So all my life, my grandpa has been kinda regaled as this epic kung-fu master. He’s always talking about all the fights he was in and all the things he’s done and teaching us katas and whatever, and he was a kung-fu instructor for years back before he joined the navy.
and I guess we all just assumed he learned it while he was growing up in Hong Kong, ‘cuz he dealt with a lotta stuff like that back there. (Like seriously he was living like those kids in The Outsiders.) But one day I asked my dad “hey, where did Ye Ye learn kung-fu?” (We call him Ye Ye ‘cuz that’s how ya say grandpa in Chinese lol fyi)
and my dad paused and thought about, and then said “Huh. I dunno.”
So after years of wondering, a few months ago I finally asked Ye Ye.
And ya know what this guy says?
“Well, when I was a kid, my buddy went to these kung-fu lessons. But the thing was…they were really stupid.”
and I was like “Huh? What d’ya mean?”
“I mean they were lame. Seriously lame. And I thought ‘ai ya, this is for nerds’, and I never went back there.
“Anyhow, then in the 70s I came to the states for university, as you know…and there was this real big meat head of a guy who I didn’t like, because he was real obnoxious. So I fought him,” Ye Ye said casually. (Now keep in mind, this is the guy who’s been telling ME that I’M too much of a hothead all my life. And what’s more is that Ye Ye is NOT a big guy- he’s never been an inch over 5’4.)
“How’d that go?” I said weakly.
“Well it went great, and a whole crowd came to watch. So when the dust settled and I won the fight, folks started asking how I’d done it- so you know, I said it was the art of kung-fu.”
“And they believed it?!” I said, knowing that was a dumb question as I asked it- the guy was Chinese in Wisconsin in the 70s. They believed all Chinese people did kung-fu.
“Sure they did. So then I started getting people asking for lessons, and I figured ‘hey I could use the money’…”
At this point, Ye Ye was grinning so hard that he could barely get a word out.
“So you don’t know kung-fu?!” I said, feeling like my whole life was a lie.
“I took one class,” Ye Ye protested. “I never said HOW MUCH I knew…”
My father, looking on with eyes wide as saucers, managed to croak out “You mean…you just…made it up? After all this TIME? Why didn’t you tell us?!”
Ye Ye shrugged. “You never asked.”
And I guess that’s how he became a kung-fu instructor.
TL;DR: My grandfather has scammed both his whole family and one university in Wisconsin into thinking that he is a kung-fu master for most of me and my father’s lives. Never even thought to let us know. The man’s a legend, I gotta admit. I don’t always like him, but damn he’s sure a character.
#rambling#personal stuff#kung fu#martial arts#family history#talking#personal lore lol#funny#another great story ‘bout ye ye is the time he drove as fast as he could from Washington State to Los Angeles#just so that he could confiscate my then 20 year old father’s new motorcycle…ah man old people sure are somethin

you said it was cool to invade your ask box so here goes
I’m going to tell you about the Natalia rp blog shenanigans in planning. They involve Dottore and you like Dottore. And Natalia is connected to Dottore.
get ready to read a yap.
so apparently Sheznevna is going to die?? Well die and then rebirth but like with no memories. But how would she know what Natalia’s up to? Natalia shooed everyone away before taking out the bird power armor mech thing for testing. Would Sheznevna relearn about Natalia or would Etoiles keep her far away from Natalia?
And how did Etoiles, Afzal, and Wanderer find her? They only knew she was in liyue with Sheznevna. Did they use Wanderer to try to nsniff her out? Sniff out the Dottore vibes lmao.
Also who will be the one to tell the Fatui that Natalia’s “dead”. She’s not actually dead she’s just in jail/hospital/psych ward for her medical malpractice and to recover from the injuries of the boss fight. But to the Fatui she would have to be told she’s dead so they don’t go finding her.
Dottore intends to go find her, he doesn’t believe she’s dead, and put her back under his control so there will be a moment where she stands up to him for her freedom and makes him acknowledge how much power she has over him. I mean she makes his prosthetic organs after all. But who’s going to inform him. And if she’s locked away how is he going to find her?
also imagine Natalia being so sad and alone during this rehab that she makes herself a “get well soon” card pretending it’s from Dottore. She can fake his handwriting and personality pretty well, she’s a dottore segment after all.
I need to draw the bird mech thing fr fr
Boss form Natalia when she’s about to Get You.
*snatches swooping birdtalia out of the air and pets* there there, I'm sure the blueprint misses you. And anyway, he doesn't deserve you.
"sniff out the dottore vibes" had me cackling ngl
would rehab work on a segment? probably, but how well is the question
#there's a lot of lore here to unlock- I am impressed#also your introduction had me physically nodding along like “yes these statements are true” lmao#ah good old rp blogs; man it's been so long since i've seen any#screaming at the murder

“Zhongli, you literally look like the Geo Archon statue. How come nobody’s suspected anything?”
“Trust me my dear, I have been questioned once.” Zhongli smiles in amusement at the memory.
He recounts to you a time when he had first taken on this form as Zhongli of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, and was wandering around the outskirts of the harbor. A young man stopped him, squinting at Zhongli’s handsome (and very ostentatiously amber -eyed) countenance. Zhongli recognised him as one of his coworkers, and greeted him.
The man, ignoring his greeting, instead told him pointedly, “You look a lot like Rex Lapis, you know. From the statues around Liyue.”
Zhongli merely tilted his head with a soft chuckle. “Rex Lapis dons a hood. How could you discern such a far-fetched thing?”
The coworker, shaking his head, continued, “And your eyes are shiny and golden. Like Rex Lapis in his stories.”
“That is merely my natural brown eye colour enhanced a faint golden thanks to my Geo vision.” Despite himself, Zhongli’s heartbeat gets a tad faster.
“And you’re quite knowledgeable on things even my grandpa can’t know!” exclaims the other man, exasperated. “Obscure bits of lore even seasoned historians are confounded by! No to mention you’ve got this…old aura about you. Like you’re wayyy older than we all think. It’s like…you’re…”
Zhongli has the faintest of a frown on his face as he sees the fellow’s accusatory look. “Go on.”
“You must be…”
Zhongli thought he should remove human feelings of nervousness from his bodily constitution altogether. A single bead of sweat materialised on his forehead as he waited for the man’s answer.
“…You must be a really, really big fan of Rex Lapis!”
His lungs deflated in a huge sigh of relief. “Ah yes…yes, that may be the case. Yes, I am indeed a devout follower of Rex Lapis.”

I didnt expect to see Octavio in the Grandfest...and neither did 3, for that matter.
In my interp of the lore, Inkadia is aware of who he is. 3 and the platoon have been fighting for years with the Inkadian powers that be to recognize Octaria as a legitimate nation, for it to be held in equal regard.
That day finally came on the Grandfest. Or at least, the beginnings of it, anyway.
More on the two's convo below!
"Hm! |...Sir Octavio! Im...surprised to see you here.|"
"What. You think Octaria doesnt deserve to celebrate the biggest event in the continent alongside you squits?"
"|No! No! Im...|" they chuckle, a smile breaking across ther face. "|...glad to see that you made it!
But I dont remember arranging a pass for you...|"
"Aah. Well. Your old man pulled some strings. That, and the Inkadian and Splatlandian powers that be invited me themself."
Now 3s surprised. "|...Really?|"
"Mhm. I brought the dome-dwellers up here with me. Look around! Didnt you notice them in your matches?"
Are they dreaming?
They never noticed them at all. It wasnt even like there was much of a difference. For months there have been an increase of migrators and visitors. Allowed to turf. Allowed to stay. Allowed to...
Live in the sunshine.
They stagger, which made the Octarian king hold out a tentacle to steady them. "You alright, bucko?"
3 nods. "|A-a little overwhelmed, thats all.
All those patrols. All those deserters I helped to assimilate. All that struggle they had to go through to escape Octaria-
And now, its just...so...|"
"Easy?"
3 nods again, silently.
"Mmmm. I'll admit though, not everyone is keen on just letting people explore. Not everyone was keen on coming up here for this festival, either.
...too much, has happened for them to trust Inkadia again."
3 hangs their head low. He held their chin and made them look up again.
"...But you. You and your platoon of hooligans. Youve been changing that. You are Inkadians that went the extra mile in understanding us. Listening to us, respecting our decisions. Allowing us to rule our nation as we wished.
It means...a lot. More than you know.
To the point where even those who dont trust Inkadia are at least respecting it from a distance now."
The conversation is cut short by a couple of young Inkfish kids.
"Oaah...its the Octarian king!"
"Hes REAL!!!"
"Of course Im real, squirts! Who'dya think leads all the Octarians?"
"Yeah!!" squeaks another kid, who waddles closer. "Our king is so nice! He brought us up here to play!!"
"Woaah, really?"
"Mhm." He grunts. "Everyone deserves the sunshine."
The kids eyes all shine. Theyve had ex-Octarian friends who spoke much kinder words about the king. It was easy for them to accept the fact that hes just there, grinding wasabi peacefully. Talking to the Inkfish who wants merch. Having generally gruff but...daresay, gentle vibes.
Octavio grunts out a chuckle. "Are you enjoying the surface, little one?"
"VERY!! I made new friends!! The sun feels so warm, ah!! The music! The music!! Oh, so wonderful!!!"
3 smiles again...
"Oooh... wait, I can finally ask!!" squeaks one of the kids. "Mister king, sir! Did you really fight someone called Agent 3???"
