actually regarding that last post, i can map out the timeline of my book/series obsessions pretty well.
kindergarten-1st grade: The Chronicles of Narnia
1st-2nd grade: Nancy Drew
2nd-3rd grade: various horse books, including The Pony Pals, The Black Stallion, Black Beauty, and various Marguerite Henry books including King of the Wind, Misty of Chincoteague, and Brighty of the Grand Canyon
4th-5th grade: Redwall, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, and Warriors (my "talking animals" era)
5th-8th grade: this was my Harry Potter era
5th-8th grade: this also happened to be my DRAGON era, where i became obsessed with pretty much anything that had a dragon on the cover, notably including Eragon, Hatching Magic, The Last Dragon Chronicles, The Dragons In Our Midst series by Bryan Davis, The Dragon Keepers Chronicles by Donita K. Paul, and Dragon's Blood by Jane Yolen. my mom would not let me read dragonriders of pern at this age and i resented her for it.
(there was also a short period of time in 5th-6th grade where i became obsessed with the Star Wars: Jedi Apprentice books)
7th-9th grade: my STAR TREK era, and also around the time i discovered the existence of fanfiction.
i don't remember if i had a specific book series i was into at this point in time, although this is when i first read Bone and realized comics could be longer than the stuff in the newspaper.
9th-10th grade: this is where my comics era TRULY began, starting with X-Men and a whole slew of webcomics, including Gunnerkrigg Court, The Wotch, Darths and Droids, The Order of the Stick, Shortpacked!, Questionable Content, and Homestuck.
I don't remember if I was particularly hooked on a book series at this point--I vaguely remember feeling like all the books actually aimed at my age were a combination of unnecessarily edgy and uncomfortably sex/romance-obsessed, books for younger kids were too dumb/simple, and books for adults were mostly uninteresting because they weren't about experiences i cared about or could relate to.
11th-12th grade through sophomore year of college: DISCWORLD DISCWORLD DISCWORLD, i discovered discworld and DEVOURED those books.
this time period was also my Batman era
12th grade-junior year of college: my Avengers/MCU and SuperWhoLock eras
this is kinda when i mostly stopped reading books for pleasure? apart from my ongoing Discworld phase, i didn't read a whole lot of fiction books that weren't for school.
senior year of college: Undertale, Ace Attorney, and Hatoful Boyfriend all happened to me in this year, i was too busy with them to read actual books. also i think this is around the time i hit on The Adventure Zone
master's degree years: Critical Role and Evan Dahm's Overworld Tales comics
i don't actually remember what fandoms i was cycling through between the end of my master's degree and the Plague Years, apart from my Homestuck Revival Period.
Pre-Plague Era: Homestuck Revival Period.
Plague Years (part one): The Magnus Archives, Rusty Quill Gaming, and Stellar Firma
Plague Years (part two): Hollow Knight, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Manga
The-Plague-Isn't-Really-Over-But-Let's-All-Pretend-It-Is: The Untamed, leading into Scum Villain. Also, the Locked Tomb.
Post-Move Era: Trigun and Revolutionary Girl Utena
Now: idk currently it's Hollow Knight but like two weeks ago it was Batman and before that it was MDZS/CQL again for a hot second, i'm just kinda floundering around at the moment and haven't found a new series to get obsessed with for.... a pretty long while actually? i know i COULD start things and there are many many things on my to watch/read/listen list but starting new things is Incredibly Difficult and has been for a while now actually.
#fandoms#books#this was so unnecessary#i did not need to keep going past college probably#my childhood

Ace Attorney characters that I think are related
In addition to my “ Godot is Manfred’s other child” agenda.
Richard Wellington and Frank Sawhit:
My favorite pack of thieves. I like to think Frank was stealing in order to earn enough for him and his son to survive. And then Richard was trying to get enough money to bail his father out of prison but once learning who the defense attorney would be for Maggey decided to try to avenge his father. I want them to have a tearful reunion in prison and then escape together to rob more rich people <3.
Furio Tigre and Wocky Kitaki:
Have you seen the last names?!! In all seriousness I think them being related would make the overall crime scene more fleshed out and make its story more cohesive. The Cadaverni rage wouldn’t be over a member getting in an accident with just some thug, but a member of a mob, a rival to power in “Los Angeles”. Though I don’t think Tigre would be considered a legitimate member of the family by the Kitaki line themselves, I think Wocky would look up to Furio as an older brother figure and base his persona around him. Wocky’s aggression to Phoenix is less funny now though.
Polly Jenkins and Goldy Gerwitz:
Imagine the only person who ever cared for you took their own life and you lost everything and now all you have left to turn to is material items. But then coincidentally you come across those who indirectly lead to her suicide but you are too scared do anything and you regret for the rest of your life for your inaction. Just fun with the bois over here.
Herman Crab and Larry:
A STEM and artist duo returns, this time as brothers! It’s the most romance repulsed aromantic against the world’s strongest romanticist ( but Larry is also aro spec, I can feel it in bones). Neither of them can ever have a normal last name and Larry only took his mother’s in order to avoid people making jokes about him having crabs (* cries in the pain of bad nicknames*). In all seriousness , both Larry and Herman are incredibly talented, noble people who will ride and die for those they care about. While Herman would be annoyed by his much younger brother’s antics, he’d still genuinely care for and look out for him. And Larry naturally would be down to help his older brother with any of his schemes.
Simon Blackquill and Daryan:
My favorite black and white animal themed mysterious, dramatic men. I think them being related would tie the Apollo Justice series' events and characters more closely together and give much needed characterization to Daryan ( yet one of many aspects of wasted potential in the Apollo Justice series). Daryan becoming a detective because he doesn't believe Simon could do such heinous acts in a mirror to Klavier and Athena, him trying to gain whatever influence and power and wealth he can which could potentially aid his family. Daryan agreeing to smuggle the cocoons both because he genuinely wants to save people like Simon did, laws be damned, but because being in the good graces of such a high ranking official, in addition to the large sums of money he'd gain in return, could be what saves his relative. The reveal of this plan would hold so much more immediate consequences and affect a wider reach of characters. And Simon, trying so hard to help and protect all those he cares about all on his own, with Daryan being a reminder how damaging that mentality can be and that no matter how hard the both of them try they can't save everyone!!!!
Also yes, Daryan keeps the hair for Simon's sake, who styled it that way as a prank.
Tyrell Badd and Luke Atmey:
Luke wanting nothing else than to be just like his cool, smart, popular father but feeling like he can't properly emulate him on his own, so he lies and cheats to attempt to do so in turn becoming everything his father is against and hates.
Also Luke feeling like his father prefers Kay over him BYE-
Payne and Geiru:
Imagine following in your ancestors' footsteps to join the law system in order to bring ‘pain’ upon evil doers but one of your family members decides to fuck that and runs off to become a rakugo artist of all things. And then you find out years later that they had a child who committed murder in their name and you didn't even get to come across her in court. Poor Payne can't ever catch a break.
Ron and Joe Darke:
The worst father and son duo who commit crimes and escalate situations because they have terrible problem solving skills yet despite that cannot be convicted for the life of them, the former only happening with false evidence. But the main reason I like this idea is because it means Ron took his wife's last name "DeLite" since she is the light of his life and now he isn't in the 'dark' anymore.
Boo all you want.
Jinxie Tenma and Uendo Toneido:
Two of the best ( and underrated) Ace Attorney characters in addition to being great mental health representation! I think they'd have great chemistry and interactions as siblings. Also Uendo deserves a wrestler father who can beat shit out of ableist fucks and law enforcement. <3
Gumshoe and Dogen:
Such a slut for the idea of Gumshoe wanting to tear himself away from the family name and to do good by saving lives instead of ending them yet working in an incredibly deadly, corrupt system that goes against his ideals and desires.
Also Dick's still definitely hurt that Dogen seems to care more about Simon Keyes than him >:)
Constance Courte and Sebastian:
" Uh, if Constance Courte was Sebastian's mom, wouldn't Blaise had make her disappear-"
Bitch, he tried. That loser husband had to back down.
Unfortunately, Constance wasn't able to take her son with her and decided to throw herself even more into her teaching of law, her indirect way of fighting her husband and preventing people from becoming like him. I like to think she got to reunite with her son again after Blaise was finally arrested and Sebastian continued his prosecuting career in her honor.
Anyway Constance Courte is cool and deserved more screentime ( and to be written into a better case lmao).
Cody Hackins and the Fey clan:
I just want more perspective on the Fey family from those AMAB, I can't believe the main AA trilogy went into Kurain Village and the Fey Clan and didn't expand on this. Anyway, Cody's lack of spiritual power, supposedly due to his sex, in addition to losing his mother led to him and his father being discarded from the main clan and looked down upon. Refusing to accept the position of a branch family given to him, Cody's father took the two of them away from the village. While initially having trouble adjusting to such a drastic change in lifestyle and environment, the two of them were overall happier. Cody still faintly remembers Mia and Maya as some of the few people in the village that were kind to him and is unable to accept Mia's death, believing she and Maya "fused powers" and simply cohabit a body now. On a happier note, Steel Samurai is both Cody and his father's comfort show and they and the Fey Sisters ( and eventually Pearl) watch it together.
The Von Karma and the Justice family:
Okay, with names like those, centered around concepts considered essential to the judicial system, they have be to be connected somehow in this series. Whether they're distantly related or rival families or what, both family lines and their influences absolutely permeate the series.
Also 100% the reason Kristoph took Apollo in as his mentee was to spite the Von Karmas.
Lauren Paups and Matt Engarde:
Polar opposite (half) siblings: Lauren is shy while Matt is outgoing, Lauren has low self esteem while Matt thinks highly of himself, Lauren’s a dreamer and romanticist while Matt’s cruelly aware of how the world works, Lauren’s wishy washy and easily swayed while Matt’s is rooted in his ideas and beliefs, Lauren can’t hide feelings or thoughts while Matt constantly wears a mask, yet their most prominent trait, the one that they share, is that they’ll do anything for who or what they believe in. Also they both share self destructive tendencies when seemingly stressed (Matt scratching and Lauren cutting up pieces of their hair) in addition to being heavily dramatic. Unfortunately, I don’t think they ever got the chance to properly know each other but nonetheless the duo would be close ( as much as they’re allowed to be anyway).
Also this beta design for Lauren is Matt Pre- T and you can’t convince me otherwise.
Give me your relationship hcs, I love to hear the brainworms from other people and have them play with my maggots <3

20 Questions For Fanfic Writers!
I got tagged in this by the lovely @onewhoturns, and I'll tag some others at the end!
1: How many works do you have on Ao3?
I only have 8 actually published there, but for reference, I went into my WIP folder and found over 100 more... So I do write things! I'm just really really bad at actually publishing them.
2: What's your total Ao3 word count?
Assuming I've done my math right, my current total word count sits at 262,909. Most of that is probably the longfics I've done with Turner, but there are almost certainly some hidden gems in there as well.
3: What fandoms do you write for?
Well, I haven't actually written and published something for a specific fandom for a while now, but my more common interests these days are Genshin Impact, Fire Emblem, Metal Gear Solid, Ace Attorney, Shadow & Bone (Netflix TV show specifically) and a few sporadic others! But my past works were for Oxenfree, Destiny, Ava's Demon, Homestuck, Overwatch, Critical Role, The Magnus Archives and Half Life.
4: Top five fics by kudos?
That would beeee So It Goes, Blue Hair, Red Jacket, A Different Angle, One Foot, and finally Holy Spirits!
5: Do you respond to comments? Why/Why not?
As much as I love getting comments on fics, I don't often respond to them. I don't really have enough published to get engagement super often, and even then, I'm just not the kind of person to reach out at random simply because I've heard too many Internet Horror Stories(tm). But, maybe if I do publish more in the future, I'll make a habit of answering then!
6: What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I... Don't really know? Most of my fics are either one-shots or unfinished multi-chapter works. There's probably something really angsty in my WIPs, but since it's never seen the light of day, we'll never really knows.
7: What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
Hmm. Hm hm hm. That would probably be a toss up between A Different Angle, which is just meant to be a nice, feel-good oneshot, or Pyrite-50: Quiet Moments, which is a kind of character study of one of my Destiny PC's.
8: Do you get hate on fics?
Since I only have 8 published, and I'm not like a super-duper popular author, I don't really think I get hate. All of the comments I've seen have been really sweet and lovely, which I'm thankful for.
