Me vs. ChatGPT: An experiment!
I, an actual person and hobby writer, have written a bit of story. I asked ChatGPT write something to the same prompt. I'll post both below and add a poll so anyone can vote what you think is written by me, or by GPT. I would be very interested in your reasoning as to why. I got the idea to do this from @tjhalebooks, if you want to check out their poll too. The prompt: Eila is a healer and she's awoken in the middle of the night by a knock on her door. Four students are carrying a fifth who is unconscious and they've come for her help.
Version 1:
The knock came in the middle of the night and startled Eila from a dreamless sleep. It was unusual, though not unheard of, for her to receive patients at this hour. She had a sign posted at her door, urging people to come to her between midmorning and sundown, unless it was a life or death emergency.
Realizing that someone must be in dire need of help, she quickly put on her favourite woollen nightgown, lit a candle with a whispered spell and hurried down the stairs.
She entered her parlour which she used as a praxis and quickly lit a few more candles. She twisted her hair into a quick braid and went to answer the door.
Outside stood five people. Two men and one women, carrying another woman who was clearly unconscious.
„What happened?“, asked Eila, ushering them inside even as she took in the situation.
There was no blood on the unconscious woman, but she hadn‘t awoken from being dragged around, so something must be wrong. She was pale, but not unhealthily so, her dark hair stood in stark contrast to her skin. The four didn’t look like her usual clientel. They were all young adults, probably around her own age, all clean and neatly groomed. One of them, a shorter man with glasses, wore a uniform jacket, a dark purple with silver buttons and stitchings. Of course, they were from the upper city and probably all students of the Academy.
But if they were nobles, what on earth were they doing coming to her instead of going to a physician?
The four carried the unconscious woman inside and lay her down on the mat in the parlor when Eila gestured them to it.
“She touched something and then she fell down and hasn’t woken up since.”, one of the girls explained. She had curly red hair and seemed the calmest in the situation, though none of them were panicking. The boy with glasses pulled something out of his pocket. It was wrapped in cloth, but as he unwrapped it a small silver flask came to light.
“Where was this?”, Eila asked, taking the flask from the boy, taking care not to touch it. She hovered her other hand over it, reaching out with her senses. It didn’t feel especially dangerous. There were traces of magic on it, but whatever spell had been on it was gone now. She touched it. The boy gasped. Nothing happened. Eila handed him his piece of cloth back and studied the flask more.
Version 2:
Eila was deep in sleep when the knock at the door came, sharp and insistent, slicing through the heavy stillness of the night. Her heart jolted, and she sat up, disoriented, the quiet of her small cottage pressing in around her. It took a moment for the fog of sleep to lift, and when it did, a sense of urgency thrummed in the air. The knock came again, more frantic this time, as if someone—or something—couldn't wait.
She pushed aside the thick blankets and swung her feet onto the cool wooden floor. Her hands, still numb with the sleep of exhaustion, moved quickly to light the lantern beside her bed. As the flame flickered to life, she instinctively reached for her healer’s pouch—a collection of herbs, salves, and vials she always kept close by. Whoever had come at this hour needed her skill, and she could already feel the weight of it settling into her bones.
When she opened the door, the cold night air rushed in, carrying with it the smell of damp earth and sweat. Four young students from the nearby academy stood there, their faces pale and strained under the flickering torchlight. They were carrying a fifth—one of their own—who lay limp and unconscious in their arms, his body sagging unnaturally between them. His breathing was shallow, each exhale a soft, ragged wheeze.
"Eila!" one of them, a tall boy named Jorin, gasped, his voice trembling. "Please, we need your help. It's Kyren… he's—"
He didn’t finish the sentence, his eyes wide with panic. Eila stepped aside without a word, her practiced hands already moving to guide them inside. The students were trembling, barely able to hold the unconscious boy steady. She could feel the weight of their fear, and something else—a creeping unease that slithered up her spine.
As she knelt beside Kyren, her hands instinctively reached for his forehead. His skin was hot, feverish, but it wasn’t just fever that made him burn. There was something wrong beneath the surface—something that tugged at the edges of her senses, pulling her into a place she’d never wanted to go.
"What happened?" she asked, her voice calm despite the rising tide of urgency in her chest.
"He was fine, Eila," another student, Maren, whispered. "We were practicing… in the woods, just outside the academy walls. But then… something happened. He collapsed, and when we tried to wake him, it was like he… he was being pulled somewhere. We couldn’t stop him."
Eila’s mind raced. The woods outside the academy were old, ancient even, and there were rumors—whispers of things better left undisturbed. She had warned the students countless times about venturing too far from the safety of the academy grounds. But it was too late now. Kyren’s life—and perhaps their own—was in her hands.

