I'm very emotional about the finale so let's talk abt the clones real quick ehem

One thing watching the bad batch has shown me is the selfless love the clones had. It's literally painted all over the whole show but i wanna highlight a few things in the finale:

The clones in Tantiss decided to stay and help Omega and Echo without a second of a doubt, even though freedom is right there- they could run for their lives but they didn't. Bro, these clones had gone through hell and back, but the second one of their brothers needs them, they didn't give a crap about that or the risk.

When Crosshair offered to break into Tantiss alone, Wrecker and Hunter could have accepted that and waited but no. If they were gonna survive together, then they were gonna survive together. If they were gonna die together, they were gonna die together.

In all the ways i wish tech was alive, his sacrifice meant that much more with him being actually dead. Yeah, we didn't get that reunion (sobs), that satisfaction of having the batch back together, but we did get the fruit of Tech's love for his brothers and sister. He literally died for them.

The clones' love for each other was selfless. If they could give a chance for one of them to survive then they would give it - no matter the cost. I admire that.

I originally started out shipping them romantically back when I first started watching the show but over time I started to view them more in a queerplatonic sense. QPRs are basically relationships that aren’t quite just romantic or just platonic and is sometimes classified as a “third other thing”. They often look like a traditional romantic relationship but the people in the relationship are the ones to state whether it is or not or if it’s something more complex. Usually it’s popular in the arospec community since many people there don’t have traditional romantic relationships. QPRs are in their nature defined by those in it so my definitions definitely don’t give it justice! I’d recommend doing more research on it for a fuller understanding!!

But anyways, how I view it for Miko and Five is that they’re like life partners for each other. I feel like their relationship is deeper than friendship but not quite romantic either, it’s more like this general sense of “it’s you and me against the world” ya know? Like I could see them moving in together, getting married (for tax benefits lmao), raising children, which is often seen as only for traditionally romantic relationships but for them I don’t feel like they have romantic feelings for each other. Like it’s this deep and very special relationship that goes beyond those boundaries!

Hopefully this all makes sense ^^; and also! I headcanon that Zahra later enters that QPR too and for Zahra and Five it’s a romantic relationship, but for Zahra and Miko it’s a friendship.

was thinking about lucifer!johnny or connected in some way to a demon!johnny the other day and was like, the theory is growing on me because it’s an interesting way of connecting lucifer personally to the drama alongside kit’s blatant parental issues (as well as making them much, much worse), and it’d be a fun tessa’s fucked up family & jace and clary and valentine parallels connection… and then i got whammied by the realization that if johnny is lucifer then kit would count as a warlock in the same way tessa would.

So. Themes. Super important for a story if you want to have any depth. Super easy to fuck up

What always sniped my snout about the trailers is how the Black Trailer is the strongest in terms of story because its theme is made abundantly clear and the path ahead exciting. "Are casualties acceptable in the name of a good cause?" has been asked a thousand times and gotten a thousand answers. It's a difficult enough question in real life but even harder in fiction because of how grounded it has to be in the worldbuilding and plot and characters

That last one starts off so well, too. Adam is firmly in Camp Casualties while Blake holds a more tentative counter position. In just a few minutes with minimal dialogue, the writers established the base of these characters and what their entire story would be about. This setup promised a veritable feast of drama and philosophy, made even spicier by the obvious bond the two shared

Yet the Black Trailer may as well be a fart in the wind for all the show cared. Not only does Adam not properly appear until three years in, he can no longer perform his original function as thematic counterpart due to Cinder calling the shots the moment the events of the BT are over. All the casualties seen are of the White Fang themselves, sacrificed on the altar of Cinder and Salem’s plan to... gain power and destroy the world, I think?

(Hard to remember when we, both hero and audience, had to wait almost a decade for the reason the story is happening, and the payoff just sank the show further into debt)

As bad as that is, nothing is more disappointing than Blake never being able to explore and embody her own theme. Whenever she gets challenged on her stance, not once does she rise to the occassion and proclaim why she's right to believe what she believes. The only thing she believes is that Adam (violence) is wrong and needs to be stopped. She doesn't face any hardships or loss for choosing peace over violence, instead getting handed victory after victory because her opposition keeps getting hit with the stupid cupid stick

The closest Adam and Blake ever got to fulfilling that original theme is at Beacon, and it's so weak and shallow and overshadowed by "mY dArLiNg" that it's hardly worth talking about. The writers' choice to switch from "are casualties acceptable" to "running away is the only way to protect your friends" with no bridge or closure is truly astounding

They could have done both. Even a world told through the narrow narrative lens is big enough to contain multiple themes at once, and they can be used in tandem to create insane amounts of depth. RWBY was a highly ambitious and very large project, so having multiple themes was pretty much guaranteed, but because the writers lacked skill and passion, they subtracted themes instead of building them, and the entire show is worse off for it

I think i would like sci-fi a lot more if more stories took the evolution route to it. so many sci-fi stories focus so much on the technology side and "Let's go to space! let's see capitalist hell!" and like, yeahh those have their purpose and place in sci-fi. But personally i love when sci-fi gets speculative with biology. How will the earth change? what animals developed from changed ecosystems - which animals evolved and which ones went extinct? I want people to take the science part of science fiction and explore biology and ecology and how the planet and animals change with the world. I"m tired of it only focusing on technology and robots and being more cyber fantasy.
