can we just... talk about Wednesday? Because I don't know how to feel about it. I watched the show with little expectations in terms of the plot, and I personally ended up enjoying it, though many people have expressed their distain for it. i didn't like everything about it. It was a bit brain numbing i guess, since after watching it my brain was devoid of thought, which is why i was probably able to watch it without question. I usually pick stuff apart whilst i watch it, but i think I was just so determined to finish it I didn't pay as much attention. Final opinions are:
i enjoyed the cartoon-ish nature of the plot. It wasn't that serious and things were solved very quickly. As a writer, I should despise that. I adore writing books with complex plot points that are long winded and explained with care as to not info-dump but to provide the context needed. However, as a person with horrid fucking anxiety, I LOVE stupid stories with shitty easy to solve plots, such as the one present in Wednesday. It's easy to see what's coming and if an episode ends on a cliffhanger, I know for a fact that it will be solve in the next episode. I also tend to judge shows and movies in context to other shows and movies made by the same company. For example, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed Falcon and the Winter Soldier as I really didn't like the previous marvel movies and show. Of course falcon wasn't the best show in context to other pieces of media outside of marvel, but for a marvel show, it topped my standards. Wednesday is the same for me in terms of Netflix live actions reboots. I don't care what you think of the show Wednesday, you must agree it is better than the other live action reboots. I hate riverdale and i hate Winx fate saga, they are terrible, objectively and subjectively, they aren't good. Wednesday shocked me as it was better than both. This also plays into the other kind of shows that are on the rise: gritty shows with teenagers. Euphoria and the abhorrent Velma show, are disgusting inaccurate depictions of teenagers. Not to say teenagers don't do these things, it's just that it isn't presented correctly. Teens smoke, drink and fuck, we know this, I've heard shit, i've seen shit. But they do it immaturely. Teens are both children and adults. If they do adult things, they do it childishly, and vice versa. Wednesday had a relatively accurate depiction of teenagers (albeit a bit cartoony but it fits with the shows themes). So from that standpoint alone, it blew my expectations out the water.
Now to the stuff i didn't like about the show: the characters. Which is a massive part of the show of course. The characters were easier to stomach when i watched it because i simply liked the actors, but analysing the characters after, yeah, i don't like them that much. I liked Wednesday in the beginning, but towards the end, she wasn't as fun to watch. As far as what she does, she's very fun to watch and has to be the only who holds up well (kinda, i'll explain this later), the rest of the characters are kinda poorly written and become kinda unlikeable. I never thought i would say this, but I don't like Enid as much as I did when i started watching. Not from a "oh she's such a horrible person" but rather "oh, she's been written really poorly". That can be said about all the characters, including Wednesday towards the end. The messages the characters give the the audience is my main gripe with the show. Enid talks about how friends do stuff for friends, even without asking. "That's what friends do". This is stupid, it is. If your friend tells you not to do something, and you do it, you are betraying their trust. You don't know why your friend doesn't want you to do that, and they don't need to tell you, they'll tell you if they want to. You shouldn't assume things that your friend wants, especially if you don't know them well, like Wednesday's relationship with enid and the others. It's not a good message to spread as stuff like this is something autistic people and other nd people struggle with, this makes this line from enid to wednesday, a very nd/autistic coded character, much worse. A seemingly stupid request not to do something could have much deeper roots for an nd person. I got very mad at friend when she intentionally splashed me with water once. I had told her very explicitly not to splash me and explained that i hate getting wet when i'm wearing normal clothes as the texture is horrid and it would make me very cold. She continued to splash and my voice became more and more distressed. She ignored this, cuz duh, a little water never hurt anyone? But she eventually splashed me and i scolded her. I wasn't very cold nor wet, but it meant something else to me. She betrayed something i told her, and i even explained to her before hand why i didn't like it. So yeah it's stupid to most, but now i know i can't trust her with stuff like that, doesn't that seem a bit counterproductive to friendship. Wednesday was framed as a stuck up killjoy for not enjoying the birthday party she explicitly did not want, and yet i understand why. I think this is also a reason i liked this show; i liked wednesday, i related to her (kinda). She's not the Wednesday Addams character that she should be, but if you disconnect her from her roots (which you technically shouldn't since this is an adaptation) she's a fascinating character that could have had a lot more done with her.