That viral post that's going around about how people who write "book quality" mlm fic are too "normal" to publish and have real jobs so only "weird" people publish their "shitty" fanfic is so completely out of touch with reality and I am giving a massive side eye to everyone reblogging it.
Not only is it completely, easily verifiably untrue (you cannot enter any professional writing space without tripping over a dozen grizzled scifi writers who got their start by filing off the serial numbers and publishing their Star Trek fanfic even going back decades ago??? it's a whole thing?? plus how can you look at the mlm category on Amazon right now and say with a straight face that people aren't publishing shitty Spirk and Stucky fanfic??? Oh, honey...) it's also the perfect example of this kind of sneering elitism that true artists would never sully themselves by seeking profit, they do it only for the purity of the thing that always somehow leads back to, "no one should be paid to make art, actually."
The only reason you're seeing more published fanfic right now has nothing to do with the idealistic purity of your hypothetical government employee written smut of the past vs the debased scribbles of those awful straights of today and everything to do with the fact that a) self-publishing has created a voracious readership that wants a ton of content so it's become a viable, flexible income stream for many, especially disabled people b) anyone can publish now with self-publishing tools so there are less gatekeepers and c) lockdown got a lot of people into fandom and therefore writing who never tried it before.
And if you really think there's no "shitty" published mlm and no "book-quality" m/f writing out there that started as fanfic, then you are clearly not a reader so why are you even talking about this?
#love how they manipulated people into spreading that post by making it seem like a cishet vs gay thing#when the real message is OP thinks trying to sell your writing is cringe and 'weird' and 'normal people' with jobs would never#which would of course never have flown on the fandom website#so they played into the queer shipping is purer than cishet shipping puriteen thing#and it worked!#because my god people are gullible#this is the direct pipeline that leads to AI thievery#''normal' people write for the joy of it anyway so why do you need pay? you are just greedy and 'weird'!'#'oh no this isn't about who we get to call cringe and who gets to profit from art it's about um...#(quick what's a hated m/f ship?).. oh uh 'shitty' REYLO#and not our super pure uh... (spirk is still popular right? lets throw in that avengers one too to make it seem timely) stucky!'#I'm sorry if I have no sense of humor about this but the year is 2024 and people are still way too ready to sneer#about writers trying to earn a fucking living in the shittiest timeline#and i need you to look deep into yourself and ask you why it's so important to you to tell yourself that only people writing what you like#are 'normal' with real jobs and to vilify everyone else as 'weird' and 'shitty'#for trying to make an income during a financial fucking crisis#i would say sorry for ranting about this but I'm not sorry because wtf#write whatever you want#publish whatever you want#there is no moral fucking purity in what the content is#and one thing certainly doesn't make you more 'weird' or 'normal' than the other#like there is soooo much shitty mlm that started as fanfic???#that post is 100% OP made up some guys to get mad about and called them relyos for the clicks#writing#publishing#writblr#writeblr#i wasn't going to tag this anything but you know what fuck it I'm mad#i had like 5 more tags but tumblr cut me off which is fair 😅#fan fiction

