I have drawn Pearl before! They're all under her tag but they're not very good so..!! Have a new Pearl! She's sad.

hey so i’m braindumping but has anyone ever thought abt the transgender potential of like. a member of the fey clan. probably but im gonna talk abt it anyway.

you are small. and the women of your village loom over you in more ways than one. they are different in a way that is unlike you. maybe you are born to one of the powerful ones, a strong bloodline, your ability all but guaranteed. you are fussed over, coddled, the legacy of your mother and her mother and her mother’s mother. you will be powerful one day. but as time passes, you are not. you cannot change your body, cannot change your mind, cannot force yourself into the corners to make room for a new conciousness, be someone you are not. you are different in a way that is unlike them. maybe you wish you could. maybe this shows you something about yourself. maybe all it shows you is that those who coddled you only did so for the power they assumed you would bring them. maybe you are alone. maybe you were only ever meant to be yourself.

Currently replaying the main Phoenix Wright trilogy and Maya’s comments about the Feys’ spiritual powers made me wonder. She says “only the women”… imagine how validating it would be for a trans Fey. Dammit, now I want fics.

design stuff in general -- theyre in front of the fey manor in kurain village, theyre about 5 & 15 here respectively. obi sashes of the yukata are based off their magatama colours, was lazy with the patterns and just used some pattern brushes that look similar enough to other yukata patterns.

on the frame in the bottom right corner theres a tiny little fingerprint -- couldnt find maya, pearl, or mia's so i used phoenix's lol

their hairstyles are based off the picture with the broken ami fey urn, but its weird since its just their normal hairstyles ??? then again ive had pretty much two hairstyles in my life as well and the only real difference there is length and hair dye.

anyways thoughts about THEM -- since misty/elise left, morgan mustve raised them, right ?? but mia would have left at say, 18, then maya would have been like 8 when she left, and then all the stuff with like how the master of kurain stuff would have been handled -- i dont think mia was coming back. i dont think mia ever DID come back, actually. i wonder if maya knew this, if she realised even before mia died that she was gonna have to be the master. and with dahlia and iris, did mia play with them when they were kids, i wonder i wonder...when did mia know that she had to leave, did she ever realise about how much morgan was willing to do ?? did morgan ever hope that iris or dahlia was gonna be the next master, or did she realise they didnt have much spiritual power from a young age ??? did mia ever meet pearl ??? im so obsessed with the feys. such an interesting family.

picture this: after maya takes her position as master of the kurain channeling technique the kurain village elders immediately start pressuring her to get married and produce an heir, an idea she's opposed to. she'd already resolved to ascend to master years ago meaning she's thought long and hard about which traditions she'd work to keep and which to discard. she is not going to let things like established main and branch families tear her clan apart like it did with her mother and aunt. but maya is smart and knows that this is a matter of village politics that she must be strategic about. tradition doesn't change overnight and as the young and newly-appointed master, she doesn't actually have that much sway. outright defiance won't work. so she negotiates and goes along with taking a spouse so long as she alone gets to pick regardless of the elders' approval.

said spouse has to fit a number of criteria: 1) they would need to not have an ego and be secure enough in their own life to be okay with holding no power within the village. be it because they'd be a man living in a matriarchal community or because maya would always outrank them regardless of gender. 2) they would have to be keen on living in a rural, traditional japanese-style town in the mountains. 3) they are not precious or sentimental about the concept of marriage and would not be offended by maya's pragmatism. 4) loyal to maya and would not defer to the village elders; in fact, someone who isn't afraid to put foolish old people in their place, obligatory respect for seniors be damned, would be helpful. more importantly, the blatant disregard would be REALLY funny. 5) needs to be able keep up with maya's steel samurai obsession. 6) ideally they should be someone crazy enough to accept maya's proposal merely because she had the guts to ask

somehow, on maya's shortlist of eligible candidates from her and phoenix's inner circle, the most fitting one is the twisted samurai simon blackquill of all people. and thus on her next trip to the city, she plans to drop by the prosecutors' office to make one very odd request

While Misty's family was blessed in spiritual ability (Misty being the Master; Mia as mentioned by Maya in 1-2; and Maya as evidenced by when she called away Mia's spirit and made it impossible for Pearl to call away Dahlia's spirit despite her being stated to be the stronger of the two.), Morgan's family was blessed in physical ability.

This is evidenced by Pearl being able to run all the way to a courthouse from her mountain village (something that takes place two hours by train) and knocking out a fully grown man with a slap all before she reaches her double digits. Dahlia survived the fall into the Eagle River, a place where anyone who falls in there is never found, at the age of fourteen. And Iris well...she carried the body of a fully grown woman and stabbed her. That takes...some physical effort at least.