So to end off: The plot is objectively bad, but a fun and easy watch. The characters are bad, but the main character is relatable yet lacking (which almost makes me wanna watch the next season because i want to see her expanded upon). She's fun by herself, but as a supposed wednesday addams adaptation, she falls completely flat of that title. Which is why i feel the show would have been better if it wasn't attached to wednesday. If it was just a show about ghouls going to school and the main character was an autistic coded character trying to survive among bullies while a murder mystery was being solved as a background plot, it would have been better. Think of it like a mix between monster high and gravity falls, heck it would have been nicer as a cartoon, though i did enjoy the visuals. I think wednesday should have had more conflicts with characters that actually hate her than just being a bitch to characters try to be nice. It's more forgiving in this context because wednesday is nd coded, but there has been a rise in the "everyone fucking hates me except no one hates me and everyone likes me" character archetype, like in the I am not starfire comic. It would have been nicer to see wednesday make a proper friend and in the mean time get back at actually horrible people, like bullies or bigots instead of people trying (and failing) to help her.
also TYLER AND XAIVIER SHOULD HAVE BEEN BOYFRIE-
#when i tell you I WAS SO UPSET WHEN WE LEARNED TYLER FUCKING ASSAULTED XAIVIER#YALL COULD HAVE BEEN SO GOOD TOGETHER#wednesday should have been ace aro btw#at least aromantic if anything pleaseeeeeeeeee#wednesday#wednsday addams#netflix series#netflix wednesday#tempted to write a show based on the wednesday plot now (except it wouldn't be related to wednesday addams)#the show may have sucked but the actors slayed fr#also enid should have been bi no way yall can pull a conversion camp on us and NOT HAVE the character be queer that's just insensitive#the edits of the show are fun you can't lie about that#maybe don't bully people who like the show? we can't all be either neurotypical cis straights or Addams family purists#i'll be honest i've never watched any addams family related stuff before this#but i still know shit about them dw#had to learn the theme song for a theatre group ages ago#i'd say âi'm not hatingâ but no one's gonna fucking listen anyways so i don't give a fuck#hate me if you wish hopefully you can get it out of your system and not take it out on others#have a nice day!#DRINK WATER BITCHES#screaming into the void

So several years ago, the very first time I ever heard of The Addams Family, my older sister mentioned something about it, and asked if Iâd ever heard of it. I told her I hadnât, so she explained the premise and sang a little bit of the theme song.
Some time later, probably a couple years or so, I saw a commercial, either for a TV channelâs Halloween event, or a trailer for several movies at the beginning of a VHS, which included clips of the Barry Sonnenfeld Addams Family movies, and that was the first time I had a visual for the thing my sister had told me about once that had never come up again.
A few more years later, I watched the 1964 TV show for the first time, and that was when I learned that A) the movies Iâd seen the trailers for were remakes, and B) the theme song sounded NOTHING like the little bit Iâd heard from my sister.
We had a book of sheet music for various TV show themes at home, and I knew the Addams Family theme was one of the songs in it, so I looked through it, and the lyrics matched what Iâd heard on the TV, and nowhere in it was the part my sister had sung. Also, at some point, my younger sister mentioned that we had seen The Addams Family at someone elseâs house, and that got my mom humming/singing the theme, which, again, was the one Iâd heard on TV.
It made absolutely no sense to me that the lyrics and tune that I thought was part of The Addams Family theme for YEARS wasnât part of it at all, and after a period of puzzling over it, I finally concluded that my sister had to have made up the song sheâd sung, and I must have misheard her and thought she was saying what she thought the theme song probably sounded like, and not what it actually was. But I had been so certain up till that point that she had been actually demonstrating what the song sounded like.
A few days ago, I saw a post or article that pointed out a couple of Easter eggs in Wednesday, the Netflix series, and when it mentioned the snapping twice to get into the Nightshadesâ library, it of course explained that the snapping was part of the theme song, but then it specified which adaptations that theme was a part of. I had always just assumed that they used the same theme for every version, since it was in the original show and the movies, and it never occurred to me that there might be more than one Addams family theme song out there.