You know how I know that AI will never be able to create like a human? Whether that be painting or writing or film-making?
Because no computer, no algorithm, no matter how good, can tell a story like a human can.
Shakespeare wrote his most famous tragedies from the mire of grief from losing his son to the plague. Oscar Wilde's "A Picture of Dorian Gray" had such overtly homosexual themes that the book was literally used against him when he was on trial. The shock and horror of 9/11 inspired My Chemical Romance to come together and capture the sense of disillusionment of young people at the time. Hozier today writes his songs expressing what it means to be an increasingly fascist world while still holding an enduring love of humanity. Arthur Miller wrote "The Crucible" using the witch hunts as a thinly veiled allegory to criticize McCarthyism in the 50s, a play that did, in fact have him persecuted for "contempt of congress". An entire period of Picasso's art was noticeably influenced by the suicide of his friend, but he also had other works that were inspired by his various love affairs.
If you still think AI could eventually create like that, you're missing the point. You think it's about skill, you think it's just about craft. We're aware that AI can learn any skill, excel at craft. But a story isn't the words you use, or the events that happened; a story is the person that tells it and the beauty they felt that they share with you when you experience the art. Because art itself isnt about the perfection of its presentation, its the messiness of the human experience. Your AI has no life, it has no story, it can make as many esthetically pleasing works as you want, but it cannot make art.

Don’t you love it when you’re making a friend group for a story, you have two solid characters, but you want one more, so you give one of them a sibling… and they look NOTHING alike, but, you have zero problem with that and just kinda end up laughing at it?
Meet Edgard (red haired boy) and Alicia (blonde girl) Wolf! The siblings in the friend group of a guy who got kidnapped and turned into a living weapon whumpee!
We’ll put it this way: Edgard takes after his mom in hair+eye color, and Lucia takes after her dad in hair+eye color, but they both have their dad’s fiery and protective personality.
Also yes, this art is almost most definitely AI generated, I jumped on Pinterest searched “[hair color] Anime [boy/girl]” so I could get an idea of what I want my characters to look like..

I just finished a rewatch of s13 of red versus blue and it's so crazy to me that the show kind of majorly diverted in plot after the finale
I really hope s19 and the retcon finally give us what I feel like it was all leading up to: epsilon fracturing into the other AIs and each of the reds and blues getting one. in church's monologue it seemed so clear to me that he was planning to break himself up into those individual pieces - the others even appear when he says as much! but then s15 (after the hiatus season) just has epsilon gone, having left nothing behind. when the season 13 finale originally aired I was so pumped bc I assumed we would get something I'd been wanting since like season 6, which is for the main characters to get AIs themselves and armor enhancements. maybe not permanently, but I always thought it was a missed opportunity to once again highlight the difference between Project Freelancer and the sim troopers. and also it would have opened up so many opportunities for new jokes. really hope s19 goes that route

Mirror of the soul
Stroke after stroke, the image was coming to life. It didn’t look quite right yet – too flat, without highlights nor shadows to  emphasise shapes and features – but nothing did, at this stage. There were mistakes and fumbles here and there, but less than there had been when they started out and none too drastic it couldn’t be reworked.
It was a flawed piece. It was beautiful nonetheless.
It was theirs – an expression of their deepest feelings, the true eye of their soul. Like looking into a lake and seeing themselves in the water. Slightly distorted, picture modelled by water and air, paint and brush, but still, unmistakably, them.
Click after click, the image was coming to life. One prompt after the other, one picture chosen over another, ideas coming to life from mere few words and choices.
The images were not perfect – but they did not care. They were pretty enough, eye-catching, cute or provocative. They looked real.
And if it looked uncannily like another… who cared, right?
People would still click on it, avid for their next dopamine input, and clicks were money.
The artist set out to work.
Somewhere, multiple someones got their art stolen.
And nobody cared.
AN:
I'd like to add that not every AI artist is like this. AI can be a wonderful tool, but it is built on stolen pieces of art and texts, artists and writers who did not agree to have their art used for this purpose and whose creativity is now used by the big corporations who created the AIs in the first place!
I am not against people commissioning art to AI. What I do not like is big corporations stealing from artists and using AI to undermine them. Writers in the USA are striking - and for good reason. But if big film industries can use AI to write even while they are gone... why should they pay them better?

