The Dragon Reborn, Chapter 10 - Secrets

(Sunburst icon) In which trauma's a real pain.

PERSPECTIVE: Egwene stares at Tar Valon in the distance, just a tiny gleam on the horizon. She returns to Tar Valon mostly because she needs to learn how to use the Power, so that she will never be collared again. Her dreams since leaving Almoth Plain have mostly been of the Seanchan, though lately she's dreaming about Rand running from something, and also toward something.(1)

She smooths her skirts impatiently, resenting the colour. Both the dresses she has are grey, and not just grey, but the dresses of damane, the only choice given her when they set out. She swears she'll never wear grey again, though once in the White Tower, she'll wear white just like any other novice.

Nynaeve overhears, as she said it aloud, and asks if she's talking to herself when she should be keeping watch. Egwene asks sweetly how she thinks Moiraine is treating Lan, but regrets her mean remark almost instantly. She asks if Nynaeve thinks Perrin and Rand are alright, and Nyn asks if Egg's dreams are troubling her. She also says that everything in their lives has been wrong since Moiraine found them,(2) but Perrin and Rand will have to make do for themselves. Nynaeve feels a sense of foreboding, like a storm coming, though the sky is clear. Egg remarks that Nyn’s weather sense as often seems to relate to the conflicts of men as it does to the weather itself, these days.(3)

Verin leads the group, though Egwene questions her motives. Elayne is with them, too, riding opposite Hurin beside the litter that carries Mat, who hasn't roused in three days.(4) Hurin smells trouble, though he doesn't seem sure of what it is. They’ve learned to trust his ability and his instincts about it.

The Wondergirls discuss Hurin’s warning after he goes to ride with Verin, but Nyn suggests they should keep their heads down lest they get in more trouble than they’re already in for running off with Liandrin. She also worries over Mat's condition, thinking he might have only hours left, just before a bunch of Children of the Light ride up on them,(5) make big threats, etc. Verin asks if they really think they can carry off Aes Sedai within sight of Tar Valon.

Elayne cuts in to say who she is and that the Whitecloaks will have trouble with Queen Morgase if they don't let them pass. The head Whitecloak says perhaps the good Queen has no more love of witches, and would appreciate having her daughter back by her side. Egwene thinks there's no more time to wait, takes saidar, and makes the ground in front of the head Whitecloak's horse explode. She also senses Nynaeve and Elayne making similar eruptions. The man is unharmed, though, and yells at her to go ahead and kill him, like they killed his father,(6) as his companions flee.

Verin ignores the man and tells the wondergirls that what they have done is abomination. An Aes Sedai doesn't use the power as a weapon except against Shadowspawn or to defend her life. Nynaeve says they were ready to take them off and kill them or worse, and Egg says they didn't hurt anyone. Verin is spitting furious and tells her not to split hairs. Nynaeve asks what about this man, and Verin says he was only bullying and threatening, and she could've talked him around, given time. Now, what stories will these men tell, and what harm will it do?(7)

Egwene apologizes, trying to sound like she means it though she doesn't, and says they've been on the road so long, all the way from Toman Head, and if she weren't so tired… The man snarls that they were at Falme?! His father DIED at Falme. The witches killed him for their false Dragon, and he'll see them burn for it.

Verin calls the girls impetuous children, almost as bad as boys. She tells the man to go with the Light. He yells that he's Dain Bornhald, and don't forget it! He runs off, and Egg tells Verin she's sorry, she was trying to make things better. Verin tells her there's a time to tell the truth and a time to hold your tongue. An important lesson, if she intends to live long enough to become a full Aes Sedai. Did it never occur to her that word might have reached here before them? Nyn interjects that every village they passed through had only rumour, but Verin says there are other roads, and they moved slowly. Always plan for the worst, and all your surprises will be pleasant.

Elayne asks what he meant about her mother, and Verin says that the Queens of Andor have ever been friends to Tar Valon, but all things change in time.(8) Now, they're nearing Tar Valon, and they must be doubly on their guard, for this is where the real danger begins.

