IMPORTANT: VOICE YOUR OPPOSITION TO AGE VERIFICATION LAW IF YOU LIVE IN CALIFORNIA-STOP AB3080
Tumblr media
The California age bill verification will be voted in monday, please call your reps and tell them to oppose the bill AB3080 as it threathens online privacy, as your ID will be linked to your browser history when you want to access a website. They deem LGBT content harmful to minors, as well as weapons and tobacco, putting them on the same level as nsfw content. Since a lot of tech companies resides in California (Youtube,Reddit,Discord, twitter) who know how they will implement this if it passes. Please take actions here (a script is included to help you) https://www.defendonlineprivacy.com/ca/action.php
Find your rep here https://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/
You can also send faxes using this https://faxzero.com/ If you don't live in California, please spread the word and urge others to take actions, make posts and wteets using the hashtags AB3080 and NoOnAB3080
Remind your reps that companies pull out a of a state when they are required to do age verification. California cannot afford to lose that kind of money. Also specifically speak to Reps who are potentially losing votes or are more easily persuaded by telling them how popular this could be for their careers.

Why is age and id verification required?
Age and ID verification is required to ensure that only legal adults are able to purchase and consume cannabis products. This measure helps to prevent minors from accessing cannabis, which can have negative effects on their health and development.
What is the legal age to buy weed in Edmonton?
The legal age for purchasing and consuming cannabis in Alberta is 18 years old (or 19 in some provinces).
is it possible to buy cannabis without age and id verification from a licensed retailer?
No, it is not possible to buy cannabis without age and ID verification from a licensed retailer in Alberta. Retailers are required by law to verify the age and identity of their customers before selling them cannabis products.
For more info on cannabis retail rules and regulations visit the Official Alberta government website. provides information for cannabis retail store employees and includes a section on the legal requirements for age and ID verification. It states that “It is illegal to sell cannabis to anyone under the legal age or without verifying their age and identity. Retail cannabis stores must check your government-issued photo identification to confirm your age and identity.”
Can I face legal action if I am found Consuming weed if I'm under 18?
Yes, you can face legal action if you are found consuming weed and you are under 18 years old.
what kind of legal action might I face if I am found consuming weed if i am under 18?
If you are found consuming weed and you are under 18 years old in Alberta (or in other provinces where the legal age is 19), you may face legal consequences. The specific penalties may vary depending on the province and the circumstances of the offence, but generally, underage cannabis use is considered a violation of the law.
Possible legal consequences for underage cannabis use can include fines, mandatory education or treatment programs, and even criminal charges in some cases. The severity of the penalties may depend on factors such as the amount of cannabis involved, whether it was consumed in a public place, and whether it was sold or distributed to minors by adults.
It is important to note that underage cannabis use can also have significant health and developmental risks. Cannabis use can impact brain development and lead to negative effects on memory, attention, and learning abilities. Therefore, it is important to abide by the legal age restrictions and to make informed decisions about cannabis use.
Which organization/s enforces these Laws on cannabis?
The Cannabis Act is enforced by various government agencies, including Health Canada, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and local law enforcement agencies.
Why you should not buy weed from illegal/unverified sources in Edmonton?
It is not recommended to buy weed from illegal or unverified sources in Edmonton (or anywhere else). Purchasing cannabis products from illegal sources can be unsafe, as these products may be contaminated or contain harmful substances. Additionally, buying cannabis from illegal sources supports illegal activities and undermines the legal cannabis industry.
which documents can i use for age verification?
In Edmonton, and throughout Alberta, government-issued photo identification cards are the primary documents used for age verification. These include:
Driver’s licenses
Alberta Identification cards
Passport issued by the Government of Canada
These documents typically include the person’s name, date of birth, and photo, which are used to verify their age and identity. It is important to note that the identification card must be current and not expired. Some retail cannabis stores may also accept other government-issued identification documents, such as military identification cards or immigration documents. However, it is best to confirm with the specific retailer what types of identification they accept.
Are my documents for age and id verification safe?
In general, the documents you provide for age and ID verification are safe and secure. Licensed cannabis retailers in Alberta are required to comply with strict privacy and security regulations, including those outlined in the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). These regulations are in place to protect your personal information, including your name, address, date of birth, and any other information that may be included on your ID.
