What is your theory about how the curse on Jacks broke?

Jacks's love for Evangeline broke the curse. Jacks is in love with Evangeline, as in she is his true love.

I don't have the exact paragraphs in hand right now, but it is implied and even slightly confirmed/hinted that Jacks never fell in love with anyone other than Evangeline. It's the first time he truly loved a woman and thus, both his and her love for him broke the curse. Because it is stated several times in the Caraval world, that true love is capable of breaking curses.

I also like to believe that no other woman fell for him the way his Little Fox did.

Another thing that confirms that he didn't love anyone else is, when he had the stones, he turned back time to save Evangeline. He had lots of moments he could go back to, but his only priority was his Little Fox.

The Ballad of the Archer and the Fox (I don't like this at all) but it's there because for one it adds to the poetic and magical style of the books and to show, that the first time Jacks kissed someone, was the time when he was still human and also the first time he killed with his kiss. Aurora put the spell on him back then and thus he became the Prince of Hearts. The Archer story exists to show the beginning of the "birth" of Prince of Hearts and not a love story.

Also, I was expecting the first Evajacks kiss mindblowing... and more scenes with them afterwards...

Heyy I had a question about acftl , how do you think Evangeline and jacks are going to meet again, I’ve been thinking about it and I can’t think of anything other than jacks sneaks into Evangelines wedding or smth

Uh, I guess this was buried in everything that happened after, but Evangeline is already married to Apollo!! This happened in OUABH!! Apollo was poisoned on their wedding night!!

As the entirety of the North remembers their wedding (it was pompous) I doubt Apollo would want another one, so no sneaking around to her wedding.

He could, however, sneak into a ball, (probably in honor of Apollo being 'mysteriously revived') and be faced with the consequences of leaving her alone.

It's my personal opinion, but I believe after he heals from whatever Chaos did to him, he's going to sneak into Wolf Hall to make sure his Little Fox is still alive and Time hasn't stolen her away again.

I think the reason Jacks’s pov was cold and he is mean sometimes is because first of all he is a fate, not a human, but I also think he is terrified to feel what he does for Evangeline since her life is in the balance. It’s as he says at the end, if he lets himself stay with Eva, he will kill her. And her life is more important to him. I think that is why he comes across as cold and mean sometimes. And I think after he rewinds time, that is also why he is mean to her because he needed her to get away. Again, it’s about her being alive.

I’m not too happy about the love triangle Stephanie seems to be setting up, but I am hopeful this is a set up for Jacks to prove himself and just grovel and be pathetic for Eva. Eva will be predisposed to “loving” Apollo due to her letter from TBONA. So I think this book is the time and place for Jacks to man up and work for Eva and show his love

i understand that, i just don't like that he was so cold in his pov (and the bonus scene) that happened in the beginning of tbona because it seems that the sg acted like ouabh didn't exist. they had the least amount of attachment there, and idk, i just got the impression that she wanted to show that he was horrible all the time. i know he is, but it's also a romance book and he's going to be the protagonist's romantic partner.

regarding the possible triangle, i am not unhappy. i like the idea of seeing jacks suffer for evangeline, and it will be interesting if apollo gets the slightest bit of development. i just think that if it really is a triangle, sg has to be careful because it's the last book and she should focus on building everything she didn't build between evajacks in these last two books.

I'm so confused like ii need it to be September 'cause I already waited six months but if its October I'm gonna start rioting.

The initial release date was September but then it was pushed back because everything couldn't be prepared for a September release!

(I know, having to wait an extra month is torture. I'm with you, but it's better acftl wasn't rushed, in my opinion.)

So these are just notes and random things I wrote down from Stephanie Garber's London tour:

● Her favourite character used to be Jacks but now it's Apollo *gasp from the audience*

● She wrote Finale chapter 16 ( the one where it mentioned that a wedding party was turned to stone and the bride's sister took their place) before she wrote Once Upon A Broken Heart, which actually contradicts what everyone believes- that she wrote chapter 16 to set up ouabh.

● In the first draft of ouabh, Evangeline was a spy sent from Valenda to the North to kill Jacks.

● She's written her next book (secret project #7) and it's probably going to be announced around a month after acftl is released.

● When asked if Chaos, Lala and the Valors are going to return she said yes and that there is going to be a Chaos/Lala scene (a scene where Evangeline is like "hey I'm still here guys") (Stephanie's words)

● She said she also has a Chaos/Lala story in her head but I think there was something about Secret project #7 having nothing to do with the ouabh/caraval universe but don't quote me on that.

● Jacks was hard to write in acftl

● Also mentioned that Legend was easy to write until Finale

● When asked about alternate endings she said she:

> she doesn't like writing bonus material

> she feels like she puts everything she wants to in the book

> they are not canon

> there is one light ending, one dark ending and one that's in the middle (out of all the bonus epilogues/alternate endings)

> she prefers the dark ending and doesn't really like the light ending

● There actually is something about Jacks liking apples and sometimes the colours were intentional

let’s revisit so:

- jacks had evangeline bent over a bridge and dangling within an inch of her life

- threw clothes at her face while giving her instructions IN HER OWN ROOM

- knocked aurora out because she wouldn’t give him his heart back when he asked

- threatens and kills the assassin who tried to kill evangeline

- beats apollo to the point he seems half dead

- had a 2 v 1 sparring with the valor brothers because they didn’t have evangelines best interest at heart (this was funny bc he didn’t even care that he was losing)

- stabbed chaos for talking to evangeline (his bff of many years btw)

- gave evangeline a dead fox as a warning not to look for him with a letter that said “a little fox for my little fox” (isn’t he soo dreamy 😍)

this is who people are calling out of character btw he was still very much unhinged
