Day 14: Homeless

I have to frequently rearrange my car to avoid suspicion not only from my coworkers and management, but to the parents picking up their children from preschool. It is extremely exhausting.

Exhausting is an understatement I haven’t had a proper night’s rest in two weeks. My make shift “bed” even with all the layers is still uncomfortable especially because one of the seats won’t go down. I work at a preschool which is debilitating not only physically but emotionally.

All I want is a roof on my head. I am using more gas than normal. Driving more than I usually do. My car already had a minor accident which causes it to scrape the ground. I got that trying to park in the hotel where I sleep at.

WORD COUNT UPDATE TIME Y'ALL

So I actually hit the 30-chapter mark just before Mild Computer/Keyboard Fuckery occurred. So updates are thusly:

Ed's story: 132,594 words. Current chapter count: 32. I have 28 hand-written pages because Mild Keyboard Fuckery in particular meant I couldn't do any typing. About fifteen of them cover a good chunk of Week 6.

Al's story: 129,150 words. Current chapter count: 31. Al has had some comparably shorter chapters lately, but I think it's going to take longer to wrap up his overall story arc so it's likely he's going to overtake Ed's word-count in the end. 7-8 pages of those 28 written by hand include the start of Week 6.

I've also shuffled around the story titles. "Mind the Gap" has become the title for Ed's story and I've tentatively settled on "Without A Summer" for Al's, but that may change in the future. The series title is now "Calamity Theories". It will cover these two stories and an adaptation of Conqueror of Shamballa.

Day 1: Being Homeless

Being homeless again is already re-traumatizing me from the last time I was homeless. I have been up since 5am cleaning and clearing out my apartment and from then I went straight to work. My heart rate has been elevated all day.

Despite everything I had to hold back tears at work and put on the best face I could for my kids. My only worry is keeping my hygiene while being around growing children and their parents.

I’m begging y’all to care. I’m begging for a community. I want to stabilize and have permanent housing. I’m in isolation after being displaced. Mentally I feel myself slipping.

$6000 gets me permanent housing

$700 gets me a hotel for the week (it will also be a reoccurring ask)

$84 + tax will get me a night at a hotel