Licensed retailers are required to store your personal information securely and to only use it for the purpose of verifying your age and identity. They are not permitted to share your information with third parties without your consent, except in limited circumstances as outlined by law.
Furthermore, you can find the Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) guidelines for how retailers must handle customer information, including the secure disposal of personal information when it is no longer needed.
Overall, you can feel confident that your documents and personal information are being handled in a secure and responsible manner by licensed cannabis retailers in Alberta.

Australia is planning on banning under 16s from using social media.
So so many reasons this is a stupid idea but the main one is actually, counter-intuitively, ppl's online safety.
Grown ups know how to cross the road safely because they are taught as children. They get to practice with parental supervision when they're kids.
You keep kids off social media then give them unlimited access at 16 and they'll have no frame of reference, no supervision, no working knowledge of how to fact check etc. If you actually want ppl to be safe online, make it part of education.
When discussing Animal Farm in English, talk about how to analyse ideas that sound good but actually result in inequality in practice and then pull up some questionable tweets.
When teaching kids how to research for their next essay, give them a fb rant and show them how to verify the info.
And then whoever is teaching them about personal responsibility should introduce them to tag blocking on tumblr. Show them how to curate their own experience.
Chat gtp should be its own module titled "ai can and will lie to you please for the love of god learn to think for yourself"

I’m really considering making a discord server for the horny trans people on tumblr, like you are all so hot and funny and I need a place to collect you all and we could do movie nights or game nights and it would devolve into an online T4T orgy.

choose violence ask game: 4, 5, 12
4. what was the last straw that made you finally block that annoying person?
tbh i that doesn’t usually happen a lot, i slow to follow someone and largely follow leftists when i do. the times i have i think usually have been antisemitism that they refuse to back down from when asked about. like bro cmon you’re a leftist have a little self reflection and thoughtful listening and research like when you listen to every other minority group
5. worst discord server and why
the server where i was told when i was exploring an au where i made a canon cis male character into a trans butch woman and was told that cis male and trans butch lesbian genders are the same type of masculinity and thus i was perpetuating toxic masculinity 😎 it was a hot fucking mess and stupid as hell i left like two weeks later and found my people elsewhere
second place goes to the server that needed you to go to a secondary verification server to show your real government id and face on the internet to prove that you were 18+ that’s sketchy as hell on several levels, but mostly i feel sad for the people who are so paranoid about accusations of pedophilia they’re going to let their name, address and real photo on the internet to avoid the toxic & paranoid environment antis have created. just make a private server and limit who joins so you can all share brain rot in peace and happiness not every server needs to have thousands of members and BNF mods.
also i think it imploded for unrelated reasons a few days ago.
12. the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
MIRAGE MIRAGE MIRAGE i mean mirage isn’t actually that obscure in the transformers fandom there’s just so many other characters that it’s easy to get lost. hes shitty old money but also lost all his family’s status and doesn’t know anything but also the autobots second best spy and !!!! i have so many thoughts about him and jazz, him and prowl, mirage and the cybertronian religion, how the old money of cybertron worked
second place mikhail from sirius the jeager, sad abused vampire son boy who lost his people and cut off from his culture but knew his younger brother was alive and just needed to stick around long enough to know that yuliy could continue their culture on <3 im not crying you’re crying

AO3 IS IN TROUBLE IF CALIFORNIAN AGE VERIFICATION LAW PASSES
Tumblr media
An upcoming Age verification bill centered in California will be voted on Monday-- And as always, instead of actually protecting kids, it will lead to more online censorship and privacy risks, as it will force websites hosting to verify their users age by sending their ID, your browser history would be linked to it. if you live California, call your reps and tell them to oppose the bill AB3080 as it highly unconstitutional.
They also deem LGBT content harmful to minors, as well as mentions of weapons and tobacco, putting them on the same level as NSFW content.
Since AO3 headquarters reside in California, much like Reddit, Twitter,Discord and Youtube (and others) who knows how bad the effects would be. Instead of just effecting Californians (even then its concerning.) the effects would be US or even worldwide. VPNs wont help.
