It was Maid Day today yesterday a week ago so I got struck by inspiration to draw the worsties, and it ran away from me into a whole AU where they’re coworkers at a maid cafe. She’s a med student & this is just a part time job, and this is his depression job while he gets his life back together. He needs something he can be workaholic about to forget what it’s like having a personal life and personal issues. He’s actually the accountant, but the new hire janitor (Izutsumi) doesn’t show up for half her shifts and is a sloppy worker, so he gets the extra work of doing her job on top of his because he’s undervalued and overworked. Of course, janitors also have an uniform to keep the aesthetic cohesion as they go about cleaning the place, of course.

Senshi’s the part time cook you only see slivers off, he’s kind and warm when you do see him and have a chat but most shifts he’s in and out the kitchen without a trace. Laios and Falin are regulars because Falin and Marcille are besties & in the same med school, Laios accompanies Falin as she visits her friend at work and gets hooked on the food. Chilchuck has to remind Marcille to work instead of chatting with Falin for an hour, and next thing he knows she’s distracting him from work too. That’s it that’s the AU. Inspired by this idol AU fanart a bit <3

Shockingly underrated thing about Leo is that he’s legitimately charming when he wants to be?

He’s the Faceman! He’s persuasive! That’s not just some random title he gave himself with no backing to it. People will listen to him. Even if they think he’s being annoying or if they’re upset at him, people listen to him anyway! There’s a reason his bros push him out front to talk to people, and when this happens, that talking nearly always works.

Moreover, Leo knows people. He looks at them and takes into account how they act and what they’re like as he makes his way through the conversations. It’s easy to forget this aspect of Leo’s character because he only brings it out when he really needs (read: wants) to, but it really is a notable part of him that always love to see.

And I say charm in particular because he has a knack for not only getting people to pay attention, but for getting people to stay and listen to what he has to say.

I think nobody talks enough about how each of the sannin all have such glorious hair. all three of them have such long and luscious hair. i bet they traded hair routines and created their own hair formulas. Okay but like, Roy and Jamie weren’t exactly subtle about loathing each other, were they? They fought each other on the pitch and badmouthed each other on TV, none of that keep it quiet for the sake of the team shit for these extra boys, yeah? My point is, anyone who knows anything about English football knows that Roy Kent and Jamie Tartt used to hate each other, right?

So obviously, at some point, during some press conference or post game interview, someone needs to bring this fact up. Maybe it’s as early as after the 2x06 match, because Ted might well have insisted Roy and Jamie be the ones to front that, both because it was them that won that game and because he figures it’ll promote ~their bond~ or some such. Could be later too, after the headbutt/hug thing, or later still, once the pictures of Jamie and Roy’s early morning excursions start doing the rounds on social media.

Doesn’t matter much when, really, only that someone – maybe from the tabloids because they’re a vicious lot – would ask: “Roy, just weeks before you joined the Richmond coaching staff you said, and I quote, ‘Jamie Tartt is a muppet and I hope he dies of the incurable condition of being a little bitch’. Today you described him as the most important player on the field. What has changed?”

And maybe the room goes a bit quiet at that, oooh he fucking went there, and what the hell is going to happen now, but Jamie only cocks his head to the side, making a face but looking at Roy all amused like. “You said that about me? That hurts me feelings, Coach.”

And Roy rolls his eyes, exasperated but in too good a mood after the win to be really annoyed. “Yeah, well, as it turns out the condition was only mostly incurable, wasn’t it?”

And Jamie goes aaaw and the press goes um okay and it doesn’t really explain anything, only adds to the ever-evolving legend of what the fuck is up with Roy Kent and Jamie Tartt.

“Will it fix anything?" you blurted, thoughts and words pouring from your mouth before you could stop - you saw no point in stopping now that the question was out in the open. "Killing dragons."

Your question needed no answer, it was simply fact. Killing a dragon meant everything here. Proud, tall-standing Vikings of the past generations carved their names on plaques and blades used to tear through muscly flesh, celebrating the slaying of the most ferocious dragons in the Archipelago. The ones who fell were remembered for their grim ends to the claws of a dragon. Even if it cost your life, a Viking’s purpose was nothing if not to kill dragons. The tradition was a heavy expectation to place on children, it was something you’d yet to properly fathom.

“What?" He looked at you as if you were a Zippleback with an extra head.

Running off with your big mouth had become a knack of yours, it seemed. Your thoughts came in a steady, flowing stream, catching onto the crevices of boulders and twigs until the water flooded over. You couldn't help it, your mind wandered often when in solace, which was more often than you now realized. "I just mean... I'm sure there's a better way to resolve things.”

He stayed silent, the lack of sound making up for whatever he wanted to say. Something sarcastic and quippy for sure, but he spared you the sass. His expression was contemplative, lacking the usual nervousness he showed. Had your words left some small impact on him, you would have been glad.

“…Maybe.” He shrugged eventually, turning his back to the blade laid to be flattened and sharpened on the anvil. You noticed the slight grovel on his face when his gaze landed on it, did it not come out the way he wanted it to? Or did he not feel like finishing it? You peered down at the blade, but your untrained eye couldn't find anything particularly wrong with it.

He muttered something that forced your head to shoot up. “That's just the way things are.”

Then you could change that, you thought. You bit your tongue.

“I was just thinking, is all,” you mused to yourself, shifting your feet beneath the uneven flooring, dirty and stained with soot. A good sweeping was long due; unfortunately for you, there was no broom in sight to keep your hands busy with, instead opting to feel along the loosened twine hung from the ends of your sleeves. “Maybe it’s because I’m not from here, I’m not used to all the violence.”

