It was hot. Unbearably so. The type of hot that made it difficult to breathe. But that wasn't what had him floundering.

It was the boy across from him.

Regulus Black, who always, always wore collared shirts buttoned up all the way, seemed to be feeling the heat, too. Because he'd elected to undo the first three buttons and roll up the sleeves, revealing a few inches of his forearms and some of his chest and collarbones.

Merlin, his collarbones. Never before had James been so distracted by those particular body parts on a person. But for some reason, the bare skin peeking out from the white fabric was making him weak.

And as his eyes traced over the hills and valleys of Regulus's neck and Adam's Apple and clavicle, he couldn't look away. Because he'd never seen anything more perfect. More beautiful. That, coupled with the way Regulus's face looked, so soft in the summer sun, made him want to stare for hours.

"Godric, just go talk to him, mate," Sirius whispered, snapping him out of his daydreaming.

And James blushed but didn't say anything. Because he knew he was past trying to hide how obsessed he was.

okay but instead of muggle!aunt!reader that’s Lily’s little sister imagine wizard!uncle!reader that’s Jame’s little brother. him being the first to arrive at Godric’s Hollow but quickly Sirius Black arrives too. both are devastated until they see Peter but no words need to be spoken as the boys share a look and immediately attack the fucking rat. of course there isn’t a wizard in England that believes the reader would be capable of killing his big brother so Sirius is let off the hook as the blame of rightfully placed on Peter as it should have been in the first place. when the reader discovers Dumbledore intends to give Harry to the Dursley family, the reader pretty much goes “no” and basically steals him until McGonagall tells Dumbledore to let them be. so baby Harry could be raised in a flat in Diagon Ally or maybe a cottage in Hogsmead or even Lily’s childhood home on Spinner’s End as it seems like the one place they probably wouldn’t find either Potter boys.

maybe he’s born the same year as Regulus and the two become friends? maybe he’s a spy for the order that informs Sirius that Regulus isn’t so bad?? maybe he’s able to prevent Regulus from drowning after drinking the potion??? just imagine all of Sirius’ jokes about them being the ‘second generation’ of the Black/Potter duo.

Yesss!!!! I’ve often thought about doing something like a Wizard!Uncle!Reader with Harry. I mean we have Muggle!Aunt!Reader on Lily’s side, why not have a Wizard!Uncle!Reader on James’ side? It would be amazing! Especially for Harry.

I could see Wizard!Uncle!Reader never having really liked Peter Pettigrew. He just never really trusted the guy and certainly didn’t think that he belonged in his brother’s group of friends but James just went along with it so the Reader bit his tongue and went along with it too. But he would continue to keep his guard up when it came to Peter. Not that the Reader thought Peter was smart or cunning, just scummy and cowardice in his opinion.

I could see Sirius and Remus being pretty protective of James younger brother, more likely after James’ death especially if the Reader looked so much like him. I mean James was probably already pretty protective of his brother too but he also knew his brother could handle himself and would only involve himself behind the scenes or when he really needed too. Merlin help if Severus tried anything with the Reader, James wouldn’t hold back from kicking his ass. (Oh my glob, magine Severus having a crush on the Reader?!?!)

I wholeheartedly adore the idea of the Reader and Regulus being best friends. Like, I just imagine one of the times Sirius went to hangout at the Potter’s he dragged Regulus with him since he knew the Reader was the same age and basically forced a play date between the two. I wouldn’t put it past James and Sirius plotting to get their brothers to become the best of friends just like the two of them so that they could keep this Potter/Black tradition going, even if they had to force it on their brothers until they fell into it themselves. I also think it would fit so perfectly if the Reader ended up in Slytherin, not only to further the friendship between Regulus and him, but also to give Severus a heart attack every time he’s in the common room or in the boy’s dormitory given that the Reader most likely resembles James quite a bit.

I definitely see Regulus coming to the Reader about his plans to thwart the Dark Lord’s endeavors and him being all for sacrificing himself only for the Reader to be like “Nah, we’re not doing that.” The Reader is all for thwarting Voldemort but is adamant about putting more thought into it so that Regulus doesn’t have to lose his life over it. Of course he wouldn’t want to lose his best friend so he’ll do everything to make sure he comes out of it unscathed, or as unscathed as either of them can get.