Please take actions here (a script is included to help you) https://www.defendonlineprivacy.com/ca/action.php
Find your rep here https://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/
You can also send faxes using this https://faxzero.com/
If you don't live in California, please talk about this, tag your friends and urge others to take actions, make posts and tweets using the hashtags AB3080 and NoOnAB3080
More info HERE
Edit: Lots of this information is outdated for a more recent post click here.
Voting has been delaying until Monday May 13th 2024

Move To A Darker Place
This is a story of Man Vs. Machine.
---
Last March, my father attempted to file his Taxes.
My beloved father is a Boomer. Unlike most Boomers, my father is rather handy with technology because he was one of the people that had a not-insignificant hand in Developing a hell of a lot of it. He was studying Computer Science at Cal Poly before the computer science degree existed. I have many fond childhood memories of skipping through the aisles of various electronic and computer part warehouses while Dad described something that either terrified the staff or made them worship him as a God.  He taught himself how to use his smartphone.  Internationally.
So when he saw the option to file digitally with the IRS through the “ID.me” program, he leapt at the chance to celebrate the Federal Government finally entering the Digital Age.
It was all going swimmingly for about six hours, until he was ready to file and the system told him that it needed to verify his identity.
“Very Well.” said my father, a man unafraid of talking to himself and getting something out of the conversation. “It wouldn’t do for me to get someone else’s return.”
The System told him that it needed him to take a “Digital Image ID”.
a.k.a: A Selfie.
“A-ha!” Dad beams. Dad is very good at taking selfies. He immediately pulled out his phone, snapped one, and tried to upload it.
Please log into your Id.me Account and use the provided app to submit your Digital Image ID. The System clarified.
“Oh. You should have said so.”  Dad pouted, but used his phone to log onto the ID.me account, do the six security verification steps and double-checked that the filing looked the same as it did on the desktop, gave the IRS like nine permissions on his phone, and held up the camera to take his Federal Privacy Invasion Selfie.
Please align your face to the indicated grid. Said The System, pulling up a futuristic green-web-of-polygons approximation.
“Ooh, very Star Trek. Gene Roddenberry would HATE this!” Dad said cheerfully, aligning his face to the grid.  My father is a bit… cavalier, when it comes to matters of personal information and federal government, because he’s been on FBI watchlists since the late 60’s when he was protesting The Vietnam War and Ronald Regan before he’d broken containment. Alas.
Anyway, there is very little information the federal government does not have on him already, but he’s as good at stalking the FBI as they are at stalking him, and had worked out a solution:  He has something approaching a friendship with the local Federal Agent (Some guy named “Larry”. Allegedly), and got Larry hooked on Alternative Histories and Dad’s collection of carefully-researched “there is very likely buried treasure here” stories, and Larry is loath to bother his favorite Historical Fanfiction author too much.
But I digress.
After thinking for a minute, The System came back with an Error Message. Please remove glasses or other facial obstructions.
And here is where the real trouble began.
See, my father wears glasses that do substantially warp the appearance of his face, because he is so nearsighted that he is legally blind without them. His natural focal point is about 4 inches in front of his nose.  While Dad can still take a selfie because he (approximately) knows where his phone is if it’s in his hand, he cannot see the alignment grid.
He should ask someone to take it for him! I hear the audience say. Yes, that would be the sane and reasonable thing to do, but Dad was attempting to do taxes at his residence in Fort Collins, while his immediate family was respectively in Denver, Texas and Canada.  He tried calling our neighbors, who turned out to be in Uganda.
He looked down at the dog, Arwen, and her little criminal paws that can open doorknobs, but not operate cell phones.
She looked back at him, and farted.
“Well, I’ll give it a try, but if it gives me too much trouble, I’ll call Larry, and Larry can call the IRS about it.” Dad told her.
She continued to watch him. Arwen is an Australian Kelpie (a type of cattle-herding dog), going on 14 years old, deaf as a post and suffering from canine dementia now, but she still retains her natural instinct to Micromanage. She was also trained as a therapy dog, and even if she can’t hear my dad, still recognizes the body language of a man setting himself up for catastrophe.
