Dislikes: Malicious comments against Donald or Panchito
José Carioca is a sub-vocalist and dancer of the Three Caballeros, the latin-pop boy band. He is also a Samba pop/jazz singer in Brazil. From same university with his two friends Panchito and Donald, the group was formed sharing same passion and pursuit for music career. In most of their songs, José takes control in dance break to rile up the fans at concert. The most calm and polite individual, he is the peacemaker between his team and other rivaling musicians in a middle of intense rivalry. Among the trio, José is most known for having great counts of scandal (with men, women, non-binary, etc).
Born in Xurupita village since childhood, he usually hang out with his childhood friends Nestor, Afonsinho and Pedrão. It is known he has six cousins who live in separate states within Brazil. While he loved to sing, he began to fear of losing his singing voice as he entered puberty. Believing that changing his male reproductive organ to female's would solve his fear, he used all his part-time job money to pay for the surgery, which miraculously, he was able to retain his androgynous singing voice. With his natural talents in dancing and singing, he decided to move to United States in order to learn performing arts as soon as he graduated high school. At one point, he struggled to carry his musical instruments and was about to fall until Donald caught him and his instruments safely. Impressed, José quickly befriended him. When hearing of forming a band, José offered his idea of having three in a group as both scouted Panchito, the Mexican student. Since then, the three friends wrote songs and performed from USA to other Latin American nations. When he confessed to them of his past of surgery, the two nonetheless accepted José. When they were preparing for Europe Tour, Donald's neck was injured causing him to unable to sing. José was seen tearfully bidding goodbye to Donald who left for his 4 years of service in the Navy. Due to the recording company's high demanding and irresponsible supervisions/control, both José and Panchito left the company. While Panchito became a mariachi and Mexican pop singer in Mexico, José returned to Brazil where he became a Samba pop/jazz singer under the stage name Zé. He reunited with his childhood friends and encountered Rosinha Vaz, beginning his relationship with her.
At some point, he thought of marrying Rosinha but was harshly scorned by her father Rocha Vaz who have already planned to set her up with Galdino “Zé Galo” Chaves, the Top1 wealthiest in Brazil. José was unfairly scorned by Rosinha's father, calling him "Castrato Tranny", mocking Panchito and Donald and insulted his family. In anger for the first time, José warned him to never mock his family, friends and their dream, adding that the old man had jinxed himself and would die someday with all money useless to him. While dated Rosinha, he felt as if she was putting him and Zé Galo on the hook, growing less confident of himself. Yet, he find himself occasionally befriend his love rival. One day, he received a call from Panchito about the plan to restore Donald's singing voice. Understanding Donald's wish to comeback as "Three Caballeros", he put his friend's dream first as he broke up with Rosinha and agreed to perform in the hotel owned by Chaves family. With enough money earned, he left Brazil and moved back to USA. When Donald's voice was finally cured, the three made their comeback in House of Mouse, confirming their return and continuing their careers together.
Because of his experience in raising two nephews before Donald's surgery, José is one of very few who is able to handle Huey, Dewey and Louie's antics. Being a member representing LGBTQ+, majority of his fans are of same community and often perform songs in Pride Parades/Carnivals. He has a somewhat naive side when advised by Donald in writing songs through expressing or telling stories genuinely, José released his single song "Amazonian Cuckhold" based on the legend of Encantado/the Amazonian Pink Dolphin, adding spice with story in a song; in a POV of Encantado who found the lonely girl in a party as her boyfriend stood her up with other girls, so Encantado wooed/seduced the girl while insulting her boyfriend. Despite the censorship, the song has become a cautionary tale to never take the received love for granted or someone better would steal their lover away.

Zé Carioca Comic Translation - Sem Graça/Not Funny
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This has got to be one of my fave comics. It’s so interesting to see how Zé’s unique outlook on life sets him apart, and here even isolates him, from the others. They took it personally while it was really just the occurrence that struck Zé as funny :p