9: Do you write smut?
I've been known to partake... On occasion....... <- Currently hiding most of it away in that damned WIP folder
10: Do you write crossovers?
Aside from the every-so-often "AU fic inspired by another piece of media", no, not really. But maybe that will change sometime! I wouldn't be truly opposed.
11: Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I'm aware!
12: Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope. My reach, like I said, is pretty minimal. But if anybody were to ask, I'd say go for it, as long as I got credit as the author.
13: Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Most of my published fics are co-written! My co-author was actually the one who tagged me in this, Turner. You can go check out all our Oxenfree stuff on Ao3 right now.
14: What's your all-time favorite ship?
Oooooh, this one is hard. The one I've undoubtedly written the most for is jonalex, but I'm a huge multishipper, so I've never really preferred one pairing over another before. It's always so dependent on my mood! Can I just say all of them?
15: What's the WIP you hope to finish but doubt you ever will?
The forgotten Kaz Brekker/Darkling smut. It sits in its little google document, taunting me. I know that you're there. I KNOW.
16: What are your writing strengths?
I'd like to think I'm good at metaphors? Generally, getting into a character's psyche is what I strive for, and when I get it right it feels like a real achievement. I've also been told that I'm very good at making dialogue that feels real, or that flows in a way that makes sense, which is something else I'm really proud of.
17: What are your writing weaknesses?
Finishing things. Fight scenes (of the physical variety). The two big F's.
18: Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Seeing as I am a person who only knows one language (and guess which one that is), I don't often write in other languages for my fics, because I'm a liiiiittle too scared of fucking up. On the rare chances I have, I usually use someone I know as a translator, but that limits me on how many languages I can conceivably use. As far as foreign languages in other fics go, I'm all for it!
19: First fandom you wrote for?
It's either Harry Potter, and that fic has now been orphaned to the wind, or maybe Homestuck?
20: Favorite fic you've ever written?
Of my published fics, it has to be So It Goes. That one has a special place in my heart for a multitude of reasons, and not just because Turner and I got to write it together. Of my WIPs, there's an unnamed freemance fic that I've been dying to finish that I just recently found again, and it made me fall in love with my writing for a second time; in a strange way.
Tagging!!
@artemis-crimson @reddgiant @starchemist @starlit-bawka @cranehusbands @duvirii and basically whoever else wants to do it.

Ace Attorney Case 3 Thoughts:
Coming into this case I had 0 expectations, and I was actually pleased with it. This case placed a big emphasis on the exploration of its setting, in this instance, the studio, its lots, and the dressing room. This change caught me off guard at first, I'm not particularly used to backtracking or returning to areas that I had explored previously. But in this case, it proved important to do so, revisiting the dressing room to find Sal, and coming back to the employee area to find Cody. After a bit of trial and error (sad to admit that I got lost for like 5 minutes before I returned to the dressing room to find Sal) I eventually got used to the notion of having to check locations multiple times.
A comment in my last post let me know that some people believed this case unnecessary. I had a lot of fun with it, this is not to say it's without its problems which I will get into later on. Despite the issues, the case felt like a wild ride in which I had to constantly guess the killer and the possible motives for the killing. This feeling kept me on my toes throughout the course of the case. My initial guess which I thought would make the killer a bit too obvious was Penny. When given the security cam photo of the suspected killer the first thing I noted was the pants dragging. Subjectively speaking I feel like other people must've had the same thought as I did. Instead, the game emphasized the leg dragging behind which would indicate Powers due to his ankle injury. Even though my initial thought was incorrect I found the usage of the limp to more than make up for my surprise. The writing in terms of the limp was great, it made it so technically only people at the rehearsal could imitate Powers, narrowing it down to 4 people who could don the suit, Powers, Vasquez, Oldbag, and Hammer (which at the time would seem unthinkable). With Oldbag getting ruled out early on the rest of our focus pivots to the rest of the people in the room. Unlike the 1st and 2nd trials, the vast variety of possible suspects made the case really thrilling. Having to narrow down possible suspects one by one is something I hope returns in future cases. (I for a split second thought it might've been the kid but that would be too dark for this game..... surely.)
The most interesting portion for me, well portions, for me were 1. Hammer being the "killer" and 2. THE DANG TBONE STEAKS. First off my thoughts on Hammer, his storyline is actually a bit sad, someone who was accidentally involved in a tragedy. In the world, emphatically we can understand why he chose to try and kill Vasquez, he had been held hostage for 5 years, for something completely out of his control, a freak accident. This turmoil and anger caused him to stoop as low as to possibly implicate Powers in the murder, essentially ruining an innocent person's life. I found this fact ironic because it similarly mirrors his own situation, ruining one's life for a death they did not cause. It's easy to say he's in the wrong (which he is) but at the same time, grief and sadness can cause people to do things they normally would never think of doing. I thought the twist of having him be an attempted murderer to be super interesting, something I thought wasn't possible or plausible coming into this case. Now going into the real important tidbit, the T-bone steaks in what world would anyone expect T-bone steaks to be vital information in a court case, not to be used only once but twice... When I first entered the employee's area I was a bit befuddled as to why they specified the steaks to be T-bones, I laughed it off musing to myself "Surely they aren't important". When I first entered studio 2 and saw the plates it hit me "huh no bones". At that point, I knew that somehow as some absurd affront to God, the T-bones became VITAL to the case. (I'm so so so glad that the game made reference to them somehow eating the bones as well it's so funny)
Before I get into the gripes I had about the case I wanted to go over my thoughts on Edgeworth turning a new leaf. In my last post, I talked about how his methodology seemed cold but fair, and how I wanted to get more insight into his character. This case delivered in this aspect, with him taking a 180 and pulling back once he realized Phoenix was about to lose his chance at fully freeing Powers of his indictment. My personal canon built in my mind from only knowing Edgeworth from two cases is that he had built his career on always attaining a guilty verdict. Without much care for right or wrong, he simply pursued his role in the court. After his last run-in with Phoenix, I suspect his view had changed, the realization that he potentially could've ruined the lives of both Wright and Maya, their innocence, and his subsequent loss in the previous trial would cause him to rethink his outlook on his role as a prosecutor. I suppose future cases will go further in-depth to explain this because as with Phoenix and the rest of the jury, it seemingly came out of left-field leaving us wondering why Edgeworth would risk his own job to protect the defense. Gumshoe also has a minor redemption in the form of protecting Maya and Phoenix from getting wiped by the mafia which I thought was a fun little bit.
Now as for my problems with this case, I mainly only have two, 1 Being Sal as a whole, and 2 the aftermath of the case especially pertaining to Vasquez. I'll start off with Vasquez, I'm no lawyer but in my eyes, she is liable for multiple very serious offenses, namely the covering up of the truth of events in a death 5 years past, and her involvement with the mafia. She had also recently killed an individual in self-defense, as well as almost going through with the murder of a 17-year-old and a defense attorney, with Gumshoe being a witness in the latter incident. I'm left wondering if I had missed something in the aftermath of what happened to Vasquez, or possibly it just being something that's left up to the imagination. It's not entirely out of the picture that I'll get a follow-up to the case in the future, all I can really do is wait and see.
Now on to my main problem Sal, now without mincing words or tip-toeing around it, he's just weird and unnecessary. We see this type of character pop up a lot in media, the pervy nerd, a lot of the time I'm left wondering why they exist. I've played a couple other similar games to AA namely AITSF, the Zero Escape series, and Dangan Ronpa and they all to some extent suffer from similar archetypes with the severity ranging from title to title. My problem with the character kind of starts and ends with my initial statement, he isn't necessary to the plot and just kind of comes off as a pervert as some sort of comedic punch. I understand that it's most likely a case of something not aging well, with the game being originally released back in 2001, but even back then I would've been disappointed with him as a character. I found this trial to have a large cast of characters/suspects, all having their own possible motives, and I found each of them to be interesting, having a part in the greater narrative of the case. I feel like they could've done so much more with the role of the producer, especially since he's seemingly overworked and/or being pushed around by Vasquez. I think my disappointment comes from that, him being an unlikeable character, on top of the potential of the role his character could've played, which just left a bad taste in my mouth. It's not to say he completely ruins the case, It's precisely because it's a good case that I have such a problem with him.
Before I close off I wanted to say I really liked Penny and I'm glad she wasn't the killer or anything despite my initial thoughts (the pants sagging in the security photo made me think someone of her stature could've been wearing it...) Overall thought this was a good case, which gives us more insight into the cast, as well as providing more depth to Edgeworth's role in the game. I do in the future hope to get Maya more involved, as of now it seems that Mia is too big of a crutch still for Phoenix, but I fully expect them to tackle this later on. Thank you to anyone who read this far, I would like to note that I'm not a good writer and this post is probably evidence of that. Just a lot of mindless rambling, but I do find it very fun to be able to summarize my thoughts and put them to text, which in turn makes the game more enjoyable for me. I'll probably try to cut down the writing in future posts this one was really long for no reason. Anyways gotta go buy a tbonesteak or something i needa know what all the fuss is about...

Hi sorry for being the least normal person on the planet about this but I saw you rbing some The Locked Tomb stuff and it's only been like a week or two since I got extremely into the series and it's nice to see someone I follow also show interest in it around the same-ish time as me! Can I ask abt your take on the books so far n fav character/s?
well I've only read the first book (I'm definitely interested in continuing with the series but I probably won't get to it for a while, esp. since I wanna get back into playing Ace Attorney games, as playing a visual novel kinda takes up the same time slot in my day as reading a novel, yk?) so there's def stuff I don't know abt yet.
but anyway yeah! I did really enjoy it. I appreciate the comedy in it, which I wasn't really expecting since like the cover art is so grim and it opens with some really dense politics stuff and a bunch of long names (that I just know should be pronounced with a british accent but I can't really make my head voice do that) and like the actual plot is very serious with deaths and stuff but nonetheless This Book Has Jokes
and its best when they're the dumbest, simplest jokes you could think of and Gideon says them out loud because thats the kind character she is. love her
Palamedes is great too because he entertains Gideon's antics while also being the one most focused on solving the mystery castle puzzles. (this girl who's been here for like a month and has never spoken a word to anyone is talking to me now? and she's rude? thats fine I'll just roll with it). he's also like the most normal dude in the whole cast. you feel comfortable when he's around
(btw what the hell was up with the thing he discovered about the rooms in Canaan House being from different time periods? like the different rooms are literally different ages? I don't think that was ever explained or brought up again???)
Also, for "lesbian fiction" being basically the one thing everyone says about this series, I was kinda surprised at the lack of a romantic plot in this one? I mean maybe there will be more of that in the other books idk, but like. ok so from the beginning it's very clear that Gideon and Harrow are gonna be the main pair here. and I was a little skeptical they were gonna be able to sell me on that because of where their relationship started, but nahhh I had nothing to worry about. they were meant for each other and enemies to lovers works great it turns out. but like. their relationship definitely improves a lot over the course of the story, but most of the time they don't talk to each other about anything but their jobs. its all bones and skeletons and locked doors with them.
don't get me wrong it has strong gay vibes all the way through (and Gideon is constantly commenting on how hot other women are, which is great) but at no point are Harrow and Gideon actually like. dating. closest they got was when I think it was implied they fucked once, after the pool scene. which like, good for them, I'm glad they got the opportunity to do that before, ah, y'know.
speaking of which I have NO clue what'll happen next based on how it ended. and the brief glimpse of the emperor at the very end was not at all what I expected, so that's curious as well...
OH yeah and speaking of the empire. uh at least the copy of the book that I have has a bunch of bonus material at the end, like in-universe essays and reports (and a pronunciation guide where I frustratingly learned I'd been reading half the characters' names wrong). and ONLY in that bonus material was it ever acknowledged that other inhabited planets exist outside of the empire. like for the whole book it kinda seems like there are nine planets that comprise the empire, and that's it. no humans anywhere else in the universe. no life outside the empire.
sure, the Cohort supposedly fights "enemies of the empire" but that's all that's ever said about that. could be like evil skeletons or some other kind of space monster for all we know. but no there ARE other civilizations, which I guess might be at war with the necromancers? it's cool to know that, that this story's universe is bigger than we've seen, and if I had to guess I'd say bigger than we probably ever will see, since there's still so many ghost/death mysteries and House history stuff our beloved necros have yet to solve.
ok thats probably everything I have to say about Gideon the Ninth for now. thanks for giving me an opportunity to put it all into words, lol

Blah blah personal ramblings
So I am truly loving these antianxiety meds that I got put on. I feel so much better that it's wild. I feel like a normal person, for the most part. I only took them for a month, and it seems like they've already taken care of the problem I got them for. On top of that, I just have a lot less anxiety and general sadness. I don't wake up from 2:00 to 4:00 in the morning anxious for no particular reason. I feel calmer. I've had a few situations at work that instead of wanting to cry as soon as they happened, I was able to just think my way through them. 10/10
I even stopped wanting to eat constantly and falling asleep at, like, 8:00 every night.