So, squinting in the late afternoon light next to the back door, Dad attempted to line his face up with a grid he could only sort-of see, and took A Federal Selfie.
The System thought about it for a few moments.
Image Capture Failed: Insufficient Contrast. The System replied. Please move to a darker place.
“...Huh.” Dad frowned. “Alright.”
He moved to the middle of his office, away from the back door, lit only by the house lighting and indirect sunlight, and tried again.
Image Capture Failed. Please move to a darker place.
“What?” Dad asked the universe in general.
“Whuff.” Arwen warned him against sunk costs.
Dad ignored her and went into the bathroom, the natural habitat of the selfie. Surely, only being lit by a light fixture that hadn’t been changed since Dad was attempting to warn everyone about Regan would be suitably insufficient lighting for The System.  It took some negotiating, because that bathroom is “Standing Room Only” not “Standing And Holding Your Arms Out In Front Of You Room”.  He ended up taking the selfie in the shower stall.
As The System mulled over the latest attempt, Arwen shuffled over and kicked open the door to watch.
Image Capture Failed. Please Move to a Darker Place.
“Do you mean Spiritually?” Dad demanded.
“Whuff.” Arwen cautioned him again.
Determined to succeed, or at least get a different error message that may give him more information, Dad entered The Downstairs Guest Room.  It is the darkest room in the house, as it is in the basement, and only has one legally-mandated-fire-escape window, which has blinds.  Dad drew those blinds, turned off the lights and tried AGAIN.
Image Capture Failed. Please Move To A Darker Place.
“DO YOU WANT ME TO PHOTOGRAPH MYSELF INSIDE OF A CAVE??” Dad howled.
“WHUFF!” Arwen reprimanded him from under the pull-out bed in the room. It’s where she attempts to herd everyone when it’s thundering outside, so the space is called her ‘Safety Cave’.
Dad frowned at the large blurry shape that was The Safety Cave.
“Why not?” he asked, the prelude to many a Terrible Plan.  With no small amount of spiteful and manic glee, Dad got down onto the floor, and army-crawled under the bed with Arwen to try One Last Time. Now in near-total darkness, he rolled on his side to be able to stretch his arms out, Arwen slobber-panting in his ear, and waited for the vague green blob of the Facial grid to appear.
This time, when he tapped the button, the flash cctivated.
“GOD DAMN IT!” Dad shouted, dropping the phone and rubbing his eyes and cursing to alleviate the pain of accidentally flash-banging himself. Arwen shuffled away from him under the bed, huffing sarcastically at him.
Image Capture Failed. Please move to a darker place.
“MOTHERFU- hang on.” Dad squinted.  The System sounded strange. Distant and slightly muffled.
Dad squinted really hard, and saw the movement of Arwen crawling out from under the bed along the phone’s last known trajectory.
“ARWEN!” Dad shouted, awkwardly reverse-army crawling out from under the bed, using it to get to his feet and searching for his glasses, which had fallen out of his pocket under the bed, so by the time he was sighted again, Arwen had had ample time to remove The Offending Device.
He found her out in the middle of the back yard, the satisfied look of a Job Well Done on her face. She did not have the phone.
“Arwen.” Dad glared. It’s a very good glare. Dad was a teacher for many years and used it to keep his class in order with sheer telepathically induced embarrassment, and his father once glared a peach tree into fecundity.
Arwen regarded him with the casual interest a hurricane might regard a sailboat tumbling out of its wake. She is a force of nature unto herself and not about to be intimidated by a half-blind house ape.  She also has cataracts and might not be able to make out the glare.
“I GIVE UP!” Dad shouted, throwing his hands in the air and returning to the office to write to the IRS that their selfie software sucks ass. Pleased that she had gotten her desired result, Arwen followed him in.
To Dad’s immense surprise, the computer cheerfully informed him that his Federally Secure Selfie had been accepted, and that they had received and were now processing his return!
“What the FUCK?” Dad glared. “Oh well. If I’ve screwed it up, Larry can call me.”
---
I bring this up because recently, Dad received an interesting piece of mail.
