded it, but decent and if it were not for the ending it would have been a serviceable ending. However, the ending ruined the movie. Having Jim Lake restart the Tales of Arcadia series from the very beginning and making Toby the new troll hunter was a very bad decision. Not only was there an episode of Trollhunters that shows that the world would be screwed if Jim never became the troll hunters, but it also undoes all the the character development everyone aside from Jim went through and made the deaths of allies like Drall less impactful. After some time of thinking I also thought of other problems that the film had that made the film unwatchable compared to the shows. So here, I want to create a new ending for Rise of the Titans to hopefully end the series on a better note. This post will just discuss a possible new ending if they had to keep everything else, because as bad as the other things are, the ending was my biggest gripe with the film, but I will do another post where I rewrite the film altogether. So here is my ending rewrite of Rise of the Titans.

After defeating Belroc, Jim goes to check on Toby only to see him close to death. Not only that, despite being dead, Belroc technology won as they got their titan to the core and the Earth as we know it will soon come to an end. Jim looks at the Krohnisfere which took a lot of damage and gets the idea to go back in time to stop all of this, however due to the damage it took, the user could only go back in time so far and Jim is the only one with Excalibur so he can't go back otherwise no one will be able to stop Belroc. Knowing this, Jim decides to use the kronenfere to go back in time to the train fight at the start of the film and use his new amulet to defeat Belroc and Skrel, preventing all the death and destruction they caused. After the battle, we cut to some time in the future were we see what the gang have been up to. Nari forms a new Arcane order that hopefully won't go evil and destroy the world. Jim, Toby, Claire, Eli and Krel head off to college. Douxie becomes the new master wizard looking over everything with Archie by his side. Aja takes Steve with her to Akiridion-5 were they run the planet in piece, occasionally visiting Earth to visit their friends. And finally, Blinky and Arrrgh along side some of the other trolls find a new home for them and the other trolls. The film then closes with Jim looking at his amulet and deciding to keep it so that no matter what, Earth will always have a protector. The End.

So what did you guys think, did I improve the ending or did I make it worse.

One Way of Being Useful

Claire has felt useless all summer.

AU in which Claire and Jim never got together (likewise for Aja and Steve), and the guy with skills in geology and a magic hammer went with the trolls instead of the theater girl who doesn't have a magic weapon.

"Anything I can do to help?" Claire asked. She hated feeling useless. She had been feeling useless ever since Toby had broken the staff to trap Morgana. She hadn't been useful enough to go with Jim, Toby, and the trolls to New Jersey. She had only been as useful as Steve and Eli at fighting off Morando.

She hadn't been useful enough to keep Aja from becoming an orphan. From being alone while Krel took the throne. Akiridions didn't cry, and yet Aja's voice was hoarse from crying. "Hold me?"

Claire helped her girlfriend in the only way she could.

Hi Pinky what if Barbara and Strickler Switch their places. with Barbara being a changeling in Secret While Strickler is Just being the School history teacher.

Ooh this sounds like a great AU! Love a good role swap!

So I think that Barbara would end up being a doctor who works part time at the hospital and reports to Bular at night and also works part time at Arcadia Oaks High school... Because she secretly likes kids and wanted one of her own, but that's impossible because she's a changeling.

Walter is still a history teacher, and single dad to Jim. Instead of being abandoned like Barbara was in Canon, Walt's wife passed away when Jim was only five.

Barbara forms a bond with Jim just after he starts high school, after Jim gets punched up defending Eli from Steve, she patches him up, and Jim sees in her the mother he never got to know. Also since Walt was called in for the fight, Barbara and Walter end up together before Canon, with Barbara not revealing she's a changeling.

Canon events roll up, but instead of Jim being chosen it's Walter. Since in this AU there's no reason for Jim to be chosen when there's a perfectly capable adult who is already somewhat experienced with a sword due to fencing practice in his youth, amoung other things.

Anyway. Barbara is naturally devastated her boyfriend got chosen as the Trollhunter, but she's also aware Bular will kill her if she doesn't retrieve the amulet.

There is some fighting between Walt and Barb for a bit, but they work through it because of Jim. Soon enough Bular is defeated, Angor Rot is never a problem since Nomura and Barbara are BFF's in this AU, being the same age as changelings.

