I love characters with self destructive tendencies I love characters who get way worse before they get better (if ever) I love characters who would rather dig themselves into a deeper hole because it's easier than trying to climb out of it

An Israeli influence campaign is using hundreds of online avatars and fake social media accounts to attack Democratic lawmakers critical of Israel and promote news articles disapproving of the United Nations Palestine refugee agency (Unrwa), according to a report by the Israeli online watchdog, Fake Reporter. According to the report, the targeted campaign has used more than 600 avatars, sending out 58,000 tweets and social media posts to circulate articles published by The Guardian, CNN and Wall Street Journal, among other major news outlets that amplify Israel’s position on the war. The campaign relies on three major social networks, UnFold Magazine, Non-Agenda and The Moral Alliance, which were created prior to the war in Gaza. But the Hamas-led 7 October attack on southern Israel sent the accounts into round-the-clock posting. The sites, according to Fake Reporter, are geared specifically to a “progressive audience”, publishing content on climate change, AI regulation, and human rights, in addition to the war in Gaza. They have more than 43,000 followers across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The avatars promoting the content talk up their identity with lines like, “As a middle-aged African American woman” and use hashtags like #FaithJourney and #AfricanAmericanSpirituality.
Some examples from the report:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And continuing,
The avatars were all created on the same day and their profiles were written with the same formula, subbing out just a few words. The declared gender and ethnicity of the avatars don’t match the profile photos, which have been taken from websites selling headshots. The campaign works to amplify news stories published by major media outlets. First, the fake news sites share the reports. Then, the avatars share them across social media, including on the official accounts of Democratic lawmakers. Avatars also shared social media posts showing video clips of what appeared to be Pro-Palestinian protestors calling for "massacres to be normalised" and calling for the US to "go to hell", contrasting that with peaceful protests of pro-Israel protestors.   In other cases, Avatars simply reshared widely published video clips of US lawmakers questioning the heads of Ivy League schools about antisemitism on campus.  [...] According to the report, around 85 percent of all the US politicians targeted by the campaign were Democrats, and 90 percent of them were African Americans. Ritchie Torres, a black Democratic Congressman with generally pro-Israel views, garnered the most social media engagement from the avatars. Other lawmakers targeted included Cori Bush; Lucy McBath; House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries; and Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock. Israeli news site Haaretz reported in January that the Israeli government had launched an online influence campaign to respond to pro-Palestinian content and reports about Hamas.  It’s unclear whether the campaign revealed by Fake Reporter is part of that initiative.

Since I’ve seen a lot of Vax discussion today, here’s my chime in of something that’s been on my mind: There’s a lot of critique about how his resurrection cheapens and retrospectively nullifies the significance of C1. And I absolutely agree.
What feels particularly egregious on that front is that C1 is a story they are currently retelling. CR wants its audience to tune into The Legend of Vox Machina to experience the highs of Campaign 1 all over again- and you know I am! In fact, since I stopped keeping up with C3, TLOVM is the only CR media I’ve kept up to date with.
And it feels insane that we’re all going to re-experience the ending of C1 and just know that when Vax dies and Scanlan cries and Vex sobs and every day the raven comes to visit onscreen- that hey, that guy is actually alive haha. Isn’t that kind of wild? I don’t know how they expect it to have the same emotional impact for people who are up to date on the canon and context.

look okay okay. obviously matt is a hugely talented dm. but airing divergence immediately after campaign three is really putting into stark relief things it sorely needed. these characters all have clear reasons to be engaging with the world; they have motivations that keep them moving forward to solid goals; they've obviously been well-informed beforehand about the state of the world they're living in and feel like a part of it; they've been given reasons to all work together and cooperate and be involved; they have a defined context they all built their characters around that they fit cleanly in.
i respect matt's desire to let his players explore the world he built and be generous with their freedoms, and brennan knows he's working within much tighter constraints. but this is really laying some of campaign three's issues bare.

people on tumblr have got to learn that someone reblogging and disagreeing on your post that uses easily searchable key terms is Not fucking inciting harassment. if they have stated that they do not condone harassment, them arguing with you is Just them arguing with you. a large follower count does not preclude them from being a human being who is allowed to interact with your public posts.
you're also not being harassed when it's just a bunch of people disagreeing with you, anon or not.
harassment is sustained, malicious continuance of stated or shown unwanted actions. it's harassment when you say 'stop, i dont want to talk about this' and they continue, or when they're sending threats or abuse or sexual content that you have not allowed. until that point, it's just people disagreeing with you.
you don't have to enjoy people disagreeing with you, but y'all really need to fucking learn the difference. disagreement does not inherently equal harassment.
mwah. much love

The Dove link mentioned in this video no longer works.
Here is the link to the petition.
Legislative advocacy is vital in the fight against fatphobia. Last year, the Campaign for Size Freedom led to New York City outlawing size discrimination in "employment, housing, and public accommodation." That is over eight MILLION people who are now legally protected against fatphobia in those categories.
Here is the link to NAAFA (The National Association for Advancing Fat Acceptance), which was founded in 1969. This is specifically NAAFA's page about the Campaign for Size Freedom.
Here is Dove's page about the Campaign for Size Freedom.
If you've felt a lack of hope about ending fatphobia, legislative advocacy will make your voice heard.

Attention Massachusetts!
Tell legislators to ban size discrimination NEXT TUESDAY!
A message from Tigriss Osborn:
Next Tuesday, the Joint Judiciary Committee of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will consider testimony on Bill H.1705/S1108, “An Act to prohibit size discrimination.” If you live or work in MA, tell the committee that you support this bill!
The hearing is on Tuesday, December 5th from 1pm-5pm Eastern. It can be watched on the legislature’s livestream from all over the world.
There are three ways you can testify:
In person at the Statehouse in Boston (register in advance or register there on the day of testimony)
Virtually (advance registration required by Sunday, 12/3 at 5pm Eastern)
In writing (submit by email to [email protected])
We’ve put together a special MA Info Page for the Campaign for Size Freedom, including links to sign up to testify and sample written testimony. If you plan to testify, please complete the quick form on that page so we can send you reminders and other information.
Size Freedom legislation makes better communities for people of all sizes, and it is essential for fat people, who remain unprotected by most civil rights laws. It is even more urgent when anti-fatness is compounded by other forms of discrimination. Please share this message with your networks to help us activate as many people in MA as possible!