ON THE OTHER HAND, I realized that actually I've been taking the hormones I was prescribed (because mine were low) previously completely wrong. I have described how I was taking them to at least three different medical professionals (five, if you count my parents), and no one said, "Wait. That doesn't sound right." I was literally just looking at my period tracker app and happened to see something that made it click. Public education sex education combined with parents who just gave me a bunch of books on puberty at work.
So I guess I need to try taking those correctly for a few months, wean off the antianxiety medication, and see if that fixes the issue I got the antianxiety medication for. I would just rather not be on a mood stabilizer long-term unless I have to be, especially since I don't like it when people take medicine they don't need and cause shortages for people that actually need it. Is that likely to happen with this medicine that seems common enough that my cat takes it once a day? No. But still. I'd feel bad.
And I went to that psychiatry appointment and was told that I don't need to see a psychiatrist again unless the antianxiety meds stop working. So that's good--I don't have to spend an obscene amount of money and try to work a weekly appointment into my schedule. I'm still trying to decide if I should go see the counselor my pastor recommended. Four visits sounds doable, and even though I feel a lot better on this medication, the things that were upsetting me are still, you know...real things that are bothering me. I just don't spend every waking moment focusing on them until my uterus attempts to actually get me killed anymore. So it might be worth trying.
In other news, I am still watching Bones. I would watch an entire series about Caroline Julian. She is fantastic. Also also, thank goodness that none of the defense attorneys I work with look like Ernie Hudson. Can you imagine? "Can you read back the last question?" "Sorry I was too busy staring at Counsel's face."
Frankly, the courtroom episodes so far are the worst. I don't care about accuracy (hello, I play Ace Attorney), but they're really BORING.

my thoughts on! phoenix wright ace attorney! (very rambly)
WHAT A GOOD GAME!!!! i really liked it!! the art was soo nice and the music was so cute, characters were charming and quirky and the court cases were ehdbfnsjcnsjxnskkd those were very good too. the first two cases were fine, the third case threw me for a loop especially towards the end (i still dont completely get how we deducted + proved that jack hammer was trying to kill the producer and like did hammer kill that guy 5 years ago by accident or what and WHY if it was an accident it had to be covered up I DONT KNOWWW whatever whatever ive made peace with that trial), and the fourth case Owhhh that was so dramatic... and GOOD.... von karma being a MURDERER was surprising and not something im like super awesomely on board with, not cuz its not well-written or whatever but kinda just like.. how do i say it. like 'wow really???' almost convenient in the sense like wow the prosecutor getting on our nerves Actually Is a bad guy but also it brings a lot of nuance to the story?? which is very interesting?!
ill circle back to this idea of nuance but like looking at phoenix's backstory with the lunch money, i really liked how disarming it was bc it initially seemed like something thats very trivial etc etc but when it explained itself more, it ended up really effectively illustrating how devastating it is to be accused of something you didnt do, how your livelihood and reputation can be ruined and whatnot, and why proof is so important, and why mia's ideology of 'believe in your client' is so important.. but then back to the fourth case, we then learn that edgeworth had essentially accused yanni yogi of something he didnt do without definitive proof, thus ruining his whole life (obvs the blame isnt entirely on him but still), and how throughout the entire game phoenix is pinning the blame on other suspects until he hits the mark, which is morally dubious.. i like it! theres so much nuance and moral greyness, which is so interesting; like with all these bizarre characters and the comedy and everything, this game does feel like a deliberate mockery of the legal system, with how EVERY SINGLE witness commits perjury and a less than competent gumshoe and a judge that biases towards the prosecutors, and how that gets ramped all the way up to 11 in the final case; as i finished the fourth case and was mistakenly thinking that this was the end of the game, i was thinking 'oh, in the newer titles i hope the court gets put under more scrutinity cuz there were many hints of corruption throughout the game with grossberg's bribery and that crazy purple man and Von Karma', then BAM case 5 smacks my face with all of that.
hoo boy case 5... i searched it up and it was as i thought, this was the one case that was actually designed for the ds while the first four were made for an older system (gba). cuz i was like woah 3d models... okkkk. i cant say i have the clearest judgement of case 5 cuz i have a detriment called Playing A Game For 12 Hours Straight, which is what i did as i wrapped up this case which really fried my brain.. but anyways yes wowww that case was tough. it was at this point i turned on an 'infinite objections' cheats cuz yeah no way was i figuring this out under 5 penalties, and saving and reloading was a pain in the ass to do. also was not a fan of the SHEER AMOUNT of evidence i had in that case like jesusssss dude.. no cuz in the last trial shit was really difficult cuz there were so many possible things i could say, i hope in future games evidence is organized better + theres a case summary tab of sorts cuz wow that was a Long Case and part of why i played this case for 12 straight hours was bc i might end up forgetting a detail thats not in the court record but i would need to know in order to progress the case (like fucking case 3 t-bone bullshit..... the plate in my court record is a completely different plate why am i just meant to remember that the plate in studio 2 was completely empty u motherfuckaaaa). but yeah it was super super cool to see the vulnerabilities of the court come under the fire, all the behind the scenes corruption coming into light and it was awesome having wright and edgeworth be ultra epic yaoi warriors unveiling the truth together. very awesome. i really like this line:
its a lot to think about, especially in regards to the capabilities of the court and whether the truth and justice and the law are compatible, with how the last two cases were heavily involved with former cases which had rulings that didnt uncover the entire truth, and how these suppressed truths came back with a vengeance. im soooo super excited to read about the real world inspiration behind this franchise and the various criticisms against the japanese legal system and just the various weaknesses of legal systems in general.
and i like ema!!!!! she was so sweet and thank fucking god we finally have forensics, even if its ds gimmicks forensics at least its something. it was very neat how even though she played the same role as maya, she stood out as her own different character, not just by being an 'opposite' of maya with the science spiritual contrast, but ema was a lot more ditzy and like.. both maya and ema were genki girls who were wright's emotional support teenage girls, but maya was slightly more level-headed, ema was more 'logical' but more 'panicked' in a sense. idk how to describe it well but the two had differences beyond their capabilities and circumstances, and it was really neat bc it demonstrated how fleshed out the various characters are, theres many characters who are similar to one another in a way (larry and gumshoe, edgeworth and von karma, etc), yet theres just enough to meaningfully set them apart beyond their character designs and functions. the character writing is just so neat! despite the characters' bizarreness there was still so much depth and genuinely striking emotions which kept the entire game very captivating.
MAYA!!! i love maya a lot. im so happy she got to be her own character and had her own doubts and struggles, i think her leaving at the 'end' of the game was the best thing ever for her character, very touching and i loved how i had to tell her HOLD IT! before she left, very sweet.... it was great to see both her and wright grow out of mia's shadow, i liked how her spiritual capabilities werent treated disrespectfully at any point cuz the supernatural is real af #GhostBeliever but yes she was a very awesome character 🥰 i cant wait to see her again and i BETTER fucking see her again and SOON..
also ive made several jokes already abt edgeworth wright yaoi bla bla bla but genuinely OMGGG bro... their setup is genuinely so good shit has me gushing like WOAH!!!! it is so DRAMATIC it is so ROMANTIC it is so GOOD!!!! becoming an attorney to be with your childhood friend except they end up being a PROSECUTOR and you guys are OPPONENTS and like WORUHSHJFK!!!! they were your defense attorney as a child so now youre their defense as an adult and fucking "Edgeworth… I'll be waiting for you in court" LIKE BITCH!!!! not to mention edgeworth is a Professional tsundere like he does this shit PROFESSIONALLY like HOLY SHIT!!!! it feels like its been so long since ive had such like straight cut romantic drama like this tension is so palpable and dramatic i am just SOOO excited to see where this relationship goes cuz this shit is sooo crazy. this setup is crazy good and nuts and like wow.. WOWWW i like this a lot. i <3 ROMANTIC DRAMA. and i really like the tension building up to the 4th case where this really blows over like we just gets tidbits and hints of how the two knew each other throughout the game and then everything fits into place so satisfyingly like thats awesome i love this
general gameplay speaking i have some issues which is to be expected cuz this is an old af game from 2005, wish i could skip text ive already seen and look at previous text boxes etc etc etc, im hopeful that these get fixed up in future titles cuz game devs strive for perfection so i #Trust future titles will be better in that regard, but that aside ive said this already but the mic function is literally sooo funny to me 😭 i played most of this game lying in my bed and there were many times where im too lazy to touch the screen w my left hand so id just press the y button and mumble speak into the mic which is a hilarious option to have 😭 i hope this isnt just a onetime gimmick and i get to do this in other games, cuz yelling out OBJECTION at the very end of the game was soooo so funny
also one last thing. in the last trial of the last case edgeworth just brought up a completely random case from the past and the judge just let him do that SMHHHH cuz god forbid i say anything off topic or i get fucking kicked out 🙄🙄🙄 bitch!!
anyways I FINISHED THE GAME YAYYYY!!!

The Great Ace Attorney Playthrough: The Adventure of the Runaway Room (Part 2a)
Last Time: We stuck it to the Jury and snatched victory back from the jaws of defeat… only for things to start going wrong after an overcharging Beppo set our passenger theory up in flames! However, all was not lost! By simply calling Mr McGilded to the stand we were able to find out that we were right! …And that’s when the smoke bomb went off and I disappeared for a year…
Wow guys, it’s been a long time huh! Just over a year in-fact according to my notes. We’ve probably all learnt some things about ourselves during this time, for instance I’ve learnt that my kidney’s cant absorbed magnesium properly... which explains a lot. It turns out that your body and mind actually need vital salts to do a lot of things. Things like having the energy and brain capacity to play a lawyer simulator (to pick an example at random).
I’m now full of magnesium supplements, but while I’m getting back onto form and working out how much to take a day, I think I’ll be posting these once a week rather than my old schedule of: as soon as I can rattle them out. This way I won’t burn myself out!
Anyway, enough rambling on, let's play some Ace Attorney!
God it’s good to be back! I would say that I hope I’ve not lost my gameplaying skills, but looking at how many people I’ve falsely accused, I don’t think I had any.
Now, where were we… oh that’s right, evacuated from the courtroom because our client’s probably a murderer!
(I mean as I said, I’ve shot wrong before, so hopefully I’ve shot wrong again.)
What I really need to do though is talk to Mr McGilded. I’ve jumped the gun enough times this game I’d be happy to chalk my suspicions up to that...
So, we didn’t get that much time out of the courtroom, which begs the question: why drop the smoke grenade at all? There’s not enough time to ‘find’ more evidence, and from what I could see he didn’t try and make a run for it. So what’s it done other than raise a big red flag over his head?
I’ve got a hunch...
Ah. I think I know why the smoke grenade was let off now. And I’ll be honest it really doesn’t help in convincing me that Mr McGilded’s innocent.
We’d needed to produce the mysterious third party if we were going to get Mr McGilded off the hook. If Mr McGilded arranged for them to cause a scene and try and flee, they’d not only be found, but they’d have as good as confessed to the murder.
Yep, it’s the mysterious third party.
Yeah, there are a lot of things I want to ask him about too.
Oh, apparently he’s been summoned to the prosecutor's office.
Fucking typical, even out of the courtroom Barok still manages to be a massive inconvenience.
Also, what’s he doing there without me, his lawyer, anyway?
Wait, the third party’s in there too!
Again I feel like I, his defense attorney, should really be a part of this.
I have a terrible feeling she was bribed to be here...
I mean let’s face it, if anyone’s going to be susceptible to bribes it’s going to be the starving child who’s dependent on money to get her next meal.
Is it the fact that our client clearly singled for what happened?
Because I’ll be honest Susato, that's what’s troubling me!