When Harry’s born, the Reader would be such a devoted and doting uncle. He had Sirius definitely have scheduled babysitting days only for both of them to still pop up to take up baby Harry’s time and attention when it’s the other’s allotted time to spend with the baby. And whenever the Reader comes around he always drags Regulus with him. It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to imagine the Reader persuading Regulus to move in with him after graduating Hogwarts hence why they’re always together. (Maybe they’re just really good bros or maybe they’re lovers, who knows? Why not be both?🤷🏻‍♀️)

When everything goes down, I could see James and Lily instead making the Reader their trusted secret keeper. He would keep their location under lock and key which would more then not lead to his brother and Lily’s lives being spared, along with Harry’s. If they still went with Peter as their secret keeper or he somehow knew where they were going to be and still went to Voldemort about, the Reader would be hunting down his ass. He would at the very least be able to save Sirius from being put away but he wouldn’t rest until he killed Peter Pettigrew himself or saw him dead with his own eyes.

Even if Lily and James were to still meet their demise, the Reader, Sirius, Remus and Regulus would definitely be taking in Harry and raising him how James and Lily would have wanted. The Reader and Sirius would be the main ones to fight to keep Harry with them and to keep him from going with the Dursley’s. They may be likely to allow for Harry to interact with the Dursley’s on occasion if Dumbledore is so adamant about Harry being involved with them (mainly Petunia) due to Lily’s sacrifice and trying to keep that protection over Harry alive and active. But the Reader and Sirius won’t allow the Dursley’s to be Harry’s sole legal guardians, a family he’s force to be stuck with.

I like to imagine that Sirius, Regulus, the Reader and Remus all reside at 12 Grimmauld Place. Best to make use out of it while they have it really., not to mention it would give Harry more space to grow and run around in. It’s also definitely a coping thing for them all to be living with each other, especially for Sirius and Remus to be so close to what it feels like to have their best friend alive and well again, by their side like old times. Although the place would definitely go through a complete decorative and atmospheric change to make it more of a warm and welcoming home for all of them, especially if Harry’s going to be raised there. Walburga’s portrait just gets booted into a room no one ever goes into except Kreacher. The Reader comes up with an idea of him, Sirius, Regulus and Remus making up their own new family tapestry to put up instead of the old Black one. They of course add Lily and James to it along with Harry, as well as the good and worthy family members from all of their respective sides.

Harry would grow up happy, healthy and so very loved. He’ll never be told anything but the truth regarding his parents, never left in the dark about anything retaining to him or his family and the events that took place. He’d be allowed to know whatever he wanted about magic and more. And of course quidditch! Not to mention all the birthday parties he would have and the friends he would be able to invite over, especially from Hogwarts. Harry would be free to do as he pleased really, not having to be kept secret or act as if he didn’t exist at all.

When he finally does get his Hogwarts letter he and all his uncles are over the moon. They all would take him to Diagon Alley for his things and some other bits and bobs, they may even invite Hagrid along too just so he can be a part of it given how attached he grew to baby Harry. Overall it’s a wonderful experience that the Reader, Sirius and Remus wish that James and Lily could have been a part of too but are more than happy that they got to be by Harry’s side instead of him having to be on his own.

Also, as much as Sirius likes to gloat that he’s Harry’s favorite, it is very much the Reader who Harry is attached to the most. Not that anyone can blame him given that the Reader looks and acts very similar to James. Harry himself may also feel closer to the Reader because he does resemble his late father so much that Harry correlates himself and the Reader as being father and son rather than uncle and nephew.

I know Salazar is usually portrayed with black hair, but to me he has white hair and bright green eyes.

Salazar saw his wife, a pure-blood witch, killed and burned by Muggles, after being betrayed by one of his students (a Muggle-born) who betrayed the family.

He married twice more, but never loved anyone like his first wife, nor overcame his aversion to Muggle-borns.

The alleged Muggles who attacked his family were revealed years later as a faction of Muggle-borns infiltrated magical communities to reveal true wizards and kill them, he insisted that Hogwarts stop teaching Muggle-borns, and although Rowena agreed that greater screening should be done, the other founders were adamant in keeping the school open to all.

