continuing from my anti-live-action-remake post... i CONSISTENTLY see people say "exceptions are treasure planet and atlantis" but this is also incorrect. a live action remake of either of these films would not result in these movies getting their flowers, it simply would not. a huge part of the appeal of both films is the visual language, the highly stylised characters and worlds, and you just KNOW if these were realised in "live action" especially by the disney corp of the present day, would just result in visually dark (as in hard to see) flat, uninspired CGI scenery, and equally bland and uninspired costuming for the live action characters, PLUS the flat, unexpressive performance of many 3D, hyper realistic, unstylised, boring as all hell alien characters in the case of treasure planet. you can cry "exceptions" all you like but the result would be as insipid and valueless as any other "live action remake" and that is a PROMISE!!!

this is absolutely mind bogglingly wonderfully tremendously splendid, and yes i am more than a little teary eyed as i watch this from under my blankets on this the morning of jolkien rolkien tolkien's birthday. i'm just a little speechless - the harmonies!!! the new verses that are so perfectly in character to the way they speak about each other in the musical. the little indignant 'PIPPIN!' gave me such a chuckle. PERFECT siblingly vibes. also LOVE that mrs bracegirdle gets her well deserved dues in a proper song verse. and rosie waiting 'for you too' i love crying!!!! and i love the imagined setting, the campire vibe, perfectly perfectly captured. and just! wonderful job too on the animatic aspect! i love the changing poses and the warm glowy colours during the chorus and of course, our beloved watermill stage.

a thousand million thank yous! we'll all be loving and listening to this, now and for always i am sure. 💖💖💖💖💖

I was already planning on doing something like this eventually, and then you said that you loved the "besties forever" vibes of our four hobbits, the "siblingy" vibe of Merry and Pippin, and Samfrosie (good), and I though that this song could be exactly that. Well. I thought I'd just write some new verses. Then I thought I could record it. Then I thought I could write some harmonies. Then...

god hello hi. it's like. 1:30 am. i just finished reading "and if it stops snowing" and i am DISTRAUGHT. seolhee. is so precious that sweet baby girl oh my god. that story is truly so beautiful and tugged on every heart string i swear i was tearing up. absolutely beautiful work, thank you so much for sharing it 🥹 the raw emotions everyone is feeling, the comfort and pain and care, the wisdom. god. it's perfect.

i wanted to ask, what are the boys' like, official departments/positions? yunhos in general surgery, seonghwa is a pediatric nurse, wooyoung also a nurse, san a doctor like y/n, hongjoong in neurology, but im not sure of the others? and that could be me just missing where it was written, but i was curious, especially about mingi. does he have a role with psychology? because i could absolutely see that being the case given his calm and wise nature.

the boys' official medical positions at kq hospital during the main timeline of the story:

hongjoong (junior doctor) - neurology department

seonghwa (clinical nurse specialist) - paediatric intensive care unit

yunho (4th-year resident) - department of general surgery

yeosang (4th-year resident) - oncology department

san (4th-year resident) - paediatric department

mingi (registered nurse) - emergency department

wooyoung (registered nurse) - paediatric department

jongho (3rd-year resident) - cardiology department

most of their positions were pretty obvious, especially those involved with seolhee, but the others defs needed you to pick up on the few descriptions i embedded into the storyline 🤓☝️

yeosang - pretty subtle mention during the scene where y/n and him hide away in a storage room together during a night shift and then you walk back to your department "pleased that yeosang's oncology ward is not far from yours"

mingi - couple more mentions for this one but definitely not as spelt out as yeo's. first one is at the very beginning during the phone call with jongho about mingi dealing with the bauble couple and other ED stories. other hint was mingi being the one to tell y/n that seolhee had been readmitted into ED with sepsis when he gets home, which is because it actually happened during his shift. i defs agree though that he would make a great psychologist/psychiatrist and i actually put him in ED for the exact reason that he'd be able to remain calm (and rational) amongst all the chaos and stress

jongho - both mentions were right at the very beginning so it would've been easy to miss and they require you to connect the dots yourself LOL over the phone call at the start jongho talks about open-heart surgery and he eventually gets paged to attend to an abnormal ECG reading, which is all to do with cardiology

on my second playthrough of dav. playing as an older nb he/him shadow dragon rogue named loren. having a lot of fun running around pretending im mentoring all these young people as a bitter, jaded elf who grew up in minrathous. picking the comedy dialogue option most of the time bc after seeing all the shit hes seen in his life all thats left is to laugh at the most inappropriate times. hes taash and bellara's quirky uncle. he sees a lot of himself in davrin. etc etc you get the idea.

