we don't talk enough abt akutagawa's cough / lung disease (chronic&terminal) yet it has so much angst potential?? anywayy

after the current arc, atsushi knows akutagawa is actively dying and he's the only one who does bc akutagawa didn't tell anyone else abt it. (altho, in all honesty, the amount this man coughs should at least hint at it. i'm honestly amazed not more ppl in the story are concerned abt it)

so, the next mission they have together, akutagawa coughs and atsushi is now aware what it really means, so he wonders out loud with nonchalance masking his concern: "hey, so like, do you think yosano's ability would help with your cough and all? would it go away then?"

akutagawa, wiping his mouth, slightly annoyed: "how would i now? i'm not well-acquainted with your coworkers, weretiger, therefore it's none of my concern. and even then, i wouldn't trust any ada members with my issues, nor my life."

atsushi finds his words a bit sus bc 'u do trust me tho', but doesn't say it out loud and they leave it at that.

somehow, it becomes a regular thing. every time they have a mission together and atsushi hears his partner cough, he presents more ideas of how they could cure a terminal lung disease, and they vary in absurdity as he runs out of inspiration.

his ideas range from mere "have you tried going to a doctor?" (<- at which akutagawa stares in disbelief: "you either think i'm an idiot, or you are the idiot. which one is it?" and atsushi pouts bc 'ok yeah, fair... but also, rude') to insanities like "maybe witchcraft would help! i could look up witches in the area and see if black magic or something has any luck." (<- at which akutagawa is so done he doesn't even entertain the idea and just keeps walking)

they never follow through with any idea tho, bc akutagawa stubbornly refuses to waste time on trying to find a cure when his time on earth already is very limited.

it should also be noted that each time the cough gets worse; louder, rougher, more persistent and even bloody, which only makes atsushi more and more worried.

so one time, akutagawa's particularly annoyed by atsushi's insane and stupid ideas. he turns to him and point-blank asks: "why do even care so much whether i succumb to my illness or not? surely, my death should only leave you overjoyed to see the world be rid of one more evil."

that makes atsushi think bc 'why? why does he care whether akutagawa lives or dies? he's right, a bad person like a mafioso dying should be a good thing.'

after lengthy contemplation he comes to the conclusion that he simply cannot have his sworn enemy/rival/partner die from something as pathetic as a disease. someone as strong as akutagawa has to die in a more memorable way - not alone, in a bed, coughing, with nothing more to be remembered by. if anything he'd have to die fighting atsushi or something. yeah that's it. that's why. (<- it's not, but they're not quite there yet)

so atsushi tells him as much. akutagawa accepts it bc 'yeah, makes sense. what else could the reason be?'

the whole routine of coughing and brainstorming a solution in vain continues as the ideas get even more insane, the cough even worse and atsushi more concerned than ever.

the next time akutagawa is annoyed enough to pose the question again, atsushi is close to tears from anxiety as he holds up akutagawa who collapsed and can't seem to subdue his cough properly.

atsushi struggles to get out the water bottle and cough drops he'd started carrying around on their missions together. he's so scared bc he's never seen akutagawa look so sick and frail before (but not weak. never weak. akutagawa could never be weak in atsushi's eyes. it's impossible, bc akutagawa being strong is a simple, unchangeable fact, constant in any possible universe).

what would he do if akutagawa actually died there? in his arms? on a mission? which would probably get cancelled. would the pm think atsushi killed him? does he bring back the body or just bury it somewhere? pretend he got killed on the mission and not by his own body that had turned on him years ago and was in reality a long time coming? he couldn't even bear to think abt it.

"why tf do u care so much??" akutagawa yells with a scratchy voice before his cough continue despite his best efforts to stop.

atsushi can barely breathe anymore. "because i don't want you to die, you idiot! we're a team! you're my partner. who will i be left with if you go?" tears stream down his face, mainly from how overwhelming his anxiety feels. or maybe bc he really doesn't want his partner to die? nah, it's the anxiety. definitely the anxiety. (<- #denial)

akutagawa, at first embarrassed how his collapse derailed their mission bc goddammit he's supposed to be a professional and not let his issues interfere with his job, pauses when he sees atsushi crying... for him? because of him? ???

he's very confused bc he's pretty sure his rival/enemy/partner should not be so concerned abt his health and impending death, but something abt atsushi's expression and that whole situation makes him rethink his outlook on life.

that's when akutagawa starts taking his health more seriously and actively looks for possible, feasible ways to cure his disease, even if there's only a small chance it'll actually work. bc seeing atsushi like that made him realize there are a handful of people who care abt him and would mourn him if he died; more than just his sister and higuchi.

it made him realize his life had a bigger impact on others than he'd previously thought, not all of it bad.

