the dead family member was the one who taught her music and the only one who was kind to her.

there’s always an expectation from her family to perform well and to keep up appearances as to not be a humiliation since anything she does can reflect on her entire family. (also hi, slight yuusha/jamil parallels maybe???)

the way she presents herself also stemmed from an incident as a child when she went apeshit on another kid bc she was defending a friend.

so from then on she was taught taught to conceal don’t feel those emotions — which just unfortunately extended to any positive ones, not just negative ones like rage.

so when she is brought to twst, there’s no memory of her being forced to hold back her emotions so she’s just unapologetically affectionate and open with everyone bc that’s how she really is.

Having so much fun with sb ruin, we haven't run into ANY major glitches never mind game breaking ones, and we've just done the new daycare section. Spoilers if you haven't got that far and want to play it, but I had some thoughts about Eclipse.

Now eclipse is something that's been in the fandom for a while, I think before even the balloon boy game was found, but it's never really been canon? I don't think the name ever appeared in game, but previously the only depiction of some secret third personality in the daycare attendant was the strange purple glitch in the minigame that revealed a red black glowing sun face with red eyes. It was all very threatening and spooky, and you are in a horror game after all (supposedly), so of course people imagined eclipse to be some ultra terrifying final line of defence for the daycare or the pizzaplex as a whole. Tall. Aggressive. Clever. Comes with a whole colour change to match, the way sun and moon do.

But ruin showed a completely different Eclipse! He (they? It?) was clear of mind (mostly, he was convinced the plex was running as normal), kind, and safe! He even gently dropped cassie off outside the play area! Even sun in sb physically threw us out in fury lmao. His eyes glowed different colours, his ARMS glowed different colours (that would have been so cool in sb), he had the rays and cap at the same time!

But why? What reason was eclipse programmed? In the daycare, there wouldn't have been any reason for him.

Well, there's the theory that sun and moon weren't originally created for the daycare, at least not solely. Instead, it's highly possible that they were made for the theatre next door.

Why? Well, for one, their design. Sun and moon are dressed like jesters, with bright colours and stripes, baggy trousers, curled toe slippers, and bells and ribbons on every limb. They bob and move in a way designed to jingle, with very long and articulate joints, even their head has a huge range of motion compared to the other animatronics. In fact, pretty much everything BUT their face is very expressive. It's as if they were designed to be seen at a distance. Exposed wires on the back of their head too, something none of the other animatronics have (being grabbed and hugged and climbed by kids all day, that's dangerous! To both them and the animatronics!)

The theatre, too, is designed and fitted for live performances. Though it is mostly a movie theatre now with a giant screen, there was still that badly programmed staff bot comedian (both in the game setting and its actual coding lmao) and the entire backstage area with dressing rooms, abandoned set pieces and undressed endos. The sun and moon faces are the theatre masks of joy and sorrow at its entrance. It's very likely sun and moon were originally intended to be the main actors, playing both villain and hero roles and saving the company a LOT of money in the long run, not paying for lead actors every day.

So what does this have to do with eclipse?

In the daycare, his presence makes little sense, but as a theatre performer, it would have been invaluable. Instead of making the character unbalanced in one direction, eclipse could have served as narrator, ringmaster, ambassador, he would have been the one bowing after a show, the one talking to parents, handing out flyers and merch, all the stuff you need to front that kind of show.

For one, it puts sun and moon on equal levels as all their marketing does, rather than sun being pretty much the sole worker. It allows them to act and be seen as two parts of a whole, rather than sun (and his evil counterpart). Eclipse is unbothered by changes in light, moving from the bright spotlights that crippled moon into total darkness that overrode dun in sb. From a production standpoint, eclipse is ideal to work with, the best parts of sun and moon.

But why sell one lot of merch when you could sell two? Make it a set?