So just now, I found a video on YouTube of Addams Family opening titles throughout the years, and I decided to watch it out of curiosity for what the other versions might sound like, not even thinking about the thing I used to think was the Addams Family theme, because Iâd written it off as Not A Real Song ages ago. And I get to the last opening in the video, and lo and behold, ITâS THAT SAME FREAKING SONG. THE ONE MY SISTER SANG FOREVER AGO. IT ACTUALLY DOES EXIST. Iâve wondered on and off for years why the hell she sang a made up song and called it the Addams Family theme when the real theme sounds nothing like it, and itâs because it IS the Addams Family theme, itâs just from a low budget remake from the late â90s thatâs probably the least watched adaptation in existence, but itâs REAL.
#the only words I knew were ''welcome to the Addams Family''#so I knew it couldn't be a theme song to another show that she'd gotten mixed up#holy shit this song actually exists#my mind is blown right now#The Addams Family

On Gothic
a cute helpful guide on the gothic subculture that no one asked for <3
goth music springing from the late 1970s after the post punk movement was a subculture heavily inspired by the themes found in victorian gothic literature
gothic literature:
frankenstein - mary shelley
dracula - bram stoker
jekyll and hyde - robert stevenson
wuthering heights - emily bronte
rebecca - daphne du maurier
edgar allen poe <3
some keywords that come from gothic literature that can help you spot a goth song:
'dark' 'death' 'black' 'cold' 'heaven' 'hell' 'witches 'bats' 'night' 'roses' 'blood' 'church' 'forest' 'jesus' 'grey' 'horror' 'shadow' 'sacrifice' 'tears' 'ghost' 'spells' 'cry' 'love' 'haunted' 'funeral' 'cathedral'
Some other themes in a song that can help you to decide if it goth or not can be:
heavy bass
synth sounds (the song sounds like it was recorded in an empty church)
mysterious and whimsical vocals
deep vocals
lack of a (electric) guitar
The 1980's and 90's were the peak for the gothic subculture, especially in camden market, london, england
Some bands that were prominent at the time were...
Bauhaus
The Cure
Sisters of Mercy
Siouxsie and the Banshees
Christian Death
Clan of Xymox
The Cramps
Depeche Mode
New Order
Joy Division
Alien Sex Fiend
Fields of the Nephilim
Killing Joke
The Damned
Nick Cave
Softcell
Some other goth band recs:
Boy Harsher
Children on Stun
Earth Calling Angela
Molchat Doma
Forever Grey
Horror Vacui
Lebanon Hanover
London After Midnight
Male Tears
The March Violets
The Merry Thoughts
Paradise Lost
Paralysed Age
Plastique Noir
Rendez Vous
Rosetta Stone
Selofan
She Wants Revenge
Skinny Puppy
Specimen
This Cold Night
Tragic Black
Traitrs
Type O Negative
Twin Tribes
ULTRA SUNN
Xmal Deutschland
Your Funeral
The 69 Eyes
Please let me know which ones i've missed because these are just ones that I have taken from my own playlist!
The music is the number one most important part of goth subculture and you don't have to dress goth to be goth... but it sure is fun to do so! Goth fashion holds its roots in thrifting, upcycling and sustainable fashion (buying 'goth' clothes from shein, dollskill and killstar is a big no no).
Anyone can style their gothic outfits however they like but here are some examples of different styles:
Trad(itional) Goth:
Romantic Goth:
Victorian Goth:
The styles can get very similar so let me know if iâve mixed any up!
Iâve reached the limit on the number of pictures i can add so here are some more examples of goth styles:
Corporate goth
Gothabilly
Mall Goth
Cyber Goth
J-Goth
Baby Bat
Mopey Goth
Vampire Goth
Steam punk
To end the post i'm circling back to gothic literature by listing some films too (which are often based on the books)
Everyone's beloved: Bela Lugosi in the first adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula in 1931
The Crow 1994 which comes with a song from The Cure
Interview with the Vampire 1994
The Rocky Horror Picture Show 1975
Edward Scissor Hands 1990
The Addams family 1991 (if he's not like gomez then i don't want him)
The Craft 1996
That's all I have for now and if you made it this far thank you so much for reading and have a nice day <3

Me: *staring into space with an earbud in*
Someone: You okay there pal?
