"adhd is the easiest disability to have" “sure plenty of people have adhd but most people are faking” “people are abusing the resources that WE need so that’s why i can’t get my adderall!”
there has been an artificial shortage of all adhd medication for the past 4 years in the US. every investigation into this shortage has returned with the unequivocal result that simply nobody thinks we need it enough to solve the problem.
so they point fingers at the “faker” gaming the system to get adderall who “thinks” they have adhd or is “abusing stimulants to get ahead” for a problem that Our system MANUFACTURED.
so we would be at each others throats instead of realizing that our government and big pharma is to blame for all of this. because their First priority is to punish addicts and to punish folks with adhd and to punish anyone who relies on medication. over everything else. even over profit.

Did you kNoW?
Stimulants affect people with ADHD differently because our brains are not processing the naturally produced dopamine as effectively as a neurotypical brain would. The stimulant helps boost us to a 'normal' feeling level.
This is why when a neurotypical person takes ADHD medication they have extreme bursts of productivity and write their thesis in one night or I dunno remodel their house, while an ADHD person might just take them and be like 'Hooray I managed to wash my clothes and hang them up in the same day!'
Jokes on them though, because I can drink coffee at 11pm and sleep right after. Take that society.

Adhd? Nah nah. It’s a CPU problem, my dude. My processor is super outdated and doesn’t have nearly enough threads to process daily functions. Keeps having to restart tasks, because it doesn’t have enough power to keep track of multiple things at a time. That’s why I get distracted so easily. No other reason.

if y'all ever wonder why so many of my books revolve around characters being imprisoned or trapped in some kind of dull, empty, lifeless space like an underground dungeon or an insane asylum or just a blank void, and it's pure agony for them -
it's because I'm ADHD and that's just my experience working a 9-5.

Ed + being a whole adhd mood, part 2 (part 1)
note: first, this isn't a diagnosis, only a very familiar pattern. also I know that we have contextual clues to hint that breaking the record was about more than boredom, but. that is such an adhd line.

I can’t seem to find that Post again, and I don’t know If it contained study-links to begin with, but someone recently mentioned that ADHD people who regularly take ADHD-stimulants in young-adult-hood are less likely to develop dementia in old age, BUT/AND also, for YEARS people have been joking that Part of the reason why The Orange Guy is as incoherent as he is, is because he has been abusing Adderall for decades, which implies that long-term use of Adderall is widely believed to cause/contribute-to dementia…
------------------
So I read the study that post was based on, and here’s what it said:
First, the study enrolled about 100,000 individuals in their 50s-70s and followed them for 17 years to determine their risks of developing ADHD or dementia. About 0.7% of them were diagnosed with adult ADHD during the study period, and those individuals were about 3x more likely to later be diagnosed with dementia during the study period than their peers who were not diagnosed with ADHD.
A secondary finding of the study was that those who were treated with stimulant medications did not have this same 3-fold increase in dementia diagnoses during the study period.
To explain this, the study cites another study that looked at ADHD medications to treat Alzheimer’s Disease, ultimately stating that one possibility for this difference in dementia diagnosis rates between treated and untreated ADHD was that the ADHD medication masked/treated the symptoms of dementia. This may have ultimately delayed or prevented the diagnosis of dementia in this cohort during the study period.
Also, since the study only looked at older adults who were diagnosed with ADHD during the study period, could it be that they were actually picking up on early dementia symptoms instead of ADHD symptoms? This may have artificially inflated the number of people diagnosed with dementia after a diagnosis of ADHD.
Based on these confounding factors and the study design itself, the study cannot say that treatment of ADHD in young adults resulted in a lower rate of dementia in older adults. However, it does support treatment of both adult ADHD and dementia with stimulant medications, regardless of age.
Now, treatment of ADHD or dementia with stimulant medications (amphetamine or otherwise) and abuse of amphetamines are two very different things. People who abuse amphetamines tend to use them in much higher dosages and generally have less or no medical supervision. According to this study, people who abused amphetamines (or who had amphetamine-induced psychosis) were about 5x more likely to be diagnosed with dementia as those who did not abuse amphetamines or have amphetamine-induced psychosis.
This also begs the question- assuming amphetamine abuse is part of the issue, is it actually dementia (which could occur regardless of amphetamine abuse), or is it amphetamine-induced psychosis?

writing nonsense for math universe again:
--
He writes the next line of his proof, relishing in the hitch of Hob’s breath at the scratch of the pen. Hob’s skin looks pretty, he thinks, adorned with these fragments of the universe, but prettier just as he is. Though Dream does like putting his mark on him.
“Genius at work,” Hob muses, looking at him from under his lashes. “That’s sexy. D’you know how sexy you are?” “‘Sexy,’” Dream grumbles, as he writes another line on Hob’s chest. “Fucking hot. D’you remember when we met? When you behaved like an absolute twat about me ‘stealing’ your classroom?” Dream remembers it well. He remembers how overwhelming Hob's presence was from the very start. “It was my classroom,” he says. “Um, according to the university schedule, it was mine.” “We’ve had this argument already,” Dream says. “What were you saying?” “Well, you told me to go fuck myself—which, by the way, I think I’ve heard you use that word maybe five times in the whole time we’ve known each other, so you really must have been flustered—” he seems very pleased at this— “anyway, you told me to go fuck myself and I really almost said ‘I’d rather you did it.’ I think the fact that the undergrads were already getting to class is the literal only thing that stopped that coming out of my mouth.” Dream… did not know this. And Hob is just grinning at him. “What would you have said?” he asks. “I would have run away,” Dream admits, and Hob laughs.