It was a letter from the IRS, addressed to him, a nerve-wracking thing to recessive at the best of times.  Instead of a complaint about Dad’s Selfie Skills, it was a letter congratulating him on using the new ID.me System.  It thanked him for his help and expressed hopes he would use it again next year, and included the selfie that The System had finally decided to accept.
“You know, my dad used to complain about automation.” Dad sighed, staring at the image. “Incidentals my boy!  My secretary saves the state of California millions of dollars a year catching small errors before they become massive ones! He’d say. Fought the human resources board about her pay every year.  I used to think he was overestimating how bad machines were and underestimating human error, but you know? He was right.”
He handed me the image.
My father was, technically, in the image.  A significant amount of the bottom right corner is taken up by the top of his forehead and silver hair.  Most of the image, the part with the facial-recognition markers on it, was composed of Arwen’s Alarmed and Disgusted Doggy face.
“Oh no!” I cackled. “Crap, does this mean you have to call the IRS and tell them you’re not a dog?”
“Probably.” Dad sighed. “I know who I’m gonna bother first though.” he said, taking out his phone (Dad did find his phone a few hours after Arwen absconded with it when mom called and the early spinach started ringing).
“Hey Larry!” Dad announced to the local federal agent. “You’re never gonna believe this. My dog filed my taxes!”
Larry considered this for a moment. “Is this the dog that stole my sandwich? Out of my locked  car?” he asked suspiciously.
“The very same.” Dad grinned.
“Hm. Clever Girl.” Federal Agent Larry sighed. “I figured it was only a matter of time before she got into tax fraud.”

Help the Al-Habil family survive October.
My other promotion lists
Update: Oct 17
Members: @abdelmutei, @shimaashaban22
Verification: link
Payment methods: Paypal, credit/debit
Donation match: €10
Summary update Sep 26: The Al-Habil family's evacuation campaign is moving very slowly and has dragged on into colder weather. They want to reach their new goal of €20,400 in October to buy food, a tent, and winter clothes (proof under cut). The family has a 2 year old child suffering from severe psychological issues and seizures, so evacuation needs to be a priority after taking care of survival.
Current progress:
€ 11,015 14,411 / 20,400
/ €25,000 (FINAL GOAL)
Abdel Mutei has confirmed that €25,000 is the final goal and not the first goal. The initial goal of €50,000 (changed recently) was a mistake. Proof under cut.
Campaign/family details:
Update Sep 26: Short-term goal made for winter survival.
Tumblr media
[ID in alt text]
This family consists of Abdel Mutei (husband) and Shaima (wife), their young daughter Juri, and Abdel Mutei's elderly parents. The gfm page and some of his posts imply more family members, but only these people are involved in this campaign. I got this info from Abdel Mutei himself (proof under cut).
They were displaced roughly 2 months after Oct 7 after their home was bombed and has been displaced twice since.
They currently live in a small tent. Living conditions are poor and all members are suffering from malnutrition.
The children have recently contacted scabies, a highly contagious skin infection causing great itchiness and discomfort.
Juri is suffering from depression and psychological trauma at the age of 2.
Update Aug 27: Juri is suffering from seizures.
They are seeking to evacuate.
Evidence (and other media posts):
Abdel Mutei confirming that €25,000 is the final goal
Tumblr media
Abdel Mutei clarifying the family members involved in this campaign and that the initial goal of €50,000 was a mistake

Wow... people having to identify themselves to a government because of they are part of a group that is seen as ¨other¨ or because they want to learn about a certain topic...where i have seen this before...
I don't know... maybe what it is considered one of the biggest red flags in steps of dehumanization of groups, mainly minorities?
Btw, this is what the people behind KOSA are trying to impose in all the United States of America.
[Image ID: News politcs article about USA politics that says ¨Kansas governor passes law requiring ID to view acts of 'homosexuality' online, vetoes anti-LGBTQ+ bill¨ /.End ID]
Link to the article: https://www.advocate.com/politics/kansas-veto-age-verification-gender-affirming-care-abortion
Edit: Since this gained more notes, for those who don't know KOSA is, it is a USA bill that was reintroduced on May 2023 (last year). It is called ¨Kids Online Safety Act¨ (KOSA for short). It has been introduced and reintroduced for a while now since 2022. It is meant with the intention to ¨protect kids¨ by restricting their use of internet by pushing age restrictions and people having to present their ID to use internet or access certain websites, quite similar to the Kansas state bill that got passed. Many groups and people have criticized this bill for the potential censorship it can come with it and do more harm to the kids than help them. Possible censorship that has been suggested this bill can bring is LGBT+ content, politics and news, mental health search, political and social opinions in general (adults included). What is more, it has been put into question the possible invasion of privacy for both minors and adults by having to share an identification to use certain websites. That people could get censored or doxxed by doing this.