3s smile becomes a nervous one. Octavio picks that up immediately.
"Why yes. Little hooligan, that one. Ack! Gave me a headache like nothing else!"
"Did they convince you? To be good now?"
"Mh. Its a little more complicated than that, kiddoes. But I..." he sighs. "...I guess, they did."
"Wooow!!"
"So cool...I wish I could meet them!!"
"Well..."
Octavio sees, from the corner of his eye, 3 making the subtlest movement of shaking their head.
"Its said...that theyre one of the top players in the leagues. If you look hard enough, youll find em."
The Octarian kid looks straight at 3, knowingly. The two other kids notice -- and look at the golden badge they hung around their neck.
"Oh! Oh! Youre a top player, right?"
"Do you think youve met them?"
Octavio is doing EVERYTHING he can to not laugh.
"|...Im not sure. Im not exactly sure what to look for.|"
"Ill help your search, all of you." Octavio grunts again. "What exactly to look for."
3 looks at him, eyebrow raised.
"Theyre ruthless on the field. Whether it be a real fight, or in the leagues. They think on their feet, move faster than most eyes can register.
But underneath that cold efficiency...
Is one of the gentlest, most understanding squids I know."
3s expression changed from nervous to...comfort? Theyre not sure what it is, but its warm.
"Watch for a player who goes out of their way to be nice to kids and beginners. One who's a good sport in the cutthroat top leagues. One who's willing to share their battle tech to anyone, something that most top players keep under wraps.
One who's motivated to help you become the best version of yourself.
No matter how long it takes."
Octavio sees 3s shoulders relax a bit. He smiles.
"Yeah, I may have fought them a lot, back in the day. But now, Id really rather think of them as a friend."
The kids start bickering about which player it could be. The Octarian kid already knew. Shes seen them before, after all. She points at them now.
"Hehee! Maybe you should try looking in a mirror, miss. That sounds a lot like you!"
The other kids stop bickering and take a closer look.
"Huh?? Them? Hmmm...now that you say it-"
"Shes right!!! Its right in front of us!! FOR3VRFRSH! Agent 3!!!"
Octavio grinds one of his wasabi sticks a little harsher on the table to get their attention. "Kids, kids! Remember what the legend says!"
That confirms it!! They shush each other, but are still sqealing quietly. They look up at 3 again, the new info putting the top player in a different light. They threw a glance at Octavio before squatting down to their level.
"Yes," they rasp. "Me and the king...were more friends now...than enemies. Time...passes. People...change.
Remember that, okay?"
"Yes miss! We'll remember!!"
They wink. "Good...now...Stay Forever Fresh!"
Octavio looks on, leaning slightly to whisper to the floating squid jerky next to him.
"You did good with this one, Cuttlefish."
He says nothing, like during this whole conversation. One thought was in his head.
He didnt do that. That...was all 3. They were better than he ever was. He only wished...
He didnt push them as hard as he did.
----------
HOO BOY THATS A DOOZY OF A READ. I didnt PLAN for the beginnings of the acceptance of Octaria to come this early but Nintendo gave me material!! A lot of this is still semi-rough so forgive me if the pacing is whack. I just had to make and write something!!

Based on this post by @wendynerdwrites: Solas treating everyone at the Lighthouse except Varric like complete morons, but becoming a puppy as soon as Lavellan shows up.
Spoilers for Veilguard!
Davrin was used to facing dangerous situations - the life of a Warden was not an easy one -, but no fight against darkspawn, no exploration of dark, damp roads could compare to the horror of sharing a place with the worst enemy of his people's lore.
Solas, the Dread Wolf, was... a cold man. No unnecessarily cruel like old Dalish legends described him, but certainly ruthless, ready to make sacrifices if it could help finally defeat the Evanuris.
There was a certain distance in his eyes and tone whenever he spoke with the new guests of his old base - that, and badly hidden rage, boiling just below the surface. He was haunted by the failed ritual, by Rook's intervention, by Varric's wound, by years of regrets.
Davrin's superiors had always insisted on a particular point: don't fight battles you can't win. Giant ogre making its way through a narrow tunnel? Run, or you will die under the rubble. Too many darkspawn surrounding you and your fellow Grey Wardens? Retreat, and plan a better strategy.
The Dread Wolf haunts your dreams, turning them into nightmares? Be respectful, da'len, do not enrage him further, and avoid him.
So Davrin did just that. He greeted Solas, but didn't dare ask him questions. He wasn't scared of speaking up in his presence, but he did so with an even tone, not really wanting to attract his attention.
Unfortunately, his being a Grey Warden was something Solas simply couldn't understand - or forgive? -, for the Dread Wolf once found him in the courtyard, taking care of Assan's feathers, and spoke to him without hesitation, without mercy.
"That is a beautiful creature."
Assan chirped happily - he was one of the few ones in the Lighthouse, Varric and Manfred included, who wasn't scared of Fen'Harel.
"Ah, thank you." Davrin nodded at him, then went back to brushing the griffon's feathers. "He's growing up so fast."
A moment of silence, then Solas spoke again, a thin veil of ice in his voice:
"I could not help but notice he fights with you."
"Well... Yes?" Davrin didn't turn back, increasing his focus on the least oily feathers, the ones that needed more care. "Grey Wardens and griffons fight together. We're supposed to build a bond."
"Why would you bring your beloved companion into battle?" Solas sounded furious, now. "Among the Blight and the darkspawn?"
"Because that's what Grey Wardens must do." Davrin did turn around this time, hoping his glare directed at Solas wouldn't condemn him to a week of nightmares. "It's not like Assan fights at my side for the whole time. He flies above the battlefield, and attacks only when I call him."
"Because he is still young. But he will join you once he is older, and ready, and your bond strong." Solas shook his head, distaste clear on his face. "And then he will risk getting blighted, poison in his veins."
"It's terrible, I know," Davrin agreed, for the thought of losing his friend in battle had kept him awake many nights in a row, "but it's a risk we must run if we want to fight the darkspawn."
"Did you ask Assan if he wants to run this risk?" Solas arched an eyebrow. "Or did you decide for him?"
"What-"
Solas walked away, uttering a "tsk", and Davrin was left there, open-mouthed, shock and pain making his head buzz.
Assan let out a sad squeak, bumping his beak against his cheek.
--------
"You are doing it wrong."
"O-Oh?"
Bellara turned around, the elven device she was tinkering with falling on the ground. Solas, standing under the doorframe, looked at it, then at her, and she shrinked under his cold, almost disappointed gaze.
"What... What I was doing wrong?"
Oh, she hated how thin her voice sounded, but she couldn't help it! He was one of her gods! The deity of lies, trickery, and rebellion, the creator of the Veil, the reason why a breach in the Fade had appeared in the sky ten years prior! He scared her!
"Everything." Solas narrowed his eyes, then walked away, heading to his original destination, leaving her there, fuming and confused, angry at him and herself, angry at the device and its secrets, angry at her mind for not being able to understand them.
She picked it up from the floor, but didn't tinker with it again, leaving it on the table, like a forgotten relic.
--------
Harding gently closed the door of Varric's room, so that he wouldn't wake. The wound was getting better, but he was still weak, frail. His fever had broken just the day before.
She almost jumped out of her skin when Solas walked out from the shadows just around the corner - seriously, wasn't a lighthouse supposed to be well-lit?
"How is he?" he asked, almost whispering, dark sorrow on his face.
Harding glared at him, torn between telling him to shove it and answering in a civil way.
In the end, her polite side won, prompted by the memories of their days in the Inquisition, when Solas would accompany the Inquisitor in all her trips and explorations.
He would often narrate beautiful stories at dinner, when the Inquisitor decided to stop at the main campsites where Harding was stationed. He was always kind with the Inquisition soldiers, and once he had complimented Harding's study of a map.
But he had hurt the Inquisitor, and now Varric, and she found forgiveness hard to find in her frightened, enraged heart.
"He's alive." She shook her head. "He's sleeping now, so come visit him later."
"And the wound?"
"It's healing, but I don't like the look of the skin around it. It's getting inflamed, I think." She sighed, making a mental list of all the plants in her room. "I might have something to help him, but I'll need to check and-"
"My magic may help."
Her rude side won over the polite one. Oh, how her mother would scold her if she knew.
"Your magic? I'm sorry, but your magic is what caused all this in the first place!"
She approached him, teeth gritted, fists clenched, and he didn't move, staring down at her with that cold pain that morphed his face into a pale, ancient expanse of regret.
"Your magic almost destroyed the world ten years ago! Your magic almost destroyed it now! Your magic maimed the Inquisitor-"
Something passed over his face - more pain and sorrow -, and she realized she had gone too far, for his next words were too controlled, too calm. He was about to explode just like she had.
"Enough, child of the Stone."
"How dare you!"
All the pain, fear, and shock Harding had packed away in her heart - like many jagged rocks she wanted pick and examine in peace in the quiet of the room - erupted from her. Her eyes burned.
"How dare you call me like that, after what my people lost!"
"Your people are not the only ones who lost everything."
"Well, at least we're not the ones trying to destroy this world to bring it all back!"
She stormed away, hoping her outburst hadn't caused Varric to awaken.
--------
"He's here!"
"What?"
Lucanis looked up from the pot of soup he was preparing for lunch, and lo and behold, the Dread Wolf was indeed there.
Spite respected him and feared him in equal measure. He was the only one who could speak with the demon in a real, coherent way, and make it listen.
