deeply unsettling that one of the world’s biggest art competitions awarded (and has since rescinded) an honorable mention to a blatant piece of AI art, while at the same time praising “the return to skill-based art” on all of their promotional materials. it’s almost as if. they don’t actually care about the craft, but upholding supremacist ideas about art making and what it should look like

Exactly. I'd say the project would have more value if those "books" were designed to sit in IKEA shelves in those living-room dioramas the company is well-known for, but alas...

I mean, if I want to buy a fake book, I'll just hit up Amazon for a book-based gag gift for probably a lot cheaper than those AI-generated books are going to sell for.

I will not speak to AI art as a disability accessibility tool but I WILL say that most of the arguments about AI making art 'accessible' aren't about providing assistance to the disabled but rather making it more 'accessible' to break into the art market and make a boatload of money without having to. yknow. learn how to make art or anything about the creative workflow

Heya! Just wanted to drop by and say it's nice and oddly reassuring to see someone else (especially an artist of your caliber) using glaze as well!