I'm not sure if you know much about Steven Universe but...Diamond au?

Alma is basically white diamond (The supreme Diamond basically), or should I say, Magenta diamond?

Pepa is obviously yellow diamond, Julieta is blue diamond, and Bruno is green diamond.

The grandkids are kind of...young diamonds? (I know in the show it's canon that Diamonds and crystal gems don't age but I'm switching things around for fun.)

So, young Diamonds are typically minded from underground places and it's extremely rare to find one and even rarer to find six.

(So, in the ground they're technically like babies in stone. There's no certain way of knowing when a Diamond will be born so you kinda just have to...wait.)

Isabela was born first, then Dolores. 2000 years later, Luisa was born. 4000 years later, came Camilo and then Mirabel. 10,000 years later, came Antonio.

Like in your Giant siren au, the diamond madrigal adults & teens are huge with Antonio being the smallest. But he's just as tall as the average adult.

Roles -

Magenta (Alma) is the leader and in charge of establishing Gemkind's identity. Yellow, Green, and Blue, holding second-tier status, oversee Home world's military and culture respectively. The grandkids are charge of throwing celebrations for the achievements of the other Diamonds.

In this au the adults aren't addressed as mama/Tia/Tio/Abuela they are just addressed as their colors. Same for the grandchildren-

Isabela = Violet

Dolores = Red

Luisa = Purple

Camilo = Gold

Mirabel = Teal

Antonio = Bronze, cider, Mikado, or apricot (I'm not sure which one to choose from.)

Mashing together this theory and another one (but I can’t find it for the life of me) where Grace is the reason NPMD happens, more specifically that the Lords In Black have a hold of Grace before the plot even sets in motion.

First piece of ‘evidence’ is the whole Dirty Girl scene. The whole thing is a sexual fantasy which Grace doesn’t even realize is happening until halfway through: “Max Jägerman? What are you doing in my bathroom?” And the fact that he’s wearing a crucifix which sorta seems out of character for him, but fits what I imagine Grace sees as the ‘ideal version’ of Max.

But also, she is woken up from her bath fantasy by her dad, meaning it was more of a dream than a ‘daydream’. Also, she holds her hand up in confusion as if she didn’t know she was doing that in the first place??? Very sus

Next piece is more the vibe of her character the whole musical. (Keep in mind I haven’t watched any of the Nightmare Time episodes so I don’t know much about Abstinence Camp but I’ve heard some stuff about her being unhinged there as well. Still, my theory is specifically about Grace in NPMD.)

Anyway, it seems really weird that this girl is clinging to the idea of being pure and not a sinner (she wouldn’t even let Max hold her books because ‘she’s only 18’, seeing that as being a step toward her and Max being “in carnal embrace”) and here she is lying to her family, lying to the police, stealing a gun, and cursing at God. Also also, SHE DISMEMBERED AND HID A DEAD FUCKING BODY. And lying is the sin she’s worried about? Talk about one fucked up moral compass lol.

And my last piece is the summoning. This one is a two parter cause there’s a couple things happening here. First is the actual summoning part. When Grace, Steph, and Pete are on the floor, they look pretty terrified and confused, but right before the Lords in Black show up, Grace makes a face of either pain or discomfort which is very different from Steph and Pete’s terror. Grace is literally wincing and curling in on herself. Just something me and a few other people noticed.

And the second part of the summoning is Blinky. He literally says that they’ve been watching her and they know all the bad things she’s done. Isn’t that kinda weird that the Lord’s in Black have taken an interest in Grace and ‘haven’t done anything about it’? Between Wiggly and Pokey, they love getting involved in their little shenanigans in Hatchetfield but this time they just sat back and did absolutely nothing? I don’t think so.

