Grimmway Farms has issued a recall of select organic whole carrots and organic baby carrots that should no longer be in grocery stores but may be in consumers' refrigerators or freezers. These products may have been contaminated with Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (E. coli) O121:H19. E. coli O121:H19 is a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people, and those with a weakened immune system. Some infections can cause severe bloody diarrhea conditions, such as a hemolytic uremic syndrome, or the development of high blood pressure, chronic kidney disease, and neurologic problems. Symptoms include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, fever, nausea, and/or vomiting. The incubation period for E. coli O121:H19 in humans can range from 24 hours to as much as ten days. The average incubation period is 3 to 4 days.

The following recalled products were shipped directly to retail distribution centers nationwide in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada: - Organic whole carrots, which do not have a best-if-used-by date printed on the bag, but were available for purchase at retail stores from August 14 through October 23, 2024, - Organic baby carrots with best-if-used-by-dates ranging from September 11 through November 12, 2024. The recalled carrots should not be available for purchase in stores but may be in consumers' refrigerators or freezers.

as of time of posting, the main FDA recall page and the CDC investigation page have an error and do not list Kroger or LIDL baby carrots, while the FDA outbreak investigation page does. I am assuming that this means they are part of the recall and that this error will probably be fixed soon.

the recalled carrots are thought to be associated with an E. coli O121:H19 outbreak. 39 illnesses, 15 hospitalizations, and one death have been linked to this outbreak so far.

as always, these numbers are expected to be lower than the true number of illnesses and deaths, and will likely rise. not everyone seeks medical attention, and even when all testing and reporting procedures go as smoothly as possible, it can take weeks to officially link an illness to an outbreak.

noteworthy from the FDA investigation page:

FDA is working with the firm to determine the source of contamination and whether additional products are affected. This advisory will be updated as information becomes available.

in short, there is a possibility this contamination may affect more than just the recalled carrots. keep up to date with these pages to stay on top of this outbreak.

the recalled carrots are no longer on shelves. but if they are in your fridge or freezer, destroy or discard them and clean anything they may have touched.

do NOT eat these carrots! this strain of e. coli is dangerous and at least one person has died.

if you think you got sick in relation to this outbreak, please seek medical attention, even if just to get your illness officially associated with this outbreak.

Only all of forever later but I'm rewatching Bee and Puppycat right now and I finally remembered to GET A SCREENSHOT OF THE TREES

I don't have a picture on hand of the trees on Bee's Island, but they definitely aren't normal - they grow with that little circle in the trunk and bear pink fruit with a pink bow, much like Bee's motif and Bee's dad wears.

So, we know all along the island was Violet/Puppycat's shop, which leaves me with two ways of thought. My main theory is that their ship crashed a long, long, long time ago. Long enough for the ship to develop an eco system, long enough for it to be established as an island with a train connected to the mainland and have a mayor and a thriving population. The other alternative is that when the ship crash-landed, they CREATED an eco system/disguised it as an island, but that obviously creates the holes of: how did other people come to live on it, when did it become an established part of the world (the train, govt), etc.

I suppose most likely it is a combination of both - that it crashed a very long time ago and created the island/ecosystem, hence the bizarre things like all 4 seasons in one day and the very unique trees. It just FEELS like the island is pretty well established and therefore at least 100 years or so old, but that also means the ship parts have been hanging around the ocean that long, too. I know this is very surrealist therefore lots of bizarre things take place and everyone but Cas just kinda accepts it, but how else would the island get hooked up via train you know?

All of that said, it's interesting that not only Bee shares a color palette and motif with her dad but, in general, the whole island does. Because we know Bird is basically a super genius, I'm guessing he would have had a hand in "developing" the ship into an island, hence the trees with the ribbon fruit?

Another loosely related thought is: isn't it interesting how Wesley calls all the ship parts in the ocean Bee's things, and she also claims ownership? We know she doesn't really recall Puppycat from her past (understandably) or know of the ship parts in the basement (Violet's doing?) so she has no idea of his identity and connection to his past. So... why does she claim ownership? Presumably all of those parts ended up in the ocean because the ship crashed. In Pyppycat's flashback dream, the ship hasn't yet been repaired and is an island with people living on it, and Bee is just a wee thing. I guess the only theory I have is Wesley, like the older wizards, may be more aware of the peculiar nature of Bee and the others in the apartment, and calls it her stuff by extension of her dad? But idk it still feels vaguely more profound than that, given how hard it was to get her to finally gather her stuff.

When she says she doesn't like the ocean because it makes her think about stuff, I took it to mean the wreckage in the ocean, so is it more like... she doesn't like thinking of her true nature? Her father's absence? That doesn't seem right but it's all I can come up with right now. It makes it feel like everything is in the ocean because of her and thus it's her responsibility to clean it up, but she doesn't even know how it all goes back together so...

i haven't given a lil update in a while so! hey guys! I've been doing peachtober over on my instagram if you want to check any of that out! i've actually been doing really well on being fairly consistent with art lately, which is great! i'm trying to do all gouache for peachtober! we'll see how that goes! i joined an art server in hopes of being part of an art community and accidentally got myself promoted to mod-lite LMAO I finally fixed my art wall so that I have art prints up there again and it's so niiiiiice to have so much pretty art up there again!

i think i'm going to use some of my reward points from work to cash out some michael's giftcards and FINALLY buy myself some polymer clay and acrylic paint and start making myself lil clay magnets and figures and just all kinds of silly things i've been drawing out for years now!

i've actually been playing a lot of games lately! fields of mistria, of course (my game of the year). tiny glade, because of course! my friend told me sunhaven was good so i decided to try it and aaaahhhhh i'm so glad i have, it's so fun! go-go town is a LOT of fun, too! i've also bought myself spiritfarer finally but i'm saving that for when i'm ready to cry a lot alkfjakfljakfjaf

i had a really scary health scare with Moo - I thought I found a mammary lump and we made an appointment for her, and then the appointment got rescheduled, and I spent a whole week just SOBBING lmao bracing myself for news that my cat has cancer and we need to treat on it, just hoping and praying that it'd be something treatable and that i'd figure out how to pay for it later and then...... we got to the vet appointment and.... no one could find it lkjaflkjaflkakjfjaf lmao the vets felt NOTHING of concern on her belly so.......... :| LMAO most expensive "well thank god that was nothing" lkajfjkafjfa lmaooooooo

work is still stressful and we've finally gotten through a rough, busy period, but I think I'm headed back into another one; my edits are piling up and just thinking about it has me stressed out hhhhhhhhhhhh

I Love Yoo Vol 1 Release Update

Hey guys! We're less than 2 weeks out from when I Love Yoo's physical copy is supposed to release and we've got some semi-bad news: it won't be releasing on October 15. We got to ask Quimchee some questions about its release in her patreon server and she's given us permission to share some of this information, so here's what we know so far.

Webtoon Unscrolled, the publisher, is separate from Webtoon the platform publisher. When retailers post books on their sites for preorder and sale, they need to have some kind of release date. Presumably, October 15 is the date they were aiming for and intending to publish, and there's been miscommunication of sorts between the publisher and retailers, and the date hasn't been updated. Quimchee is still in the process of proofs and confirmations. On September 5 she posted about Barnes and Nobles' pre-order book promotion at the request of the publisher, but she revealed that at this time she hadn't seen proofs of the book yet.

We don't at this time know when the book will actually release. She's reached out to the publishing team and I'll let you guys know when we have updates, but until then, please understand that we will not be seeing the physical copy in the next couple weeks as anticipated and don't know when it will come out but it is still in production and will release when production is completed.
