saw your vampire jy post and i immediately started thinking about him sadly drinking on a bottle of your blood at work because he cant just call you to feed you’ve got your own things to do during the day and he doesnt want to bother you but the blood just doesn’t taste right to him he needs to suck it directly from you 😞give this man his walking bloodbag back
Your brain is so so huge anon.
Of course you can’t readily be available each time he needs to feed. You two developed some backups for unforeseen circumstances and the like.
This was one of such instances where he’s left without your presence to enrich his day. The Seat of Divine Foresight is always cold and bleak when your visit isn’t expected.
So Jing Yuan is left at his desk, eyes scanning document after document with eyes occasionally darting to the main entrance. Like a fool, part of him hopes your schedule changes. No such luck today.
cw | blood, alcohol
Tumblr media
An intricate cup sits near him, dark red wine fragrant as he swirls it before taking a sip. His brows scrunch momentarily, savoring the flavor. The placebo isn’t enough. And without company he can hardly convince himself to enjoy a glass.
He reaches into his desk, hand wandering to the very back where a compartment in the wood above sits cool to the touch. A light press and it opens for him to dig out a small vial of crimson liquid.
The fragrance of the wine changes immediately upon adding it. He knows he should be using only a few drops but Jing Yuan is also aware you will be back in three days whereas the entire vial of blood will tide him over for at least five.
The liquid swirls in his cup—aged and with an iron-like scent. It’s not the same on his tongue. Cold and devoid of the meaning he craves. Lacking pulse and pleasure.
It’s never the same as the lovely scent of the blood that runs hot through your veins. The liquid burns like a fine rum down his throat when he feeds from you directly—drunk on your taste.
He can’t help but recall each time he’s sunk his teeth into you as he swirls the remnants of the wine, head resting against his fist while the documents remain ignored on his desk. Yearning will do him more harm than good, but Jing Yuan is only rarely selfish. You’d scold him if you saw him sulking like this.
He knocks back the remainder of the wine, not particularly proud of the lack of elegance it probably displays. There’s hardly anyone at the main room of Seat of Divine Foresight at this time of night anyway. His teeth ache where they anticipate your skin with the taste of your crimson liquid on his tongue.
It’s a bittersweet feeling. One that will have to do until you’re back.

the softness john b and jj have for each other
especially that episode
the way jj immediately goes to john b when he sees the memorial on the tree
that hug and jj telling him how much he missed him
and way even before that the freeze in charleston when they lock eyes and it stays panned on jj's face
and the softness john b shows him when he makes the decision and lowers jj's gun, drops it to the ground, the way they're standing and the imploring way john b tells him it's going to be alright
i know they're the same age but that's his baby brother right there!!!

Sorry for asking such a personal question, but how did you come out to your parents?
very anticlimacticly. After turning 23 I told my dad I thought about becoming a woman and he was generally understanding of the matter (a firm believer in once his kid is over 21 theres nothing he can really do to stop em from whatever they plan to do). I haven't talked to my mom in 8 years and I'm planning to keep it that way (unrelated to anything lgbt shes just an actual sociopath)

"They didn’t just go after Jewish targets...Amazingly, they also attacked the Jordanian and Palestinian Authority UN missions, probably the two most important official venues in New York City for promoting the Palestinian cause, but both opposed by...Hamas and PFLP."
Hate and violence are not activism. All this does is undermine and smear the efforts of REAL activists working towards peaceful and equitable solutions and focusing their efforts on helping vulnerable people rather than spreading bigotry and fear.
Some people in the West seem focused on using this conflict as an excuse to form violent mobs and don't seem to know the first thing about true activism and, just like Hamas, apparently don't actually care about Palestine and are just using the suffering of the Palestinian people to further their own hateful goals. Hamas has brutally oppressed the people of Gaza since seizing control following Israel's withdrawal in 2005.
People who care about supporting Hamas or who just want to use allegedly "supporting Palestine" as an excuse to attack and harass Jews are despicable and are an insult to all Palestinian people and to the work of the true activists working to help Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank. Supporting Hamas is not the same as supporting Palestine and anyone who claims otherwise is just supporting oppression and making things worse.

Gpda did the right thing, honestly £10.000 for swearing in a press conference (or no fine???) then only £5.000 for doing an extra formation lap.
That shit wasn’t adding up 🤔🤔🤔
Also what do you do with their money huh?? 🤨🤨🤨🤨