(1) We might reasonably assume he's running from and toward his destiny in equal measure. Running from the idea that his life so far has been a lie, running toward the fantasy of greatness that we all reach for as children. Running from the knowledge that he's the Dragon, one of his history's greatest villains, and running toward the hope that he can prove it wrong by failing the test of prophecy. Is there anything else he might be running from or toward? (2) Moiraine does make a convenient target… but what if she hadn't shown up that day? What if the Trollocs had got there first? Do you think Nynaeve is being fair to Moiraine? (3) And even back in the beginning of book 1, she thought spring was coming, and it was the Dark One's influence holding winter in place that confounded her. So, there's obviously quite a lot more to this weather instinct power. (4) They did say he may have been weeks or days from fading before they retrieved the knife. If they've been traveling all winter, it's no wonder that Verin alone, even with Nynaeve, Elayne, and Egwene for help if they even can, couldn't hold it off longer. (5) If we didn't already get it from the juxtaposition with the icon, they're probably what Hurin smelled, and what Nynaeve sensed. We were told earlier that a group of them were headed or or encamped outside of Tar Valon. Did you dread this confrontation as soon as you realized? (6) Ah, and we've found Dain Bornhald again. Rand met him, the once, back in Baerlon in book 1. And it looks like somehow, Jaret Byar's news beat the Wondergirls back. A man alone rides faster than a half dozen including one ill enough to need a litter, after all. And gossip travels faster than feet. (7) Which side do you agree with? Why? Do you think they were in real trouble? Could Verin have talked them out of it? How will these men pass along the information that an Aes Sedai (they don't know she's only a novice) attacked them? What will people like Pedron Niall make of it? Whitecloaks being attacked with the Power next to Tar Valon now is likely to reinforce the reports that the Aes Sedai were the ones using the Power as a weapon at Falme. Verin IS right that the Oaths are in place for good reason, and one should probably try to follow the spirit of them whenever possible, not just the pure phrasing, even before swearing them. (8) We haven't seen anything of Morgase in quite some time. What do you think it might mean? Well, we can assume she's heard that Elayne went missing from the Tower, or at least that she hasn't had any word from her daughter in months while her sons were left behind there, whether they were allowed to communicate with her over Elayne's absence or not… If you had a daughter, and not just that, if you had only one heir to your throne, do you think you'd be content to let her disappear like that?

I reblog content I'm not into. Ace Attonery? Some random new anime that's probably super popular but I've never heard about? Oh wow this is going to be a LONG oc ramble post.

15. What is the first thing people notice about them?

Holly: either her very pink clothes or her bottle blonde hair

Spark: just. Aer whole. Thing. The emo/punk/goth/??? aestethic really stands out

Lucas: depends. If he's got his wings out, his wings. If not, the fact that he's pretty built (he's a himbo and an athlete, remember?)

Maia: not just her being buff. She's BIG. HUGE. She's like 6'4 and built like a damn train. And she's A TEEN.

Caden: his very orange hair (thanks, Irish/Scottish genes)

21. What would be the item that they would hate to lose most?

Caden: his trusty Swiss Army Knife. It was a gift from Dave#1 (one of his mom's many, many ex-boyfriends, and Caden's personal favorite) and what gave him the kick that set him on the path to technology. It's also super useful and ooo shiny

Maia: her favorite plushie, Madam President. She's a teddy bear that Lucas got her for her birthday. She's GIGANTIC. She's almost as tall as Maia, and thus is the one she likes hugging the most. She's a very fancy gal (she's got a bowtie!) but doesn't mind the snuggles. She'd be really hard to lose, though.

Spark: a tiny non-binary flag that ae has on a pen holder (is that what they're called??). It was the first pride thing ae gathered the courage to buy that expressed aer identity like that before coming out. And ae just told their family that it was from some game. It's nothing big, but to Spark it represents that tiny bit of rebellious courage that is needed to, in some way or another, say "I'm here. This is me and I exist".

Holly: A cheap, old plastic ring with part of its paint scratched off. She remembers getting it on a sour candy packet: "Lucky charm ring! Only 1 in 50 packages!", it was advertised. Little 6 year old Holly went nuts after opening the package to a sugar-covered lucky ring half buried in candy. She was the chosen one! She started wearing it all the time for luck. As she got older, Holly stopped wearing it at all, but she still secretly carries it in her pocket or bag when she's in need of some luck (big test, her first superhero battle, that sort of stuff).

Lucas: A t-shirt with Rick Astley on it. It's his all time favorite t-shirt, ever. Not only it turns him into a walking rickroll, but it's pretty baggy. It helped him feel more secure about his body when he started going through puberty and until he got his first binder.

22. What are their eating habits like? Do they snack throughout the day? Or do they eat sparcely?

Maia: the best on the team. She takes good care of her health, and therefore of her eating habits as well. She has an inner schedule for meals that she follows almost unconsiously, amd when she doesn't for some reason, it mildly upsets her. She eats healthily and is very susceptible to hunger, being the one who consumes more energy in the whole group.

Caden: Maia's absolute opposite. Eating habits? You mean most people don't keep their metabolism on their toes?? He's just like that. He'll work on a project for a whole day and eat or drink absolutely NOTHING. He'll go through a whole day consuming only hot chips and energy drinks nonstop. He'll eat a 30 servings plate in one sitting. Hell, he may even have a normal day eating at normal times once in a while. It drives Maia crazy. And don't even get me started on his sleep "schedule".

Holly: She can't eat when she's too anxious or stressed, so if she's going through a rough patch she'll skip meals until she's too hungry. Coffee is her best friend and she drinks it throughout the whole day (never more than 4 cups though), alongside some snacking if she feels like it.

