Lesbian furries cause that's apparently the only thing that my brain would let me draw tonight. It's kind of forbidden romance vibe with an afghan hound and an oriental shorthair cat

A thing.
John isn't much of a crier. He isn't given to outbursts of emotion which involve tears. Anger, derision, hope even, but almost never tears. He doesn't even cry when Mary dies. There's a guttural, almost primal scream of rage that echoes through him, but he doesn't cry. A soldier who never came back from the war, holding back emotion for it upsets his conduct with what he used to hold himself.
The first time we do see him cry is at the beginning of the very first episode, where he wakes up from a nightmare about being on the front and is suicidal enough to keep a revolver in his desk drawer. London disinterests him, for he craves the feeling Afghanistan used to get him, and yet, cannot overcome the fact that it incapacitated him in the first place. He cannot let go of it, even though he knows he must, because a part of him died there.
And then he meets this eccentric idiot who could tell that he was a soldier and has a drunk sibling and takes him around town on crime solves and asks his opinion on details that he considers important to the point where he starts a blog to remember what they were, to finding out government toppling seductresses and hounds as big as horses and nearly getting blown up by the most dangerous criminal mastermind the world has seen, to harpooning pigs and late night violin sessions and blasting the shit out of walls, and he finds it back. He finds that part of him that he wanted to be - but he doesn't have to live through the plague of the front.
And then, that man, that man who saved John's life in ways more than one though he himself is said to have credited John with the same, is defamed within twenty four hours by wrapping up many small truths with one big lie, to the point where he has to die to keep what he loves safe because he thinks they're infinitely more worth everything than what he is, and without a doubt, jumps off of a hospital to save John, once again.
They visit his grave, later. Some things, he still cannot let go of, even though he knows he must. It's funny, because that is akin to bidding farewell to the reason you chose to try at all.
The Doctor who never really got back home from the war, and the beautiful Maniac who liked to dance when he thought no one was watching.
"One more miracle for me, Sherlock. Don't be dead."
And that, is the second and only other time John Watson cried.

What, do you think, was Ocelot's opinion on Jackal when he first met him? And what was Jackal's characteristics/description provided to Ocelot?
His first opinion on meeting Jackal properly when Venom brought him back to Mother Base sedated after rescuing him was probably along the lines of ‘so this is the little shit that’s been trying to kill the Boss for several months.’
I little bit of a background to give some context (I say a bit it’s a really fucking long summary so I’m sorry about that lmao it does provide the context as to why Ocelot feels the way he does about him though):
The first time Jackal tried to kill Venom was at the hospital in Cyprus after Venom woke up from the 9 year coma but he arrived after all hell had been let loose and the hospital was on fire and decided ‘yeah ok maybe not today’ and just turned back around. However he did wait around a bit and started tracking Venom and Ocelot to Afghanistan, which is where he started actually trying to kill him (obviously it didn’t go to plan). This is also when Ocelot realised they were being followed so he started keeping tabs on Jackal too.
Fast forward a bit, turns out it was Cipher who had posed as a client and hired Jackal through the mercenary organisation he was affiliated with to kill Big Boss, which Jackal was not aware of but it explained why some of his mercenary buddies had gone missing recently because they were hired to do the same thing as him which he is now the replacement for so now he’s pissed, and unfortunately since he’d failed to kill Venom several times Cipher deemed him no longer useful so they handed him over to the Soviets under the false claims that he was allied with Venom and that he was helping to sabotage and blow up their facilities. Soviets decide ‘ok well we fucking hate this guy and the man he works for let’s torture him until he dies but draw out his suffering to send a message to Big Boss’ so Jackal’s then being held captive at one of their stations where there are some other prisoners.
A few days later, Jackal is hanging onto his life by a thread, been beaten up and tortured really badly, bleeding with broken bones, all that lovely stuff—luckily this is one of the places Venom has been tasked to infiltrate and rescue the prisoners, especially those who could be useful. Eventually he finds where Jackal is being held captive after looking through the cells, and as Ocelot is keeping an eye on Venom in his mission as usual, he recognises this fucker as the merc who’s been hounding Venom for months but realises that ‘wait if he’s here that means he’s an enemy of Cipher we could use him’ so they decide to haul his ass back to Mother Base. Whilst Jackal is in a lot of pain and exhausted, he’s still awake so he hears this exchange (or at least Venom’s side of it) and as soon as Venom approaches Jackal to pick him up, he tries to lash out because ‘this is the guy I’ve been trying to kill for months and he’s the reason my friends are dead’ and Jackal manages to bite him, which with his metal fang causes a gash in Venom’s arm, and in exchange Venom gives him a little gift (tranq dart to the neck).