Sometimes Lucanis envied him.
"May I help you?" he said, stirring the pot after adding more salt. "It won't be ready for one more hour, I think."
"Spirit, how are you feeling?"
"It's not a spirit." Lucanis spat out before Spite could answer. It was standing next to him, not slouching as usual, but standing tall, almost proud. "It's a demon."
"That's a matter of debate."
"A matter of- it's possessing me!"
"It does not wish to be with you just as much as you do not want it with you." Solas glared at him, before setting his eyes on Spite again. His expression changed, turning kinder, more patient.
"How are you feeling?"
"... Constricted."
Lucanis gawked at it.
"Oh, for... Constricted by what? I bring you everywhere!"
Solas ignored him. "Have you tried shaping the world around you? We are in the Fade here, after all."
"I have, but it doesn't listen! Not as long as I am..."
Spite growled and glared at Lucanis, who glared back, stirring his minestrone with more rage the recipe requested.
"I see. I promise I will try to find a way to help you. It might be difficult, due to your particular circumstances, but..."
"You want to help it?" Lucanis dropped the spoon into the pot, staring at the tall elf with disbelief. "Do you know what this fiend did to me while we were locked away in Renata's prison? What about helping me get rid of it?"
"It tortured you because it was tortured. It still is."
Solas' eyes looked cold even under the light coming from the fireplace. Lucanis realized he would probably never convince him, nor understand him.
"Bah!" He went back to his dish. "No wonder nobody here likes you, lupo."
Solas went away, quiet, his steps the lightest Lucanis had ever heard.
--------
"You remind me of an old friend."
Taash looked up from the axe they were polishing, hoping they had heard it wrong.
Solas was checking some supplies. They hadn't exchanged a single word when he had entered, and Taash was glad of it, because they really didn't know how to act around that guy. Plus, their mood wasn't exactly the best these days, after a hard defeat against a particularly stubborn dragon that had badly burned their leg.
But now, this.
"How old, exactly? Millennia old? Decade old?"
"Decade. Do you know the Bull's Chargers?"
"I heard of 'em. Mercenary group led by the Tal-Vashoth who joined the Inquisition, yeah?"
Solas nodded, still checking the contents of an armory chest.
"So... I remind you of that guy?"
"Sometimes, yes."
Taash blinked. And waited.
"Why? Just because we're both Tal-Vashoth?"
"No." Solas barely looked at them as he closed the chest. "He also deeply admired dragons."
"Oh. Sounds like a cool guy, then." Taash grinned, dipping the cloth into a pot of oil and starting to polish a new area of their axe. "I bet he'd have enjoyed fighting that dragon from the other day."
"Oh, yes. But unlike you, he would have definitely prevailed."
"Why, you little piece of shit!"
They rose, furious and embarrassed, cheeks on fire and axe ready to be used, but he had already left.
--------
"What is that supposed to be?"
Neve almost dropped her pencil.
"A map?" She narrowed her eyes at him. She had tracked him down in Minrathous, yes, but he had still escaped her, in a certain way. She hated that.
"Of course it is a map." Solas' tone was as icy as hers. He knew it was her fault Varric and Rook had found him. "But what are you drawing on it?"
"Possible places where the Evanuris may be hiding."
"Hiding?" He snarled, letting out a disgusted noise. "They are not hiding. They are preparing, setting the stage, gathering power-"
"One more reason to find them as soon as possible, then."
"-And those are not the places they would choose for such a purpose."
Neve felt her right eye twitch.
"Well, since you know them so well," Solas' face turned into a mask of pure outrage at that, "perhaps you could kindly share your opinion so that we may find them sooner."
"How am I supposed to know? Don't you think I would have already done something, had I known where they are?"
He scoffed at her meticulous drawings and walked away. She gritted her teeth, frustrated, then looked back at the map, feeling almost embarrassed.
She refused to erase her marks, though.
--------
Emmrich believed himself to be a patient man, but oh, every time the Dread Wolf was involved he could just feel his patience run thin.
"Manfred, could you please hand me that book? Thank you."
A groan, rattling of bones, and Emmrich smiled.
"Indeed, it is quite interesting. I will give it back to you as soon as I'm done with these notes."
He heard footsteps coming from the staircase, but he ignored them, too engrossed in his research. He heard Manfred prepare more tea, sure it was one of their friends come to visit, but then...
"This is wrong."
Startled, Emmric raised his eyes. Solas was looking at Manfred, watching him choose the right leaves.
"I assure you, Manfred's tea knows no equal. Everyone in the Mourn Watch loves it!"
Solas glared at him, jaw tight, and the very air around him seemed to quiver. Emmrich realized he had said the wrong thing, and slightly bowed his head.
"I apologize if my words offended you, Solas. Is there something I can help you with?"
"You are torturing this poor spirit."
Manfred groaned, shaking his head, and Solas scoffed, shocked by his words.
"This is not your place! You are not supposed to be bound to a corpse!"
"I would let Manfred make that decision."
"How could he do that? You already did it for him."
A pang of pain, like the sting of a thorn in his heart, then Emmrich took a deep breath.
"You are mistaken. This is what Manfred wants."
Solas couldn't hide his disgust, his contempt, as he stared at him. Then he turned to Manfred, sorrow and grief replacing his ire, and he shook his head.
"This is wrong," he repeated, and Emmrich wondered whether he was still talking about Manfred or everything else, the Lighthouse filled with strangers, the Evanuris running free, the world on the brink of destruction.
"I am sorry." Emmrich said, but Solas ignored him and left the room, his steps heavy like those of the corpses that roamed the Necropolis.
--------
"Tell him to stop!"
"Tell him to leave."
"I can't do this anymore, Rook, I really can't!"
"He criticizes everything. He's always there, judging us, and nothing is ever right!"
"Doesn't he have another base he can use? Or maybe we should move."
"Varric, perhaps you may talk with him?"
"Don't worry." Varric smiled from his bed, tapping his fingers on the heavy blanket Harding had found for him. "I sent words to a certain someone just a few days ago. She will join us tomorrow."
Rook looked at him, confused.
"Who are you talking about?"
Harding gasped, not sure whether to grin like a madwoman or scold Varric for his insane idea.
"You did not!"
"I did." Varric looked extremely satisfied, his smug smile almost hiding the gauntness of his cheeks. "Wear your best outfits, guys - the Inquisitor is coming to visit us."
--------
She stepped out of the main eluvian, and the first thing she did was smile at everyone. And everyone thought she looked young, very pretty, but also sad, and a bit tired.
"Inquisitor."
"It's an honor, Inquisitor Lavellan."
"My lady, thank you for coming."
They bowed to her, except for Harding who got a hug, and she told them all those formalities were not necessary.
"I'm not Inquisitor anymore." Her smile was small, but sincere and warm. "Please just call me Scarlet."
Bellara admired her prosthetic arm, and promised her to show her the special gauntlet she used in battle. Davrin tried not to stare at her bare face, but everyone had heard the rumors - how the Inquisitor had come back to Skyhold after a trip with her beloved Solas, face free from vallaslin, her eyes filled with tears for weeks, her lover staring at her from a distance with grief in his eyes.
"How is Varric?" Worry and sorrow made her look older. "May I see him?"
"Of course. This way."
She didn't try to hide her awe and curiosity as they led her through the Lighthouse to Varric's room. She devoured everything, eyes setting on every minute detail.
She gasped when she saw the murals in the library, and it was clear she was looking for traces of Solas, too. She searched for him with her eyes, hoping to see him appear from behind a door or around the corner.
The more they walked, heading to Varric's room, the more she grew disappointed. Rook hurried to reassure her he wasn't hiding, not this time.
"Solas went to one of his old hideouts to retrieve some useful parchments. He believes they could be useful to track down the Evanuris."
"Oh." She blushed, pleased.
"He should be here soon."
"I see."
She was shaking due to excitement and anxiety. Ten years had passed since their last meeting, after all. Rook and their companions led her gently through her lover's Lighthouse, hoping she could be the change they desperately needed.
She gasped when they brought her outside, in the courtyard, and she stared at the giant wolf statue that stood at its center, right above the Caretaker's workshop, for a long time.
The spirit observed her in silence. She saw it and smiled, greeting it with a bow of her head.
"You are finally here, after all this time," it said, and her smile widened, looking almost impish.
"I never give up."
She hugged Varric with all the delicateness, love, and care of a daughter. He held her true hand as she sat next to his bed, patting it between his calloused ones, and tried to reassure her that he was fine, that he was recovering nicely.
Guilt and pain never left her face as they spoke.
"Shy, it's not your fault." Varric smiled at her, while Davrin and Rook prepared the poultice he needed to apply on his wound twice a day. Emmrich checked his temperature and pulse, and used a spell to soothe his fatigue.
The others stood around, ready to help, wanting to spend more time with that famous figure, with the woman who had stolen the Dread Wolf's heart.
"I never should have sent you and Harding on that mission."
"I would have gone regardless."
"Me too!"
Scarlet sighed, shaking her head.
"Well, then." She tried to smile again. "Tell me everything."
Neve was just about to share her theories about the Evanuris' possible locations, when the door opened.
"Why are you all here? Is Varric alright-"
Solas froze, staring at the Inquisitor, mouth slightly open. He looked on the verge of a panic attack, thought Harding and Bellara; or a heart attack, thought Davrin and Taash; or perhaps even a stroke, thought Lucanis and Neve.