At the time of his death he had at least 8 children who had reached adulthood. He was especially close to Rowena Ravenclaw, who was his first wife's cousin. A relationship that persists in the proximity of the two houses, even almost a thousand years after her deaths.

Rowena has black hair and bright blue eyes like lapis lazuri, her mother was a highland elf, her beauty was the subject of songs and admiration for many men, but it was her intelligence that was never forgotten. Although everyone considered her a cold intellectual, her curiosity was the main defining characteristic of her personality. Helena had two children, the boy would marry one of Helga's daughters, but it would be Helena who would be remembered forever for her short life, which ended in tragedy. She was adamant about insisting on keeping Slytherin house after Salazar left the school.

Helga has golden blonde hair and honey-colored eyes. I like the headcanons about her that I see out there. A sweet and welcoming witch who never made any distinction as to the origin of her pupils. For her, having magic was all that mattered.

Godric was a brilliant fighter, the best in combat of the four, but he was hot-headed, often acting without thinking. He had blood red hair and ice blue eyes.

I like to think that at some point the four of them learned from the same Master, perhaps an apprenticeship in ritual/blood magic, the idea of teaching others came to their minds at different times. But it was only when they had already started a family and had children, with the constant increase in persecution of wizards, that they decided to get together and form Hogwarts.

Helga had 5 children who reached adulthood.

Godric never married, his younger brother took his place at the school after his death and it would be these descendants who would carry the Gryffindor title in the future.

For me, the four come from pure-blood families and nobility, at the time people without titles were not literate, I don't think that would have changed even if they were commoner wizards.

Hogwarts began construction in 982 and opened in 991.

ADDING MORE because I was running late to work earlier:

Twin PAGES would have been a very suitable subtitle for Bravely Default II given how strongly the theme of a 'book' there is in the game. In the end, the devs do mention somewhere in an interview that they decided not to use a subtitle as it would have been 'expected', and I think they thought people would have figured out the meaning behind it, and thus ruining some of the ending of the game. I do recall when End Layer first came out how many theories there were about Send Player being the subtitle, and thus the twist, due to the emphasis on SP during FTS/Second, so it's a valid concern.

There is a recurring 'book' theme in Bravely Default II - contains spoilers:

The UI/main menu looks very much like book pages - the devs actually mention (somewhere) that they received feedback from fans on said appearance after the first demo but ended up not changing it away from the book theme.

Elvis's motive for traveling with Gloria from the very beginning is to decipher the book that Emma left behind. He knows he needs Asterisks to do it, and they've just gotten two Asterisks for saving Gloria, so...

Said book ends up being the key to defeating the Night's Nexus and stopping the cycle.

The book is the Night's Nexus - her memories and her soul. Her last tie to the world.

It's called the Librarian Asterisk. Book-related again, even without its physical transformation.

It's up to the Player to help them overwrite the memories of the Night's Nexus.

Once it is empty, the Nexus is gone and the story ends. There's only one page left, which can be assumed to be your story.

Much of the background lore can be found in scattered books/journals that are left behind in each country sans Holograd.

The end credits imply that the entire story of the game takes place in that book, and since the start of the credits are erased from it, the story has come to its end.

The hidden scenes you get by defeating Adam in the prologue and Galahad during your first encounter both break the fourth wall. Edna mentions the 'outside world', likely the world outside of the book. Folie 'paints' over your victory, something she can only do with a physical medium.

Twin AGES (removing the Player and your ability to 'read' the book) shows that Excillant is doomed to repeat the cycles of the past without YOUR outside help. Gloria meets the same end as her grandfather Godric, both repeating the outcome of his era/age and the era of the Heroes of Light of their respective times.

It is essential to have the Player AND the pages within the book to defeat the Nexus.

Also this is just me being snarky but reading is important! The game doesn't hand feed you most of the lore with an info dump in Vampire Castle.

I do think they could have made the Player being a key figure a bit more obvious, but they also ran into issues because of Covid hitting during development; the BDBL team ended up having to help so they could meet their deadlines. (There's another interview that mentions they struggled at first to adapt to working from home.)

Also, since this was the first simultaneous release for Bravely Default, they didn't have a chance to make changes between the Japanese and Western releases, like the first two games had (especially Second with the large changes it underwent).

little known bravely default series facts

I noticed a couple of comments about the Bravely Series on Twitter last night that made me realize some folks didn't know some of what I consider common knowledge of the series (like why the ba'al theme wasn't on the Bravely Default soundtrack).