Jackal wakes up in a room on the medical platform at Mother Base, muzzled and handcuffed to the bed so he can’t escape or attack anyone, which was Ocelot’s idea, because whilst Venom recognises that he’s dangerous and he’s attempted to kill him, Ocelot’s the one who’s been collecting information on him and has a file for Jackal, so he knows that this is a man who’s been a soldier for over half of his life and is known for his untrustworthiness and ruthlessness, and that the only reason he didn’t succeed in killing his last target was because he was up against Venom, no way in Hell was he going to let that man on Mother Base without ensuring he couldn’t hurt anyone, even if he’s severely injured and barely able to move. So it’s safe to say that Ocelot absolutely does not trust him. His affiliation with Cipher also doesn’t help. Whilst Jackal is nowhere near as dangerous as Quiet who also had an affiliation with Cipher, Quiet’s only tried to kill Venom a couple of times and mostly seems to fight back if provoked (from what I remember anyway it’s been a while since I’ve played TPP), whereas Jackal has tried to kill Venom about 10 times over a longer time span and will attack unexpectedly for seemingly no reason (Venom rescued Jackal a while after Quiet was recruited and he was still trying to kill this man at that point).
This is also why Ocelot is Jackal’s handler—whilst he has no doubts that Venom can handle himself in a fight against Jackal, he’d rather not risk it. Plus Venom’s not the resident torturer, and if Jackal tried to still kill Venom after being beaten and tortured by the Soviets for several days even after how weak he was then it will probably take a lot to get him to calm down fully, and Ocelot’s more than prepared to take on that responsibility.
In terms of the information Ocelot had of Jackal before joining Mother Base, when Jackal first started hunting them, Ocelot got a look at the patch he wore which had the logo of the merc organisation he was associated with and managed to find his files in their database—there wasn’t a lot of information on him, mostly his real name, nickname and a couple of photos of him as well as D.O.B., height and weight, nationality etc. There was also information of how long he’d been a merc for, where he previously served and how long as well as a general run-down of his proficiencies and fighting style. There were a couple of important things that weren’t in his file, such as the benign tumours on his adrenal glands that caused him to produce excess adrenaline which contributed to his fast reflexes, tirelessness, alertness, high pain tolerance and aggressive tendencies as well as his panic attacks and sudden outbursts, but Ocelot found this out after a medical examination after he was brought back to Mother Base and being treated for his injuries. Cue Ocelot testing different drugs and medication on Jackal to see which ones calm him down the most or reduce his adrenaline levels to get him to behave normally. Another thing that wasn’t in his file is that he’s a surprisingly good welder, so when he’s not training or in a mission he’ll usually be in R&D and helping develop things.
Going back a bit to Ocelot’s view of Jackal when he first met him, apart from the fact he posed a threat, he realised that Jackal was just. Rude. Him being a soldier for 20 years apparently didn’t get rid of his authority issues. He doesn’t like listening to people which is something that got on Ocelot’s nerves. He did realise Jackal’s potential to be a very useful soldier so he refused to give up on him but he just absolutely could not stand him. Which is why in a lot of my art where those two are together they won’t be seen getting along lmao.

Update!
In this chapter, Eddie starts to Lose It™ (not that he would admit it (it also for sure has nothing to do with buck having a new boyfriend btw)), Buck gets a new couch, and the word "Fine" is repeated 34 times.
Chapters: 5/20 Fandom: 9-1-1 (TV) Relationships: Evan "Buck" Buckley/Eddie Diaz (9-1-1 TV) Rating: M | Words: 36k (slow burn babey)
Chapter Snippet:
Once, at Buck's request, Eddie had watched a documentary about a tribe deep in the Amazon rainforest. When the boys of the tribe reached twelve years old, they could go through a rite of passage to become men. For the rite, they had to put their hands inside gloves filled with Bullet Ants, one of the most painful insect bites on the entire planet. They kept their hands in the gloves as they danced and the ants stung. And Eddie was horrified. As a father, as a son, as a man himself. But he kept wondering about it. Wondering what it’d feel like for him — to earn his manhood through one single ritual. Not having to slowly learn and muddle his way through it. Not having to be repeatedly punched in the face by his failures at it. Thrown into the Texas dirt, dragged through the Afghanistan desert, crushed by 40 feet of Californian earth. The thought made him at ease. Attaining manhood by trading in a few days of semi-unbearable pain. Eddie had had quite a few of those already. But they didn’t make him feel more like a man. He just kept fucking failing.