And when they were repurposed to the daycare attendant, there wasn't much use for a third personality at all. Maybe behind the curtains, down in parts and services, maybe some niche situations. But without merch, without need, with the animatronic still in use, common knowledge of the eclipse program dissipated like mist.

All except for sun and moon and one broken arcade machine.

I’d love to see people get creative to what they think Ice represents and how they contribute to Sornieth’s systems, cultures, and dragons as a whole.

I see ice flight specializing in stuff like collection and cataloguing as iirc before the map update it said those were things Ice Flight likes. I think where Earth is Uncovering What Was, Ice is about Preserving What Is.

They’re not entirely just cops (and even then stripping them to just the role of "cop" is a bad take). They’re also researchers of the things they fear, and of relics that need studying. In my head Ice would probably have the best museums, archives, and storage houses. What better way to preserve or trap something than in ice?

They’re a flight of Order, not so much in the sense of cops and law but a flight that bulks when there’s a sense of disorder or chaos, disorganization, and imperfection. If it’s uncategorized, unsorted, then it needs to be so in order to be learned. Where Lightning is stats and progression, Ice is pattern recognition (Tundra’s memory being linked to their smell may also reflect this) and tradition (Gaolers role system and lack of awareness about the state of Sornieth and not just the Ice Fields).

This can be extended then into interests, individual home cultures, businesses and what not. Why not start a collection of rocks? Or insects? They’d know best how to preserve it. Need something specific from the shop? Probably very easy to find if you know the qualities and traits you’re looking for. Need something preserved for safe keeping? They’ll do that, and they’ll do it awfully well. Perfectly. The systems have to be perfect. The line up has to be perfect and up-kept and looked after intensely— possibly so intense it’s evolving into passion. There can certainly be a sense of pride.

Combine with the lore that Ice is typically more hostile to outsiders due to their melting home I can see them being much more traditional and closed off. Not quite isolated, but having a more unique culture that’s a little more closed off from others and not quite as shared, trying to preserve what is left of their home and traditions.

What about urban legends and superstition? They’re guarding creatures and horrors in those prisons, surely the local resident dragons have folklore over that? What about fishing and hunting, two very popular ways to get food or supplies in climates like these? Where are the ice fisherman skins or hunters bound in furs? What about the fauna or flora found in the region we can probably make skins for that too.

Existential horror can also be fun; remember, relatively recently Gaolers learned that Sornieth has changed. Dragons of other flights have other magic not native to their elements and in addition the age old threat of Shade that seems to be making new problems for new times.

We have a flight literally dealing first hand with monsters and horrors existing already on the planet and in its own prisons and fighting against it, yet people relegate that to Arcane. 😔 Unlike Arcane, the unknown is already here in Ice.

You could easily take inspiration from the movie The Thing, too. It writes itself ngl.

Theres much to do and think about with Ice when you remember this is a region with its own people and culture and not just an aesthetic, and I’d like to see it dabbled in more. Even if it’s just headcanon, you can make it into a skin. That’s what people have done with Light with the whole angelic themes, so why not take creative spins on ice too?

The very idea of being an alcoholic before you even become of age is wild to him. Like he wouldn't believe it if he wasn't seeing you drunk out of your mind and laying face down on the floor.

First off, you're going to the hospital/the infirmary because he will just assume you have alcohol poisoning and insist you need your stomach pumped.

Yells. By the SEVEN, he yells. Doesn't understand why you'd drink or why drinking was even an option. His mother's claims of sugar being poison aside, alcohol is just literal poison.

Becomes your personal AA sponsor via the most adorable homicidal pout if he smells even the inkling of alcohol near you. Very firm on making you quit cold turkey, but very supportive when the negative feelings become too much. Convinces you to join him for a bit in the equestrian club to spend time with Vorpal.

Ruggie

He's had a few drinks himself, but he's not on the level of an alcoholic. When he first found you drinking he managed to sweet talk his way into sharing the bottle with you.