Lucas: he's got a pretty flexible eating schedule. Not feeling like lunch right now? It can wait until next hour! Hungry again 30 minutes after breakfast? We bring to you: second breakfast! Stayed up late and now your stomach is empty? Shove fistfuls of shredded cheese into your mouth until you're satisfied and continue with your sleepless shenanigans! But it's not too bad, really.

Spark: in the middle of Lucas and Caden. Ae has quite the appetite, and yet ae is a skinny bitch. Ae actually was kinda insecure about it in the past, since it comes from a hormone imbalance, but ae got over it and even embraced it. It still bugs aer sometimes though, especially when people are being judgemental.

39. What's your character's guilty pleasure?

Lucas: Scout Cookies. He loves them. He's convinced that they put some sort of drug in them to make them as addictive as they are.

Holly: Spicy food. Like, commit-arson-inside-your-mouth spicy. She aquired the taste for it from her dad, who's Indian, and then tripled it. One time Spark tried to pull a prank on her by dousing her food with pepper, and internally freaked out when she just. Ate it. Like normal food. Without even flinching.

Caden: Incredibly cheesy romance movies. Half of the time he laughs at them. The other half, when he's feeling emotional, he'll actually get invested. (*sobbing* She loves you, Marie! Don't do this to her! Your fear of getting close to people and getting hurt caused by your tragic past relationship shouldn't get in the way of your romance! *more sobbing*)

Spark: Looking at catalogue pictures of cute aestethic outfits such as fairy kei, pastel goth, kawaii or softcore. And wondering how ae'd look like wearing them.

Maia: Stickers. She has two albums filled with them, and she practically gravitates towards the glittery ones. One time she stuck one on Lucas' arm and it was a "holy shit she really does love me" moment for him. (I could also say plushies, but she's 100% unashamed of that one.)

47. What is your character's reaction when someone does something nice for them?

Caden: Thanks them profusely and is twice as nice to them for the rest of the day.

Lucas: Now he owes them a favor. It will literally not leave his mind until he does something in return that matches or outmatches the size of the favor he recieved.

Spark: After an "Aw thanks!" ae will sneak niceness their way throughout the whole day. Levels of sneakiness may vary.

Maia: Will give them a gift as a thanks, most likely something she cooked. Like cookies, or cupcakes.

Holly: "Thank you. Here's five dollars."

A/N: It took a while for inspiration to strike for the next installment in the Marvelous ‘verse but I really wanted to expand upon the “show” itself since all you darlings were really enthusiastic about learning more from the previous chapter. But of course I still made sure to have extra fluffy fun following Steve and Nat’s engagement announcement!

‘Marvelous’ Season Premiere Recap: “In Somnis Veritas”

SPOILER ALERT! This post contains plot details from the Marvelous season four premiere, “In Somnis Veritas,” below.

In somnis veritas. “In dreams there is truth.”

And the truth is? We have no idea what these dreams are supposed to mean.

During AE!’s exclusive on-set interviews with the cast of Marvelous last month, Steve Rogers (playing the Captain) shared that the Season 4 premiere would be entirely centered around the concept of dreams. “There are really low points but there are really high points, too,” Rogers had dished, “and it’s just one of those things you know will have that punch and then keep on punching.” But tell us, Captain: when do the punches stop? It’s hard enough to riddle out which dreams and nightmares from last night’s episode are foreshadowing and which ones are just plain teasing! The last thing we need is to know that there are still more hits coming our way.

But we should probably be used to that by now, right?

Another thing we’re used to? Spending the entire week after an episode trying to dissect what the heck we just watched.

In the months between the surprise Season 4 teaser trailer that dropped on The Late Night Show and last night’s premiere, the cast had teased that this season will bring happier days back to our heroes. And while that’s definitely what we thought of during last night’s dream sequences, what does that say about the nightmares?

‘Marvelous’ Season Premiere Recap: “In Somnis Veritas” (continued)

December 12, 2017. 6:52 AM PST.

Last night’s premiere hits the ground running with its theme around dreams: the episode opens with a beautiful shot of an outdoor wedding, complete with white petals on the ground and everyone decked out in suits and pastel dresses. Everything is bright and ethereal, vaguely eerie version of the wedding march playing as the camera pans over the audience until finally settling on the face of the bride: Black Widow. Big shocker there. Even less of a shocker? Her groom, standing under the floral arch: the Captain.

We all knew this was coming. Did it make us any less emotional as we watched the Captain and Widow hold hands and recite vows in front of the crying faces of their loved ones?

Absolutely not.

But just as the Captain peels back her veil for a kiss, we cut to a very grim version of the same scene: it’s nighttime now, with the chairs empty and strewn across the grass, and Widow’s beautiful wedding dress is now torn and covered in blood. Widow repeats her vows, but this time as she recites, “until death do us part,” the vaguely eerie music comes to a stop - and then the Captain bolts upright in his chair. He’d been in the infirmary the whole time, having fallen asleep at Widow’s bedside. She gives him a sad smile and asks if he’s alright, and, in true Captain fashion, he dodges the question altogether and checks on her vitals. He tries to rush off, but Widow gets up to stop him and asks him to stay, and the Captain hesitates before kissing her forehead and promising that he won’t leave.