Read Chapter 5 on AO3.

afghan hound!!🐾
the afghan hound is a sighthound (hunting dog used to track prey mostly using sight) originating from the cold mountains of afghanistan, distinguished by its gorgeous thick, silky coat! the akc describes the breed as, "aloof and dignified aristocrat of sublime beauty" despite this description though, they are still very silly and loyal!!
history
although the afghan is an ancient breed, there is no pictorial record of the afghans. there is a drawing done in 1813 depicting an afghan soldier with a dog that looks similar to the afghan hound of today, indicating that the breed hasn't changed much in appearance even after 200 years! (・o・) the afghan hound was brought to britain by military men as a living souvenir from the exotic lands of where they were posted (kinda messed up)
there were a few dogs imported to the uk during the late 1800s-early 1900s like "shahzada", a cream dog whose body was preserved by the british museum and "zardin" who had many characteristics prized in the breed even today such as his “snowshoe” feet and the visible saddle on his back. he was so awesome ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ ) that he became the model for the first afghan hound breed standard, written in 1910-1920.
in the 1920s the importation of afghans rose. the first afghan hound kennel in the uk had desert (also called steppe or bell murray) type dogs which had sparse, silky and light coats. by contrast, the mountain (also called ghazni) type dogs had heavier coats and greater angulation. a ghazni type dog named "sirdar" became very popular as he looked much like zardin, the previous headline maker. eventually both types were crossbred with each other, creating the afghan hounds we have today!!
appearance
afghan hounds generally weigh about 23-27 kg (50-60 lbs) with a height of about 64-69 cm (25-27 in) with a life expectancy of about 12-18 years. it has a thick, silky, flowing coat which is long in length ☆ the saddle hair, or the hair along the back, is short, close and coarser than the rest of the coat and should (by breed standard) have a smooth appearance.
afghan hounds also have a long, silky topknot and a hood of long hair may form from the top of the neck and flow into the shoulders and withers. the hair on their muzzle and cheeks is very short and fine and the hair on their neck may be almost bare of long hair and become an extension of the saddle.
following the breed standard, a LOT of colours are accepted. accepted colours are black, black and tan, black and silver, blue, cream, blue and cream, red, silver and white. accepted markings are black masks, brindles, brindle and black masks, dominos and brindle and dominos!
temperament
afghan hounds are independent, dignified, and aloof but are affectionate and extremely loyal to the humans they have bonded with! ᡣ𐭩 this loyalty can make it difficult for an adult afghan to adjust to a new home though, but it can make them fairly easy to housetrain because they want to please their owners ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ )
grooming
afghan hound pups have short, fuzzy coats that require little maintenance. it doesnt stay that way though ૮◞ ﻌ ◟ა as the long, silky coat of an adult afghan requires regular grooming. HOURS of brushing per week (not daily; phew!) is needed to maintain a smooth coat free of debris, mats and tangles. regular bathing, with shampoo and conditioner, is also required to keep its hair soft and silky. what a diva! (っ- ‸ - ς)
health
afghan hounds are prone to developing hypothyroidism (condition causing decrease in thyroid hormone production), necrotic myelopathy (loss of myelin from the spinal cord, can result in paralysis), sensitivity to anaesthesia and cortisone (vets will help guide afghan owners towards the most appropriate anaesthesia options), gastric dilatation volvulus (gdv; often known as ‘bloat’, a condition where the stomach twists, trapping the contents and gases), panosteitis (a painful, inflammatory bone disease) and laryngeal paralysis (a progressive paralysis of the larynx).
they may also develop eye problems and hip dysplasia, which, by responsible breeders, are conditions tested for along with a thyroid evaluation.
exercise
afghans are sighthounds, bred to hunt and chase prey by sight, so they have a strong instinct to run off in pursuit of anything perceived as prey, causing walking off leash to be not advisable. short walks do not provide enough exercise for this athletic breed so ideally, an afghan hound should have the opportunity to run several times a week for at least two hours in a large, enclosed area. afghans are tall, lean, and strong, which makes them excellent jumpers, so their exercise area must have a high, secure fence! ∩^ω^∩
training
as stated earlier they are very loyal to their owners and are eager to please them and are quite easy to house train. teaching afghans general commands is sufficient training, although no amount of training will overcome the breeds hunting instinct to break off on a high-speed chase unfortunately ʅ (◞‿◟) ʃ
fun fact: the afghan hounds long fur was originally developed to protect them from the harsh climate of the mountainous regions of afghanistan, acting as insulation!! ૮ • ﻌ - ა

Since the 1960s, universities have always been hotbeds of left-wing protests, sometimes violently so.