Ah no, it’s the fact the money for the passengers is all accounted for now we know about Beppo’s swindling ways.
I’m guessing she was a stowaway then, hiding in that space under the seat.
Either way, we’re not going to know what the hell is going on until the prosecution decides to throw us a bone.
Ah well, let’s go see what the hell is going on in there...
She could definitely fit in the space under the seat. She looks about Mr McGilded’s height too, and she’s wearing a hat.
So she might have military connections then.
She’s not saying anything...
Her face is hidden, so I can’t work out if she’s just keeping her mouth shut, or if she’s too scared to speak.
Yes, speak Mr McGilded, and please make what you have to say good enough to convince me I’ve gone on another wild goose chase.
Please do.
So apparently, it connects to the events of the murder.
(Yes Ryunosuke, call them out on their bullshit.)
Anyways, Mr McGilded fell asleep at the back of the omnibus, before being woken up by a thud and a scream. Opening his eyes, he found Mr Mason collapsed on the floor, so he popped him back on his seat and saw that the scream had come from a child, curled up and hidden away.
...
Well there’s a lot to unpack here.
Like why was Mr McGilded’s reaction to WAKING UP TO A BODY to calmly pop it back in its seat.
And was the kid curled up in on the seat, or was she under it?
Also why is there no blood on the floor?
You know what, let’s start with this baffling reaction to a corpse.
Yeah that’s the right reaction.
Not when there’s been a murder! When there’s been a murder, it’s just tampering with the scene of the crime!
I can’t believe I’m with Barok on this one… I feel like I’ve reached a new low…
Remember when I addressed my dear client, whose case I (Ryunosuke) needed to win in order to be allowed to practice law? I said: Please prove me wrong, because I think you might have committed murder…
Well he’s currently doing the opposite of that…
Ok, this might be interesting. He’s talking about finding out the ‘whys and wherefores’ before trying call someone. I wonder if he thought there was something more going on than: someone with little regard for human life wants Mr McGilded out of the way.
My mistake! He’s just talking about the terrified 15 year old who was probably under the seat!
(Yep, definitely under the seat.)
Don’t worry Susato, I’ve already done it!
I’m sorry, YOU SAT HER NEXT TO A CORPSE!?!
That’s the right reaction!
I fail to see what this has to do with you sitting a kid next to a still bleeding dead body! She was already hiding underneath a gore free seat! Why not use that one?!?
Anyway, putting aside my outrage and focusing on the case at hand: Mr McGilded then heard Mr Furst scream, because he’d looked down to see the scene we spent the last cross examination picking at. Like we guessed, it seems that he saw our teenage stowaway sitting next to the victim, rather than Mr Mason, while Mr McGilded was sat in the seat at the back, out of sight.
Well that clears everything up! …except for the fact that stowaway girl still hasn’t said anything.
We’re only minutes into the second part of this case, and I’ve still got a nasty feeling about Mr McGilded I just can’t shake.
(Editor's note: Oh my god I can send things from my switch to my iPad, this is going to save me SO MUCH WORK! Anyway, these are all screenshots of my own gameplay now.)
I don’t think any of us did Ryunosuke. I thought I’d be getting a cheery romp of a third case to lift my spirits before things got serious… but that doesn’t look like it’ll going to happen does it.
(Also we might have to convict another terrified child!)
Ok, that was quite funny!
Hmm, Susato’s talking about investigating the omnibus again. I think I’ve pressed everything we should need clarifying on so maybe I actually need to. Besides, I haven’t seen the insides in forever, and while I’ve re-read my other live-blogging posts as a refresher, it’s probably a good idea to reacquaint myself with the evidence.
Ok, hold up… was that there before? I’m pretty sure the floor was spotless… but did I just not notice?
Like, I’m not a particularly observant person so perhaps… but something really doesn’t seem right here…
Yep, it’s new.
Oh shit. This was the reasons for the smoke bomb wasn’t it?
It wouldn’t have been enough to just have the kid bolt and be caught suspiciously. Mr McGilded needed the courtroom to be evacuated so the kid he’s controlling (or maybe even he himself) could tamper with the evidence.
Because it’s bad Ryunosuke…
Oh crap, he’s cleaned out the compartment too.
Why though? There already seemed to be space in there for the child to fold themselves. Unless there’s something incriminating in there? Maybe that button from the victim’s jacket was in there after all?
Well, there’s bugger all we can do now, so let’s just fall back on the Ace Attorney trick of pressing everything we can...
Ok, we don’t seem to have got much out of the pressing, except to get Mr McGilded to clearly state that the omnibus was empty when he got on. I feel like we already knew that, but nevertheless, I’m sure his certainty will come back to help us later.
Yes, let's move on and get to the good stuff!
Hern name is Gina Lestrade! A Sherlock Holmes name! If I remember rightly Lestrade’s was detective. I wonder if that’s the path Gina here will be on? Or maybe she’s connected to Herlock in some way?
Didn’t Sherlock Holmes have an urchin gang that helped him out sometimes? Maybe she does something similar for our Herlock?
Nope! She’s a pickpocket! Still, I suppose that doesn’t rule the second option out.
This does explain why she’s quite so good at holding her tongue though, especially in the face of the law.
(Also, it is very funny to watch her blank the Judge)
SHE’S GOT A GUN!!!
SHE SHOT THE JUDGE WITH A BATHBOMB!!!
Editor’s Note: Look my screenshots aren’t all going to be winners, OK?
AND SHE’S DISAPPEARED!!!
THIS IS AMAZING!!!
Oh no, she’s not done a runner, she’s just showing off!
Style Ryunosuke!
F them up Gina!
I love her!
Look, Kazuma’s dead, Hosonaga’s gone back to Japan, and I have no idea where Herlock is… Gina do you want this friendship bracelet I’ve made?
It doesn’t hurt people much Ryunosuke!
Oh my god she stole it from Herlock!
These hijinks have gone on for too long, the Judge seems to say. Go back to facing hard truths and probably defending the wicked, he seems to say.
Well fine! But I’m not going to enjoy it… except I will definitely do that…
(See, Gina gets me!)
So, it looks like the omnibuses were something of a regular haunt for Gina. Though apparently this time she got nothing from her efforts. I wonder if that’s because Mr McGilded was on top of her seat the whole time so she couldn’t get out?
Also, it was pitched black inside, and the sound of the body hitting the deck was loud enough and sudden enough to make her involuntarily scream.
To be honest, as much as I love Gina, I’m not sure I believe that the noise of someone falling out of their seat would be enough to startle her. Perhaps she saw the crime being committed? But then either she’s lying about not being able to see anything, or she must have been able to lift the seat when he hit the floor (ergo, Mr McGilded wasn’t sat on it).
Either way my suspicion of Mr McGilded is definitely growing, and his smug, confident face up there isn’t exactly filling me with confidence.
Come on Mangus, this is it! Endear me to you and show me literally anything that makes me feel better about defending you!
He’s not throwing her under the omnibus like I expected… and he’s actually using facts and reason to show her innocence.
Maybe there’s hope for my (Ryunosuke’s) future after all!
Aaaand we’re looking at the compartment he almost certainly cleared out…
I still come back to asking why though.
Like I feel like Gina could curl herself into that space, and we couldn’t find any evidence among the stuff that was there.
God I want to believe this. The problem is that I just don’t anymore. I really hope that this is just me crying wolf again, and that I’m going to have another beloved character I have to apologies to… but I really don’t think I am…
Also, if he is guilty where does that leave Ryunosuke?
He’s either going to have to let a guilty man who buys his way through life go free, probably convicting another innocent person in the process (I’d love to avoid another Adrian Andrews situation if I can)… or he’s going to have to find another bargain that will let him continue practicing law.
And he’s a Japanese immigrant, they aren’t just going to hand him one on a silver platter. Even if he is the main character, he’d probably end up stuck under someone’s thumb (Strongheart perhaps), or having to look for some back-door way in.
Either way it’s not going to be great for him.
Anyway, we’ve convinced Juror Number 1 to change his verdict!
I mean given that a slight breeze changes this man’s standing, it’s nothing really to write home about…
But still. One step closer to victory!
Wait, she’s changing as well! But doesn’t that mean…
Six for Six!
SIX FOR SIX!
SIX FOR SIX!!
VIIIIICCCCCTTTOOOOOOOORRRYYYYYYYYY!!!
(Well apart from the fact that there are still about a mile of questions, the killers still at large, and we feel nowhere near done…)
Leg SLAM!
Ok Barok let’s hear it.
Look Barok, if you’re going to say he’s a cad, we already know that…
Also, to be frank you’re the last person who should be calling people out on that.
Ok, so he’s also noticed the mysterious case of the missing luggage.
I would be mad, but frankly I knew this was coming when I opened the omnibus and saw it had been tampered with.
So right now, frankly, I just want to find out what the hell this is all about!
I mean we’ve come to the same conclusion; I’ll give him that much.
And to think, only last session he was barely able to follow our chat about the bloody gloves!
Now how do I answer this?
On one hand, I’ve played enough Ace Attorney to know that, ultimately, attempting to: conceal, mask, alter or hide from the truth, doesn’t end well. Especially when you’re a lawyer. It’s a bad time.
On the other hand, I (Ryunosuke) am a defence attorney. It’s my duty to defend my client in the best I can… but is the best way to lie though?
So, directly contradicting Barok is out, and anyway, if it comes down to my word against his… and let’s be honest here, I (Ryunosuke), the Japanese immigrant, am not going to win that one. I’ll just paint myself in a bad way and make everyone even more against me than they already are.
Maybe I could say I didn’t look though?
It’s less of a lie than flat out denying it (can they prove I did), and I wouldn’t be going directly against Judges favorite Barok, or my client…
I did look though…
Also, it’ll make me look incompetent.
… plus, I don’t think it’s a good idea and I don’t think we should do it…
Would Ryunosuke feel the same though?
I mean I am playing as him, so I’d like to act as he would.
Actually I just remembered the last case, and I think that he would. I also think that, unlike me he wouldn’t have hesitated as much.
Let’s do it!
Oh dear, Mr McGilded isn’t happy. Perhaps we can style this out enough for him to convince Strongheart he should give us a job anyway?
(She said hopefully)
And Barok’s, amazingly, not happy either.
Ok Ryunosuke, here’s your time to talk about truth!
Uhh… let’s try and inspire a bit more confidence Ryunosuke…
Yeah alright, that’ll do it!
Barok finds it interesting. I think that means we passed.
Mr McGilded however…
Yeah...
You know I thought the same thing myself.
(God I hope I haven’t screwed this up…)
He’s putting the squeeze on us!
Ryunosuke, you beautiful individual, there is SO MUCH THAT IS NOT RIGHT!
Oh Juror Number 5’s going to clear this up. I can’t believe he’s actually pulling his weight for once!
I mean, he was swindling his customers, and you’re clearly drinking in court… all I’m saying is I wouldn’t put much faith in the responsibility of your coach company.
Oh, and he’s changed his verdict to guilty!
Wonderful!
(I don’t even know if I’m being sarcastic now or not)
And there goes Juror Number 3 as well, closely followed by Number 4!
Oh, how quickly these people turn!
And Ryunosuke is as fed up with them as I am!
Yeah, yeah Barok. We know. We dug ourselves away from victory and snatched defeat from it’s jaws. Let’s just get on with it shall we!
The right thing? …Maybe?
I mean I think we helped. Quite a lot actually.
Anyway, back to cross examination.
So, Gina says that after she heard the thud, the seat above her lightened up because Mr McGilded had got up sit Mr Mason on the seat opposite. Apparently she knows that’s what happened because she immediately lifted the seat up a little so she could have a peak. (Or a ‘butcher’s’ if you're speaking in Cockney Rhyming Slang!)
Unfortunately for her, her ‘butcher’s’ meant that Mr McGilded could spot her and dragged her out into the open.
She’s also saying that she cleared out the coach gear and crammed it in there before the omnibus set off. Which is clearly a lie because we saw it there earlier. But evidence is everything and we have no proof.
Also poor Ryunosuke is really struggling to keep up with the Cockney Rhyming Slang. Something deliberately designed to make it difficult for anyone not in the know to follow what you were saying.
Like he is literally doing everything in a second language, and now the person opposite him is literally peppering her sentences with criminal code. I’m struggling to remember what some of these words mean and I am Cockney, I live in London, I studied this at school!
What I’m trying to say is: Hang in their buddy! I believe in you!