As an artist and writer, I am wholeheartedly sticking my dick out into this conversation to say shut the fuck up.
AI isn't evil, but a tool, and how it is used is up to the humans who have the power over it. It can be a wonderful source of ideas and inspiration if you need suggestions to get your own creative juices flowing. But getting mad at AI just because the people who have no talent are being lazy bitches is like getting mad at the shopping carts when nobody puts them away and leaves them out in the parking lot where they smack into cars from the wind.
The shopping cart just existed man.
I think our solution should instead, be to publicly shame those who do the shady shit.
Being toxic to toxic individuals is a proactive mode of bullying that I endorse wholeheartedly, so long as you actually do the research first into a situation and don't just auto-aggro like the dumbshits on Twitter.
Tumblr media
kind of wanna reinforce this here. because i’ve seen ai writing become so popular on tik tok.
ai writing is not okay.
it’s literally theft. just like how ai art steals, ai writing steals. it’s using authors’ very real work to generate whatever you type in. and this also needs to be said as well.
writing is a form of art. fanfiction is a form of literature.
seeing this all over my fyp is REALLY discouraging. fanfic itself is already a labor of love and we love it when you interact. but please do not use ai writing for your fanfic needs when this writing literally steals from fanfic authors.
genuinely don’t know if this post will go around because my interactions outside of hcs are shit, but i hope it does.

Comparative Analysis: Android vs. iOS - Choosing the Right Operating System for You
Android vs iOS
In this Blog we will discuss and see which operating system is best for you why Android is best for you or why iOS is best for you. we will see which operating system has more features and more secure and user friendly.
Introduction:
With both operating systems offering distinctive features and functionalities, choosing the one that best suits your needs and preferences is essential in the always changing world of smartphones. In this in-depth comparative analysis, we examine the salient features of both Android and iOS, highlighting their advantages and disadvantages to assist you in making an informed choice.
Tumblr media
User Interface and Customization:
The user interface is frequently the first point of contact between you and your device, and both Android and iOS take different approaches to it. Open-source software giant Android offers a wide range of customization options, including widgets, different home screen layouts, and personalized themes. iOS, on the other hand, keeps its interface simple and consistent across all devices.
App Eco-System:
The app ecosystem is essential to optimizing the functionality of your device. The Google Play Store and the App Store for iOS both have millions of applications, but the selection differs. Android is known for being more open, meaning that a wider variety of apps are available, but iOS is known for having more stringent app quality standards, meaning that the selection is more carefully chosen and frequently more polished.
Device Variety and Hardware Integration:
Whereas iOS is limited to Apple devices and allows for seamless hardware and software integration, Android is synonymous with diversity, offering a wide range of devices from different manufacturers that cater to different budgets and preferences. Whether you prioritize device options or seek a unified ecosystem will determine which option is best for you.
Security and Privacy:
Users of smartphones are always concerned about security, and both Android and iOS have put strong security measures in place. Apple's closed ecosystem and rigorous app approval process help create a secure environment, but Android's open nature gives users more control. Still, Android has improved security significantly with frequent updates and features like Google Play Protect.
Update and Support:
Operating system updates are necessary for security, bug fixes, and new feature access. iOS is the best in these areas as Apple automatically pushes updates to all compatible devices at the same time. Android updates might take longer, as they depend on the carrier and manufacturer of the device. Regular updates are also important for the longevity and functionality of your device.
Conclusion:
There is no right or wrong answer in the Android vs. iOS debate; in the end, it comes down to personal preferences, priorities, and the features that are most important to you. Whether you prefer the customization of Android or the seamless integration of iOS, knowing the subtle differences between the two operating systems gives you the power to make an informed choice. Take into account your priorities, lifestyle, and preferences to decide which OS will work best for you and ensure a seamless and satisfying smartphone experience.