Unfortunately Walt is still dunked with the half troll potion to fight Gunmar, still looking like his canon troll form, but with eyebrows, longer ears, even more human nose and still green eyes. He gets wings too. Barbara naturally loves him even more like that, but refuses to accept he's stuck forever as a troll. Between her, the Akiridions when they arrive, Morgana (she reforms) and Merlin and Douxie they find a way to let Walt be human and troll. Also, Jim gets the shadow staff in this AU.

Oh yeah, and Barbara’s troll form is teal, with brighter red hair than her human form, curling ram horns and the usual yellow and red changeling eyes. She also has cloven hooves like Nomura, but the addition of a tail.

Dichotomy

Reason 3678378437824567512 to hate Rise of the Titans: We never got to see a fully trained Steve and Eli fight side by side.

The movie was overall lacking in Creepslayez content. But, I don't think we fully grasp what we were robbed of.

In Wizards, Steve Palchuk was trained in the ways of knighthood by Sir Lancelot. Steve learned to fight well enough that he could take on Gumm-Gumms. He even gained a mystical weapon, for I highly doubt that the Lady of the Lake's tooth does not have magical properties. Steve is the encapsulation of the series' fantasy elements.

For about a year, Eli Pepperjack was on Akiridion-5. Given that he shared a planet with and was close to Aja Tarron and Varvatos Vex, it is safe to assume he would have received some Akiridion soldier training from the best of the best, willingly or not. He would also definitely ask for his own serrator. He was well respected on the planet. His designs for a gigantic robot were used. When he came back to earth he was even wearing Akiridion clothes. Eli is the encapsulation of the series' sci-fi elements.

If they, as the Creepslayerz, fought side by side during the events of the movie, it would have been a beautiful representation depicting the meshing of the series' rather juxtaposed sci-fi and fantasy elements.

We were robbed.

Tales of Arcadia au where everything is the same except 3Below's extraterrestrial elements fall into the HFY genre of sci-fi. Aja and Varvatos being light and lanky and fighting stronger foes using power armor/tech suits; Krel's skills being much more valued; and Toby, Eli, and Steve being more useful because it turns out Earth is an incredibly hostile planet and they're fast and strong compared to all these intimidating species of bounty hunters.

I'm just saying, it would be hilarious for the Akiridions to see humans as barbaric and barely sapient and then wham, tiny little Eli puts a fist clean through a bounty hunter's chest cavity in season 2 on accident

SnowFall: Krel & Fem!Reader [Part 1]

'Krel wanted to stay home, but his ski trip turns out to be far more interesting than he'd ever thought it could be.'

“Ay-yi-yi,” grumbled Krel.

The grandeur of the ski resort’s lobby was lost on him when he categorically did not want to be there. “It is bad enough you drag me away from Mother. I should not have to see … that.”

He pointed at Aja and Steve accusingly. They were currently wrapped in each other’s arms over by the check-in counter, ignoring everything around them in favour of mashing their faces together. Varvatos shook his head, his booming voice at odds with his stout, geezer body.

“Varvatos promised the king and queen he would protect you both. He cannot do that if you are apart.”

Krel scoffed.

“You could have said no to this trip.”

“The queen-in-waiting assured me her ski-resort tickets were none-refundable.”

Krel waited for the rest of it. He couldn’t believe that was the reason they were here. But nothing came. He watched Varvatos turn to the check-in counter, slamming his wrinkled hand on the desk to demand the clerk do his job quicker. Then Krel’s gaze fell back to the lovebirds.

It wasn’t long before he was sure he would puke.

“Great Gaylen, this is ridiculous.”

Refusing to watch any more of the mushy spectacle, Krel turned to walk away, but fell into someone immediately. He stumbled, but she stumbled harder. She looked ready to fall over, but managed to catch her footing and only lost her chunky headphones instead. They clattered to the parquet flooring with a heavy thwu-tu-tunk.

“Sorry,” said Krel hurriedly, though he held Aja and the blonde oaf responsible. He picked up her headphones, held them out as if to hand them back, but paused when he heard the song playing out of them. “Hey! I know that music. You like Tiësto?”

He was surprised to find someone on his musical wave-length. But instead of reciprocating, the girl looked wide-eyed nervous. She nodded, but took the headphones from him then dashed off as quickly as she had come.

Krel watched her go, raising a puzzled eyebrow.