Emmrich thought he looked ready to crumple on the floor and cry.
Scarlet stared back, cheeks red, then she slowly relaxed and gently said:
"Hello, Solas."
He let out an odd sound, something between a sob and a croak. Then he ran away, and they all shared looks with each other, bewildered.
They had never seen him like that. So... vulnerable. Soft. Inoffensive.
"You really tamed him, Inquisitor." Lucanis snorted, earning himself a smack on the arm from Bellara.
"Don't worry, Shy, you will catch him soon enough." Varric said, smiling at the empty space where Solas had stood. "He can't run from you anymore."
--------
Rook gave the Inquisitor one of the best rooms of the Lighthouse. She retired there for an hour or so to recover from her long journey, and in the meantime the other guests went to the dining room to prepare dinner.
"Do you think he's visiting her right now?" Bellara asked, smiling brightly, for she found the whole situation pretty romantic. Harding sighed, shrugging.
"Who knows. Maybe? I don't think so, to be honest. He needs to recover from the shock."
"He's probably hiding in a broom closet." Lucanis snickered while cutting the vegetables for their salad. "Or rehearsing their next conversation."
"Assuming he'll be able to speak this time." Taash mumbled, making Neve chuckle.
The door opened, and Solas entered, looking almost haggard. His eyes scanned the room, and he didn't hide his disappointment when he didn't see the Inquisitor.
It was rare for him to join them at dinner. He would usually eat his food alone, either in his room or in the library.
And it was definitely rarer for him to help them set the table, but he did so this time, making sure to choose the best plates, and placing a bowl of berries and fruits at the centre.
"Don't we have any cake?" he asked, heading to the pantry and glaring at the shelves filled with cheese, bread, and ham. "Not even sweet tarts?"
"I don't think so." Lucanis said. He raised an eyebrow when Solas went back into the dining room, a storm brewing on his face. "Is it for the Inquisitor? I could bake something special next time."
"No." Solas narrowed his eyes. "I will take care of it."
Lucanis swore in Antivan under his breath, ignoring Spite's protests to shut up and let the Dread Wolf be.
The door opened again, and this time the Inquisitor entered. Solas' demeanor changed in an instant - one moment he was a surly, grumpy old elf, the next an excited, timid puppy, looking at her with big eyes, drinking every detail of her.
"Good evening." Scarlet greeted everyone with her warm smile. She blushed when she saw Solas, and repeated, softly: "Good evening."
"Good evening, vhen- Inquisitor."
Her blush deepened, and they stood there, awkward and shy, until Emmrich took pity on them and cleared his throat.
"Lady Scarlet, dinner is almost ready. Where would you like to sit?"
"Oh, I have no preference."
She walked around the table so her back would be to the fireplace and approached the first chair on her right, but Solas anticipated her: he pulled out the chair for her and gently pushed it back until she was comfortable enough.
"Thank you," she said, smiling up at him, and his face turned pink, his eyes the biggest puppy eyes the group had ever seen.
He stood next to her, probably not sure whether she wanted him to sit at her side or not, until she noticed his weird behaviour.
"Solas, are you eating with us?"
"I... Yes."
"Then you should sit." She nodded at the chair next to her, and her smile was gentle, but also a bit amused, and he hurried to do as she said.
"Of course."
He sat down, clearly happy she had given him permission to be at her side, and they were so busy dealing with each other's close proximity, that they didn't see the look Davrin and Neve shared, nor heard Taash's snort and Lucanis' "Maker, aiutaci".
"How was your journey?" Solas asked, fidgeting with the napkin and the cutlery, his tone apparently neutral, but not really.
"Long." Scarlet sighed. "I'm not used to traversing such distances anymore. And I'm not a twenty years old Inquisitor anymore."
"You are beautiful." Solas murmured, and everyone around them froze, studying Scarlet's reaction.
Her blush reached her ears, and she breathed out a soft, flattered laugh.
"Thank you."
"Oh my." Emmrich whispered to Harding as they poured the stew - her mother's original recipe - into each dish. "He is truly smitten."
"If anyone can stop him from being an absolute ass, it's her."
--------
"Aren't you a cutie?"
Scarlet laughed and giggled as Assan chirped and rubbed his body against her legs, looking for pets. She gave them to him, stroking his feathers, his head, and Davrin smiled proudly at the scene.
"I have never seen a griffon before. Are they all as beautiful as you, Assan?"
A negative chirp, the little rascal puffing out his chest, and Scarlet laughed again.
Solas was standing a few paces away, also watching them, awkward and quiet, yearning for her touch. Davrin glanced at him, and his previous fears suddenly evaporated.
"Pity Solas said he might die soon."
"What?"
"What?"
The Dread Wolf went to them, his strides long and hurried, panic on his paling face.
"I never said such a thing!"
"You said I am risking his life by taking him into battle, where the Blight is." Davrin gave him a flat, cold look. "And I know you're right. I know I'm being selfish, following centuries-old traditions that make little sense to anyone who isn't a Grey Warden. But this is part of our sacrifice, of the grief we must carry."
Solas took a deep breath, visibly torn between arguing with him and not wanting to do so in front of Scarlet. But she intervened, her voice calm and solemn, and Davrin realized she must have spoken like that during her time as Inquisitor, too.
"Once the Evanuris are finally dead and the Blight is no more, you won't have to sacrifice yourselves and your companions anymore."
She stroked Assan's head, cupping his muzzle and looking into his big eyes.
"There will be finally peace, and griffons will be able to fly alongside people without fearing any corruption. Isn't that right, Assan?"
He squeaked happily, and Davrin felt a rush of gratefulness and hope invade his heart. But what most shocked him was Solas' reaction: he stared at Lady Lavellan with big, awed eyes, his expression the most stricken and softest Davrin had ever seen.
"You are right," he said to her, and the Grey Warden blinked, not believing his ears.
"I know!" She grinned at her lover, then went back to petting the griffon, while the Dread Wolf watched her as an once blind man would watch the first sunrise of his life.
--------
"I'm sorry, lethallan, I fear I don't understand how this works yet." Bellara fidgeted with her many pouches. "But...! Let me know if you have any ideas! Two minds are better than one, after all!"
"I'm not an expert by any means." Scarlet shrugged, turning the little elven device in her hands over and over again. "I could ask Solas, if that's alright."
"Oh." Bellara's face fell. She couldn't help it. "That would be... I don't think he would agree."
"What? Why?" Scarlet looked genuinely surprised. "Nonsense, he loves sharing knowledge and helping people learn!"
Bellara felt her face shift into a grimace, the one she would make whenever she ate something sour or her research didn't proceed as smoothly as she liked.
"I'll go look for him- oh, Solas, you're here!"
Scarlet rose from her seat as he appeared from behind the open door - had he been nearby for the whole time, watching them, waiting for her to call him!?
"Could you please help us unlock this? I fear neither me or Bellara know how it works."
"Of course."
There was a warm, pleased smile on his face. Bellara shuddered, not used to such a sight. Scarlet shared some of their theories with him, and he listened, proud and patient, soft and sweet, before gently taking the device from her hands (their fingers brushed, and they both blushed) and showing her how to activate it.
"Just like that!?" Bellara spluttered, shocked by how simple it had been. "You just needed to press it like that!?"
Scarlet gasped, curious and in awe.
"Oh, it's beautiful, it opened like a flower! What does it do?"
"It's a catalogue." Solas used a bit of magic to further activate it. "A small portable archive."
Bellara bit her lips, trying to contain herself, then she acted, unable to stop herself: she snatched the archive out of his hands and stared at every minuscule detail, overjoyed and excited.
"This is incredible! I can't wait to read everything it contains!"
She beamed at the Inquisitor, admiring her even more than before.
"Thank you, lethallan! I was going crazy over this!" She turned to Solas, giving him a flat look, which he returned.
"If only someone had deigned to explain how it worked sooner."
Bellara left, but not before turning around to see Lady Scarlet fold her arms and scold Solas with a simple, but very effective look. Bellara could almost see his ears drop and his shoulders slump.
--------
Lucanis sighed, rolling his eyes.
"My lady, Spite wants you to know you're very beautiful."
Scarlet smiled. He had explained his delicate situation to her, and even though she couldn't see the demon, she acted as if she could.
"Thank you, Spite."
Lucanis frowned, then growled.
"No, you little piece of garbage, I'm not telling her that!"
He grunted when Spite hit him, making his nose bleed again. Scarlet gasped, babbling something.
"Are you alright!? What happened?" Then she turned towards the door and called out: "Solas, come quickly!"
Before he could understand what was happening, Lucanis felt the Dread Wolf's hand on his head. The pressure caused by Spite's outburst vanished, and he could finally think clearly again.
"Oh. That was..." Lucanis stretched his neck. Spite was still with him, of course, but it felt as if he were sleeping, taking a much needed nap.
Scarlet beamed at Solas.
"Thank you."
Solas blushed and returned the smile. Lucanis glared at him, and the lupo had the gall to ignore him, completely enraptured by Scarlet's smile.
"Stronzo figlio di puttana, grandissimo figlio di buona donna..." the Crow muttered for the whole evening while reading on his cot in the pantry.
-------
"Bull would have liked you."
Taash's mouth was set in a thin line.
"Because he liked dragons, too, right?"
"Not just that. He would have loved fighting with you against one. It's clear you deeply respect them, too."
Taash glared at Solas, who was pretending to check the weapons and armors, but was actually accompanying Lady Scarlet wherever she went.
