I want a relationship that is completely undefinable by any existing labels or words. Like, we're so close and we hug and kiss each other's foreheads and cuddle and travel and explore together, and we get along so well and have so much in common. But at the same time, our relationship isn't fully romantic or fully platonic; it's a completely separate, open-to-interpretation thing that we tweaked as needed, and we have our own boundaries and things we are and aren't comfortable with, and we respect each other in every way, shape, and form.

I kind of headcanon that Glitch Techs are usually paired into duos whenever they’re on patrol or hunting down a glitch for a variety of reasons (safety when fighting glitches, the ability to pair a new tech with someone more experienced, etc) and only usually group up into larger teams of three or four when something big happens like a powerful glitch or a large amount of glitches in a relatively small area.

And while thinking about that my mind drifted to the actual tech duos you have in the show.

Because you have…

Miko and Five: Regularly get out of messes (about half of which are accidentally made by them) by making a larger mess that cancels the first one out.

Bergy and Nix: I could make a full post about how i headcanon and write these two. Also I kind of did but I mean another one that’s more in detail and mostly just my headcanons about Nix and Bergy.

Mitch on his own: Either throwing himself at the toughest glitch in the area because his name is Mitch “Nah, I’d win” Williams, or stealing kills from everyone else. There is no in between. (He’s counted as a duo on his own because A: He’s about as powerful enough to count as one on his own and B: We haven’t been able to assign a teammate to him because he prefers working alone, there’s an odd number of techs and also because no one else can stand him.)

Zahra and Haneesh: The closest thing the Bailley store has to a functional duo, and they’re both support classes.

Miko: As someone who's environmentally conscious, it's my duty to pick you up. Does 7 work for you?

Zahra:

Zahra: You smooth motherfucker.

Zahra: And yes it does.

five, bergy, haneesh and zahra all suddenly start to call nix ‘scorekeeper’ and it’s because they want him to dm their new d&d campaign

Noticed a small thing when rewatching B.U.D.S.

The copycat glitch of Miko speaks and acts differently compared to every other copycat. It’s speech is more stilted and poorly disguised, and unlike seemingly every other copycat, the glitch of Miko immediately has difficulty standing and physically behaving like the person she’s copying. It just stares blankly.

Even though the B.U.D.S glitches are far from perfect mimics, adding the word “Buds” into as many sentences as possible and moving and speaking in sync as the amount of glitches increase, they’re pretty consistently able to mimic a person’s speech patterns and body movements. Sure it breaks down a bit as there’s more glitches and less humans, but the Glitch of Miko is especially noticeable in just how poorly it’s mimicking Miko, even compared to the other glitches in the room who are very rapidly changing strategy from “mimic and trick” to “overwhelm through sheer numbers”.

But then you realize that, according to Fake Mitch, B.U.D.S copies get their information by reading the memories of the people the main glitch captures.

Miko is immune to resets, and presumably other things that effect her mind and memories.

So Miko’s immunity might have made the glitch unable to actually read her mind and learn her behaviours, leading to the copy of her being extremely limited in terms of information on how Miko acts, speaks or even stands and moves.

It is my full belief that whenever Nix and Bergy are not actively involved in the episode, they’re both somewhere on the other side of Bailley experiencing their own adventure that could probably be it’s own episode all on its own. Like at nearly any point in the series you could suddenly smash cut to Bergy and Nix going on a completely different adventure completely separate from the other techs.

This “adventure that could be its own episode” can range from something like Bergy and Nix trying to fish a glitch out of a lake with a fishing rod to Nix trying to give Bergy advice on how to ask out Blake to “Cecil Bergoch and Adam Micheal Nix experience the horrors of war”.

Miko and Five are going through the events of The Glitch Modder with Ridley and halfway across town Bergy and Nix are going through, like, the plot of a sitcom. It’s a smash cut from Miko, Five and Miko dealing with Ping to Bergy and Nix running from a small army of glitches with little to no further context of how they got into this scenario. Do you understand what I’m talking about here or am I rambling like a madwoman?

Okay, imma ask, who remembers Glitch Techs?

Do you ship five and miko or do you see them as platonic friendz

Basically: yes but no?? :’)

I originally started out shipping them romantically back when I first started watching the show but over time I started to view them more in a queerplatonic sense. QPRs are basically relationships that aren’t quite just romantic or just platonic and is sometimes classified as a “third other thing”. They often look like a traditional romantic relationship but the people in the relationship are the ones to state whether it is or not or if it’s something more complex. Usually it’s popular in the arospec community since many people there don’t have traditional romantic relationships. QPRs are in their nature defined by those in it so my definitions definitely don’t give it justice! I’d recommend doing more research on it for a fuller understanding!!

But anyways, how I view it for Miko and Five is that they’re like life partners for each other. I feel like their relationship is deeper than friendship but not quite romantic either, it’s more like this general sense of “it’s you and me against the world” ya know? Like I could see them moving in together, getting married (for tax benefits lmao), raising children, which is often seen as only for traditionally romantic relationships but for them I don’t feel like they have romantic feelings for each other. Like it’s this deep and very special relationship that goes beyond those boundaries!

Hopefully this all makes sense ^^; and also! I headcanon that Zahra later enters that QPR too and for Zahra and Five it’s a romantic relationship, but for Zahra and Miko it’s a friendship.