You observed his hunched back, a hand searching around for a hammer among the haphazard array of tools splayed across the workbench, wrapping his fingers around the handle and pulling it to his side. The sharpest corner tapped against the smoothened surface of the anvil, metal clinking together amid the burning crackling of fire that surged and flickered near you. Not the airy sounds of windchimes that tickled your ears, it sounded dense, the same metal that could tear through flesh and split between leathery scales down to the cartilage. If Hiccup were taller, the sight may have left you intimidated; warm hues highlighted the lighter shades of brown to his scruffy head, his figure casting a shadow across the workbench.

Warmth coated a thin layer across the curve of your full cheek, seeping past the rough fabric of your handed-down tunic. The air felt stuffy, a thick residue of smoke filling your lungs. You wished he opened a window or two.

He had been unusually quiet, more so than usual. You expected tapered-off mumblings and rushed words, instead, you were left with the void of silence and your stirring thoughts.

“If you don’t mind me asking…” you spoke out softly, fully aware of how sensitive this question would be. Your foot took a step forward, hoping to get a proper look at his expression to gauge for a reaction; offended, maybe, or contemplative. You hoped this wouldn’t step some sort of boundary, but you had overstepped multiple – your first mistake was landing up here to begin with.

“Why do you want to kill dragons?”

His neck craned to the side, enough to catch the side profile of his face. Not too upset, you guessed, at least not towards you.

“Why wouldn’t I?” he asked himself, throwing the hammer up with his gesture, and you pulled back. He turned his head fully, settling down the hammer with a stutter. “Oh, sorry.”

The subdued laugh you let out slipped from your throat from its suddenness, adrenaline startling and spiking up enough for your chest to skip a measured number of beats. His expression nearly reflected yours, the hand that once held the tool now scratched the itch on his neck.

“I should be sorry.” The moment of humour left as soon as it came; it wasn’t your place to stick your nose up in. Your head dipped to the side, finding the best angle to observe him properly. If you wore your glasses, maybe then you could discern the unreadable look in his eyes, past the blurred, undefined curves of his youthful face and lowly lit atmosphere. “But… Dragons are wonderful creatures, if you look deeper down.”

Your conviction pushed past the hesitation in your tone, accent clunky and words mismatched or pronounced oddly to a native speaker. You could have worded it better if there was time to stop and think, organize your thoughts and present them in your mother tongue. There was room to improve on your vocabulary, at times you were tempted to slip back into your normal speech, which only proved more difficult to convey your thoughts.

“How can you say that?” he asked, not nearly with enough bite as you were anticipating. His jaw clenched to hold back his words. “You’ve seen the raids, right? I mean, if we don’t do something about it, they’ll keep taking our food and who knows what. If I can’t kill one, then I…”

“I don’t think you’re less than if you can’t,” you spoke in place of his lost sentence. “I couldn’t kill one even if I had to, it’s normal. Normal where I’m from.”

His mouth opened, supposedly to say something, anything to combat you, but he closed it. The atmosphere felt as heavy as the metal weaponry and shields that surrounded you, steady in the trained hand of a Viking, while weighty and clumsy in yours. You imagined it would draw a thin line in the dirt as you struggled to keep hold of it in your sweaty grasp.

Arguing was the last thing you wanted this to end. If anything, it was to encourage him. A small push in the right direction justified your reason for being here, whatever that may have been. Sparks shot out from the fire, steadily burning out as fresh air was replaced by smoggy smoke and metallic odour wafting up your nose.

The hand that scratched gently at his neck trailed down his shoulder, fingers grasping onto the sleeve for something to hold on to, curling and unfurling between the thick fabric. What you were saying was the equivalent of crazy talk -- next to doubting the gods, that would leave anyone the least bit scandalized if not downright offended. The gears in his head appeared to turn past the flickering light of embers reflecting in his green eyes, a tentative curiosity laid further when you squinted back.

“That’s not a popular opinion to have, here,” he spoke with a sigh, leaning back onto the bench with a flat palm. “You… really think that?”

Something told you he wanted you to say yes. The lilt to his voice, maybe, easy to ignore in a passing moment, but right now couldn’t focus on anything that wasn’t the topic at hand.

“I do.” You nodded firmly.

The silence could have stretched on forever, as could the fire that had been burning off of coal for what could be hours – beneath thick air and tentative, fumbling words, you sensed something more; a mutual understanding that he was just as strange as you. You must have been an insane person, a kind of normal that gave you odd looks from absurd Viking caricatures and stereotypes.

“I don’t know if that makes me feel better or worse.” He dryly laughed. The break from tension brought you a smile. “You’re weird.”

The heat emanating from the fire felt warmer on your skin, a gust of air slipping through the cracks of the wooden beams. This was a success, you decided.

“I’m weird?” you repeated, unable to conceal your great amusement. You weirdly missed Hiccup’s sass; his character wouldn’t be Hiccup without it.

He paused, his relaxed demeanour coiled up once more. Standing up from the table, his hands flailed around in odd ways while scrambling to correct himself. “I didn’t mean it like that, just… I’ve never heard someone say that they like dragons.”

“That tracks.” You shrugged a shoulder, loosening the socket.

“It’s, uh…” His mouth pursed into a fine line. “…Sort of refreshing? I don’t know.”

You were glad to have someone who listened to what you had to say, even if he found you odd for it. Vikings were… stubborn, it was like talking to a brick wall at times.

“Speaking of refreshing...” Your hand gestured vaguely around you. “Can you open a window? It’s stuffy in here.”

He blinked, hesitating for a split second before he stepped to the side, navigating over discarded tools and metal scraps, stumbling gangly as if he were suspended by strings. You heard a clatter, followed by a foreign curse under his breath – a trail of water pooled by where he now bounced on one leg, attempting to wiggle it off. You held back your mirth, turning your head away to hide the smile tugging at your mouth.

Maybe you were laughing at him. Just a bit.