Me (internally): Type O Negative's "Black Number One" is mocking goth stereotypes while the band is itself a goth stereotype and seemed aware of it but the entire song is built around a bass line that is an extrapolation of the guitar hook in "Pretty Woman" - this is made explicit in the bridge at about 5:50 in the 11min 16sec version of the song the song is teasing but the entire fucking thing is about how fuck-off hot this goth chick is; the Addams Family theme that pops up, the reference to Lily Munster, these are throwaway gags the line that carries the whole song is Pretty Woman. Does that guitar part from the bridge even make it to the short cut of the song? No, the video cut doesn't have any of the weird ass movements of the long version. Is this obvious to people? I hope this is obvious to people. I'm probably the only one rotating this in my head this is probably obvious to people. Fuck, I love this song.
Me (externally): Yeah, I'm good. Just vibing.

Well, I had an idea for you to do...
The reader is a streamer who enters the Welcome website and, together with the live people, gets to know this Welcome and Yandere! Wally.
Well, how would Wally react to that? And as time goes by wally falls in love with the reader, how would he see the reader's fans and his job of doing live, playing games, watching videos?
-đ°
{Sorry this took so long! But I ended up getting to caught up in the request and ended up having to make a pt. 2, I do apologize though, I hope you donât mind. As always, I hope you enjoy! And thank you for the request!}
(Art, Wally and Welcome Home all rightfully belongs to @partycoffin)
âNostalgiaâ Pt. 1
Pairing: Yandere Wally Darling x Streamer! GN!Reader
Tw: Yandere behavior, cussing
Summary: You decide to take a trip down memory lane with your Viewers. Unaware of the consequences.
Y/N was a daily streamer under the name of {Streamer name}.
Y/N wasn't very big or popular, maybe with a few frequent watchers here and there that would greet them in real life and ask for a quick picture, but thatâs all Y/N could ask for really.
They didnât need to have a big platform or have a lot of money. They just wanted to stream for fun, just something they could do in their free time when they had nothing else to do.
Y/N didnât really have a main style of content to put out. Sometimes itâll be them reacting/watching something a viewer recommends, playing a video game, or even just making a relaxing space for anyone who needs itâ playing soft music in the background while answering to any comments.
One day, Y/N was hit with an unexpected wave of nostalgia. They had started remembering fond memories from childhood. From the happy ones to the embarrassing onesâ down to the old shows they used to watch as a kid. The sudden wave gave them an idea. Once they would get home from work, Y/N would take their viewers down memory lane and react to old shows and/or movies from the early 2000âs.
âThat theme song had no reason being that good, Iâm telling you,â Y/N said, taking a sip of their drink while reading the chat.
=======
NeonLeon: No fr
Anxpsyche: The Little Einsteins theme song from season 2 is the best, I know they just added clapping but it made it sm better
WhimsicalWanderbitch: I remember I used to watch Little Einsteins and The Backyardigans all the time when I was kid with my brother
Passionfruit69: Pls play the wonder pets theme song
WhimsicalWanderbitch: me and him always sang along to the songs
Theanklebreaker: I loved wonder pets, omg
JumpInTheMacaque: Does anyone remember Sharkboy and Lavagirl?!
Kirbolissous: OH MY GOD I REMEMBER I USED TO LOVE THE SHIT OUT OF YO GABA GABA THAT SHOW WAS MY SHIT
Escapeben: Do you remember Oswald?
Scouts_Kubs: all I remember watching is little bill and how the teletubbies scared tf out of me
Springday23:SAME!
lychee_jelly_tea:I REMEMBER SHARKBOY AND LAVAGIRL
=======
As Y/N was talking with the chat, they had let out a gasp. âAweee, oh my god, I just remembered this really old show I used to watch,â The Streamer cooed, flashbacks flooding their mind of them watching said show for hours on end. Recalling all the soft yet bright and vibrant colors of the show, and all the lovable characters.