Contains spoilers for all three games. Also this got longer than I thought, thanks in advance if you make it to the end and find something you didn't know! I'm sure most of this seems obvious to long timefans.

Here is a compilation of what I know that may or may not be common knowledge to newcomers?

I had to split this into three parts because of Tumblr's character limit and I'm honestly too tired to fix the numbering so:

First part:

The version of Bravely Default that was received in the West is the second version of the original Bravely Default game, released in Japan in Dec 2013. This version, called "Bravely Default: For the Sequel" came with a massive (80ish) amount of improvements based on player feedback, such as: additional sidequests for the Asterisk Holders in later parts of the game, difficulty and encounter settings sliders, battle speed, redrawing the cities, and the Bravely Second mechanic itself.

This means some tie-ins to Bravely Second didn't exist with the first version - the Adventurer being green when you first encounter her, the end AR movie with Magnolia, the Ba'als and their theme. All this was added later.

The Japanese version does include different languages, including English, so if you can't understand Japanese you can still easily play this version of the game on a hacked or Japanese 3DS!

The first release in Oct 2012 was called "Bravely Default: Flying Fairy" and a lot of JP folks still use BDFF to refer to it.

While BDFTS and BD: Where the Fairy Flies (the Western release) are functionally identical, some changes between JP and West include but are not limited to:

Costumes were censored (such as the Vampire having a bodysuit under the belts and the Bravo Bikini)

The ages of Agnes, Tiz, Edea, Alternis and the Venus sisters was bumped up 3 years in their journal entries (or anyone whose age is written out instead of written as numerals).

Japan had merchandise that had codes for the extra costumes. The extra costumes made it into the Western version of the released game for in-game currency with the exception of Tiz's Dimensional Officer, Edea's Military Cadet, Agnes's Bravo Bunny, and Ringabel's Wakoku Warrior.

You can summon friends from Japanese versions and those costumes will be visible EXCEPT the Bravo Bunny is censored (the cut-out is covered) and Wakoku Warrior is replaced with Freelancer.

These codes expired after like 2 years.

There are 4 novels called "Pocketbook of R" (2 books) and "Pocketbook of R Second" (2 books). I'm including all the translation information I currently have.

Pocketbook of R is a first person journal from Ringabel in what is commonly dubbed "Infinity World" between the events of Bravely Default and Bravely Second.

Ellen translated the first book here (note that she did largely 'summary' translations as she hated the writing in the novel).

Bill translated most of the second book (page 70+) here. (Bill's native language is French and while I did some proofreading, there may be some clunkiness of translating from a third language into a fourth.)

Ellen started translating the third book here. This and the fourth book take place at the same time as Second, for the most part.

No solid English translations of the fourth book currently exist though I know the gist of it thanks to an older Tumblr fan who gave me the rundown. I'm sure RNT will make a video.

Second Part:

There are an additional 2 novels that are based on two of the spinoff games.

One is "Bravely Default - 200 years later" based on Praying Brage that was released in the Japanese Bravely Second collector's edition ONLY.

One is "Bravely Default Fairy's Effect - Rinne's Miracle" based on Fairy's Effect that was released as a standalone novel.

Very little information has been released about both. One day we'll have a summary/translation.

There are (currently) 4 spinoff games, all currently shut down.

Praying Brage (Nov 2012 - Apr 2017) was a browser game and was based on the premise of Edea going 200 years into the future to save Agnes. RedNovaTyrant has a great video on it here!

Bravely Archive: D's Report (Jan 2015 - Oct 2017) was a mobile game that centered around an alternate/future Luxendarc with crystal memories and a new main character who is revealed to be Deneb

It released in Australia for about 6 months in 2018

Bravely Archive Fairy's Effect (Mar 2017 - Aug 2020) was a mobile game released after Bravely Second that took place simultaneously 8000 years in the future and between the events of Bravely Default 1 and Bravely Second. There's a lot of lore for both games in FE that can be seen in various videos on the internet (such as info on the Kaiser/Glanz Empire and Agnes's transition into Pope, Ominas having a role in saving Mahzer and the newborn Edea from Eternia during Braev's coup), but Bill translated some of the remaining website summary here.