I feel like HypMic is at this weird point where they are lingering on how they want to proceed forward. I feel like the music for the 2nd DRB was very experimental, and I did appreciate that even if I didn't like all the music (except for that DragonAsh song tho that was ass LOL). It feels like KR is struggling with how to move forward with telling a story while using the voting system, as such they've kinda written themselves into a corner. Like it was obvious they wanted FP to win the 2nd DRB because it was needed for plot. But at the same time it really feels like the plot has slowed to a crawl at the same time, and between that and the music creeping away from rap you're kinda left with a feeling of disappointment overall. It esp hits harder when you're a fan of BAT and DH given how under utilized they still are in the grand scheme of things. But given how they placed them geographically it feels like yet another instance of KR accidentally writing them into a corner and struggling to rectify that so they can be more relevant but also make it make sense, idk. I still love Kuko no matter what even if the series is currently languishing. (it also doesn't help that there isn't really any unified fandom because of politics, too much content too fast, and people being so oshi-pilled they have no interest in touching content that doesn't interest them. Which again, sucks as BAT fan cuz we don't really have a translator solider for us.)
what’s really really annoying about that, is that it has been put out there that we’ve entered the third act in hypmic’s story and tho it’s not always necessarily the case, usually that means we are heading towards an end. and we are starting to see an end with a lot of og division plot threads so to be closer to the end than not and still having like a third of your cast floundering around is not good!!!!! at all lol!!!! unless there’s a max effort push to bring nagosaka into the fold, it really does feel like nagosaka, no matter what, will feel under utilised
hypmic’s slow to come plot bombs have been a staple since the beginning so i’m not mad at it, esp since i suspect those long waits have something to do with production values and making the next shiny, economically stimulating thing lol, but you’re right about it not being great rn when everything else is not great lol
but i will say hypmic has its formulas. like the way first solos were surface level character introduction raps and the second solos went into depth, for the og divisions, their first drb and preceding dramas were introductory and the 2nd drb dramas really dug deep into them. so hopefully the same will happen for nagosaka when the 3rd drb drama hits them lol 🤞

Palestinians to platform, part 1
مؤمن الناطور / Moumen Al-Natour
@MoumALnatour
رئيس الشباب الفلسطيني للتنمية / President of Palestinian Youth for Development
Moumen Al-Natour is amazing. Not only does he run a Palestinian youth organization that is doing great work in Gaza, but he's also one of the organizers of the 2019 anti-Hamas protests.
Even to criticize Hamas, in Gaza, means to be interrogated, and potentially jailed, tortured, and/or killed. To actively protest Hamas is many times more dangerous.
To have survived that work and continued doing it? I cannot imagine the emotional strength this dude has.
Here's what Center for Peace Communications (another great organization) has said about him:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So many Palestinians, in or from Palestine, are out there talking about what everyday life in Gaza is like. About Hamas, about Israel, about what they want and what they need, about their struggles and their interests and their families.
My goal, in finding people for you to follow and platform, is to help more voices get out of Gaza after years of suppression, and to help more outsiders (like me) connect with them.
People care SO MUCH about Palestine. But frequently, all there is to share is outrage, semi-accurate news, and more outrage. Frequently, we're not calling for the same things they are. We call for a ceasefire; they demand Hamas return the hostages and surrender. We call for Israel to let aid in; they say Israel is letting the aid in, but it's being stolen, and call for air drops rather than trucks. We call for Israel to stop fighting; they say they hope Israel takes Hamas out first.
We aren't centering their voices and experiences. We aren't lending our reach and our strength to their demands.
I want to make that possible.
Tumblr media
Ala Mushtaha, the son of this imam, evidently said, “On Saturday December 30, our front door was busted down and twenty masked men barged in and took my father, a widely respected and deeply learned imam here in Gaza."
“One dragged him by his head and another grabbed him by his beard. My younger brother tried to intervene and reason with the kidnappers, but they beat him. I have a medical condition that makes it hard for me to breathe, so all I could do was watch as the horror unfolded.
“He wouldn’t preach what Hamas told him to. He refused to tell Gazans that violent resistance and obedience to Hamas, is the best way out of our current hell.”
ok this dude needs his own post honestly, he goes on to say so much intense stuff about their lives.
OMG his dad was actually released!
Tumblr media
This is what I'm talking about. This is effective activism. Imagine what all these people could do if they had the entire global pro-Palestinian movement behind them.
Al-Natour posts a fair amount of political commentary.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The "we want to live" hashtag is a callback to the amazing "We Want To Live" protests he co-organized against Hamas, in Gaza in 2019, and again in the summer of 2023. Activist Hamida Howidzy (who will also be getting a separate post) wrote about them in Newsweek recently.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some things he posts in Arabic and then in English. Some of his posts are in Arabic only. In the thread above, he actually posted a couple more that were just in Arabic, presumably aimed at Arabic-language comments.
What I like about Twitter is that you can whack the "translate post" button and get a pretty decent translation most of the time.
Tumblr media
Translation:
"I saw all the responses... What is wrong and forbidden in reuniting the West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem through elections in which the people choose who will represent them??!?? Why are all the responses offensive...a collaborator, a traitor, and contain insults that indicate that whoever wrote them needs restructuring?! What prevents us, after ending the war, from returning our choice and choice to the Palestinian people?!+
Tumblr media
"Everyone wrote that I opened??!! how did you know???!! Stopping the war is the most important thing now... Whoever sees the condition of the people and feels all this is easy for him does not have humanity, and is not a human being... Whoever, after the destruction of more than 80% of Gaza and the North, and still writing in a way that wants the war to continue while he lives abroad, should reconsider. He accepted to live the same suffering!++"
Note: I copied the "I opened" bit and threw it into Google Translate separately, because that cannot be right. It still insisted that it meant "I opened".... but it gave me the transliterated words, "ani fatah."
Everyone wrote that he's Fatah -- the party that runs the West Bank, the one Hamas violently kicked out of Gaza in 2007-08.
Tumblr media
"The end of my speech... I know... whoever is not with you is a traitor and an agent... shameful... by God, by God, by God... there will be an account[ing] for all of this talk... so that you understand the word agent... and the account will be through a government of law... It is clear that there are many who benefit from the poverty and destruction of Gaza, and they must be held accountable according to the law.
"Have mercy on people with your tongues"
The comment on that one is noteworthy:
Tumblr media
"Yes, whoever is not with the resistance is indeed a traitor, and those who must be held accountable are the traitors, agents, hypocrites, liars, and racists who slander the resistance and who want to hold it accountable only because it fights the enemy of humanity and defends truth and the oppressed. If you want to apply the law, apply it to yourselves first."
It highlights how much of what we hear in the West is Hamas propaganda. That's a whole other post too. But Hamas claims to be "the resistance," to "defend truth and the oppressed," while arresting people who refuse to preach its propaganda. While jailing and torturing someone 20 times for organizing a protest.
Which are the exact tactics that make it so easy for their propaganda to reach us . And so hard for us to even know that there has been an entire protest movement against Hamas in Gaza, much less to support its activists.
Tumblr media
I'll just cut and paste the translations from his most recent thread, above. All emphasis is mine:
"When demonstrations took place in Israel demanding that Netanyahu stop the war and free the hostages, Al Jazeera and Hamas considered it a victory and an achievement, and that the Israeli government was under pressure. But what is striking is that these demonstrations were not suppressed. They were secured. The hostage issue and public pressure were dealt with professionally.
"The demonstrations that took place in Gaza demanding an end to the war and the return of the displaced...they were classified as suspicious [by Al Jazeera etc] ...even though the displaced Israeli lives in a 5-star hotel and has the privileges of the displaced, and when the Palestinian displaced in Gaza receives help, he needs a mediator, and if he wants a tent, he needs leadership intervention, and if he does not have the mediator And the intervention wants to scratch his pocket..+++
"Why did Israel allow demonstrations and look pressured, always trying to contain everything... while we have a displaced person lost, homeless, and no one is trying to contain him, and when he talks, they call him a fifth column???"
Last month, he posted about pregnancy in wartime. Note the cost of the tent later in this thread! Numerous Palestinians have posted about humanitarian aid getting stolen -- by Hamas, by NGOs, by others -- and sold on the black market. Food and tents especially get mentioned a lot. Everyone mentions the tents are being sold for more than (the equivalent of) $700, even though they were supposed to be free.