(I am finding it quite funny though that reading Gina’s Cockney Accent is starting to make the Cockney notes of my accent bob back up to the surface. I mostly grew out of it when I was a kid, so it’s really weird reading a fictional person’s dialogue can spike it up!)
Anyway, Gina seems to be claustrophobic, which raises the question of why she was in there at all, especially if she was squeezed in there amongst the rope and brushes and all that. She says that it’s out of necessity, so maybe that’s all there is to it. Still, it might be something it’s worth remembering.
Yeah… it definitely seems like I should remember it…
Anyway so let’s get back to how our dear client, Mr McGilded, dragged this child out of her hiding place, sat her next to a corpse, and then-THE CARRIAGE LURCHED THE CORPSE ON TOP OF HER!?!
OH GOD!
That’s it! Gina I’m taking you into care! Please come and sit next to me and my other child Sebastian. He’s a good kid, please don’t pick on him.
Anyway, we’ve now accounted for the bloodied hands Mr Furst and Mr Fairplay saw from the roof. They must have looked down while she was being interrogated by Mr McGilded.
Well that was nice of him wasn’t it!
And I’m sure you came along today, armed with a smoke bomb you dropped on his signal, because you wanted to pay him back for his kindness!
(If you can’t tell, I’m not buying it.)
I think it’s this whole damn affair Ryunosuke.
Anyway, I’m pretty sure Gina talking about small, cramped spaces made Mr McGilded over there swallow a lung, so let’s hop on top of that.
Sure you do.
Look, you clearly don’t relate to her enough to not use her. Which you are definitely doing. Like literally right now.
Yeah, this is exactly what he was trying on with us earlier.
(And Gina isn’t at all acting like she’s being steered.)
I’m going to be honest with you Ryunosuke, whatever she says will be 100% in Mr McGilded’s favour and probably contrived.
Look at him standing smugly next to her… prick.
I’ll be honest with you, I (me) have no idea what about her probably contrived statement is useful to us. But my god I’ve played enough Ace Attorneys to know the answer here!
GET THEIR ASS RYUNOSUKE!
(Catch me, trying to look like I haven’t been doing that since we got here.)
Well let’s press the new statement while I try and work out what it’s about.
I’VE GOT IT!
GINA SHOULD HAVE HEARD THE DOOR OPENING WHEN MR MASON BORDED!
But if she didn’t, and we can get her to confirm this, then the only option is that he got onboard with Mr McGilded!
Which both suggests that Mr McGilded purposely met with the victim, and means that, what with Gina also saying he got on alone, there’s a massive contradiction in her testimony.
Basically she’s definitely lied about something.
Get off my tailcoats van Zieks!
Anyway, now to simply present a picture of Mr Mason and I’m sure I can trust Ryunosuke to explain the rest.
GET THERE ASSESS RYUNOSUKE! (I knew I could count on you.)
Thank you for that obvious lie Mr McGilded, it has now been stated before the court and will come back to bite you in the ass promptly.
Well then, he should have said something before now shouldn’t he? Rather than expecting the defense to do the prosecutions job for him.
Wow that’s a silent rain of guilty there!
Editor’s note: and basically unscreenshotable, however I do it!
… I feel like Juror Number 6 has seen and done some shit in her time…
CAN IT JUROR NUMBER 1!
THANK YOU SUSATO I CAN SEE THAT!
SHUT UP BAROK!
Ok Ryunosuke, only Juror Number 2 is left. Frankly it’s a miracle she hasn’t changed her verdict already. Given that she is almost certainly going this way, I suggest we get ready to demand another summation examination so we can sway these thickle fucks back!
(Pluss it means we get to push the Prosecution Shut Up button.)
Ok, I’m pretty sure Mr McGilded just said something racist, so he’s still finding ways to limbo under that low bar I keep readjusting for him.
Also Juror Number 3 is back licking his knife again, while saying concerning things about loving carnage. So that’s also happening now…
Well Juror Number 2 looks like she’s about to unsurprisingly change her stance to guilty, and frankly this time I don’t blame them. Mr McGilded’s own defence just fired cannonballs through this credibility.
Oh, ok! Ryunosuke seems to think we can win this back before we get to summation time.
Fair enough I suppose, we were barley granted the first one.
Shut up Mr McGilded, can’t you see that I (Ryunosuke) am trying to wiggle you away from death now! Like fair enough it was me who put you there in the first place, but even so you need me to keep talking.
(Side not though, I find it curious that Mr McGilded doesn’t want me to pursue this line of enquiry even though the horse has well and truly bolted. Does he have some trick that will only work if they don’t know he got on with Mr Mason? Or does Gina’s lie actually revile more that I though?)
We stop her! Nice one Ryunosuke!
Ok!
Wait, none of these options are ‘he came in with Mr McGilded’?
Well I guess Mr Mason and Gina could have entered the cabin together? He didn’t look very well off and he was in debt, so perhaps the two of them were in cahoots? Like Mr Mason pays the money and then Gina immediately lifts it back again?
Ok I’ll go for the first one!
MOCKED AND PENALISED!!!
Fine then! Let’s try another one!
Let’s see, I’ve crawled all over every inch of that cabin and I don’t think there was a secret way in. So maybe the point I’m supposed to be getting at is that he was already dead?
Perhaps it was him, not Gina who was under the seat? That might actually explain why Mr McGilded had the contents removed, perhaps he was worried it had traces of body on them, and perhaps he was right and that’s where we’ll find the missing button!
Ok number 3 it is!
THEY’RE LAUGHING ME OUT OF TOWN!
(And also penalising me again, so now I only have three lives left!)
Ok, we’ll say there was another way in then.
I’ll be honest Ryunosuke you’re on your own with this one. I have no idea what your plan is.
ARE ALL THESE ANSWERS SOMEHOW WRONG?!?
Oh no, something new’s happening!
OH COME ON! WHY MEEEEE!
Ok, let’s just relax and think this through.
We know it can’t be the door because the door never opened. We also know that it was the only door in the cabin’s four walls. Perhaps my under seat theory could come into that, but that’s not really a way into the cabin. In fact the only distinctive thing on this drawing that looks vaguely entrance like is the skylight.
I might be wrong, but for some reason I was under the impression that it couldn’t open?
Ah well, it’s literally the only idea I’ve got right now so I might as well go for it!
SUCCESS!
Ooh, actually that’s a good point. I did think the sound of someone falling to the floor wouldn’t be enough to make someone like Gina scream, but the sound of a body falling through the roof is another matter entirely.
Oh yeah, they would have…
Well, I guess we should call them up as witnesses again. Maybe we’ll find something in their statements that’ll open up a new possibility?
(Though I can’t imagine what that could be)
I don’t like this…
Ok, is this whole thing just a way for Mr McGilded to get rid of two clients who weren’t able to pay up, while being able to make himself out to look like the victim?
They came back to the stand!
AND MR FURST IS READY TO THROW DOWN!
GET HIS ASS MR FURST!
LOOK AT RYUNOSUKE’S FACE! THIS IS AMAZING!
Mr McGilded is loving this, and to be fair he isn’t the only one!
LET THEM SPEAK!
I can’t believe I’m agreeing with Jack the Ripper here. Dark times everybody.
SHUT UP JUROR NUMBER 1!
Ok, so this is something all the jury want. Well good, they’re finally taking their roll seriously.
Oh, neat voice acting!
Tes-ti-fy! Tes-ti-fy! Tes-ti-fy!
(Quick Ryunosuke, try and look like we weren’t also chanting)
Anyways, let's get cross examining!
Ok, so their statement (as I understand it), is that they were the only two people up on the roof deck, and definitely would have noticed if someone else had been there. They had absolutely no reason to kill Mr Mason, the skylight was shut the entire time they were there and they couldn’t have opened it. Also, they want proof.
Ignoring the request for proof for the moment, I could see them possibly missing Mr Mason if he was laying down on the seat in front. It was dark when they got on, and they would have been preoccupied with how cold it was up there… also the longer they spend up there the more I begin to feel that there’s some sort of romantic spark between the two of them. I’m definitely not going to bring that before the jury because they have already proven themselves to be true products of Victorian London, but I can’t be the only one who think that… right?
As for the proof they requested, I’ve got nothing and I’m probably going to have to guess wildly before the day is out.
Juror Number 4 still pulling her weight I see.
Also, I’m pretty sure she’s not said anything hateful while she’s been up there, so my offer for a breakaway court still stands. We can gossip about the nature of the witness's relationship there if you’d like, but none of the others are allowed to come.
Anyway, my own feelings aside, Barok has apparently looked into them and they definitely didn’t know each other before today.
Much like Phoenix had to be beaten up, accused of murder and nearly killed to learn to not go with Murderers into a private room and tell them you have evidence against you; it’s taking a man like Mr McGilded to teach Ryunosuke what it is to be manipulated and played like a fiddle. It’s harsh, but really, it’s something Mr I’LL BE MY OWN DEFENCE ATTORNEY needs to learn.
(Nothing to add here, I just enjoy this image)
Ooh, Ryunosuke’s on the same theory that I am! Truly our hearts beat as one.
I mean, I’m not sure that rules out the factor of darkness, but I suppose sleep is a good point to rule out.
That’s London Baby!
GET HIS ASS MR FURST!!!
It is interesting that they knocked on the door though. I wonder if they saw Mr Mason inside?
They did!
YEAH GET HIM!!! I’M RIGHT BEHIND YOU!!!
(Damn I wanted to see Mr Furst fully snap)
Not the one I know.
Well, Mr McGilded coughed up another lung at this statement, and while I’m hesitant to give him any more speaking room I probably should so he can inevitably trip himself up over his own words.
Ok, not the best start…
Don’t rise to it you idiot!
Well, there you go Mr Fairplay. Wel done, you just gave yourself a motive.
Yeah, what do you want to do with our single helpful witness?
Don’t come for him and his bad hats!
Yeah, he’s only an apprentice! I’m sure he’ll get better with time!
>:(
Yeah, the customers like it probably! It’s modern probably!
Wait what
Oh god, he has one of his hats!
I just thought he wasn’t doing to well so he’d patched it up himself!
(… Maybe Mr Furst should consider a new like of work after all…)
Oh Mr Furst, your shining transparency and shining beacon of truth has come back to hit you in the face!
Up until two minutes ago I couldn’t picture Mr Furst being physically capable of quarrelling, but now that I’ve seen his dukes I’m a little more willing to believe it. (I don’t though, obviously.)
Well at least he’s stopped talking now…
Yeah, worrying isn’t it.
Wait, is the latch on the outside?!
I’m pretty sure, now I’m looking for it, I can see it right there!
(Is the out of context ace attorney blog still around? Because if so this is gold dust for it.)
… Mr Furst… why are you telling us this?
It sure is.
… again Mr Furst... I don’t think we need to know this...
I’m not really sure to be honest.
Oh thank god there is a point!
Well I think the problem here is that he was on the inside of the cabin, whereas (and I just went in to check), the latch looking thing is only on the outside. I.e. it can’t be opened from within.
Ok, I think I’ve pressed everything now, and from what Susato just said and Mr Fairplay’s demand for proof, I’m guessing I should be presenting evidence.
The only things I can think of though are the Ledger, which connects Mr Fairplay to the crime, and the Omnibus itself. I still can’t open the skylight, so I’ll go with the Ledger first.
Aaand be penalized for it!
Now I have literally one life left, so it’s probably an idea to make sure I’ve saved now before I try the omnibus… aaand it’s a good thing I did because I was just penalised again!
Well let’s return to the last save and not do that then. Side note though, it’s a nice touch how all the Jurors have their own spoken Guilty!
Right, I have literally no idea what to do now, so I’m going to scrabble around with the evidence for a bit, and probably get guilty a bunch until something happens. Because that’s not very interesting to write or read, I think I’ll end this write up here for now and pick the next one up once I’ve figured it out. Till next time everybody!

Biweekly Media Roundup
- The Sandman (TV) - Netflix I am begging you for a season 2 please.
- Monster High (Movie) - While the Monster High franchise definitely sounds right up my ally, I was a bit too late to experience its heyday and never really got into it. I’ve always been curious though so this G3 reboot seems like a good time to check it out, with an introductory live action movie and an upcoming TV show with some pretty cute looking animation. The movie was cute, very original Disney channel-ish, I doubt I’d recommend it to anyone but I had fun. Frankie in particular was a standout, both in the movie and cartoon/doll line they have a great design and I liked most of their fashion-Also, nonbinary rep in kids media! Very cool.