"I couldn't defeat one the other day."
"Oh, that's totally normal!" Scarlet laughed. "We couldn't defeat one in Emprise du Lion the first time we tried either! It almost burned us to a crisp, and Bull and Cole had to carry me and Solas all the way back to camp."
She giggled remembering the scene.
"Do you remember that, Solas?"
He cleared his throat.
"I do."
She laughed again, the old memories of better days making her face glow, and Solas' face as he looked at her was so sickeningly sweet, Taash felt a shiver run down their spine. They had never seen the Dread Wolf act like that.
"Is that right?" they drawled, judging him hard after their last conversation - but he had eyes for Lavellan only.
--------
"Thank you, Manfred. Your tea was delicious."
Manfred rattled happily, and had he been able to blush, he would have done so. Emmrich smiled at the scene.
"He thanks you in return, my lady."
"You can understand him, then?"
"Oh, yes! We hold many interesting conversations. Manfred is an excellent herbalist and alchemist."
"That's wonderful." Scarlet smiled at the skeleton, but then her expression slowly turned into something more pensive, kind of melancholy.
"Are you... happy like this, Manfred?"
He nodded, the green gems of his eyes shining brightly under the lights of Emmrich's study. Scarlet studied him for a second, then her smile returned, filled with trust.
"That's wonderful. I wish you all the best - should you need anything, just let me know, alright? Maybe I could find a way to understand you, too."
Ah, Emmrich could see why Solas loved her so much.
Manfred gurgled a "thank you, my lady", and when Emmrich raised his head to the spiral staircase, he saw Solas watching them, pining and yearning, the rage from their old conversation completely gone, replaced by wonder.
--------
"What about the High Reaches you marked here? I feel like they might be a good hiding place, too."
Neve scoffed despite herself. She wasn't angry at the Inquisitor, of course, but at her lover and his dreadful lack of tact and good manners.
"Solas said the Evanuris aren't hiding, but gathering more power. And that they wouldn't do that in places like this."
She raised an eyebrow when she spotted him on the railing above the library. Maker, he really followed Lady Scarlet everywhere, like a lost puppy.
"Oh." The Inquisitor looked back at the map, worried and deflated. "He's probably right. He knows how they think better than we do."
"That's...!"
Solas walked down the stairs - no, almost ran, cheeks red with embarrassment.
"Let me check, vhen- Inquisitor. Perhaps I was mistaken."
Neve's eyebrows reached her hairline.
"You mean here?" he asked, pointing at the range of mountains near Minrathous. His hand slightly hovered over Lady Scarlet's back, almost touching it.
"Yes. It's near Tevinter's capital, so I thought..."
"That is an excellent idea. Yes, they might be commanding their minions from there, close to their main objectives."
Neve snorted, not really angry and annoyed anymore. In fact, she was amused, and she realized she had found one more piece of evidence that proved how smitten, how sappy the Dread Wolf was when it came to Lady Scarlet.
--------
"How can you..." Harding sighed, took a deep breath, and tried again. "How can you look at him, talk with him, without feeling the urge to... to..."
She groaned, tossing a pebble into the pond in her room.
"I love him." Scarlet said, simply, softly. "I know you're very angry, Harding. I am, too. But despite all the rage, all the pain, I love him."
"I know."
Harding looked at their reflections in the shallow water. She looked grumpy, tired, a smudge of soil on her cheek. Lady Scarlet still looked a bit too pale and tired, but it was clear Solas' presence had rejuvenated her.
"If we survive all this..." Harding vaguely gestured at the air to indicate that whole mess. "What are you going to do, Inquisitor?"
"You mean...?"
"With Solas, yes."
"Oh, it's easy!" She grinned, suddenly very cheerful. "Once I save him from himself, the marriage is back on!"
She said that with so much sincerity, with so much candor and innocence, Harding couldn't help but cackle, falling backwards on the floor.
The Inquisitor laughed, too, but Harding knew she was serious, that that was indeed what she was planning to do. Always so bright and hopeful, looking for the best in every situation - one of the many reasons why people had loved her as Inquisitor.
They heard a sound just outside the door, and Scarlet sighed fondly, shaking her head.
"Eavesdropping on us? Really?" Harding said, but she was not really angry, just resigned and even amused. That stupid man couldn't stay away from Lady Lavellan for more than ten minutes, now that they were finally together again, with no more secrets between them.
"I think I'll go to sleep. Goodnight, Harding."
"Goodnight, Inquisitor." Harding gave her a lopsided, impish smile. "Sweet dreams."
--------
Someone knocked at her door, and she already knew who it was.
"Solas."
Scarlet smiled at him. Part of her wanted to drag him into the room and finally, finally hug him and kiss him after all those years, but she didn't wish to scare him. She could see and feel he still loved her, just as she still loved him, but she wasn't sure he was finally ready to let himself go.
"Vhenan." His voice was soft, a whisper carrying all his love and guilt and pain and adoration. "I missed you."
She swallowed her tears, but they spilled from her eyes all the same.
"Oh, Solas." Her real hand trembled as she reached out to cup his cheek. He leaned into her touch, sighing happily, never breaking eye contact. "I missed you, too."
"I want..." He took a deep breath. "There are memories scattered around the Lighthouse and the Crossroads. Scenes from my past. I want you to see them, all of them."
Eyes wide, she could just stare at him, at a loss for words. He rested his hand upon hers, clearly determined, fully resolved to finally share everything with her, the good and the bad, Fen'Harel included.
"I do not deserve your forgiveness nor your love." His hand on hers trembled, and a tear ran down his cheek. "But I love you, vhenan. I always will. If the world truly is going to end, if we won't survive this, I wish to die by your side."
He smiled, that sweet smile he had for her only.
"But should we survive this second catastrophe, too, I wish to walk with you wheresoever you desire, to share everything with you, to live with you. Not as Fen'Harel, not as a god of rebellion, but as Solas." His lips quivered. "Your Solas."
She sobbed, a luminous smile on her face. She nodded and a "yes" had barely left her mouth, when he stepped forward and crashed his lips against hers, holding her tightly. He peppered her face with kisses, smiling as well, their laughter and giggles filling the corridor, before scooping her up into his arms and entering the bedroom, their hearts the lightest they had ever been, soaring with hope and love.

pokemon trainer au! gojo x f!reader. reader is a fairy gym leader and satoru is league champion and a flying type trainer. fluffy fluffy. couldn’t have done this without my beloved @moondust-lore so thank you as always nesi 😚 wc 1.5k
part one (you are here), part two, part three
divider by @/cafekitsune
All good adventures start with two rivals.
At least that’s what you’ve been told your entire life, your own mother regaling you with tales of her rival for as long as you can remember, long before your now full grown Lapras was even developed enough to sing her song.
Your Lapras was a gift to you from her rival and your first Pokemon, gifted to you by a man she grew up several houses away from that was once a wide eyed boy with big dreams of opening a Pokémon academy to encourage the study of these creatures in their natural habitats. He successfully opened said academy, you even attended it for several years of your life, but your rival never came along through the years that passed.
The children in your neighborhood paired off quickly, setting their own parameters for their journeys and leaving you on the outside. Your schoolmates paired off and most of them have opened their own gyms, just like you, or settled into other aspects of their lives with or without their rival.
You never really minded and still don’t, though, pleased to enjoy life flat on your back in the grass of the surprisingly large meadow that backs up to your gym, gazing at the clouds floating overhead. A rival isn’t a necessity and you’re glad, honestly, that the stress of having to keep up with someone else is something you have been able to dodge for the most part.
“Hey!”
Until today.
You sit up, brows furrowed, and that’s when you see the man who may very well be the rival you’ve been looking for.
Satoru Gojo, current Pokémon League Champion.
His starlight colored hair flops over his eyes that are covered by glasses but you know what they look like behind the dark frames because they’ve been plastered on every magazine for several months. You know his name, everyone does, and it’s hard to truly imagine why he has come back after your many declinations of his requests to battle.
“Satoru,” you huff, his name leaving your lips with a tinge of amusement as he approaches with his hands stuffed in his pockets. He grins at you and it’s cheeky as it ever has been, glistening teeth tucked between pretty mauve lips and topped with dimples.
Infuriatingly charming and handsome, as always. It isn’t enough to be powerful, he hit the lottery in more ways than one.
“Ah, is that any way to speak to an old friend?”
Snorting, you slowly rise from your spot on the ground to your feet, your beloved Espeon bounding to your side to look up at you quizzically. You shoot a wordless glance in her direction and she wraps her twin tail around your legs, looking between you and the man.
She wonders if today will be the day you give in and finally say yes to his requests for an actual battle. It has been a long time since you’ve utilized her in any sense beyond as a companion and while she doesn’t ache for battle, there are times she wishes you’d push yourself and the rest of your Pokemon a little bit harder. Less leisure, less tenderness, less lazing around.
But she also knows you, her trainer and friend, and knows this is the life you’ve chosen for all of them out of compassion so her eyes flit expectantly in Satoru’s direction while you stroke between her ears.
“We’d be friends if you would learn to take no for an answer but until then we’re just acquaintances.”
You smile and it’s sweet, no bite despite your sassy words, and the man shakes his head. He finds you equal parts fascinating and amusing, the tales of how fiercely you and your team used to battle on your own journey to become a gym leader spurring him in your direction two years ago.
“I didn’t come to ask you to battle today.”
