The Joker comic I talked about is finally here!

I can't lie, I was pretty disappointed with how the reunion with Joker went in ME2. Out of all the characters, his should have been the most emotionally impactful (he saw Shepard die!!) yet all we got was "Sup?" as though Joker wouldn't have spent the 2 years dealing with insane survivor's guilt. Well to that I say pthhbt. My Shepard would have been beside herself seeing him again for the first time, so he's getting hugged whether he likes it or not.

Also while this is technically part of my ongoing Shakarian comic, please feel free to interpret this as romantic as well as platonic.

Actually I think it would be hilarious if Joker had a small collection of licenses . Pilot’ s license . Mech operator license . Licenses to sell liquor and cannabis . Hunting license . Fishing license . Just a collection of them . But he doesn’ t have a driver’ s license . Everyone assumes he does . He does not . They let him drive because they think he has a drivers license . This is a mistake .

This is why I think when he and Cortez are in the skycar in the citadel dlc Cortez is driving . Because he knows . And he will not let that man be behind the wheel any longer .

Sorry sorry I know im not actively mass effect posting anymore but I did just see another one of those posts about shep coming back from the dead to the Garrus, Wrex, Tali, Liara and Kaiden/Ashley situations with NO MENTION of my man Joker who fucking JOINED CERBERUS while shep was dead. yknow Cerberus? The fucking. Black ops turned TERRORIST GROUP. The pilot with glass bones joined FUCKING. CERBERUS.

Look I dont have a point I just every so often have to pop into the mass effect fandom and point out that Jeff “Joker” Moreau is Fucking Unhinged and he needs to get put on more of the lists of ‘ppl who go off the deep end when Shep dies’

Thinking about how Joker loses Shepard twice and probably blames himself both times. Cuz Shepard died going back to save him and then the second time Shepard's death was never really confirmed what if he stayed a little longer, what if Shepard lived (the route I want the 5 game to go down) and Joker left huh.

The first watch mess was arguing about gendered terms for asari when Junior Flight Officer Bo Huan showed up for what, for them, must be a very late night snack.

"I'm just saying," Kaur was (just) saying, "obviously the asari don't gender their words, so it seems like early translators made some big leaps with what we consider 'asari' terms."

Joker caught Huan's eye, held up a finger, and whispered, "Wait for it..."

They didn't have to wait long. With XO Nguyen's stern presence keeping everyone in line, Shepard was able to put her metaphorical feet up and join the fun — and she did relish telling people about being called an anthropocentric bag of dicks. She saw her opportunity as soon as Joker had, and Huan laughed in surprise at both the insult and Joker's apparent precognition.

When they'd stopped, they shook their head, grinning. "We do hang on to way too much gendered shit," they said.

"Well, you don't."

"Yes, but that's a lot of responsibility I have to carry for the rest of you."

"You wanna know some real historical shit?" Joker said. He leaned closer to Huan, grinning in anticipation, "That I will never say in front of Shepard?"

Huan looked a little leery, like this was either going to be good or they were going to have to entirely re-calibrate their idea of him as a person, and they weren't sure which, but they leaned in.

"Back, like, 200 years ago," Joker said, subtly indicating Shepard where she sat, smiling at her crew like a benevolent monarch, "They called the ship's captain the 'Old Man of the Boat.'"

Huan almost choked.

"I know!" Joker said, gleefully. "She'd kill me."

"Violence in the mess hall!" Huan said. "Pilot found stabbed with butter-knife."

"Oh, she has a better knife on her, bet your last credit, but it doesn't matter. She wouldn't even have to get up. It'd be the Death Glare, right from there." Joker squinted his eyes comically. "Boom, phhzzzzt! I wouldn't stand a chance." He rolled his eyes back and pantomimed his own demise.

Across the room, Shepard noticed his antics. Her forehead wrinkled, but she smiled bemusedly, glad they were enjoying themselves.

While I think Joker has had romantic relationships, they were short lived for one reason or another, and sometimes that was related to his disability. like they thought it would be different but he just has too many precautions he has to take and things he can't do and if you're abled that can feel like a drag and a burden, and the last thing Joker is going to do is be with someone who thinks he's a burden. and there was at least one instance where he liked someone and they didn't like him back, and he internalized that as related to his disability too. Joker in the games is much more confident than his younger self, he had to build up that thick skin and his defense mechanisms. Honestly, I know in the game he tells Shepard they would have never been a thing because of regulations, but you can't tell me that because Joker stole the goddamn Normandy just to prove he could fly it and had the military gunning him down. he risked a hell of a lot and didn't even expect the actual outcome: getting to fly the Normandy. I really think he just has it ingrained in his head that Shepard wouldn't be interested in a guy like him so it never even crossed his mind to consider it.

It's been a month shy of two years since the first time I hosted the original version of this and now with the release of VeiIguard, think it's a great time to do it again!

In Round 1 characters that are companions or equivalent will be sectioned off into groups of 4 while other NPC's will be sectioned off in groups of 5 from their respective franchises. The two highest answers from each poll will move on to Round 2 which will change to 1V1. From Round 3 onwards all characters will be merged together. That will continue per franchise until there's a winner for Mass Effect and a winner from Dragon Age which will then go against one another

Will Garrus keep the Mass Effect crown only for the title of Ultimate BioWare Blorbo to be snatched by .5 of a percent by the man the myth the elf, Zevran two beatdowns running? Only time and (your vote) can tell!