- Breath Of The Wild (Video Game) - Playing this game as free therapy, the relaxing vibes are what I’m here for.
- Golden Kamuy (Anime) - Glad to be back, this season should have some of my favorite arcs and scenes. Vasily is here and very cute as well, love his little Ogata fanart.
- Mob Psycho 100 (Anime) - Yes.
- Spy X Family (Anime) - Still super cute!
- Hollow Knight (Video Game) - Started a playthrough and man. The gap between the adorable designs and hauntingly lovely visuals and the actual lore of this game sure is something. Little Ghost can go right next to Kirby in the “adorable non-verbal game protagonists who can and have killed Gods.”
- Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-Kun (Anime) - It’s back! It’s so unbelievably nice to get some good wholesome monster content, I missed all these characters and I’ve heard the upcoming arc is a lot of fun so looking forward to it.
- Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint (Webnovel) - Yup.
This season is pretty stacked, I’m also keeping up with Lower Decks, Ace Attorney, Jojo’s, Last Week Tonight, and Made in Abyss
Listening to: Right Where You Left Me by Taylor Swift, House of Memories by Panic! At The Disco, Ultraluminary cover by Caleb Hyles, Cut To The Feeling by Carly Rae Jepsen, Reprobate Romance by Blacklisted Me, The Bones by Maren Morris and Hozier, Venus by Sleeping At Last, People Watching by Conan Gray, Bones by Imagine Dragons, A Good Song Never Dies by Saint Motel

my turn to cry - thoughts on 3-1b
ok this has actually gotta be my favorite chapter cause holy shit so much stuff happened.
I played the Alice/kanna route and afterwards I watched a vod with the reko/shin route in which ranmaru and naomichi died before the banquet, so BIG SPOILER WARNING FOR BOTH ROUTES
Mafia Princess Sara??: Ok so first off, back in the beginning of 2020, I had a theory that Sara was a mafia heiress and that the death game was supposed to be something to “prepare” her. And that her memories were wiped or she was initially supposed to be kept blind to this whole thing (In 3-1a when everybody saw the consent form for the very first time everybody felt a sense of deja vu, except for Sara. Because why would they need her consent when she is the sole focus of the game and it’s all for her) This theory was mainly supplied by my confusion surrounding the hiring of Kai, cause why would mr Chidouin hire a former assassin to protect her?? How did he even know Kai??? But yeah, the whole thing with Shinobu Gokujo and deciding a new don through a death game just adds a lil more validity to this theory.
Sara’s real father: I also had a mini theory that Gashu Satou was her real father, but that was mostly cause of their hair color and how it would def make Sara’s hair color make more sense genetics-wise (but kai has black hair, so its most likely that his mother had black hair, which would also disprove this mini-theory but yk im not here to prove it just talk about it). And that Gashu knew of Mr. Chidouin and gave Sara to him, and it would also explain why mr Chidouin chose Kai of all people to look after her and why Kai could only watch her from a distance, in case she realized the truth that he was her brother/half-brother or something.
GREENBLINGS CANON AAAAAAAA: I love this, I love this so much oh my god. Now I can replay and cry after 2-2 cause nankidai hates us :’). I dont have an issue with this specifically, I’m just a bit bothered by how the whole thing went. There was some buildup yea, and the cg with kanna, kugie, and shin was amazing. And that lil bit about nice hallucinations made me tear up a bit. But, then everybody kinda just moved on? and idk this whole chapter was a fuckign roller coaster I could barely keep up.
Autistic Gin <3: I’m autistic myself and I have seen many characters who are autistic-coded or exhibit many signs of autism but have never been straight up confirmed (Ex: Vera Misham from Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney). And even then, these characters usually share similar personality traits like being aloof and reserved. So it’s nice to see that Gin is representing autism in a relatively realistic manner with his hyperfixations, vocal tics, and issues with socializing. Even after nearly dying like 17 times he’s still doing well and I genuinely wish for his survival and happiness.
Ranmaru’s death: Both of Ranmaru’s deaths, (if you or if you don’t fail the electricity absorption minigame) the death feels so... off? I was really attached to him as a character, yet his death didn’t impact as much as Joe’s or Nao’s did. During his Banquet death, one second he had his really cute smiling sprite but then whoops oh no guys weird drill screw thing kills him (again). I still can barely comprehend it because it all just happened so fast. Like no cg or anything. I was honestly kinda disappointed. The “delayed” one does a better job at his death scene, but again, it was wayyy too quick and completely dismissed as everybody just moves on to defeat Maple 2.0. I at least would’ve appreciated a better transition than Midori just saying “well anyways–”
Ranmaru’s extremely quick descent into madness in the shin route: I actually liked this idea of Ranmaru willing to go to such extremes for Sara. However, theres barely time for any of this to develop? Like again, everything just happens so fast??? I would've definitely liked if there were little hints around before the body discovery that ranmaru was gonna do something like this, just a little time for development would really be cool.
Mr. Policeman/Mr. Tazuna???: After I finished, I actually looked on the wiki to see if it said anything about his son that he mentioned and I found this:
But yeah thats cool
The thing about Q-taro: I’m gonna say it now, I’ve liked Q-taro ever since the aftermath of 1-2, and Q-taro haters have added absolutely nothing to this fandom. Everybody saw him as a child-hater, I see him as a guy who’ll do anything to survive and succeed. I mean that wish is kinda what got him into the death game. And yeah he did try to leave that one time, but that’s what getting thrown into traumatic killing games does for you, most people don’t want to die, they want to live, no matter what it takes. We can’t all be the main character and choose to cooperate with everybody and be the “good” person in that situation. Even Sara has those extremely selfish moments and those intrusive thoughts of winning and leaving.
This whole thing should also be applied to Ranmaru. Ranmaru has gone through so much shit in such a brief amount of time, to the point where he was considering to/actually kill people to escape with the one person he trusted in this hellhole. In that situation, Sara’s kinda at fault here, cause without Joe she’s lost her sense of morality which resulted in her becoming selfish and well... honestly kinda toxic. This emotional manipulation is really what set Ranmaru off, however it was 100% his decision to fucking kill somebody and murder’s bad. Still love him though.
But back to Qtaro, I really enjoyed the extra substance given to him in this chapter, it’s nice to see the development from being selfish to feeling deep remorse to protecting the dolls of the first trial victims, most notably Mai. As he completely forgives her for stabbing him. The chapter did a great job at fueling my already intense love for Q-taro (and it actually convinced my best friend who claims to hate Q-taro with every bone of her body to like him too!) I also love the father-son dynamic between him and Gin. I find this relationship to be really important cause Gin’s father is an abusive alcoholic and Q-taro’s an orphan who’s never had a proper role-model in his life. So it’s beautiful that despite not having anybody there for him when he was younger he can still be a good figure for another child.
Predictions/hopes for the next part:
I just want to see whether Shin already knew about Kanna being his sister, and if he doesn’t I want a reveal. Right. Now.
A Ranmaru/Joe/Q-taro/Kai/ “Hinako” revival, p l e a se they died so soon
More info about the people involved in the Hades Incident/Shinobu Gokujo
More info regarding Meister
Sara going on Maury
Who tf is “Hinako”????
I really hope that there isn't any specific good/bad ending. Like I want every ending to be equally bad and good yk? like equal consequences and good stuff.
Yo wtf happened to Sara’s mom?? Is she gonna come back and play a more important role in the story?? Are her parents gonna come back as floor masters???
I want things to actually change depending on whether you picked Alice or reko, cause so far they’ve played extremely minor roles.

Not that anyone is interested in my shitty music tastes, but while playing Great Ace Attorney, I had a lot of moments where it would make me think of a specific song, so I made those into a playlist! Some make sense, most don't, but check the source and the reblogs for the link! Set list and specific lyrics under the jump.
1. I'm With You - Avril Lavinge
it's a damn cold night trying to figure out this life
won't you take me by the hand, take me somewhere new?
i don't know who you are, but i, i'm with you
2. Leaves From The Vine (Extended ver.) - Caleb Hyles (originally from Avatar: The Last Airbender)
leaves on the wind, where do they go?
they flutter, spin and drift along, dancing to the flow
little soldier boy, where is your home?
brave soldier boy, no longer home.
3. Go Tonight - The Mad Ones
so i sit in the vacuum you left behind
and i sift through each phrase for an ember
for a spark that will light cause i can't rewind
i unravel until i remember
4. Marjorie - Taylor Swift
i should've asked you questions, i should've asked you how to be
asked you to write it down for me
should've kept every grocery store receipt, cause every scrap of you would be taken from me
watched as you signed your name marjorie
all your closets of backlogged dreams,
and how you left them all to me
5. The Man - Taylor Swift
i'm so sick of running as fast as i can
wondering if i'd get there quicker if i was a man
and i'm so sick of them coming at me again
cause if i was a man, then i'd be the man
6. Sonya Alone - Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812
i know you've forgotten me,
i know you so well, my friend
i know you might just throw yourself over,
but i won't let you, i won't let you,
it's all on me.
7. Gravity - Sara Bareilles
you loved me cause i'm fragile
when i thought that i was strong
but you touch me for a little while
and all my fragile strength is gone
8. Who You Are - The Mountain Goats
i'm stuck in my confusion, but i know that you'll go far
you're chased by the horizon, because you know who you are
hope you remember who you are
9. The Sway - Brittain Ashford
close my eyes, wonder if it's ever enough to live you life in the simple sway of it
to the know the truth and be okay with it
hold it in your hands and walk away from it
i walked away
10. Break My Broken Heart - The King's Wife
none of this was ever easy,
i almost lost myself completely
i thought i knew what i was doing
why do i feel like i'm losing?
how could you do this?
11. Unravel - Jonathan Young (originally from Tokyo Ghoul)
we live in a world someone else imagined
the ghost of what's left of me all but vanished
remember my heart, how bright i used to shine
please, just don't forget me
12. X-Static Process - Madonna
jesus christ, will you look at me?
don't know who i'm supposed to be
don't really know if i should give a damn
when you're around, i don't know who i am
i always wished that i could find someone as beautiful as you
but in the process i forgot i was special too
13. Monster - Frozen the Musical
was i a monster from the start?
how did i end up with this frozen heart?
bringing destruction to the stage,
caught in a war that i never meant to wage.
do i kill the monster?
14. If I Were A Man - The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical
i guess as a lady there's just some things i'll never know
but if i were a man, i'd go to japan
maybe swim in the seine and learn to speak french
i'd have the whole world in the palm of my hand
i'd finally dow hat i could, but i can't
15. Home - Beetlejuice
mom?
i don't wanna forget you
i promise, i'm never gonna forget you
i'm gonna go back home
adam, barbara, delia, and dad
it's messy, but they're all that i have
i'll make the best of being flesh and bone
mama, i'm going home
16. Someone You'd Be Proud Of - The In-Between
it's time that i believe, expect i can achieve
and if i fail, at least i gave it all
it's time to choose what's right
instead of just to hide
maybe i can't change the world, but i can try
and do my best to be someone you'd be proud of
17. Nothing New - Taylor Swift
i know someday i'm gonna meet her in some fever dream
the kind of radiance you only have at 17
she'll know the way and then she'll say she got the map from me
i'll say i'm happy from her, then i'll cry myself to sleep
18. You'll Never Walk Alone - Josh Groban (originally from Carousel)
walk on, through the wind
walk on, through the rain
though your dreams be tossed and blown
walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
and toy'll never walk alone
19. Use Well The Days- Annie Lennox
i will take the hidden paths that run
west of the moon and east of the sun
i'm glad that you are here with me,
here at the end of all things
night too shall be beautiful and blessed and it's fear will pass
i must leave, must cross the sea
the love you gave is all i take with me
20. Hope Comes- The Bengsons
i'm gonna fall down on my knees
will you say help me please, help me please?
we can say we are not alright, we are not alright
we can help each other, help each other get through the night
cause hope comes fro the center of the hurt
in the middle of the dirt we'll plant a seed and watch it grow into something we don't already know
that's an act of living.

I am seized by a fatal need for courtroom ninja drama fic
But not serious courtroom drama. I'm talking Phoenix Wright style Nonsense.
