I’ve seen a huge increase of minors casually posting, talking about and interacting with NSFW stuff publicly in fandom spaces and it’s kind of worrying. (Specifically in a couple fandoms I’m in right now, but this is quite universal so I’m going to keep it that way for this post.) It’s all good if you want to talk about it in a private space with other minors around your age, (no I do not mean discord servers where it’s all ages) it’s so much safer if you really want to talk about that stuff. However, publicly, where there are adults who can interact with what you’re posting about, you have to be so incredibly careful. Especially if you’re a minor who does not have that they’re a minor in their bio.

Minors should not be doing things like posting nsfw/‘freaky’ art, posting or commenting on smut fics, kink talking, etc. Especially when you’re posting in spaces typically SFW.

I’m not trying to sound like a buzzkill here, but adults and minors should NOT be talking or interacting with one another about things sexual in nature. You have to be so careful on the internet, coming from someone who did these things when I was a minor and has huge regret. It may seem like nothing now, but it can lead to some really horrible things happening if you’re not careful.

You may think that you’re more mature than you are, but I promise that you are not. Stuff is 18+ for a reason. While you may not be old enough for the content, you are old enough to think about what you are posting about or interacting with publicly. It’s for your own safety. Adults also have a responsibility to make sure that anything NSFW they post is in the appropriate spaces and appropriately tagged and to not interact in this manner with minors.

I cannot tell you what to do, and I know it’s not going to stop just because some random person on the internet said so, it just leaves me worried.