As for the bill itself, there was a hearing earlier today in the Senate. ( April 17th-Wednesday). It could take a while before it gets voted and has to pass different stages. Then it would take months (18 months) to be implemented if it gets passed.
I'm not American myself, so i'm not sure how much i can do about this. What i do recommend is making calls to senators and people involved in pushing this bill to make clear your disapproval of it. Try sign petitions or just telling others about it.

verification source: bees and watermelons no. 132 (instagram-based account) | linktree follow yousef: @yousefjehad0 | instagram *note: yousef's prev. account, @yousefjehad has been shadowbanned/suppressed
[ID: instagram video made by bees and watermelons; voiceover that says: hi there friends and family- it's sandy! today i'd like to talk about yousef. he's 19 years old- and during this rough time- he's been the sole caretaker of his family. just like you and i, he had a life before this atrocity. had lots of friends to hang out with, school, and dreams. but all those dreams came to a halt for this 19 year old, still so young and has so much life to live. a lot of people have lost their jobs because of what's been happening, but yousef has managed to work to make money to make sure his father gets his medicine and the family get what they need. sometimes he wouldn't have enough for himself to eat, so he'd go without food for days just to make sure his family is taken care of. so that is why yousef and his family need your help. at this young age, yousef should be having fun- going to school- not have to take the full responsibility of taking care of his whole family. so please donate what you can to him. let's come together as a community and save gaza. END ID]
---
the cost of living in gaza is ridiculously high-- families must pay for tents (and continue to need to purchase one as they are continuously displaced), firewood, food, medicine, etc. anything you may consider a simple task requires hours of labor for palestinians currently under bombardment
yousef holds the weight of the world on his shoulders- he works very hard, yet earns very little. if you are able, please consider donating to his campaign 🖤multiple family members are ill and in need of medical care. please share his story so that others may come to his aid
current stats: $750 raised of $15,000 goal

hi. why is nobody talking about the porn ban in north carolina? the PAVE act is a bill that was passed back in september 2023 (came into law january 1st 2024) that effectively bans users from viewing websites hosting adult content without age verification. (link to the bill)
"-the act legally requires commercial ventures to verify users’ ages if a company “knowingly and intentionally publishes or distributes material harmful to minors on the internet from a website that contains a substantial portion of such material.”
In order to do so, North Carolina requires these sites to either use “a commercially available database that is regularly used by businesses or governmental entities for the purpose of age and identity verification,” or utilize “another commercially reasonable method of age and identity verification.” Companies are not allowed to hold records on any personally identifying information used to confirm users’ ages.
Additionally, North Carolina offers residents the right to a lawsuit if a site is found to record user identifying information, or if a minor’s parent or guardian finds that a website allowed their child to access a site purposefully hosting material “harmful to minors.”" obviously we don't want these websites having our IDs, but sites like e621 and pornhub just straight up aren't asking for them either- blocking their service to the state in it's entirety instead. even beyond the restriction of adult websites, obviously as the 'queerest place on the net' we can see how "material that is harmful to minors" is not just intentional vague wording, but a massive red flag. even if you dont care about the porn- which you should, this is a massive rights violation. how long until 'harmful material' is expanded to include transgender people? same-sex relationships? anything lgbtq? this is a serious fucking problem and it opens the door to hundreds of potentially worse bills that extrapolate on the same concept.
i have no idea what to do to fight it, but if someone smarter than me could add links to representatives or something, that would be awesome.
i'm also going to tag a few people to get this post out: @polyamorouspunk @safety-pin-punk @doggirlbreasts (i have no idea who else to tag, if any of you can think of someone who can help this post get out there, please tag them!)