Then you got properly drunk and all of the feelings started coming out and he realized 'Oh shit, you're like one of those drinkers..' He's had his fair share of run-ins with drunks in his time, and he's firm on the worst ones being the sad ones.

Even buzzed, he manages some sleight of hand to switch the alcohol with water. And if you notice, no you don't, you're drunk anyway. Hey, he's hungry let's go get some snacks from Sam's.

Unless it turns life-threatening, I don't think he'd ever try to curb the behavior. He's used to it and you couldn't make me believe he's never taken care of a drunk Leona more times he can count. He can at least cuddle with you once he's got you hydrated and tucked into bed.

Azul

Didn't know what was wrong with you at first. But once he smells the alcohol, he connects the dots easily. Is confused on how to proceed before going 'Wait, I can use this'.

Congrats! You've become a taste tester for the lounge's selection of alcohol. You now meet with him in his office to sample new liquors and give feedback. Getting to drink is now your job.

It's rough going at the start because you start off doing what you always did, drinking to numb the pain. Getting so drunk that you can't do the questionnaires that Azul asks you to fill out for each booze you try. And he guilts you about that, showing your drunk self that little pout and pitiful face saying he guesses he will find help elsewhere if this task is too much. He's sorry, he should have known better.

You slowly start to drink less. Because one, Azul buys very high-end things for the lounge, the common beers and vodkas you were able to get alone won't compare to the brands he stocks. And two, now every time you drink, you take notice of the notes, or every little flavor profile and it makes you slow down.

Jade

He'd play bartender so fast it's almost insulting. He manages to corral your drunk self into the lounge and toward the bar so he can dazzle you with all of the tricks he and Floyd have been learning for fun.

Jade would find you drunk fascinating. Like he isn't at all times looking at people like they're in a petri dish. Half the time he's just listening to you ramble with his little smile and cleaning the same glass for 40 minutes.

Realizing why you drink does sour the event for him. He cares, he does. Having you drink only in moments of despair isn't as fun to watch as he was hoping. So his bartending angle takes on a more caring side to it. Another who will start slipping you water and snacks when he thinks you've had enough.

He'd condition you to come to him for drinks. Making you the best cocktail you've ever had to the point that straight alcohol is unpleasant now. If he controls the amount of alcohol and when you get it, you slowly start to drink less. It also helps that you do talk to him while he plays bartender.

Floyd

In my heart, Floyd greatly dislikes alcohol. Hates the smell, hates the taste, he has no idea why anyone would drink it. It's just a completely awful experience all around. So him finding out you're a drunk is complicated.

He smells it before he even finds you. Caught your scent and noticed the alcohol smell second. When he found you in a puddle of your own saddness it kind of ticked him off a little. But he'd gather you up, leaving the bottle behind and now you two are gonna spend the day together.

He is sad when he learns you drink to numb the pain. But he also just can't fathom liking the taste of alcohol, and if you don't, why are you drinking it?

Another who makes you quit cold turkey but not on purpose. Floyd will just remove the alcohol from your presence if he smells it because it puts him in such a bad mood. Is actually really good at finding ways to ease your impulse to drink by spending time with him.

Kalim

He's a little lightweight and a social drinker. So if he found you drunk, he'd sit and have a drink with you. Now he's had a single glass, and he's off his ass drunk with you.

He gets even more talkative when drunk, which gets you talking, and now you're drunk rambling about how everything is hopeless and how you feel so alone and that nothing will ever get better-

He's crying, bawling, his empathy is turned up to 20. Kalim instantly gathers you up in his arms in an effort to protect you from all of the dark thoughts. It's honestly so moving that you start crying too. And that's how Jamil finds you both.

Kalim always wants to share a drink with you. He believes you won't be so sad if you drink with someone you care about, no matter the reason you're drinking. This actually manages to curb your drinking, if only to help Kalim not die of liver failure.

Jamil

If Jamil found you drunk, may the lord have mercy on you. He's pretty quiet, but that's the worst part. He instantly can tell the type of alcoholic you are and he gives no verbal judgment. but they way he's LOOKING.