Bravely Default Brilliant Lights (Jan 2022 - Feb 2023) was a crossover mobile game in a new world that combined Luxendarc and Excillant characters and setting. It lasted 13 months and I archived as much video as I could on Youtube but as of now, first person "reports" can be found here that summarize each board of each story.

It explains why "First Born" Ba'al was a thing in Bravely Second.

An 'offline' version was released but pulled from the app stores in July 2023.

There are 2 audio dramas for the first game!

First one is called "Festival of Reunion" and a translation of all four tracks can be found here.

Second one is called something like "Bracelets of Eternity" and so far no English translation seems to exist (though I know the gist of the first track).

The Ba'al theme was released with the first audio drama.

There's a Luxendarc / Linked Horizons concert that took place in Japan in 2013, you can find video of it on Youtube and Amazon Prime Video, and they released music CDs specific to it.

Square released an X-mas Collections Music CD that has wintery remixes of some of the Bravely Default music.

There is a Bravely Default 4 volume manga that's a retelling of the first game. Red made a video about it here. You can find scans online and most of the translations were done by Ellen.

There is also a manga anthology that serves to tie together Bravely Default and Bravely Second (released around the same time as Second, if not earlier). Red also made a video about it here. Ellen scanslated the third story in the anthology, I reuploaded it here after her imgur account got nuked.

Bravely Second was changed between the JP and Western releases based on feedback from Japanese players:

Sidequests were streamlined so that players could get a "good ending" based on their decision even if they chose the opposite Asterisk after the time reset

The Black Mage/ Ranger sidequest had its endings completely rewritten, as the Japanese version ends with either Bahamut being eaten or the wounded NPC dying depending on who you sided with.

Some costumes that were DLC were added to be bought with in-game currency (same as Default)

Fort Lune was made more easily available instead of being locked behind a SE Member account (along with some other things like costumes).

Some of the writing was tweaked as there were complaints about the memey/modern references/references to other media like Dragonball.

Aimee/Hawkeye costume was changed (there was also minor censoring of other costumes, like adding a bra to Ranger for Magnolia).

The fox companion was moved to different locations instead of sitting next to the Adventurer, lessening some complaints of "mood whiplash" between tent scenes and serious story events.

Some JP preorder-exclusive weapons were excluded (as far as I can tell, some weapons were just very hard to get).

The controversial apology for Bravely Second was in regard to the large amount of negative feedback the team received from the JP fans in regard to Second (though some Western fans also had a lot of negative things to say, it was largely only because of the costume censorship to the point at least one mod was released).

Third Part:

Magnolia and Pope!Agnes had large plushie prototypes made of them that were never released.

2 types of large Edea plushies were released, one with closed eyes and one with open eyes.

Only 200 of the open-eyed Edeas were made/released but now there apparently there's only 199 in existence because I tried to buy one and the seller told me she was damaged in by a wild animal getting into the warehouse, rip Edea...

Large plushies were released of Edea, Ringabel, Agnes, and Tiz based on their Default appearance. Tiz's plush had an unfortunate hair style in the prototype that they changed in the final version. Images of this bowl cut have been lost forever.

Gloria got a smaller plushie that's in the JP SE Store.

A set of even smaller Default 1 cast plushies, among other things, are in the 10th anniversary set.

The European Collector's Edition of Bravely Default Where the Fairy Flies included this unfortunate figure of Agnes.

The Bravely Second artbook has three versions:

Original Japanese version, scans of it exist online

Bravely Second (Western) collectors edition version, which removed several images - sketches/concept art of Agnes tied up in the ribbon and a couple of images of Geist as well. This version had translated captions but any text on the images was not translated.

The fully English translated version which also restores the images removed from the CE.

Sales data has indicated that the Bravely Series reached 3 mil in Nov 2021. No word on 4 mil or 5 mil, but maybe we'll find out this year?

Bravely Default 1 (all versions) hit 1 million in July 2014 (21 months from initial BDFF release)

Bravely Second (all versions) hit 700k in April 2017 (2 years from BSEL release)

Pop-up Parade figurines of the main four were released in 2023 for the 10th anniversary of Bravely Default.