Despite your firm no’s, he keeps coming back for no other reason than being around you. You are refreshing, unaffected by his power and status, something he has longed for since becoming Champion. It’s just you and your companions and he can never shake just how happy all of you look when he stops by impromptu.
“Then what can I do for you?”
He shuffles closer to you and reaches down to run his finger over the velvety ear of your Espeon who remains still as ever, her eyes shutting. You scoff and roll your eyes.
“Don’t mind her, she’s shameless.”
Chuckling, he shrugs and looks around the meadow to spot who else you are spending time with out here. Your Lapras floats on the small pond, blinking slowly in Satoru’s direction. A Grookey ruffles the grass a few feet away from you, ears poking out between pastel colored flowers and your Skitty shakes her tail in his direction, an invitation to play.
It’s so unlike his own former gyms which confirms he made the right decision. The decision? Well, he already anticipates watching your jaw drop before he speaks the words aloud for the first time.
“I’ve decided to vacate my spot as Champion to go and travel.” Your jaw does drop, eyes widening in shock.
“Can you even do that?”
He nods, thumb still pressed to the Espeon’s velvety ear.
“Not without a lot of argument but yes and I’ve already done it so there’s no changing my mind.”
You understand, approaching and placing a hand on his shoulder. The touch isn’t unwelcome and he plays off the pink on the tips of his ears, glancing down at you through white lashes.
“I wouldn’t ever try to change your mind but will you tell me why?”
Gojo sighs and it’s almost concerningly heavy for a man who is so light as air he even partners with Flying type Pokémon specifically. You feel for him, certain the pressures of being Champion can be enough to get even the strongest of them all down, and you keep your hand pressed to his shoulder.
“When I was working toward becoming Champion my focus was so singular I missed out on everything. I only did what had to be done to get here and now I’ve realized I haven’t experienced, well, anything. I want to enjoy the journey and not simply the destination.”
Your heart beats hard in your chest, moved by his honesty. You’ve always been friendly with the man and it’s not a wonder that he’s Champion, he is the strongest, but you do wonder why he came here to tell you this.
“I want you to come with me.”
Breath catching in your throat, you are shocked by the words.
“Me?”
“Yeah, you. If anyone can show me how to slow down and enjoy it, it has to be little miss on her back watching the clouds roll by.”
The nickname is a bit of a mouthful but you smile anyway, looking up at him and twisting your mouth to the side.
“Let me ask the council,” you shoot and he nods understandingly, watching you sink to a squat beside your Espeon.
“What do you think?”
She chirps excitedly and you sigh, hoping she’d be on your side for once, but her thirst for adventure is bigger than her loyalty to you by some strange miracle. It has been too long since you and her and your friends have been out on the routes and she hungers to roll around in new grass. You pet her again and nod, rising to standing.
“Okay. I’m sure I’m the last person you asked and the only one to say yes and I’d hate to leave you lonely.” He chuckles and shakes his head. “You were the first and the only one I wanted to ask.”
Espeon chirps again at your feet and you toss her another glance, forgetting how astute your partner truly is despite the separation of Pokemon and human between the two of you.
“I’ll be back in three days to pick you up so make sure you have everything you need.”
Your traitorous heart pounds even harder knowing what’s to come. Traveling, alone, with Gojo sounds undeniably thrilling and you will ponder later when you’re alone what’s to come.
For now, you smile and nod.
“Okay, champ. But know I won’t make the journey easy on you.”
He grins once again, pearly whites gleaming while Grookey hops out of the grass a few feet away from him and clings to his leg, the large man kneeling slightly to pet the creature.
“Which is exactly why I invited you.”
The words are so loaded even you catch the weight and you shuffle from foot to foot, Espeon still wound around your calves. The sun blazes overhead and clouds continue to pass and in an instant you realize that you may not have gained that rival you’ve been dodging but perhaps you’ll yet gain a friend.
“I won’t keep you for any longer but be ready for me, okay?”
You nod and try to hide your grin by tucking your chin against your chest and glancing at the ground below.
Perhaps you’ve gained something more than a friend, even.

Dracula Daily: Ah yes, letters from my good friend Jonathan Harker as he travels abroad on his realty adventures! This Dracula guy is giving a lot of red flags, but no matter. Give me more paprika hendl recipes. :)
Les Mis Letters: Victor Hugo spams your inbox every day infodumping about his hundreds of OCs he likes to put through Les Miseries, such as a nice bread thief DILF with severe PTSD, a canonically ugly furry cop with an Authority kink, and a Bishop we get the entire lore for in the beginning and barely hear from again. Sometimes he goes on lengthy tangents about the Battle of Waterloo or the Parisian sewer system. Also Revolution and ACAB. *Pokémon voice* "Who's that buff old man? That's right! It's John McJohn!" Thank you, Victor, but please, it's 10am.

22 ASK! THANK YOU! :DDD
@a-weird-bean-bag
They are not related by blood, no. (Blood? Frosting..? Filling?? Anyways-)
Red is actually Seafoam's great Nephew. And he joined the crew because of a tradgedy involving his mother,, Seafoam's niece..
When Red joined the crew he was very shy and scared of everything. Coco at this point was a rough and tough pirate gal.. but man, something about that kid.. she just adored him. She took it upon herself to take care of the little guy and be his guardian.
She loves him to bits and has definitely taken the role of "mother" in his world. When ever the ship is under attack, she is the first to swoop in and take Red to safety. She is the one Red goes to when he cant sleep or is scared. She takes care of him when he is sick, she cleans his clothes and feeds him too.
Seafoam has made it very clear that she does not have to do any of this. And that Red is 100% his responsibility. But she just ain't havin' it. She chooses to be involved in Red's care and wouldn't have it any other way. 💖
Its a good thing too, Seafoam has no idea how to raise little kids <XD
(Also thank you so much!! :DD )
👀👀oh?
@yoylecake420
Sorry uh- I don't know that character. I made some OCs for Cookie run but I haven't played any of the games, I don't know the lore and I don't know/remember any of the characters- sorry!
Ah,, I don't know? <XDD I don't know how the games work- are there other types of cookies?? I don't know--
Judging by what I've heard/seen of that game? They'd run for the hills! They're not safe there <XD
<:D Ah sorry- I don't know who that cookie is- remember I haven't played either game and I don't know any of the lore!
@storylover2
.....OH-
THERES MORE??--
Also thank you so much!! You are beary nice :}}}
@universal-hunter
AAAAWE!!! :DDD THANK YOU SO MUCH!! :}}}}💖💖💖
@couchwow
Thank you for the no spoilers!! :DD I have not seen it but I have heard of it :0 perhaps sometime I'll give it a go! :}
@thetiredpenguin
Man, cookie run lore is WILD XDDD
@sparkdrawsstuff
Thank you! My day today was better than yesterday at least! XD
@keakruiser
AAAAA THANK YTOIU SO MMUCH!!! :DDDD 💖💖💖
I've drawn them twice actually that I can remember! Once in my FNAF Recap/Repair part 2, and once in a doodle dump post thing! :00
@elegantjellyfishmemachine
:0 eh? Huh? Til what?
@readeren
I actually haven't thought much about that :0 I worried that the group wouldn't feel very diverse if I had duplicate characters.. but the opposite personalities but same person is genius! But whompst would be duplicated... 🤔
@blissthewolf
Hello! I believe I do write scripts, but if I'm being honest I don't think I can scrape together even one sentence of sound advice for you- 💔😭💔
I am known to be very bad at explaining how to do things. A lot of what I do is just taking random things and stapling them together and ripping off some parts and gluing this here and put that over there and tada! Comic! "How'd you do that" "...Honestly I cant really remember-"
The only think I can think to say is figure out what you want to come from the scene and.. do what ever it takes to make it happen..? Uhhh- for example, "I want these two characters to fight and character A to leave in a huff." Well then give them something to fight about, and make character B say something that would make character A mad enough to leave without saying anything..?? But that doesn't explain how I would figure out what the argument would be about- I
I'm afraid I am of no use to you here-
@neo-metalscottic
AAAA THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I'm glad you like my minecraft guys and my cookie run critters! :DD And not to worry- He'll catch on XD right now the main thing keeping them some what apart is Seafoam's thoughts of "She's a beautiful mermaid, why would she be with an old Captain like me..? :( " And Blue's thoughts of "He's a well respected Pirate Captain! What would he see in a big whale like me..😔" But they get past that eventually-- XDD
And yes! I have drawn them before <XD although those drawings weren't made with my Mario AU in mind.. When they grow up they will definitely be more stylized. :0 Not sure how they'll interact with Bowser as they age, but they are intended to all be his biological children :)
As for the birth order, I haven't thought it through fully,, but I have decided that Ludwig is the oldest and next in line for the throne. And JR is the very youngest with Lemmy being second to youngest. And Larry being 3rd to youngest :00
@solst1ce-sketches
Thank you! And to be honest if the D.A was split and gender swapped, I would just slap on some eye lashes and make them both generally appear more feminine.
Glitchy sun tho.. man, how would Fazbear Entertainment deal with that? <XD
@minnesotamedic186
Thank you!! :DDDD
@rubyplayz12
Wah??
(Post in question)
XD Well? Did it work?

yeah im going all in
Bunch of insane lore rambles under the cut LMFAO
During the GOLB invasion, the veil between worlds became it's THINNEST. The world Max came from already had dimensional rift problems, it's the very things she was set out to study along with whatever happened to come out of them.