Y/N waited a moment for the chat to respond. Seeing most of them asking for the name of the show, while a few others carried on with their own conversations. âIt wasnât an early 2000âs show, it was likeâŠâ The streamerâs words trailed off, trying to remember when the show was made. âAh fuck, when was the show made? It was made in theâŠ70âs..? I wanna say, oh my god, Wait, what was it called? God damn it,â Y/N leaned back on their chair, with their hands over their face, as they tried to remember the name of the show. Meanwhile the chat was listing off shows from the 70âs to try and jog their memory.
========
lychee_jelly_tea: Lupin the third pt. 2?
JumpInTheMacaque: The Addams Family?
Theanklebreaker: UhâŠNew Fantastic four?
Kirbolissous: Was it The New Adventures of Batman?
NeonLeon: Scooby doo?
======
âOh my god it was called Welcome Home!,â Y/N shouted, jumping up from their previous position.
âThat one show that looks like it was inspired by Sesame Street? Oh my god wait-â Y/N went to Google and searched up, âWelcome Home Charactersâ the results popped up right immediately. âThese bitches!â The streamer circled their cursor around a big JPG image of all the âWelcome Homeâ characters.
âI remember that whenever I would have to be babysat by my grandparents, all they had was this old Combo television unit and a bunch of old VHS tapes. So all I had to watch was whatever VHS tapes they had and Welcome Home was one of them,â Y/N explained, unintentionally looking further down the rabbit hole of the show, reminiscing in all its glory. By now, Y/N was grinning from ear to ear.
âOh my god, this is gonna be embarrassing but I remember Wally, the main character- er the one with the blue hair, low-key used to creep me out,â Y/N laughed, feeling embarrassed how a puppet with a blue pompadour used to creep them out.
âLike, I wasnât scared of him but the way he laughed and the way he would just stare at people for an uncomfortable amount of time in the show is what creeped me out,â Y/N had elaborated after noticing the chat was clowning them for being scared of a puppet.
====
Anxpsyche: Bro, you were scared of him? He looks gay as shit
lychee_jelly_tea: I ACTUALLY REMEMBER WATCHING THAT SHOW AND HAVING A HUGE CRUSH ON WALLY!
JumpInTheMacaque: @Lychee_jelly_tea had me watch that show when we were younger and I low-key loved it
NeonLeon: You were really scared of a puppet? This puppet out of all of them?
JumpInTheMacaque: They actually have a website for that show now
Theanklebreaker: I would be scared of the chicken that looks like Big bird
Passionfruit69: Iâd be scared of the gray one thatâs looking at the butterfly
=========
âOkay- Later on I wasnât scared of him. He grew on me, Iâm just saying when I first watched him I thought he was a little off!â Y/N defended, it took awhile for them to notice a specific comment. âWait, JumpInTheMacaque, you said they have a website?â Y/N leaned forward, scrolling back up to where JumpInTheMacaque made that comment before scrolling back down.
======
JumpInTheMacaque: Yea, but you canât really do much with it rn, you can only see the neighborhood from a Birds Eye view and see the Info about the characters
====
âI still wanna see it, give me a sec,â The streamer went to The search bar before pausing. âIs it just called âWelcome Home websiteâ OrâŠâ
âOh! I found it!â Y/N exclaimed, clicking on the website without hesitating The website opened up and a picture faded in with the title in big pastel letters on the left center of the picture and Wally sitting on a painted rock with colorful flowers, trees, and home all right behind him. Wally stared at you with his round eyes and had an opened mouth smile. Y/N ooohâed in awe, fascinated by the way the site opened up. âOh my gosh, this is so cool,â Y/N tried to contain their excitement, but the shake in their voice and the huge smile on their face was a dead give away. They apologized when they realized their failed attempt. âSorry guys, Iâm just so excited right now.â
"With a hop, skip, and a jump, you are ushered into the colorful, serendipitous world of Welcome Home! It only takes one stroll down the neighborhood to know this is just the nicest little place youâve ever seen! Watch Wally and his colorful array of friendly neighbors learn about the vibrant world around them and take part in nonsensical fun!"
