my school has made it very clear that anybody that uses any kind of ai for help with assignments or papers or tests or anything will be hauled in front of the academic integrity board and probably expelled for plagiarism, which i think is a fantastic way to crack down on this nightmare. (the only exception might be if you’re some kind of computer science student and you’re actually working with ai as part of an assignment or something, but i’m not in comp sci so that doesn’t really affect me at all)

yknow i try not to despair. i try not to despair about ai. but my god. again i go to ART SCHOOL i am an ILLUSTRATION MAJOR. the prompt for the homework for today's class was and i quote "use your imagination and create a project in a form of your own invention." DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY OF MY CLASSMATES OPENLY ARE SAYING THEY ASKED CHATGPT FOR PROMPTS/COLORS/DESCRIPTIONS/LITERALLY FUCKING FED THEIR OWN ARTWORK TO IT????? FIVE. FIVE SEPARATE PEOPLE.

‼️‼️‼️⚠️‼️‼️‼️AI ACCOUNTS ARE STEALING PEOPLE’S WORK‼️‼️‼️⚠️‼️‼️‼️

I was scrolling through tumblr and noticed some very familiar art popping up with no captions at all, so I checked the 3 profiles these posts were coming from. 2 of these accounts had similar names, and I can say for sure that 2 of them had ai generated profile pictures and descriptions. I know that 2 of them also had the same exact descriptions. These accounts have been spamming stolen sonadow themed art— they aren’t reposting them, and they aren’t credited. When I try and report them, google keeps saying there’s an error. It might not work on iOS and I don’t have access to a computer. (Also, 2 of these account names have ‘crush’ in them, and all of them have ‘02’ at the end, so be on the lookout for similar named accounts.)

These are screenshots I took of these accounts showing up in my ‘tags’ feed. If anyone can, please report these “people”. We don’t need tumblr turning into the new facebook, with half of the stuff on the platform just being Ai generated slop.

I'm sure most of ya already knew this. 💚 I try to do the best I can at reducing my carbon footprint but companies make it so hard these days and they shouldn't. They should have options to opt out of using as much AI as you can or all of it. And to the people who don't know this and think like Trump where you're gonna get "beachfront properties" 🤦‍♀️...I hate to tell you this but that's not what is going to happen. What will happen is MASSIVE sinkholes, tsunami's, earthquakes, wildfires, volcanic eruptions, severe winds and rain and snow; it's not just a rise or decrease in water. It can cause an environmental apocalypse that will reduce the world to nothing but rubble.

Generative AI is bad no matter what

This includes:

Using Character AI to replace human interaction

Using image generators as “a joke”

Using text generators to write for you or make fanfic for you

Using AI to solve math problems for you

Using those tv show filters on TikTok

Copying or interacting with Googles AI

It’s fine if some people are unaware of the damage of AI, but if you KNOW the issues and still use it you are the problem

The problem with Nightshade with regard to tumblr potentially selling us out to AI is that you can't protect any un-Nightshaded work that has already been reblogged from your OP. That stuff's out there, and you're not going to be able to track it all down and deal with it retroactively.

However.

Nightshade your old stuff anyway and repost it so that any future reblogs are poisoned, but especially Nightshade anything new before posting it. That way all the reblogs of your new work will be poisoned from the start.

I am so sick of seeing ai everywhere. When I go to search something on instagram it wants me to search with ai. When I use a search engine like google the first result is auto generated ai. When I’m scrolling through google images I see pictures that are clearly ai generated. Copilot ai is in computers. They’re making phones with an ai button. And now I’m seeing ads for ai music on tumblr.

And I can’t get rid of it. There’s no off switch on instagram or google. I just want it gone.

"I can't make OCs without AI"

That is the stupidest excuse to say you are lazy. You don't even have to be a decent artist to create OCs. There are so many other ways that you can make OCs, which generally support other artists.

Commissions, Picrew, Gacha Life, Ibispaint, The Sims, Roblox, any Nikki game, and plenty of websites and other apps can help you create OCs.

AI steals artist's works to power itself, which is plagiarism at the end of the day. To put it simply: DON'T USE AI FOR OCS!

AI Scraping Opt-Out Instructions

For folks who might be having a hard time finding the AI opt-out toggle, here's a guide.

First, click on the settings link in your blog's sidebar.

You will arrive at the main settings page. Go to the bottom of the right-hand sidebar and click on the link that has your avatar.

This will bring you to your main settings page. It will look something like this (right-hand side has been blocked out for privacy reasons):

Scroll down in that middle column until you get to the section marked "visibility" and toggle "prevent third-party sharing."