I'll leave you with this one for now:

You can read all the posts in this series in my "platform palestine" tag.
#platform gaza#free gaza#platform palestine#free palestine#free palestine from hamas#long post#wall of words#please note i specifically said platform gaza and not just platform palestinians#platform the west bank too#don't platform and center palestinians who have never been to palestine on issues that specifically affect people IN PALESTINE#like I'm 3/4 Italian and I'm not gonna tell you about what to do for people in Italy ok#I can give you perspective that you may not have otherwise#but there are multiple really awful orgs that claim to be palestinian-led and are in fact led by people in Canada or Brooklyn#it's extremely ironic that I've seen a lot of people accuse each other of like “sitting at your computer in your apartment in Brooklyn”#to mean being out of your lane and talking about stuff you don't understand in I/P discourse#when in fact the woman who runs within our lifetime is literally in and from brooklyn#that's the org that was caught on video doing a protest march that stopped to scream at cancer patients#about how their hospital was “complicit in genocide”#how was it complicit in genocide you might ask? well i guess memorial sloan kettering cancer center accepted a $400M donation#from “a zionist billionaire” which is a gross antisemitic trope thansks#the “zionist billionaire” hilariously turned out to be a billionaire Protestant#whose “zionism” was... that he's a Harvard grad and he told Harvard it should make a statement about the massacre#so obviously#by accepting a massive donation from some rich white guy who#UNRELATEDLY#thought Oct 7 was bad#the CANCER CENTER#is clearly COMPLICIT in GENOCIDE.#this makes zero sense and is bad activism#and the reason i consider it to be bad activism is specifically that it's not trying to achieve anything

Oh dear. I am a third through Legends and Lattes, and I already feel that this book is going to end up on my List Of Infamy for 2024. Like, the concept is so good?? You could do so much with this premise?? And then it doesn't.
Listen. There are, generally, two reasons why someone would do a "people doing mundane things in a fantasy setting" story. You are either there for the world, or you are there for the characters. The world, we still know close to nothing about, beyond that it has generic DND vibes. What is the climate? What species exist in there, and how do they interact with each other? What is the role of adventurers in this society? What even is the city we're in like, beyond having a harbour, a market, a university and a main street?? And the characters, they seem to have zero internal conflict. Viv just left her life of adventuring and killing monsters, and it doesn't seem to impact her at all? Does she miss it? If so, what parts? Who were the people in her party? Even the ones who already appeared "on-screen", we only know their names. You mentioned that there is some prejudice against both orcs and succumbi, are you planning to elaborate on that?? AT ALL???
Just. *frustrated groan*