Meanwhile, we find Thor beating the crap out of a punching bag in the gym. There are flashes back to the scene of his powers getting stripped from him from last season’s finale, his punches getting progressively harder as he relives the memory... and then it gets worse: Agent Hill comes up behind him, touching his shoulder in an attempt to get his attention, but in a flash, Thor has his hands around her throat. The buzz of electricity can be heard as the lights of the training room flicker, and Agent Hill seems oddly calm considering she’s being choked to death, which seems to clue Thor in: he realizes he’s punched the bag straight off of the chain during his dream (nightmare?) and the real Agent Hill is standing unharmed beside him as she gives him a status update: Widow’s memories are still gone, Hawkeye is still out cold, Scarlet Witch is still missing. But he’s only half-listening. He flexes his fingers (yup, powers still gone) and stares at Agent Hill’s neck, terror written all over his face.

Agent Hill asks what’s wrong, but of course, before he can answer, they’re interrupted by a commotion passing through the hallway: Agent 13 and Quicksilver are back with Iron Man, and he’s looking pretty worse for wear.

Access Entertainment! Exclusive Preview: The Late Night Show Just Got a Little More Marvelous

The last time that the stunning Natasha Romanoff was in New York to chat with Peter Quill on The Late Night Show, we expected Quill to give us the scoop on Romanoff’s cozy Hawaiian vacation with her fellow Marvelous co-star, Steve Rogers, which had us all swooning over our screens this summer. But of course, Romanoff dodged the interrogation in true Black Widow fashion: with a charming smile and a downright dirty seduction tactic in the form of a Marvelous teaser trailer, dropping an entire week earlier than scheduled.

Well played, Miss Romanoff. Well played.

Fast-forward two months later, just hours before Romanoff was scheduled to appear to tape her slot in tonight’s show, Quill tweeted about being more determined than ever to squeeze out the juicy details about Romanoff’s and Rogers’ Hawaiian getaway. But Romanoff still had more tricks up her sleeve: the audience cheered as Quill announces her arrival... and then promptly went into hysterics at the sight of her head of blonde hair!

Yes, you read that right: the infamous Black Widow is now blonde, and we’re still not sure how we feel about it. Romanoff looked every bit as stunning as we know her to be, but her fiery hair has been such an iconic feature of hers that we’re a little sad to see that it’s gone.

At least, for now it is. “You’ll see,” Romanoff answered cryptically when Quill bemoaned her new color and asked what brought on the change. “It’s a plot thing. Nick and I agreed a wig didn’t do the trick, so the red had to go. But I promise you, it’ll be back. It’ll definitely be back. I miss it already!”

We do, too, and we’re certain Romanoff’s new fiance must feel the same. Rogers has never been shy to voice how much he loved Romanoff’s bold hair color, having done so on social media on numerous occasions, long before the pair had started dating. A fact that was pretty much known following the intimate photos of the two out and about around Maui this past summer, but something neither outright confirmed until Romanoff’s twenty-ninth birthday just a couple weeks ago, when the couple took to Instagram to announce their engagement. Rogers proposed to Romanoff down on one knee at the birthday party the cast and crew had put together for her, and, in his Tweet congratulating the couple, fellow Marvelous co-star Clint Barton shared that, “it took a while for them to come back up for air.”

There’s no doubting that Romanoff could show up in neon pink hair and still look stunning, and Rogers would still be just as head-over-heels for her, a fact that Quill was quick to point it out.

“He better,” Romanoff teased with a bright smile. “And technically he proposed to me twice, so he has to wait for another strike before calling anything off.”

Wait, what?

“He did, he did,” Romanoff laughed when Quill asked if this was true. “He technically proposed to me in Hawaii, except he was really just asking if we wanted to officially ‘date.’ It just didn’t seem like a significant enough term and we kind of joked about it. We were like, ‘is it just dating when we know so much about each other?’ We’ve spent three years together at this point and dating wasn’t going to just wipe us clean of our friendship, so why give it such a vague title? So he went straight to a proposal. And I said yes.”

‘Marvelous’ Season Premiere Recap: “In Somnis Veritas” (continued)

As Iron Man gets rushed into medical, Quicksilver explains the fight with Ultron from that ended in Iron Man barely hanging onto consciousness as they rushed to get him back, while Agent Hill shares how Hawkeye ended up in a coma and how Widow nearly bled to death. Then comes the worst part: Scarlet Witch is missing, and there’s been nothing but radio silence from Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Quicksilver - who had been vocal in his protest to let his sister go off without him - shouts at Agent Hill, ranting angrily, only to storm off when Thor steps in. Agent Hill then shares the news about Widow’s memories and Agent 13 snaps, nearly hitting Agent Hill when she hurls Iron Man’s broken at the wall and then storms off. Thor warily asks how Agent Hill is holding up, but she simply shrugs it off and goes after Agent 13 to comfort her, and elsewhere, Captain runs into Quicksilver and quickly does the same.