Happy 80th birthday, José Carioca (Zé Carioca)!
On this day, August 24, 1942, a Disney film called Saludos Amigos was shown, which shows exotic places in South America, primarily Brazil. Yes, although the film had propaganda content in which Brazil entered World War II on the side of the Allies, there was certainly an educational and entertaining content. That film brings something else special. In that film, a character named José Carioca appears for the first time, a parrot from Brazil who is very attractive and friendly and becomes Donald's best friend. Yes, Donald was the then ambassador for making new friends in South America. Later, in the movie The Three Caballeros, Donald will make another best friend, Panchito Pistoles from Mexico. And so the famous trio, The Three Caballeros, was born.
Nevertheless, José Zé Carioca, who first appeared in the movie Saludos Amigos, celebrates his birthday today. And the 80th birthday. Also, I wish him a happy birthday.
One of my favorite Duckverse characters and one of the best fictional parrots, he certainly has a long history as well. After two films, José Carioca also appears in Melody Time, Carnival Time, Mickey Mouse Works, House of Mouse, Mickey and the Roadster Racers, Mickey Mouse Cartoons by Paul Rudish, Ducktales reboot and finally, of course, in Legends of the Three Caballeros. Although he often appears with Panchito in the animation, he is still a separate character. He certainly retained the classic personality he had in the original film. He certainly ended up being great in Mickey Mouse Cartoons and The Legend of the Three Caballeros. Yes, watch out for the accent on his name, he is from Brazil, and Brazilian Portuguese is spoken there.
Apart from animation, José Carioca often appears in comics specially published in Brazil, where he has a different and big role. Besides being a friend of Donald and Panchito, he certainly has his own friends in Brazil such as Nestor, Pedrão Feijoada, Afonsinho and others, also he has his own girlfriend named Rosinha Maria Vaz, who is similar to Donald's girlfriend Daisy. Just like Donald has his nephews, José also has nephews named Zico and Zeca Carioca. Yes, I'm not talking about his family, especially he has a lot of relatives, and he also has his grandmother. I have to admit that I'm not that familiar with Brazilian comics, as well as with the José Carioca family, but I'm certainly gaining more knowledge about them on the Internet lately, and I'm grateful to my friends who introduced me to this world of Zé Carioca comics.
Yes, apart from comics, José is also present in video games and as a mascot and in various Disney merchandise and is quite popular in Latin America, primarily in Brazil and Mexico, but also outside Latin America, such as in Japan. And not to forget, also Jose's very mischievous friend, Aracuan Bird who lives in the Amazon Rainforest.
Certainly, there is a lot to say, and this is more than enough. Now the most important pictures of José Carioca from the beginning until today, with his friends and his family. Happy 80th birthday, José Carioca!
If you love this Brazilian parrot, as well as his friends and his family, feel free to like this and reblog this!

Quack Pack in Zé Carioca way - Squawk Pack - Zé Carioca Comics and Quack Pack AU
Yes, I drew this on the occasion of Zé Carioca's 80th anniversary, that is, his 80th birthday.
Yes, this has to do with the modern Zé Carioca comics so I drew this but added something of my own. Yes, I didn't read a lot of Zé Carioca comics, but I saw some things that reminded me of a show that reminds me of it in terms of dynamics and comedy. Yes, it's Quack Pack, and I know a lot of people don't like it, but I still enjoyed it. And yes, I plan to make my own Quack Pack AU (which I'm currently doing), but in my headcanon it's based more on the comics than the actual show. Yes, even though Quack Pack is not based on the comics, it certainly had a lot of elements from the comics and had a dynamic similar to it. Especially the relationship between Donald and his nephews. So the Zé Carioca comics from the 1990s and 2000s remind me of that, so I decided to draw a redraw, but related to the Zé Carioca world. I've already drawn related Quack Pack poses for Donald, Daisy, Huey, Dewey and Louie as well as April, May and June and you can check it out here: https://ducktoonsfanart.tumblr.com/post/666638356269121536/this-time-the-same-drawing-but-colored-this
To return to the topic, yes in his Quack Pack AU, José Carioca (also known as Zé Carioca) is certainly present as well as his family and friends. But Zé Carioca also has similar problems as his best friend Donald, as far as taking care of his nephews Zico and Zeca, his girlfriend Rosinha Maria Vaz, as well as his friends such as Nestor, but also his rival Ze Gallo. So in this case this Quack Pack can be called, as far as Zé Carioca is concerned, the Squawk Pack, because parrots say squawk, while ducks quack. Here too, the roles are well known. Zé Carioca plays Donald Duck (if you think Uncle Donald is a terrible uncle, then you don't know what Zé Carioca is really like), of course in his 1990s outfits and with his personalities, Rosinha Maria Vaz plays Daisy Duck, Zico and Zeca Carioca as teenagers play the Donalds nephews ( in the Zé Carioca comics they are shown as 10 year old boys and they cause all kinds of trouble for their uncle, but here they are teenagers who also cause trouble and that Zico is like Huey and Dewey, while Zeca is like Louie in my headcanon and they are HDL peers ), Nestor probably plays Gwupki or some friend, I'm not sure, and additional guest Aracuan Bird, since he lives in the Amazon jungle, so he should come, and he causes a lot of problems. Of course there are also additional guests Zé Carioca's relatives, partly relatives from Nestor, partly relatives from Rosinha, Zé Gallo, Afonsinho, Pedrão and other friends of Zé Carioca. Yes, they are in the world with humans, but other anthropomorphic animals are also present. At least according to my headcanon. And it happens in Brazil, mainly in Rio de Janeiro and its surroundings. Yes, Nestor and Ze Carioca are secretly in a relationship.
I hope you liked this drawing and this idea and once again I wish a happy birthday to José Carioca (Zé Carioca)! And don't be angry that I did this. And don't worry, there will be more surprises.