As we all know, Sadness attracts Madness, never did Max think that a rift would pull her in. A good 12-15 years is where she ended up getting spat back out after GOLB fused with Betty and fucked off.
She was lost for 3 months. Zero human contact. Only dangers and monsters and the occasional talking animal to point her to the human city.
She DOES eventually end up making it, stumbling on to the small ferry and falling flat in to the city. These citizens were humans, yes, but Golb knows that these aren't the same humans she's used to. They're all strange, wear strange clothes, and say strange phrases she only barely understands. You can imagine the wave of astonishment and relief she felt coming up on a giant sign that read "20TH CENTURY MAN IN HIS NATURAL HABITAT"
She's from the 22nd century, but goddamn if it wasn't close enough.
Following the curious crowd, an older gentleman stood in a dollhouse-like enclosure that mimicked that of an old fashioned home, decorated in familiar items and décor. The future-humans took their turns asking very.. Dumb. Questions. Most of the time repeating the same one in different ways. For some reason they're very focused on the different lamps. It was increasingly obvious that the gentleman acting as the 20th century man was just about ready to lose it if another comment was made about how light 'bulbs' are supposed to be pronounced light 'balls.'
"Excuse me." Max spoke up over the crowd. Simon glanced over at her from between his pinched nose bridge, pausing. It looked almost as if his shoulders relaxed. The way Max presented herself was something he hasn't seen in a very, very, very long time. Familiar clothes, cadence, and energy. "Could I talk to you, um, whenever you're done touring your.. Museum." Max asked. She was trying her very best not to make it sound urgent, despite the desperation she felt in her chest. "Oh, no, yes of course." Simon stumbled over his answer, nodding quickly. "We could talk now, if you'd like. It wouldn't hurt to close early."
The other people in group either huffed, rolled their eyes, or wandered off at the suggestion. Simon rubbed at the back of his neck, motioning Max to come inside. "Walls down." There was brief confusion, but it subsided as soon as the walls to the enclosure closed down like garage doors. Simon sighed heavily, turning to the new face in town with a tired smile. "What was it that you wanted to talk about, miss..?"
"Maxine Stronghold." Habit took over, flashing her detective badge and pocketing it in a single motion. That put the man on edge, his smile faltering. "Ah, you're not in trouble. That.. Sorry. Old habit. I was actually just here to ask if you actually were from the 20th century?" He perked back up. "Wha, why, yes. Are you not familiar with- Oh, my goodness I never actually introduced myself." Max's thick brow quirked up at him, his hand extending to her form. "Simon Petrikov. I, ah, used to be the Ice King. Difficult to imagine, I know, but rest assured-"
The increasingly confused look on the woman's face brought him to a stop. "... Sorry, did I say something wrong?"
"No." She answered slowly. "I just .. Um. I don't know where I am. Or how I got here. Or how there are wizards and talking food. I haven't had any genuine human contact in months. I was kind of hoping you'd be able to help me."
A moment of silence befell the two of them. A growing realization creeped on to Simon's face, putting his hand over his mouth and mumbling, "Oh my God." before putting a hand on her shoulder to have her sit down.
"Tell me everything."

i actually have a few ideas in mind for a modern au for the graveborns :D
Niru
• A military doctor (based on his lore) that constantly works day in and day out, becoming the dad who went to get the milk (body counts) to the point where he just sleeps at the hospital if so desired.
• He's also obsessed with the anatomies of a human body to the point where he had intrusive thoughts of wanting to.. 'inspect' on it more
Viperian
• Goes by Victor in this AU, a college professor who teaches biology/chemistry for foundation students, you could say that he's very great at explaining the concepts as he goes VERY into details, which makes him one of the profs that the students go for if they have any questions, despite his creepy appearance
• Little did they know that he has been having a secret past time of kidnapping people and experiments on them at midnight... (He also does this with Niru when they got the time, theyre practically besties)
Cecia
• An opera singer (based on her beta lore) that went viral on socials due to her beautiful voice and pretty appearance, guys and gals would be head over heels for her, if she were to be in any opera stages, tickets would sold out quickly
• Though, she's kinda a brat, she's too arrogant to the point where she would mistreat her butler, Mr. Carlyle (not that he mind, he's devoted to her) and takes her fans for granted
Ludovic
• Rich man in Whiteridge, holding a high title as he owns the place, fancy clothed, looks very serious and stern, with a hint of sadness in his eyes
• Though that sadness goes away when you see him painting a very beautiful landscape or portrait based on his self-grown flower field and his family... He looks the happiest in there. He would also give flowers occasionally to his people! Ah, such a great heart at a young age
(Also he's the type of person to watch a streamer/hear music while painting I don't make the rules)
Igor
• Works as a daycare attendant (and a good one at that) since he likes to play with children, the other workers there said that he has a himbo energy when they met him, his mind may be empty but his care for the children is very devoted. Their first impression of him is quite different though,,, (they crapped themselves seeing him because of how ridiculously tall he is + he has a menacing look)
• At night I'd imagine he'd become a faceless streamer (based on Ranboo), where he'd engage in horror content and silly goofy games, might also chat about funny things that happened during his life. (And yes his Vtuber is a zombie knight like in AFKJ. Again i dont make the rules)
Yeah that's all I could think off atm, i'll write the other characters if I got time
I love the idea of the graveborn nobles lowkey being from like, old money families. Especially Cecia, Thoran and Ludovic.
Also, if this was a mystery thriller/dating sim like the arcana, bodies going missing from morgues and hospitals would be one hell of a plot point. Especially if we work with @twilight-melodys lore about Hogan being a former FBI agent and Valen being his subordinate. Like imagine Hogan asking his old friend (former work partner?) for help investigating a case because he can't actually get involved in an official capacity but he trusts their abilities.
Cue Merlin and Valen investigating and realizing that this conspiracy goes way deeper than they initially thought. The local Forestry Department (the Wilders) reporting weird things happening to the local fauna, some Maulers going missing inexplicably, the local gang boss (Sonja) coming forward about what happened to her sister, and realizing the corruption that runs deep in the towns upper-class socialite society. You could go absolutely insane with this idea. At that point a romance sub-plot is probably the least of Merlin's worries (though personally I'm going a little feral over the idea of Valen in an FBI uniform).
Also, love the idea of Igor just minding his own damn business and not getting involved with all the drama. Hydrated (he's a gamer so probably not) , staying in his lane and thriving, as it should be.

Okay so the dichotomy between your Sakuya Cherry Bomb idea and Yarra's Kuro vtuber is hilarious to me because like.
Sakuya: Fans only know him as Cherry Bomb and don't know anything about him outside of his music.
Vs
Kuro: Vtuber Lore is literally just his life but it should be fine because people dont know vampires are real.
I FUCKING FOUND IT. LINK TO THE CHERRY BOMB POST 🍒💣
Anyway one of the reasons for the difference is I headcanon Sakuya as being a 90s kid! as in, he died in the 90s--
This, naturally, makes him a lot more wary about the info he puts out there on the internet, but it also means his internet experience was molded by Ye Olden Days when creators were a lot less available to their fanbases and interacted with them very little, if at all.
He doesn't even have a fanart hub, and his icon is just a random street in tokyo he thought looked nice.
His classmates REALLY do not get why Sakuya is so paranoid, so Sakuya shows them how easy it would be for a super dedicated person to figure out exactly where Mahiru’s apartment is using his cooking tutorial videos (uploaded under the channel name "Sunny Mama" courtesy of Kuro) and basic realtor research
Things like Mahiru apologizing for any construction noise and using the time stamp to figure out which apartment complexes had construction in their vicinity during that time, floor plans, how even his living situation and the model of his appliances can all be used to narrow down the area he lives in.
“He lives with his uncle and the camera man, which means at least two rooms. We can see the stove top and the front of the oven, so I take a screenshot of that and… Ah, this is the brand. Now I research the model. Okay, I have two components. He mentions that he walks to school, so that’s a two bedroom apartment in Tokyo within walking distance of a high school with good quality appliances, which means I can rule out a lot of run down complexes. This grocery bag was in frame during this video, and a high school kid Mahiru’s age wouldn’t have a license, so now I add that name of the store to my list of things I know are around the complex because when you go grocery shopping, you don’t want to carry the bags a long distance home…”
The faces of his friends are full of horror.
"And that’s not even getting into the drinking with uncle segment that happens in their living room, with full view of the balcony because Mahiru hates the place getting musty so he leaves the curtains open a lot. Knowing what buildings are viewable from there can also tell someone where a place is, especially if you’re thorough enough to consider the angle you’re seeing everything at.” Sakuya glances up and closes his laptop. “So, yeah.”
Mahiru makes a Noise, fretting, "Wait, so what do I do now??"
Sakuya feels a little bad for scaring his friend, but it's for his own good! “Keep your curtains closed, make sure the screws in your door frame are the really long kind to prevent someone from just kicking the door off its hinges, don’t get electronic locks because it’s stupid easy to trick those into unlocking, and just… Be more careful? Wear a mask from now on and go back and edit footage to remove your face from the visible shot. Try and keep things focused on your hands instead, maybe…”
"Should I get rid of the drinking with uncle part? Since that always focuses on Uncle Tooru's reactions..."
"He’s a grown up and an old man. Nobody’s going to be interested in pulling him into a windowless white van unless it’s those creep show friends of his…”
"Wh--Why would anyone be interested in pulling me into a windowless white van?!"