Bravely Default II had two demos, the first one specifically made difficult to get feedback from the fans. They implemented some feedback to change the final version of the game (but not everything). This was the first time they have asked for feedback from the West instead of just Japan.

Team Asano has released Lunar New Year art every year except 2016 with Bravely characters and the zodiac animal

They do Christmas cards every year, and it seems that this year they included a special card for a special fan with an extra character in the dragon art. If you know you know.

I'm sure there's a lot more I'm forgetting, and this isn't even including the Bravely Default original concepts that were revealed in a booklet in the 10th anniversary exhibitions.

11. Barefoot

Harry'd never seen Draco with a single hair, a single button out of place.

It was fucking hot, if Harry was being honest, which why wouldn't he be? At least in the privacy of his own head.

Draco was always posh, always pristine; tailored robes and tailored suits, shoes always shined, platinum hair in a perfectly coiffed undercut. It drove Harry wild; desperate to muss him up a bit.

And nothing. Absolutely nothing could have prepared him for what he was currently seeing.

Draco Malfoy was standing by the pool, a strand of (silky, soft) hair hanging over his eye, shirt unbuttoned halfway down his (ridiculously toned) chest, his linen trousers rolled up to expose his (unfairly delicate) ankles. And he was barefoot.

Godric. Harry didn't have a thing for feet but something about seeing Draco's made him want to fall to the ground at his feet and never move. They were very pretty, honestly; delicate, long, slender, with graceful high arches. And it made him look strangely vulnerable.

Harry ached with it.

"Potter," Draco said, long fingers snapping at him.

His eyes snapped up to Draco's face to find the other man smiling at him in that peculiar way he did sometimes. All exasperated fondness, eyes crinkling at the corners. "Mmm?" he managed inelegantly.

"How drunk are you? It's like you were staring through me into all of time and space," he chuckled as he planted himself beside Harry on the edge of the pool and dipped his feet into the water.

"Very," Harry lied because he couldn't very well admit that he'd just been staring longingly at Draco's feet.

Draco tilted his head toward the drink in Harry's hand, "What do you spike sparkling water with?"

Harry blinked over at him, he always forgot how bloody observant the other man was. "Vodka," he lied quickly.

The corner of Draco's mouth curved up and he took a breath but then seemed to think better of it. "Everyone's around the fire pit," he commented.

"Yes," he agreed.

"Except you."

He hummed, not sure what response Draco was looking for from him.

"And me," he added.

Harry turned his head so he could look at him properly.

"Are you actually drunk, Harry?"

He swallowed, wondering what his answer should be, wondering what Draco wanted him to say. "Why?" is what came out of his mouth a few seconds later.

"Because you're even more forthcoming when you're drunk than usual."

It was his turn to smile at the other man, "What are you hoping I'll say?"

Draco stared at him for a long moment before wrapping his lips around the mouth of his beer bottle and finishing it in one long pull.

He couldn't help but watch the way his neck muscles worked as he swallowed, Adam's apple bobbing. The urge to lean in, to lick, to suck, to nibble on the other man's long neck was almost overpowering.

Then, when he'd finished his beer he stood up and Harry shifted back on his hands so he could see what he was doing.

Draco's fingers went to the buttons on his shirt and Harry's mouth went dry, his own fingers tingling with desire. He made quick work of them before pulling his shirt off, and Harry was met with the sight of a lightly muscled chest, and two petal pink nipples. Harry's mouth had dropped open but he didn't really think there was anything he could possibly do to stop it.

When he finally managed to draw his eyes upward, Draco was smirking at him, one eyebrow raised. "I'm going to go for a swim," he said, and his hands moved to his trousers, unbuttoning and unzipping before hooking his thumbs in the waistband and pulling them off. He stood there for one moment, in nothing but a pair of very tight boxers that left little to the imagination, before saying, "join me?" and jumping into the pool.

Harry sat there stunned, uncertain if he was hallucinating (it wouldn't be the first time he'd accidentally eaten a hallucinogen at Luna's), and feeling like he must be losing his entire mind.

But what a way to go, he couldn't help but think as Draco resurfaced and finger combed his hair back out of his eyes. He watched as a drop of water rolled down his high cheek bone, then down his neck, sluicing along his clavicle, before dripping into the pool. He tread water and stared at Harry, waiting.

"Are you serious?" he asked.