He'd take the bottle from you instantly and start getting you prepped for bed. Makes you drink a glass of water, eat a sleeve of crackers with cheese. Tucks you into bed on your side and a waste basket right at the edge of the bed.

Now that he knows, he really starts watching you and can even learn the triggers that drive you to drink. If he can't stop you in time and he finds you halfway through a bottle, he'll gather you up and take you to Scarabia.

Honestly, I do feel like he could shame you into not drinking. It'd just be the look he gets once he finds you a mess and surrounded by bottles. You know how hard he has it, why are you adding to his load by being another mess he has to take care of? Jokes on you though. While he hates the fact you drink, he doesn't mind making sure you're safe and tucked into a bed before he goes to sleep himself.

Silver

He is Fae-raised, he's been drinking wine since he was a child and it's just juice to him now. So when he saw you drinking hard liquor for humans, he just assumed it was something similar from where you came from. Only he realizes it's not when he finds you drunk and sobbing into the bottle.

So soft and gentle, takes the bottle out of your hands and makes you drink water instead. Sits and talks with you fighting sleep the whole time. He wants to know why you drink so he can help find a solution. Drinking so heavily is not good for your health.

Starts hanging around more often, trying to keep anything that could trigger your need to drink at bay or offer other options. Has the brilliant idea of letting you try heavily diluted Fae wine honestly. It knocks you on your ass, one little sip and you are passed out.

You now carry a bottle of water with a teaspoon of Fae wine mixed into it. The alcoholism is not fixed but at the very least you no longer have to worry about liver or kidney failure. You and Silver now sit in the woods, him snoozing lightly and you're buzzed off of two sips of fruit-flavored water.

Oh man this chapter was hilarious, I laughed so much! But it's also filled with political details and dare I say a setup for future plots and (much needed) character development 👀

Starting off with the confirmation that Ostania is indeed a nationalist country

This is also the first time that an outsider seems to view The Punch as something positive, as though Anya is standing up to right-wing extremism (which would actually be super cool ngl)

All the comedy aside, this is the first child character who's actually aware of politics and international relations. It makes sense that a prince has to keenly study politics and diplomacy, most of his thoughts are about his country and which repercussions his interactions in Eden could have on the grand scheme of things. This kid literally breathes politics, everything from his mannerisms, expressions and thoughts is deeply embedded in his political upbringing. That's quite a burden for a 6 year old kid...

Now let's talk about how this will affect my favourite brat hahaha

They are literal opposites in everything, but I find it interesting how the prince is basically a subversion of Damian (and could probably bring out the worst in him)

Damian thinks he's hot shit because of his father and acts as though he's royalty, but he's maybe a noble at best. He calls everyone who doesn't share his status a peasant and looks down on them. His expressions are brash and very rude and he has gotten reprimanded for it before. He aspires to become a politician, yet he lacks every single skill for that. However he's also courageous when it does matter.

The prince on the other hand is obviously of royal descent, but he's not arrogant at all. In fact, he's just scared of international scandal and a coward. He's humble and eager to befriend his Ostanian classmates and doesn't care if they're "peasants". He has actual diplomatic skills that he applies all the time. He's honest and straightforward in his thoughts and doesn't feel ashamed to openly befriend Anya, even going as far as suggesting that he should visit her home

I can also see him subtly and passive-aggressively make digs at Damian. There seems to be a suggestion that his kingdom is either politically centrist and/or left-leaning and Damian might incorporate everything that prince hates. He would also get away with provoking Damian because he's already mastered diplomacy (for a 6 yo lol) which could ultimately lead to Damian embarrassing himself in front of everyone (and maybe even earn a tonitrus that he kinda deserves ngl). Unlike prince, Damian is impulsive, emotional and just starts to scream at everyone around him. He doesn't know what composure is.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if most of their classmates will start to distance themselves from Damian and no longer put him on a pedestal. Why should they when there's a literal prince among them who treats everyone with respect and is always eloquent, even when he's internally freaking out.