"Sex trafficking."
"Eh?"
"Or stealing your organs."
"Eh?"
“Or even just some obsessive pervert who’s built up some kind of fantasy in their head that you’re fated for one another but you just don’t realize it yet.”
"What."
As you can tell. Yeah. Sakuya really internalized those 90s internet safety psas. He's also well acquainted with the idea of a very dedicated stalker for. Reasons.
Tsubaki voice: that boy just isn't right...

Thoughts on Malevolent e1:
Starting off strong with amnesia
Who is this echoed robo Stanley parable mother fucker I like him?
Rip Arthur
"What is it?" "A book" Thank you Narator who's voice keeps getting progressively deeper
Arthur seems pathetic little man he's cute
WHO IS THIS ANGRY ROBO BITCH GODDAMN THE MAN HAS NO MEMORIES CHILLAX
"Your whimpering is awfully distracting" Maybe don't posses a pathetic little bitch (lovingly)
Bound? Seems kind of gay if you ask me
WHO ARE YOU GAY ROBO BITCH
Watch it there's a... piano? Angry keyboard dog?
I need Arthur carnaly. First episode and he whimpers. WHIMPERS WHILE BEING TOLD WHAT TO DO BY AN AGRESSIVE VOICE
AND HE PLAYS PIANO
HE WILL BE MY WIFE
Ah yes, best first date idea: hide the body of your busniess partner and best friend while plotting a possible murder together.
Eddie is fair. I would also be suspicious of this whimpering buffoon.
Who the hell is this demon robo dude? He's kind of toxic and I love him.
"Look at him" "I cant" Dude forgot he took Arthur's eyes XD
Arthur baby I love you so much please don't let Eddie beat you up
"Look in the mirror I want to look at you." Kinda gay bro
"I do not like to be pushed around." Sound like something a guy who likes to be pushed around would say
"...noted." note the sarcasm in that echoed tone.
Demon voice, you seem like you keep forgetting Arthur is a very good detective.
Oh? Lore drop already? Fucking awesome
YES INTRODUCING ALTERNATE TIMELINES ALREADY! IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS SHIT!
DEAD VOICE GUY YEEEAH
ITS 1934!?!? FUCK YEAH!!!!
Someone is avoiding the questioooon
Mayhaps it is because ye voice has trauma?
Oh yeah. Trauma dump already.
It must be 1934, taxi fair is less than 3 bucks. Damn
"Describe everything to me." Arthur you are so cute.
Yessss 1934 music! I love it.
This voice guy is really trying to push his emotions down and it isn't working that well. Babygirl we can all tell you're troubled. Do you need a hug? A cup of cocoa?
"Crouch low and put your back against the ckunter." "Arthur: *old man groaning sounds*" babygirl that's not very sneaky
"Relax. That was a close call. it won't be the last." That's reassuring.
That "well done arthur" sounded awfully suspicious
Arthur is so smart and this traumatized voice keeps forgetting that.
Oh shit he already has an enemy he doesn't know. This escalated quite quickly
These two are already bickering.
This guy is surprisingly angry about him not helping the police investigate a murder he was already investigating the disappearance of the victim. Chill out dude he's a PI not a criminal investigator.
"Arthur it's another small room!" It sounded so aggressively excited that I had to stop because I started laughing that was so cute what.
Hm. Sounds creepy...and hot.
What was that name again??? Asking for a friend ofc.
Dint turn random stones have you learned nothing from horror movies? Oh, wait, 1934. Right.
Arthur would be the horror movie girl who survives because she wants nothing to do with the stupid false solutions.
PORTAL TO HELL PORTAL TO HELL PORTAL TO HELL!!!
AAAHH THAT WAS SO FUCKING GOOD!! HELL YEAH!!!

Ah yes, I myself also detest the hrs’s male fanbase of my country so much that I don’t want to be involved with the fandom anymore
My bias is Jing Yuan and every single post that mentioned him, they just joke about his in-game skills out of nowhere
I mean, they literally just doesn’t make any sense, it doesn’t even related to the post’s content
Weirdo
Compare him with Feixiao in lore and said that he doesn’t look like a general? What kind of logic is that? Compare their skills? Bro Jing Yuan has already a 1.0 character and they want him to as strong as later characters? Weirdo. As if they are asking Klee to be as strong as Arlecchino
This is just a small complaint about how they keep joking about Jing Yuan aka the flawless man has brought me to play hsr even though I wasn’t intend to play it. Kind of frustrated tbh
And yeah, some male characters like Argenti or Yanqing have the same fate
You spoke my inner thoughts!!! 😭😿😽 I really hate it when people laugh at Jing Yuan's Lightning-Lord [10] being unable to attack.
My husband he is perfect! Jing Yuan is version 1.0 character. He works hard! He is seven hundred years old! He is a big cute cat! Stop complaining about him. Because if people do that, the characters they brag about will end up having the same consequences. Honkai Star Rail is a game that makes new versions of characters stronger than older ones. It seems that the only 4* character that can still be strong now is Tingyun?
There is more ridicule for male characters in the gaming community, and officials rarely give male characters a more important and constant position…
Hmm, but Jing Yuan is perfect in the plot, and that's enough for me. Jing Yuan is my main, and a large part of my support team is built for him. He is the best and is cherished in my place 😮💨😮💨😮💨

Overanalyzing the Spectral Assassin Dialogue
When there's a character with scarce material to draw from for writing, I tend to read into lines a lot, despite it being very likely that It's Not That Deep.
Lucien Lachance is no exception to this; in my opinion his comments in Skyrim actually offer more hints at his character than in Oblivion (aside from being very versed and pious in the Dark Brotherhood's doctrine - that's a personal interpretation I will not shake 😌). Wes Johnson, as always with his unique voices, also gives us some flavor and nuance to think on, whether intentional or not. Here are my personal takeaways from some of his dialogue!
"An ancient city, Markarth. Built by the Dwemer, the dwarves of old. To think, an entire race... eradicated. Not even I can take credit for that feat."
This suggests to me a bit of an ego. Given this comment it's safe to say he is quite self-assured in his skills and reputation, which I suppose can be taken as a healthy confidence, too. Either or! Though I like thinking arrogance personally.
Also... the way he utters "eradicated"? Sounds wistful, almost. Perhaps he derives personal, sick pleasure in the idea, or perhaps is pleased by the fact such a large-scale notion of death and discord would surely please Sithis greatly.
"You wish to kill me? Someone has already had that honor. Hah!"
"Ha ha! I've suffered worse!"
Could be taken as simple statements - because yes, obviously, he was killed and it was brutal... but what interests me is that he's laughing about it. He's not mad nor morose over his death. Perhaps he's grown to accept the circumstances over two centuries, or sees it as a theatric close to his personal legend.
"Someone has already had that honor" is a tasty tidbit that furthers this idea; I perceive this as an ego similar to the Markarth quote. He sees it as something of an achievement to have been killed: the infamous Lucien Lachance, acclaimed Speaker of the Black Hand, epitome of what the Dark Brotherhood stood for, finally taken to the grave? Be it for false accusations - with his death, no doubt the world became just a bit safer...
"Have you heard the tale of Mathieu Bellamont, and the Great Treachery of Cheydinhal? Kill a boy's mother, and vengeance festers in the son."
The famous line. To me this actually adds on to the above quotes - it's interesting just how... indifferent he sounds about it. He words it as though he's about to read us an Edgar Allen Poe story, rather than harp about some unfortunate events that ultimately destroyed - and prematurely ended - his life. Again, perhaps he's had lifetimes to come to terms with it, but it's just compelling how he's not outright angry. Which honestly? I feel like that'd insult Bellamont more than anything.
"Ah, yes. Solitude. Seat of the High King of Skyrim. Messy business, kingslaying. Ah, but so very satisfying..."
Oh yeah. He's undoubtedly killed a king in the past; it sounds here like he's speaking from personal experience. Take that as you will. Had it been a previous High King of Skyrim, giving a motive to his stated journey through Skyrim in his youth? I'm curious if there's any lore that could align timelines and point to who he could have assassinated, even if it could be chalked up to happy coincidence.
"In my time, the Blades protected the Emperor. It would seem these Penitus Oculatus will prove equally incompetent."
"My time saw the assassination of an Emperor as well. Alas, the Dark Brotherhood did not have the honor of that kill."
He seems to somewhat revel in Uriel's assassination though confesses some... envy, perhaps?... that it was not the Brotherhood's work. He also blatantly criticises the Blade's failure (ouch, man, don't do my boy Baurus like that!) I mean, it goes without saying his allegiance lies with the Brotherhood above anyone else, and he's evil and nasty, but these quotes convince me he doesn't hold any strong political stance. Complimenting the kingslaying quote and in tune with slaying the Emperor in Skyrim. Powerful targets are just high-prized game - and an acclaimed opportunity to orchestrate Sithis's will on a grander stage.
"Yes. Kill the chef, and then steal his very identity. For that is the true death."
This is most likely just some idle ruminations. It has me thinking nonetheless. Not out of the realm of possibility that he's assumed false identities himself to get to more valuable targets, of course.
I have some wild ideas that have branched from this though. What if?... what if he's stolen identities on a personal level? Aliases, if you will. Some serial killers are notorious for it (take H.H. Holmes for example). What if Lucien Lachance isn't actually Lucien Lachance? (Okay, this one's the total crackpot theory of the bunch but it was a fun idea to throw out there)