This is probably a lot more just me watching way more movie video essays than movies but I think we can come out of this era of devalued storytelling understanding art better than ever. Like I guess by nature you can only get so much depth from anything made for the mainstream super broad appeal, but as someone who was into cinemasins and tvtropes type stuff in high school I think as a society its not for nothing for people to have started asking pedantic questions about things that happen in a movie, and then see the movie industry react as if theyre trying not to have those questions asked, and have people go "ohhh maybe all that stuff isn't the point of the story that we're really here for. What are we really here for" and in a way we thought the answer to that was "we want character complexity" and the movie/tv industry answered that with characters who are a little too self aware of their problems in a way that also is kind of what we "asked" for but not what we really need.
Like this is simultaneously a failure of how media literacy is taught and art under capitalism blindly seeking what audiences want through trial and error, but I think its valuable to see for yourself why something is needed by seeing what happens when you strip away what you thought was unnecessary.

How is AI content writing better than human content writing as per Google SERP ranking?
Tumblr media
Introduction
In the dynamic world of digital marketing, staying ahead of the competition requires a deep understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) and the factors that influence Google SERP rankings. One emerging trend is the utilization of AI content writing to enhance search engine visibility. In this blog, we will explore how AI content writing surpasses human content writing in terms of improving Google SERP rankings.
Unleashing the Power of Keyword Optimization
Keywords play a vital role in SEO, as they help search engines understand the context and relevance of content. While humans can conduct keyword research, AI content writing takes it to a whole new level. AI algorithms analyze extensive data sets, identify commonly searched keywords, and effectively incorporate them into the content. This optimized approach enhances the chances of ranking higher on Google SERPs.
2. Crafting Highly Relevant and Engaging Content
Meeting user intent is paramount when it comes to climbing the SERP ladder. AI-generated content has the ability to analyze user behavior, search trends, and preferences, thereby generating highly relevant and tailored content. By understanding user queries and providing comprehensive answers, AI content writing ensures that the content resonates with the audience, ultimately leading to improved rankings.
3. Elevating Readability and Structural Excellence
Content that is easy to read, well-structured, and formatted appropriately tends to rank higher on SERPs. While humans strive for these qualities, AI content writing has the advantage of learning from patterns in successful content. This results in AI-generated content that excels in readability, adheres to the optimal structure, and boosts the overall user experience. Search engines, including Google, reward such content with better rankings.
4. Achieving Consistency and Scalability
Consistency is crucial in establishing a brand identity and delivering a unified experience to users. AI content writing maintains a consistent writing style, tone, and brand voice across a large volume of content. Moreover, AI algorithms can generate content at an impressive speed, enabling scalability in content creation. The ability to produce vast amounts of optimized content in a short span gives AI an edge over human writers, benefiting SERP rankings.
5. Embracing Data-Driven Optimization
AI content writing relies on data-driven insights to continuously refine its strategies. By analyzing user behavior, search patterns, and emerging trends, AI algorithms adapt the content creation process to maximize SEO performance. This data-driven approach enables AI-generated content to bridge content gaps, target new opportunities, and align with evolving search engine algorithms. Consequently, the content is more likely to rank higher on SERPs.
Conclusion
AI content writing represents a paradigm shift in the world of SEO and SERP ranking. Through its ability to optimize keywords, craft highly relevant content, improve readability, ensure consistency, and embrace data-driven insights, AI content writing offers advantages that surpass human content writing in terms of boosting Google SERP rankings. However, it is important to recognize that human involvement still plays a significant role, as human writers can bring unique perspectives, creativity, and emotional intelligence to the table. The most effective approach combines the strengths of AI and human content writing to achieve optimal results in terms of SERP ranking and user engagement.