(Some of this was provided by the folks over in @sloaners‘ server, but the bulk of it was me spitballing nonsense at people who actually know the games, which I do not. I do paraphrase a few times to make it more feasible as a tumblr post/fic concept, rather than a rapidfire text conversation.)
Or one of those like. Reality TV paternity test things? But specifically in my mind the people involved in the actual paternity are a married couple and someone that joined them to be their third, and Clan Elders are throwing a fit about how the baby might not be the heir by blood! while the actual parents are like "I could not care less, this is our child, all three of us, please stop getting involved."
HashiMitoMada would be a VERY good option for the paternity nonsense, mostly because I can see Madara screeching at his own elders about how he already said Izuna would be his heir and he's not changing his mind!
Tobirama is just begging the paternity test to work faster off-screen because he's the only person with the machines to make it happen.
(Hashirama is just. Moping in a corner.)
"I just had to INVENT a paternity test that works before the birth! I had to figure out how to test amniotic fluid! If you assholes make me do something this stupid on such short notice again, I will be digging some shallow graves!" "...for who?" "I haven't decided yet."
Anyway, jumping back to like a Phoenix Wright-style murder investigation.
The victim was Danzo. Even the prosecution isn't actually that interested in making sure someone gets arrested, but they're legally obligated to do at least try. A bunch of people all acting really suspicious about who killed him. There is at least one shitty fake mustache-on-glasses disguise to provide a paper-thin alibi.
WAIT The other thing this gives us is ninjas in three-piece-suits but half of them wear the suits wrong. I’m talking mismatched buttons. The wrong way of tying their tie. Sewn-on-cufflinks. This is Naruto, for instance.
Tobirama would wear it properly, except he's rushing about in a lab coat, screaming at everyone to get out of his way because he's The Entire Forensics Team.
(This is the part where I have to confess that I have only seen the live-action movie of Phoenix Wright, as I don't game, so I just have the live action and tumblr osmosis.)
At this point, of course, we gotta ask: Who is the most Belligerent Witness And who is the Helpful™️ Witness that's super enthusiastic but entirely useless
I can see, say, Mito being a solid witness that both defense and prosecution are really thankful for.
Modern gen you have like... Sasuke and Neji are both incredibly belligerent witnesses. Neji at least is polite about it but pulls the "only answers with the absolute minimum of information."
Lee and Gai would have the over enthusiasm but forget to say actual vital testimony until pressed, and Naruto would love to help but might not be entirely sure what the case even is.
Shikamaru falls asleep when the lawyers consult their partners. Prosecution A consults Prosecution B for thirty-seven seconds, then turns around and the witness is asleep at the stand.
Tobi (as in Obito with mask) is an incredibly frustrating witness. They have to declare a recess just so all the lawyers can recover their blood pressure. "Can we please get someone up on the stand with this guy as a handler? I'm--I'm going to explode."
Gaara: Helpful. Polite. Answers with detail. Answers the spirit of the question as well as the letter. Includes more detail. That's too much detail. Gaara please stop telling us about the sounds that bones make.
His testimony just drags on forever.
Ninken can and will take the stand! Pakkun even enjoys it! Some ninken require translators.
ABURAME TRANSLATING FOR A RANDOM GIANT CENTIPEDE THAT WITNESSED A MURDER IN THE FOREST OF DEATH
There are arguments about whether or not the testimony can count since nobody else can confirm the translation except Other Aburame so how do they know the Aburame aren't part of the coverup.
"Okay, so this Danzo guy had like fifty shell companies but I think I found the route that leads back to him?" "Nah, that one goes to a guy that died eighty years ago that's still collecting pensions: his family lied and said he was still alive for the money." "Fuck!"
Also I just. I love the idea of Sasuke and Madara being the exact opposite kind of belligerent witness.
Also, Orochimaru answers with pretty much the exact kind of wording as Gaara, but where Gaara is trying to be helpful and provide detail for the sake of the case, and failing to see that it's maybe not necessary, Orochimaru just wants to see people squirm. ...similar thing happens with Sakura and Kabuto. Similar phrasing, very different energy.
I keep picturing all of Team Taka as part of Forensics and Evidence Collecting ajshakshjd
Juugo, holding up a rabbit: I found a witness.
Karin joins forensics and Tobirama nearly weeps from joy until he finds her criminal record "Shit, that was supposed to get thrown out when I turned eighteen."
Tobirama: I asked for an assistant, not a criminal. Karin: I'm on parole. Tobirama: That makes things worse. Karin: I know how to use a [concerningly advanced machine that I, a business major, cannot name]. Tobirama: ...never mind, I'm keeping you.
Karin: I know how to DNA sequence AND use LA-ICP-MS Tobirama: [weeps with joy]
Suigetsu would be great at blood splatter analysis. ...I think I read somewhere that blood spatter analysis is actually over in 'fake science that's pushed by cops and media but actually doesn't work' BUT apparently it’s in the Ace Attorney games so we’re going to ignore reality a bit. We’ve already got dogs and rabbits and centipedes as witnesses, what’s a bit of blood spatter?
He's also probably really good at cause of death stuff? Like looking at corpse and figuring out how long it took the victim to die, which blow did it, whether any damage was inflicted post-mortem, etc.
Sasuke is usually too busy playing Belligerent Witness but sometimes goes to join Taka for... uh... reasons.
Juugo: [takes the stand] Lawyer: Hey, uh, why's that Uchiha guy with him? The witness-- Judge: No, no, we need Uchiha Sasuke on hand when questioning Expert Animal Handler Juugo. Lawyer: ...why? Judge: Property damage.
(Sasuke as a work partner with Juugo, also moonlighting as a witness/suspect in Danzo's murder.)
One time they need Juugo but can't find him even though court is already in session and he said he'd be here, turns out he was lured away by Kakashi's army of dogs. Kakashi didn't notice until he turned to ask Pakkun if he could help find the missing expert.
Juugo is a decent lab assistant, I think?
Anyway.
Tobirama taking on Team Taka as his forensics team while Orochimaru is... hm... traveling the country to promote his new autobiography, which is outselling the newest Icha Icha to Jiraiya's ire.
Sloane suggested “a case where it's all the Sannin as suspects in a murder. They would be THE WORST, say... the murder of Hanzo.”
To which I suggested “The Sannin are all suspects but the people on trial are the Ame trio, maybe?”
Which garnered the response of “It could be a surprise upset IN COURT that the trio should be on trial.”
We love a court upset.
Suigetsu finds out that the cause of death was actually an entirely natural heart attack, but while he was determining this, the rest of the team and the lawyers found like eight conspiracies by Zetsu, three by Danzo, four by Orochimaru, and an entire network of nonsense by Sasori.
INO IS THE PSYCHIC. I know her thing in canon is reading minds but pls. Ino is Maya. The Spirit Medium.
Is the judge: 1. Hiruzen 2. Hashirama 3. Hagoromo 4. Mifune 5. The Daimyou
(Old dude with authority, optionally easily distracted/questionably competent. I'd have gone for impressive facial hair but only Mifune and Hagoromo have more than like... Hiruzen's weird soul patch.)
It's not a soul patch but I don't know what facial hair is called and I can't just call it a goat beard
Response commentary was as follows: The Daimyou would unfortunately be closer to the personality of the ace attorney judge, more blindly agreeing with things that sound good :joy: Hiruzen could be fun if only for the competing facial hair for a beard, yes xD Hagoromo would possibly be most buckwild tho WELCOME TO MOON COURT
I managed to get this far with like... NO idea who the judges were except “IDK maybe Kakashi?” but consider:
...HashiMada rival lawyers
Dropping over to Izuna vs. Touka for when Hashirama and Madara inevitably become suspects of something or other themselves and have to be witnesses.
(Tobirama's too busy running blood tests, Anija, let Touka handle it, she's better at people anyway.)
...Hashirama is like. Marginally more put-together than Madara, right? So that... makes him Edgeworth... somehow... That feels wrong but Madara as Edgeworth feels even more wrong.
Madara is very into screaming OBJECTION
ALSO consider: Friction when a doctor from a nearby hospital gets called in to provide expert testimony on something because Karin is like "no hey I should be the one doing this" and then she sees how cute Sakura is.
But also at some point Kakashi vs. Gai for a nonsense case. Their personalities are both VERY FUN for this sort of thing.

Rating the Good Boys of Ace Attorney
1. Missile
The adorable, the original; a handsome Shiba Inu with investigative skills like no other.
Pros: a skilled, lovable, and clearly talented boy, faithful friend to Detective Gumshoe, the best secret weapon by far.
Cons: None known.
If you don’t choose Missile first just to walk around and find dialogue with this wonderful boy, you’re playing Turnabout Goodbyes wrong. Rating: 10/10.
2. Anime Missile (Pess)
Edgeworth’s dog in the flashback episodes, a faithful and super-cute Pomeranian modelled and named after Shu Takumi’s own dog. Presumably an on-screen interpretation of Edgeworth’s dog Pess, who is such a wonderfully good girl that she is only mentioned in interviews and doesn’t even appear in the games, because Capcom knows that if she appeared the degree of goodness would melt the console.
Pros: another very talented boy, can easily find his way back home if he has a trail to follow. Abandoned once but still keeps up his spirits and looks after little Miles. Does a killer MvK cosplay.
Cons: Accidentally caused the class trial by giving Edgeworth’s money to Larry. Then again, the trial meant Edgeworth and Phoenix became friends, so I guess it was a good thing after all…?
It doesn’t bear on his score because he’s too cute to be malicious. Rating: 10/10
3. Napalm
Mixing things up, we have a good GIRL here! Another Pomeranian; you can tell that she’s a Girl® because of her eyelashes, pink bow, and pink heart-shaped marking. Nevertheless, still an indescribably good girl.
Pros: Cute, stylish and ridiculously valuable girl. Indirectly helped Edgeworth become a prosecutor. Missile chasing after her in the same episode as Phoenix trying to contact Edgeworth makes her a lowkey Edgeworth mirror??? Very pretty with a wonderful name.
Cons: Absolutely none.
If she came up to me on the street I would cry because she’s so cute. Rating: 10/10
4. Constantine
To add a twist, here’s an unbelievably fluffy non-canon boy! He’s Inquisitor Barnham’s dog, and is responsible for the scar on Barnham’s face. He doesn’t seem to have a canon breed, but that’s okay, because he’s small and fluffy and that’s what matters.
Pros: A good boy, with a lot of personality! He’s feisty and clever enough to give puzzles to Layton, Wright & co. Just look at him!!! I can honestly say I have never seen a better boy. He even plays a role in the endgame of PLvsAA when Barnham can’t make it.
Cons: Attacked Nick when he tried to pet him, so he’s not the most well-mannered boy, but that’s okay!! He’s cute enough to get away with it.
He may be the only dog in the world to be an official member of an order of knights. Rating: 10/10
5. Shah’do
Ahlbi’s puppy who can’t seem to decide if he’s a dog or a hat. He’s canonically a Tibetan mastiff, which means that when he’s all grown up, he’ll be about three times the size he is now! Quite mischievous, but never causes too much trouble, and it all works out in the end.
Pros: He’s loyal, adorable, cute and intelligent, even sensing and reflecting Ahlbi’s emotions! He really is one of the cutest boys I’ve ever seen.
Cons: Naughty!!
Clearly has magical Khura’inese powers of cuteness, judging by the mitamah marking on his forehead. Rating: 10/10
6. Jugemu
The dog who lives at the Toneido School’s Kurukuru Tei theatre, this boy deserves some more love!! A beautiful good boy with a very healthy appetite; he single-handedly convinced me that Turnabout Storyteller is the best case in AA6. He only appears in one graphic, but I love him nevertheless.
Pros: He has an adorable little kennel so he can stay out of the rain when he has to, and he’s instrumental in solving the case.
Cons: None whatsoever!
I wanted to see more of him! Rating: 10/10
There are a few more good boys, but they have plot roles in DGS2 and AAI2, so beware of serious spoilers under the cut!
Spoilery (But Still Good) Boys
1. Anubis
One of the scarier boys on the list! He’s the guide dog of the blind assassin Sirhan Dogen, and while he’s very clever, he’s also very intimidating! He resembles a Tosa, a breed also known as Japanese mastiffs. (He’s probably killed people in the past, but let’s brush over that for a moment.)
