on the point of including black people in the show (or any period show), a lot of the outrage can sometimes come across as performative to me. it's one thing to feel upset about how little screentime black characters get compared to white characters (a valid criticism, believe me, I Know! give me an hour and i could talk your ear off about how this constantly annoys me as a black person who's damned to enjoy period pieces), but it's another to Only get upset while not actually creating content for said black characters, Especially when fandom (not just hbo war, but in general) is famous for taking Extremely minor characters and creating entire worlds with them, to the point where you wouldn't know they're minor characters at all until you check out the source yourself. richard macon, alexander jefferson, and robert daniels each have only 20 or less posts about them (at the time of publishing this post). in my own fandom experience (within fandoms both big and small and old and new, whatever), i've seen more content (posts, art pieces, analyses, fics, etc) made for minor white characters in less than a mere week's time (it's not a competiton lol i'm just giving a perspective here). so idk. obviously, there's nothing anyone here can do about a show that's already been filmed and released. we got what we got. thas it. at least in the great wide world of fandom, you can actually do something about it, turning the big into small. there's precedent for that. otherwise it just feels like complaining for the sake of complaining

I love how Wild Kratts lies on both ends of the spectrum of cultural relevance; On one end it raised a decade’s worth of an entire generation on biology knowledge, its animal activism inspired a scientist to name an insect after the Kratt Bros, is part of a quarter-century line-up of several different shows which have paved the path for the Kratt Brothers’ cultural impact on of itself, inspired a lot of furries, has a massive online following, and is one of the most top-rated PBS Kids shows to date; On the other end, it’s on a smaller network, is incredibly hard to pirate, is overlooked massively due to being a part of an ‘edutainment‘ channel aimed towards younger kids, has a fandom which, whilst big, can be very hard to find, and overall has less mainstream appeal in comparison to shows like SpongeBob, My Little Pony, or even The Simpsons.

I saw the Blue Angels documentary last night (the one produced by Glen Powell & JJ Abrams) and it was amazing! Several of the shots of them flying really made me feel like I was right there in the cockpit. And let me tell you, there is a HUGE difference in reading that they fly 18 inches apart and actually seeing them fly that close. The skill these pilots have is just incredible. And a heads up, that if you were like me and thought it was going to be narrated by Glen or have him in it at any point, you will be slightly disappointed. It's not a narrated documentary and you only see Glen for a few moments when he's talking about the Blue Angels Foundation charity right before the movie starts. Despite that, it was still a fantastic documentary and now I need someone to make one about the Air Force Thunderbirds! 😄 Also, do yourself a favor and try to see it in true IMAX if possible and not that faux digital IMAX places like AMC has. Blue Angels deserves to been seen in all of it's 70mm glory.

I’m going to be binging Step By Step after I wrap up Make It Right 2 tonight. I’m so here for it. I really thought I couldn’t do it with work and life commitments, but I’ll make it work. In the words of @shortpplfedup, I’m ready to watch a show made by adults, for adults, about adult topics.
But also -- today’s Big Commentary about BL fans complaining hard enough about their fake ships to get an actual show edited is just....
Some of them need to go back to school for art comprehension lessons. Learn to read between the lines. Lemme just leave this here.

Hi sorry if you’ve answered this before but do you know the “correct” way to watch all rvb content? I recently found out there’s like, bonus episodes outside of the main seasons and have no idea what order I’m supposed to be watching everything in. I’m doing a rewatch soon with my partner and just wanted to know if you knew, no worries if not!
yeah sure!
so what i'm guessing you're probably asking is about is the miniseries. the first two pretty much need to be watched for the plot in my opinion
seasons 1-4
out of mind miniseries
season 5
recovery one miniseries
season 6
relocated miniseries
seasons 7-9
MIA and WTAWTAW miniseries (two of them!)
season 10-onwards
there's also the chorus journals that take place before season 11 (these are technically a miniseries i think). bonus points if you include journal #4 which rt lamely left out of the compilation
if youre ever confused i recommend just looking up your current season on the rvb wiki, and the bottom of the infobox will let you know if theres a miniseries to be watched next
NEW EDIT: THERE ARE ALSO TRAILERS FOR THE SEASONS THAT INCLUDE ADDITIONAL CONTENT. These are like, dubiously canon, the RVB9 one in particular gets retconned pretty heavily, but should still be watched before their seasons. Here’s the ones that actually have original content and aren’t just montages of moments from the season.
reconstruction trailer (rvb6) / recreation trailer (rvb7) / rvb9 trailer / rvb12 trailer / rvb13 trailer
(also because i am so autistic: there’s also the original trailer that, iirc, was made like 6 months before they actually started making the series. it doesn’t really have a ton to do with what rvb would become but it’s definitely a cool artifact.)
(there’s also this rvb10 trailer which doesnt have anything new but is charming enough i want to save it on this post anyways, as well as this fanmade rvb13 trailer set to the chain by fleetwood mac that im obsessed with). END EDIT
the next layer of interpreting "all" rvb content includes the psas. psas are extra canonical content where the "actors" from the popular webseries red vs blue talk to the audience about a given subject. there's a few psa videos that were created alongside each season, but they can be watched whenever since they have no effect on the plot. i dont actually know of a good playlist for these this one seems to have the most videos. i think some psas might actually be lost media rn last i checked i should see if i can do anything about that
finally there's also deleted scenes and general rvb bonus content exists (like the end of season 5 which had several alternate joke endings) if you're interested in watching that. the person who uploaded journal #4 seems to have uploaded a lot of that and (sighs) hopefully i'll have some of that stuff up myself soon in a google drive or something
EDIT: forgot that i’d also consider this deleted rvb scene mandatory content. it was only cut because burnie made the decision that he didn’t want to mention tex too many times in season 6 in order to make it a better entry point for new fans. i think this was a horrible idea honestly and the added context about why church changed his mind at the end of the season is fantastic