Anyway, maybe I’m delusional and none of that makes any sense or I’m a damn genius lol. I would love to hear your thoughts on this about whether or not it works!

OKAY SO A LOT HAS HAPPENED!!

Alastair isn’t actually evil which I’m glad of cuz now he’s back in my top 3 favorite characters. But what I’m not glad of is that there’s a spy in Magisterium. I’m not exactly worried abt the spy but about what the spy wants. They clearly don’t work for Joseph since the wild elemental tried also to kill Call which means that there’s an another evil guy who is probably even stronger than Joseph and is also from Magisterium which means that there will be a betrayal. To be honest i have two suspects and one of them is Celia(NOW HEAR ME OUT!) she knows everything about everyone and just feels a little too innocent and kind just like Drew did and he ended up being Josephine’s son. Also I think Celia doesn’t like makars because of Constantine. She also showed her darker side to Call when she said that she would murder Constantine if she ever met him. But here’s the problem with this solution: Celia doesn’t have an access to the wild elementals nor does she have the power to command them which can explain why the elemental started attacking everyone and not just Aaron(or maybe she’s just evil). Or maybe she tried to kill Call cuz she somehow found out who he is and she hates him. But why did she kiss him then?(it should’ve been Aaron) My other suspect is one of the Masters or even Rufus himself since they have the power to access the elementals. But why would they kill their students? The answer remains to be seen.

But what I actually came here to talk about is Call…where should I even begin?

First of all, the severed head was a slay move(literally)(talking abt Constantine not about Verity)(I really don’t understand how they said that a book with severed teenage girl’s head as a door knocker is for children)

Second, the more important thing, the secret is out. In the whole book it was my favorite moment, especially when all the chaos-ridden people followed all his orders. He also unlocked his chaos magic which means nothing but problems. I’m so happy that Call’s friends were so much more chill abt it than I expected. I kinda want to see Call in his evil era tho…

I just remembered that next to Drew’s body there was a picture of him and his dad and someone else but that person was ripped out of the picture. Sus.

Okay so

Barbatos is probably Nightbringer. He can control time and is self-aware (i think that's canon?) and in the trailer after showing Nightbringer n stuff he was shown like shhing us. And Solomon was the one talking n stuff (pretty sure) so. As we already know Solomon has some type of deal or sum with Nightbringer. And Solomon said that MC disappeared in the present but when we go back to the present it's like nothing happened. And Solo said Barbatos sent him back in time. Which may be a lie idk probably not. I highly doubt Solomon could go so far back in time. He has a pact with Barbatos so he could control him n stuff. Maybe when MC and Solo came back Barbatos took everyone's memory or sum??? Maybe idk. Also, when Diavolo is questioning us abt sending us home if you choose the "The future." option when Diavolo asks where we're from, Barbatos says something. Not Solomon, Barbatos. So that's really sus. Solomon doesn't say anything at all abt it actually.

And Simeon. Simeon is sus asf. Didn't really think abt him until i saw a post abt him being Nightbringer. It was a really good theory with great evidence but it also doesn't make full sense. But he is definitely suspicious. Cuz in one of the chats between Solo and Simeon, Solo says sum abt how he used to live with MC. Well. He responded with "really? When?" or sum along those lines am too lazy to look. But yeah. And Solo answered "Like.. A really long time ago?" or sum like that. (again, too lazy to look)

Everyone knows no one knew MC before the exchange program and MC didn't even know demons or magic existed, so yeah. And if he did remember all the past in NB he would've remember MC. Cuz i don't think MC changed a lot besides using a demon form. And someone probably told Simeon abt MC having the ring of light while explaining what happened to MC when we fell into a coma.

AND if you have Solo as the character on your homescreen he says sum abt how Simeon being there in the past is weird n stuff.

ahh yes, i’ve talked abt it here but that’s cuz jimmy is a listener (he can hear watchers around him) and grian was almost a watcher (his status is somewhere in the middle, a whole new kind of fucked up guy). the watchers actually have nothing to do with the plot, they’re just here to watch the drama unfold and insult jimmy LMAO i might explore them more in other oneshots but as far as ‘from eden’ is concerned, they’re just a little thing goin on in the background. for flavor.

