With regards to the Council on Environmental Quality, docket number, CEQ-2025-0002.

As a middle-aged American, I do not agree with removing these regulations. These regulations were the reason we have had as much environmental improvement as we have so far, including reducing threats relating to acid rain, the ozone layer, and so on, things that we have demonstrable data about. Additionally, a better environment is better for the economy, as it helps agriculture, travel, and health.

Please protect Americans and the world as well as animals (both wild and the domestic animals we rely on for food) and plants (again, both wild and the crops we grow) by NOT removing the EPA regulations.

We have 30 days until the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) laws are rescinded. This is the 50-year bedrock of American conservation. Normally, these actions take years but the administration has provided 30 days for public comment gutting clean water and clean air. Drop what you’re doing, before you make any more calls or read any more social media posts, please populate the Federal Register with dissent.

outside of the fact that everyone who has sex is murdered by the narrative, this is a surprisingly chill portrayal of female sexuality? these teen girls are horny and actively enjoying Getting It On with their boytoys. no pushy boyfriends sneaking in through their bedroom windows--these ladies are taking the initiative to sneak out and GET SOME. one of them gets laid and then immediately orders her boyfriend to get her a beer. (yes she gets Slashered soon afterward, but so does the boyfriend so honestly, gender equality.) yes the Final Girl is the only one not having sex, but she's not bullied for that, nor are her friends slut shamed except possibly by being murdered by the narrative

actually the only character who is shown being morally condemned on-screen is michael myers. specifically FOR his violent overreaction to other people's sex lives. (people he is spying on). metaphorically, the villain is American Puritanism sticking its judgy nose into other people's business.

but actually the real villain is the doctor. guy's a judgemental, shaming, pathologizing asshole. and he's been in charge of michael's care since he was SIX YEARS OLD? kid never had a chance. i'd go on a killing spree too

also the parents. where are the parents? it's halloween night and all the teenage girls are home babysitting their younger siblings? come to think of it, michael's first victim was his own older sister, whom he killed while she was babysitting him. teen girls are really shouldering a labour burden here. maybe parentification is the true villain

side note: mike commits his first murder wearing a clown costume...which is never referenced again? his 'iconic' costume is a generic mask and wig and jumpsuit, when we coulda had a Killer Clown Michael Myers??? travesty

Bisan is calling for another global strike!

I saw some posts just outlining Jan 21st, and wanted to clarify that Bisan has called for a full seven days of action.

What a global strike would look like is:

calling in sick to work

purchasing bare essentials ahead of the week so you can observe the general boycott of goods / buying as little as you genuinely can

putting in a concerted effort to elevate Palestinian voices and make it clear that this strike is in support of a permanent ceasefire!

For those who will have to purchase necessary goods during this time, please observe the brands that the BDS movement is asking us to boycott!

Quick update: Today when I called I had to talk to an actual person (after holding briefly) and after my initial feeling of panic, I just read the script and she said "Thanks I'll pass your message along." Once again, happy to report that I didn't die while talking on the phone. Honestly I wish more phone conversations went like that.

Despite it being called 5 Calls in 5 Minutes, I'm trying to commit to making a minimum of one (1) actual phone call every day.

By the way, I'm told that if their office in Washington DC isn't answering or isn't working, sometimes their more local office is an alternative!

Things are scary and overwhelming but action is the best balm against helplessness.

(Also 5 Calls has an app if that's easier, but I'm using the website for the scripts because I need my phone for. Y'know. Making calls.)

Hey, if anyone else has serious phone anxiety (like meee) but is aware that calling your reps has more of an impact than emails but you're really, really struggling:

They give you scripts for EVERYTHING, you can just call your rep and read them off, and you're good! I've finally done the thing and called and I'm delighted to report it went fine and I didn't die.

I couldn't get their "find your rep" thing to work but luckily, if you don't already know yours, it's very easy information to locate.

Anyway, as someone who really seriously struggles with phone calls (I STRUGGLE TO CALL MY BELOVED AND ADORED PARTNER), this resource finally got me to do it and I'm hoping it'll help someone else.

(Anyone clowning in the notes about how calling your reps is useless or about how "you should have been doing this already" will be deleted, blocked, and if manifestation powers are possible, immediately spill soup on their favorite shirt.)

Columbo and the Knight (1984)

put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. so they take turns, switching out; edwin likes opera. he shows Charles how to waltz, chiding Charles to stop looking at his feet til they’re gliding, whirling around like they’re in the movies. Edwin’s smile is small and pleased and lovely. (Charles attempt to get Edwin to headbang along to queen results in a sort of awkward rhythmic nodding. Charles loves him so much he could die again.)

And, like. Edwin doesn’t like clutter. he doesn’t bother with the random tidbits ghosts give them for solving cases.

now he comes back from trading at the goblin market with little useless things—a cursed rubix cube, records from bands Charles mentioned years ago.

Charles is so busy trying to subtly read his book on Edwardian courting rituals (disguised by Nikos discreet manga covers) that he doesn’t realize what Edwin’s set down in front of him. he stares at Edwin’s spiky handwriting, the tidy numbered list.

“I thought, perhaps, that we might—start a new tradition.”

Charles blinks, eyes stinging. “Mate, did you.. make me a mixtape?”

“Crystal assisted me, and while she was absolutely insuffer—“ Edwin staggers, catching him with a surprised little noise.

“I love you so much,” Charles says, muffled into his throat. “You’re my favorite person. I love you so much it hurts, sometimes.”

“Yes,” Edwin says softly, hands curling around his waist. He takes Charles weight like it’s nothing. “I believe I know the feeling.”