But the post-October 7 campus eruptions marked a watershed difference.
Masked left-wing protestors were unashamedly and virulently anti-Semitic. Students on elite campuses especially showed contempt for both middle-class police officers tasked with preventing their violence and vandalism and the maintenance workers who had to clean up their garbage.
Mobs took over buildings, assaulted Jewish students, called for the destruction of Israel, and defaced American monuments and commentaries.
When pressed by journalists to explain their protests, most students knew nothing of the politics or geography of Palestine, for which they were protesting.
The public concluded that the more elite the campus, the more ignorant, arrogant, and hateful the students seemed.
The Biden administration destroyed the southern border. Ten million illegal aliens swarmed into the U.S. without audit. Almost daily, news accounts detail violent acts committed by illegal aliens or their surreal demands for more free lodging and support.
Simultaneously, thousands of Middle Eastern students, invited by universities on student visas, block traffic, occupy bridges, disrupt graduations, and generally show contempt for the laws of their American hosts.
The net result is that Americans are reappraising their entire attitude toward immigration. Expect the border to be closed soon and immigration to become mostly meritocratic, smaller, and legal, with zero tolerance for immigrants and resident visitors who break the laws of their hosts.
Americans are also reappraising their attitudes toward time-honored bureaucracies, the courts, and government agencies.
The public still cannot digest the truth that the once respected FBI partnered with social media to suppress news stories, to surveil parents at school board meetings, and to conduct performance art swat raids on the homes of supposed political opponents.
After the attempts of the Department of Justice to go easy on the miscreant Hunter Biden but to hound ex-president Donald Trump for supposedly removing files illegally in the same fashion as current President Biden, the public lost confidence not just in Attorney General Merrick Garland but in American jurisprudence itself.
The shenanigans of prosecutors like Fani Willis, Letitia James, and Alvin Bragg, along with overtly biased judges like Juan Merchant and Arthur Engoron, only reinforced the reality that the American legal system has descended into third-world-like tit-for-tat vendettas.
The same politicization has nearly discredited the Pentagon. Its investigations of “white” rage and white supremacy found no such organized cabals in the ranks. But these unicorn hunts likely helped cause a 45,000-recruitment shortfall among precisely the demographic that died at twice their numbers in the general population in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Add in the humiliating flight from Kabul, the abandonment of $50 billion in weapons to the Taliban terrorists, the recent embarrassment of the failed Gaza pier, and the litany of political invective from retired generals and admirals. The result is that the armed forces have an enormous task to restore public faith. They will have to return to meritocracy and emphasize battle efficacy, enforce the uniform code of military justice, and start either winning wars or avoiding those that cannot be won.
Finally, we are witnessing a radical inversion in our two political parties. The old populist Democratic Party that championed lunch-bucket workers has turned into a shrill union of the very rich and subsidized poor. Its support of open borders, illegal immigration, the war on fossil fuels, transgenderism, critical legal and race theories, and the woke agenda are causing the party to lose support.
The Republican Party is likewise rebranding itself from a once-stereotyped brand of aristocratic and corporate grandees to one anchored in the middle class.
Even more radically, the new populist Republicans are beginning to appeal to voters on shared class and cultural concerns rather than on racial and tribal interests.
The results of all these revolutions will shake up the U.S. for decades to come.
Soon we may see a Georgia Tech or Purdue degree as far better proof of an educated and civic-minded citizen than a Harvard or Stanford brand.
We will likely jettison the failed salad bowl approach to immigration and return to the melting pot as immigration becomes exclusively legal, meritocratic, and manageable.
To avoid further loss of public confidence, institutions like the FBI, the CIA, the Pentagon, and the DOJ will have to re-earn rather than just assume the public’s confidence.
And we may soon accept the reality that Democrats reflect the values of Silicon Valley plutocrats, university presidents, and blue-city mayors, while Republicans become the home of an ecumenical black, Hispanic, Asian, and white middle class.