WHAT IS CHARLOTTE HOLMES AND SHOULD I READ IT

OH MY GOD TIME FOR AN INFODUMP IM SO AUTISTIC ABOUT THESE BOOKS

ok so the charlotte holmes series is a series of 4 books [a study in charlotte, the last of august, the case for jamie, and a question of holmes]. AND THEYRE SO GOOD OH MY FUCJING GOD

essentially, a study in charlotte follows Jamie Watson [great great great grandson of John Watson, yknow the Sherlock Watson]. he moves from England to a boarding school in Connecticut, closer to his estranged father, and there he meets Charlotte Holmes [great × whatever granddaughter of Sherlock Holmes]. their families hadn't been on great terms for a while but he had always dreamed of meeting her, but when he does, it's because he's sticking up for her against the school's biggest asshole (and the guy who had bullied her for years). there's eventually a fight, and they part ways with charlotte making it very clear that she can stick up for herself. HOWEVER! when her bully is murdered later that night, charlotte and jamie find themselves the #1 suspects and have to work together to figure out who actually killed him.

I HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS SERIES!!!!!! IT HAS AMAZING CHARACTER GROWTH, REPRESENTATION OF MENTAL ILLNESSES AND COMPLEXITIES OF DIFFERENT FRIENDSHIPS!!! PLUS AN AMAZING SLOWBURN WHERE YOU KNOW THAT THEYRE MADE FOR EACH OTHER AND THEY KNOW IT BUT THEY ALWAYS TAKE IT SLOW TO MAKE SURE THAT ITS HEALTHY FOR THE BOTH OF THEM!!!!

there are some big tws tho: this series includes depictions/discussions of: sa, child neglect, manipulation, murder, violence, sh, depression, su!cid@l thoughts, and underage drug/alcohol usage nothing is super graphic but it can get really deep and a lil upsetting at points

overall, this is one of my favorite book series ever and I'd highly reccomend it to literally anyone. repressed people in love solving mysteries!! bc they are intrinsically tied together RAHH I COULD TALK ABT THEM FOREVER

Here’s a copy and paste rant from months ago!! I did this rant on a discord server so it’s pretty messy…

TW: mentions of su!cide And abuse

I don’t even know how to start but like the representation of mental health in Kagepro is amazing. I’ll start this off with like Jin doesn’t directly tell you “hey this character has this” but you just know the character has it. With Kano you know he has a compulsive lying disorder (along with some other things) because of how his music video represents it and the lyrics to his song + all the events and feelings he went through in the 5th LN. You actually get a representation (at least I haven’t seen this in like any other series) of being abused physically and emotionally, kanos mom used to abuse him physically, but a couple hours later come back crying and apologizing and it would repeat, but he didn’t think it was her fault and he loved her so much. It was only mentioned like twice in the LNs and he was really little when it happened but it’s still such a strong form of a lot of abuse that happens, not just the “I abuse my child, I feel no regret and my child hates me” type thing. Then Kano blaming himself so much for ayanos death he blames someone else for it (this ties in with survivors guilt kinda.) he also deals with getting manipulated….I can rant on abt kano but there’s other characters. We’ll go with Shintaro, obviously it’s known he has depression that’s just like there, but the representation of trauma he gets is SO GOOD. Again Jin doesn’t just go like “hey Shintaro has trauma.” But you just know he does because of the amount of representation. LTM he gets a couple of flashbacks to things, but things that aren’t just like “haha trauma is only abuse and witnessing something horrifying”. LTM and Shintaro represent that perfectly, and also him blaming himself for Ayanos suicide (survivors guilt/just guilt that comes along with trauma). Then also getting nightmares from trauma, like even if a lot of them are just Yaki talking to him in his dreams it’s still such a good representation. Also him pushing everything else away just to not forget Ayano. In the LNR Kano turns into Ayano, all the feelings Shintaro once had when he was with Ayano before came back, and he was afraid she hated him. I can go more on Shintaro but again other characters. Momo having a craving for attention when she was little because Shintaro was so much more intelligent than her. Even though she had parents who loved them both equally, she still felt not good enough, mostly mentioned in mr2, but she directly tells Shintaro she’s going to learn how to swim before him so she can be better than him in something, while not having a hateful feeling towards Shintaro. Then also mentioned in mr2 and the anime she has survivors guilt, thinking it was her fault her dad died. Then Seto in the LN route. Because he wanted to protect someone or not let go of someone so much he ended up trying to neglect and forget everyone else he loves, him thinking what if no one loved him all this time, basically running away from all his problems, and at the end of the route scared everyone would be mad at him for feeling the way he was feeling. In mr2 Seto felt helpless saying it was always like this and he can’t do anything to help, basically blaming himself for not being able to help anyone. He’s such a mess in the LNR I love him sm…..