im romancing emmrich this time and its really sweet. hes very proper. gives you flowers, calls you darling, takes you out for a nice dinner. took loren a lot of warming up to get to this point (being an elf from minrathous who mistrusts mages on principle, putting his cynical and negative personality up against emmrich's hopeful naiveté). i imagine lorens had a lot of flings but never something this romantic. theyre having a great time in the apocalypse.

but ive noticed the game just... expects you to be younger? its most apparent with varric calling rook "kid," which. okay i can make that work in my head. it seems just like him to make jokes about that to someone whos only a year younger than him.

everyone else? im?? theres several examples. harding mentioning that rook's "kinda younger" than emmrich, insinuating its a problem. emmrich himself worrying what others might think of their relationship, "given their ages." emmrich often and repeatedly calls rook "fresh-faced" when complimenting them. the list goes on.

im familiar with bioware writing being The Way That It Is, so im not tryna get into the root of the issue here. i just want to have fun with my little fake guy. so. to make this all not be weird im hcing that varric started the joke of calling rook "kid," and now the rest of the team is carrying on the bit because they know it irritates him. harding heard loren go "WE'RE THE SAME AGE, VARRIC" one time and was like oh im never gonna let him hear the end of this. and then she got everyone else on board with it.

What are some instances of retconning in animorphs that you have noticed? (aside from the first book)

Honestly, Animorphs is not bad. Compared to Sherlock Holmes or Percy Jackson, there's hardly any retconning at all. Compared to series like Dune or X-Men that built in-story retcon mechanisms because of the infinite overlapping retcons, Animorphs is practically airtight. Not Harry Potter or Mistborn airtight, sure, but better than any other multi-authored 20+ book series I know.

However, there are some. Ax's mention in #8 of occasional hork-bajir wars doesn't fit with Hork-Bajir Chronicles showing they have no concept of violence before andalites arrive. Cassie's line about "my niece" in #37 is not in line with her saying her parents are her only family in #49. Rachel suspects at times that Jordan's a controller (#12, #22) but in #49 Jordan's dismissed as even a potential threat.

And then there's the absolute clusterfuck of Tobias's parentage.

In #3, he says "my parents died." In #13, it's "both my folks left a long time ago." In Andalite Chronicles, when Elfangor asks about Loren: "She disappeared. When I was just little... I guess she died." In #23, he says "both my parents are dead." But also DeGroot says "Your father... who died? That may not have been your real father" implying a stepfather we never meet. After Elfangor's will it kinda falls into place, but even then...

Elfangor says he and Loren were ~14 mentally, ~18 physically, when they got to Earth, and that "when she was ready by human standards, I married her." He mentions getting multiple college degrees, but that it's only "three years later" that the Ellimist abducts him back to space. No one apparently notices he was gone — Ax has no idea Elfangor lived on Earth, and didn't notice him missing (#8), so... he time-traveled back and lived those three years twice? And no one noticed him being seven years older because... Ellimist fuckery? There's mention of Loren dating someone else after Al's "death", so at least the random step-dad is consistent. But Loren doesn't mention him in #49, so I guess she got remarried and rewidowed between Tobias's birth and his third birthday, and then she forgot him.

Anywhoo, it kind of lines up sorta if you squint, but I'm 99.9% sure that there was some degree of retcon somewhere in there.

Loren moved from London to New Orleans with their family when they were around 5 and became friends with Anika and Mc very quickly.

who confessed first?

I've always imagined Loren to have confessed their feelings first (I've even got an idea of how it happened:3).

how long have they been together?

I'd say they've been together for about 3 years. Loren did leave New Orleans to move back to London when they were 17, but they were very passionate about not letting the distance end their relationship with Mc

can we assure them that they are our one and only?

absolutely! you'll get options to be less than enthusiastic about the relationship, but you'll also get the options to be just as in love with them as they are with mc<3 (is this a good time to mention that loren also gets the first nsfw scene in the game:3)