All of this will hopefully trigger Damian's long-overdue character development. The clash with prince is inevitable either way, especially because Anya is involved. Yes I want to see jealous Damian, but I also want him to grow up a little and realize that he's not that important, he shouldn't treat others as beneath him and most importantly he should realize that he knows nothing. He doesn't know what actually makes a great leader and politician. He doesn't know how Ostania and his father are viewed internationally. He's not aware how his actions could actually bear political consequences.

I do hope he will befriend prince in the end though, he could learn many things from him. Only in Eden do international relations form during elementary school lmao

It's a nice headcanon! Though I'm half sure it'd be against canon (au where everything's the same but ink blushes brown if super flustered??) since Ink's super deep blush instead implies his rainbow freckles appearing!! Silly thing i love him. Brown blush would look very cute on him though, he'd look so monochrome/aff

— also I believe Ink's rainbow theme is very. Prism based, from what I've seen? A ray of white light passing through a prism disperses into 7 rays of color and all that. If the experiment is done in like, the. Inverse? Way? The rainbow turns into white. So in theory I believe it'd make more sense if Ink's super blush was white instead. Though I assume Ink's magic doesn't overlap, there's a reason why his tongue and blush is sectioned. Maybe different creators' emotions cannot be mixed??? Evil stuff—

Nightmare would like it way too much I think; both because Ink just never gets flustered enough to really see him that affected (he really likes to see proof that his efforts are doing something) and because he'd feel smug at the knowledge that he finally has the upper hand for once. This being said, the first time he' see it he'd probably tease Ink about it so much Ink just gets away from him by AU jumping because they'd get salty. A proper response, of course (he needs to learn limits!)

Second time is better. But his smile is still very much smug so Ink still gets salty. By the third time Ink would stop running away and let his destiny finally happen (unskippable romance scene)

Tbh I just think Ink is very skittish once he gets embarrassed enough, specially since shame isn't a very common thing for him to feel. He'd have no resistance to the emotion at all, so he'd be so obviously embarrassed you couldn't miss it. I imagine you could force embarrassment from him by having him drink too much from the purple (my hc color for his fear/shame) but it'd be just so mixed with fear it wouldn't be enjoyable for anyone involved ngl.

I also imagine Ink with like, a light level of embarrassment? Would play along if they're making fun of him. He fakes getting more embarrassed if they're poking fun at him, but he gets more snappy if he actually does (if he has available red, of course)

Anyways. I think the first time™ went kinda like this?? Maybe??? I can't get Ink's voice right but assume it's the purple talking

i’m ngl, i’m a big dnd nerd that was running out of high fantasy content to consume and then i stumbled upon your beloved comic. i just wanted to ask what your favorite worldbuilding decision is for utg and if you could pick dnd classes for any (all) of the characters, what they would be 👀

There's two major world things that I'm really happy with and helped a bunch of things click into place I think

One has to do with the magic system, or rather how magic works in that world on a sort of... molecular level? People who've seen me do worldbuilding for a while know I'm cheeky about deriving stuff from physics and loosely drawing parallels here and there, and for the under garden I ended up making it so that a lot of magic runs on wave function interference. Kinda. So the "natural" state of things has its own wave frequencies and magic comes from unnatural frequencies being added into the mix causing shit to go weird

By extension deciding this also made it easier to understand why or how some things can detect magic (they'd pick up on the weird frequencies) AND how it's possible to have magic blocking devices (they emit destructive frequencies that nullify it). Does it fully make sense on a physical level? Not necessarily but I get giddy when I can visualise magic mechanics like this hehe

The other decision was to simplify our lineup of humanoid species from the original DnD esque basis, but in a way that allows us to have basically any humanoid appearance you can think of through a ✨mutation✨ cheatcode. We have two "elf" subspecies (basically the dark elf-like ppl and everyone else, including "dwarf" looking folk, etc) and then a species that technically derives from them (and they're all genetically compatible) that's characterised by having abnormal, often insect-like traits. There's no real limit to their phenotypes since their origin is magical and random in nature, and since they can mix with "normal" elves the degree of bugness varies.