Hibiya obviously has trauma and survivors guilt. In Otsukimi Recital he has tons of flashbacks even when he’s trying to be cheered up. Going to the park but getting flashbacks to Hiyori at the park, seeing Momo pet a cat and getting flashbacks to Hiyori petting the cat, etc. Blaming himself for not being able to save Hiyori as Hiyoris still “dead” and stuck in a loop.

Ayano with loneliness as seen in additional memory. She’s alone in the daze, and she misses everyone. But she KNOWS she had to do it, she sacrificed her health for everyone else’s even though she had to watch it do nothing in the end.

Ayano So desperately wishes to be the person everyone relies on, she loathes in it. If she can’t save anyone, what’s the point of her being there in the first place?

Haruka and Takane deal with diseases. Takane has a sleeping disorder and it makes her faint randomly, can be fatal. Haruka has a disease (most likely a heart disease) that is very fatal.

Haruka deals with things like wanting to be stronger because of his illness, feeling that sense of loneliness because he can’t physically be strong enough to do certain things, and having to visit the hospital frequently. But he wants to be himself (shown in anime.) In mr2 he deals with loneliness as everyone at school ignores him, he doesn’t have any friends but he still tries to be happy. In the hospital he finally makes a friend, he meets Takane. Takane has to leave but Haruka is stuck in the hospital due to his illness, but later Shintaro is taken to the hospital and Haruka becomes really good friends with him. But he has frequent nightmares abt Takane.

Takane deals with bottling up her emotions and feelings, she also deals with survivors guilt, thinking it’s her fault Haruka died. She was so caught up in her own pride she ignored him, she didn’t notice when he passed out from his illness. In mr2, she also doesn’t have any friends until Haruka. she deals with jealousy as well. She comes back after leaving the hospital to visit Haruka, even bringing gifts with her. But she sees Haruka and Shintaro playing video games together and laughing and stuff (btw she introduced Haruka to video games and played them all the time with him). She ran out of the hospital jealous and ended up committing su!cide

Even tho Ene is the same person as Takane, she deals with way different things in route xx and mr2. In route xx, she does her absolute best to try and not let Shintaro commit suicide, she does her best to distract him and does everything she can. She has to bottle up everything with Haruka, and keep everything from Shintaro. She’s afraid if she even brings up that she used to know Shintaro, it’ll give Shintaro bad memories of Ayano and the past. Yet she STILL tries her best to make Shintaro happy and distract him. She ends up failing, getting deleted and watching Shintaro kill himself. Plus she has to deal with her teacher literally being the one planning their deaths like??? (Even tho it’s technically not her teacher but yeah). Then in mr2 she admits she was running away from all her problems to shintaro, and says that Shintaro saved her as much as she saved him. (Ene and Shintaro stuff makes me AUGH)

Ok but that’s not the end of it, Pearl has done so much for rose since the beginning. Like girl faked the death of what basically was an empress for her. Quit her homeland, quit her dream of exploring the universe, and fought a war

And ok, Rose doesn’t have to return her feelings for all that, but she also LIED to her about what happened to one of their close friends and MORE

Rose isn’t a bad person (or a great one Tbf) and is actually a really complex one, but you can see why the fandom got blindsided and got mad at her for 2 years

No prob for spoilers, I won't watch it, I know absolutely Nothing abt the fandom or the show or any controversies, I used to but I bleached my memory of it to enjoy the vibes! And WOWWIEEE what interesting vibes, how dramatic, how tragic~~~

Indeed a controversial question, but what do you mean by little guy? Little guy like small character, or like basic character? I'll answer the second one anyways lol (you are very sus, anon btw).