“Smooth move, buttsnack.” Said Steve, his voice dripping with its usual cockiness. Of course. The only reason he would break away from Aja’s face for a few seconds would be to interject his unwanted opinion.

“My movements are always smooth, thank you.”

After checking in, the quartet retired to their room on the tenth and highest floor. It was a room more akin to an apartment. Originally, Steve had booked a double just for him and Aja, but Varvatos had insisted on upgrading to one large room. He insisted everyone be within rescuing distance should the moment arise. It had left the clerks with very little choice but to put them in the penthouse, equipped with three bedrooms, a lounge, kitchenette, and cushy balcony hot tub. Krel’s digitally-adept fingers had made swift work of the resort’s membership cards, loading one with enough points to pay for the entire trip upfront.

“If I must be dragged away from fixing Mother, I should at least be comfortable.” He said, flopping down onto one of the large, sunken couches surrounding their personal fire-pit. Aja was over by the floor-length windows, looking out at the grand, snowy mountain peaks.

“So lively.” She cooed. She could see people on the hills, zipping down them on poles attached to their feet. “I want to try that.”

Steve came up alongside her, slipping his arm around her waist.

“That’s why we’re here, babe. We’re going skiing tomorrow.”

“Glorious!” Bellowed Varvatos, his hulking Akiridion body pressing up against the glass next to them. “We shall battle these who-mans on their powdered-water terrain. Varvatos imagines he is even more terrifying speeding towards his enemies on pointed sticks.”

The others laughed, hardly willing to tell him that skiing was not a contact sport.

The next morning, two of the Akiridions eagerly transducted into their human guises, while the third had to be bullied into it by his sister.

“I upgraded your serrators so you could go out whenever, and this is the thanks I get?” Complained Krel, shifting into his human form after Aja’s endless pestering. “Go without me! I have no desire to be cold or wet on some hill.”

“Please, little brother.” Aja begged, already wrapping up in thermal gear on the couch. “It will not be the same without you.” She paused to punctuate her point. “You need a break from duty, too.”

Krel knew she was right, in essence. But his idea of a break was something separate from the outdoor escapade she clearly wanted. But when she looked at him like that, he could hear his mama and papa telling him that all they had was each other. And with a sigh, he caved in.

“Fine. It should be no harder than riding your hoverboard.”

Things that would have been interesting to see in 3Below

● Krel and Aja confronted their parents and how they were kinda terrible rulers.

● How when Morondo took over there were people cheering for him which means that the people were not all that happy with the king and queen. i mean in the first 10 minutes we see the way king Fialkov talk to loth saborian and how he sounds so dismissive, so rude.

● Zadra realized that the king and queen were not doing the best job and while they did do a lot of good they were also not doing the best job and while she still is loyal to them she is not blind anymore to their flaws and the governing body must be held to a higher standard.

● Morondo not being the one who hired the Zerons. resulting in a complicated relationship with the king and queen and Varvatos

● The conflict between Krel and his dad and how King Fialkov never took an interest in his son's interests and always dismissed them. How Krel felt unloved by his dad and how he just wanted his fathers love, respect, and acceptance and that's why he was so adamant about becoming the king in waiting thinking it was the only way that he could get those things from his dad. how Fialkov clearly favored Aja over him. How his dad realizes how he made his son feel and genuinely apologises and tells him and he loves him and starts taking an interest in his son's intrests and how Krel no longer wants to be the king and wants to stay on Earth

● The conflict between Queen Coranda and Aja and how they left Voltar to destruction, how she kept so many secrets from her. How little Aja actually knows about her mother. How Aja is realising that Akiridion is not perfect and has so many flaws and problems especially politically. How she now wants to be queen to better the lives of Akiridion and try and being to make those mistakes and problems right. How her mother was trying to protect her daughter and thought it was the best way to do so. How they reconcile and start to build a real relationship

● Varvatos feels conflicted about his feelings for Nancy. it's said his family died but never stated who they were, I like to think that he had two kids and a partner. How he feels like he is betraying and tarnishing the memory of his deceased partner. how he realizes that falling in love and and seeking someone to confide in and to have comfort in does not diminish the love he has for your first partner.

● Steve realizing how much of an ass he was to Eli and other people and feeling really bad and trying to start making amends and be a better person.