If you think things might’ve magically gotten better for our favorite little witch since the finale, then you were mistaken: the first glimpse we get of Scarlet Witch is her sprawled out on the floor. There are indistinct voices and sounds and sights blurring in and out as she struggles to wake up, but then the Winter Soldier’s suddenly comes into focus at her side as he brushes her hair from her face. She’s confused - just as much as we are - and then the scene shifts into another dream sequence with more ethereal lighting and happy yet eerie instrumentals. Scarlet Witch lays on the floor of a gorgeous bathroom, but this time she’s smiling and holding onto a positive pregnancy test (gasp!) as a clean-cut Winter Soldier hovers over her again. Scarlet Witch tells him that “this changes everything,” to which the Winter Soldier reassures her that she can handle it.

With that sentiment still echoing, we shift back to a battered Scarlet Witch still on the floor, with the hallucination of Winter Soldier encouraging her to get up - and so she does. She takes in her surroundings: she’s in some kind of holding cell in the middle of lab with scientists and armed guards everywhere. When she looks down at her arms, she sees marks all over herself as blurry memories of the experimentation flash. Before she can freak out even more, however, a scientist crouches beside her and, predictably, he launches into a creepy story of how he’s waited to get his hands on her and how she has so much beautiful potential. She doesn’t say a word, but like any evil villain, he shares his plot anyway: he wants to bring the world to their knees, and she’s been the missing piece of his equation.

Outside in the snow, Falcon and the Winter Soldier are still right where we left them on a snowy mountainside, but at least they’ve stopped throwing punches at this point. Falcon is working to get a connection going to call the others for back-up as the Winter Soldier attempts to figure out where the hidden lab might be. It only takes a minute and a half (yes, we counted) for the tense silence to diverge into more arguing, but at least this time it ends in a mutual agreement on what direction they need to head in.

BLACK WIDOW Or maybe you just don’t need me?

Captain flinches as if slapped, Black Widow’s smile fades a little, not expecting the reaction. Something feels off...

CAPTAIN I always need you. I’ve always needed you.

BLACK WIDOW I know.

CAPTAIN Do you?

Their eyes meet -- Captain’s fill with emotion, overwhelming Black Widow. Maintaining eye contact becomes too much. She rushes to him, pulls him into a hug.

CAPTAIN Sometimes I think you don’t. That I don’t tell you enough.

Black Widow finds this so absurd that she laughs, tearing up, squeezing onto him tighter.

BLACK WIDOW So tell me now.

Captain laughs too, and it sounds like relief. In a flash he’s lifting her up and setting her on the counter, pulling her close again. They gaze into each other’s eyes, not saying anything. It’s enough -- it always is -- but in this moment, they both need more...

INT. FACILITY - INFIRMARY ROOM

Captain slightly stumbles on his way into the room, looking distraught. Black Widow starts to get up from bed but he’s at her side and urging her to stay put.

BLACK WIDOW (looking past Captain at the door) What’s going on? (then, looking at him, growing more concerned at what she sees) Are you alright?

Captain laughs, hallow and almost hysterical.

CAPTAIN No. (he blinks, surprised by his own honesty, then continues on before he can talk himself out of it) The people most important to me are fighting, or missing, or dying. And I can’t do a thing. Not a goddamn thing.

Black Widow puts her hand on his face, making him meet her eyes. She wants to reassure him, but the heartbreak she sees makes her stop short. His stare is intense -- intensely lost -- and she feels connected to his pain. She hurts just like him.

CAPTAIN Thank you.

BLACK WIDOW (blinking, tearing up) For what?

CAPTAIN For not saying it’ll be alright. You never lied to me before. Even when you’re not mine, you still know what to say, or not say.

BLACK WIDOW I was yours?

CAPTAIN (swallowing, visibly fighting to not look away) Yeah, I think so.

BLACK WIDOW (whispering, because she thinks she already knows the answer) Were you mine?

CAPTAIN Yeah. (cracking a half-smile) Still am.

Thor turns the corner and almost runs right into Captain. They both pause to stare at each other, exchanging a knowing look, then they crack half-smiles and bittersweet laughs. What a predicament they’ve got on their hands.

THOR (nodding at Black Widow’s closed bedroom door) How is she taking everything?

CAPTAIN Better than I am. But that’s nothing new. (he’s half-joking, then shrugs as he genuinely considers) It’s a shock to her. Last thing she clearly remembers is the Red Room. The rest is a blur.

Thor exhales, letting the weight of this settle. Half a decade of memories gone -- he can’t begin to imagine how that affects her, and Captain. He tries to find the right thing to say, but Captain speaks first.