Which means i can have insect people, reptile people, horns or hooves or tails or wings galore without needing to come up with a full background for each of these variants >:)c

ANYHOO sorry I get carried away rambling about these things. Class-wise, I only have claims for some characters who... may be yet to make a full appearance in the comic, and would actually fight:

^ Monk??? Not my first claim but after playing an actual monk the ki system started making a lot of sense

^ Lil' sorcerer u_u probably with a subclass or two but sorcerer would hold up as he grows older

^ I think warlock would work for her well enough. Not a perfect fit but I can see it with some homebrew tweaking

^ Ranger makes sense I feel, she becomes one with the avalanches

^ Barbarian.... barbarian/druid???? Uncharted territory here

^ Warlock but you haven't seen much of it yet.... soon.... (I'm actually so excited for her)

moon in the 12th house synastry can feel like this soulmate, otherworldly bond, where you can read each others minds. however, it sometimes can result in the house person not being appreciative of the moon, not recognizing the efforts they make to help them feel good and feeling their feelings on such a deep level.

underdeveloped cancer suns can be so annoying😭 one thing i’ve noticed about them is that they looove to exaggerate the things they’ve done for you, it’s like they just NEED the praise for “sacrificing themselves”. they also tend to tell stories in a way that just makes you doubt if it actually happened the way that they’re portraying it.

saturn square mars people can suffer from low energy levels, sometimes they just cannot physically bring themselves to do something. however, if they eventually start, there’s no way of stopping them.

mercury conjunct mars people can effortlessly hurt you with their words, it’s no joke. they also tend to have some strong opinions. my mum has this and let’s just say that i avoid certain topics when talking to her😬

moon in taurus folks are such good cooks, i swear. it’s their love language, too. they don’t mind cooking for you and making your favourite dish is their way to your heart. they are really talented at it and it relaxes them.

they also tend to have extremely good sense of smell which is kinda impressive ngl. they are picky about certain scents.

someone i know has venus in gemini and he told me that he has actually broken up with a couple of girls in the past because their conversations were dull and they couldn’t keep up with him mentally.

another thing about this placement is that gemini venuses/risings are great at wordplay. it’s like their minds are always active, constantly seeking to make a brilliant joke.

mars in cancer men get turned on by their partner being turned on. they love to give pleasure.

8th house synastry can actually become so uncomfortable. people oftentimes talk about how deep and transforming it is, but if neither of people involved want to deepen the relationship, you will just be left with this aggressive awkwardness.

mercury square ascendant people often have specific mannerisms when they talk. i also kinda feel bad for them, as people tend to focus on how they speak, not on what they’re saying. it’s like they have very interesting thoughts but they cannot present them in an appealing way to the people that they don’t really know that well.

AAAAAA TY!!! I'm so glad that you're seeing the appeal for Trey he really is an underrated character!! I got that eldest daughter syndrome and Trey as a character feeds into that ngl.

I also had a crush on Peeta from The Hunger Games when I was a kid and I was remembering a bit where it was pointed out that as a baker, Peeta was actually hella strong (he could toss 100 lbs flour bags over his shoulder), so it would only make sense to me that Trey would be similar.

I image he would have a bit more of a sleeper build, so it's not obvious how strong he is until he's actually doing something physical (like fucking me—). None of the sprites do him justice in that regard, but this very specific panel from the manga does do things to me:

Think of an old married couple where one of them will casually drop a compliment like it's the most natural thing in the world. That's how Trey is, and he doesn't even realize it! It's very sweet, and it's very easy to fall for of course!