âOh Jesus Christ, alright, letâs get started- Thereâs a guestbook?!âŠYOU CAN WRITE IN IT?! Wait- I wanna look at everything else first before I do the guestbook.â
The rest of the stream was filled with Y/N clicking around in the neighborhood and reading the info about the characters, expressing memories and giving info about some moments they remember from certain episodes. Y/N was about to click out of the neighborhood and take a look at the guest book. However, they caught a glimpse of something that seemedâŠout of place. âWhat the hell is that?â Y/N questioned, pointing to the small black spot under Home with their cursor. âWhat the hell is that?â The streamer leaned closer to their screen, squinting their eyes to try to get a better look. Right away, they tried to see if they could move Home out of the way, but it didnât work. Whenever they clicked on Home it either opened up to Wallyâs info or it didnât move. âWhatâŠwhat do I do? Thatâs not just me right, you guys can see that?â Y/N was at a loss, what do they do?
====
Kirbolissous: What the hell?
lychee_jelly_tea: Iâve never noticed that before! What is that?!
Anxpsyche: what in the actual hell is that?
NeonLeon: Why is there just a black hole under Wallyâs house?
JumpInTheMacaque: Try inspecting it, find Homeâs code, delete it, then get out of inspect
=====
âOkay, hold on,â Y/N followed the instructions the best they could, they wouldnât really skilled in this type of stuff, so they struggled a bit, though they figured it out pretty quickly. âOkayâŠâ They mumbled, now seeing a huge black hole in the place Home was. Y/N was confused and clicked on the hole. The computer suddenly opened up a new browser and it seemed to be taking awhile to load. However, Y/N said nothing, sitting in silence as the air slowly started to grow thick, and their palms started to sweat.
Y/Nâs eyes grew wide once the image finally loaded. The whole screen was black other than a red outline of Wally on his knees, reaching up to a window and Homeâs eyes staring back at him. Y/N stared at the image for what seemed like hours. They just sat there, inspecting the image in horror, but mainly in bewilderment.
What was this?
Why was Wally on the ground?
What was going on?
Why was this on the website? Was it supposed to be?
Slowly, Y/N clicked off the browser. The computer immediately took them back to the Welcome Home website. Y/N scratched their nose and clicked out of the neighborhood, going to the guestbook. âOkay, I donât know what that was but letâs-âŠâ The Streamer put in the name they go by online. âLetâs just do the Guestbook then Iâm calling it a day,â Y/N tried not to let people see how spooked they were, but again, their now quiet and soft tone, gave it all away.
Y/N wrote in the guestbook.
âLooked around the neighborhood with all my viewers, everything was so bright and colorful! Really loved it!â
With that, Y/N bid their signature goodbye to everyone before stopping the stream and turning everything off, but Y/N didnât move just yet. Their mind was still stuck on the image of Wally.
Was that supposed to be on the website? Why would it be? Are they just trying to add a twist to the franchise now? But why would they, it was fine the way it was. Yes, it got canceled, but thatâs only because it became outdated. Was this a sign for something big?
Gah, Y/N shouldnât be worrying about this. People are allowed to add things to a franchise as long as it stays true to the characters (to a certain extent) and stays respectful to the creators boundaries, and Wally was a bit of an odd one. Maybe theyâre just now going more in depth with his character since now itâs a new time with new interest, and they have to get peopleâs attention somehow, right?
Whatever the reason, it was getting late, and Y/N had to get up for work tomorrow. With that, they finally got up from their uncomfortable chair they use for every stream and stretched. Satisfied when they heard some joints pop and crack. Y/N let out a yawn, realizing how tired they were before walking off to their bathroom to brush their teeth..

âŠThrough the static of the TV, you can hear Wallyâs muffled voice boom through the tiny speakers.
"That concludes our time together for today, my dear neighbors. But rest assured, tomorrow is another day, and I'll be watching over you just as diligently. Goodbye, neighbor. Ha ha ha.â