This one's easy to answer, it's Hungary. Partly 'cause I'm Hungarian and I love Hungary from many aspects, but she's so badass in the anime and the manga. I sometimes saw ppl considering her to be the manliest character in the series, so that's a bonus point, I guess. So yup, she's lovely, blowing kissies for her :3 (hogy a történeti hűség is meglegyen, magyarul is kiírom, hogy a térdeimre borulok a hölgyeményért. Szeretünk, Magyarország ε>) (Böskéről órákig tudnék beszélni, de már most érzem, hogy ez hosszúra fog nyúlni.)

Oh yeah, and people, her name is written as Héderváry Erzsébet, not Elizabeta, Elizaveta, Elizabeth, and the é's and the á are important, don't replace them with e and a, they are different vowels. Her most common nicknames are Bözsi, Böske, Bözsike, Erzsi, Erzsike, feel free to use them!

And, the other one:

I love almost all the characters (except for 2P! Russia :[ ), and I could ramble about some characters quite much. But let's stick with France, because he's the most controversial one, lmao.

Why this guy (csigazabálő szőke rüfke, a lehető legjobb értelmében, magyarul jobban sértegetek) [pros]:

First, he's got quite much of screen time, which helps to understand Himaruya's idea about France (that's a huge advantage though, and is "unfair" to char.s that appear rarely). In the anime, he was hilarious, I enjoyed every moment where he appeared lol (I like analyzing ppl cognitively, and that's a bonus point, hehe. Se dom definitely, and Fi is his second function, in my opinion. That would be SeFiTeNi, an ESFP, but argumenting abt why this is valid is a lot more than what I want to type. You can ask me if you're curious though!). Once I've got a general idea about France's cognitive functions (how his brain works, for ppl who'd rather avoid Swiss psychiatrists [Karl Jung, I mean]), it's time to get ideas (and no sleep).

France's character is very colourful, and can work in a lot of situatuons (just as his history btw! we usually call France by arts, museums, baroque, music, etc., but many scientists, e. g. Félix d'Hérelle, Lavoisier or Pasteur come from here, and Frenchies also were the ones who laid out basic units of measure in continental Europe [like meter or gram], pretty cool and practical, because it's all decimal. They tried to make time measurement also decimal, but it failed). I've got 9 projects that rely on France heavily, so yeah, he fits in almost everywhere.

France's character isn't flawless, and that makes a character good. You usually like characters that actually develop, or are able to develop, and it's just easy for me to understand where France's flaws come from (it depends on which situation he's put in, but in the anime, he's lazy, a bit of a hyporcite, stubborn, and proud, just to mention some, and these flaws are easy for me to express. If France in a story actually focuses on fixing these, he could make a good development, and I can express it nicely).

France is pretty, ngl. He's easy to draw, I quickly routinised the process. I love his hair, it's fun to mess with. Not a strong argument, I know.

France is very shipable for me, I've got 5 ships that involve him [namely FrUK, RusFra, GerFra, PrusFra, Frain]. This is important if you're one of those yaoi readers in the corner of a classroom.

Bonus: Natsuki Kizu, the mangaka of Given, had the inspiration to Haruki from France! If this isn't awesome, then nothing is (not even Prussia). Source (I couldn't find the original post, but you can have this):

But as every characters, France also has downsides. Pretty deep ones, this is where we reach the controversial part [cons]:

(According to the anime,) France is annoying. Okay, he's amazing, gorgeous, sly and all that, but as I said, he's proud. And not quiet. Combine the two, and you make me want to rip out all strings of France's beard.

For some reason, I actually went insane by France for 2 months. It was some shit about second foreign language in our school, and I got so mad at myself for not choosing French that I got mad at APH France as well, lol. Every time I saw something that reminded at him, I told a rant and destructrive criticism first about the object I saw, and then one about France as well (but it's over now, yay).

Minus point for his official human name, which is Francis Bonnefoy. It's English, the French version should be François Bonnefoy, and it just irritates me that he's got an English name despite being the personification of France xD or he could be Ferenc Bonnefoy, if I want to push this thing more (Ferenc is Francis in Hungarian). So yeah, his first name sucks.