A look of hurt flashed in his eyes before he covered it, so quickly that if Harry hadn't spent decades of his life watching Draco, he would have missed it.

"I mean," he swallowed, might as well at this point, "you're not just fucking with me?"

"How would this be fucking with you?" Draco asked, spreading his arms wide.

He pulled his shirt off over his head and stood to yank down his shorts before jumping in after Draco. When he popped his head back above the water, Draco was only a few feet away, watching him with a little smile at the corner of his mouth. "You should know," he said conversationally, "that I am not a terribly good swimmer."

Draco was at his side a heartbeat later, hands bracketing Harry's ribs as he buoyed him to the surface a bit, treading and keeping himself afloat with only his legs. "I'm a very good swimmer," he murmured, his voice low and a bit rough.

"Tell me why we're swimming together," he blurted.

"Isn't it obvious?" he asked, head tilting to the side like he was really trying to understand the puzzle that Harry was.

"Not to me," he replied.

Draco re-angled his body a bit and pushed Harry backward, swimming until Harry's back hit the side of the pool and then pressing their bodies together. "Luna had a drink," he said.

Harry, whose head was very much elsewhere, attempting to catalogue the hard planes of Draco's body pressed against his own, made a vague "Oh?" sound.

He nodded, "Had a bit of felix in it, apparently."

"And-" Harry started, his heart pounding in his chest as he waited for Draco to continue.

"It led me to you," he murmured. "And honestly?"

He nodded, trying not to let his mind race to improbable conclusions.

"I've fancied you for ages."

"You have?" he blurted, looking between Draco's eyes, trying to discern any semblance of an untruth.

"I have," he murmured, bending forward so that his lips brushed over Harry's jaw. "The only question is whether you feel the same."

"How is that a question?" he asked, tipping his head back to allow Draco's mouth to brush tantalizingly over his skin. "Of course I do."

"Do you?" he asked, voice just a little afraid, "or is it the alcohol?"

"I'm not drunk," he said, cupping Draco's cheek and drawing him back far enough that they could look at each other. "I had one beer, two hours ago."

"So it wouldn't be taking advantage if I kissed you?"

Harry didn't think, didn't say another word, he just wrapped his arms around Draco's neck and pulled him in closer so their lips could touch.

The other man's body surged against his, kissing him deep and slow in a way that made Harry feel like he was floating through the universe, the only thing tethering him was the hard wall of the pool against his back.

Merlin only knew how long they might have gone on kissing if it weren't for the sound of merrymakers coming up from the fire pit. But as it was, Draco pulled back and said, "I really don't particularly want to see anyone else."

"Me either," he replied, glancing over his shoulder.

"Come back to mine?" he offered. "We don't have to-"

He leaned in and kissed him again, giddy with the possibility of more time together, of more kisses. "Yes," he murmured against Draco's lips. "Let's just figure out the rest once we get there."

"You're sure?"

Harry laughed, "I've never been more sure of anything in my life.

And it wasn't until the sun was peaking through the blinds in Draco's living room the next morning that either of them remembered they'd left their clothes lying on the deck by the pool.

I don't think they said specifically why they split. It's something I want to explore! I've been watching again (on season 5), and I'm only on the 2nd book rn. So I can try to learn more about Eric. But the books are all sookie's pov right? so I don't know how much will be talked about and what all goes down.

I like the way they flipped godric though, and he's got a little lore that wasn't talked about in the show, I think it was on dvd extras or something.

Lilith was the very first vampire and it said Adam and Eve were created to feed her. So she's 8,000? I don't know when the bible stuff claims the world was created exactly. Godric was made in i think 1BC so he's about 2,000 when he dies. I'm a little (a lot) bad at history, but the lore says Caesar's men captured Godric and kept him as a slave then he was turned. I don't know if those years line up with real history ***

In the books Eric's maker is someone else entirely. But as I've said before I've only been here in this fandom for a pretty short time so I'll gladly accept any info I might not know yet about Eric and Godric, or any of the lore in general

But don't shut up though lol, talking about it just gives me more fuel

If I recall correctly, Godric was abused and raped by his captors then turned when he was 16, then abused by his maker for 300 years after that. He killed his maker then lived alone until he found Eric and turned him.

In the books though he is the one who abused children and killed many innocents