CAPTAIN (nodding in the direction of the communal rooms) And Hill? Is she holding up?

THOR Barely. The whiskey is helping.

CAPTAIN You probably helped more.

THOR (surprised that he agrees) I did. (exchanging a look with Captain, offering each other half-smiles) Just when I thought things couldn’t get any more out of sorts...

Back at the Facility, the Captain, Agent Hill, Agent 13, Thor, and Quicksilver are gathered in the hallway just outside the infirmary wing. Black Widow is sitting in her bed, not at all pretending to be reading rather than eavesdropping as they try to make sense of the turn of events that left the Team in shambles. But they end up with more questions than answers: How could anything drain Thor of his powers, and why? What was so important about the truck Iron Man tracked down that he intercepted it without a plan? What epiphany did Hawkeye have before he chased after Widow and ended up in a coma? Are Widow’s memories gone for good? And where the heck are Scarlet Witch, Falcon, and the Winter Soldier right now?

The conversation (understandably) grows frustrated, but now Black Widow isn’t paying attention. Exhaustion is taking over, and she feels herself drifting out until she finally gets pulled into a daydream: she finds herself in a cookie-cutter suburban house, walking down a hallway lined with frames. She and Captain are in all of the photos being displayed, carefree and happy, and the frame at the end displays an oil painting of Widow in a wedding dress. (The same one from Captain’s dream sequence, to be specific. Coincidence? Not at all.) Then, when someone calls for her, she walks into the kitchen to find Captain carrying a mass of groceries. She teases him about not needing her, but the joke falls flat, and, oh look, there’s that creepy, eerie music again. Captain assures that he does need her and he doesn’t tell her enough, and we get the sense he’s not just talking about groceries. Widow comforts him, and then the dream shifts: same house, same kitchen, but this time Widow and Captain both walk in from the garage carrying groceries. Ah, lovely - positive paralleling. They set the groceries down and Captain hoists her onto the counter, and Widow puts a hand on his face as they gaze adoringly at each other before kissing.

And naturally, this is when Widow is woken up.

Captain looks troubled (obviously) as he walks back into her room, so much so that, rather than brushing it off, he shares with Widow how helpless he feels. Widow doesn’t say anything, but of course it’s enough. It always is with them. Captain thanks her for still being “his” and this catches Widow off-guard. She hadn’t realized that they were this intimate, but it seems like Captain finally has.

Elsewhere in the Facility infirmary, Agent Hill and Agent 13 are seated by a still-out-cold Hawkeye‘s bedside, quietly continuing to puzzle everything out. What bothers them the most is figuring out what Iron Man was chasing after, though we know the truth: whatever it is that Hawkeye figured out was what he told Iron Man to investigate while Hakweye went after Widow so he could bring her back home and clear her name. Because of course Hakweye knew the real reason behind her “betrayal”, too. What doesn’t this man know?

As Agent Hill and Agent 13′s voices fade away, we’re brought into yet another dream sequence: Hawkeye finds himself walking through a farm in the middle of nowhere, and it seems like even he doesn’t know what he’s doing there, but it’s oddly peaceful. A young girl and boy come running out of the house, laughing and playing an intense game of tag, and then shortly after a woman follows. Her attention is on the baby boy in her arms, her hair hiding her face, but all of the excited chatter coming from the kids becomes a blur of noise as the woman turns her head and we’re met with the face of the agent who left Iron Man for dead. Not that Hawkeye would know this. She touches his shoulder and leans in to kiss him, and when she pulls away, the kids are gone and they’re no longer on a farm. Instead they’re in the same warehouse where Hawkeye tracked Widow to, and the mystery woman is dressed in a black catsuit. She gives him a sweet smile, which is disturbing considering that the Captain is practically in hysterics over Widow’s body as she bleeds out on the floor.

The laughter of the kids can be heard again, the little girl exclaiming, “tag, you’re it!” just as the mystery woman’s smile takes on a sharp edge - and then Hawkeye wakes up. Agent Hill and Agent 13 are immediately at his side, but before they can begin to fuss over him, he says that he “knows what it is.” A man of few words, as always. Agent Hill tells him to lay back down and take it easy, but he goes on to say that he knows what was in that truck: weapons built with extraterrestrial technology, with the designs that had been stolen from him earlier in Season 3.

Yikes.

Meanwhile, back in the snowy mountains, we see Scarlet Witch struggling to stay upright and conscious on the floor as the red wisps of her energy start to materialize around her. The head evil scientist is still rambling, this time about explaining the grueling experiments he’s putting Scarlet Witch under, and that’s when she sees it in the corner of the room: the cube-shaped energy behind a glass containment unit, hooked up to the machine that the scientist is tinkering with. Her energy flares in alarm, which of course catches everyone’s attention. Guns are at the ready, but the scientist is unconcerned as he comes toward her with a tool Scarlet Witch has never seen before. (One of those weapons Hawkeye thought up, perhaps? Seems like a safe bet.)