Pros: He’s a startlingly long-lived boy! Unless Dogen replaces his dogs on the down-low (which feels unlikely) he’s been at Dogen’s side for nineteen years! Plus, I feel like if I was nice to him, he would let me pet him.
Cons: You know what? None. He doesn’t have a single malicious bone in his furry body, he’s just a deeply loyal and obedient boy. It’s not his fault that his master is an assassin; he’s still a good boy!
Despite having such a scary reputation, Anubis did nothing wrong. …Kind of. Rating: 10/10
2. Balmung
The second scarily good boy on our list, Balmung is another good but admittedly terrifying boy. He is the dog of a serial killer, the Professor, and he most closely resembles a lurcher hound, though his breed was never confirmed. Despite outward appearances, I promise you he’s a good boy at heart- he just happened to also be used as a murder weapon.
Pros: He’s the real Hound of the Baskervilles, how cool is that? He’s also quite an old boy, living for at least twelve years and remaining active even then. And he’s listed as his owner’s friend on the Ace Attorney wiki, which is also very cute, and strong evidence of his good boy nature.
Cons: …He’s kinda scary…!
Overall, despite being quite a frightening boy, Balmung means well. Rating: 10/10
3. Toby
In stark contrast to the previous two good but murder-y boys, we have one of the cutest boys of the whole series: Toby!! He’s Gina’s dog after she becomes a detective, and is honestly my favourite good boy in the series (but shhh, that’s a secret!) Toby is based on a dog of the same name from the Holmes novels!
Pros: Seriously, just look at him! He’s a classically cute boy. He’s the Platonic Ideal of what a good boy should be. And he’s talented, too- he helps Naruhodou solve a lot of cases!
Cons: …He does attack Naruhodou once. But it leads into the best joint reasoning segment of the whole game, so I can forgive him.
It’s especially sweet when you realise that in-universe Toby is probably named after Gina’s mentor, Tobias Gregson! Rating: 10/10

FANGAN CHARACTER DESIGNS YO HOLLER
I have been encouraged to post some of my fangan peeps' appearances and I shall do so with gratitude
Baiko Omori - Ultimate Lucky Student
Fitting his talent, Baiko looks average. His skin is tan from working in the sun and under his clothes, he is built quite wiry. He has an oval face and clean skin. His slim lips are always curved into a mysterious, blank smile and has a small, straight nose; the rest of his facial features are hidden by his bangs. He has rectangular, attentive, deep and soft blue eyes that display his emotions very clearly.
Baiko wears a dark blue turtleneck sweater and a used-looking light brown trench coat with a stand-up collar and big buttons that reaches his knees. Latter belonged to his grandfather. The collar of the turtleneck conceals an old scar across his throat that was stretched as he grew. He wears straight dark brown suit pants and shiny brown business shoes. He also carries a golden pocketwatch around his neck.
Baiko has long, dark brown hair and his slightly-tousled bangs reach over his eyes and up to the middle of the bridge of his nose. His hair dips a little into the collar of his coat, then bends and continues outside of the collar until his waist. He has an ahoge which curls to a square with soft edges.
Ei Hagakure - Ultimate Ghost Whisperer
Ei is a tall and lanky girl. She has dark skin and in her underweight phases, her bone structure becomes visible. She has a long face with half-closed eyes that make her look smug. Ei has three earlobe piercings on each ear. There are a hanging golden star and moon, a glob of green goo, an eyeball, a cartoon ghost, dango-like puffy balls colored gradient purple and a button.
Ei has dark-brown, almost black, frizzly hair that she keeps in two big buns on her head. Strands are falling into her face and framing her jaw. Inside her two buns, she keeps the antennas of her gear. They extend when she is scared.
Ei wears a lab coat that she has dyed pink. The symbol of her university is printed on the coat's lapel. Under her coat, she wears a loose t-shirt with a light-blue and yellow batik design that is stuffed in her pants. Her sweatpants-like pants are dark purple with a sand-colored strap and (the area on the end of a sweatpants where it tightens around the leg).
Ei's ghost detection device hangs around her neck. It is a vintage lunchbox with a surreal motto on it. One side is filled with a monitor, the other with three speed-indicator-like displays and a foldable keyboard.
Etsuya Iwata - Ultimate Opera Singer
Etsuya has an average body build and a slim face. He wears make-up, dark lilac-blue eyeshadow and thick eyeliner. He also added an artificial beauty mark above his upper lip. Etsuya has brown, rectangular eyes, so dark that they seem black.
As for clothing, Etsuya wears a mix of costumes for his roles. He wears a white loose shirt which is stuffed inside a dark red long and wide skirt with a golden vine pattern. A golden, glittery matador jacket is draped over his shoulders. A tag saying “Prop for: Etsuya Iwata'' is attached to its collar. Additionally, he wears dark brown slippers.
He has blond hair and styles it to round, big curls into a ponytail. A rose is tucked behind his ear.
(Etsuya is kinda just entirely based on the opera "Carmen" aksjjs)
Hideaki Yukiyama - Ultimate Mathematician
Hideaki is a small, thin boy. He has a round face and big, circular bright green eyes. He has a button nose and is usually seen with a wide grin. Hideaki styles his red hair to part in the middle and stick to the side like a clown or an owl.
Hideaki’s daily attire consists of a button-up shirt that looks three sizes too big for his frame, shorts and mid-calf high socks. The shirt is half black and half white, the black part is made out of velvet and has arithmetic operators in all colors and sizes on them. A cheap squirting prank flower is attached to the collar. His socks are green and red striped. His shorts and shoes are part of the uniform of his boarding school, his shorts are therefore strictly gray and straight and his shoes neatly shiny black.
(tbh I'm not satisfied with Hideaki's design yet. His early design was way too bright and chaotic but this one is kinda.... too dark and gray when I imagine Hideaki? I can recolor the shirt in also green/red but I fear that that's too much on the eye??? Idk man I'm an absolute fashion disaster and so is Hideaki am9sjehe)
Ichini - Ultimate Robotics Engineer
To be honest, I have a vision of Ichini but I don't have details since I haven't really done much with robots before. What I know that Ichini is absolutely massive and mostly uses angled shapes. Xe is a robot from the neck down. Xe has square, bulging shoulders, thick arms and giant hands. Instead of feet, xe just has flat metal clumps. In general, xe is very unproportional, wide torso, slim hips, short legs, also considering that xir head is still human and way too small for the rest of xir body. Xir hair is jet black with a cyan stripe, it's styled into one giant spike or multiple spikes that stand up from the back of xir head.
Jun Nagao - Ultimate Escapologist
Jun is of nearly average build, just a little thinner and smaller. His complexion is sickly. He has a round face. Due to his facioplegia, his expression is always stern, almost annoyed. His thin, straight eyebrows, slim lips and empty, light-gray eyes play a role in that. His brown hair is shaven. At the back of his head is a bald spot where the weapon hit that knocked him unconscious.
(The same weapon (probably a bat, a pipe or a baton) caused his head injury that lead to the paralysis of his face. It was the first abduction incident.)
He wears a long-sleeve shirt which is a bit oversized and of a yellow that almost seems dirty. The sleeves end in black leather and have a leather strip with a small buckle attached to them. The leather ends are folded up as not to hinder Jun's hands. The sleeves can be fixated like a straitjacket like a belt on several points on his chest and back, the other straps lined up in two rows like trench coat buttons. The leather looks used.
His tight pants are black and gray striped, horizontally but swirling down his legs. They're held up by an old brown leather belt with metal-rimmed holes on the entirety of it. On each belt loop hangs a different type of lock. Jun wears a chain around his neck like a necklace. The keys hanging from the chain fit the locks on his hip. In between the keys, two bobby pins can also be found.
He wears clunky-looking black boots that reach a little over his ankle, so that the ends of his pant legs disappear in the shoe. The black and yellow shoelaces are tied strangely and differently on each boot.
Kaida Tsutsumi - Ultimate Stock Broker
Kaida is small for her age and has inherited the classic looks of her family: slim, blonde hair and semi-rimless glasses. Her hair is cropped short and parted to a formal side parting. Her clothes are very formal as well: She wears a full, dark green suit, a white shirt and a tie that is held in place by a silver tie pin.
(Hm, I feel like Kaida needs more details in her designs and I really don't know what since they gotta relate to her talent somewhat.)
Kyo Kido - Ultimate Horror Author
Kyo is tall but his bent posture decreases his height. Though he is lanky, he has broad shoulders that don't quite fit him.
Kyo has a long face with slim features and high cheekbones. There are dark circles from tiredness under his white eyes. His hair is straight and dark blue; one side of his head is shaven, the other grown out to his shoulder.
He wears very casual clothing, a black t-shirt with a grey skull on the breast pocket stuffed into black ripped jeans, and worn, dirty white sneakers. Over the t-shirt, he wears a blue checkered flannel shirt. The t-shirt and jeans have strange red stains on them.
(idk if I'll add that as "OfFicIaL" but I just had the most random thought, what if the stains were soup stains that didn't wash out and that's why he doesn't like soup kjwjeheehe, everyone is like "Oh my God, that's probably blood on his clothes, eek, that's so creepy!" and Kyo is just standing there with his soup stains)
Maxis von Läuterbach - Ultimate Knight
Maxis is tall and wiry, however, seems slender. Because they are half-German, half-Novoselic, their complexion is accordingly Caucasian. They have yellow eyes with slits which makes them look dragon-like. They also have a big hawk nose and slim lips. Their hair is of a rather dirty blond, reaches to their chin and is parted in the middle. A golden circlet is placed on their brow.
Maxis' outfit is inspired by German medieval fashion and is mostly in blue and green. They wear a light blue tunic with a damask pattern and a golden belt where they keep their sheathed sword, a long cape, tight leggins, and loose brown leather boots.
(For reference, I searched up some medieval clothing, found this and took inspiration from the guy with the green cape in the bottom right corner. Fun fact, that guy is labeled with "Fürst" which translates to "prince", so yeah even in their clothing, Maxis goes full "You have reached the house of unrecognized talent.")
Miyoko Iwata - Ultimate DJ
Miyoko dresses in loose, mostly white clothing that is splattered with neon green, blue, yellow and pink paint. Her outfit consists of an old jeans jacket, a loose top, and wide ripped pants. She has styled her white hair into many independent ponytails. Most of her face, meaning half of her forehead, her eyes, and half of her cheeks, are covered by her visor. It is a black display with a white rim that displays kaomoji-like eyes in correspondence to her current mood. She has brightly painted nails.
(Yeah, Miyoko just goes >o<. Also when she is so utterly disappointed by something that she doesn't even have words for it, I imagine her visor just displays "......" Also I may or may not have stolen that visor idea and design from Godot from Ace Attorney but yeah, I did.)
Rokuro Nakatani - Ultimate Fraud
Rokuro has a slim, femininely shaped body and a chiseled face. He has slick black hair, one strand is falling into his face. In the style of a true con man, he wears a black suit without a tie and a long coat with a fur collar over his shoulders. His eyes are colored like emeralds and there is always a smug smile on his thin lips. Rokuro wears elaborate earrings and a myriad of big rings with gemstones set in them.
Shiori Ishimaru-Owada - Ultimate Team Captain
Shiori is tall and is built athletically, so she has broad shoulders and is decently muscular. She has an angular face, round eyes and short bushy eyebrows. Her eye color is a sort of pinkish. She has thin faded cut scars on her entire face. Her hair is brown-blackish, sorta shaggy and tamed into the stump of a ponytail. Bangs still fall in her face.
Shiori is dressed according to her talent and mostly in the colors of her ice hockey team: blue and orange. She wears a training jacket with the name of her team on the front and her surname and her number, 11, on the back, orange sport shorts which expose her toned legs, blue sneakers and a simple white shirt.
In addition, she has an elastic sport bandage around her left ankle and blue boxing bandages around her wrists and palms.
Tamae Shiroma - Ultimate Whistleblower
Tamae is a small, chubby girl. She is snuggled into comfortable clothing: a dark blue hoodie, black sweatpants and sneakers. She mostly wears her hood up and under it, a baseball cap that she can pull into her face to hide it. Under her cap, some of her locks spring out onto her forehead. Her hair is dyed lightly purple and she has an undercut at whose sides the dye is fading and her natural hair color, black, is coming through. Most of her hair is hidden under her cap though.
She has a round face, a big nose and squinting ink-black eyes. Her eyebrows aren't dyed and bushy and slightly bent upwards.