The scientist grabs her arm, yanking her to her feet, but as soon as he points the tip of the strange instrument to her skin he’s blown back by a ripple of her energy. She flinches, stares down at her hands in surprise at the pain she feels from her own powers, but she isn’t given the time to ponder this: the guards are gathering around her with their guns aimed, shouting threats at her as she starts to gather her energy in her palms. The scientist stares at her in ominous fascination rather than terror, and the cube of energy starts to spark, seeming to react to her powers. The shouting escalates, until finally someone fires a shot - and in a blink, the cube of energy and Scarlet Witch’s energy explode as if detonated. The shot cuts to the laboratory from the outside as red energy bursts from within it, and from just up the mountain, we see Falcon and Winter Soldier watching as the building collapses. Sparks can be seen as everything is crumbling, and there’s a quick flash of Thor at the Facility, wincing in pain as the sparks grow more violent before fading, being absorbed by Scarlet Witch’s red energy. Thor nearly keels over, but the pain fades, replaced by frustration as he hurls the weight in his hand across the gym. He falls to his knees as he breathes heavily, and Agent Hill can be seen watching him from the door, a worried expression on her face.

Back on the mountain, we find Scarlet Witch completely untouched and laying on the snow, her red energy dissolving into the air after having protected her from the explosion. Falcon and Winter Soldier rush to her side, and after a quick check of her pulse, the two look at each other and look visibly relieved. Scarlet Witch’s eyes fly open the moment Winter Soldier touches her, but she eases all at once when she sees that it’s him, and he lifts her in his arms and tucks her to his chest as her body shakes. Scarlet Witch catches sight of her forearm as she’s being carried and immediately tenses when she notices that the fresh marks from the experiments have already significantly faded. She looks alarmed, and slightly terrified, and she catches a red spark from her fingertip before the screen cuts to black.

Outlander Sex Scene Master Post (Books 1–7)

Some of you may have heard that DG’s Island of Misfit Toys, Compuserve, is closing in a couple months because they’re shutting down the forum. Maybe DG will get a LiveJournal like her buddy GRRM! One of the first things I found over there was a spreadsheet of every sex scene in Outlander up to Echo In the Bone (yes the filename is sex_scene.xls. A ranked list of the kdramas I've watched so far (just for fun)

Just a warning that this post won't be my most eloquent as it's for my own enjoyment. This is all personal options and I'm just doing it for fun ☺ if anyone wants to recommend me some dramas (k or c) or talk about the ones I have watched I'm always down just shoot me a message :).

1. Legend of the Blue Sea

First of all mermaids?? Fate? Reincarnation? Cheong Shim comes to land after the man she loves, a conman in Seoul who can't remember her. Legend of the Blue Sea was the first kdrama I watched and it has a very special place in my heart. I thought it was really cute and I love to torture myself with miscommunication between characters (or memory loss and reincarnation lol). I adored all the characters and I got really emotional. I also have a soft spot for period dramas and while this was set in modern day the flash backs were awesome. Looking back on it now the plot is a little cheesy but it was fun, sweet, and had the perfect amount of angsty drama and heartfelt moments. I do think Chi-hyun deserved better though.

2. Hello Monster/ I Remember You

Holy shit I loved this one so much. I watched it after being in a slump on dramas for awhile and it was such a beautiful breath of fresh air. The romance wasn't forced or the main point. And remember how I said I love amnesia tropes and to torture myself? Professor Lee Hyun returns to Korea and helps an investigative team, triggering memories of when his father was murdered and his younger brother disappeared. First I was eager to see the case solved and then it just became so much more. I was really invested, the plot was different, I was so involved with these characters. I was wary of watching a crime drama but it was so amazing and I could ramble about it all day but I also don't want to spoil. I'm sure I'm not doing it justice with my explanation but I encourage everyone to look it up and give it a try! Lastly Cha Ji-an was amazing female lead, a very kick-ass detective.

3. Weightlifting Fairy Kim-bok Su

This drama was amazing. Kim-bok Su is a female weightlifter going for gold and the show was inspired by the life of actual gold medalist weightlifter Jang-mi Ran. She eats, she's ambitious, she kicks ass, she's cute, her friends are awesome. The only thing I didn't really like about this drama was the bad Second Lead Syndrome I got. Not that the main is bad, he's actually awesome and their romance was cute and funny. It doesn't just focus on Kim-bok- her childhood friends dream and a dancers struggle are also important parts of the show. It's was a fun coming-of-age story and felt very natural as I watched while still getting me emotionally invested.

4. The Lover

OK aside from everyone fangirling over JoonJae's and Takuya's tragic gay romance (which is what got a lot of people into this), I really enjoyed this. The Lover is 12 episodes long and follows the lives of 4 unmarried couples living together, each episode over a 24 hour period of time. The humor was crass, dick and fart jokes galore, especially the first 2 episodes. But between the crass humor there's always a bit of a lesson about love or living together (after the first 2 episodes) and it makes it really sweet to me. I couldn't sit down and binge this show, and the screen time is torn between 4 couples so you may not get to see your favorite couple as much, but it was fun, and it's very obvious the actors had fun filming it and that just makes a show more enjoyable to me.

5. Moon Lovers- Scarlet Heart Ryeo

Alright this was the second drama I watched and I did get really invested in it, maybe not as much as my friends would have liked though lol. It's a Korean remake of a similarly named cdrama. A girl gets transported back in time to the Goryeo-era and has to navigate her way through this new life. She's spunky, and cute but her actions do have consequences. The princes were so interesting, although obviously some are meant to be more likeable than others. It started out light hearted and cute while making you feel a little guilty but then gets much more angsty. You're just hoping for the best but nothing ever seems to work out. Maybe I would have liked it more if it wasnt obvious who the main romantic interest was from the beginning. And I'm still gonna be really upset about Jung because he deserved so much better 😢.

6. Goblin

My man Gong Yoo!!! Goblin was a little odd to me- the romance didn't feel forced but it felt a little rushed and out of place but once it was established they were in love they were. Shin is cursed to be immortal and his destined bride is the only one who can kill him. I'm a sucker for angst and fate. The characters were cute, serious when necessary, and loved each other. The side characters were funny, and also just as tragic as our main couple. The only thing I seriously disliked was that when they met the female lead character was underage (by a year but still :/).

7. Because This is my First Life

Cute girl who's driven to be a writer gets kicked out of her house? A house poor man needs a roommate? They end up getting married so they can live together? This drama was enjoyable, and when I predicted what would happen I was always a little off so it didn't make me feel it was totally obvious and kept me invested. The side couples were cute, they didn't gloss over any sexual harassment, and eventually the main couple ends up falling in love in their own amazing way. The only thing I didn't understand why it went from them being ok living together and then she was kicked out and then they got married? I understand it's a different culture and his mother visited but still it kinda seemed to jump around to me... I was invested in how they spoke to each other and how they navigated their own feelings and hoping they would make it work (👀 And I don't know if anyone else sees it and it's not important to the plot but I can totally see Seok Hwa on the autism spectrum)

8. Fight for My Way

Choi Ae-ra and Go Dong-man are childhood friends who are both trying to achieve their dream, one of being an announcer/reporter and the other in the UFC. They're underdogs and both struggle to reach their goals. Their other friends Seol-hee and Joo-man also have a very cute story. Although I enjoyed Fight My Way I wasn't as engaged with it as I was in other dramas and at one point I just ended up watching it to finish it. While I wanted the characters to achieve their dreams I personally didn't get invested in it like others. I dislike any plot with the characters parents interfering in their child's relationship (different culture I know but still it's ridiculous) especially how violent Ae-ras father was. And eventually was annoyed when Ae-ra, who otherwise is an amazing motivated character, gave Dong-man an ultimatum between her and his job. Joo-mans coworker also annoyed me but it wasn't the worst.

9. Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon

The maternal line of Do Bong Soon's family passes down incredible strength from one woman to another. The CEO of a game company hires her as a body guard and she bargains with him to launch her game. There's an entire subplot about women being kidnapped and held hostage while her friend Guk-Doo, an officer, is investigating. Shes cute while obvioisly very strong and independent. I kind of got second lead syndrome from this but Minhyuk also ended up being very cute and loving (and so very, very extra). What I didn't like was their positions and how it occasionally felt like a power imbalance. I also was not a huge fan of the joke gay scenes or the overly aggressive, antagonistic, gay man (or his gum habit eww) and I felt that was poor of the network. A cute drama but it ended up being kind of boring to me.

10. Secret Healer/ Mirror of the Witch

I found this one browsing on Netflix and it seemed interesting. A barren queen uses black magic to conceive and ends up having cursed twins. To lift the curse she tells the Shaman to kill the baby girl. Instead he secretly hides her away and tries to break her curse. The plot seems straight forward enough but theres a lot going in with the other characters that really flesh out the story. The only thing I disliked were the time skips in the beginning, it was really tiring. I binged the first few episodes but once it got around 5 or 6 it started taking forever to finish, maybe because I tired myself out or they kept using time skips to forward the plot. If it wasn't for that I would have probably put it higher on my list.

11. Hwarang- The Beginning

I wouldn't call it an accurate period drama but Hwarang was still fun to watch. I think it was the third drama I watched? It was a lot different from the previous 2. I don't think I'd rewatch it again but I'm glad I watched it at least. A peasant comes into an elite city and joins an elite band of warriors with the secret prince, everyone is trying to find out who the prince is and overthrow the queen? I don't think I'm explaining the plot very well but I don't think there's a lot to explain either. The cast was great, and I did want to see the characters succeed but I don't think it was the greatest drama in the world, nothing was particularly inspiring or heartfelt to me personally.
